Hello Brit Simon,
It’s a great pleasure having talk with you, but let me ask a question: I am a dv littery 2021 winner, and filling out the ds260 form a bit confused because I don’t know to start filling the derivatives or leave them uncomplete?! I have reason for that, I don’t want my family immigrate to US with me, but in my ds260 I selected “will immigrate later”, that’s is that important to fill and complete the derivatives’ ds260 forms? Or can I complete only my ds260 form? Will they require scans of my docs or ask all docs for each member of my family? I just want to be interviewed fisrt, then in 2-3 months my family will follow me.
October 31, 2020 at 14:53
Because you want to take them i 2 to 3 months, you should include them in your DV process (complete a DS260 for each one). The alternative process is you move to the USA and then start a family based case once settled. That is complex, expensive and takes 2 years.
October 31, 2020 at 15:49
Dear Brit Simon, thanks for quick response. Based on your answer “you should include them in your DV process (complete a DS260 for each one)”, I’ll complete all the DS260 but I can go to interview alone without my family. As for the second alternative process “That is complex, expensive and takes 2 years.” I want my family to move as late as possible, maybe in 5-6 years. That’s for I want to move to US alone and don’t bring them to be interviewed.
October 31, 2020 at 16:51
In that case don’t submit their DS260’s, just make sure all derivatives are listed on your DS260.

Good evening sir. I am Guinean living in Angola, holding a work visa. My passport has expired and as I am not in Guinea, the Guinean embassy living in Angola extended the expiry date of my passport until December since in December I will come to Guinea to renew my passport. I would like to know if I can apply the DV2020 with this passport that I currently have.
October 31, 2020 at 19:16
I don’t know whether what the embassy did was an official extension or not. Use your own judgement.
November 1, 2020 at 01:57
The Embassy has made an official extension. Is it possible that I play?
November 2, 2020 at 04:51
I have no idea what you are talking about.
November 2, 2020 at 04:47
No.
October 31, 2020 at 17:37
Dear Brit,
I really appriciate your replies, they’ve been helping me to find my way out.
I know I did asked too many wuestions, but I’m confused. My travel passport’s tern is being expired, but fortunately I have double citizenship, and my second travel passport’s is gonna expire in 2028. Can I enter its data (serial number, issued and expured dates? as my first passport on DS260 and put my second passport (my primary DV application Lottery was filled and won due to my expiring passport) as the secandary one?
October 31, 2020 at 19:20

October 31, 2020 at 21:08

President Trump’s is trying to end deversity Visa’s, I just watched one of his videos
November 1, 2020 at 09:43
That video is from 2017, has been trying to do this for a long time, but seeing that the registration period for dv2022 is nearing its end we realize how much it has succeeded, something typical for trumpy…
November 2, 2020 at 04:49
Thanks for bring up years old nonsense.
November 1, 2020 at 00:11
Hi Sir, I would like to make some assumption if it will click for me
In AF ,VB for October 2100, November 5100 and Dec 7000 so total for these months 15,000 Visas
1. If my CN falls within the total and haven’t received any email demanding supporting documents , can I contact KCC?
2. If my CN is AF60000 … Can I be adding the visas numbers to determine when probably I will receive emails for my supporting documents?
. ❤️
Thank you and hope for your reply
November 2, 2020 at 04:50
The numbers do not add together. The 7000 INCLUDES the 5100 and 2100.
November 1, 2020 at 00:38
Hi mr brit
Can i have my beard on for dv2022 entry photo??
November 2, 2020 at 04:51

November 1, 2020 at 02:59
Hi Brit
I am one of Dv 2021 winners, my number is AS30443
Is there any chance to get the interview, or its big number?
Thanks
November 2, 2020 at 04:51
It’s a high number – wait and see.
November 1, 2020 at 07:40
Hi,
After trying to get to the second page, it tells me that the session has expired…could it be that something is wrong with the site? I filled in all information within 5 minutes.

Muller adviser of president Trump for immigration yesterday he declared his agenda for next year he did not mention about canceling dv lottery he said he will review the ban of 31 Dec 2020 he said not necessary to extend the ban on visas
November 1, 2020 at 11:05
Really? Gud news.. any link to watch?
November 1, 2020 at 11:50
Miller, who said he would stay on at the White House in a second term, could not say whether the government would lift its current freeze on new green cards and visas when it expires at the end of the year, claiming it would be “entirely contingent” on the results of a “government analysis” on the policy and current state of the country.
The administration wants to expand policies that require asylum seekers in the U.S. to first seek protection from other countries—currently Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras—“to include the rest of the world.”

