Brit,
As I was reading through the thread, I can see that mistakes in name spelling can lead to refusal even if the PA meets the other requirements which is an example in my case.
As a victim of that error, I must confess that I’m starting to get worried because a mistake was done on both my middle and last name during the initial entry. (Single letter in each case)
My question is,
1. Do you know the rate at which such cases are denied in my own country: SIERRA LEONE US embassy Freetown
2.As I had already written to KCC informing them about the mistake before we even filled out the DS 260,
Will that not be enough to prove it was a mistake.
3. Is there anything else one can do to avoid refusal based on this mistake, because as far as other requirements are concerned, I already have them.
They are asking for 5 credits in WASSCE or 5 credits in GCE O’ Levels here at the US embassy Freetown but I already have 7 Credits in WASSCE and a Bachelors degree.
Thanks Brit.

Hi Emmanuel
I think the reason they are becoming strict on spelling mistakes is because there are chances that there are people who are entering more than once in one period. Not that I am accusing you of fraud. I have jus been following this site and the number of mistakes on name spelling is just too much. One is left to wonder. From my own observation, I think people are leaving out letters on names and consciously entering a wrong date of birth to try and differentiate 2 identical entries. I mean people with masters degrees cannot jus spare an extra second to check their information before submitting an entry.
Although I do acknowledge that there some honest mistakes.
I don’t know if Brit has made the same observation.
December 17, 2016 at 14:44
Yes there is a lot of deliberate spelling mistakes. The rate of spelling mistakes is higher in certain countries and the corresponding increased rate of denial is not a shock. It’s about credibility of the applicant. The CO will make a judgement.
December 17, 2016 at 14:57
First, you are not a “victim” of an error that you are responsible for – because you are responsible. Now, you must understand, making a mistake on spelling your name is pretty unlikely – but you made two such mistakes. A CO will judge your credibility and decide whether the mistakes were an attempt to game the system. The fact that you submitted the correct info in your DS260 will at least have allowed the background check to be performed and thereby the risk of denial is reduced. BUT there is still a risk.
1. No I don’t know the rate of denial for name mistakes. You can see general refusal rates here: https://britsimonsays.com/embassy-league-table-statistics-refusalapissued/
2. I covered that above.
3. You have done as much as you can do. But there is still a risk.

December 17, 2016 at 15:01
Thank you.
December 17, 2016 at 04:54
first i want to thank you for your help,
Hi mr Brit,
1)My name on DV entry, passport and completed DS-260 is :MELKAMU MENGISTU AYELE.but on educational documents my name was: MALKAMU MANGSITU AYALA.If so does this affect my visa ?If affect how to I fix that problem?
2)my is CN AF 288** and I sent DS-260 on may 25,2016. when I expect my 2NL?from Ethiopia
Thank you in advance.
December 17, 2016 at 15:06
1. You may need to provide additional proof (whatever you can) that the educational document is yours.
2. You will have to wait until your number is current – I don’t know when that will be.
December 17, 2016 at 04:17
helo brit!
I’m sorry for the incomplete informmation. i’m from nepal. could you please inform me how long is it going to be for the 2nl letter of 2017AS000055** to arrive or get notfified?
December 17, 2016 at 15:10
I am not predicting VB progress. So – wait and see.

