Hi Brit
My case number is AS18000. I’m Iranian and I’m living in Hungry. I submitted my application on the end of July. I was waiting for an email to tell me to send my documents and inform me how and to which email address I should send. I am confused here. Because I do not know whether I should have been sending the documents immediately after submitting the online application or should I wait for further notice to send the documents. I would be grateful if you could answer me regarding this.
November 9, 2020 at 00:14
Wait to be asked to submit documents.
November 8, 2020 at 22:45
Dear Brit,
My father is dv21 selectee, the number is EU1600, Im 21 yo since september 2020, so I will age out in May 2021, what do you think about our interview chances before may?
Also, somewhere I saw that in this situation I should bring some paper that shows my rights about age out, where can I find that?
Thank you very much for your work!
Regards
November 9, 2020 at 00:17
I don’t know when the interviews will restart. Your father must make sure he has submitted DS260s and the documents. He should contact KCC to make sure he is ready for scheduling.

Hi Brit, So as Biden is planning to remov ethe muslim ban, 4 countries in Asia might get a chance with 8000 selectees.. But my question is those countries might also have selectees with high case no’s rite?? Only Iran might get case no’s below 10,000 rite? In that case other countries ( without muslim ban) with a case no of AS 13XXX, do u feel we are also at a risk?
November 9, 2020 at 00:24
All the countries will have some low case numbers. PLEASE go and look at the archive to watch a video I created about Asia specifically.

Hi
My sister was to be interviewed for the 2020 diversity lottery visa since April but up till now she hasn’t received a call nor an email concerning it. Do you think there’s a possibility because September has passed for the interview deadline?
November 9, 2020 at 00:26
In a normal year, her chance would be gone because the deadline passed. This year however, there was a lawsuit designed to help people like her – and that lawsuit is still being decided. I have discussed that in great detail – take a look at my archive for articles about that.
November 9, 2020 at 00:36
Thanks
Another question is my brother 2 years old son was born here but has been on vacation with his mother while my brother is here. Is there a possibility for his mother to bring him if doing the legal process
November 9, 2020 at 03:04
I have no idea what you are asking.
November 9, 2020 at 01:10
Hi Brit, How to find no of selectees for each FY?
November 9, 2020 at 03:06
I have posted that info if you read the archive, or go look at the VBs.
November 9, 2020 at 01:36
Hi sir .
My CN is AF6OK 2021
From the previous VB I haven’t seen such higher number so
1.How can I determine if such higher CN becomes current? ❤️
2. This year for Africa, almost 53k were selected so can u help me why my CN is 60k but those selected were 53k?
Thank u?

November 9, 2020 at 03:07
1. You will need to wait and see how high numbers can go.
2. Case numbers are not consecutive. Please read the FAQ at least.

