Hi Brit Simon,
Hope you keep well!
Couldn’t find proper details for that so asking here if you don’t mind. I am a Case number EU00031XXX (31 thousand) and still waiting updates from the KCC. I wonder if I should be submitting my documents (Birth certs, police certs, passports, etc.) to them or first wait for a KCC to request those?
Thank you

Sorry, that’s not what I meant. I’m a dv2021 selectee already, but was not sure if it’s good to supply documents now or wait for a request
July 21, 2021 at 00:15
Well you left it crazy late – you should have sent the documents MONTHS ago. However, because of the lawsuit, you should still go ahead and do that.
July 17, 2021 at 13:42
Hi Brit, quick one.
I am from Fiji and due to covid spike the interviews are put on hold and I had done my medical. If it’s past 6 months, will I have to do my medical again?
July 18, 2021 at 04:36
Yes. Your visa expiry date will be medical date plus 6 months.

Hi, Simon!
When I was appling for DV2022 lottery I was already waitting for my new passport, which I ordered for other reasons (my old passport was still valid for almost another year (till 2021.15.09)). So right now the old passport is not valid anymore, because I have a new one, so I want to ask you which passport and passport number should I use for DS260: the old one, which I used for the application (even though it’s invalid) or the new one? Also should I send both passports after subbmiting DS260?
Thank You so much 🙂
July 17, 2021 at 17:57
Hi Laura,
I would use the valid passport and when submitting documents to KCC send also the invalid passport pic.
Generally, it is reasonable to prove you fulfilled the passport requirement when entering the lottery 🙂
Take care!
July 18, 2021 at 05:28
Send both
July 18, 2021 at 06:23
But which one should I use for DS260?
July 18, 2021 at 15:27
The valid one.
July 17, 2021 at 18:29
Hi Brit,
I’m a DV 2022 winner. I have submitted my ds260 and I’m scheduled to travel to a new country soon.
My question is, if I spend 6 months in the country I’m about to travel to before I get an interview appointment and after I have submitted documents to KCC, should I unlock my ds260 to add the new country and should I send the new police certificate to KCC or I should just take the police cert to the visa interview and explain my recent travel history.
Thank you!

Use your own judgement
July 19, 2021 at 09:34
Hi brit,
Hope you doing well.
Just a quick question about my place of marriage to put on ds260 form.
Does it has to be where we registered our marriage or we have to write wherever we got married?
Thanks
July 21, 2021 at 04:35
Use your own judgement.
July 17, 2021 at 19:02
Hello Mr. Simon: First of all, thank you for all the amazing work that you are doing. I am a DV2022 selectee Case Number: 2022SA26XX from Cuba. I would like to ask you a few questions
regarding the completing of DS-260 which I already completed:
1- I wrote “Holguin” as my Province of birth, however my birth certificate says in Place of Birth: Holguin, Oriente. And my passport says only Holguin. What should I write
in this case?
2- My bachelors certificate has my second name with an accent mark (Beatriz and Beatríz). Should I put this in my “Other names”?
July 18, 2021 at 05:25
1. Use your judgement.
2. Yes
July 18, 2021 at 18:26
Thank you for your answers Simon. As I said before I am from Cuba.
1- What happens if I ask for political asylum in US. Would that affect my DV process?
July 21, 2021 at 00:11
It could do, yes. They have recently been denying DV cases adjusting from asylum.
July 22, 2021 at 01:34
Hi Brit, also Cuban dv2022. Do you think the recent events un Cyba will affect cuban selectees in dv process.? Thank you for the amazing work
July 24, 2021 at 02:30
I don’t know.
July 17, 2021 at 21:08
Dear Simon,
I was just wondering, since I don’t have access to my email address which I gave KCC for DV2018, just incase the Rep. Meng’s Amendment #2 becomes a law, do I need to contact KCC or somewhere else and let them know that I don’t have access to that email address? Or I need to wait for now? I have asked this question, unfortunately you haven’t seen it. So could you please just let me know what should somebody who has won the lottery change or update their email address. Cheers 🙂