December 16, 2016 at 21:37
hi mr brit,
first i want to thank you for your help,
I have one question, if someone made a mistake(spelling mistake in middle name) on edv enry, and corrected it on ds260 then submitted,is it required from that person to tell(inform) the story to KCC by email ?
December 16, 2016 at 23:04
No. They know.
December 16, 2016 at 20:43
Sorry to ask a seemingly simple question,
As an individual who has lived in the US since age 14 legally on different visa (F-1, H1B), do I need to present a police certificate from my home country (Australia) if I left at age 14? On the travel.state.gov website it says:
Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.
Just wanted to confirm this doesn’t mean ‘Permanent Residents’ – just anyone who has lived in the U.S. after age 16 does not need a police certificate of ANY kind?
Thank you in advance.
December 16, 2016 at 23:11
Police certs are not need for USA. So, if you have ONLY lived in the USA since you turned 16, you do not need a police cert at all.
December 16, 2016 at 18:26
Hi,
I just wrote to the Kentucky office to ask about our case. This is what they answered, and what does exactly mean?
Do we have any chance of being scheduled in February ?
“Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and pending further embassy review for the continuation of your visa processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Interviews for the DV 2017 program will begin in October 2016 and conclude on September 30, 2017. Please refer to the visa bulletin at http://www.travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov.”

Hi Simon,
I have an interview scheduled in Australia in January.
I have two questions:
1) Do I need to submit all of my documents, birth certificate, diplomas etc. to the National Visa Center prior to the interview?
2) I have lived in the United States for over 6months after age 16. Is getting a Police certificate of Conduct from my local police (NYC) station sufficient?
Thank you –
December 16, 2016 at 18:07
1. No.
2. No police cert is needed for USA.
It sounds like you have not prepared for your interview well enough. The Australian embassy are keen to approve you, but you need to make sure you are properly prepared.

Simon,
in my husbands birth certificate (principal), the month of his MOTHERS birthday is written wrong, in the DS260 we wrote the correct date. The Municipal Office says it takes to long to correct it. In a week we have our interview. Does it make a problem in the interview or not, since we don’t need to bring other documents where the parents data are shown?
December 16, 2016 at 17:41
No problem.
December 16, 2016 at 15:48

December 16, 2016 at 15:43
Hi Brit, how many days after you did your biometrics you received the interview letter?
Thanks
December 16, 2016 at 17:43
It varies. The spreadsheet shows the experience of others.
December 20, 2016 at 18:12
Do you get any sort of notice once the biometrics are completed?
Thanks
December 20, 2016 at 18:22
You attend the biometrics appointment. They capture the biometrics. That is all.
December 16, 2016 at 12:14
hey Britt!
can uplease tel me when will the 2nl for 2017AS000055** be published? and also i’m trying for abroad study, will they reject my student visa if they find out i’ve been trying for dv lottery?
December 16, 2016 at 17:46
I’m not predicting VB progress.
Proceeding with the DV process (i.e. DS260 submission) might affect a temporary visa application, yes.
December 16, 2016 at 11:43
Hi Brit.
À friend of mine has Lost his passport containing his printed visa just 2 days before entering USA for the first time.
1) Can he get a non immigrant visa to enter the USA and benefit from the LPR status, as he as already paid for the GC online?
2) If not what advice can you give him?
Thanks.
December 16, 2016 at 17:47
1. No.
2. He should contact the embassy.
December 16, 2016 at 09:42
I have a child but am not married how should I fill the registration form because am being asked to fill in the spouse details
December 16, 2016 at 17:49
You skip the spouse and add the child.
December 16, 2016 at 08:48
I Brit,
I’m intending to get married in two months time. Since my case number is high am expecting my interview next summer ( jul -sep). However, I’m thinking that updating my ds260 and including my spouse will be problem for getting a visa. my question is
1. what will happen if i get married and not include on ds260?
2. will that be a problem?
December 16, 2016 at 17:52
You must notify KCC of such changes. Unlock your DS260 prior to the marriage and resubmit the moment you get married.
December 16, 2016 at 06:32

Hi brit
I have a question about how to pay and when to pay for the my green card?
I arrived just a weak ago to the US.
Thanks.
December 15, 2016 at 23:00
You normally get instructions on how to pay with the visa packet. The payment is made via an online system called Elis. Link below.

