Hello Britsimon!
Which embassy in Europe is easiest for DV interview? I mean that they are used to process cases and receive DV winners? For example US embassy in Stockholm has no experience.
Best regards
MERAL
January 13, 2021 at 01:59
Hi Meral, what makes you say that? I checked the CEAC data and in Dv 2019 12 cases were proccesed in the Stockholm embassy
January 13, 2021 at 02:37
You can’t draw a probability based on 12 cases.
January 13, 2021 at 08:56
Hello Mario!
Thanks a lot for your response! 12? Sounds good but still so little nr. Can you please send me the link so i can check the embassies? Does it show how many cases been approved and how many been denied?
Best regards
MERAL
January 13, 2021 at 02:35
You don’t get to choose the embassy, so why worry. You can check my embassy league table if you like.
January 13, 2021 at 08:53
Thanks for your response!
Can you send me the link please?
Thanks a lot

Hi Simon, I just had a thought to share. Noticing the comments on your Q&A and on the blog I’ve noticed that Kcc has apparently stopped processing. Do you think this will cause an immense backlog that could mess with the Dv? For example I’ve asked for my Ds-260 to be unlocked, but do you think it will take a lot of time because of the backlog of unprocessed cases?
January 13, 2021 at 02:36
Yes – the time currently being lost is extremely detrimental.
January 13, 2021 at 05:24
Hi brit simon
I filled ds-260 then i traveled to US before i get an appointment for an interview , should i filled another form ? Or it is preferable to return to my country for consular processing?
January 14, 2021 at 02:50
It’s a vague question, but generally returning to your home country would be better.
January 13, 2021 at 08:12
Hi Simon,
What this info shows us from xhartius web page.
There are 15250 cases before and 6275 after you in the EU region. That yields approximately 31881 people before and 13118 after you.
Thanks in advance!
Fuad
January 14, 2021 at 02:52
It really is what it says. It explains where you stand in relation to other cases.
January 13, 2021 at 09:01
Mr. Bithsimon,
Thanks for the prompt response. Kindly provide me this updated article with the recent USCIS guidance. My concern is that it`s possible that the CO may know about this issue of CSPA. It will be of help when the need arises.

Kindly provide me the link or page of this updated article so that I can access it.

Hi Brit,
Please do you have idea the highest case number KCC has sent mail asking for documents to in the African region?
Mine is 22***. Thank you.
January 14, 2021 at 02:57
I don’t know, but it doesn’t really matter.
January 13, 2021 at 12:47
Hi Brit Simon,
We haven’t received email requesting for supporting documents yet. 2021 AS 9***. We were in US in H1B and we have stayed in so many places in our country.
Do you think this might be reason for the delay in email for documents request.
Thanks ?
January 14, 2021 at 03:00
Maybe. Did you make it clear you wanted to process back in your country?
January 13, 2021 at 13:26
Hi Brit,
As primary selectee DV2021 with CN EU165XX, I have been informed to send the the documents to KCC. I am not certain, it does not mention about my wife. What is your view does it include my wife this letter or will she get separataly e-mail from KCC.
Thanks and regards
January 14, 2021 at 03:02
Only you will be emailed, but you are expected to provide documents for yourself and derivatives. The email is clear about that. Read it properly.
January 13, 2021 at 13:37
Yes. You should send the documents for each person that you are going to travel with. Better say for each person for whom you have compiled the DS260
January 13, 2021 at 14:47
Can me and my wife give interviews in different countries? I am the principal applicant and I am in another country.
January 14, 2021 at 03:05
Normally, no. However, due to the pandemic they may make an exception, but that could introduce some delays.
January 14, 2021 at 05:17
So it’s better if I go back home and we give interview together?
January 14, 2021 at 12:45
Yes
January 13, 2021 at 16:36
Hi Brit,
I’m a DV2021 winner in EU and the embassy in my country is only working for US citizens because of Covid. If the travel ban is lifted but the embassy is still closed to immigrant visas, can I change my interview location to another country with an embassy that processes DV winners? And assuming I can, would I need a lawyer or can I do the arrangements by myself?
January 14, 2021 at 03:07
You can do that, although at the moment they are not arranging any interviews. Read the FAQ about rearranging your interview location – you can do it yourself.
January 13, 2021 at 17:25