July 17, 2021 at 21:28
Hey BritSimon,
I’m an Aussie residing in the USA already on an E3 with my husband. I’m a selectee for DV 2022 OC1XX – I have spoken with a lawyer who recommended going back to Australia for the interview and not lodging an I-485 (AOS) form within the US because the USCIS is so backed up and the green card need to be approved by the end of fiscal year 2022. Not sure if you know this, but Australia is in lockdown, it’s very hard to get a flight there, you have to pay $4K for two people to quarantine in a hotel for 2 weeks, the flights themselves are upwards of $6K and the whole thing seems like an expensive nightmare. Wondering if you have any knowledge about submitting an I-485 as a DV selectee. I have heard the USCIS will process these faster as they know there is a time limit? I have not submitted my DS-260 yet as I’m trying to decide if it’s even worth it or not even though it seems I have a pretty low number??
Thanks for all your help so far.
July 18, 2021 at 05:29
That lawyer does not know DV cases. Do AOS
July 17, 2021 at 21:50
Hello dear Brits. I’m from Georgia, Tbilisi. DV 2021 Winner, my case number is 58**. February of 2021 I get email that our case is ready for interview. But at this moment Tbilisi embassy stuck with max case number 3600. is there any possibility to relocate our interview in other countries? Even in The USA . I’m holder of B1/B2 visa. Thank you very much
July 18, 2021 at 05:23
Too late now
July 18, 2021 at 03:04
Hello sir
Will all dv2020 remaining cases get a chance.
Or for only 9095 reserved visa will available.
July 18, 2021 at 05:19
We will see.
July 18, 2021 at 04:31
Hi sir;
DV2021 from Nepal, CN 18xx
Recently KCC scheduled more interviews for Nepal up to CN 2010+ but many cases below that number are skipped. Mostly they are couple and family. Those cases have already got doc confirmation email from KCC already on last July.
What may be the reason behind this?
Should those cases need to take any action to KCC or Consulate?
July 18, 2021 at 04:32
Hi Sir,
I won a DV-2022 and I am currently working in USA under OPT EAD. My wife also lives here with me. We want to adjust the status here in US when my visa becomes available. I have some few questions.
In the I-485 instruction form it states that both the primary and derivative applicant has to submit “Evidence that any derivative applicants were originally included in the DV lottery entry”. I wonder which document I will submit. I have only the dv2022 submission confirmation page which doesn’t have any info about the derivatives that I included in my application.
Secondly, I understand each of us(me and my wife) will have to fill I-485 separately. Do we have to mail the document together as one bundle or they have to be mailed separately? Should we have to pay the fee for the two I-485 forms? (2 x $1225)
Lastly, with your experience, when do you think our visa will be available (2022AF00046XXX)?
July 18, 2021 at 05:19
1. They have the entry.
2. one bundled. 2 fees.
3. Summer 2022.
July 18, 2021 at 07:18
Hello Simon! I’m about to start filling out the DS260, and I ran into this question – on my birth certificate it says that I was born in the town where i lived through my childhood, but I know from my parents that I was actually born in another (bigger) city, which is nearby my hometown. All my life I was stating that I was born in that bigger city, because i know that is true, but what should I write in DS260? My hometown which is stated to be the place of birth on the birth cerificate or that other city which I know I was actually born at?
Thanks!
July 18, 2021 at 15:07
Whatever place is in your passport and on your birth cert.
July 18, 2021 at 15:28
Why contradict the birth certificate, based on what you were told??
July 18, 2021 at 07:32
Hey Simon hope you are doing well. I’m DV 2022AF61××× single mom with two kids.
1- Do they need anything document from their father
2-. Yes, which document please?.
3-. Do I need to submit this together with other documents or wait till interview? Thanks.
July 18, 2021 at 15:29
1. POssibly something that shows you have full custody.
2. Depends on laws in your country – so I don’t know.
3. Interview.
July 18, 2021 at 08:16
Helo brit,
I’m DV 2020 principal applicant. My interview was cancelled on April 21.As the time pass by my wife went to work to UK on contract. So,if 9095 visa are given and my chance arrive.i can do interview in my country but can she attend interview in UK or should I call back to my country for interview.if we both can interview in different consulate what do I to make it happen.
July 18, 2021 at 15:30
You have to interview together.
July 18, 2021 at 08:20
Sir,
1) Do I have to fill my DS 260 within one day or can I fill it using few days? I mean filling some parts saving, continue to fill again on another days?
2) What does Estimated burden 155 minutes stand for in the top right corner of DS 260 ?
Thanks in advance, sir.
July 18, 2021 at 15:31
1. You can save progress and complete over several days.
2. It is about the form – the amount of time they think it would take to complete the form.
July 18, 2021 at 10:11
Hello, I would like to have information on the following points:.
1) 119,021 is the total selected (DV2022), I would like to know if there will be a second draw in October or November?
2) the rate of the number of holes (dv2022)?
3) The highest Case Number in Africa?