Hello Brit,
I’ve started my medical and the physician is requesting an additional exam. It’s an exam which Will déterminé wheither I have an STI.
I’m really afraid since the only problem I know I have is a poor view without glasses (LE: 0; RE: 2). I’ve done some researches and found that gonorrhea transmeted from the mother at the birth could lead to serious ocular troubles.
If the physician find out that my poor view is due to gonorrhea, coul the CO deny me the visa bases on that?
Excuz me if my english is not perfect. I’m a french speaker.
December 15, 2016 at 14:57
Possibly.
https://britsimonsays.com/faq/what-are-the-diseases-that-can-cause-denial/
December 16, 2016 at 11:50
I hope No. They told me not to worry because i’ts just à standard exam. I also found out that all those who started their medical the same day as mine were requested to take this exam.
December 15, 2016 at 07:31
Hi Brit,
Quick question: when making the move to the U.S. are there any restrictions/documentation associated with taking along your possessions, wedding jewelry specifically. Culturally as Indians we receive and possess large amount of gold in the form of jewelry for which there is no documentation as such.
December 15, 2016 at 15:11
No restrictions. Just use common sense about travelling with large amounts of jewelry.
December 15, 2016 at 06:13
Thanks
If some one has changed all his edv information, but has filled ds 260 ,can he get 2nl?
December 15, 2016 at 06:41
Yes.
It feels like you are just asking random questions. Please take a break. Ask questions that you NEED to ask.
December 15, 2016 at 03:45
Thanks Brit
All selectees ,whose case is scheduled for January interview has already recieved the letter?so i don,t expect my letter this month?
December 15, 2016 at 04:11
Correct.
December 15, 2016 at 03:15
Sorry I posted at a wrong page where stories of interview are given.
Applied for: Study short term UK visa
From Pakistan
Can someone tell me: my IO just interviewed on telephone (link was down so no online interview could be held). He was very courteous but I have not been told whether my visa has been approved or not.
December 15, 2016 at 04:11
I don’t advise on cases other than DV lottery.
December 15, 2016 at 03:12
Hope you are doing well great Man!
Need your help here please,
I passed the interview successfully on 6th of Dec and received the yellow card marked the issued part and consular told me to come by following Sunday for passport pick up but unfortunately it was holiday in the country on Sunday when I went on Monday the guards told me to wait for an email or call which still I didn’t receive any email/call.
Yesterday I opened my DS260 form where my new born baby form was showing incomplete although I had completed and provided the confirmation page to embassy and medical checkup where I put my passport number since he didn’t have on that time; I clicked on incomplete and filled the information again and submit/received new confirmation number.
But the problem is that now it is showing 6 members of our family in DS260 portal for my new born baby there is two forms now old and new (the difference is passport number), my question is that do you think it will have any impact on my visa issuance although I have passed interview
I am really worried about this mistake since I am regret I shouldn’t checked my DS260 although I passed the interview and such issue happened to my forms. Hopefully it doesn’t affect my visa.
Thanks for your usual help
December 15, 2016 at 04:13
Just wait for the embassy.
December 15, 2016 at 01:26
In question 3 Mr Brit its not about my DS 260 it in my first Dv entry but I have filled all the correct information in ds 260
December 15, 2016 at 00:38
Hellow Brit , let plz allow me to thank you by at least saying great and honest man for this valluable information.
I have some questions plz
1 in my 1NL its written that my Gmail address is not working. Its as bellow
C/o Gmail address not working
I couldnt be 100% but I am sure that I have wrote the right g mail adrees in my first entry
Am still using that gmail adrees whenever I want any message to kcc and that is what I filled in DS 260
1.1 question is, is that a problem if I have filled a wrong g mail adrees in my first entry as there could be a typing erore
2. Do you think that the counsler would aske about this, even it is ok with kcc
3 while I was filling the first entry I hadn’t much idea about the province and street of the current adrees ( I was living some where else from where I am living now) so I juist type the city name. Does this couse a problem
December 15, 2016 at 00:49
1. No
2. They don’t care about your email address.
3. Possibly. You should unlock and correct the DS260.
Edit. There is a chance that they will connect this inconsistencies with your case (the email address, the street address), and begin to suspect you are being less than honest. It is imperative that you are 100% honest and open in all other matters regarding your case.
December 15, 2016 at 05:41
Hi, Brit,
I think you understand why people ask you more and more questions because we want to hear from the horse’s mouth. As you have written in this particular comment that the present address written in the entry needs to be the same where the interviewee currently lives. In my case, I am in HK where I got to after I had submitted DS260, on a student visa. Is unlocking meant to change the current address also or is it meant for serious changes like name, marital status and so on? I know a person can move to 10 different places between submitting DS260 and the interview. So what do you suggest? I have an interview scheduled for January and nothing has been mentioned of HK there.
December 15, 2016 at 06:45
I already answered you on this matter.