As DV winners, please encourage your relatives in the USA to vote wisely. The 2nd administration of Trump won’t be good.

He is a liar and a moron. Don’t believe a word he says.
November 1, 2020 at 12:18
Hi,
I have won dv 2021 can i enter dv 2022 or it will cause issue to my 2021 case.
November 2, 2020 at 04:55
No problem.
November 1, 2020 at 14:05
Hi Simon! I am desperate to get help, this is the second year we are trying to submit our dv lottery forms. It just won’t work. The photos are good and all the information, but when I get to the end of the page 2, it just wont upload the page, I fill all the info and when I press continue, the “page not found” appears… I have tried 1000 times. The last year I even called to Kentucky and talked to a person from the government, and he told me it has to be because of to many people trying to upload at the same time…what do you suggest I should do!
Thank in advance
November 2, 2020 at 04:57
Millions of people have successfuly done this – so you need to realize this is YOUR problem.
Now – try these things.
Restart the computer
Make sure your network is stable
Only open one browser window.
Try different browsers.
November 1, 2020 at 16:07
hello sir!
I have always wanted to ask you this question! why certain people get selected in DV lottery even though they have used their same old photo? is this mean the system does not have facial recognition software ? because i thought old photos from previous years are disqualified! but yet you hear people from different forums actually win the DV lottery I’m confused !!
November 2, 2020 at 04:59
You are confused about what facial recognition software does. Plus they don’t check all entries, they select winners then they check those cases.
November 1, 2020 at 17:43
Does MD degree is considered a doctoral degree when applying for DV lottery application?
November 2, 2020 at 04:59
Yes
November 1, 2020 at 18:39
Dear Brit Simon,
I have a naive question, this is just the first time I come across such a question.
If the person who fills in the DV, has 2 children who are over 21 years old, then in the section where it asks “how many children do you have?” should be filled with 0?
Or all children should be filled in no matter how old are they and are they married or not.
Thank you.

Hello brit
I will like to know if having different signature on two documents may disqualify you from the dv
November 2, 2020 at 05:01
No
November 1, 2020 at 19:24
Completed my DV2022 application and after submitting i printed out the final page to keep but the printout did not come and without checking i closed the page. it there a way to get the information to enable keep so i can use it the check when the results are released.
November 2, 2020 at 05:02
Later you will be able to retrieve the case number
November 1, 2020 at 21:14
Hi sir,
My case no is 2021EU1300, it became curent in October. I didn’t send the DS260 yet (I’m waiting for the election cause I’m too scared that they will extend the ban and I didn’t want to declare immigration intent).
I have read all your posts and I know one can send the DS later, but giving the situation this year, do you think I risked anything holding back the DS till November? Am I in any risk not to be processed and scheduled in time if I send the DS in November-December? Can they just ignore my case after I send the DS because my number (EU1300) has already “passed” or because they will be too busy?
Sorry for my long text but this means a lot to me and my heart is with each one in this group! Praying for better days!
Mr. Simon, thank you for everything you do for us! ??
November 2, 2020 at 05:04
No risk.
November 2, 2020 at 00:02
Hello dear Brit Simons, I have a question on ds260.
1.On September 2/2020 someone stolen my documents and submitted DS260 with his sister as a married and but I do not married and also i don’t want to go interview so can I change my marriage status at interview time?
2. And also they’re not sumitted correct documents I emailed to Kentucky department of state and made some correction and sumitted on September 28/2020. my case number is AF4*** , when is my interview date?
November 2, 2020 at 05:06
1. No. You must contact KCC and let them know what has happened. However, you have to understand that your story sounds ridiculous. Someone stole your documents, and knew how to get into your DS260 and so on. They are not stupid.
2. Sort out your problems first.
November 2, 2020 at 03:11
Hello sir please is there any rumors about lockdown again in the US.
November 2, 2020 at 05:08
Yes – there are still lockdowns in effect in some places.
November 2, 2020 at 04:07
I heard that If Jon Biden win as a president, Lawyers will file a case to increase the amount of visas beyond the reserved 9k for DV2020 winners.
1. Is it true?
November 2, 2020 at 05:08
Maybe.
November 2, 2020 at 05:13
Dear Simon
I had been dating my boyfriend for 2 years when I found out I had won the DV lottery. I then had to choose between marrying him or losing him.
I was too afraid to lose him and be alone, even though I wasn’t sure I wanted to marry him. So I married him about a week ago so we could apply for the green card together. Now that we are married, I feel like maybe it was a mistake and I don’t truly love him, and I don’t want to spend my life with him, or even a few years. I am having anxiety attacks.
We have not yet submitted the DS260, but we are working on it and close to submission.
I just want to know that if I divorce him now and try and apply as a single person rather, will my application be jeopardized for this mistake of getting married and divorced so quickly – even though it was a sincere mistake?
What would you recommend?
Thank you
November 2, 2020 at 19:36
This is obviously not a common situation – so I can’t predict what reaction there might be to your change in status. Just be sure to be truthful.
November 2, 2020 at 06:40
Hello Brit, i’ve got my visa and if Trump wins and i’m sure he will extend this ban”(( what should we do ? Or is there any lawsuit for this ?
November 2, 2020 at 19:38
Wait a few days so we know who will be the President in January.
November 2, 2020 at 06:57
Hi Brit,
Greetings Again From Sri Lanka,
According to the Birth Certificate and the Passport My last name is Lelkada Lokuge, but I hardly use the Lelkada part of that. So I filled the last name in the DS260 as Lokuge.
Will that be a problem?
Some of my educational certificates mention my last name as Lelkada Lokuge and some mention Lokuge only.
Will be a problem in the interview?