2. Not yet knowable
3. Not yet known.
July 18, 2021 at 19:55
I cannot express myself in English, nor understand those who are speaking. to ask you a question I have to translate. I listened to the video I did not understand anything. please summarize what you have in writing or answer my question just a few lines
July 18, 2021 at 23:47
They selected so many people that a second draw is highly unlikely. If they selected 80k, then the draw would be more likely.
With 119k, it’s probably that some people won’t even be able to get an interview. We’ll know more in January regarding holes.
July 21, 2021 at 00:17
Simple answer – no second draw.
July 18, 2021 at 10:18
I am dv 2022 winner, case: af4 ****. I take language courses (English) in a training center. can I choose student or education in the level primary occupation.?

It is doubtful that is your full time occupation.
July 18, 2021 at 20:44
No .
I finished my university studies, but not employed. I am married . as I am married, I can choose: Homemaker (being married I cook for my husband, do the laundry, cleaning the house) or not employed as primary occupation ?
Please your advice
July 18, 2021 at 10:28
How are you sir, I read the one answer where you mentioned new legislation. I would like to know what this legislation intends to do.?
What is the impact of this new legislation on the winners of DV 2020, DV 2021 and Dv2022?
July 18, 2021 at 17:17
I spoke about it a few days ago, but I will produce a dedicated video over the next few days.
July 18, 2021 at 10:59
Hi sir we just watched your video on YouTube concerning sending document.my question can one send documents whilest waiting for unlock request 2022AF38k.Thank you
July 18, 2021 at 17:18
You can, but do you NEED to?
July 18, 2021 at 11:12
Hi simon, how was your Birthday
I’m DV2022 winner. It’s about PCC for non citizens. I checked the reciprocity page, it says :
” Exceptions: Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Country. ”
My question is: 1. When I send my civil documents to KCC, should I have to write a letter explaining why I couldn’t get my PCC from another country? 2. Is there any document I should have to attach with all my civil documents that about missed PCC? . I’m confused because someone told me that if there is a missing document KCC will not process the case without informing the winner.
Thanks for your help again.
July 18, 2021 at 17:19
Send a screenshot of the reciprocity page with your documents.
July 18, 2021 at 12:21
Hi there. I’ve seen a couple of people asking if they can also apply for the DV 2023 lottery and my brother is also interested in doing so. I was checking though, I see that it says the application deadline is October 15th 2021. I just thought I would check with you as I thought it would not be open till October for a specific time frame? Has this changed or am I not on the correct website? Would you know about this to clarify please Simon?
Thank you.
July 18, 2021 at 12:53
You are probably not looking on the official website that is free for the DV lottery. It’s only open in the specific timeframe when you can apply(usually beginning of October till November). Lot of companies offer to enter DV lottery applications and they set a deadline. The exact dates will only be revealed by the US government close to when the applications begin. Don’t get fooled. There is only one official government website and it won’t be open to apply until October.
July 18, 2021 at 12:57
Ahoj Blanka,
Are you in the States already?
July 18, 2021 at 17:21
There is only one official site for the DV lottery and it is not open yet – so do NOT use any other site.
http://dvprogram.state.gov/
July 19, 2021 at 14:06
Yep, that’s what I thought. When you type in DV lottery into google, this link is the first one that shows up (https://www.dvlottery.com/). Extremely misleading. Thanks for the confirmation though. Appreciate it.
July 18, 2021 at 12:41
Hi simon, i have submitted my ds260 with my current passport the one i used for my initial registration, and i have now renewed my passport, should i send both passports to KCC?
July 18, 2021 at 17:21
Yes
July 18, 2021 at 17:39
So no for unlocking DS-260 for adding the new passport details? I can just send both of the passports naming likr S_Ahmadzai_Passport_Old.pdf & xxxxxxx_passport_New.pdf or send both in one pdf
July 21, 2021 at 00:10
You can decide.
July 18, 2021 at 13:00
Hi Simon,
I hope you are well.
One of the relief that Curtis is requesting the court to do is to issue visas to eligible plaintiffs
My question is this, can the judge in his discretion decide that visas be issued to all eligible selectees (Including non plaintiffs) for the DV2021
