Hi Brit!
Can Executive order help to extend September 30 deadline for DV 2021? Its sort of much more optimistic question but …???

No.

Hi Brit. I am from Iran. My case has been current for three month now and my case number is AS35xx. Unfortunately my case is still in NVC and the embassy that I chose is Turkey ( Ankara) which only interviews Turkey residents and citizens.
I already have submitted my DS260 and submitted my documents. I have received the email that said ready to be scheduled for interview. I contacted the embassy of Armenia and Dubai to see If I can change my embassy, both of them said at this time I cannot change my interview location. I sent an email to KCC to see if there is any where else I can transfer my case to. It has been a week but no reply yet. Not sure what else I can do. Any recommendations?
Thanks

No, all you can do for now is wait.

Hi Brit,
Just a quick one, I am doing the ds 260 and my case number is high in Asia region. The question is about the Vaccinations in Sri Lanka they do not have a proper system of maintaining any records of patients nor they issue any documents to patients after vaccination. Can I answer as No and explain this in the ds 260. Thank you in advance for your reply
April 14, 2021 at 04:16
No is the best answer – but don’t worry about a complex explanation.
May 7, 2021 at 08:46
Hi! Afzal I’m a Dv lottery winner from Sri lanka. is there any way to contact you personally
April 20, 2021 at 17:55
Do you have any updates? I am in an almost identical situation…

Hi Brit! My case number for dv2021 is AS32*** as it is a high case Number. I wasn’t rushing to submit Application. The ongoing Number for April is 12000.
1) Is it too late if i Submit the application next month?
2) How long does it take for them to getback to me with an interview date?
Thanks in advance
April 9, 2021 at 13:43
1. Maybe.
2. There are many variables including uncertainty about your case number. So I can’y give normal timelines in this abnormal year.
April 9, 2021 at 13:28
Hi Brit,
Hope you are well. I and my family own two citizenships. We have submitted all the documents except the second nationality Passports of my wife, children and mine. I have noticed that you have advised someone here to send passports for both citizenships. Please advise how should I proceed:
1. Should I resend all documents including the passports of the second citizenship?
2. Should I just send separately the passports of the second citizenship?
Many thanks
Vic.

Dear Simon
Were they 2nls sent on the beginning of this month ? If yes there were for interviews in may?
Is it then true that on the 15 of this months more 2nl for may will come?
I’m saying that because I read that 2nl were sent in batches in beginning and 15tg of each month.
Thanks a lot
April 9, 2021 at 15:13
They have sent a few May 2NLs after the end of last month, but the next ones will be after the 15th and be for June interviews.
April 9, 2021 at 14:34
hey Brit.
Thank u for your endless support and help.
my husband is AF15** and has recieved ‘ready for interview’ email since December. The passport l entered in ds 260 had my maiden surname, but l have recently renewed my passport since the old one is expiring in september. now the new one has my husband’s surname (this is mandatory in our country after maariage cert issuance). i understand that you usually advise people to just carry old and new passport to interview. i just wanted your clarity if this can also apply to my case, considering the name change (l added my husbands name on the other names used section in the ds 260.)
considering that we are current plus low CN, and our embassy will start scheduling interviews this month, l would not want to unlock the ds260 unless it is absolutely necessary. please advise??
Thank you for all your assistance
April 9, 2021 at 15:14
No need to unlock. No problem.

