Hi fellow Ghanaians … after going through the dv2020 Ghana selectees thread in the immigration forum for DV, it’s quite obvious that the USEmbassy in Accra don’t care about DV. After the judge’s order in September 2020, only one person was scheduled for an interview and that person was a Named Plaintiff. They didn’t schedule anyone again even though we all know the Covid situation in Ghana wasn’t that bad. They didn’t show any good faith.
In view of this I think we must be proactive before things become too late for us DV2021 selectees from Ghana, we need to start tagging our media houses and influential people in Twitter and Facebook posts to create awareness.
All our neighboring countries have scheduled dv2021 interviews; Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Togo, Nigeria and Benin but clearly the USEmbassy in Ghana is not going to do so without some pressure, this is a lifetime opportunity and we should do all we can (legally) to see it fulfilled.

Hi Brit. DV2021 winners here. We already had our interview and got our visas in the mail two days ago. Now my husband and I are thinking to travel separately. He is DV1 and I am DV2. I would travel after a month. Do you think that is possible, since we had the interview and went through the consular processing together? Thanks
April 18, 2021 at 18:50
No problem. That is covered in the FAQ.
April 15, 2021 at 15:27
BritSimon,
when (DS260) required documents are collected, scanned, and ready to be attached / submitted via e-mail to [email protected], is there some recommended e-mail text a person sholud send too?
Or just to use case number as the subject of the email, attach documents, and that is it?
April 15, 2021 at 15:45
Hi Simon. I won the DV-2021 lottery and filled the DS-260 for my wife and I last year but decided not to pursue it any further because I came to realisation that I did not qualify in the first place and did not know that at the time of applying and filling out the DS-260. Hence I did not submit any documents.
Now I’ve landed a job in the U.S as a doctor on J-1 Visa. in the J-1 application they’ve asked me if Ive ever applied for a permanent residence/green card before. Am I supposed to say yes? if so, then what explanation am I supposed to provide in the details.
kindly help me out.i would be extremely grateful. thank you.
April 18, 2021 at 19:28
Yes you applied for immigration (that was the DS260). The explanation is the truth.
April 18, 2021 at 23:39
Will it affect my chances to acquire J-1?
April 20, 2021 at 19:32
It is a factor they will take into account, along with others.
April 15, 2021 at 16:59
Hello; is it ok to email supporting documents with the subject “2021AF00012xxx” or leaving the three zeros as “2021AF12xxx”
any differences?
April 18, 2021 at 19:30
Doesn’t matter.
April 20, 2021 at 11:43
as a rule of thumb KCC uses the case numbers with the leading zeros where as NVC recognizes case numbers without the zeros.
April 15, 2021 at 19:06
Hello Britsimon!
You have mentioned before that there is a woman who is very experienced in the adjustment of status. Can you please give me her contact details?
Best regards
Vicor

April 15, 2021 at 19:07
So when my police certificates expire and I get new ones i have to email them to kcc to be uploaded ?
Is that correct?
April 18, 2021 at 19:31
No – present new ones at the interview if they are older than 12 months.
April 20, 2021 at 03:00
Thank you for your reply,
I am asking because of what the US Embassy Abu Dhabi is saying about new docs:
US Embassy Abu Dhabi – Immigrant Visa Unit
For all applicants who have uploaded documents onto the CEAC website:
Many interviews have ended with delayed visa issuance due to newer documents not being uploaded online. Here are common examples of this:
1) newer passports not being uploaded online
2) new police certificates being presented at the interview but not being uploaded online (police certificates must be less than 1 year old if you are residing in the country of the police certificate) (note that older police certificates are okay if you haven’t returned to that country after issuance)

