March 5, 2021 at 17:15
I don’t think so.

Hello Brit simon, I hope you are going well, courage and health to you for the struggle you are fighting to help us. I am Dv2021 selected, CN 2021AF32Xxxx and My problem is: on my diploma, I have an authentic name (MAF**** MINA****) and on my passport (ZO**** MAF****).
The legislation (President MOBUTU) of my country had forced the people of the time to change or add a name to the former (Zaire, currently Democratic Republic of Congo). My concern, can I insert the name on my diploma in the section OTHER NAMES USED in the DS260? Please advise me.
March 5, 2021 at 17:16
Yes use that section.

Hi Brit. Dv2021 winner CN EU10xxx already current in the March VB. We asked KCC about our documents sent back in September 2020 and they answered with the automatic requesting documents reply. So we checked our documents to be sure everything was correct, like we did before, and we sent them again. How long do you think we should wait before asking if they received our documents properly in order to be scheduled for an interview? Why they keep asking for documents if we already send them and they are correct? Thank you
March 5, 2021 at 10:01
We are parents of US citizen under 21 years of age, so not subject to the schengen ban.
March 5, 2021 at 17:17
Ask again. They ask for documents again, because as far as they are concerned they can’t see the documents are processed. The other department may be processing them, but you should be very careful to check what you sent.
March 5, 2021 at 17:36
We sent exactly the same documents we sent the first time.
March 5, 2021 at 12:26
Hello Brit. Thnx for your time. I am a dv2021 winner and i havnt sent my ds260 yet. i had a baby in january . Last year a friend of mine was denied visa bcos he added a baby he had to his case. Am afraid that may happen to me too.what do you suggest i do? Pls advice me
March 5, 2021 at 17:28
Your friend probably lied to you. People have babies. That is normal. No problem to add a baby, assuming the baby is yours. Don’t mess around – add the baby on your DS260 and create a DS260 for the child.
March 5, 2021 at 12:28
I-134 is asked in every embassy?
March 5, 2021 at 17:29
Every embassy CAN ask for it, but it won’t be asked for in every case. So – having it ready reduces your risk of delays.
March 5, 2021 at 12:34
Hey Simon one question. I have the opportunity to get a second passport from El Salvador, I’m from Venezuela. It would be very helpful for me given that it’s fairly difficult to renew Venezuelan passports. Anyway, in the ds-260 I selected that I didn’t have any other passport. Which was true at the moment. Do you think I should get my New passport and just let them know at the interview? Contact KCC so they can unlock my form and update it? drop the idea altogether?
Thank you.
March 5, 2021 at 17:30
It won’t affect your case in a negative way.
March 5, 2021 at 13:05
I’m a DV 2021 winner , While completing my DS – 260 I have filled the field ( Highest Level of Education ) as Completed ( UNIVERSITY, NO DEGREE ) because I was student at my last semester at university.
Now I have completed my university degree and received my certificate.
Do I need to unlock my DS-260 and update it? Or it will be enough to bring my certificate to the interview? i’m afraid my application will delayed if i unlock it now.
Many Thanks for your support
March 5, 2021 at 17:52
You don’t need to update that.
March 5, 2021 at 13:12
I doubt there is any country except Iran with such weird rules around its financial regulations! We are a family of two and totally baffled how much money should be in our bank account! There is a governmental price and public price if I wanna refer to without any ambiguity; in the first system the price for Dollar is 42,000IRR and in the second one is around 250,000IRR! So here is the point, if we want to cover 125% of the poverty line(according to the table)we will face with this dilemma; in the first system we need around (960,000,000IRR,or 96,000,000 Tomans)which is equal to 23000$ and in the second system we need around (5,750,000,000IRR or 575,000,000 Tomans) credit in the applicant’ bank account. This is ridiculous! Will consulate officer question us if we show a letter from our bank with balance of 575,000,000 Tomans while the reference dollar is being 42,000 tomans?! Or will he become suspission about the source of money?! Do they know about such corrupt disadvantage in Iran? Honestly 575 million tomans is not such big money let alone 97 million tomans, you won’t be able to by the chipest car in this country with 96 milion tomans! So Brit, could you please tell me what is the wise choice to be done? There is another thing and that is public charge form, should we take one with ourselves to the interview? Should we provide the deed of our house and our cars and also other forms of properties if the money in our bank account is not covering the poverty line?
March 5, 2021 at 17:53
The best way to overcome this is an I-134 completed by someone you know in the USA. Read the FAQ.
March 6, 2021 at 07:05
Hello SIMON
HOPE YOU ARE FINE… PLEASE MY CASE IS CURRENT AND HOPPING TO RECEIVE MY 2NL SOON. CAN I LET MY HOST FILL MY I-134 AND SUBMIT?
March 6, 2021 at 14:46
Wait until you receive the 2NL
March 6, 2021 at 08:16
I know as you told me before, but I don’t have anyone, and I have enough to cover that issue! What I don’t know is having 136000$ dollars in my bank account troublesome?!
March 6, 2021 at 14:50
No
March 5, 2021 at 13:26
Hello mr Brit Simon thank you so much for the help
I have a question if applicant have had syphilis and had been treated is that going to affect his case
thank you again
March 5, 2021 at 18:37
No
March 5, 2021 at 15:45