April 9, 2021 at 15:26
Hi Brit.
Thanks for all your help! All the best for You!
This is my story:
I have two children.
-Daughter 13 years old – previous relationship.
-Son 2 years – current relationship.
My daughter’s mother will not allow her to stay with me in the USA so often, so that she can keep the green card, so there is no need to report it because She will lose it in time.
However, I would like to register my son from my current relationship.
And I have question to ask:
1. Can I register my son if I am not married to his mother.
2. Will the son’s registration (if possible) facilitate the family reunification process if we get married after granting me and my son a green card?
3. Is it a better solution, less complicated, to hurry up and get married and then unlock Ds260 before the possible interview by adding Max’s mom as wife?
4. Do I need Birth certificate for both children or only my son i would like to register?
April 10, 2021 at 16:31
We need to be clear about what you mean here.
When entering the lottery, you MUST list all your children (under 21, non US citizens) REGARDLESS of whether they will move to the USA or not. If you do not do that, you WILL be disqualified at interview. That counts for adopted children or step children too.
When filling out the DS260 (for yourself) you MUST list all your children, again regardless of whether they will move with you or not.
You create DS260s ONLY for each child that you want to emigrate with you as part of the DV process.
So – with those points in mind – your answers.
1. You must.
2. It’s just required.
3. Yes
4. Just the child you complete a DS260 for.
April 10, 2021 at 16:47
ds 260 sent(just today and hope it’s not too late)
all kids listed but for dpther I mark when they asked not moving with me for son I marked will move with me…. but not married with his mother, she got visa but only B1/B2 so iam confused, if its better to open ds260 for him, or go on my own and then try with family reunification, couse I’m afraid father with son moving to usa if all alright with mother can make us cofused and also they may wonder how I can handle it alone plus whether, for example, the child’s mother will not try to stay illegally on her B1 visa
April 10, 2021 at 17:36
Well I already said what you should do.
April 9, 2021 at 15:29
Hello mr Brit Simon,
When I edit my da 260 they ask my previous travel in the states. Since I am here now and I will be back in may? Do I need to add that one as well? Since is a present travel and not previous…
Also in my daughters form it ask if she have ever been in the us . She never been before but she is here now with me til may. How do I answer to this question? Should I put yes or not?
Thank u much
April 9, 2021 at 17:11
I am asking cause I already unlock my 260 to update my status from single to married since I got married last March in the states
April 10, 2021 at 16:32
Make the info correct at the time of submission. No need to unlock to add a new visit to the USA.
April 10, 2021 at 21:04
Thank you Brit. Since I submitted yesterday because I edited the fact that now I got married here in the USA should I have put that I am here now and for my daughter too in the previous travel or in my daughter form where it says if she ever been here? Or should I just say no? Thanks
April 10, 2021 at 22:14
If you submitted you cannot edit it again now.
April 10, 2021 at 22:20
Well I could always unlock the form again. That is why I would like to have your opinion …. if it is okey not to add this information or to unlock it again and add it again
April 10, 2021 at 22:28
I already answered.
April 9, 2021 at 17:02
Hi Brit. How will the queue be formed if the dv lottery visa bulletin is current? My case number is 36xxx, I completed ds260 on June, 16. Do I have any chance?
April 10, 2021 at 16:51
Wait and see. Your number is useless without a region.
April 9, 2021 at 17:09
Hey Brit
I’m Dv21 winner AF5xxx. I received this answers from KCC “Your case number is now current for interview processing… If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application” is that mean i have a chance to get my 2nl ?
April 10, 2021 at 16:52
Yes
April 9, 2021 at 17:12
Dear Brit ,
I have contaced KCC to ask if they had recived and are happy with my document but instead of answer the question the unloked my ds 260 and says thanks for your requestet (in my e mail i didnt at all mentionned unloking DS)
i submited again immidiatly but Can that cause problems for me or delay…. ?
i’m a mondaimus plantiff
April 10, 2021 at 16:53
No delay.
April 9, 2021 at 17:28
