Dear Brit Simon,
first of all, thank you for your great job! It really helps understanding the whole process!
I tried to find answers in the FAQ, but I couldn’t.
My case number is EU36xxx, which is pretty high, I do understand that.
The only thing what is not explained, I guess is the selectees regarding to the countries. So for example, my birth country is Serbia, but my nationality is Hungarian, I’ve applied with Hungarian passport and I live in Hungary. This year from Hungary is only 93 person selected and from Serbia 264 (I guess). Does it mean that all the selectees from Hungary and Serbia have bigger chance to get the green card, even if the case numbers are let say high? Cause the program name is diversity, and 7% from each country can get the visa, right? Or if you’re from Norway for example and there are only 2 selectees this year, but let say the CN are high as 45xxx, what happens in this case? If it’s about the diversity, it should be a different kind of logic, right?
Probably I’m just trying to find hope, but for me it makes sense.
Thank you in advance for your reply.
All the best,
H
August 21, 2020 at 16:23
You are looking for a silver lining.
The countries don’t matter. The 7% is not an allocation for every country, it is a cap that no country can exceed. Other than that, it’s all based on case number and it is within the region – nothing to do with selectees per country. So – if the two people from Norway had high case numbers they would both be at risk.
August 23, 2020 at 10:55
Thank you for your respond!
I have two more questions, if you could help me, please:
As I mentioned, I was born is Serbia, but I’ve applied with Hungarian passport, since I live in Hungary. In the letter it says: foreign state chargeability: Serbia, post: Budapest.
If I get to the 2nd letter, should I send documents from Hungary, or from Serbia, or both (for example the criminal records) to the KCC?
Moreover, Hungary is a member of the Schengen area, thus travel ban applies to it, but Serbia as far as I know is not under restrictions. Does it mean that my application will be processed sooner, or I have to wait until the travel ban is lifted?
Thank you once again! 🙂 I wish you a great day!
Hedi
August 23, 2020 at 21:03
1. You follow the instructions which will tell you which documents you need.
2. The Schengen ban will affect you based on where you live/interview.
August 21, 2020 at 13:34
Hello Brit,
I have watched you last videos and I have to thank you for your help. my number is within SA30XX, Do you think I still have a chance?
August 21, 2020 at 16:24
If you watcghed the videos you would have heard my thoughts. Venzuelans and Cubans will find it tough to process, but we have no idea how Peru will behave.
So – all you can do is wait and see.
August 23, 2020 at 17:33
I’m doing change of status so I won’t face the difficulties that Venezuelans and Cubans doing consular processing will. I talked to a immigration lawyer and he said that the travel ban might help me because I will be doing change of status. He said that if the travel van continues they might default to go current so people in the us can change their status.
August 23, 2020 at 21:19
You might need to face the fact that your lawyer doesn’t understand the lottery at all.
August 23, 2020 at 23:45
We I do not know if he understands the lottery or not. But what he said made sense. If the travel ban is extended, everyone trying to do consular processing will be blocked and people already living in the USA will b the only ones left to get their visa. I just want to know what you think on this. I am not relaying on his thoughts. I know I have to wait and see what happens. Hopefully, SA30XX is not too bad. Taking into account that Venezuela has no embassy. and 2000/5500 for SA are Venezuelans. Also, venezuelan borders are almost closed. It is hard and expensive to travel out of Venezuela to go to an embassy. Basically, the only way out is by private jet. around 5000$ for a seat in a private plane. Trust me the average venezuelan cannot pay that.
August 21, 2020 at 15:02
Dear Mr. Simon,
I would appreciate you opinion, is there any chance for (European) DV-2020 selectees who are waiting for interview schedule ?
Any chance to get an interview till 30 of September OR if there will be potential deadline extension ?
Thanks
Marko
August 21, 2020 at 16:28
That all depends on the hearing on August 27.
August 23, 2020 at 18:45
Hello Brit,
Thanks for your help in advance!
I was selected in May, 2019 for DV-2020. They requested the documents in October and I sent them in November. My case number is 44XXX. I haven’t heard from them for the interview.
When you say “that all depends on the hearing on August 27”, what are they going to publish? I can see that the visa bulletin results for August is CURRENT: https://britsimonsays.com/visa-bulletin-for-august-2020-interviews-is-released/.
Thanks a lot.
Best,
Elena.
August 23, 2020 at 21:23
Jeez Elena you must have been under a rock. You are banned. Everyone is banned. Hence the lawsuit. Read some articles.
August 21, 2020 at 15:30
Good morning Brit, I just entered the USA two weeks ago on my DV visa as Single lady. please how long does it takes for me to file in for my husband? We got married after I got the visa.
Thanks
August 21, 2020 at 15:42
This lady is unbelievable – and extraordinary ! Oh my
August 21, 2020 at 16:49
It’s a two year process – but because you have to take financial responsibility for the person you are sponsoring, you need to first of all settle down, get a job and so on. That is why I strongly suggest people marry before going through the DV process.
August 21, 2020 at 15:31
HI, My case number is AS27XXX, is it a high CN in Asia ?
August 21, 2020 at 16:49
Yes