Hello!
My husband has a child who he has absolutely no contact with due to his ex he signed over rights and custody. Can I apply for the dv2022? We have no way of getting a photo of the child and don’t even know what his last name legally is now as she’s changed it. I’ll be the sole applicant but I think we aren’t eligible because of this?
November 9, 2020 at 02:41
You cannot enter without listing your stepchild.
November 9, 2020 at 02:52
Thought so, hope I’m not selected now as it would be disqualified. There isn’t any way to get a photo of him otherwise it would of been fine 🙁
November 9, 2020 at 03:15
Hello Brit,
I have a Ghanaian brother who has won in the 2021 draw but living undocumented in another country. He wants to go back home and process his selection, but he doesn’t have a police clearance from the country he has been living-in for the past two year. He was refused to be granted the clearance because he is undocumented. What should he do? should he go back home and proceed with the selection process or forget about it?
November 9, 2020 at 04:19
He will be asked to provide a police cert for that country. If he cannot provide that, he can choose to try to process, showing evidence that he tried to get the PC, but he would need to accept the risk of denial.
November 9, 2020 at 03:23
Hello Britt,
Firstly,
I would like to take this time to thank you for all the support you’ve done to me and my family from day 1 till the day i received my Visa in the Oceania Region.
i had receive my Visa, and was also given the petition form to fill while there to bring my husband and children over coz they never attend the interview with me .
just a questions, how long will i be able to bring them over and if i will be flying over to the states by January 2021,will i be able to visit them within 6 months time???
November 9, 2020 at 04:20
It’s impossible for me to answer this sort of question because I know nothing of the case. The I-130 process takes around 2 years.
November 9, 2020 at 03:43
In 2019 program I was selected and during interview my Visa was denied due to my police record. Will that affect me with my wife as the main applicant in the 2021 program.
November 9, 2020 at 04:22
You will still need to show the police record – so the outcome could be the same as before. It depends on the nature of the problem shown on the police record, but the standard will be the same for you as a derivative as it was when you were the selectee.
November 9, 2020 at 04:08
Hi britsimon, I am 2021dv selectee ,I have a
qustion ,my WAEC name dose not have middle name, other document has will that be a problem for me,? Thanks
November 9, 2020 at 04:22
Normally, no.
November 9, 2020 at 06:58
Hello BritSimon and thank you for your work and help.
My husband and I have both applied for the 2022 DV.
I have a few questions please if that’s ok?
1) Does the amount of dependants affect your application?
We are a large family, however we have more than the amount needed to prove our financial stability and
my husband has the ability to earn more than enough to support us as a professional.
2) Is there an updated or approximate number of VISA’s granted in Oceania for the 2022 DV?
3) Is there any data to report whether applications for the DV have gone up or down in 2020 because of the
COVID & rioting situation in the US?
4) In our country any criminal offences under the age of 18 are wiped and a ‘clean slate’ is given, meaning
you have a clean police record from that point. Will any charges or court cases from before the age of 18
need to be provided? (20+ years prior) Do you think they would have an affect on the application?
[the offence has not drug or fraud related, long story short- someone got into a fight in highschool]
Thanks again for your help 🙂
November 9, 2020 at 14:42
You entered a lottery – you don’t see a tax accountant just because you bought a lottery ticket! Relax.
1. No
2. Changes each year – but will be around 800/850
3. No
4. If selected you can read the instructions and address that later.
November 9, 2020 at 08:28
Hi Sir
I hope you are doing great 🙂
Actually ; plz I need your kind advice and expertise
While filling the current dv lottery application , I have mistaken ( considering the order of box) I don t have a middle name however by mistake I have included my first name in middle name box and ticked no first name ( inversed) would it cause a problem if selected or could be remediated ?
Thanks a lot as i m overthinking about this .
November 9, 2020 at 14:38
If selected you will fix it later.
November 9, 2020 at 15:00
Thanks Simon , so I don t have to worry it won t be a ground to disqualification?? 🙂 wooow , thanks
You know we humans we make silly mistakes hahh
November 9, 2020 at 09:13
Hello, do you think that the VB will do a big jump starting February one ? since we won’t know how many will pass in January !
do you agree ?
November 9, 2020 at 14:36
We will see….
November 9, 2020 at 10:22
Hi BritSimon,