thank you!
January 14, 2021 at 03:14
1. No
2. No
3. Maybe, but I don’t think so.
January 13, 2021 at 17:53
Hello Simon,
My case number for the DV 21 is EU 38xxx . Do you think there is any chance to get a visa with this high number ?
I am from Germany.
Thanks a lot for the answer
Ralf
January 14, 2021 at 03:16
It’s impossible to predict. However, interviews have not started and the time being lost makes it less likely that you will get a chance.
January 13, 2021 at 19:02
Hello Simon do you have any predictions on how the movement for Europe will be in the next VB? Do you think there won’t be any significant increase? Thanks!
January 14, 2021 at 03:17
No predictions.
January 13, 2021 at 19:10
Hello simon
I’m 2021AS10k and I’ve unlocked my ds260 and resubmitted it at the end of december.
1.could this cause delay in my case?
2. Is all the document process going to repeat? (My changes have nothing to do with the documents) or i just have to wait for the confirmation of my documents which ive send before unlocking the ds260?
Thanks in advance?
January 14, 2021 at 03:18
1. No
2. No
January 13, 2021 at 19:44
I saw your latest live and you said that you don’t know why people will enter the lawsuit of Nicolette glazer ( because of her strategy ….. )
Can you explain this more please !!!
January 14, 2021 at 03:20
There is no need to join any other lawsuits right now. As for that lawsuit I don’t have any idea about her strategy.
January 13, 2021 at 19:55
Hi Simon,
I’m a Dv 2021 winner, however I was not familiar with your page before and submitted my documents quite early. I have received the response and I’m now awaiting an interview, but my number is SA39**
After reading your posts, I see that my number is quite high. I know you aren’t making any predictions, but my question is do you think it’s possible for my region to go current given that some countries here have lower Covid cases than others and their embassies will be able to process cases?
January 14, 2021 at 03:21
“I know you aren’t making any predictions”
Correct.
January 13, 2021 at 20:53
Hi Brit,
Do you know how Nicolette’s lawsuit differs from Curtis’?
Do you have an opinion on her track record? (Also DV related)
Thank you sir!
January 14, 2021 at 03:22
I don’t know anything about her strategy or track record.
January 13, 2021 at 22:55
Hi BritSimon,
I’m Dv2021 winner… I will be grateful for your assistance on the questions below..
1. I’m not married yet but I’m planning to get married after my visa is issued if God permit. Will that affect me in the future if I want my family to join me?
January 13, 2021 at 23:53
Hi BRITSIMON,
After obtained the visa , then I perform the traditional marriage without certificate and then impregnated my wife before leaving for the USA..After 3 years , then I come back to my country to certify the marriage so that I can go back to the USA with my wife and child
2. Will the consular think that my marriage was “SCAM ” before ?
3. Will I face any charges of breaking dv rules?
January 14, 2021 at 03:24
2. I doubt it.
3. I have no idea.
January 14, 2021 at 03:22
No problem.
January 14, 2021 at 00:12
Hi
Is there a way to speed up the process for a dv winner that already lives in the US?
January 14, 2021 at 03:25
Speed up compared to what? You can’t start your case before the case number is current – is that what you mean?
January 14, 2021 at 01:51
Hi Brit
I was issued a visa in September subject to PP10014. My police certificate has now expired but not sure whether or not I should apply for a new one even though Ive been through the interview process and just waiting to activate. Do I need to show a current police certificate on arrival to the USA?
Thank you for your time I really appreciate it
January 14, 2021 at 03:26
No you should not need that, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead and get it.
January 14, 2021 at 03:42
Thank you
January 14, 2021 at 09:17
Hi Brit,
I have sent all my documents to kcc twice now as requested but after some few weeks they replay saying they have processed my documents…however it has been determined that I need to submit further documents to complete my case and processing.
So honestly Simon!this is the second time and I’m really confuse what I need to do or what further documents they need from me.
I wrote to kccgov. asking what further documents I really need to add but they keep repeating the same thing in general.
Please Brit what do I do?or can anyone with similar experience advice me?
January 14, 2021 at 09:23
For the above comment on Glory,I’m a dv winner2021AF to be precise.
January 14, 2021 at 11:16
Which documents did you send them? Do you remember how you filled ur DS260, did you state anything there that makes you to provide more documents?
January 14, 2021 at 12:52
That isn’t precise at all. It helps when you provide a case number range as well as year/region.
January 14, 2021 at 12:49
You should be able to work this out yourself. There is a short list of documents needed – and obviously something in your DS260 shows you did not give all they needed. Some ideas:
Have you changed passports from the one you entered in the lottery entry?
Have you submitted documents for all derivatives?
Have you submitted all the police certs as required (could be more than one).
Have you submitted marriage documentation?
Really – have a think.
January 14, 2021 at 13:58
Thanks for the reply and ideas Brit.
Could it be my police certificate from Dubai?because on my DS260 I wrote Lived in UAE(United Arab Emirates).
But my police certificate has but Dubai on it though Dubai is still in UAE.
January 15, 2021 at 15:41
I don’t know.
January 14, 2021 at 09:23
Hi Brit,
I hope you are doing well. My police certs will expire at the end of June, 2021. My CN is not current yet. As you know all cases are currently at NVC. I have already sent my scan docs to KCCDVDocuments for processing.
When do I have to renew my police certs?
Once renewed, do I have to inform and send them again to KCCDVDocuments? Please advise. Thank you.
.
January 14, 2021 at 12:51
It’s hard to answer when you don’t include your case number for context.
Police certs last 1 year. If needed, renew it prior to interview, but it should not need updating to KCC.
January 14, 2021 at 14:05
My case number 2021EU16XXX
January 15, 2021 at 15:42
OK – so read my reply about 1 year validity.
January 14, 2021 at 11:43
Dear Brit.
I want to ask you one questions,
I had opened my ds260 to include my newly born baby, now if I submit it again after completion will kcc again ask me to send the documents or I need to send the documents after submitting.
2) Will kcc will mail me again after sending documents by stating that congratulation our record shows …….
please let me know
January 14, 2021 at 13:25
1. You should resend ALL documents for the whole family including the baby.
2. I don’t know.
January 14, 2021 at 13:02
Hi Brit,
On March 14th 2020 my husband and I travelled to the US (LAX) to activate our green cards – we are DV 2020 winners. We stayed for 2 days, and travelled back home to Australia. My husband is the principal DV lottery winner and I am the DV2 as a spouse.
We need to travel back to LA before the 12 month requirement – so before March 14th 2021. Given COVID-19 cases are very bad right now in L.A if my husband travelled to the US alone, before the 12 month expiry, and I wanted to join at a later date (after the 12 mnth expiry) – is there any leniency to reapply for some kind of spousal visa given the alien visa in my passport would have expired as I wouldn’t have travelled back to the US within 12 months?
Scenario 2 : If neither of us went back within the 12 months, my understanding is that we wouldn’t be able to apply for a re-entry I-131 because we are not based in the US. Is there any other leniences we would have access to here in Australia, to re-enter the US at a later date when it is safer, so we don’t lose our green card (lawful permanent resident) status.
We have been applying for the DV lottery the last 10 yrs and don’t want to miss this opportunity, but are very scared to move to the US in the current climate.
As always, so grateful for your time and thoughtfulness, Brit.
January 14, 2021 at 13:33
You are correct that an I-131 can only be requested while in the USA.
For residents that have stayed out of the USA too long, there is a visa process called the SB-1 and because of COVID you would both be likely to qualify for that – so given the difficulties in travel right now you could consider either scenario – whichever you deem safest. Approval for SB-1 isn’t automatic, but it should be pretty much a slam dunk. Email the embassy to get their perspective and setup a later SB-1 application.

