oh brit, im dieing with laughing here
November 13, 2020 at 15:26
Hi Brit !
I’m asking this question for the second time and hope you don’t mind answering this!
It’s already been 2 months since I had sent my documents to KCC but haven’t received any email except that auto reply! And I’m getting a bit worried now! Is this normal or should I resend my documents!
November 13, 2020 at 18:57
Your number is not current yet – so there is plenty of time. Just wait.
November 13, 2020 at 17:20
Hi ! When i did my dv lottery 2022 application i had an issue with my adresse . My street name is too long and there wasn’t enough space in the first adresse line so i put just my street name in the first adresse line and the rest i put it in the second adresse line .I’ve heard that the mailling adresse section isn’t important in the application .
November 13, 2020 at 18:59
You are correct – that is not important.
November 13, 2020 at 18:47
Hi sir!
How high is case number AS68** from Nepal?
Thanks!
November 13, 2020 at 19:59
It’s not high.
November 13, 2020 at 18:58
You should renew your passport if the expiry date is getting close at the time of interview. Take new and old passports to the interview.
November 13, 2020 at 20:30
The problem is my old one is being taken when I renew it
November 13, 2020 at 22:04
So you keep copies of it. It’s not rocket science.
November 14, 2020 at 12:44
Thank you. But I know about it but the US Embassy docs says. The colored photocopy isn’t enough as proof
November 14, 2020 at 16:02
I stand by my advice.
November 13, 2020 at 19:38
Hi Simon,
21AS38XX
Is catching the virus prior to interview grounds for refusal/disqualification of a visa at the medicals/interview?
If not, what could be the consequences?
Regards
November 13, 2020 at 19:58
1. No
2. Dying.