I am really concerned because yesterday I found out that I am a DV 2021 winner and I don’t know if I am too late or within the timing to submit the DS-260 (intending to send it today ASAP) and proceed with the rest of documentation required. Would you please orientate me a bit?
November 9, 2020 at 14:36
You are not too late so slow down and learn before jumping in blindly. Read the guide above, and use my DS260 guide to help complete the form without making errors.
November 9, 2020 at 14:55
Ok! thanks so much – It’s good to hear. I’ll read the guide to complete the form. There is something that keeps being unclear to me; that’s the order of listing the previous addresses. I lived in the same place until aged 16, then I lived in many other places, including the US. Do I have to list the addresses from the most recent ones to the older ones or viceversa?
November 9, 2020 at 15:24
Just go through the form, it will become clear.
November 9, 2020 at 10:23
Hello Brit
(IF) kcc is going to schedule interviews for January when they should send 2nls?
November 9, 2020 at 14:35
November.
November 9, 2020 at 15:33
Thank you Brit
I was also trying to apply for dv2022 so i noticed in my dv2021 application I didn’t put the full middle name ( it’s not actually a middle name it’s my father and grandpa name so i only put my father’s name) would that be a problem?
Knowing that i put it right when i submitted ds260
November 9, 2020 at 15:34
This error happened in the passport middle name section
November 9, 2020 at 16:39
Not a problem.
November 9, 2020 at 11:38
How is the going for dv 2020 who never scheduled for interview
November 9, 2020 at 14:32
We are waiting for the lawsuit, but obviously those who were not scheduled are more at risk than those who were already scheduled.
November 9, 2020 at 11:44
hi Brit I which to ask .I was ban from entering the usa 1.I which to ask if I could apply for dv 2022. 2 if I am selected will I be able to enter the usa
November 9, 2020 at 14:32
1. Yes
2. Not while the ban is in force.
November 9, 2020 at 11:48
Just finished watching your youtube video on interviews and read the webpage where other shared their inteview experiences.
Q1. Why in some cases that people had to provide a courier box at the interview? Is this requirement only applicable to certain embassies, eg Sydney?
Q2. Why were there cases where passports with visa approved were to be picked up by the applicant at the embassy at a later time/date? Again, is this only embassy-specific?
Q3. In the webpage of my local US consulate, they ask applicants of immigration visas (DV included) to first create a profile and register a courier delivery address. Do I need to do this? When to do this? before or after 2NL or even after interview?
November 9, 2020 at 14:31
1. Some embassies do that for the return of the Passport.
2. Embassy specific.
3. You will do that after the 2NL.
November 9, 2020 at 12:07
Hi Brit,
Can our daughter, who is 18, submit a separate DV entry for herself, in addition to my entry and my spouse’s entry where she is listed as dependent ?
Thanks
James
November 9, 2020 at 14:30
Yes
November 9, 2020 at 14:06
Hi Simon
November 9, 2020 at 14:16
Hi Simon am abit new on commenting hence the test comment before.
My Question; is the progression of the VB, affected by the case numbers actually actioned by the selectes, during each period ie; say of the 5700 current numbers only 2000 are actioned would that mean the next vb has a possibility of adding alot more numbers?
November 9, 2020 at 14:46
The VB at first is just a guess. Later it becomes a calculation based on embassy capacity and the number of applicants ready for scheduling.
November 9, 2020 at 15:47
Hi Brit! I am a DV21 selectee – OC900-ish – currently in the US on a H1B so planning on filing AOS. I have read online that DS260 isn’t required if filing AOS, is this correct? I have already paid my $330 fee and notified the DOS that I planned to file AOS, they mailed me a receipt but I have not completed a DS260.
November 9, 2020 at 16:42
The DS260 is optional for AOS. There is a benefit to filing it, but no need to rush. Study the link below.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2021-aos-only.342993/
November 9, 2020 at 16:45
Thank you! Also, apologies about posting that question twice, was having some issues with creating an account. I was also curious if you think OC900 will have a good shot at getting an interview?
November 9, 2020 at 18:34
The number should be OK.
November 9, 2020 at 16:12
Hello, good morning, my number is 2021SA4xxx and I would like to know if I have the possibility of reaching an interview in my region, I am very worried about that and thank you
November 9, 2020 at 16:43
Your number is high. It is too soon to know if you will get an interview or not.
November 9, 2020 at 19:45
De casualidad eres de Cuba?
November 9, 2020 at 16:18
Hi Brit –
I’m trying to help a friend complete the 2022 application now. We are both getting server/connection errors when we try to submit, with different browsers. Do you have any tips to get around this, and/or have you heard of others having this issue?