December 14, 2016 at 20:52
Dear Simon,
First of all thank you for all the valuable information. I have written to you some months ago and I would like some new advice if that is possible. I am a Dv 2017 winner from Albania, cn 10***, ds 260 submitted on September and unlocked 2 days ago. I have studied for 4 months in another country and now I’m back in my country. Before I left for my study, my fiancee and me officially married and submitted Ds 260 together. I’ve unlocked my application form bcs I needed to add some new information on my study, graduation and update my address. But since my spouse and me are still looking for a place to live together, would it be a problem if I add my current (parents) address as I dont have a sure address yet? This means that our addresses would be different on our application, so I’m a bit concerned about this.Meanwhile we have plenty of other sources to prove our long relationship and a planned wedding soon. Please advice me wisely on this matter. Thank you for your restless work and all the best!
December 14, 2016 at 22:57
I have known some cases where different addresses for husband and wife created doubt about the validity of the marriage. So – it may not be a problem, but there is a small additional risk.
December 14, 2016 at 20:48
My case number 2017EU000012XX
Ds 260 send 29 august
When i invite viza?
Thanks
December 14, 2016 at 23:03
Possibly in about 2 weeks, or, more likely in 6 weeks from now.
December 14, 2016 at 19:57
hi britsimon
the rule that saying :-
A Green Card holder can also lose the LPR status in certain scenarios
Leave the country for longer than 12 months without obtaining prior permission (re-entry permit)
for example i came use november 2016 and i’m planing to go back my country march 2017 then i wanna come back USA october 2017 , that means its less then a year
so i am confusing when they gonna start counting the year, is it the day from my first entery ( november ) or march which is the day leave USA
thanks for yr help
December 14, 2016 at 20:13
March.
December 14, 2016 at 12:44
i got selected in dv of 2017 from nepal and DS-260 submitted on 25th august 2016 and my case number is around ASxxxxx….65xx and i am looking for 2NL..PLEASE inform me when it will come….hope u will reply asap….
December 14, 2016 at 15:09
Your number is not yet current. It won’t be current for a few more months – I don’t know exactly when – so – wait and see.
December 14, 2016 at 10:34
Hello BritSimon, my father was selected for dv lottery 2017 and I was included as a derivate for not reaching 21 y/o yet the day applying for dv lottery, (20 y/o and six months) The embassy calls my father just one week before the interview and tells my father that your son wont be allowed to have a visa because the rules “suddenly” changed. I know that the embassy decides for it but is this fair?
And thank you for your help in the forum.
December 14, 2016 at 15:36
The rules have NOT changed. There is a misunderstanding OR it is possible the embassy didn’t understand the CSPA rules well enough (read my link below).
The CSPA provides some protection for a child after the child turns 21, but for a specific period of time (215 days in your case). So – whether they made a mistake or not depends on the precise date of your birthday and your month of interview. The article below explains the calculation, or you can tell me your birthday and I will calculate for you. But if you were to be interviewed in December, your 21st birthday would have to have been in May 2016. If your birthday was in April, you would only have been covered up to November.
https://britsimonsays.com/child-turn-21-can-heshe-get-visa/
December 14, 2016 at 17:05
My birthday is in 13 of april, and my family interview date is in December 20.
Thank you so much, since there is nothing i can do about it, how can i join my family someday?
December 14, 2016 at 17:21
Oh wow, so if you had been interviewed in November you would have been OK. Reading between the lines, what the embassy were saying was not that the law had changed, but that you had aged out at the end of November. What had “changed” was the calendar.
So there is good news, and bad news.
