Hey BritSimon
If someone didn’t fill travel history in ds260 and his passport contains travel history,Is ds260 must to unlock to mention travel history
July 28, 2021 at 16:37
Dear BritSimon,
I am dv2021 winner from Iran
I think I have made a mistake when I was signing up for DV lottery back in 2019
Need your help regarding my case but cannot ask my questions in your blog as it contains sensitive personal information
I’d appreciate if you let me contact you via email
July 29, 2021 at 16:09
You don’t need to include personal info.
July 28, 2021 at 17:05
Dear Sir,
According to your knowledge has any DV2022 winner who submitted his/her DS 260, received any email from KCC asking to send documents yet?
Thanks a lot in advance.
July 29, 2021 at 16:11
I don’t know of any such cases.
July 30, 2021 at 10:18
Thank you Sir.

Hi BritSimon,
Thanks for your work!
My question is regarding the marriage during the process.
I have just submitted my DS260, as a single man. I want to take my GF with me, but I was afraid that if I wait for the marriage process I will lose available time, so I applied because I saw I can call KCC to re-open my DS260.
My question is, does the re-opening “lose” my place in the processing queue? Are my chances of actually getting processed same weather I re-open or not.
Thank you!
July 29, 2021 at 16:12
Your place is your case number – at least for now. So – get married and add her.
August 16, 2021 at 08:46
Thanks Brit,
Also my number is 25K Europe, that shouldn’t be a problem right? I fear it is a bit too high.
August 18, 2021 at 02:04
There will be impacts from Covid, so it is not possible to predict anything.

Hello Brit,
Am DV 2022 winner AF15000. My hubby adopted my daughter the approval court order came out in December 2020 after the Dv entry. We have the adoption certificate and the new birth certificate. During the submission of the Ds 260 form I filled my daughters name(as per her old birth certificate) the same way I had during the initial DV entry application in October 2020. Kindly note that my daughter also has a passport but with the names as per her old birth certificate.
My question is, during document submission should I include my daughters old birth certificate, adoption certificate, court order approval for adoption and her new birth certificate or should I just submit her old birth certificate and during interview I go with the adoption documents.
Please advice.
Thank you
July 29, 2021 at 16:17
You are being a bit unclear. If you are married then your child is your husband’s step child. Adoption should not be necessary. However, if adoption is to be used in the US immigration process, the adoption must have been completed 2 years before the interview.
So – make yourself more clear.
August 1, 2021 at 22:30
Hey Brit,
I am married. My husband is not the biological father to my first born daughter. In her birth certificate I did not indicate the father’s name at that time when applying for the birth certificate. Will be I be required to get a consent letter from the biological father when going to the embassy as much as I never indicated his name on her birth certificate? Her last name is my surname too.
My husband is ready to give her his last name through the adoption process.
Thanks
August 2, 2021 at 04:41
You may need that, or proof that you have full custody.
July 28, 2021 at 19:34
Hello Brit,
I had my interview today and fortunately my visa is approved. I want to thank you for this platform you have created to assit DV applicants. Aside the official guidelines, I relied solely on the information provided on your website to process my application.
It was a quick process, the actual interview lasted less than 3 minutes but I had to wait for about an hour and half for my turn. The CO only requested for basic documents ( Passport, Birth Cert, Police Cert (Country of origin and country of residence), Proof of Education) I had form I-134 and my bank statments with me but they did not ask for any of them.
Once again, thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Brit,
I’m DV2021 winner and I got a support document request mail on 27th July 2021. After that, I got a passport for my new born son (3 months old). I requested to unlock my DS260 and how can i know when they unlock my DS260?
July 29, 2021 at 16:21
They will email you when they have unlocked, but you can also just log in and check the form.
July 28, 2021 at 20:30
Hello,
I would like to ask what do i have to enter in the space where the ID invoice number should be written if i don’t have one? What is this ID invoice number? Thank you in advance.
July 29, 2021 at 16:59
Where? Be clear.