Hello Brit Saimon. remember on your today’s live i have asked you a question regarding about my passport issue, So here is story. I have applied my first entry with my national passport number, as it was instructed on first entry application form, i have not read the instruction of applying for a green card because i only applied for my first time and have got it, after i found out that i should have been put my travel passport information and its number. In our country we have two type of passports, one of them national and other one is travel, they both has English written name and surname on it, but have different numbers. I fill out DC260 and it was processed, after that kcc asked my about my scan docs, and i have sent them and also send the valid passport that i applied with in the first entry and also my travel passport as i wrote it on my dc260. They did not ask me any questions, they just sent me an email saying that they received my documents and they are currently processing. My case nm is EU15K. In conclusion: what do you think now about my situation? Can I get until interview? Or they will just delay my case? I do take this situation really seriously and worried about it. When i won a green card and found out that i have needed to put my travel passport information, i called kcc and they said that i alao can run my ds260 and i must to bring my passport to Embassy, so thats why i continued my case until the end.
I will be very much pleasure for your answer thank you. And if you want i can send my email to you to chat with you about this situation little bit more. Thank you
April 10, 2021 at 16:54
You will have to wait and see what happens – I cannot predict the outcome.
April 12, 2021 at 22:54
Hey Brit, Thank you for your reply, if someone in my situation that you will be aware of, please let me know or if you can go live and talk about it, im always watching your lives steams
April 9, 2021 at 17:45
Hi Simon, thank you so much for all of your support!
My case number is 2021EU22XXX and I am from Germany. I watched your videos and I tried to check my Visa Application status on CEAC as demonstrated by you. For some reason I receive an error message when I try to do that, even though it is no problem for me to log into my completed DS-260 form, so I really don’t see why there would be an issue.
Also, is it normal that the status of my DS-260 is ‘completed’, is that a sign that it has just been submitted or that it has even been accepted?
April 10, 2021 at 16:55
Completed means submitted and locked.
I don’t know why you are getting an error message.
April 9, 2021 at 18:57
Dear Brit,
When I register on DV-2021 because my passport is not with me i did not submit It.
Even when I submit DS-260 my passport is not with me so i did not submit it . but now it is me and I am living in Ethiopia as a refugee so is there any problem if i submit now my passport number on behalf of travel document .
April 10, 2021 at 16:56
I’m not sure whether you had a legitimate reason to not give passport details when you entered, nor am I sure what they will do in such cases.
April 9, 2021 at 19:26
Hi Brit.
Thanks for your help everytime.
My case no. is AS20XXX.My husband’s passport was due to expire in March 2022.And we submitted our DS-260 but have’nt submitted our documents.Given it’s a high case number we decided to renew the passport and also because the requirement in our country India for getting a PCC is having the passport with the current residential address.
So as per your suggestion we need not unlock DS-260 and just submit old documents but take the old and new passports for the interview.
But the problem in my scenario is the PCC is having the new passport no. since we have used the new passport for applying PCC.(We could not apply with the old passport one because it was having old address).
What do we do in the above case.
1.Unlock DS-260 update passport details. And submit documents having old and new passports along with the PCC.
2.Or just submit the old and new documents giving a written explanation that we renewed the passport without unlocking DS-260.Not sure if this even works.
3.Or just submit old documents along with PCC.(but this can cause issue with document mismatch with PCC).And take old and new passports to interview.
Need your guidance here.Thank you so much.
April 10, 2021 at 16:58
You will need to decide what you want to do in this scenario.
April 9, 2021 at 19:41
Hey Brits, my middle name on birth cert and passport reads Kangethe, while on the high school cert it reads Kang’ethe with an apostrophe. Can this cause a problem during the interview?
April 10, 2021 at 16:59
No
April 9, 2021 at 21:00
Hi, I am a DV 2021 seletee and i haven’t been asked to send documents but i am yet to. Is it advisable to send the police clearance certificate for those countries i have stayed for at least 6 months?
April 10, 2021 at 17:00
It is advisable to follow the instructions which would answer your question.
April 9, 2021 at 21:57
My fiancee has a greencard for two years. We are planning to get married within a few months. We’ve been together for over three years. Due to some personal reasons(such as family matters), we don’t live together right now and there is a possibility that we may not live after we are married. Do you think there will be a problem (such as accusing us with a fraud marriage) when we apply for F2A visa?
April 10, 2021 at 17:00
I only answer DV lottery questions.
April 9, 2021 at 23:32