November 13, 2020 at 20:58
Hi Sir
Am Steve from Liberia…My mom is DV 2020 winners,I want to know if all US Embassies will be open before the 9000 visa be issued… Bcuz if the US embassy in Liberia is not open before that time, probably she will miss the opportunity of geting the visa…all of her price has been done, and she is only waiting for her appointment.
November 13, 2020 at 22:03
I cannot possibly answer that.
November 13, 2020 at 21:30
Good evening sir. I had registered twice for the american lottery dv 2021 (principal applicant) And I am selected, .
1)will they check at the embassy how many times I registered.
2) can the CO refuse me the Visa since I had entered twice
November 13, 2020 at 22:03
1. Yes
2. Yes of course.
November 13, 2020 at 22:54
Hello Mr Simon, I would like to ask about the marriage certificate which I should send during the scanned documents procces, should I get the certificate translated in six languages or I can send a simple one only in my native language.. How is it required?
2- Do I need to scan a family certificate considering that I have my spouse and son included in my case?
November 13, 2020 at 23:34
1. There are instructions about whether you need translations or not, both in the general instructions and the email they send when they ask for documents. You should already know this – it depends on where you plan to interview. Read the instructions.
2. I don’t know what you mean by “family certificate”.
November 13, 2020 at 23:54
Hi Brit, sent u an email with case no’s of an asian country grup..Hope it is useful for u..Let me know
November 14, 2020 at 00:35
Hi Brit! I’m a DV2021 winner EU6k, its been 10 weeks since the day I sent my documents to KCC and I haven’t got a confirmation yet. Is it because my number isn’t current yet? Or should I send an email to KCC?
November 14, 2020 at 03:28
You can email them if you want.
November 14, 2020 at 06:13
Hello Simon ,
I e-mailed yesterday. Would please check for me. I am awaiting your advice. My email is samarita****@gmail.com
Thank you,
November 14, 2020 at 15:55
I generally do not answer emails, unless there is a specific reason for the information to be handled privately. Yours did not need to be asked by email.
I answer questions on my blog, so that others can read and benefit from the answer.
November 14, 2020 at 17:01
Hello Simon,
I understand your idea, eventually I am willing to handle privately my case only with you. Because I am a refugee here, I have a lot concern. Please I won’t write after this. I need your advice.
Thank you,
November 14, 2020 at 06:19
Hello Brit ,
I know all things dont pan out as imagined but how much chance (do you think ) do I have for immigrating to US? I am 2021 dv lottery winner case no 3k from Nepal . I am worried about embassy closure due to covid and cases are increasing here and in US . Do you think embassy will resume our visa interview anytime sooner(maybe after administration change)?I have heard opinions that Biden may close the country (maybe embassies too) for some period of time .
November 14, 2020 at 15:56
I don’t know what will happen.
November 14, 2020 at 07:04
Hi Brit,
Thanks for the previous reply. I understand your point. Do you think my case number #EU16XXX is ok for marrying at this time? Once KCC has sent the my case to Consular post, am I allowed to edit DS-260 and add my spouse?
November 14, 2020 at 15:57
The FAQ contains information on adding spouses. But you make things much harder by waiting until your case has been sent to the embassy.
November 14, 2020 at 07:42
Hello sir . The dv 2022 registration is finished, I would like to know how the draw process will be done.
We need explanations
November 14, 2020 at 15:59
If you had searched my page, or even googled, you would have found this:
https://britsimonsays.com/dv-lottery-draw-process-explained/
November 14, 2020 at 10:21
Hello Brit
I have a question about 2NL’s. Are all sent on the same day, or in a few days / weeks?
Thank you
November 14, 2020 at 16:01
In recent months they were being sent in two “batches”. The first a few days after the VB for the month, and the second by the end of that month.
November 14, 2020 at 11:28
hello Simon.
I am facing a problem with getting the police certificate from my country, because I should be physically present there to get it (no way to get it through the embassy).
I am studying abroad, and due to this Covid-19 situation I can’t travel to my country and come back where I am studying.
Looking for your advice ……
November 14, 2020 at 16:01
Have you read and followed the instructions on the reciprocity page for that country?
November 15, 2020 at 04:35
yes I did.
here I quote; ”Police, court, and prison records are available for individuals physically present in Sudan and are issued by the Ministry of Interior, Criminal Records.”
((I Know that Sudan is banned from lottery Visa, but we are expecting some changes by January.))
November 15, 2020 at 04:53
You didn’t read it very well. Pcs are only issued for those physically present in Sudan.
November 16, 2020 at 06:29
Yes, I am not expected to provide the PC from Sudan.
but I’m worried how far that is going to affect my chances.
November 15, 2020 at 04:54
currently I am in china, and I will do my interview in the US consulate here in china.
November 15, 2020 at 16:45
So you are NOT expected to provide a PC from Sudan!
November 15, 2020 at 17:09
Then you’re not required to submit a police certificate. This is what Brit meant.
November 14, 2020 at 13:11
Hello sir
I had a question. Is there a problem if we ask the CO to increase the brightness of his computer screen? Because my photo is a bit dim but it gets better with a lot of light.
Thanks a lot.
November 14, 2020 at 16:05
I suggest you answer questions as you are asked – that’s all.
November 14, 2020 at 13:17
Hey Simon. Question: I’ve been working remotely and as a freelancer. When the ds260 asks the address of that job. What should I write in? Thanks!!
November 14, 2020 at 16:06
Your usual “base” location.
November 14, 2020 at 14:12
Hi brit. I am a final year student of pharmacy. Do you think that being part of the medical staff is a privilege for me regarding to corona crisis?
November 14, 2020 at 16:06
No. You are a student, not medical staff.
November 14, 2020 at 14:29
Hello Brit, hope you are doing good. I have a question about work experience in DS 260. I included the work that I have now, another one and another one, also one summer job that I had years before. I didn’t work for 10 years, most of the time I was a student from 2012-18. Should I fill with information all about the 10 years like ‘high school student, ‘uni student’, ‘unemployed’ etc or just about the times I worked and the time I was a student is in the education information. Thank you!
November 14, 2020 at 16:08
You simply detail your occupation. No need to overthink it. Just answer truthfully.
November 14, 2020 at 17:59
hi if i am selected what types of questions should i be ready to answer during the interview
November 14, 2020 at 18:50
Read the FAQ.
November 14, 2020 at 18:20