August 21, 2020 at 15:40
Good morning Brit
Thank you for the informative videos.
I applied for DS260 too early this June and I didn’t know it counts as immigration intent…
I already hold tourist visa and I worry that immigration officers will see my DS260 as a red flag when I arrive at US airports.
The reason why I am saying this is because my case number is relatively high (2021AS17XXX) and I am certainly not going to be interviewed until at least April of next year if I am super lucky.
1. Can I retract my DS260 application?
2. Do I stand correct when I say that my CN is relatively high?
August 21, 2020 at 16:44
1. No
2. It’s not too bad if the travel ban stays in effect.
When you arrive at a US airport they will almost never ask about DS260s.
August 22, 2020 at 07:29
Hello Simon,
thank you for all your clarifications. I just have two follow up questions for this post:
1.For those of us who unlocked the Ds 260 to make an update/change and haven’t resubmitted yet, does it mean the immigration intent isn’t suspended as well?
2. Can the immigration intent be a problem for future ESTA applications?
August 22, 2020 at 17:41
1. Immigrant intent is shown when you first submit the DS260.
2. Not normally.
August 21, 2020 at 15:45
Dear Simon
I took a look at pre-interview checklist of U.S embassy here in Sudan, but there was a document I couldn’t understand it, it was this between 2 brackets (prove of petitioner’s domicile)
What is it? Is every selectee required to prove that ?
August 21, 2020 at 16:41
That is specific to Sudan – so I have no idea about that document, but it sounds like they are looking for proof that you actually live in Sudan.
August 21, 2020 at 17:59
They litreally wrote that like this
” Provide Coppies of documents proving your petitioner’s domicile in the U.S as required by U.S immigration law “
August 21, 2020 at 21:17
OK – you don’t need that for DV cases.
August 21, 2020 at 15:46
Hello,
my case number is around 6000 in Asia and the documents have been accepted from Kentucky and now waiting for the interview date, my question is that my wife has become pregnant at this time! If I was interviewed and visas were issued to me and my wife before the birth process
1- Do they allow my wife to travel while she is pregnant?
2- Can my wife be born in the United States of America ??
3- Is there health insurance for the birth process ??
August 21, 2020 at 16:39
1. Yes, although most airlines restrict travel in the third trimester.
2. No she can only be born once – and that happened already. Her baby could be born in America though.
3. No you would have to pay for insurance, or pay the costs of the birth (very expensive). Some people rely on state level assistance, but you should not do that.
August 21, 2020 at 22:22
Thanks for the answers❤️
The answer to the second question I didn’t understand … My wife was not born before. This is her first pregnancy !!
August 21, 2020 at 23:14
You are misusing the word “born”. She was born once. At the end of her pregnancy, she will “give birth”.
August 23, 2020 at 15:47
Love your sense of humor
August 21, 2020 at 15:52
Brit
I have something to clarify. In DV2020 there were also nearly 25000 selectees . Proclamation added on 22 nd of April. If there is no visa for case numbers more than 10,000 how could 2020 March and April visa bulletin was on for case numbers higher than 10,000
Hope you will clear me this
August 21, 2020 at 16:33
People adjusting status in the USA were not affected by the proclamations. The process continued, just that some people (most people) were blocked by the bans.
August 21, 2020 at 16:33
what if visa bulletin will be current in jun 2021. so is there a chance for high case numbers.
August 21, 2020 at 16:52
I have answered this same question many times today.
August 21, 2020 at 17:02
Hi Brit
I thank you for your answers.
My final concern is this.
I was on vacation in Morocco in 2016 I had to travel with a pass. In my ds 260 I did not mention that I traveled to Morocco Because there is no entry or exit stamp for Morocco in my passport because I had used a pass.
I mentioned all the social networks I use in my ds 260. But since yesterday I noticed that there are photos of me during my stay in Morocco in one of my Instagram accounts that I have not mentioned in my ds 260 Because I no longer use this Instagram account since 2017 I had lost the username and password of this account.
1- I would like to know given the fact that I did not mention in my ds 260 that I visited Morocco during its last 5 year since there is no stamp appearing in my passport. As well as the fact that there are photos of me in Morocco in the Instagram account to which I have lost the username and password,
could it cause me problems?
NB: the username of this account is same to the account I mentioned in DS 260.
Thanks for the answer brother
August 21, 2020 at 21:11
Your DS260 should be accurate. Correct it.
August 21, 2020 at 17:45
Hi there,
My wife and I were in the Green Card Lottery in 2019 – one of us was successful so the other received a spousal approval. We entered the US and have 1 year temp visas in our passports. We returned home and our green cards are with friends in the US. We now may be divorcing (still in our home country AUS). Will this effect the green card of either spouse, or will it have no effect since they’ve already been issued?
August 21, 2020 at 20:46
So you did a trick then. Its obvious that you got married for greencard and cheated CO.
August 21, 2020 at 22:36
@Sofia
1. Where does it say they married after they were selected for the lottery?
2. Leave the answering to me please.
August 21, 2020 at 21:15
No effect. Each of you has your own GC.
August 21, 2020 at 17:53
Thank you for your great videos which are very very helpful. two questions:
1. if i am in USA, do I still need wait my number current to adjust my status?
2. if a main applicant has wife and kids, such as two kids, then they need 4 visas, does only ONE visa count in 55Kvisas or Four?
Thank you so much
August 21, 2020 at 21:16
1. Yes – although under early filing you can file when you see your number in the VB, you don’t have to wait for the current month.
2. Four.
August 21, 2020 at 21:26
further question, if these four person(in one family) are all included DV2021′ s selects132,404?
August 21, 2020 at 23:16
Yes
August 21, 2020 at 18:24
Hello Sir,
My wise played as a Family and won but on her Passport that was used to fill the DV entry form there is a mistake with one of her names (‘i’ was added on one of her names which was not suppose to be there). I was advised that we should apply for a new Passport and use to fill the D260 form which I did. What advise can you give in this care baring in mind that the old passport is physically available as well.