2. If I need translate them…i need to send them already translated or its ok to send them not translated and take translate versions with me on interviev?
April 10, 2021 at 17:06
1. Use English and avoid the question!
2. You need to provide translations (if needed) with the documents.
April 10, 2021 at 06:19
Hi Brit!
Do you have any information regarding Kathmandu Embassy? Are they conducting any interviews in May ?
April 10, 2021 at 17:29
A handful of interviews are now scheduled in May.
April 10, 2021 at 10:41
Hello Brit,
Hope you have a great weekend. We have two citizenships, though two passports each family member. Should we send besides the two passports, the two birth certificates and marriage certificates of both countries? In order to obtain the second citizenship we had initially to obtain the other’s country duplicates for the birth and marriage certificates.
Thank you,
Vic.
April 10, 2021 at 17:31
You will need to decide. To me it is very odd to have multiple birth and marriage certificates.
April 10, 2021 at 11:52
Hi Britt,
Can we receive a 2NL while documents have not been submitted, since they did not request them?
April 10, 2021 at 17:32
No.

i have a question. Albania, Georgia and Germany are in the same region (Europe).
Over the last 12 years, the chance to win a greencard as a german was in the most years lower than in Albania and Georgia.
Why?

Well you are making the calculation inaccurate because you are not factoring in derivative rates. The winners column is actually winners plus derivatives. You have to take account of the derivative rates to determine how many actual winning cases each country has, based on its particular derivative rate. That is particularly pronounced in Georgia where the DV2021 derivative rate is 2.24 compared to 1.83 and 1.87 for Germany and Albania. Once you factor that in you would see the DV2021 selection rate was about 1.6%, and that matches for Albania and Georgia.
Once that is factored in, Germany is still lower though (at least in DV2021 – you should modify your process to check other years if you are interested), which is probably because a higher disqualification rate during the draw process. There could be many reasons for that – but it would not be the first time I have seen such things. Higher or lower DQ rates tend to come from factors such as cultural (not following the rules), or better background checking (open data sharing systems between friendlier or more advanced countries), or perhaps some countries where “good” agents tend to reduce the bad entry rates.
The point is the draw itself is random, and therefore the chance of *selection* in the draw (before the hole creating disqualifications) is the same across the region. The only artificial limit places on countries relates to “limited” countries which would otherwise get a huge number of selectees. That is why you see a number of countries with almost identical selectee numbers at some common high number point (6000 in DV2021).

hi brit,
there is a certified translator in my town and he can translate the documents, confirming that they match the original.
I read from the e-mail from KCC that it is enough, he quotes below: All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
But
Italian internal procedure for the translation of jurors is carrying such documents to the court and waiting for stamps from the court from the judge nowadays they can do this to me at the earliest at the end of May, which will disqualify me unfortunately if I will wait so till may.
is it enough if the documents are translated by the translator and signed declaration attached to the translations.
Many thanks for you help.
April 10, 2021 at 17:35
Follow US procedures for a US immigration process. Read the reciprocity page.
April 10, 2021 at 17:50
it seems to me that my English language level is too weak to capture this difference, so I asked for help … if not for the waiting time, I would ask the court for a translation to dispel my doubts, but now I can translate it faster with the help of translator … and I don’t know if it is enough: /

Hi simon,
Is the mandamus lawsuit for dv 21 filled already?
If yes, can we sign up again? When is the last day to sign up if it’s still open??
April 10, 2021 at 17:36
I don’t know.
April 11, 2021 at 13:31
The Immpact team (C. Kuck, G. Siskind et al) filed late Friday night, the case is called Goh v. Blinken. plaintiffs have received an email. (some people who have send an engagement letter might have gotten the email too)
April 10, 2021 at 17:43
Mr. Britsimon,
With four months remaining for interview,
1 Is there any way September 30th deadline can be extended to accommodate all those whose documents are processed, current and received the scheduling email?
2. Will all those who have received the scheduled email in October, November and embass open received the 2nl before the deadline?
April 10, 2021 at 17:54
1. Not without a Judges order.
2. I don’t have a crystal ball.
April 10, 2021 at 18:28
Hello BritSimon,
Will we see unconditionally 2NL for May !?
April 10, 2021 at 22:05
Do you mean current? I don’t know.
April 10, 2021 at 19:47
Hi Simon,
Comparatively,if someone in AF with 5000 in Algeria has been scheduled for interview and someone in same AF say Kenya with 4000 has not been scheduled for interview…
1.does it mean kcc hasn’t worked on the latter case or embassy the embassy isn’t ready to receive such visa category ?
Regards …
April 10, 2021 at 22:13
It could mean either of those things, plus it could mean one case was submitted/processed before or faster than the other or it could simply be luck when there are too many cases and not enough spaces. .