Dear Brit, I have an issue with dv 2021 and need your professional view of point. In the first application for dv lottery I put the middle name for my little daughter (as name of father in a lot of former sovet union countries). But today I have discovered that it is a refuse in Kyrgyzstan, if there is a middle name in the first application form. While in Russia and Kazakhstan it is not a mistake and applicants are able to get their visas. How do you think what the main reason of such different estimation of visa counsels
November 14, 2020 at 19:09
I have not heard anything like that. The chance of disqualification for a minor derivative is extremely low.
November 14, 2020 at 19:15
According to her birth certificate, her full name is Ivanova Anna Sergeevna, but then we got a passport for her, there is no middle name, only Ivanova Anna. So in our case, because of her middle name “Sergeevna” we can get a disqualification…but only in Kyrgyzstan such rules…
November 14, 2020 at 22:48
Again, you are worrying for nothing.
November 14, 2020 at 20:12
dear Brit…..please whats the current update regarding the public charge rule DS 5540
November 14, 2020 at 22:48
I suggest completing a DS5540 to take to the interview.
November 15, 2020 at 06:47
Hello sir! I think the state department removed definitly the ds-5540. You can check in their official. There is no more public charge form to fill now.
November 15, 2020 at 10:48
Get your fact straight before writing non sense. The public charge is still there.
https://www.uscis.gov/news/public-charge-fact-sheet#:~:text=Final%20Rule%20Implementation,go%20into%20effect%20on%20Oct.
November 15, 2020 at 14:07
@Sammy so could you show us from which link we can download the form ds-5540?
November 15, 2020 at 17:02
@Stephane – LOL
November 15, 2020 at 16:59
@Sammy there is no need to be rude. Public charge rules have always existed, yes. Stephane was talking about the DS5540 which is currently blocked.
November 15, 2020 at 21:45
@Sammy here we are talking about dv lottery and then about the form ds-5540. So next time before to be rude try to have some update about dv lottery and US immigration.Thank you for your understanding.?
November 15, 2020 at 16:48
For now. My concern is that some COs will still ask for it because they might not have received the update to not use it. So – I personally would prepare it if possible, but the official sites for download have been removed.
November 15, 2020 at 17:20
SOrry I double copy the same link twice while the USCIS 4nov devel…is this one https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/public-charge/inadmissibility-on-public-charge-grounds-final-rule-litigation
November 15, 2020 at 17:11
I am confuse as well as the USCIS as a 4nov development that say the charge will be reimplemented > https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html
while the DVlottery site is back to an August update which say the opposite. > https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html
which if the 2 consider??
November 16, 2020 at 20:35
Again.
Public charge concerns are still in force.
The DS5540 is not currently required, BUT a CO may mistakenly ask for it.
Could that be any more clear?
November 15, 2020 at 00:58
Hey Brit
For social media identifier
I have 2 facebook accounts but one of them is with a nickname not my name, i used to ask anonymously on groups and so on, would that be a problem should i change the name of it?
November 15, 2020 at 16:35
List both accounts.
November 15, 2020 at 17:08
I surely did that.. but would it be a problem if one of this is under my nickname not realname
November 15, 2020 at 17:18
Of course not. Anonymity is respected in the US. They allow larger privacy protection exercises (like using TOR), why wouldn’t they allow you to stay anonymous on Facebook?
November 15, 2020 at 18:49
Thank you i guess im over thinking?
November 16, 2020 at 20:34
No
November 15, 2020 at 02:34
Hi Brit, My case number is 2021AS000024**, I am from Nepal and currently working in Dubai, I submitted ds260 and other requested documents and kcc replied “ Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current and appointments are available.”
I want to know:
1. When can I expect my interviews approx ?
2. Should I continue to stay and work here or go back to Nepal and wait? What’s my chances to be selected?
3. How important the phone number is which we provide to them in the form? If I leave Dubai should I keep the phone number I provide? Or I can fully rely on email only?
Thank you.
November 15, 2020 at 16:41
1. We don’t know whether they will schedule interviews in January or not. Wait and see.
2. You have to decide for yourself. I don’t know your circumstances.
3. Email.
November 15, 2020 at 02:48
Hi Mr. BritSimon
My old passport that i have used for dv entry is expired, and i have renewed my passport.
1.Now, do i need to unlock my DS260 form and enter my new passport details just, and resubmit it? Nothing more?
Thanks dear Mr. BritSimon, i will really appreciate i you could answer me clearly. Cause i have already unlocked my DS260 form and just waiting for your clear respond.
Thanks again
November 15, 2020 at 16:42
If you have unlocked already you can update the DS260 and resubmit.
You will need to provide scans of the old and new passports.
November 15, 2020 at 05:05
Hey Brit,
I’m from Ethiopia DV2021 winner CN AF60k.
My question is based on passport rule and CN.
On my entry, I didn’t submit passport information. At what month’s will I get 2NL based on my case number?
November 15, 2020 at 16:46
So you are likely to be disqualified – you understand that – right?
That number won’t be current for months.
November 15, 2020 at 05:13
Hello sir
Unfortunately on one side of my face, a 3mm shadow looks like a black or gray stripe. Do you think it might be a problem?
November 15, 2020 at 16:46
I don’t know.
November 15, 2020 at 08:58
if l send my passport and photo and the passport request how long does it take for them to send the passport stamped the VISA
November 15, 2020 at 16:50
I have no idea what you are talking about.
November 15, 2020 at 09:08
Hi Brit,
I just watched your last video and I’m so frustrated. I’m a dv2021 winner and like many of us, I feel like we are the forgotten ones. It’s all about dv2020.
KCC pace is extremely slow this year. It was not the case for dv2020 during the first 6 months. 9000+ visas have to be issued for dv2020 during the fiscal year of dv2021 which will slow even more the process for dv2021. No interview will start before January at best. And despite all that, all what we listen on Twitter, YouTube and so on is about dv2020.
Dv2021 will be much worse than dv2020 if things don’t change quickly.
You don’t owe anything to anyone, I know. I just feel frustrated and sad with all what is happening. It is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I feel like we have been stolen this chance. We can’t do anything from where we are and we count on persons like you to make our voices heard.
Have a nice day and thanks for your understanding.
November 15, 2020 at 16:55
Being frustrated doesn’t change the reality. The reality is that DV2021 is waiting. I don’t know whether KCC will send out 2NLs in November or not – and if not, yes it will impact DV2021 processing because although 9 months might be enough to fill quotas, 7 months will not be enough time. So that’s the reality, I have explained that many times, and there is nothing more you or I can do about it. The lawyers are doing what they can, but the legal process won’t be fast enough to make much difference.