Hello Brit. Hope you are doing well. Can one do a medical check up while she is two months pregnant and will that reduce her chances of getting the visa. Dv lottery winner here. Thanks Brit
March 5, 2021 at 18:41
You can safely have the medical at any point in the pregnancy – sometimes they will use a shield for the abdomen.
March 5, 2021 at 17:10
Hi Simon, I live in Ukraine. I just received a 2NL for the interview on April 20. You can inform your followers that there is a movement in Europe.
March 5, 2021 at 18:02
Hello Victor,
Congratulations.. Would mind to tell us from which month VB you are current?
March 5, 2021 at 18:30
Hi Anu, I was current in October, my number is 8**.
March 5, 2021 at 18:48
Thanks Victor. All the very best and God bless
March 5, 2021 at 18:53
Thank you. You too!
March 5, 2021 at 17:24
Hi Simon,
21AS38XX
1) In form i-134, under Dependents’ information, is it supposed to be filled with other people’s info that the person has sponsored? Or does dependents mean children/spouse etc. only?
2) If dependent means the person who has been sponsored, how long does it take for them to stop being “dependents” once they are settled in US?
Regards
March 5, 2021 at 18:51
1. Your derivatives.
2. There is no time limit on this form.
March 5, 2021 at 21:20
So to be crystal clear, in that space, the person providing the i-134 has to mention details of the people he/she has sponsored before (as dependents).
Since I have no derivatives (I am the principal), I am the beneficiary, but once he/she has sponsored me then I become a dependent.
Am I right?
Regards
March 6, 2021 at 04:54
That person can read the form and the instructions for the form.
March 5, 2021 at 17:26
Hi Brit, I would like to ask regarding the address filling in DS260, address in police certificate and address that is filled during first time entry of dv2021.
So, I have submitted my DS260 with the address of what I wrote for very first time during the Dv2021 entry submission, which is the current address where I am living.
However, my current national ID, as well as driving license, etc are referring to the old address in the same city of where I am now. Hence, the police certificate also refers to that. By means, this address is actually act as my “previous address” in my DS260.
**(Because it is quite impossible to change the whole address from National ID, driving license, etc. It is gonna change the whole structures by mean an extremely complicated process. Because the national ID here is acts as a Permanent /no expiry date.)
How do you think about this?is this okay/should not be a problem?
Thank you
March 5, 2021 at 18:53
No problem.
March 5, 2021 at 17:48
Hi Simon
Regarding the sponsors W2 /1040 and payslips … I’m wondering for which period the docs must cover?
My sponsor is talking about last year tax returns and still waiting for the 2021 one.
Tell me if I’m correct:
W2: he must send 2020 and 2021
Payslips: let’s say last 3 months ?
1040: I have no idea what this is
Thanks for your clarification
March 5, 2021 at 18:55
W2 and 1040 both would cover the 2020 year.
Payslips for last couple of months is fine.
March 5, 2021 at 18:00
Hi Simon
In my country, documents are required to be translated into English. When I want to send documents to KCC, should I send the original or the translated copies , or both ?
March 5, 2021 at 18:55
Both. Just like the instructions ask.
March 5, 2021 at 18:19
HI,I FORGET TO MENTION i visited Morocco in ds 260 so i have ot ask to unlock
March 5, 2021 at 18:27
Dear Simon, hope you are in good health. And praying for your good health n good life. Today I want to ask tat I forgot to mention one passport it’s official one and got expired also. I got selected in my personal passport number. We are not allowed to carry official passport and it’s with office. So do I need to mention this official passport in dams 260 form . If yes I need to unlock ds260 form and send the documents again. Please let me know. CN-21as6xxx
March 5, 2021 at 18:59
I’m not sure what you mean about personal passports.
March 5, 2021 at 19:33
Hi Simon,
My CN is 59k in AFdv21
Can I ask my host in the US to fill the 1-134 now n send to me ?
Thank you
March 5, 2021 at 19:49
Hi Brit,
I am from Djibouti with lower case number AF29** and a friend of me with a case number higher than me ( AF 37**) received his 2nl today. I sent all my documents and was ready for schedule long time ago. Do they send the 2nl as they want without respecting the number hierarchy ?
Should I write to KCC to inform them that my status was ready and would like my interview scheduled?
Thanks for everything Brit.
March 5, 2021 at 19:54
Once cases are current, the number doesn’t matter to determine which cases are scheduled first.
March 5, 2021 at 20:21
Hi Brit, so for scenarios like this what do you advise the applicant do?
March 6, 2021 at 03:50
Exercise some patience.
March 5, 2021 at 20:03
Hi Simon, thanks for helping us on this.
at the time of my DV260 entry (and the DV lottery form entry before that) , me and my family had a different active passport. and filled in the passport details with that at hand. From DV260 entry to now, when we need to submit the documents, we have to change passports due to expiry of some visas and running out of visa pages on the booklet. So now we have new passports with new numbers, expiry dates etc. Old ones (that are on DV260 and on DV lottery form) are inactivated but still in our hands.
so what passport document i should send to KCC now over email, which one of the below options you would suggest:
1. send the copies of the old passport, (despite having a new one)
2. send both the old one and the new one on the same .pdf and maybe explain the situation on the same document with a remark.
3. just send the copies of the new passport bio page,
appreciate your guidence,
Onur