Already answered.
April 15, 2021 at 20:29
Hi Brit.
Thanks for your work. You are helping thousands of people a lot.
My case number in DV2021 is about 9 thousand. Initially I planned an interview in Russia (i have russian citizenship). Documents have been requested, but scans have not been verified.
I also have Lithuanian citizenship. In this case, is it possible to try to change the place of the interview to Lithuania? When is it better to do it before checking scans or after?
Please describe the steps. Should I make a request to change the DS260 form and change interview place in it, or should I contact KCC via mail and explain the situation to them?
April 18, 2021 at 19:33
That is covered in the FAQ.
April 15, 2021 at 23:30
Simon, i asked a question before if you remember about changing the country of interview from Abu Dhabi to Canada since i moved. Per your advise i sent out an email to KCC. response came today that the DS260 is locked as i am ready for an interview and they cannot make changes and if i would like to make changes i can do it during the interview by presenting the necessary documents.. sarcastically, shall i travel to Abu Dhabi and do the interview and tell them during the interview that i cannot travel to abu dhabi and i would like my interview to take place in Canada! let me know your opinion please. thanks
April 16, 2021 at 00:31
Canada is not doing interviews. Montreal embassy hasn’t scheduled a single interview. If I were you, I would pay for the ticket and go to AD. Your chances are higher. I wish I could do the same.
April 18, 2021 at 19:35
Try again. Show proof that you moved and ask them politely but firmly to allow the change in the DS260.
April 18, 2021 at 21:02
Thanks Simon I sent an email to Abu Dhabi US embassy, they replied fairly quickly and said they don’t mind just get Montreal to say ok. I forwarded the same email to Montreal and attached proof that I no longer reside in UAE.
Yeah for DV2021 as an answer I have a big family so considering traveling back to the Abu Dhabi is a huge investment maybe over USD 15k considering accommodation notwithstanding COVID restrictions in both countries which will have us stay in quarantine 14 days upon return to Canada and 10 days in a hotel quarantine in Abu Dhabi which will double my initial estimate! I hope that restrictions are eased up then and restrictions are lifted… by the way Abu Dhabi stopped interviews as well not only Montreal.
April 19, 2021 at 08:44
Dear Yacoub, then what happened? did Montreal embassy accept transferring ?
April 16, 2021 at 00:33
Hi Brit – You are so quiet these days. Are you disappointed, hopeful or what are your thoughts?
April 18, 2021 at 19:35
I’m not quiet, just busy.
About DV2021 – yes I am worried.
April 16, 2021 at 08:38
Isn’t May Visa Bulletin being delayed ?? Its already 16th of the month ! ??
April 16, 2021 at 14:21
i feel the same.
its such a different year honestly
April 18, 2021 at 19:36
For the last year it has been later than this. Patience.
April 16, 2021 at 08:53
Hello Brit,
My wife is DV2021 lottery winner, Case no 26xx
My wife, child and me have already filled up DS 260 in last July 2020.
The case is at NVC? what does that mean?
Should email KCC for further action to send 2nl.
Do we need to send Covid -19 vaccination certificate to KCC?
Or should we contact US embassy about our situation to coordinate with KCC.
If we need to travel, you have to be vaccinated of Covid-19.
Also my wife and me already have vaccinated for Covid -19 but our little daughter yet has to be vaccinated. In other countries children are not being vaccinated for Covid-19 yet.
Can you answer it in your upcoming live chat.
Thank you in advance
April 18, 2021 at 19:37
Sounds like you are not paying enough attention. You don’t give the region, so your number is meaningless.
Have you sent the documents? If not, send them.
April 16, 2021 at 08:55
hi Britsimon how r u ? i filled ds-260 form before 3 days. in my dv entry i fill the educational background with university degree now in ds-260 i fill the education background with advanced degree(master) ..i have BSC degree and now i am 2nd year Msc(master) student. i only left paper work to get msc certificate after 1 year… either any problem to my case science my dv entry and ds-form i fill is different ?
if any problem what should i do?
thanks Britsimon
April 18, 2021 at 19:38
No problem.
April 19, 2021 at 07:01
but 1 year left to get the master certificate and the interview will be until September are they asking me at interview time a master certificate b/s i fill in the ds 260 with the advanced degree(master)?
April 20, 2021 at 19:39
I can’t see what problem you think you have…
April 16, 2021 at 09:51
Dear Simon
This is a follow up to my previous comment
So I was given a J1 visa (2 year home type) as I will be starting a job soon in the United States but at the same time I’m still waiting for my interview for green card ( my case number is 12xxx and this month Asia will be 13xxx)nwhich means it’s getting soon.
I’m really afraid that if I accept the J1 visa I will lose my chance to obtain the green card
My questions are:
Will accepting a J1 visa and travelling to the United States cancel my green card ?
Can I switch from J1 to green card if I get accepted while being in USA?
Can I change my interview location to the USA if I feel I won’t be able to interview on time
Always grateful to you,
April 18, 2021 at 19:39
Yes your J1 home residency will interfere with the DV GC. Don’t create that problem.
April 16, 2021 at 10:57
When is the vasa status updated.. Is it after every visa bulletin.. Thanks for great work.
April 18, 2021 at 19:41
Be more clear.
April 16, 2021 at 12:16
Part of my first name (two names are in the first name slot) on my passport is abbreviated to Mhd. This is the name I have used in my entry. However, my first name is written in full as Mohammed in the residence card of my country of residence which is also my country of chargeability. My passport is from a different country. Will this create issues when I submit my documents to KCC?
