Hi Simon
Hope you are well.
I was wondering if:
1- a French baccalaureate diploma (with English translation) is enough to show the CO to pass the education requirement. (I have proof of high school of the last 2 years prior to passing the baccalaureate but they are in French (interview is tomorrow)
Thanks for the feedback
Andy
June 22, 2021 at 13:58
I don’t track all embassies criteria and all education systems, but if that baccalaureate is the same as a BSc, then it is probably fine.
June 21, 2021 at 20:12
Hello
Did anyone receive a reply from kcc!!
I have sent them an email a month ago still no reply!
June 22, 2021 at 08:41

June 21, 2021 at 21:43
DV2022 Processing Question:
Hi Brit,
Do you know if KCC started processing DS260’s for DV2022 already? And if so would you estimate the number of already processed cases to be above 10? Above 100?
June 22, 2021 at 14:12
I don’t know.
June 23, 2021 at 09:26
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your support. My question is : My wife is planning to enter DV2023, holding French nationality & born is Republic of Djibouti in 1971 which was then a French Territory at the time of birth. What should be the Chargeability Region Africa or Europe ? Is there any statically advantage for selecting either EU v/s AF . Thank you for your help.
June 24, 2021 at 04:42
She should select Djibouti – and that will be in Africa region. If she selectes France or EU she is 100% certain to be disqualified.

Dear Simon
My CN is 2021AF19×××, I’m good luck plaintiff.
I submitted my docs 3 months ago. And I’ve been asking whether they’re satisfactory or not.
Today, I got this email: “congratulations ! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current an appointments are available…etc”.
Is this real or it’s an automatic email people are getting that KCC isn’t aware of it? Like that one (that asks for further documents) that many people were getting when they sent the documents without being asked to do so.
I’m asking because I didn’t expect that KCC would process any document any longer after the government announced that there are enough cases that are documentrally qualified.
My warmest gratitude.
June 22, 2021 at 06:27
Hi Haphiz, 1.Please when did you receive email from KCC to send documents to them. 2. Did you receive such email from KCC at all to send documents. 3. What month did you send your documents to KCC. 4. Which country will you you be scheduled for your interview. Thank you
June 22, 2021 at 19:59
Hi Sam
1- I didn’t receive an email that asks for the documents
2- no
3- March /2021
4- Sudan
June 22, 2021 at 14:13
It’s real, and you have some chance of interview depending on your embassy.
Had KCC asked you for the documents?
June 22, 2021 at 19:54
No it hadn’t! I took your advice and sent the documents without being asked.
June 24, 2021 at 04:09
Good – then that was a good decision.
June 21, 2021 at 23:01
Hi Simon,
How many visas has been issued for DV2020 and for DV2021 so far? I’d like to know this data so that I can have an idea what it’s gonna be for DV2022 (which I am a winner).
Thank you
June 22, 2021 at 14:14
That really doesn’t help you since both years were terribly hampered by bans and covid.
June 22, 2021 at 15:12
Ok, but do we have a rough estimation? Is DV2021 looking better than DV2020 or about the same?
June 24, 2021 at 04:03
Really – what is the point of this question? We know the exact issued numbers – so what? DV2021 is not over yet.
June 21, 2021 at 23:51
Hi brit,
I’m from somalia and there is DV2021 Winners those who interviewed at Us Embassy in Nairobi.
After they Interview, the CO told them that he needs some revision about travel ban and put them AP, eventhough the muslim ban was revoked.
I need your advise i am going Interview for comming weeks and i have dual passports (Two Nationalities). But i filled DS260 with Somali Passport.
Can i take my two passport to the embassy eventhough my 2nd Nationality i wasn’t mention it in DS260.
Is that possible to claim my 2nd nationality to get my visa on my 2nd passport that i was not mention it in DS260?
Thank you
June 22, 2021 at 14:16
Frankly you should have told them about your dual nationality. At this point I would not reveal the problem you caused.
June 22, 2021 at 05:59
Hi Simon
1. I have already submitted my documents to kcc months back.
2. My passport I have used for the DV entry was about to expire so I got a new passport recently.
3. I’ve reopened my DS260 yesterday and updated my passport information with new one.
Should I send the documents (with new passport) soon or should I wait till them ask?
Thank you
June 22, 2021 at 08:38