Dear Brit,
Here’s the latest situation as stated in the website of US Embassy in Turkey:
“For Turkish nationals and individuals with Turkish residency, the U.S. Embassy is providing the following services by appointment only: immigrant visas for immediate relatives and fiancés of American Citizens, adoption cases, family-based immigrant visas for relatives of American Citizens and legal permanent residents, returning resident visas (SB-1), asylee following-to-join and refugees following-to-join cases, delivery of USCIS travel documents received at post, I-131A boarding foils for legal permanent residents, certain petitions that can be accepted at post (I-130/I-360/I-600), parole cases, and for certain Special Immigrant Visas (SI and SQ). We are not providing the following services: employment-based visas, Diversity Visas processing, DNA testing, fingerprint services for USCIS applications, or DS-117 (returning resident) applications.”
So, they can issue all the stated immigrant visas but DV and employment based ones. Categorically limiting the visas should not be related to covid but solely to decrease the workload, right?
What do you think in your opinion is the rationale behind this limitation? Could this be argued behind the court in DV21 case?
Thanks,
April 11, 2021 at 03:12
They are free to set the ways they work, but that can obviously be challenged in a court.

Hi Brit.
I am a cameroonian and will be interviewed in Germany. The US embassy in Cameroon doesn’t require to show finances but the one in Germany does.
My question is:
Will my interview be with the Cameroon norms or German norm?
Thank you very much for help
April 11, 2021 at 03:14
German.
April 19, 2021 at 15:01
Thank you very much Brit for your reply.
I will like to know:
1, Is the public charge rule actually still in place?
2, I have $10k I my account. Do you think it is enough?
3, Do you think I can get a public charge refusal with this amount?
I am grateful to your reply sir
April 20, 2021 at 19:58
1. Some aspects of public charge have always been in place and still are. It is only the changes that Trump tried to implement that have been blocked.
2. Maybe – and I-134 is safer.
3. Repeat…

Thank you very much Brit

Hi dear Simon
I used to think that the I-134 form is the only form that the sponsor fills, until a friend of mind told me recently that there’re three more forms that are filled by the sponsor along with the I-134. Which are the following:
1-1040
2- w-2
3- lrs transcript
My questions are :
A- is my friend right ?
B- are the forms filled online or printed and then filled with a pen ?
Thank you so much in advance for your respond
April 11, 2021 at 15:36
Those are “supporting documents”. The sponsor doesn’t fill them in, he/she simply provides them.
April 11, 2021 at 11:19
Hello Simon,
I wanted to make sure whether omitting children above 21 in the initial entry is acceptable. If it is, would adding them be ok as well?
April 11, 2021 at 15:37
Yes and Yes
April 11, 2021 at 14:20
I heard rumors that it is possible that many of dv2021 winners will receive the email of interview without the need for ready email as happened in 2018 and 2019
Is that true
April 11, 2021 at 15:37
I only believe reality, not rumors. So – wait and see.
April 11, 2021 at 14:36
Hi Brit! Should I submit affadavit I-134 to KCC with the rest of the documents?
April 11, 2021 at 15:37
No
April 11, 2021 at 15:28
Hi BritSimon
With KCC sending out 2NLs for 2 months now, do you see the leadtime between 2NL and interview back to the normal approx. 6 weeks? Do you think KCC will shorten this leadtime by scheduling more interviews to clear the backlogs, taking into consideration that most of the bans or obstacles of not issuing visas are now pretty much cleared?
April 11, 2021 at 16:25
Hi Simon, Can I get your opinion on case OC27xx? I gather you’re basically telling all to send the documents to KCC? All things equal would my case have a better chance through AOS or consulate? Thanks
April 11, 2021 at 19:13
I’m not predicting VB movement this year. As for AOS versus CP – well AOS has some advantage this year.
April 11, 2021 at 20:02
Ok, thanks