Hi Mr. Simon thanks for your endless support towards all the Dreamers. My concern is about public charge since the public charge form was pulled down from government websites.
1. DOES itmean the rule is nolonger in operation?
2. What documents people with no affidavits of support prepare instead?
March 6, 2021 at 03:49
I believe it is still being argued. For now, the DS5540 isn’t needed, but the I-134 may be.
March 5, 2021 at 20:13
Hi Brit … How are you doing ? I sent you a private mail yesterday with two photos attached. Can you please tell if you are seeing difference between both photos ? Thanks
March 6, 2021 at 03:50
My opinion is unimportant, the ONLY person who can decide is the CO.
March 5, 2021 at 20:15
I just need your opinion about the old photo and my current apparence .. just do me that favor… I promise I will not bother you anymore
March 5, 2021 at 20:21
Hi Brit, thanks for all of your support. Please confirm whether it is either of W2 or 1040 or both to support I-134.
Many thanks. AF51xxx

Hi simon,
Im a dv2021 winner. My CN is AF8k, i filled my ds260 in june (but i unlocked it in October) and submitted my documents probably 6 mouths ago and still didn’t get my confirmation. I email kcc every week and still ending up getting the same response that my ds260 has been processed and i should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving me instructions to complete my case. And I was wondering if i should be worried, considering all the numbers below 16k in the region of AF received their confirmation.
Any idea what should i do besides emailing kcc every week?
March 6, 2021 at 04:50
I think you need to carefully check the documents you have sent.
March 6, 2021 at 14:13
Hi simon,
thanks for the response, I just checked my documents and im positive that i did everything the right way im single and from Morocco, never left the country, so i submitted the basic documents ( passport id page, birth certificate, police certificate),i named every document the right way, the email was the righ size, after that i received an email from kcc saying that they received my email and they are currently processing my documents, i don’t really know if that matters cuz it was an auto reply, i was thinking that this delay was a cause of the unlock of my ds260 back in October.
Do you think that unlocking the ds260 affected the process in my case??
March 6, 2021 at 16:00
No.
March 6, 2021 at 17:03
And do you think i should send kcc new documents???? or should i wait a little bit more considering they’ve already asked me to send them in August and i sent them back then??
March 6, 2021 at 07:57
Hello Mohamed,
I’m facing a similar issue here and I’m thinking of sending the documents again. My case number is current too, AF
March 19, 2021 at 20:36
Hi there i really struggled to find your comment, you said you’re facing the same issue here, i really dont know where are you from, but you should know the cases receiving their confirmation in your home country right now and if you’re below those cases, maybe you should resend your documents cuz that’s what i did and i received my confirmation in less than 24 hours.
March 5, 2021 at 20:50
Hello Simon do you think that they can schedule all 22K documentarly qualified cases for april ? of course at the available embassies
March 6, 2021 at 04:50
There are nowhere near that many cases.
March 5, 2021 at 21:19
Hiii simon hope you are doing very well.
I’m from africa 18k 2021 Dv winner Unlock the DS-260 form does affect delay the proccess?
March 6, 2021 at 04:53
Not normally, but the point is whether the documents are processed or not.
March 5, 2021 at 21:39
Hi Brit,
DV winner working in a us company in Gulf, is there a chance to keep my work without facing the risk of losing the green card? Any chance to pay tax from abroad while keeping my LPR?
Thanks
March 6, 2021 at 04:56
That is possible – but why have you got the GC if you don’t want to live there?
March 6, 2021 at 08:17
I definitely want to live there however I wanna figure out if I can finalize my contract then move to the states.
March 6, 2021 at 14:51
Well if you can get more clarity you could use a re-entry permit. Read the FAQ about absences.
March 5, 2021 at 21:57
Hi Simon,