July 28, 2021 at 21:48
Hi Brit , i’m DV 22 winner 42K, in Algeria we don’t have a police Certificate documente , but we do have the Court and prison records delivered by the minister of justice , i want to email my documents to KCC but i don’t know how to do to justifie the absence of the police certificate ?
July 29, 2021 at 18:31
Your documents should match what the reciprocity page says is available or not.
July 30, 2021 at 23:17
thank you Brit,
so from the reciprocity page for Algerians i understand that the police certificate and the court records are the same document , so in order to send my docs to kcc, can you orient me how to name this two documents ( police certificate and the court records) knowing that for the algerians is only one same document ?
THANK YOU AGAIN SIR FOR BEING HELPFUL
July 31, 2021 at 06:33
In Algeria, If you have a clean police certificate (casier judiciaire), you wouldn’t need court records.
August 1, 2021 at 23:40
Thank you bro
August 2, 2021 at 04:14
Use your judgement.
July 28, 2021 at 22:03
Hello Brit
Is ready for scheduling email (our records indicate you are now ready for scheduling once you cn become current you shall receive email ..etc)
Same as
“You case is now current for interview once an appointment has been scheduled ..we can’t unlock you ds contact your embassy”?
Do they have the same meaning ?
can a person stay rfs but without receiving the 2nd email ?or once you are rfs whenever you send them an email they will reply with the 2nd email?
July 29, 2021 at 18:33
The “current” email is important, it means they are trying to schedule you, and now only relies on embassy capacity/your position in line based on when you became DQ.
July 28, 2021 at 23:25
Hello Mr. Brit, hope you doing well…
Thank you for your guidelines…
Please I just finish my interview without my wife… I’m done with the interview.. It was smoothly… But I have been place on AP… I showed them pictures at our court marriage when I was asked to…with my marriage certificate… But the CO asked me to send more pictures of my spouse and I aside marriage pictures through DHL.. My paasport and photocopies of my documents are with the embassy.. I was giving a FORM where by she ticked the first option, that is the Administratibg process and also given the visa and passport collecting form clipped together with the A4 sheet form.
Please what do you think of this…?
July 29, 2021 at 18:44
That’s OK – provide the additional things they asked for.
August 1, 2021 at 19:23
Hi Eric, I would like to know more about you mean by doing an interview without your wife ? Is it that your wife is not in the same country with you ?
Mr. Brit, is it possible for a couple to have an interview in 2 different embassy locations ?
August 2, 2021 at 04:37
No
July 29, 2021 at 02:43
Hello,
My husband is a winner of dv2021, we had our interview and a visa was approved for both of us on June 2021.
We want to buy our plane tickets and go to USA as soon as possible, considering that in November the medical exams and the visa will expire. We are subject to any restrictions or we can buy our plane tickets and leave without any problems before they expire? I don’t understand if the ban affects us or not.
Thank you for all! You’ve been very helpful to us throughout this process!
July 29, 2021 at 07:36
Please what is your country?and did you show financial statements or affidavit of support during the interview?
July 29, 2021 at 02:50
Greetings Brit. Thanks so much for the help all throughout. I had a successful Interview and visa was granted. Definitely working on my experience will soon post on the website.
My question is I had a new address since the temporal ds260 address and during my interview I was expecting the CO to ask me if I wanted to change my address but he didnt and at the end i didnt change it.
What can I do to rectify that. ???
July 29, 2021 at 07:29
Hi
Please which country are you from?
What documents were requested during the interview?
Was I-134 form or bank statement/proof of support requested?
Thanks for your feedback
July 29, 2021 at 06:08
Hi Brit Simon,
Hope this finds you well. Iam DV 2022 selectee CN AF28K from Uganda. I have already submitted my civil documents with those of my derivatives, however, my country Police -Interpol Department gave me both Certificate of Good Conduct and Police Clearance Certificate and I submitted only the Certificate of Good Conduct to KCC.