Your DS260 should match your official documents such as your passport. If it does not match – unlock and correct it.
November 2, 2020 at 07:48
Good Morning Brit. God bless you for your good work. I am a dv 2021 winner with CN AF12xxx. I have received email from Kcc to send my documents which I have done. I have now received an automatic email reply that Kcc has received the documents. Can this message be relied on or I should still receive the congratulatory message from them before I could accept they have received it. Pls help me out Sir.
November 2, 2020 at 21:04
The immediate email is unimportant – it is sent automatically. There will be a later email once they have processed your documents. That one specifically says you are ready to be scheduled for interview.
November 2, 2020 at 23:17
Hi Brit, i need to ask you something.
I am a dv 2021 winner (CN 157** Europe) , i completed my ds 260 application form at July 07 but until today i didn’t receive the mail from the kcc office for sending the scanned documents. How many time can take kcc to process my ds 260 applications form. Do you think that is necessary to contact kcc office for more information?
Thanks in advance Marcela
November 2, 2020 at 10:35
Dear Simon,
I have 2 questions related to my tax return (2019) as a new LPR (LPR since November 2019). I submitted my tax return via a consultant here in Belgium (country of citizenship).
1- I read that there is something called dual-status tax return, which applies for example to LPRs at their first year of arrival, as they have a non-resident status for a part of the year and then the resident status for the rest of the year (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/taxation-of-dual-status-aliens).
My accountant did not use that form but simply filed a 1040 resident tax form. is that ok ?
2- Part of the 1040 tax return, there is a question about the country of residence in the form 1116 (Foreign tax credit). There, my accountant wrote that I was a resident of Belgium, my country of citizenship for that fiscal year. Is this an issue ? I don’t want to this to look like i abandoned my LPR status.
P.S in the 1040 form, it’s clear that I am a US resident and my american address is clearly stated.
Many thanks,
kasem
November 2, 2020 at 21:08
I don’t answer tax matters.
November 2, 2020 at 13:04
Hello Mr. Brit Simon,
good day, a friend of mine has some nagging questions which he sent me to ask you on his behalf because he is currently living in rural Ghana at the moment helping to train fashion designing and tailoring apprentices under the current government’s “Youth Entrepreneurship and skills training”, to combat the exodus of rural-urban migration by the teaming youth.
He was among the fortunate Dv 2021 applicants with a case # AF000074** and he has already sent his DS-260 and the other relevant documents to KCC upon their request.
and his problem is as follows:
He has been chasing a lady for a very long time for marriage since his successful graduation from the University, the lady in question has now accepted his bona fide proposal and they have done the customary marriage and their respective families have given their consent and blessings to their relationship, they are however yet to undertake the ordinance marriage for certification after she is done with her education come December this year, 2020.
And his two questions are as follows:
(1) Can he make the official request to KCC and ask for unlocking to enable him add her to his DS-260 and further documents?
And lastly (2), as a Dv 2021 selectee, can he partake in the current Dv 2022 entry using her as his spouse?
Thank you
November 2, 2020 at 21:10
1. No – the marriage must be a legal marriage.
2. Same answer as point 1.
November 2, 2020 at 14:13
Hey Brit! Can i enter into dv2022 being 2021 selectee
November 2, 2020 at 21:10
Yes
November 2, 2020 at 15:23
Hello BritSimon,
Thank you for your efforts! With the regard to little gap in visa bulletins could you please tell if EU22*** is considered as a high number? (DV2021)
November 2, 2020 at 21:10
That’s not very high
November 2, 2020 at 16:57
Hello Brit
Could you tell me the size of the picture for DV2022 entery ,it makes me a little bit confused .
Thank you in advance
November 2, 2020 at 21:12
Did you read the instructions?
November 2, 2020 at 17:42
Hello Brit.