me and my wife are married by 2002 and the marriage book (marriage certificate) unchanged and current. By 2009 i have translated it to English (from its original Turkish) and approved by government while we were moving to our current country of residence. The approval is done by both Turkish and the current government by then, and original document is with me. we are applying from the country of residence (and not from Turkey)
question is do i have to re-translate the document, or can i use the 2009 dated document which still is in effect (as we are still married and the document is still the one in use by Turkish government)
regards,
March 6, 2021 at 04:57
Read the instructions for your county.
March 5, 2021 at 21:59
good evening mr Britt i am a winner at dv 2021 and i am of congolese origin living in russia for studies is it possible to apply for a visa in russia and what is a 2nl
March 6, 2021 at 04:58
Yes you can process your case from Russia. Please read the FAQ.
March 5, 2021 at 22:01
Good evening Simon. Firstly I would like to thank you for all the effort you are doing. This is a great help for all of us.
I would also like to ask you few questions.
1. When I sent the documents to KCC as I was asked to, I sent of course my criminal records previously translated, so my question is. Do I need to update my criminal records again and bring it to the interview as well, the old one (the one I sent) and the updated? the criminal records expires in 6 months al least in my country.
2. I’m bringing to the interview my University degree, but I don’t know whether or nor I must translate it as well. I’m from Cuba and its in Spanish.
Thanks in advance. Best regards.
March 6, 2021 at 05:00
1. The embassy will accept the police certs up to 12 months.
2. If the embassy you are interviewing at is in a Spanish official language country, then no.
March 7, 2021 at 15:42
I’m going to GUYANA, Georgetown, the official language is English, so I asume I must translate it. Thank you so much.
March 5, 2021 at 23:01
Hello. My wife is a winner for 2021 DV. My ques is while filling out the dv lottery forms we were legally separated. Now as she has won dv n still not divorced. It is a good idea to unlock ds260 n change the relationship status married? Or with legally separated status can I to be eligible as a derivative. Thank u
March 6, 2021 at 05:02
If she was legally separated, but you have now reconciled you could try and add you back on to the case, but they will insist on seeing documentation about the separation.
March 5, 2021 at 23:17
Good Evening Brit,
I am still hoping for 2020 dv interview to be schedule. The march is awaited month for me. Since this is the starting of march is there any news for court case for dv 2020 winners who did not got chance for being interviewed?
Thank You
March 6, 2021 at 05:03
We will know more in April.
March 6, 2021 at 00:29
Hello Simon,
Went I filled my DS-260 I set the interview location as Vancouver, Canada (where I reside) as it was presented as an option. It turns out the only USA Consulate in Canada which provides Immigrant visa services is in Montreal.
Is this likely to cause issues? Is it worth trying to get the interview location changed to Montreal or will they do that automatically? I have no problem flying to Montreal for the interview if needed.
Thanks
March 6, 2021 at 05:03
They will automatically ignore your choice.
March 6, 2021 at 01:52
Hi Brit, Does embassy keeps your passport duting AP, for example if your police certificate is not ready at the time of interview.
March 6, 2021 at 05:03
Normally, yes.
March 6, 2021 at 03:01
Hello Brit thank you for your support, I am DV 2020 winner and I already arrived in US. I heard it takes time to arrive green card, I have two questions:
1. Can we work without green card & social security number? (with Visa Stamp in Passport)?
2. Can we apply Social security number before arriving green card? (if yes how and which documents are require)
March 6, 2021 at 05:04
1. Yes
2. Yes – check the SSA about that.
March 6, 2021 at 14:15
Thank you sir
March 6, 2021 at 03:10
Hi Brit ,
I have arrived to USA yesterday , I would like to ask how can we know how long will take to get the SSN and green card
March 6, 2021 at 05:05
The SSN about 3 weeks, the GC up to 3 or 4 months.
March 6, 2021 at 10:55
I believe they will send if directly to address , How can I follow up the status