June 22, 2021 at 14:18
Take old and new passports to the interview.
June 22, 2021 at 17:34
Hi there
Are you dv 2022 or 2021?
June 22, 2021 at 19:16
Hi
DV2021
June 22, 2021 at 07:03
Hi just realized after watching your video that we need not submit a police clearance from one of the countries we’ve been in according to the reciprocity page. In this case, Do we need to submit an explanation letter mentioning this or can we simply ignore that country and submit the rest of the PCs.
June 22, 2021 at 14:19
A letter of explanation would be wise.
June 24, 2021 at 12:22
Hi, Brit. for the I have been living in a countries since 2006. for the police clearance for this countries I found in my old files soft copy. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the original hard copy. should I send the a letter of explanation or not?
June 24, 2021 at 15:09
No need – if you are not renewing the police certificate, send the soft copy to KCC and print it out for the interview.
June 22, 2021 at 09:21
Hi Simon, we are struggling with the esignature on the final page of the D260. There seems to be nowhere to add or do your esignature. Used an iPad and a laptop with no luck.
Thank you in advance
June 22, 2021 at 14:20
You just click.
June 22, 2021 at 09:39

Hello Brit. Im dv2022 19xxx eu winner. I still didnt subbmit ds260 becouse I have some doubts and I dont want to mess something up.
There is a question in ds260 “have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime…”.
12 years ago when I was 18 I was arrested by mistake for a crime of braking in and stealing. I was brought to police station offices for questioning and they let me go after couple of hours. Couple of months later the charges were dropped, there was no trial and no conviction of any type, I didnt went to jail/prison and I didnt had to pay bail. I sued the police for the troubles they put me thru and I won money compensation. My police records and certificate are completely clean.
1. Do I have to mention all that in the ds260 in the question “have you ever been arrested or convicted” or just answer no, since its not in my records?
2. In the mail kcc send for documents do I need to send them some special police certificates/documents about this event?
June 22, 2021 at 14:28
1. You were arrested…
2. No – just normal police certs.
June 22, 2021 at 11:28
Dear Simon
I hope you are well
Today I had my interview at the US consulate. It went well but the CO was a bit confused with my passport. I had the interview in country A. Country A is my country of birth. That is what I have on my ds260 as well as on my lottery entry.
I have country’s A passport.
I also hold country B’s passport.
I showed up at the embassy with both passports but showed first country B passport, the one I wish to use for the visa.
At the end of the interview, the CO said: “your case is slightly different from those we receive and we will have to do some accounting.”
He took also a scanned copy of my country A passport bio page.
This is because the CO is used to have people with country A passport.
He gave me the visa approval paper and told be that I can pick my passport within 2 weeks.
On my interview letter my country of chargeability is country A, my country of birth.
I am a bit confused about what he said. What does it mean he needs to do some accounting? Am I okay to receive the visa ?
Thanks for the help !
June 22, 2021 at 13:03
Andy Congratulations on your approval.
You mentioned yourself that you used Country A details for your entry and ds260 input.
And you got to the interview showing up with Country B passport for visa issuance. That alone is convincing.
That is why the CO said some accounting is needed.
You should have just presented your Country A passport for the Visa Issuance.
Nothing to worry about your visa will be printed on the necessary passport.
Remember it is the visa here that is important. Just avoid the stress.
June 22, 2021 at 13:45
Hi Jay
Thank you for your message.
I did not present country A passport because it expires in less than 6 months whereas country B one is good to go for many years…
He kept country B and gave me back country A passport…
June 22, 2021 at 14:29
You should be OK. Just wait.
June 22, 2021 at 18:27
Thanks Simon
Is there a rule to show up with the local passport of the country where the embassy is?
I found it strange…
Btw I listed both my A and B passports in my ds260 with the correct country of birth which is A..but because A is expiring soon I have them B…
Now the embassy took passport b and only a scanned copy of passport A..
Do you advise me to renew country A passport set to expire in October in case the embassy decides to print the visa on it ?
Thanks for the support !