The good news is your family will be able to sponsor you once they are US residents.
The bad news is that it will be a long, complicated, and expensive process – especially in comparison the the DV process. Sponsoring a son/daughter has a waiting period you can see on the visa bulletin. Currently that waiting is over 6 years. Get married and the waiting becomes over 11 years. An option may be to move to the USA on some temporary visa (like student visa) and then later try to adjust status. It will still be a slow process, but you could at least be with the family in the meantime.
December 14, 2016 at 17:36
I already have a bachelor degree, and that student visa does it have a criteria or how does it works? You apply and just cross your fingers? And when do you apply?
Thanks alot you have been more clear than Us embassy already
December 14, 2016 at 17:46
I don’t know much about the student visas, so I can’t tell you the criteria/application process. You will need to look into it yourself. It’s not the only type of visa you could get (there are employment based visas, business visas and so on) – but again – I only focus on DV.
December 14, 2016 at 09:39
Hi Brit
I made a mistake in entry forms (one spelling mistake in my last name) And I corrected it in ds260,so this is a big problem?
December 14, 2016 at 15:40
Typically not.
December 14, 2016 at 09:25
Hi Simon I’m Charles from Ghana i committed a typographical error during my original entry, instead of Charles i wrote Chales, i nottified KCC on the issue to which they said it will be reviewed and will be included in my case file. I had my interview yesterday but it looked like KCC did not do enough background checks on both names, because the CO gave me a temporal refusal letter and said they will contact me once they hear from KCC. I will write down the full details of what conspired later but for now i would like to know
1.How long will it take before the embassy will write to KCC because i know they usually reply within 3 working days
2.i travel to Accra from a different region would be adviceable to wait for the call or to go back.
3. your guide really helped a lot, just that i would prevented all these if only i printed my contact with KCC. God bless u
December 14, 2016 at 15:44
1. I don’t know. I’m not even sure they will contact KCC – I don’t see why they would (they have full access to your correspondence).
2. AP can take days or months.
3. Sorry it went badly, but in Ghana this kinds of mistakes are commonly assumed to be some sort of fraud. Any mistake on even a genuine case amplifies the chance of refusal. It is a positive sign that they put you on AP – the normal reaction would have been instant refusal.
I assume your DS260 had the correct version of the name?
December 14, 2016 at 16:19
my ds260 had the correct name.
The CO actually told me he was going to contact KCC to be sure i did not do double entry, before he gets back to me.
he also told me they would call immediately they get a response from KCC, but i don’t know how long it would before the embassy sends the enquiry.
All my Original documents are with them, it would really be inconvenient to me if it is to take months,
Do i still stand a chance or is that just a subtle denial
December 14, 2016 at 17:05
Ghana are very used to denying cases. They wouldn’t feel any need to be subtle. So – you just have to be patient.
December 14, 2016 at 17:20
Charles can u please contact me..am in the same situation..please let me hear from you..from Ghana [email protected]
December 14, 2016 at 09:05
hello,
how long does it take the NVC to review the DS260 and the documents? i file my application last 10-10-2016 but until today there is no response from them
December 14, 2016 at 15:45
If yours is a DV lottery case, NVC are not involved. KCC process DV cases. The DS260 is taking several months to process.
December 14, 2016 at 07:00
Hello,
I just landed here in the US with green card 2017AFxxx,i want to file waiver for my wife who was left in Ghana because she was found inadmissible.
Do i wait till i get the actual green card or i can just file right now? because i am now a LPR.
Thank you.