April 11, 2021 at 21:20
Hello
Really wondering if an overcompressed photo (,more than 20:1 compression ratio) can be grounds for disqualification
April 14, 2021 at 04:13
Compression should not be an issue.
April 11, 2021 at 23:28
thanks britt for what you do,
What can we do to force embassies to accept cases as they are open for other IV cases. but they are not accepting dv2021.
the winners of South America are concerned. what can we do. the demands are very expensive for us. do you think there may be a class action for all non-plaintiffs.
we are ready for the interview. help us please. Bogota is giving an appointment for other immigrant visas
April 14, 2021 at 04:17
Lawsuits are one option, but if you can’t afford that you will just have to hope the situation improves.
April 12, 2021 at 06:33
Hi Brit, I hope you’re doing well. Sir I took the statement below from Curtis Morrison Twitter, where he mentioned that he might gonna fill a new lawsuit( probably mandamus type action), so sir what’s your genuine advice for AF44K CN. Will I stand better chance taking part for the new lawsuits going to be filled soon, if it does happen? Further to that, I contacted Charles Kuck also yesterday, and he mentioned that he might gonna fill a new lawsuit telling me that I should stay tuned for any further developments. So sir what’s ur take on these two issues, and which one will you recommend me to put my trust on it?
“Depending on the mid-April outcome of motions pending related to DV2021 in the Jacob v Biden lawsuit, attorneys Curtis Morrison and Rafael Urena, with The Law Firm of Rafael Urena, may file new litigation in May 2021 on behalf of individual DV2021 selectees who are not participants in similar litigation. We have not yet determined the attorney fees for this case, only that the initial fee to participate will be no more than $500 US per DV2021 selectee family.
If you are a DV2021 selectee interested in participating in our next lawsuit, please give us some information below and we will contact you with an update around April 20, 2021″—From Curtis Morrison Twitter!
April 14, 2021 at 04:19
Lawsuits will probably help some cases. Either lawsuit will do – you have to choose – I can’t do that for you.
April 14, 2021 at 16:51
Thanks sir.
April 12, 2021 at 07:01
Dear Simon. We have exactly the same situation like Ahmed in 2016, that my police certificate from my birth country doesnt include my new (married) last name, but the police certificate from my current country does contain correct married last name (like in the passport).
https://britsimonsays.com/2nls-sent-august-2016-interviews/comment-page-4/#comment-268666
We will get new police certificate document in a few weeks with fixed last name.
1) Do you recommend that we send this new document to KCC (and risk prolonging processing time) or should we just have it as a backup for interview? We are SA18xx but doing interview in EU-non shengen. Still waiting for confirmation that documents are processed from KCC.
Thank you very much for everything!
Brenda

Dear Brit,
I am a DV2021 winner from Turkey. Our consulate is not working. They haven’t set any interviews. And they made an announcement saying that “We are not providing Diversity Visa Processing.”
Why are they doing this even though there is no ban or restrictions?
Is it possible that are we going to miss DV2021 visas because of Consulate of Ankara?
Thank you for your great work.
April 12, 2021 at 11:39
I need to schedule my appointment in Turkey too. I am from Iran. Do u know if we can join a lawsuit?!
Thanks
April 14, 2021 at 04:22
Each consulate has the right to set their opening level based on the conditions in the country. It’s frustrating, but there is not much to be done outside of the lawsuits.