April 18, 2021 at 19:42
You must make sure your DS260 has your correct legal name, and if you have used some other version of the name, list that in the DS260 too. If you do that, no problem.
April 16, 2021 at 12:17
Hello!
I have a couple of questions regarding the i-134, if that’s okay?
1) How far out can the i-134 be signed? If the information will only change minimally (ie. balance of bank account might change by $1000 or two), does it matter if the i-134 is five or six months since signing, or does it need to be more recent than that?
2) If you are not planning to rely on the balance of stocks/bonds etc that the sponsor owns to prove wealth, can you not include it on the form? My sponsor is not able to get a list of all denominations etc to prove his stocks, and he has an income of over $150K so we won’t be relying on his balance in stocks etc to show he can support me. Is this an issue?
Thank you very much!
April 18, 2021 at 19:43
1. The I-134 should be provided shortly before the interview with more recent supporting documents.
2. The income is what is important.
April 19, 2021 at 19:15
Hello Brit, hope you are safe with your collegues,I am DV,2021AF7××× ,I recieved a mail saying my case is current on the 16th of March ,when do you think I can be scheduled for an interview?
thanks.
April 20, 2021 at 20:03
I cannot predict anything.
April 16, 2021 at 13:10
Hi Simon,
hope you are doing well!
Case number 2021EU3xxx, the embassy still says we are affected by the Schengen ban.
I have a question about the medical exam.
The embassy page states:
“As soon as you receive your appointment date, you must schedule a medical exam”.
They also say that some result can take up to 10 business days to get.
In a normal year this would be fine as 2NLs arrive one month in advance, but this isn’t a normal year.
1: What would happen if I get the 2NL saying I’m scheduled for the next week? Even if I can get an appointment at the doctor, I won’t have the results. Can I go to the inteview without / with partially complete medical?
2: If i decide to get the medical now without the 2NL, I could end up having just a month left from the 6 months of the validation if they’d schedule me for September. In this case can I “renew” the medical if I only can move in November? I have 2 months note with my current employee.
Thanks in advance!
April 18, 2021 at 19:45
You are NOT affected by the Schengen ban.
1. You won’t be scheduled that quickly!
2. Arrange the medical when you get the 2NL.
Stop imagining problems. There are actual problems to focus on.
April 19, 2021 at 09:34
Thanks for the reply.
I asked about the timeline-medical match, because I recall reading something here (or maybe a comment while you were live on youtube) around the end of Feb. when one of the PP was lifted that a person had the interview scheduled for the next week.
While I have read the announcment of April 8th, a couple of days later I asked the Embassy – even forvarded the link – they checkend and then stated on the 14th that they still think the ban is still in place for DV winners. I updated that to the Goh lawyers as we are part of it.
Regards
April 16, 2021 at 14:21
KCC is will send 2nds today or tomorrow? You think? I hold long time my interview, because my case number was current 11/2020 and immigration ban do very bad for all dv lottery holders situation. I am dv 2021 winer. All documents are already sended in KCC and completed.
April 18, 2021 at 19:50
I expect more 2NLs will be sent after the VB – this week.
April 16, 2021 at 14:43
Hi there, im a Venezuelan living in Argentina. im divorced, After the ds-260 they asked for the Marriage Certificate and the Marriage Termination Documentation. I do have the Marriage Termination Documentation, but cant get a hold on the Marriage Certificate, with the current situacion in Venezuela everything is more dificult, and my ex wife, is abroad too. The question is, having the Marriage Termination is enough to demonstrate both? What can i do?
April 16, 2021 at 16:13
greeting simon! I made a plan to go to Qatar first and ask kcc to transfer my case to Qatar. 1) If I get visit visa or working visa for Qatar and ask KCC to transfer my case… Does it work? 2) May consulate reject my visa due to case transfer? I had inquired about this with KCC and I received such mail… …. Thank you for your inquiry.
For security purposes, KCC cannot reveal any information regarding your case if you cannot provide all the required information. Please provide the Principal Applicant’s information listed below.
Once the DS-260 for the Principal Applicant has been submitted, the Interview Location can only be updated by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). Please send your request to [email protected]. You will need to include information that explains why you need the interview location changed. Unless they are in the U.S. and adjusting status, all applicants on the case will be scheduled for interview with the Principal Applicant. You should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly to arrange separate interviews, if needed.
If you need to change your interview location because your residency has changed, you will need to include the new address in your email along with your case number, Principal Applicant’s name, and complete date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY). You will also need to request that KCC unlock your DS-260, so that you can update your application with your new address. (Please note that Post Office Boxes and mailing addresses in care of another person do not justify a change of interview location.)
If your interview has already been scheduled, you must contact the embassy at which you have been scheduled to determine if your case can be transferred to a different location.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
For additional information, please refer to the following websites:
April 18, 2021 at 19:52