My number is 23000, What are the possibilities for Interview because i just realized i won the lottery. Am i too late for the whole process? And will my spouse have a problem because she has double citizenship ?
Thank you so much
November 2, 2020 at 21:12
1. Your number is meaningless without the region.
2. No problem.
November 3, 2020 at 14:57
Sorry, forgot to tell the region, EU – Macedonia.
Thank you for your help !
November 2, 2020 at 18:23
Hello Simon,
I am 2021 winner and filling up the DS-260. I have problem with question “Have you used any other telephone numbers during the last five years?”. In 2019 I have been in USA on holiday and bought T-mobile tourist plan. Sim card was registered on passport I use in DS260. Im struggle to find out what the number was. Will you be able to advise if is necessary to include that number in DS260?
November 2, 2020 at 21:14
This would not normally cause a problem.
November 2, 2020 at 19:05
Good evening Brit. I don’t have the passport. I have the national identity card of my Country (ID). can I register for the American lottery dv 2022?
November 2, 2020 at 21:16
No.
November 2, 2020 at 19:26
Hello Brit.
I’m a DV 2020 candidate from Kenya -group 4(received ready for schedule email in February). I have a burning question. I’m considering marrying my spouse in December 2020. If the merits of lawsuit are argued successfully by January or February 2021, will I be able to add my spouse or what’s the likely scenario here please. Thank you
November 2, 2020 at 21:17
If you get a chance for processing later you can ask the embassy.
November 2, 2020 at 20:21
Hello Brit,
I just watched a video posted by a lawyer from San Diego, in which he said that the public charge rule was eliminated today by the administration. Can you confirm if it’s true, and if it is, does that mean I-134 won’t be needed?
Here is the video: XXX Edited by BritSimon XXX
Thank you for you effort !
November 2, 2020 at 21:25
No it does not mean that. It specific to some changes introduced by the current administration. The need for an I-134 is to do with a much older public charge requirement – and that has not changed.
November 2, 2020 at 20:57
Hello Mr. Simon.. I would like to know is there any problem to unlock ds 260 after having lately received the kcc email for further scanned documents, should I unlock it just because the spouse(derivate) has made a mistake with her mothers name?? Thank you
November 2, 2020 at 21:26
No problem.
November 2, 2020 at 21:42
No problem to unlock the ds260 even after having received the kcc email? Or there is no problem to unlock the ds and I can correct the mistake on the embassy on the interview day? Do I miss a lot of time to receive a second email from kcc after I unlock my ds now ?
November 2, 2020 at 23:29
I don’t know whether that will meet the education requirement or not.
November 2, 2020 at 21:18
Hello Mr. Simon.. I would like to know is there any problem to unlock ds 260 after having lately received the kcc email for further scanned documents, should I unlock it just because the spouse(derivate) has made a mistake with her mothers name?? Thank you!
November 3, 2020 at 00:22
That is not a hugely important mistake, but if your wife may one day sponsor her mother, it is probably worth correcting.
November 2, 2020 at 21:55
hello dear saimon. I have a friend who won the lottery in 2021, she does not have her 12 years of studies because she only did 11 and a half years, here in Cuba she is called Medium Technician. So my question is: will this be a reason to disqualify her? in your subjects you don’t have physics, chemistry and biology, do you think you should take a risk?
November 2, 2020 at 22:06
Hello Mr Simon. I won the Diversity Lottery 2021 but my case number could be high SA2xxx and i saw in your videos that probably we don´t have too much options. Can I take part in DV lottery 2022 without affect my actual process?
November 2, 2020 at 23:28
Yes
November 2, 2020 at 22:16
Brit, under this situation what no’s of Asia region will be considered as low case no’s? My case no is As 13xxx for DV 2021.. do u think I will nt gt a chance? Can’t it be a low case no as highest case no is As38xxx?
November 2, 2020 at 23:28
As I have already explained in articles and videos, a lot depends on the election. If Biden wins, thousands of people currently banned by the Muslim ban will be able to proceed. Hence – no predictions.