November 15, 2020 at 09:43
I am a winner of the lottery 2021, my case number is 192235, when do you expect to schedule my interview
November 15, 2020 at 16:55
I have no idea. Your number is wrong, and there is no region given.
November 15, 2020 at 10:43
Hi Brit,
I watched numerous videos incl. your guide. I have 2 questions. 1. am still not sure: Upon submission of the DV260, there’s nothing I have to do. Yes? The next step is for the US to send me an email (IF) for the interview at the embassy (my case: in Bern)?
2. Question: I am from Switzerland, my number is 2021EU39XXX (I put x to be anonymous). That’s a high number as I understand. And, yes, I know everything is up in the air anyway… 🙂 Thank you so much. Linda
November 15, 2020 at 16:57
1. You send your DS260, then they will ask for documents at some point, and after that you wait for your case number to be current.
2. There is no question there.
November 15, 2020 at 18:20
Thank you so much! That’s helpful, Mr. BritSimon! Question 2, I am from Switzerland: My case # is : 2021EU395XX (I put x to anonymize). I am “at the end of the waiting line?”
November 16, 2020 at 19:40
Hallo Linda
I am in a similar situation. Let me know if you want to connect. There is also amerika-forum (Deutschland)
Anyhow, good luck and fingers crossed
November 16, 2020 at 20:41
Not “the end”, but it is quite high. You just have to wait and see how things go over the next few months.
November 15, 2020 at 13:05
Hello Mr BritSimon,
Will the kcc notice by email the DV winners if the submitted documents are missed or may have problem.
November 15, 2020 at 17:01
They don’t give specific info, so you need to be extremely careful.
November 15, 2020 at 13:44
Hello Britsimon,
I m an applicant and i recently got pregnant. What will be the consequences? Now will there be lower chance for me to get visa if positive results comes for dv?? Or do i need to change my status now?? I m very much confused!!! Can you please give me a clear picture. I m kinda scared
November 15, 2020 at 17:02
Relax, having a baby is not illegal and does not affect your chances. Read the FAQ about adding the child to your case.
November 15, 2020 at 17:34
Hey Brit,
I actually just got to know that I got pregnant today itself. Is it okay for dv2021? If yes than do I need to unlock and update my ds260, my case no is 12xx?
November 15, 2020 at 17:35
My case no is AS12XX
November 16, 2020 at 20:36
No problem. You do not update your DS260 to show you are pregnant. When the baby is born you add the newborn – the “how” is described in the FAQ.
November 15, 2020 at 15:04
Hi Simon, a DV2021 winner friend has a problem. Her registration in DV2021 was not made by her but by a relative from the United States, now her DS260 does not allow her to select an embassy and instead the option “I am in the United States and I want to adjust status” appears selected. I assume that in your registration there was the error of putting the United States instead of Cuba as your country of residence, the country of birth is ok (it is Cuba) is there a way to change this with KCC, do you have the option to fix this error?
November 15, 2020 at 17:03
Email KCC
November 15, 2020 at 15:27
Hello Simon, Hope everything is ok with you. As I mentioned last time, I am one of named plaintiffs of Curtis and I got visa to me and my children. My wife didn’t get bc of medical issue, now she got her medical result and she is fine. Additional case we just got a new baby…my questions…
1. if they give her visa (from the 9000), will they consider the new baby?…it was not on the DS260..
Thank your for your time!
November 15, 2020 at 17:04
I don’t know.
November 15, 2020 at 18:00
Dear Brit,
Are the documents, like birth certificate, college diploma and other may to be translated by applicant, or there are special translation places which are approved, like doctors clinics for medical?
Thank you.
November 16, 2020 at 20:39
Documents can be translated anywhere. The translator should not be anyone in your family.
November 15, 2020 at 18:25
Hi BritSimon,
I was checking out the visa bulletin on November 2020 and I see that Europe has the 4,800 visas per area of chargeability as per below: “For November, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2021 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number”. According to this – and considering my case number is 2021EU21xxx – does it mean I’ve lost m chance of having an allocated visa number and interview?
November 16, 2020 at 21:11
You are misunderstanding the VB. Your case won’t be ready under the EU number in the VB is higher than your 21XXX number. You haven’t missed anything.
November 16, 2020 at 21:38
Ok, I see. So according to my case number (2021EU21xxx), is there any estimate or way to predict if I am a potential selectee to be interviewed? I’m at the point where I don’t know how long the KCC will take to notify me confirming they have reviewed my DS-260 application to submit supporting documentation. Do you think my case number is likely to be given an interview? When will interviews take place for case numbers like mine? I have watched your videos but still feel a bit lost on this so I would really appreciate some clarity about it.
Many thanks Brit 🙂
Gala.
November 16, 2020 at 21:58
Right now we don’t know when interviews start, so that affects when they can get to your range. There are all sorts of other factors as well. So right now the only advice is be patient and don’t expect me to predict anything.
November 16, 2020 at 22:14
You are completely right, we will wait and see. Thank you for your prompt response!
November 15, 2020 at 18:26
Hi Brit, one question you’ve skipped through on your last stream that I would very much appreciate you’d answered..
What do you think, if Trump extends the ban, he is probably going to present it out quite loudly, right?
Won’t Biden than just immediately react / parry that he is about to cancel it as soon as he gets into the office?..
Thanks!
November 16, 2020 at 21:12
We can speculate the behaviors all day – but to what end?
November 15, 2020 at 19:01
Hi for all
I am a master degree student and I am expecting to finish my my degree on June 2021 and I have been selected for further processing on DV lottery 2021
I mentioned that i have a bachelor degree which i finished on 2014 and a master degree which I didn’t complete it yet.
so is that ok or i should unlock and mention the bachelor degree only.
November 16, 2020 at 21:14
Only the qualifications COMPLETED.
November 15, 2020 at 19:26
Hello Brit!
My case no is EU30510
Is any possibility that my case number will be part of the 9095 visas that will be issued for 2020?
November 16, 2020 at 21:14
I don’t know. No one knows. Wait.
November 15, 2020 at 20:16
Hi Brit, I have a question regarding surnames in the US.
In our country my wife uses her father´s surname as her own. That´s how it works here.
We´ve got married in our home country last year. Once we get to the US, is there any particular instance in which we must/can update her father´s surname to my own surname? Can this be done at POE? Thanks in advance.
November 16, 2020 at 21:16
Normally in the USA, marriage is a point where a woman takes the husbands’ name. You can go through a legal name change process here if you want – not at the POE.