Thanks
August 21, 2020 at 22:18
This should not be a problem – but you will need to show old and new passports.
August 21, 2020 at 18:34
Hi Simon, I just saw the South America selecte numbers analysis video, I have a question, the high case number is 3000 but mine is 24xx, would you recommend me to participate in the dv 2020?
thanks for your help
August 21, 2020 at 22:18
You mean DV2022 – yes. Everyone should.
August 21, 2020 at 18:50
Hello,
I am a 2021 winnner, I got married after the results are announced and we are currently in the US so I will proceed with adjustment of status. What should be the procedure for my husband? Should he fill I-130 or just i-485 like me? Should I inform Kentucky Consular Center about my marriage?
Thank you!
August 21, 2020 at 22:20
When you adjust status, you will BOTH adjust status.
August 22, 2020 at 01:40
Thanks. And do you recommend filling DS-260 for our case since we need to add my husband as applicant? I couldn’t find a solid source saying application to DS-260 is necessary or recommended prior to Adjustment of status.
August 22, 2020 at 17:26
That is not strictly necessary, so I recommend you don’t file a DS260 too early if you have a high case number. However, when your case number is closer to being current, complete the DS260 then – it let’s KCC open a file for you which speeds the process later.
The source you need for AOS is here:
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2021-aos-only.342993/
August 22, 2020 at 19:15
Also, I got married in the US and I didn’t inform my home country about my marriage because I would have to change my last name and have to update all my documents like passport, SSN, etc. but when I request for a birth certificate from my home country, my marital status appears as single. Would that create a problem?
August 22, 2020 at 20:18
No
August 21, 2020 at 18:52
thank u for helping us.
secondly i applied Dv lottery 2019 october , and selected bachelor degree, at that time i was about to finish my degree 2020 june. unfortunately covid -19 came and i will finish 2021 in june.
so what should i do?
August 21, 2020 at 22:21
Your High school results are the most important thing – so just tell the truth and you’ll be fine.
August 21, 2020 at 19:36
Hi Simon,
I am a DV-2021 winner from Asia and my case number is 16xxx. I am currently living in the United States on a F1 visa. I would like to know whether it’ll be an advantage when processing my case in spite of all the suspensions in place right now.
Thank you
August 21, 2020 at 22:30
Yes it would help as people living in the USA are exempt from the bans.
August 21, 2020 at 19:43
Hi Simon,
I am selected for the EDV 2021. My case number is 2021AS00006301. Is there any chance ?
And also, I am living in the USA for a long time with a legal status. When I filled out DV application, i was married and put married status but now i have already filed a divorce and its pending. My question is just in case i am selected, will my marital status affect the chance of getting a visa?
August 21, 2020 at 22:31
1. https://britsimonsays.com/dv2021-selectee-number-analysis/
2. No problem – just be sure to be truthful every step of the way.
August 22, 2020 at 00:36
Hi Brit,
I’m from Sierra Leone My Case Number is 2021AF00049XXX when I could be expecting my interview and can I go ahead to submit the DS-260 or I should wait till next year.
August 22, 2020 at 00:57
I don’t know when. Your second question is in the FAQ.
August 22, 2020 at 01:32
Hi brit,
I’m from Egypt, the highest number i have heard in Egypt about Af202100036000, my case number is Af20210035700 is there any chance?
August 22, 2020 at 17:21
Well, if your number is almost the highest in Egypt, then you could be too high because it is likely that Egypt will reach the 7% limit. BUT you might be incorrect about the max number being 36XXX – so for now, all you can do is wait.
August 22, 2020 at 04:20
Hi Brit,
I watched your videos n thanks fr hard effort.. Im from Asia n 1298* for dv 2021.. i saw u have explained that ppl with or below 10,000 for asia is safe as only 8600 visas are available.. n i saw u mentioned about 8000 visas from 4 countries which has travel ban.. so as u said 8000 for 25,000 selectees n 8000 for 17,000 selectees…
1) In the both scenarios only ppl below 10,000 is safe?
2) By looking at current situation in USA, impact for economy and all do you really think that all 25,000 ppl will process? don’t you think that this time no of people who will not process will be greater compared to other years? cant it be the same reason why they picked large no of selectees as 136,000??
3) can we keep hopes with asia 12,98*???
August 22, 2020 at 17:32
1. Not “ONLY”, no. If the banned people remain banned, the VB will go much higher. The 10K was not a prediction, it was a “don’t even waste my time asking if your number is below this” number.
2. No, not everyone will process. That is the same every year, but might be worse this year – only time will tell.
3. You should know the answer to that – it depends on the factors I gave.
August 22, 2020 at 06:08
Hello Mr. Brit. Thank you very much for your help and your videos, just be aware that not everyone who follows you understands English. Some to understand your posts use Google translate to translate. And if you really do videos in English, it will be hard to understand. Please do a written article where there will be the largest case number from each region and the winners from each Country. And in the end I would like to know what is the biggest case number in Africa and Is there enough gap between the case number
August 22, 2020 at 09:40
No offence, but how can anyone expect to immigrate to the USA and go through this whole process which isn’t quite easy and not give in a little effort by trying to learn English? People expect to get everything without minimum effort whatsoever and I find that extremely selfish and slothful. Simon pours in so much time and energy to help us all understand better how the DV lottery works and the least you can do is watch his videos and pay close attention. Based on your comment, your English seems very good which proves to me that you were too lazy to watch the video analysis and just expect a breakdown of the safe and highest case numbers. Not cool.
August 22, 2020 at 17:44
@Ren, I think NH was perhaps thinking of others not understanding, but yes you are correct – it really helps when people make some effort – so thanks for pointing that out.
I want to help, but I don’t do this as a full time job unfortunately.
August 22, 2020 at 17:35
I’m always surprised that people say things like this. Of course I know not everyone speaks English. I KNOW THAT.