January 14, 2021 at 13:53
Why are Australians so keen and despeate to move to the US ?
They are in a wonderful country already ?
Beautiful, sunny, spacious, developed, democratic?
They should allow people in less fortunate parts of the world immigrate to better their life
Australians already have it good? So why so desperate to move?
January 14, 2021 at 15:12
Yes i think so. Amazing Australia why you need to leave it? Please tell us.
January 15, 2021 at 03:07
Because some of us work in the entertainment industry and there is more opportunity in the USA then Australia
January 15, 2021 at 15:40
@Terry, everyone has their own reasons.
January 14, 2021 at 13:52
Hi Brit, I am a DV-2021 winner. My case number is EU131##, and I am from Republic of Moldova. Do you know if I have any chance to get to the interview? I haven’t got any email from KCC yet. Even though the interwies hopefully starts in march, what are my chances? I am very concerned. Thank you for your time.
January 15, 2021 at 15:40
Your number is not bad at all, but everything depends on when they start interviews. You just have to wait and see.
January 14, 2021 at 16:40
Hi Brit, please what will happen to the Curtis Morrison’s case (Jacob v Trump) when Trump leaves office on 20th January?
January 15, 2021 at 15:42
The case will continue against the government.
January 14, 2021 at 18:13
Hi Simon,
On the July 28th we sent the DS260 forms to KCC and got an automatic response, that our forms have been received and are being prcessed. Since then there has been no communication from KCC. Our case number is sub 5000 so it is highly unusual, that we haven’t even received a document request email. We have emailed the centre to enquire about the status of our application on numerous occasions but have not heard back. On November 23rd we sent over all the necessary documents hoping that this will promt some kind of response, yet once again nothing. From what I read on the official website applications may take a while to process, 3-6 weeks after submission, even with low numbers however in over 6 months we have heard no adequate feedback on what is going on. On multiple occasions I have called the centre and heard the same response, that the KCC is unavailable and that we should send an email. I have been going round, this circle for months and do not know what else there is left to do.
Is there anything that you would recommend doing that I may not have already thought of?
Kind regards
Aleks
January 15, 2021 at 15:49
No – you are doing the correct things. Just keep trying to contact them.