June 23, 2021 at 22:32
Hi Andy
Could you please share your interview story?
Best
June 24, 2021 at 15:12
Hi JK
Sure.
My appointment was at 9:30 am at the Embassy.
I brought with me all necessary documents all in a back bag.
When I arrived outside the embassy, I was told by the security to leave the bag out and only enter with the papers. So I did.
They checked if my name was on the checklist. They asked for my passport. Scanned me from neck to toe and allowed me to go queue with the others outside the embassy. After a few minutes, I was invited to come in the first security check point, this time inside the embassy.
They took my finger prints.
They I was told to go the the second security checkpoint where they scan all your papers and take your phone away.
After that I waited in the waiting room for maybe 10 min.
Then I was invited to go in the actual interview room.
In it, I was told to pay the 330 dollar for the visa fee. I was given a receipt.
I was then told to wait in the room.
On that room were perhaps 12-15 people. A mixture of dv winners and some other visa interview (student etc).
The consulate officers were behind a “cashier looking desk”.
A bit like a bank, where you have cashier 1 to 6. Behind Each cashier was a person whose role was different. The first one asked me for what visa I was here for. I told him dv. He took my passport and asked me to wait.
Meanwhile 3-4 interviews were going on simultaneously. I could hear the questions and started to get familiar with was would be asked from me. After a good 1 hour of waiting and listening to the interviews, I was called by desk number 2.
That desk asked me for specific documents:
Birth certificate, police, court, celibacy, passport + bio page, high school diploma. They took all the original and gave back the copies to me.
I could see what was happening on that desk. The person was simply gathering the docs for the CO. She had a checklist and ticked when the docs were presented to her.
She then asked me if I had an address where the GC would be delivered. I said I have a new one. I gave her the new address. She updated it on the system. She then asked me to go wait. I walked towards the back of the room and waited for perhaps 10-12 min when the CO called my name.
I approached the desk with my other supportive documents just in case he asks for them.
It was a very very basic exchange. The CO was very friendly with a sense of humor.
First he quickly went through the docs given by desk 2. Simultaneously he was looking at his computer screen.
He asked me those questions:
-what year did you graduate from high school? I said 2009
-what is this medical condition you have? I explained what it is.
– do you do drugs? I said no
– where will you go in America ? I said Florida
-what type of work will you do? I said briefly what I might do there
– Lift right hand and swear it is true? I swear
I gave him my passport.
He said I recommend your approval best of luck you will receive the passport within 5-10 working days.
I thanked him and left
Questions are simple- no silly or sneaky question from CO. He did not try to trick anyone.
All the people that passed before me got their approval. 1 only got admin processing because of medical after interview .
June 24, 2021 at 15:19
I forgot to mention his first question was do you speak English?
70 % of people in that day whom were present with me did not speak a word of English! They all got a local translator that works with the CO in the embassy. They all got approval.
Also most people vaguely answered the question what work will you do? Some had no idea, some said maybe this or that. And that was fine.
Also at desk 2 they asked for only 1 picture not 2. Maybe it’s different from embassy to embassy.
Hope this was helpful for you and others
Andy
June 24, 2021 at 04:07
No such rule.
Just wait.
June 24, 2021 at 16:19
Medical after interview?
June 24, 2021 at 11:49
Hi, andy in KCC did you sent two passport pictures or one? What about birth certificates?
June 24, 2021 at 19:08
Hi Mohamed
I’m not sure what you mean. You only send electronic email to Kcc with all the documents. If they ask for a picture you send a scanned copy of the picture..(but I don’t think you need to send a picture to Kcc at this stage)
Pictures are asked during interview, on the travel.gov they request usually 2 pictures 5*5
June 24, 2021 at 19:11
you can find all information on

June 25, 2021 at 20:03
Thank you Andy for sharing your experience.
June 22, 2021 at 13:29
Thank for your commitment to help us by delivery valuable information. I have filled DS 260 form for the fiscal year of 2021 DV program. Should i give a biometrics or fingerprint before KCC told me to do so? Thank you!