I created hours of video over two days which is not scripted. I would have to transcribe those videos – and because I have a full time job, a family and so on – I don’t have the time. But I know and expect that people out there discuss my information, so the information spreads. That is the best I can do.
August 23, 2020 at 17:00
you are doing beyond your best.. Thank you Brit.
August 22, 2020 at 06:13
Hi Brit,
I have quick question for you. I’m lottery winner for dv 2021 from AS Nepal. I’m currently living in Australia. Because of pandemic US embassy in Nepal is closed. And I am not sure when will the situation be normal. So, my question is,
1. Is it better to give my interview in Australia or in Nepal?
2. What do you suggest, where should i put my interview location in ds-260 form, in Nepal or in Australia?
August 22, 2020 at 17:38
1. You interview where you live. When you interview depends on your case number. So – think about your case number and think where you will be living when you can be interviewed.
2. Doesn’t matter which embassy you pick. It will be chosen based on the current address you give.
August 22, 2020 at 06:37
Hi Brit ,
I was selected for the DV2021 from south Asia, I just want to know is, in 2009 i was in Italy for 1 years and 3 months, when I left from Italy i couldn’t get the Police clearance, Do I need to submit the Police report for that particular period, if it not what happen, kindly advice me
August 22, 2020 at 17:39
Yes you need a PC for that period of time. So – you read the instructions, which will take you to the reciprocity page (or just google that) and that will explain how to apply for a PC for every country.
August 22, 2020 at 08:48
thank you of all
i married after when i won DV -2021 , i filled my original document single. so what i should do?
August 22, 2020 at 17:42
You can read the FAQ which describes how to add your spouse.
August 22, 2020 at 10:07
Hi Simon, I know it’s an annoying question that you see everyday, but even I watched your video, I really don’t know how to feel. My number is EU30k should I be worried? I would have no hope if I was 40k+ or I wouldn’t worry at all if I was <20k but, not sure about my number.
August 22, 2020 at 17:56
You will have to wait and see. We don’t know the max numbers yet – so really there is no way to be precise – and as my videos explain there are many important factors this year. So – get prepared for a long wait.
August 22, 2020 at 10:19
Hello Brit
I have followed all ur articles and video on youtube about selectee analysis , and still cant dont the math corectly , i wanted to ask : is EU26000 mathematically safe ?
( Without other factors like , ban , pandemic etc )
I would appreciate a response
August 22, 2020 at 17:59
We don’t know the max numbers yet – so wait and see.
August 22, 2020 at 10:35
Hi Simon,
The surname of my spouse is different in Passport and Birth certificate. In passport , the surname is mentioned in full while in birth certificate it is mentioned as short form
(For example: Passport : Sara Khan. Birth Certificate: Sara K. )
Do i need to get it corrected on the birth certificate?
August 22, 2020 at 18:00
Follow local standards and use your own judgement.
August 22, 2020 at 11:52
What is the highest case number from Nepal???
August 22, 2020 at 13:03
Hello , I saw a number on an asia forum AS26xxx from nepal
August 22, 2020 at 18:11
I find that to be very questionable information. Might be someone living in Nepal, but not charged to Nepal, or simply a typo.
August 22, 2020 at 18:01
When you find out, will you let me know….
August 22, 2020 at 12:16
Hi, i enjoy a lot reading all the information on your website and i have a question.
If the case is DV2021 like around the 15000, maybe there’s no answer to this question, till when is it possible to send your DS260. For example you could send it on January 2021 or later? Because this situation with Covid 19 is hard to guess about future if you have a serious project of moving.
August 22, 2020 at 18:04
I have a FAQ that answers that exactly – please read the FAQ.
August 22, 2020 at 12:17
Hi Brit,
First I will like to thank you for the great job you are doing. Please I have a worry. My secondary school and high school have the same name. Actually it’s the same institution but has a different campus for secondary level and another for high level which all have almost the same address. I also obtained two certificates from the various levels. On the dd260, I enter the same name two times. That is;
1) Name of institution——— ABCD
Certificate obtained—— GCE ordinary level
Period of study———2004 to 2009.
2) Name of institution———ABCD
Certificate obtained—-GCE Advanced level
Period of study——-2009 to 2011.
Could the entry of the same Name of institution two times on the DS260 lead to disqualification????
August 22, 2020 at 18:04
No problem.
August 22, 2020 at 12:21
Hello Brit
I hope you are well, I come back once again about the concern I had asked above so that I make a decision because my life depends on it.
I beg you for the love of God to read my concern carefully and give me your final answer.
In my DS260 I did not mention that I visited Morocco in the last 5 year because there is no stamp in my old passport I lost.
When I went to Morocco I traveled with another document (let pass).
This week I noticed that there is old pics of me in Morocco in one of my Instagram accounts that I did not mention in my DS 260 because I no longer use this account since 2017. I had forgotten the identifier and password of this account.
The photos there in this account demonstrates that I was in Morocco in 2016 (date of publication of photos on this Instagram account).
The Instagram account I mentioned in my DS 260 is the one I am currently using and the identifier is different from the Instagram account with photos of me in Morocco.
The problem is that the account whose show pictures of me in Morocco in 2016 is my real name as on my Facebook and Twitter, while the account I mentioned in my DS 260 it is a pseudonym (Sobriquet).
I’m very afraid, what should I do now ?
1- Unlock my DS260 Add this Instagram account and mentioned that I have been in Morocco in the last 5 year?
2- Or should I leave it like that ???
NB: There is no any stamp showing that I have been in Morocco neither in the old passport that I lost or in the new passport that I currently have. Because I travelled with a pass (let pass).
What bothers me is the fact that the Instagram account with my real name shows pics of me in Morocco and I did not mention that account in my DS260. Because i don’t have anymore access to that i can’t remember the identifier and the password.
Thank you Brit for a answer. it’s my latest concern. May God bless you and your family.