Thanks
July 18, 2021 at 17:22
Let’s wait and see.
July 18, 2021 at 13:34
Hallo Simon,i have a child with 11 months .Do i need to fill a separate ds 260 for her?or how do i get her ds confirmation page
July 18, 2021 at 17:23
Each person emigrating should have their own DS260, yes.
July 18, 2021 at 14:24
Brit, How strict are CO in the cases of change in facial appearance from initial entry to now ? Will change in facial appearance causes disqualification ?
July 18, 2021 at 17:24
Depends how much you changed.
July 18, 2021 at 15:36
Hi brit, I have friend with an interview schedule in Guyana (family reunification) and she does not have a visa, however she was authorized to entry cause her interview dare. Could that apply for dv winners todo? (CN: SA 6**, Cuba)
Thank you so much
July 18, 2021 at 17:30
I don’t know for certain.
July 18, 2021 at 17:11
Hi Brit,
When do you expect the last “regular” 2NL for 2021 to go out from KCC?
Thx
July 18, 2021 at 17:25
Early next month.
July 18, 2021 at 18:44
Good morning Sir , dv 2021
I am preparing my I134 , we are family from 4 persons , my sponsor gross income is about 150000 $ , it is gross not net .
1- is it enough for my family consists from 4 persons?
2- will the consulate accept this amount of gross income to give us the visas?
Thank you Sir for your help
July 21, 2021 at 00:12
1. Yes
2. Yes
July 18, 2021 at 18:53
Good morning Sir
In my ds 260 I mentioned the address which I will go to when I travel and my sponsor(I 134) is another person .
1 – is there any problem during the interview to tell the consulate that the sponsor is not the same person who will host me as mentioned in my DS?
Thank you Sir
July 21, 2021 at 00:12
No problem.
July 18, 2021 at 19:46
Hello Brit,
2022EU19xxx here,
I have already submitted my ds260 (on the day of winners announcment), and also sent documents mid-June without being asked.
After getting to know the procedure better and after hearing from you on this topic, I decided to marry my girlfriend (4 years long relationship).
We would like to get married ASAP so we can (re)send our documents ASAP to give KCC all the time in the world to process them, and since covid restrictions are still in place – our wedding would be organized without guests (just a simple dinner with our best man and maid of honor).
1) In terms of proving genuineness of the relationship, should we worry about it if we (only) have old photos, videos, and a fact that we live together with my family (proven through bills) to bring as a proof at the interview? – (no joint bank accounts, big wedding etc..)
2) Can a small, simple and private wedding celebration be a problem for the CO at the interview?
Thanks in advance!
July 21, 2021 at 00:16
The CO could be suspicious – but if you have a genuine relationship you wouldn’t do anything else…
July 18, 2021 at 20:36
Hello. I won in dv2022. CN 18xxx. I was punished for participating in a beating (2011), I was given a three-month suspended sentence for two years. Is there any chance of getting a green card?
Thank you in advance for your answer
July 21, 2021 at 00:20
Maybe. The only person who can be sure is the CO.
July 18, 2021 at 20:37
Hi Brit,
I’m asking this for a friend in Afghanistan.
He completed his bachelor’s in India and his master’s in Slovak as it’s very hard to travel to those countries for police records is it possible that KCC accept just Afghanistan police records? Thanks in advance!
July 21, 2021 at 00:21
Each person is required to provide all necessary police certs UNLESS those police certs are unavailable in a given country. That will be details on the reciprocity page for each country.
July 18, 2021 at 21:31
Hi brit,
By when can we expect the analysis videos….
July 19, 2021 at 00:38
Hello Brit. Hope you are doing well today
So I found this information on the Cameroon twitter page
“Please note that you must bring to the interview the passport (expired or valid) with which you played the DV lottery or your visa will be refused per the DV 2021 regulation.”
1. I have a case of a missing passport which I used in the innitial entry. My interview is this monthend and I wish to ask in this case what can I do ??? I have a new passport now
Waiting for your usual swift reply.
Thank you Brit.
July 21, 2021 at 02:47
You will need to give proof of why it is missing, and that it was valid at the time of entry.
July 18, 2021 at 21:32
Good day to you Simon, 2021AS38XX, interview processing
I have just watched your very recent video regarding lawsuits tmrw and wanted to ask:
Whatever decision that may come tmrw (or later), if it is beneficial to any case, will the benefits be case specific to plaintiffs only?