No
June 22, 2021 at 13:31
Hi Brit,
My husband is DV winner 2021AS14XXX, and currently we live in Australia, and our interview will be here. we submitted our documents on February 2021. But we didn’t get any response from KCC, my questions are ,
1) As per your experience, in this moment, is it worth if i send an email to Sydney consular office asking about the interview or ask from the KCC ?
2) which options is worth ?
3) Even Sydney consular started the interviews on DV 2021, will they consider the other regions cases, like ours at last ?
Thanks in advance for your great work.
June 22, 2021 at 14:31
1. No
2. Did you join the Lawsuit?
3. Yes, but only if your documents are processed and KCC schedule your case.
June 22, 2021 at 13:35

Hi Brit,
I am DV 2021 winner, case number AS23XXX, GOH plaintiff. I sent my documents in April following your instructions. I emailed kcc in May asking if they were satisfied with my documents. I sent my documents again last week. Today I received the following reply from KCC. I would like to know:
1. What it means?
2. What should be my next move?
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
June 24, 2021 at 03:58
1. Your forms have been received and are currently processing.

Should I ask them to unlock my DS260? DV2022 AF 30K
Thank you
June 24, 2021 at 04:04
You may as well correct that, yes.
June 22, 2021 at 15:36
Hi Brit
In the last report in the Rai case, the government said that it is possible in emergency cases to schedule an interview for a winner without being a DQ
Do you think this could happen this year, especially with a court order?!!!!
June 24, 2021 at 04:04
We will see.
June 22, 2021 at 17:12
Hi sir am dv 2022 winner and u made some mistake in my ds260 form I sent for unlock for two weeks now what should I do please?

June 22, 2021 at 20:02
Dear Simon
I am winner of DV2021 and as you know we have limited time till september 2021 my question is
1. KCC not emailed for supporting documents Should i submit supporting documents to KCC.

June 22, 2021 at 21:37
Good day Brit. we are a family of 4. I was the principal applicant for Dv2020 AF58k, still waiting for the outcome from Judge Melta
We are lucky again with Dv2022 Af43k
This time my husband is the principal applicant.
Pls your opinion .Are we safe with Dv2022?
The section for vaccination. My children were given the basic vaccines and my husband already had his Yellow fever vaccine. My worry is should I take yes or no. At the vaccine question.
Thanks so much for your time