No need to over dramatize this whole thing. You already asked, I already answered. Your DS260 should be accurate. Correct it.

Hi Brit,
Is Eu 26k could be safe if there will be disqualifications due to high number of winners from some countriea like russia, uzbekistan, kyrgiziya and others? As i understand limit from 1 country must be 7% from 50 k of issued cardsds?
August 22, 2020 at 18:33
Maybe. That’s why I am saying wait and see.

Hi Brit, I arrived to the states on my b1/b2 visa a few days ago (my country has no restrictions at all) and I’m a dv2020eu45k “winner”..I just saw some happenings with the lawsuit and everything that’s going on, so my question would be is there anything I could do about my case since I’m here? I mean, honestly, I did gave up hope and came to visit my family and friends, but if there’s anything I can do about it, I’d be more than happy to try. Thank you in advance.
August 22, 2020 at 20:13
No. There is a process of adjustment of status, for people in the USA, but since you entered after the ban you would theoretically be ineligible to apply to be exempt from the ban, and you will be accused of entering the USA with immigrant intent – meaning your entry itself was fraudulent. You also would have almost no time since the deadline is September 30. So – if you understand the risks and have money to gamble, you could try, but the chances are very small. Your choice.
August 22, 2020 at 20:52
Oh no, money wouod not be the problem, but I wouldn’t like to be involved in some unlawful stuff. So should I wait for those lawsuits to end and possibly go home to finish the interview if we get lucky to win this or any other suggestion from your side? Thanks for your prompt reply.
August 23, 2020 at 17:35
No other suggestion.