The reason I ask is because I didn’t join any lawsuit due to financial circumstances. However, I could go into debt by borrowing from someone but I was mislead by my embassy to think I was going to be scheduled. My embassy told me clearly that they will request KCC to send my file to them, and in the very next 2NLs batch they scheduled some 20 people but not me, and it’s been 3 months and still nothing. At that time, the signups for the lawsuits were still going on, and now since it’s the end, I regret not joining the lawsuit.
Best regards to you Simon
July 21, 2021 at 02:45
There is no way to join a lawsuit now, so do not go in to debt. Wait and see the outcome of the lawsuits.
July 18, 2021 at 22:03
Hi simon
As the selectees of nepal are 3802 for 2022
I am cn 6900, do i have any chance of getting interviewed? And is my case number considered as high?
Thank you
July 21, 2021 at 02:45
Your number is not high
July 18, 2021 at 23:15
Dear Mr. Brit ,
hope you are okay!
I’m DV 2022 winners , I did mistake in initial entry registration first time as I filled wrongly home address which is not matched my address in my passport.
Is that okay ? even i did mistake to filled in home address wrongly.
Should I correct this mistake in DS 260 ?
Thank you
July 21, 2021 at 02:45
No problem. Put the accurate address in the DS260
July 19, 2021 at 00:38
Hi Brit.Hope you are safe and Healthy. My question is regarding Police clearance certificate in Japan.I read on document reciprocity that the certificate is considered invalid if i open the seal. The similar instruction is given to me by Police department. How can i send scanned copy without opening it, should i bring the same (opened) certificate at interview or should i anyway opened it and apply again at later time?
July 19, 2021 at 01:28
Addition to my question above. It is written at the document reciprocity page that I should not open the Police certificate and send the scanned copy of the envelope to NVC. I am not sure about the KCC. Please let me know
July 21, 2021 at 02:47
You can send a photocopy/photo of the sealed envelope.
July 21, 2021 at 04:23
Thank you for clarification.
Best wishes
July 19, 2021 at 02:27
Hi Simon,
Thank you so much for your immense guidance.
I’m a DV2022 winner and I have submitted the DS-260 of myself and the derivative (spouse) on May 2021.
There I have filled my wife’s full name with my name as last name. But before marriage, she has used her father’s name as last name. There is no change in her name and it’s similar in all documents.
We haven’t mentioned this in other names.
Do we need to mention her previous full name with her father’s name in ‘other names’ section?
Is it necessary to unlock DS-260 for this change?
Please advise. Thanks in advance
July 21, 2021 at 02:48
Yes she should mention the maiden name.
July 19, 2021 at 02:34
I am a selectee DV2022OC16xx and not sure I will be able to apply given the historical cut off number. However I noticed in the website you introduce us on YouTube, there were ppl in 2021 with higher than cut off number who were issued visa. That doesn’t seem fair!!!
July 21, 2021 at 02:49
You are confused about what current means. Relax.
July 19, 2021 at 02:51
Hi Brit,
I’m sponsoring family of 3 (DV 2021, interview around mid August) and I have family of 3 here in US , my tax return for 2020 annual gross income is enough for sponsoring family of 6 member but the issue is part of that income is from my wife’s unemployment benefit . I read unemployment benefit money is not considered as income for sponsorship. If I exclude or deduct that unemployment amount from total gross income , I’m about 400$ short of required amount for sponsoring family of 6 ( per I-864 2021 HHS poverty guidelines).
Is it still Ok to sponsor?
Please suggest.
Thank you
Sam
July 19, 2021 at 18:38
Actually, my 2020 W2 income shows 5k more than federal poverty level for family of 6.That is my individual income not family. But it’s below 125% federal poverty requirement. Does it need to be above 125% or above 100% poverty level is fine?
Thank you.
July 21, 2021 at 04:51
It’s 100%
July 21, 2021 at 02:50
The selectee should get another sponsor.
July 21, 2021 at 13:37
Hi,
Sorry, let me ask with clear figures one more time.
My W2 income for last year 2020 shows income amount – 40k
Current employment letter from office which matches current pay check which shows
annual income-46k for 2021( total annual amount for form I-134 )
Bank savings -26k
Federal poverty guidelines for family of 6 – 35580
Is it ok to sponsor? If not I’ll tell them to find other sponsor.
Appreciate your help.