Thanks!
November 9, 2020 at 16:44
Check your network connection is good.
Make sure you don’t have multiple browser sessions (windows) open.
Complete the form quickly.
November 9, 2020 at 16:37
Hi Simon! Thanks for all your tips and videos regarding the GCL.
My wife is a DV2021 selectee. We were planning on going on holidays to USA next year. In case we want to proceed having the immigration sealed package, could we enter as tourists with our current B1/B2 visa and come back within the 6 months/expiration of the time given by the embassy?
Thank you very much
November 9, 2020 at 18:39
BTW, we did not receive the second email notice (SA25XX), is people receiving those emails now a days globally?
The good news for people in Argentina is that the consulate should open this week.
November 9, 2020 at 17:18
Dear Brit, I have tried filling out the DV2022 form countless times in Firefox, Chrome and IE without any luck. I keep getting an error message as soon as I submit the form. How do I resolve/bypass this issue? I have tried about 20 times and I have only one day left for successfully submitting the form. Thank you! PS Is there a different way to apply besides submitting the form on the website?
November 9, 2020 at 18:34
Check your network connection is good.
Make sure you don’t have multiple browser sessions (windows) open.
Complete the form quickly.
You can only apply on that site.
November 9, 2020 at 17:20
Hi Brit!
A DV 2021 selectee here! (Case number near AS7k) With so many months already lost and now a Biden’s win ;
1. How safe is this case number ?
2. It’s already been more than 8 weeks since I had sent my documents to KCC but haven’t got the ready to scheduling email yet! Are there any chances that my documents will be ignored and I’ll never receive the email ?
3. Are there any chances that we’re (DV 2021 selectees) having a January interview ?
November 9, 2020 at 18:33
1. It’s OK.
2. No
3. We will see in 2 or 3 weeks.
November 9, 2020 at 18:42
Hello Brit,
Why 2 pe 3 weeks ? Thank You !
November 9, 2020 at 23:14
Because January interviews would get 2NLs by the end of this month if that is possible.
November 10, 2020 at 09:19
How do we know if 2NLs are being sent or not? Do they indicate that somewhere?
November 10, 2020 at 18:37
No. My readers report that to me.
November 9, 2020 at 17:34
Hi Simon! I found you on youtube! First of all, really appreciate you taking the time of answering my questions.
You are a really good help in this process.
Im a dv21 selectee.
I have a question involving my school and university information.
Im from Venezuela, living in Argentina for the better part of 9 years now.
My school diploma and certified notes are back in the university. Didnt finish the university.
The thing is, due to the pandemic, the whole university is closed and i cant get a hold on my documents for the moment being because no personnel is getting in campus.
So, the question is, what options do i have? Having a letter from the dean would help my case if i submit the ds-260 without the complete educational info?
Thanks again.
November 9, 2020 at 18:32
You don’t need the educational documents to submit the DS260, so do that and then you can get the proof of educatio (High School and University) that you will need.
November 10, 2020 at 18:30
Hi there again.. thanks for answering, when im filling the form they ask for date of attendance arom – to
I not sure i can put an approximate date there. Would it damage in any sort of way my process?
Thanks Again!
November 10, 2020 at 19:22
No problem to use a best guess.
November 9, 2020 at 17:50
Davis
Hello, am a 2021 DV winner and i sent my DS 260 in July,am waiting for the Email from KCC for sending support documents but have not received, can i send the documents before i receive the Email from KCC, my case number is below 5000,thanks Simon
November 9, 2020 at 18:13
Your number is useless without the region.
November 10, 2020 at 09:23
Ok….Its Africa region,my case No. 2021AF4900, thanks alot for assisting in the process
November 10, 2020 at 18:38
It is better to wait until they ask you to send the documents.
November 9, 2020 at 18:27
Good morning Sir , DV2021
As you explained before about Asia the highest case number is about AS 38800 and number of selectees are 25604 and number of cases in asia about 14436 so,
1 – can we say that the number of the holes is 38800 – 14436= 24364 holes distributed between AS00000001 and AS00038800?
2 – can we say the rate of the cases is 14436*100/38800 = 37,2% that is mean the rate of the holes is 100 – 37,2= 62,7 %?
3 – Does KCC intend to distribute the holes between the cases in a certain way or it happens randomly without the intervention of KCC ?
4 – Could it happen for example that the number of holes between AS00000001 and AS10000 is more than the number of holes between AS10001 and AS20000 ? If no could you tell us why ,if it is distributed randomly without the intervention of KCC.
Thank you Sir for you clarification in advance.