Hi Simon,
I saw your video about dv 2020 us entry, I have a question, if the president decided to extend for another six months do I lose the visa or can I extend the visa ?
Thanks

At list don’t be thinking negative things all the time try to be possible, he can’t extend it up to 6 month because Biden will take over office on the 20of January mid day .so he can’t extend it beyond that

That question was answered in the video.
We don’t know. With current law it could not be extended, but that is one of the things the lawyers are trying to achieve.
However, it would be best to assume it will NOT be extended.

Hi! I am a winner DV 2021, but currently I am in US (as a student status). Is it better to go to the Homeland US embassy or to do adjustment of status?
Thank you

That is a “BIG” question. There are pros and cons of each process. The thread below has a spreadsheet linked from the first post in the thread that compares the two methods.

Dear Birt,
I am from Nepal and the winner of DV 2021. My case number is around AS84**. Is my case number too high or fine?

It’s a “wait and see” number.

Hi Brit
I have been selected in the lottery 2020/2021. Do you expect when my case will be my case number 2021AF00019xxx?
Thanks

Hi Brit ;
Thank you for all the useful information!
Once I receive my permanent visa as DV2021 winner, I know that I am supposed to enter the country within 6 months..
Would I be able to leave the USA , just after my first entry for few months (make it as an activation trip), I would like to immigrate but , I have few commitment in my current mother country and I won’t be ready before mid-2022 ,so I am thinking to do my first activation trip and return to my home country for few months before immigrating for good..
My concern, is not to be allowed back once I leave..