Hello Brit. I have my sister as an Algerian selectee of 2021 DV lottery with CN AF48XXX. She submitted her DS-260 in June 2020 but she still hasn’t received any email to send documents. Do you think there will be any chances if she sends documents now considering that there is a minimal time left to possibly have her case processed or securing an interview?
July 21, 2021 at 02:51
No chance by the normal end date, but given the lawsuit she should send documents anyway.

Hi Brit
Thanks for your prompt support, please let me know what shall i do at this moment, in the email mentioned
”
You should review the list of required documents for processing below and send those to KCC to review as part of your application package, along with completing your DS-260. You will only be scheduled for interview at an overseas consular post after you have completed your DS-260 and submitted all documents required for your case and your visa rank number has become current.”
Shall i send again documents to KCC , and is there any order to be sent the document, one more question what does it mean by the along with completing DS260,, that means do i need to fill again the DS260 or what.

hey Brit. I would like to thank you so much for your unending support throughout the fiscal year. Your help has been doing wonders in helping me calm down and understand this whole process. your explanations are simple and straight forward, any layman can understand. I followed through all your blogs, and Q & A sessions on Youtube, and trust me, your effort never goes unnoticed. I had my interview In Zimbabwe, and it went swiftly, thanks to all your guidance. I would like to share my experience. Once again, thank you so much.

Hello Brit,
Firstible, Thank you so much for all your help.
I would like to consult with you.
I got the green card 3 years ago. When I got it, I stayed in America 4 months and than I left to my country for 5 months and than I back to USA for 1 year. After that I left for 5 months to my country and than, I arrived to USA for 2 weeks and than I left again for 5.5 months and than when I arrived the officer asked me questions why I’m not living here, I explained him that it is because of the COVID. He told me that now it’s will be fine, but not to do it again (in all the last year I been here only around one month total in 2 visits) now after two weeks that I’m here, I need to back to my country for around one month. Do you think that it is dangerous and I can lose my GC because of that? I’m afraid to fly for 1 month.
Please answer to me.
Thank you so much!!

Hi Brit
I am a DV 2021 winner and have been scheduled for an interview recently. But my sponsor had recently sposnored his father in law and mother in law. Will that affect my DV case if he meets the poverty guidlines. Is there any limit to sposnor within fixed period of time ( say in a month) ?

The risk is mostly based on activity at the embassy – but there is of course some risk – and why add risk?

Hello Brit!
I am a DV 2021 winner. I have submitted my DS260 and scanned copies of documents and now I am waiting for the interview. Currently I have a job, but I want to leave. Can the fact of leaving a job influence the desicion making of giving me a visa durin the interview? Should I wait or I can leave?
Thank you,
L

I think Brit Simon has golden heart and endless patience 🙂
It would take you less time to find that information on Google than time you spent typing this question.
Immigrant visa holders are not subject to entry bans
July 21, 2021 at 04:36
You are exempt from that ban.

Hi,
I am from Madagascar. I have not submitted the ds-260 form yet. The reason is that I am planning to travel to South
Africa as soon as flights from Madagascar resume, so I am not yet sure where to take interview.
Is it too late if I wait a while to submit the form?
What do you advise for my case?
My case number is: 2022AF00028XXX
Thanks and Best regards,
Dimby