November 9, 2020 at 18:59
Dear simon, i just applied for DV 2022 and due to technological issues i lost my confirmation code, is there anyway i can get it back?
November 9, 2020 at 23:13
When the results are ready to be checked (in May) you will be able to get your confirmation number then.
November 9, 2020 at 20:01
Hi, thanks for your support
I am Syrian living in UAE, my case number is AS000295XX
And Still I did not apply DS260.
Do you advise me to apply now DS260 or wait till Biden get in the office in Jan 2021 as at that time he will cancel the Muslim ban?
And based on my case number, when do you estimate my interview will be?
Do I have big chance here based on my case number?
November 9, 2020 at 23:11
You could apply now. However, your case number is very high, and since Biden won, I think you are unlikely to become current.
November 9, 2020 at 20:11
Hi Simon,
Would there be an official statement or report indicating how many selectees + derivatives there are in each region based on submitted DS forms?
November 9, 2020 at 23:09
No.
November 9, 2020 at 20:30
Hello, might the fact cause any problem that my husband an I were members of the Hungarian Christian Society in VeniceFL when we lived there for 1 yr? He was on F2 by then, and I was on F1. We wanted to be the part of the HU community there. Whe havent done anything special, these were just social events and gatherings. The question is asked in his ds260.
Thank you
E.
November 9, 2020 at 23:09
That has nothing to do with this process.
November 10, 2020 at 08:00
Thank you for the answer. I will fill out the form accordingly.
November 9, 2020 at 22:19
is it ok to share the confirmation number and digital signature of lottory with others? can they access to information or do something bad with it?
November 9, 2020 at 23:08
Just keep it to yourself.
November 9, 2020 at 22:48
Hi britsimon, thanks in advance for your guidance. I understand that with very low case numbers you have the option to delay your interview by delaying the submission of your DS260 and documents. From your FAQ example (pre covid i assume), if you submit December you could expect a March/April interview. My case number is low enough (under 50) to be in the first lot of interviews, and i would prefer to be interviewed in february, if possible and if they happen thn. I’ve submitted my DS260 and have been asked to submit the documents, would I be right to submit now?
November 9, 2020 at 23:19
I would wait until the end of November. You might get a February or March interview.
November 9, 2020 at 23:36
thank you!
November 9, 2020 at 23:31
Hi Brit,
I’m dv 2021 selectee, cn af28xxx. Keep waiting for request for documents sending but know request and I’m worrying and somehow becoming increasingly inpatient. My question is, should I sent the documents without request or still keep waiting for request? Thank in advance for your assistance.
November 9, 2020 at 23:43
Wait until you are asked.
November 9, 2020 at 23:46
Thank for your assistance and sorry for asking the same question two times.
November 10, 2020 at 00:19
Hi Brit,
I got my visa September. My i-134 Sponsor is in MARYLAND. One of my friend live in BOSTON and i also want to settle in BOSTON. First time entering to USA, is it ok or not… !! ( Different state )
November 10, 2020 at 04:00
No problem.
November 10, 2020 at 10:45
Hello brit, i wish you are fine sir
My case number is AS104××
Is this high?
My interview will be in spring right?
November 10, 2020 at 18:42
It’s not bad – maybe spring – wait and see.
November 10, 2020 at 15:45
Thanks again ?
November 10, 2020 at 00:23
Hi again BritSimon,
I am reaching levels of desperation with the section “Present and Previous Adresses” when filling out the DS-260 as this error keeps coming up after countless times trying to enter the addresses and the corresponding dates for periods of residency: “There is a gap greater than a month in the dates you have provided since the date you turned sixteen. Please include ALL addresses where you have lived since the date you turned 16 years old”.
What I have been doing so far is to enter my current adress, then I continue with entering the date I started living in the present address and then I click “yes” when asked if I lived in other addresses after I turned 16 (I have 12 different addresses where I lived from 2007 until 2019), besides my family home. The chronological order I have followed is from the most recent date to the older dates, backwards in time as indicated on the guide but I am still experiencing problems. I don’t know what to do..I hope you can help me with this maybe putting an example (in case I am missing something out). I really need clarification on this as I can’t advance with completing the form due to this issue.
I look forward to seeing your answers.
Many thanks ahead!
Gala.
November 10, 2020 at 04:01
Pay attention to the error message. It simply means you are leaving a gap between dates.
November 10, 2020 at 16:31
If your problem is thar the system crashes when saving all the addresses; try entering the addresses one by one and then save immediately after you enter each one, thats what i did.
November 10, 2020 at 00:56
Hi Simon, I think you did not see my earlier post. Here it goes again:
Thank you very much
November 10, 2020 at 04:03
You can enter on B1/B2 BEFORE approval, not after.
November 10, 2020 at 04:45
DV2021AS5XXX here. Already received email from KCC requesting documents.
Since I would not be able to attend my interview until June of 2021, I have been putting off the submission of documents until March 2021, as advised by you.
Q1. Now that Biden has won the presidential race and very likely he will lift the Muslim ban, would this case number become “unsafe” if I stick to my plan of putting off document submission until March 2021 because you mentioned in your post-election video that the Asia region will become more competitive as selectees from Iran and other previously banned countries are allowed back in.
Q2. If in Jan 2021, VB for Asia 6000 is announced and I stick to my plan of submitting my documents 2 to 3 months after my case number is reached in the VB announcement, would KCC put my case to the bottom of the pile ready for scheduling because I am late in submitting my documents? In other words, all conditions being met, does KCC schedule interviews according to case number or according to VB number recently announced before they go back to the previously called numbers?
November 10, 2020 at 17:54
1. No – because your number is low.
2. Once you submit (and processing is completed) you would be scheduled in the next monthly batch of interviews. No risk.
November 10, 2020 at 06:16
Curtis Morrison recently posted this tweet.
2 questions I keep receiving:
(1) I’m subj. to PP 10014, can I come before 12/31? &
(2) I’m subj. to PP 10014, can I wait to enter US in March, on day before my DV expires?
Answer: Plan your entry for Jan. 1. (for Schengen/UK/Brazil/China- spend 14 days in Mexico or Turkey 1st)
and these are the questions and his answers about his tweet
Q – What if Trump extend on 31dec, 2020 , and our travel plan one first Jan , at that time , we will not get the chance to to pospond our ticket
A – That’s true. But there’s never going to be a day where that’s not a risk. Remember President Biden is committed to controlling Covid-19- name a nation not using travel restrictions to do that?
Q – if trump extends the ban, will we know before 31/12?
A – Probably. But I don’t think he’s going to do that. I predict PP 10014 will not be extended. The political motivations behind it are no longer relevant, and of course, his lawyers are busy. I think there’s a good chance he’ll let it expire.
Mr. Brit what do you think about this? Because now I am worrying about the fact that biden can also come with travel restrictions in order to control covid as curtis has said