Hello Simon,
If i have 2nd Nationality from Country B but i lived that country only 3 months and that 3 months i was an above 16 years old. Do i need to bring Police Clearence from that Country?
Thank you
June 24, 2021 at 04:17
What do the instructions say?
June 23, 2021 at 01:11
Hello Sir.
I fill DS260 with two citizenship, but my two passports was written different birth place names. Is that problem to have different birth places. I mean two different cities in two different countries?
Thank you.
June 24, 2021 at 04:27
You were only born once. The birth certificate you should should be the one from the country where you were born.
June 23, 2021 at 15:32
Don’t worry so much about the vaccine section, when you go through your medical exam you’ll be forced to get the vaccines you’re missing anyways
June 24, 2021 at 04:12
1. There is no “safe” in these times.
2. Answer no.
June 22, 2021 at 22:02
For DV 2022 , I am From Egypt and my number is AF-33XXX, I found someone here his number AF-6XXX Which is very weird ….could you explain please
June 24, 2021 at 04:13
Explain what? What is weird?
June 22, 2021 at 22:45
hello brit i have a question i sent the documents on april 17th without asking me for them under your advice without having any answer, despite myself i didn’t join any cause and i think my chances are totally gone, i asked if they were satisfied my documents twice on May 27th and May 10th arrive with no response. what is your opinion on this whole situation? the email where to ask if they are satisfied with the documents is the classic kcc @ or you have to ask document @ thanks for your answer I wish you the best
June 24, 2021 at 04:16
All you can do is wait and hope – it’s a pity you did not join a lawsuit, that might have helped.
June 22, 2021 at 23:18
Hi Simon! Thank you for your Outstanding.
I have two Nationalities, and i filled DS260 Both of them.
When i am going to send KCC my documents.
Do i need to send two passport pictures with two different Birth Certificates from both countries. Or i just have to send only the main passport that i used to singn and submited my DS260 with his birth Certificate?
Thank you once again.
June 24, 2021 at 04:16
One photo, and one birth certificate because you were only born once.
June 23, 2021 at 01:13
Hello Brit 2022 fiscal year starts in October this year. We all know DV 2021 halted because of presidential proclamation and therefore had less time to process documents.
1. Are DV 2022 interviews starting this October? Obviously some embassies are reluctant but we can be sure that working embassies will start this October for sure right?
2. About my DS 260…I got a confirmation page after submitting it. Sometimes I just use the ceac site to check on it and I see at the right corner “Your case is currently at KCC” but when I try to check on page to page I am able to make changes. Does it mean I didn’t submit it well or what or its normal that the cursor appears even though I’ve submitted it. I have a confirmation page though. I see all pages marked ✅
June 23, 2021 at 01:50
Sorry it has been locked. Just checked..can’t make any changes and it has been stated completed. Thanks. Kindly answer the first question.
June 24, 2021 at 04:28
1. Probably, but perhaps at the reduced capacity/priority we are seeing now.
2. It sounds like you did not submit the form. It should say “completed” and be locked to not allow changes.
June 23, 2021 at 02:35
Hi Brit
I know its early to predict,My CN is DV22 AS148** Japan.Do you think i have chance of Interview assuming Tokyo embassy will continue to remain open.
If Yes when should i expect my case to be current?
Thank you
June 23, 2021 at 15:30
You’re right, it is to early to predict. But, assuming this was a normal year you would probably be interviewed around July/August
June 23, 2021 at 02:38
Hi Britsimon, I hope you are doing well. I have a question, my brother is DV2022. He is living in Panama since 4 years ago. He has a temporary residence but he has been working in an informal job of a friend who does not have a registered company. My question is this informal job qualify as a formal work in the primary occupation in the DS260 or Does he need to put he is not currently employed?. If so, It would affect the approval of the Visa?. My second question is about the occupation he intent to work in USA. He is Electrical Technician. Which category correspond to that occupation in the D260?
Thank so much for everything you do for us,
June 24, 2021 at 04:35
1. He should list the work he is doing.
2. I don’t have the DS260 to hand, so just use some judgement.
June 23, 2021 at 03:51
Hi Brit. It is June, 20th, 2021.and I have not received any response on selection for 2020 application. Does it mean that i was not selected, or selection is still going on?
June 24, 2021 at 04:37
Please be clear what you mean. Are you a selectee? Did you check your entry at the ESC page?
June 23, 2021 at 06:20
Hi Britt,
I am selected for further processing for DV2022, case number EU00018***. I completed DS260 form and as I am married added my husband as an applicant, but his status is Snd (Under Review) for almost 3 days now.
What does this mean? How should we proceed?
Thank you,
June 24, 2021 at 04:38
Wait a week or two then ask KCC.
June 23, 2021 at 07:37
Hi Brit,
My Name Mohammed from Jordan. regarding to filling out the DS-260, I want to aske you about mailing and Permanent Address information page. they are asking that “Is Your Mailing Address the same as your present address?”
I want to know what is the Mailing address are require here. is it the present mailing address in my current country? or is it the future mailing address in USA? please clarify what he mean by the mailing address her.
June 24, 2021 at 04:39
Mail = letters.
So – do you get letters addressed to where you live?