They explained everything in their reply.
April 16, 2021 at 17:23
Hi. My case number is 2021EU36xxx. I sent ds260 in June. I also sent scan documents to kcc without requesting. It has’t been checked yet. Will I have chance if visa bulletin becomes current for Europe?
April 18, 2021 at 19:53
Maybe. There are no guarantees this year.
April 16, 2021 at 17:25
Do Embassies have anything to do with the visa bulletin release date ? Or its all upto KCC ?
April 18, 2021 at 19:53
Neither. It’s DoS. The VB covers all visa types.
April 16, 2021 at 18:59
Hi Simon,
Hoping for some clarity after some mad googling.
For documents I know the original birth certificate is needed. I am trying to confirm exactly what this means – from the travel.gov site.
“Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records”
Is this saying I need an Apostille stamp from my home country (i dont live there) on my birth certificate?
Hoping its not the case but dont want to get it wrong.
Thanks in advance.
Lis
April 18, 2021 at 19:55
No. It just means it has to be an official document, the original or a replacement copy issued by the relevant authority.
April 16, 2021 at 22:18
Hello Brit
I submitted my documents in late November until now i have not received documents confirmation
But i have not re-send my documents
Would it be a problem if I don’t resend them since i need to change police certificate and passport ?
April 18, 2021 at 19:56
Without documents you won’t be scheduled.
April 19, 2021 at 10:24
Dear brit
I already submitted my documents upon kcc request since late November
But my question is that if i choose not to resend the documents again(because i need to get new police certificates and new passport) would it be harmful for my case or sending them only once is enough?
April 20, 2021 at 19:46
Once is enough if they are correct.
April 16, 2021 at 23:42
Hello , it is more than 7 weeks since i forwarded my documents to KCC and i have not heard from them . Please what should i do?
April 18, 2021 at 19:57
Case number?
April 20, 2021 at 13:36
AF 29k
April 17, 2021 at 10:21
Dear Simon
Hi
I wanted to know, according to the conditions of coronavirus ,If our case number is in Bolton Visa current, it means that one hundred percent will be invited for an interview.
Thanks
Masoud
April 17, 2021 at 19:08
no.
April 18, 2021 at 19:57
No – there are certainly no guarantees.
April 19, 2021 at 05:09
Dear Simon
Hi
Please explain, so what does it mean when our case number is current ?
If an email is sent to us at the embassy after the case number is current, will there be another problem to go for our interview due to the Corona virus?
Thanks
Masoud
April 20, 2021 at 19:37
It means your number is “qualified” to get an interview. It does not guarantee that interview though. Your DS260 and documents must have been processed, and even then, it depends on whether the embassy are interviewing.
April 17, 2021 at 11:55
Dear Mr. brit
I am a dv lottery 2021 winner. case number: AS25xxx
I have submitted my ds-260 in July and I edited two of my accompanies in November.
I did not receive email requesting documents yet
I emailed them about sending the documents but they said I have to wait until they ask for it
is this normal to happen or not.
I don’t want to send the documents as they stated that this is going to delay processing of my documents more than waiting for it.
what should I do?
i feel that they are taking to long
April 18, 2021 at 19:58
If you want any chance at all, Send your documents.
April 17, 2021 at 16:58
First of all, thank you for your help and support to all of us seeking a green card through diversity lottery. My question is about police certificates. Apart from my brith country (Spain), I have lived for more than 12 months in the US under a L1A visa.
How do I get a police certificate from the US? Or maybe it isn’t necessary since they already gather this data while processing the DS-260?
April 18, 2021 at 19:59
Not necessary (as described in the official instructions).
April 17, 2021 at 19:28
Hello Brit, hope you are doing great.
I have two questions (one is silly I guess):
1. “Work Experience: If you are qualifying with work experience, you must have two years of experience in the last five years, in an occupation…” when does the 5 year rule start to count:
the time you apply in the lottery,
the time you fill DS 260,
or the time of the interview?
2. And now the silly one. I usually keep a beard (about half an inch and shaped), is it unethical to keep it in interview and can it effect my visa issuance negatively?
Thank you, best regards.
April 18, 2021 at 20:00
1. At interview.
2. Too silly.
April 17, 2021 at 20:19
We had our interview this week in Bern and everything went well. Extremely happy, thanks again for all your work!
April 18, 2021 at 20:01
Happy to read some good news.
April 17, 2021 at 22:53
Dear Brit, this is me again. I hope you are enjoying your spring.
My nerves are giving out. So it has been the 33rd day I entered the country (DV2020), but I they didn’t send my social security card. I followed the advice of the social security administration in Lawrence, MA to fill out the SS-5 Application to get my Social Security card. I also attached my passport copy and my visa and entry into the country copy. Now I have an answer from the Social Security Administration that:
“We cannot issue you a SS card because you have not given us the documents we need to show U.S. citizenship or lawful alien status. Letter sent must provide work permit or permanent resident card in order to process this application.”
This is getting crazy… Please give me some advice dear Brit, what should I do? It seems they don’t even know about this DV lottery program. I need my SS card to work and earn money, I can’t stay like this forever…. Does this mean they are going to postpone the issuance of my green card as well? Whom should I contact to get my SS card? Maybe the homeland security?
April 18, 2021 at 20:03
Your visa in your passport is your temporary I-551.