I am also a sri lankan. Transit through turkey is ok as I know

You don’t need to keep asking these things – everyone is speculating, you can speculate just as well as Curtis, or me, or Charles Kuck. None of use KNOW what will happen.
Delay your travel plans for a while and see if Trump extends if he doesn’t then January entry is fine, but just get a changeable ticket.

Hello Brit,
I am a 2021 dv winner .my case number is AF51000.
I have sent my documents to kcc since three months ago without recieving the email from kcc asking them ,and now the validity of the court certificate is over ,and I still do not not recieve any feedback from them .
1-Is what I have done is wrong and can this provoke a delay of my procedure or not ?
2- what shall I do in this case ?shall I resend the expired document or wait untill I recieve their email and see what they will be asking ?
3-Is translating documents from Arabic to English is necessary knowing that I am going to sit for the interview in the country where the documents are issued (Algeria)
Thank you !

1. It is not what I would have recommended, because until they are ready for your documents they could easily “lose” them giving you the impression you have submitted documents when you in fact have not. But your case number is high, so there is NO POINT in rushing the documents. There never was. No advantage, no point.
2. Wait. At some point you may need to resend everything. But for now, exercise some patience!
3. No.

Hello Brit!
I’m a dv21 winner, case number: 10xxx

Hi Brit! I’m a DV2020 winner and got my visa in September. I have a question connected directly with the presidential election so if you find it off the topic, feel free to delete it.
I’m wondering if there is gonna be any type of an official “pronouncement” of Biden becoming a president before January 20th when the official swearing-in/transition takes place? I just wonder if the results of the election can become any more official than just based on the internet/press anytime soon? Feeling a bit anxious in the face of Trump filing in all the lawsuits and his administartion doing its best to challenge the election results.
Thank you

Right now the result is NOT official. It is a predicted result. It will become official in early December. Trump can file all the lawsuits he likes, there is zero credible proof of anything significant enough to reverse the prediction (as Biden has a number of States each that put him over the 270 threshold). Trump’s nonsense right now is just a childish temper tantrum.

Hello, the role of kcc is only to gather information for the CO or it can also disqualify for some reason, and if so, for what reasons? thank you
November 10, 2020 at 18:38
KCC cannot disqualify any cases.