Hola Brit.
Saludos,

I only normally answer questions posted in English, but I understand your question well enough to answer.
You should be able to get some help to extend your visa. There are two options available, both of which have to be done before the September 30th deadline).
1. A 1 month extension to the validity of your existing visa (free, and should be easy)
2. A newly issued visa which would have a further 6 months validity (requires new medical and to pay the visa application fees again).
If either of these options give you more time to get some travel plans sorted out, then you should contact the embassy to see what they can do.

Because I’m from Somalia, a failed state in the horn of Africa, it is really challenging to get a hold of a passport in the capital city (Muqdisho) while i live in northern Somalia. Therefore, I filled my DV lottery 2021 without a passport (with the choice of ‘stateless’). Will that be a problem since I followed DV lottery’s instruction (becuase I didn’t have a passport at the time).
Please let me know if you have an answer to any of my questions.
P.s. I have been randomly selected.
August 23, 2020 at 17:24
I don’t know. I understand the problem, and the CO may also have some discretion on this matter – we don’t yet know how hard they will enforce the rule, or what countries might be considered genuine exceptions. So – delay your case for a few months so we get some better idea.
August 22, 2020 at 20:47
I see some data that makes me think that interviews are assigned to the first to finish the DS process. I see that SA case number 1 was interviewed on December 20 and case number 99 was on October 11, this makes me think that they give interviews to the first ones who send everything as long as they are inside the Visa Bulletin . I’ll be right friend BirtSimon
August 23, 2020 at 17:34
Well of course. They won’t keep everyone waiting because case number 1 isn’t ready yet! The VB increases the case number range that can be scheduled in chunks. Once the case number is below the VB number, any case number under that number can be scheduled, so someone who submitted late will get scheduled once processed.