April 18, 2021 at 01:01
Hi BritSimon,
Will all DV21 winners get the opportunity to be scheduled for an interview???
Thanks for the good job in keeping us updated.
April 18, 2021 at 20:03
No.
April 18, 2021 at 11:43
Dear Brit.İ’am winner of DV2021.But I was convicted of gold smuggling 10 years ago and was imprisoned for 6 months. Could this result in a visa refusal? What are my chances of getting a visa?
April 18, 2021 at 20:04
I don’t know if that would be considered a crime of moral turpitude. I suspect yes, and if it is – that could cause a problem. Ultimately it is up to the CO to decide.
April 18, 2021 at 17:04
Hello BritSimon
1) When will 2NL for June interviews be sent out?
2) Did KCC only send out only one batch of 2NL for May interviews?
3) Will KCC send a second batch of 2NL for June interviews as in normal times?
April 18, 2021 at 20:06
1. Later this month.
2. No, they sent 2NLs on multiple occasions.
3. These are not normal times, so wait and see.
April 18, 2021 at 20:38
Hi Simon,
1).As I am a student I don’t really have any financial assets, however my aunt has filed an i-134,do you think this will be enough for my interview?
2).Could my parents assets be considered? Since they will help pay for my housing, college, food, etc.
April 18, 2021 at 20:51
1. I don’t know your aunt – so how can I answer? That is answered in the FAQ.
2. Again, read the FAQ.
April 18, 2021 at 23:47
1). Well, she is well above the poverty line, so I guess I could re-phrase my question: Is an i-134 without any of your own assets enough to be cleared of public charge denial?
2). They aren’t in the USA though, they are from the same country I am so, could someone else’s assets be considered? Since I’m already an adult legally but my mom will pay for my college tuition, or at least help
April 20, 2021 at 19:32
1. Yes (clear if you read the FAQ).
2. The sponsor must be in the USA.
April 18, 2021 at 20:43
Hello Brit,
I am winner of dv2021 and I have listed my wife and two kids, we have finished DS for everyone, submited documents, and everythings that was needed. On Interview appointment theyre listed all as beneficiaries, but when I login to check status on ceac it says that we are ready and at the bottom of window that shows it says: “Your search has returned multiple results. Please select the Case Number to display the status, and below that is listed only 3 rows, I suppose there should be 4 because there is 4 of us, Im scared of that because one daughter will age out in May 12th. Is there any problem?
April 18, 2021 at 20:52
That is normal. Make sure you print out the CSPA information for the interview.
April 19, 2021 at 09:39
Does it gonna help because the interview is scheduled for May 20th, 8. days after age-out, will it still affect?
April 20, 2021 at 19:45
If you read my article you would know the answer.
April 18, 2021 at 23:27
Hello Brit,
Still no news from KCC.
I watched a video in which you discussed people contacting their embassy in the past to ask KCC about their documents. You seemed to be a bit hesitant about it.
My number is EU14xxx and will be current in May. I have sent countless of emails to KCC and called them. No result. Should I call my embassy (which is not located in my birth country…) and ask them if they can reach out to KCC? Or would I be making things worse?
Thanks.
April 19, 2021 at 18:48
Hi Carol,
I’m EU14k as well, it looks like KCC just started to send a couple 2NLs to CN 10k-12k recently.
I’m hoping they will get their act together and start processing documents at a decent speed and we can get scheduled sometimes in may.
Besides the xarthisius website this is an informative page also with daily updates:
https://savediversityvisa.org/daily-visa-statistics/
Good luck!