You will need to speak to a lawyer.

My case number 2017EU00099xx. I filled ds260 on Aug 11. And did unlock and changed US address on November 10 again. I saw visa bulletin and it says for EU about 14000. What do u think when can i get visa interview date? Thanks

Your late submission of the DS260 will have caused a delay. I don’t know whether your form will be cleared in time for a February interview. It could be March, or perhaps even April.

Typically the SSN arrives in 2 to 3 weeks after arrival. If not received by then, go the the nearest SSA office.

Hello BritSimon!
I do really need your help answering this question. We have been selected to the 2017 DV Lotter but we have a big mistake in our first entry and we have sent the following email to the embassy and we have received a very strange reply.
Dear Mrs. / Mr. Consular officer!
I and my wife will come soon to the embassy for the interview for the 2017 immigration visa but we have a problem which we recently discovered.
When my wife applied for the diversity lottery in October 2015 she did not apply by herself but she applied through a service office which belongs to the church where we live because they have guys who should be experienced and have computer skills. Anyhow, when she went to that office she left a copy of her and my passport and a photographs, but when she went back to that office to collect the confirmation page she been told that the guy who entered her data for the diversity lottery applied for her as unmarried because he did not see the other copy of the passport of the husband (as he said).
My wife was so worried and stressed and asked them to reapply one more time with right data, but she been told that this is impossible as well she been told that this is just a mistake and it happens and in case if she will be selected then she can just fill out the applications as married and it won’t be a problem. Later when we knew that she been selected for the 2017 diversity lottery we simply, honestly and normally submitted the DS 260 form and we wrote that we are married since May 24 2015 (and they registered her entry on 20th of October 2015), but as we could read on the internet as well we been informed by the Kentucky center that this mistake can disqualify our applications and they advised us to get contact with you at the embassy to ask about what should we do and if the consular officer at the embassy can understand our unhappy situation with this mistake which we did not do and it was not on purpose!
I am Egyptian Swedish citizen and i work as case officer in the Swedish social security authority, and my wife moved to Sweden few months ago. We are very honest people and we ever had or have the intention to lie, hide or give wrong information to the American embassy and as we mentioned before that was just a human mistake of the office which we hired to apply for us.
The logical question here is that why should we hide that we are married and then fill out the DS 260 form as married? We do not have one single reason to do such a mistake on purpose. We are losing our life dream and the only hope we have is your appreciable understanding and consideration to our case. Please help us.
AND THEN WE RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING REPLY:
You will be notified on the day of the interview, the officer will inform you the details.
Regards,
Consular Staff.
SO!?
why the Kentucky center have processed our applications? if this mistake will disqualify our case so why do not they say this in their reply and what do they mean by their answer? have you ever seen a case like ours? do you recommend that we go to the interview? Is it better to change the interview point to Sweden and perhaps the consular staff in Sweden can show more understanding?
Thank you for your patience and your kind help.
December 13, 2016 at 23:46
The embassy are following standard procedures. If your number becomes current, you are entitled to an interview to process your case. They have a responsibility to conduct that interview and their procedures actually say they should conduct the interview (adjudicate the case) even when they are sure the case must be disqualified.
Now, given the circumstances of your case, I am sure you WILL be disqualified. There is no doubt. So – you can choose to attend the interview, but the fees will not be refunded.
December 14, 2016 at 00:18
This excerpt is exactly what their guidelines say regarding processing cases.
“(2) Processing Cases to Conclusion: We can appreciate posts’ efforts to prescreen applications allowing unqualified applicants to withdraw their applications to avoid paying the required fees. Nevertheless, like all other visa applications, it is important to process such cases to conclusion and not to simply allow the candidate to withdraw the application. Instances have arisen where DV winners who were advised not to make an application at a post abroad have then entered the United States and requested adjustment of status processing at DHS.”
December 14, 2016 at 00:21
And this is from the same official guidelines, regarding the mistake your wife made.
“(iii) You must deny the applications of applicants who failed to list on their initial entries a spouse or all children who were required to be listed. This does not include a spouse or child who was acquired subsequent to submission of qualifying DV entry. The spouse of a principal alien, if acquired after the initial entry and prior to the principal alien’s admission, or the child of a principal alien, if the child was born after entry or is the issue of a marriage which took place after entry and prior to the principal alien’s admission to the United States, although not named on an application, is entitled to derivative DV status.”
December 17, 2016 at 17:48
but is there any possibility that the officer can show some understanding and accept our applications? when i talked to the Kentucky center i been told that the embassy can make its own decision.
Best regards
December 17, 2016 at 18:02
No possibility. I showed you their guidelines. “You MUST deny the applications of applicants who failed to list on their initial entries a spouse or all children who were required to be listed.”