March 6, 2021 at 03:14
Hi Simon, do you know of any Australians getting 2NLs for 2021 in Sydney yet please?
Thanks.
March 6, 2021 at 05:05
No
March 6, 2021 at 03:52
Hi Simon.
Have you sent 2nl to the country “Argentina – embassy of Buenos Aires”?
March 6, 2021 at 05:06
I have not heard of any.
March 6, 2021 at 05:56
Hey Brit,
I’m preparing my documents. Should I attach certified translation and the original document separately OR they should be combined in one file?
And it’s possible to combine them, then should I put the original first and then the translation? Or the other way around?
Thank you so much my dear Simon!
March 6, 2021 at 14:40
You can decide those things.
March 6, 2021 at 06:34
Hi Brit, hope all is good? Am Dv2020 and a non plaintiff who had received ready for scheduling mail since March 24th 2020.
a) any hope for me on the 9095 visas ? From Africa cn48000
March 6, 2021 at 14:43
It is too soon to know – April.
March 6, 2021 at 06:45
Hi Simon,
so how is it that some of the DV2021 winners have already been asked for their documents where others have not been. What is the logic behind that? We have submitted our DS260 almost 8 months ago and still have not been asked for the documents yet I see many have received requests for documents almost right away even when the embassies have still been closed. Should we be concerned that our application was not filled out correctly or something is wrong with it? The lack of communication is so frustrating and alarming. Any wisdom you can impart?
March 6, 2021 at 14:45
That is normal. They “sort of” go in case number order, depending on their workload. So it is very normal. Also, some DS260s are fast to process, others are not. All normal.
March 6, 2021 at 09:07
Hi Brit Simon,
Just wanted to share great news! We were scheduled an interview on April 28 in Vilnius, Lithuania, EU. We are dv2021 EU6***.
You are our angel ?
March 6, 2021 at 15:29
Go Schengen area!
I’m sure you know, but they may issue a visa subject to the Schengen restrictions, If that is still in place when you come to travel, you would need a 14 day stay outside the USA and Schengen before you enter.
March 6, 2021 at 19:13
Hello Brit. How its is possible 2021EU6xxx received 2 NL but my number is 2021EU1xxx and did not receive 2NL yet? BTW I received ready to be scheduling for interview email in July 23. Can you please clarify this? Thanks
March 6, 2021 at 19:18
Unfortunately, they don’t send 2NLs in a numerical order. My number is 2021EU3** which is even smaller but I also haven’t received mine. Hopefully soon??
March 6, 2021 at 19:28
Thanks Ivonne for your reply. I hope too that they will send 2NL very soon.
March 6, 2021 at 20:46
Well there are several ways this is possible.
Your embassy may not be open.
You might be mistaken about what email you received in July.
Various ways…
March 6, 2021 at 21:27
Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all documentation required by the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.
This is excatly what i recived Brit in July 23. And my case number 2021 EU1xxx became current in Oct. Maybe ıt is Georgian embassy dıd not start interviews? Is here anyone who will be interviewed in Gerogian embassy and recieved 2 NL? Please comment.
March 6, 2021 at 21:36
I haven’t heard anyone say they have an interview in the Georgian embassy.
March 6, 2021 at 09:21
Hello Brit
1) If we want to show our bank statement should it be the bank account for the main applicant? (Or it’s ok for my wife (derivative)
2) is there a gov website where i can read more about submitting financial statements?
March 6, 2021 at 15:30
1. Doesn’t matter.
2. No.
March 6, 2021 at 10:59
Hi BritSimon, hi everyone,
Is there an other letter from KCC after sending in my documents and before 2NL confirming my documents are ok? I’ve sent in mine in JUL and again in DEC and never heard back (EU14***), besides the automatic response.
Another question: what do you think of my chances not getting denied based on the public charge rule not having a sponsor, but having around 15k in savings?
I am a young IT professional with 1-2 years of experience. Trying to get a job offer somehow, to better my chances, but I am not sure if I can manage.
Thanks for what you do for the community!