Hi Feher, that’s wonderful news! Thank you for letting me know! I hope we get scheduled soon. Best of luck to you too, I’m sure we’ll be blessed with a green card.
April 20, 2021 at 19:31
It wouldn’t make things worse, it’s just not likely to be the solution. My hesitancy was based on it not solving the problem in the majority of cases.

Hi Brit,
I heard that DV2020 final decision is going to be extended late May or June.
Is it true?
Thanks
April 20, 2021 at 19:37
That is what Curtis said. There is no deadline.

HI Britt,
How are you?
I just wanted to know regarding the Financial Sponsorship in the DV process. Can you please tell me if it is mandatory and also please tell me the form needed to be filled by my sponsor? Alternately since I work at the moment, can I show my balance document, if yes how much do I need to show?
Thank you

Read the FAQ about the I-134.

Hello BritSimon,
I would like to know this:
If one joins any of the litigations as a plaintiff before the embassy starts scheduling interviews, will that person be interviewed if current and ready for scheduling or will have to wait for court’s final judgement in the case before being interviewed?
April 20, 2021 at 19:38
The litigations are aimed at getting some action. So – that may help a case to get some attention even before the Judge rules.

Hi brit, hope you are good, I have a question please.
I’m a Dv2021 Af60k but presently in an eu country in irregular situation.
I want to know if when we go to a US embassy for interview in eu country they will require my residency permit for that country, because mine expired this Jan2021 and I’m unable to renew it.
Or is it a good idea to contact the kcc to schedule my interview in my country of origin in af so I can go and have my interview there when time comes?
How long can the change if embassy take, is it a good idea to do it at this point?
Thank you for your reply!
April 20, 2021 at 19:40
It depends on the CO whether they ask for papers or not.
If you can get an interview anywhere you will be lucky. That is what you should focus on.

Hello Simon,
By checking the latest data on Xarthisius site i see a higher than normal % of refused Visa. Did it catch your attention or is it too soon to tell as the number are really low to be honest.
April 20, 2021 at 19:45
The sample size is too small.