December 13, 2016 at 17:40
Well the best advice is always to over prepare. Take documents you think might be needed. Hav id that, they don’t really care about where you are living at the moment, other to know that you are law abiding.

Hi
Brit
in the first place i really appreciate you on your valuable advice for this all people
Dear
look i am dv 2017 winner with my two kids and husband from Ethiopia and i wana ask you a little Quotations
Q1. During the ds260 process is the background checking is only for the principal applicant or all derivatives?
Q2. During interview is all education and work experience document is necessary for both me and my spouse ? does the CO will see all our paperwork? if yes in what case my husband paperwork will support me cause i don’t have any diploma or degree i am only grade 12 complete ?
Q3. During interview how many CO will be available to ask us? and is there any office for our interview or it is on one of the window?
Q4. in Ethiopia the minimum dv edification requirement is grade 12 complete i am only grade 12 complete with low grade so do think they will disqualified me because of my education or they will consider my husband education and work experience as a support for me BRIT..BRIT please need your advice what to do on this issue?
Q5. till now how many applicants has been disqualified for dv 2017 ?
Q6 on family dv my spouse and my child’s win this dv on my from so what is the value of there wining on the same form i mean on education and work experience ?
December 13, 2016 at 14:34
1. We don’t know for sure.
2. Only the principal has to show how they meet the requirement.
3. You are interviewed by one CO – at the window typically.
4. If YOU are the principal selectee, then only your qualification is considered. If you cannot meet the requirement the whole family will be refused.
5. I don’t know the 2017 numbers – but thousands are disqualified each year.
6. I think I have answered that in 2 and 4.
December 13, 2016 at 13:43
Hi,I submitted my ds260 in late july and unlock the 10th of November and resubmitted on the 12th of November. The change I made was to just add my ivory coast location…..so when do you think I can expect my 2NL? Thanks.
December 13, 2016 at 14:38

my case num is 2017AS000044**
December 13, 2016 at 20:08
When you uit your DS260 it becomes “locked” – and cannot be edited. Unlocking is needed if people need to make any changes to the DS260.
December 13, 2016 at 14:44
I guess you will know in about 2 weeks.

Hello BritSimons,
I’m from Nepal with case number 72** ( From the research I’ve done there is very very low chance that I won’t get called for interview ). I’ve already filled DS-260 back in June/July.
So, what I want to do is withdraw my DS-260 and later in July 2017 apply for F1-visa ( Student Visa ).
Actually I had planned earlier for Student Visa and applied for DV randomly.
Do you think this would be wise move? OR filling Ds-260 might create problem for non-immigrant category visa even though I’ll withdraw the application.
Plus, how can I withdraw my application.
Thank you for your help!
December 13, 2016 at 06:13
No, I don’t think it is a wise move. You have declared your interest, now I would ride it out if I were you.
December 13, 2016 at 06:41
Thank you for the reply.
So, I should for wait for DV Results and apply for student visa if I didn’t get called for interview?
December 13, 2016 at 07:10
That is what I would do.