There is an email they send once they have processed your documents that says you are ready for scheduling. Wait a couple more weeks.
I can’t assess your chances of denial on public charge. It’s up to the CO.

Hello Mr. Simon,
My case number is 2021 EU 1300. (Yes, 1300…) I have NOT submitted the DS260 yet because I was scared that the 2020 story could repeat to us too and I would have declared immigrant intent. These days I saw here that KCC is sending 2NL and I’m thinking (finally) about sending my DS260. I have read your posts, comment, faq, vlogs, everything, I know you said May is kind of the deadline for DS submission, maybe April. I am trying to “calculate” the risk I am taking, giving the crazy year we are in, the muslim cases being processed, the backlogs at KCC and (for sure) at the embassies. Is it still wise to send the DS now, at the beginning of March 2021? I see people here with case no. under the visa bulletin and they say they haven’t heard from KCC for 3-4 months after doc submission… I’m very scared the same will happen to me.
From my math I see I have 4 months for DS and docs to be processed (March-June) ’cause in July I know is the last round of 2NLs being sent. Will KCC start working at my DS right away since my case no is current since Oct? EU is now at 12.000 as case numbers. Do I benefit a little from the fact that I’m a very low number compared to let’s say EU10-15.000? The embassy in my country (Romania, Bucharest) will start working on DV cases starting with April 15. Can this determine KCC to work faster on my case since my embassy is operating? My case is simple, 22 yo, single, travel history only to US, docs will be simple as well.
I want to go back to the US, that’s why this situation of not having enough time to be processed and scheduled terrifies me. Apologize for the long text, I’m just a young girl who’s dream is in danger.
Thank you a million times for you answer!

I understand why you didn’t already send it, but I thin k you should send it now. Your case number is already current, so your DS260 and documents could be processed fairly quickly. You have very low risk, but that risk will now start increasing (very slightly, don’t freak out) with further delay – so send it.

Good day simon
Wanted to ask about the situationof people who won the dv 2020, but did not get their visas, because the appointment got cancelled due to corona,.
My interview was to take place on the 16th april 2020 but got concelled. I heard that new president BIDEN signed for the travelling restrictions to be removed and that the DV winners can get the visas again.
I hav not heard neither from the US Embassy in my country nor from KCC itself.
I am from the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
And my case number is 2020AF.Xxxxxxx
Wanted to know if i can still keep hope or just give up.
Thank you.

In a normal year your case would have been useless after September 30. This year the Gomez case kept hopes alive – so now you have to wait for the outcome of the Gomez case (April).

Hey Brit, from your Point of view upto what CN is going to be schedule for Interview if the “Mission Critical ” doesn’t workout for all 55 thousand visas to be issue?

I have no idea.