Hi I have a question.i did not find this answer When you submit your documents for the DS 260 , how old the police record is supposed to be ? Maybe there s no need for old countries you lived in the past but maybe for your actual record the police record you need like a recent one , like max from the last 3 months?
For the birth certificate or other papers Like wedding certificate they have also to be recent?
Thanks a lot for your answers
August 25, 2020 at 15:32

Hi Simon,
Just wondering if you have any thoughts/knowledge on DV2022? Will applications still go ahead this year?
Also, my partner and I plan on applying for O1 and O2 visas early next year, would applying for DV2022 (given it is going ahead) affect this or entry into the US on an ESTA?
Thank you!
August 23, 2020 at 18:02
Yes it will go ahead (opens October 1), no impact on ESTA.

Good morning Sir ,
I have watched a video related the holes and the process of the dv draw on your blogs , I like asking you some information about this.
1_ could it happen that holes are located more in the early range if we talk about finding more fraudulent cases in this range during running the programs belongs to the fraud before the announcement of the winners to continue their process?
2_ Does not this concept make us a little bit confused about the expected cutoff?
3_ is there anyway to be more accurate about the places of holes than waiting the CEAC on next January?
Thank you Sir in advance
August 23, 2020 at 20:41
1. No – fraudulent cases are distributed evenly (statistically). The increase in holes in later ranges is to do with limited countries, but that is the only way it works.
2. Regions with limited countries are harder to predict without the data, yes.
3. No

Dear Sir,
I am 2020AS17XXX
This question is referring to i-134 document, Page 04, Part 03, Question 38
My sponsor ticked ” I do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of person name in the part -02(Beneficiary)”
1. Will that be a issue for me at the interview???
2. Is it compulsory to tick “I intend…” ??
Kindly clarify
Thanks
August 23, 2020 at 20:58
1. I don’t think so.
2. I normally advise the I intend option with a generic statement such as “any financial help needed for as long as needed”.

I heard in your analysis, case numbers from Egypt will be low for DV-2021. How about for Ethiopian. We have a total of 3957 cases for DV2021. What is your analysis regarding Ethiopians? Thank you for your answer in advance.
August 23, 2020 at 21:02
Ethiopians generally don’t proceed with their cases in high enough volume to hit the 7% limit.

Dear Simon,
I have a question not related to Dv2021.
I am a DV2019 winner, I got my Green Card on 24th August 2019 and since then I went yo the UD twice and back to Saudi as I was waiting for my company to transfer me to the US office.
Then came the corona virus issue. Last time I left the US was on March 12th to come back to Saudi to finalize the move.
Now I am stuck in Saudi and the flight I got is third week of September.
Do you think I will face issues when I try to enter the US then since My green card completed a year on 24th of August?
I am really worried and stressed out by this.
Thanks and Regards,
Omar
August 23, 2020 at 21:04
Worrying for nothing.
August 23, 2020 at 11:47
Is 27 August lawsuits give the decision?
Suppose IF lawsuit win, DV2020 interviews extension after 30 Sep 2020
August 23, 2020 at 14:47
hola brit, suponiendo que mi entrevista fuera en septiembre 2021, mi pasaporte se vence en feb 2022, o sea faltarian 5 meses para q se venciera que debo de hacer? ese pasaporte me sirve?
August 23, 2020 at 14:49
Hi Brit, assuming my interview was in September 2021, my passport expires in February 2022, that is, it would be 5 months before it expires, what should I do? Does that passport work for me?
August 23, 2020 at 21:11
That is answered in the FAQ
August 23, 2020 at 21:05
We will wait and see…
August 23, 2020 at 14:08
Hi Simon,
Thank you for all this help and info.
Once D260 is submitted, for how long should I wait to see if my case number is selected or not because it is too high?
August 23, 2020 at 21:10
As long as it takes.