Hello Brit,
My wife is DV2021 lottery winner, Case no EU14XXX we reside in Africa.
My wife, childeren and I have already filled up DS 260 in last June 2020. When I contacted the consulate (Nigeria/Lagos) recently, they told me that our case is at NVC.
Then I contacted KCC, they emailed me that our case is is at the consulate. So, KCC SAYS THE CASE IS AT THE CONSULATE; CEAC.GOV or consulate SAYS IT IS AT NVC. And now I am not able to contact NVC.
The case is at NVC? what does that mean? Was that what sppoused to be?
And in order to log into CEAC.state.gov I need an invoice ID which I have never had it!
Based on the information on travel.state.gov, only KCC and the US Embassy or Consulates are involved in DV services.
April 20, 2021 at 19:56
If the CEAC status check ( https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx ) shows at NVC – that is a standard normal status that EVERY case starts at – for DV cases it means NOTHING.
What is important is getting your DS260 and documents approved – have you done that?
April 19, 2021 at 14:43
Hi Simon !
My status on USCIS changed to “Card is being produced”, in general, how long it ill take to be delivered ?
Thank You!

It varies. Patience.

Hi Brit,
After sending support documents to KCCDV Documents, I sent the following inquiry to KCC:
“Subject: 2021AF00024XXX
Dear KCC,
I submitted supporting documents on Mar 18, 2021 and my case number is current for May 2021. I haven’t received a confirmation email or additional requests. I would appreciate it if you let me know the documents are Satisfactory.
With regards,
Rahel K.”
After several days, I received the following response from KCC:
“Thank you for your inquiry.
The inquiry you are making is regarding a case number and/or program year that is closed. KCC cannot provide any further information regarding this matter.
September was the final month of the DV-2020 program year, which means that KCC will not be scheduling any further interviews for DV-2020. Diversity Visa numbers have already been allocated to accommodate those applicants who have already submitted applications and were scheduled for their DV appointments in September. No further allocations or appointments will be made. …..”
Can you please tell what this means?
Thanks
April 20, 2021 at 07:14
when writing to kcc, include your full name, date of birth, and case number in the opening line of your email. it seems like they confused you with a dv2020 winner. i wouldn’t panic over this reply. good luck
April 20, 2021 at 08:28
Thanks Sattar
April 20, 2021 at 19:59
It means they or you is confused.
They think your case is DV2020 – try again.

Hello Brit,
1. I have heard you saying that translations don’t have to be done professionally, so my friend will be doing the translations for me. Do I have to attach their identity card or any other proof of identity to the translated document(s)?
2. Do they really require two copies of all documents (apart from the passport) for the interview? I’ve read this somewhere in the travel.state.gov website but can’t recall where exactly.
3. I am born in KSA but their embassy refused to issue a replacement birth certificate (I don’t have the original), so I got my parents to swear an affidavit and was issued a birth certificate from my country. The problem (?) is that it only shows I was born in KSA (but does not mention the city). Is this really a problem?
Thanks for investing your precious time on helping us strangers!
April 20, 2021 at 20:01
1. No
2. Follow the instructions.
3. It could be a problem, yes. KSA are known to be difficult though, so the CO may be sympathetic – I don’t know for sure.

Hi Brit,
Thank you for keeping all of us updated with the news around DV lottery. Much appreciated!
I have a quick question regarding my dv2021 application. My case number is in ASIA low ~2000 and I have already sent all the documents for myself and my wife. In Aug 2020, I got an email saying all my documents are submitted and good to go and my interview will be scheduled when my case becomes current (which happened in January 2021). My embassy of choice for the interview is Ankara (I am a citizen of Iran and we have to go to a different country for embassy), however, it seems like the embassy is not scheduling DV cases due to covid for non-residents of Turkey. Given that KCC phone numbers is no longer assisting callers, do you suggest I wait and see what happens to the embassy in Ankara in the next couple months or do you suggest I try to change the embassy and instead go to Armenia, etc?
Thanks for your help in advance!
April 20, 2021 at 20:02
You have to decide for yourself. If Armenia are scheduling and you can get there, that might be your best chance, but again – you have to decide.