November 2, 2020 at 23:33
Hi Brit
Got my visa from the dv2020 in September so I’m a subject to PP 10052 and 9993. I was just curious if it’s possible to apply for ESTA before the expiration date of the visa? Or that means an automatic deny. My tourist visa was obviously cancelled.
I haven’t seen my American fiancé since February and I’m just curious if there’s any way to at least visit while being stuck in that immigrant ban situation..
Thank you
November 2, 2020 at 23:38
No your next entry to the USA must be using your immigrant visa.
November 3, 2020 at 00:18
Hi Brit, I remember I read somewhere on your blog that you can’t have 2 visa applications or 2 different visa applications at the same time but I’m not sure, can you please clarify how that works? thanks
November 3, 2020 at 00:20
I didn’t say that.
November 3, 2020 at 00:37
Sorry maybe I read it on the comments but I’m not sure, can you please clarify how that works?
I have to renew my tourist visa but I’m also a DV2020 selectee so I’m worried that if we win the case at court for the reserved visas and they start processing cases, my 2 visa appplications (tourist and DV) may interfere, because the consulate here allow you to renew your visa without an interview but is taking aprox 8-10 weeks for the renewals, if they decide you need an interview they have dates available in october 2021, so that might interfere with the process of the reserved DV visas, as both cases will be pending at NVC.
November 3, 2020 at 00:45
Again, I haven’t said that. So how can I explain “how it works” when I never said you can’t have two applications. You are assuming there is a problem that doesn’t exist, and asking me to explain it. I can’t speak to what you imagined.
November 3, 2020 at 00:55
I’m sorry Mr Brit, I will try to reformulate my question, do you know if it is possible to have 2 different visa applications (1 tourist visa renewal and 1 DV) pending at the same time? maybe I’m having issues with the language but I hope I can explain my point this time. Thank you
November 3, 2020 at 01:02
YES IT IS POSSIBLE.
November 3, 2020 at 04:27
Hi Brit, I have been issued visa, if everything goes smooth, I will land in USA for two weeks in early of Jan 2021, then go back home before final move. Question is what is the time limit, do I require to move to USA within 6 months or within one year? Thanks.
November 3, 2020 at 19:35
Please read the FAQ where that is fully answered.
November 3, 2020 at 06:59
Hello sir
I am a winner of the 2021 lottery. If someone registers the 2022 lottery with my 2021 photo, could there be a problem with my 2021 case? I am asking this question because I uploaded my photo to a website for checking but I am not completely sure about the security of that website.
Thanks in advance
November 3, 2020 at 19:36
That was a foolish thing to do. But no, I don’t think it would affect the DV2021 case.
November 3, 2020 at 07:30
Good evening Brit. In my country some people use the identity card to register.
1)Is it possible to register with the national identity document?
2?What will be the fate of those who use the national identity card to register?
November 3, 2020 at 19:36
1. “Possible” – yes – but wrong, and likely to lead to disqualification.
2. See 1
November 3, 2020 at 08:24
Hi brits
If i’m living in USA i have answer it question number 6? If i answer it what will be my answer YES or NO
November 3, 2020 at 19:37
I can’t answer vague questions – be clear.
November 3, 2020 at 08:45

No interviews are arranged yet for DV2021. When interviews are arranged, the 2NL says how to check the date. Read the FAQ to understand better.

Hello Brit, thank you for your help. My CN is 2021EU4XX, I haven’t submit DS 260 yet for some reasons. Am I late for processing? And if I submit it in this week and interviews start in January (let’s suppose) approximately when can I have the visa interview. Thank you!

You are not late.
Processing time varies – so submit when you are ready then wait and see when you get an interview scheduled.

Dear Mr. Simon,
Thank you for all the updates regarding DV2020.
What happens to a principal dv2020 winner if the embassy rejects the case of one of his derivatives for some reason? Will the principal gets denied too if the derivatives case is denied?

Not normally, no.