January 14, 2021 at 23:21
Dear Simon,
I hope you are well.
I am DV 2021 winner from France. KCC have been asking me to send by email the required documents for the processing.
I have 2 questions :
1) I have 2 police certificates (because I lived in Netherlands more than 6 months during my life). My question is about the naming convention of the 2 police certificates : Should I write for the French police certificate : 2021EU000XXXXX_Jane_Doe_Police_Certificate_France.pdf and for the Ducth police certificate : 2021EU000XXXXX_Jane_Doe_Police_Certificate_Netherlands.pdf. Or Should I not specify the country in the naming convention ?
2) Back in Octobre 2019, I entered the DV 2021 lottery with my current passport which is going to expire in December 2021. I am going to renew my passport in February 2021 so that I make sure I have at least a year of validity before the interview. I plan to send the required documents to KCC by the end of January 2021 (and thus I plan to send the passport with which I entered the DV 2021 lottery with the expiration date of December 2021). My question is : Should I wait to get the new passport before sending the documents to KCC ? Or should I send in January 2021 the documents with my current passport and I will make and additional email in February to the KCC with the new passport attached ?
Thank you so much for all your hard work and your help.
EU000XXXX
January 15, 2021 at 17:22
1. The naming convention won’t harm.
2. Either way is fine. You have hidden all of your case number so I have no idea whether you will be current soon or not, but given interviews are not starting yet, there is time to play with.
January 15, 2021 at 17:41
Thank you so much Simon. My DV 2021 number is EU00020K.
My sincere condolences for your loss.
Take care.
January 15, 2021 at 17:44
Ahh ok – it will be a while before you are current then. No need to rush.

Hi Brit,
My deepest condolences to you and your family, thanks for always being here for us.
If you don’t mind Brit,I wish to ask you this, on my DS260 I wrote lived in UAE(United Arab Emirates) but my police certificate for that has but Dubai on it, though Dubai is in UAE.
Is there a problem with that?will KCC think it’s different?
or when naming the document to send should I write Dubai_UAE ?so it will be clear.
What do you think?
January 15, 2021 at 10:32
Am having a simmilar scenario i live in Abudhabi uae but my pcc reads Dubai police. I dont know whether i should acquire for Abu dhabi police.
But for your case its fine
January 15, 2021 at 17:34
Thank you.
I think they know where Dubai is, but I don’t know if that has caused any problem.
January 15, 2021 at 08:27

January 15, 2021 at 17:48
Thank you.
January 15, 2021 at 15:52
Hi Brit,
Please accept my condolonces for your mother. My question is about my profession. I am retired engineer. While I was filling the DS260 form it was asking primary occupation and other occupation. I filled primary occupation as a retired working almost 30 years in y profession, and secondly declared that other occupation as a advisor in a company. Presently I quit that company. So I have not worked 2 years in my profession in the last 5 years.
Do you think this might be trouble? Do I need to work until the interview time to have better chance?
Thanks
January 15, 2021 at 17:47
The 2 years within the past 5 years is a requirement about people that want to use work experience to qualify. If your education meets the requirements however, the work experience will not be a consideration. They won’t care.
However, if you are not intending to work in the USA, they may ask you how you will survive. So they may have “public charge” concerns. Be prepared for that.