QN. Should I resubmit documents again to KCC with both PCC and Certificate of Good Conduct or the Good certificate I submitted is fine?
Your response will be highly appreciated. Best Regards!
July 29, 2021 at 07:32
Please did you receive request for documents mail from kcc?
July 29, 2021 at 07:32
Halo Noah am also from Uganda dv 2022.i don’t think whether u need to send the police clearance……
July 29, 2021 at 08:32
Dear Simon,
It’s been nearly a month now since I submitted the DS260 for my family. No email from KCC yet, requesting documentation. But I’ve just re-read the initial confirmation email, and it says: “You must follow the instructions on the confirmation page in order for the U.S. Department of State to continue processing your visa application.” This sentence sounds like I have to do something else before the U.S. Department of State continues processing my case. However, the instructions on the confirmation page merely tell me to 1) Obtain required supporting civil documents (I already have them all prepared), 2) Obtain photographs (I can do that anytime), 3) Review the embassy-related information (I’ve checked that, too). And then the text says “You do not need to submit any documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.” So, basically, the message sounds like I need to wait patiently until further notice. But then again – how am I to inform the U.S. authorities that I’ve followed the instructions so that they’ll continue processing my case?
Regards.
July 31, 2021 at 21:17
in mine it is also written ” You do not need to submit any documents to KCC”. Does this apply to everyone or what?
August 2, 2021 at 04:21
SEND. THE. DOCUMENTS.
August 2, 2021 at 06:51
Even without receiving the email from KCC requesting them?
July 29, 2021 at 08:49
Dear Simon,
For some reason, I’ve been postponing my family’s Covid vaccination, believing it would be best to hear from the local US-designated medical examiner (when we reach that phase) as to what vaccine is officially accepted in the USA. The post-Soviet country we are currently in only offers AstraZeneca, Russian “Sputnik V”, and Chinese “CoronaVac”. I’ve heard that many countries do not accept these vaccines, so I’m not sure whether or not either of the mentioned ones will be accepted in the States. How do I go about this? Am I right in deciding to wait until the US-designated medical examiner’s recommendation? Or is there an official list of US-accepted vaccines out there so that we go ahead and get vaccinated now?
Regards.
July 29, 2021 at 09:01
Dear Simon,
The final question for today. A quick one.
On the submitted DS260, I already named the countries I have previously been to. What if I need to travel to another country (for a short-term vacation or business-related purposes) before the embassy interview? Will I need to unlock my DS260 to update my travel history info before the interview? Or can I just wait until the interview to verbally inform the officer that I’ve travelled during this recent period?
Regards.
July 29, 2021 at 12:23
Representatives Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and Judy Chu (D-CA) have introduced the Keeping Our Promise Act (H.R. 3584) to allow diversity visa winners to maintain their eligibility and secure the green cards as authorized by Congress.
I’ve read this on a US News portal, please is it the same as the main amendment ??
July 29, 2021 at 13:19
Shalom! Brit Simon
I am of DV2021. CN: AF46***. I had a police certificate on Feb 2 2021 from Russia where I have been studying. What Should I do if my interview goes beyond Feb 2 2022, as police certificate expires in 12 months and I will not be in Russia by that time?
Thank you in Advance!
July 29, 2021 at 15:29
For the purpose of immigration, the PC is considered valid for 2 years although it has a short validity period locally.

Dear Simon
I always appreciate your help!
any News regarding the the Dv winners with out Passport entrants for 2022, any person who got through?

July 29, 2021 at 15:35
Hi Simon,
Honest question, why do you suggest DV22 selectees send their docs already without the request email? Isn’t that going to cause a mess in the KCC inbox again? Can at least the high case numbers wait for a few months before sending the docs? Geniunely wondering.
Thx
July 29, 2021 at 18:17
Hi, got a reply from KCC that further documents are required. According to the list of docs I sent everything correctly and with the right size. I will re-send it again(4th time). Anyone got similar reply and what did you send. Thank you,
July 30, 2021 at 19:26
Some people were getting the further documents email for a while – and it did not seem to make sense.