Hey Brit
I don’t know if you have an answer for my question but
My husband was born in Saudi arabia in late 1991 in one of the far cities from the capitals so there was-not so much of a system
We tried to get his saudi birth certificate they told us he is not registered
It turned out that when his parents left saudi after 2 months he was born and get back to jordan they only had his hospital birth notification and registered him in Jordan and they never returned to Saudi
He already has Jordanian birth certificate and it’s mentioned born place saudi
If we were asked to show a saudi birth certificate would a written explanation of why can’t we get it be enough?
We could also provide a writen explanation from the civil status in saudi
June 24, 2021 at 04:43
I don’t know – I can only suggest to read the SA reciprocity page which describes ways to obtain a birth record.
June 24, 2021 at 10:42
If you have his hospital birth notification you can apply for birth certificate at ahwal al madani for that area. However they dont entertain other people and you will have to apply in person (but do try to send some arabic speaking friend). I saw recently in these comments section same case as yours. He was from Egypt who had his interview and they held his passport and told him to bring saudi issued birth certificate even though he had egyptian birth certificate mentioning he was born in KSA. So they are definitely going to ask for that and if you are DV2022 i suggest you try to arrange it. Please read saudi arabia reciprocity page as well.
If you are unable to help then i wish you the best and hope explaination from civil status works.

Use your own judgement.
June 23, 2021 at 14:56
Hello Simon,
Have been following this comments section since a month and not even a single DV2022 winner has received request for documents from KCC nor are they responding to any queries or DS260 unlock requests. They seem to be solely concentrating on DV2021(rightly so)
If i am understanding the process correctly, KCC will have till end of July (scheduling for sept interviews) to finish all work related to DV2021
1) Is the above correctly summarized in your opinion?
2) If above is correct, Will KCC start working ONLY on DV2022 cases from August to schedule DV2022 interviews from October onwards?

JM
To be honest, I feel sad about DV 2021 winners. The opportunity is gradually slipping away through no fault of winners especially if one is not on any of the lawsuits.
June 23, 2021 at 19:25
I think everyone had a chance to join a ‘bargain’ mandamus litigation.
June 24, 2021 at 04:46
1. Sort of. The lawsuits could affect the work.
2. We have to wait and see.
June 23, 2021 at 16:23
hello Mr. Simon
how to answer these questions ?
Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?
if i answer with no it asks for an explanation , what should i write ?
Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examination or its equivalent?
my answer is yes but i am preparing for the exam although not officially registering to take it
does the question imply whether that i have an intent to work there illegally ? , which is not what i intend to
Are you a health care worker seeking to perform such work in the United States but have not yet received certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools or from an equivalent approved independent credentialing organization?
i am doctor , do i answer with no or yes ?
Do you authorize disclosure of information from this form to the Department of Homeland Security, the Social Security Administration, and such other U.S. Government agencies as may be required for the purposes of assigning you a social security number (SSN) and issuing you a Social Security card and do you authorize the Social Security Administration to share your SSN with the Department of Homeland Security?
there is a note after the question that says
(If you answer ‘No’ to this question you will not receive a social security card.)
thank you in advance sir.
June 24, 2021 at 04:48
1. Anything.
2. It’s not important for DV cases.
3. See 2.
4. It is only about the processing for the SSN.
All these questions are answered in my DS260 guide.

Hi Brit!!
I’ve been selected for DV2022. My Case Number is AF49XXX. A couple of questions:
1) Do I stand a chance in the interview timeline? If so, based on your 8 years experience, on which month would you roughly guess? Note : I live in Qatar so I’ll take my Interview there.
2) Checking the reciprocity page, I do not need to bring PC or Court letter from my home country, Eritrea. Any letter I need to add to make up for that? Or shall I just forget about it and collect other PCs?
3) My certificates and High School Diploma has my surname as Mohammed while my Passport have it as Mohamed. Any issue there?
Thanks
June 24, 2021 at 04:50
1. There are many factors this year – so I’m not predicting.
2. Follow the reciprocity page instructions.
3. No
June 23, 2021 at 17:09
Hi Brit
I am DV2021 winner and my case is 21K and sent all documents. If I want to get married, what should I do? If the marriage occurs after September 30, 2021, I am allowed to add her then?
June 24, 2021 at 04:51
You should have married early – but if you marry later you will have to sponsor her through family based process (takes 2 years).
June 23, 2021 at 19:23
Hello Simon, how are you doing?
I watched Charles Kuck yesterday (iMMpactlitigation youtube) and today (his Facebook live). Both instances he mentioned he had spoken to you about number of selectees in Dv2021 and number of derivatives. Clearly he doesn’t know how that works because he said something about a fight of 130000 people for 55000 spots. Maybe he needs to get the proper explanation, such as there are denials, there is a lot of selectees who do not even fill DS-260…
Was there ever a year when they refused people because all DV visas were exhausted?
Greg just mentioned yesterday that DOS probably has some formulas in the background. I believe they expect some people won’t file DS-260 and that is why they over-select.
Appreciate all your help. Keep it up mate!
June 24, 2021 at 04:55
There have been years where too many are selected and people don’t get a chance for interview. That happens about 50% of the years. In general Greg seems to be convinced that the government calculate things pretty well – and that is certainly not true. It is correct that some people do not proceed with their cases, yes. BUT 130k selectees is too many selevctees, but of course the whole DV2021 got screwed up anyway, so the point is moot.
June 24, 2021 at 05:10
Hey Simon,
I was curious to know whether it happened in the past that people got interviews scheduled but cancelled because the cap had been reached before Sept 30th
It is clear that some years are over-selected 🙂 yet I have the impression that DOS never adjudicates the full quota (the average judge Mehta gave in Gomez is my cue)
Thanks!
June 23, 2021 at 19:49
Dear Brit,
KCC asked me in March 2021 to send scanned docs. They are still in process, but I have found a mistake on the translation. What is I re-send docs to KCC with explanation. Will it work?
I did dot see any instruction of not doing so.
June 24, 2021 at 05:16
You could do that if you want – but they probably would not even have noticed.
June 23, 2021 at 19:56
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2021AS19*** and I reside in Canada. Regarding public charge, I would like to know if it is fine to give evidence that my father in my hometown (Iran) will support me financially for traveling to US (if needed) by showing his bank statement and a notarized document. I should mention that I am a recent masters graduate and have a job to live on in Canada but I don’t have a strong statement myself. I appreciate your advice. Thank you.
June 24, 2021 at 05:17
Generally they are ONLY interested in financial support from US residents – but you can try if you want.
June 23, 2021 at 20:10
Hi Brit, thank you for all of your work.
My case number is 2021AS74xx. The data has been processed by KCC and waiting for 2NL. I have F1 visa and currently attending a college remotely from Japan. Is it possible to go back to US and proceed with Adjustment of Status instead at this point? If so, should I do so or wait patiently in Japan?
June 24, 2021 at 05:17
Technically it is possible, but you have left it very late.
June 23, 2021 at 20:56
Hi Simon
Thanks for your advices and guidelines for DS260
My case number is 2022AS***13xxx

Greetings from Singapore ! I am a DV2022 winner , case AS300XX. I was born in Thailand but have lived in Singapore my whole life. At birth, my parents had to add a prefix in front of our last name per Thai tradition. For example, my last name is chew but in my birth cert it says Sae-Chew. Will this affect my case approval? Also I know it is quite unlikely I will be able to get an interview with such a case number right? ):
Really appreciate the work you do for everyone. You give us clarity and hope. Thank you!
June 24, 2021 at 05:20
No problem on the name – the DS260 has a place where you can add additional names you have been known by.
It is too early to know anything about your chances of an interview.
June 25, 2021 at 04:50
Ok. We love you. Thanks for what you do!!
June 24, 2021 at 03:02