July 29, 2021 at 18:59
DV 2021 “winner” here (EU28k). I resubmitted my documents last week with leading zeros in the title. Now suddenly I get a request to send documents (I think it’s the normal email). Does that mean anything? Shall I resubmit documents again? (I now see I used a sightly different naming scheme for the documents than the one suggested in the email; however I submitted documents twice already earlier). Thanks Simon in advance.
July 29, 2021 at 19:18
Hi, I got the same email today EU27k. I sent docs three times already and will send them again. Looks like the group sending emails doesn’t talk to the group handling docs. I am a simple case as I am single with no kids. I think all we can do is re-send and make sure it’s the right format.
July 30, 2021 at 19:27
It’s really too late for the “normal” year. However, the lawsuit could revive some hope – so do whatever you think is best in your case.
July 29, 2021 at 19:53
Hey BritSimon
If couples didn’t fill travel history in their ds260 and their passport contains travel history 3 month ,Is ds260 must to unlock to mention travel history pls answer ?
July 30, 2021 at 19:28
You are supposed to answer the questions. If you didn’t do that, correct it.
July 29, 2021 at 21:38
Hello Simon,
I’m a DV 2021 winner and was invited for an interview (G-56 call in notice) for next month. I’ve been asked to submit a number of documents on the day of the interview, and I have a few questions;
1. In one of the items on the checklist for documents needed, it says, “If you have ever been arrested, bring the related police report and certified final court disposition…..” As someone who’s never been arrested, would I still need to provide a police report or some other proof, despite having no prior criminal record?
2. “A certified English translation for each foreign language document. The translator must certify that s/he is fluent in both languages…..” Would I still need to provide proof for this even for someone like me who only speaks English as an international language and has only English documents?
3. When they say “I-693 forms are valid for one year” do they mean that the edition of the form is valid till the next change after a year elapses, or do they mean that the results indicated within my completed form are valid for one year?
I realize some of these questions might be rhetorical but would appreciate if you could kindly elucidate on these points. Thank you.
Cheers.
Abraham
July 30, 2021 at 01:50
I forgot to mention that I applied for adjustment of status since I’m in the States already.
July 30, 2021 at 19:37
Sorry – but you obviously know these questions are a waste of my time.
1. Come on. The sentence starts with “If”.
2. Come on. Just read it.
3. It means what it says.
Please respect my time.
July 29, 2021 at 22:15
Hi Brit,
Hope this finds you well. I’m a DV2022 winner, 2022OC15XX. I submitted DS260 form on July 26 however I made a mistake in regards to marriage registration number instead of the registration number I wrote the leaf number. I requested for unlocking on July 27.
Question- 1. Does that reduce my chances of further processing?
2. Can the registration number be changed at the interview if KCC doesn’t unlock the form?
3. Can I submit the documents without KCC email request before the unlocking of the form?
July 30, 2021 at 19:38
1. No
2. Yes
3. Yes
July 30, 2021 at 20:34
Just few more questions.
1. How do I know which documents to submit?
2. Which address do i submit my documents to after when I have submitted my online DS-260 form since the KCC has not sent me any confirmation email after my submission of DS-260 Form.
3. Does my case no. 2022OC15xx for the region make me less chance of qualifying?

Hello Brit
I’m a Dv 2022 selectee and Kcc just unlocked my ds260. Case number 2022AF32xxx . Submitted unlock request May 18th following your video which you posted about ds260 unlock
July 30, 2021 at 02:36
Hi Brit,
Question – Whom should be addressed in the police clearance report? Is it KCC or US embassy of the particular country?
July 30, 2021 at 19:39
It doesn’t matter.
July 30, 2021 at 09:47
Hi Brits, I’m a DV21 winner and got interview scheduled for 30th August. If we get a positive response from judge Mehta and if he ask to prioritize the 9095 visas would my interview get affected? Would the embassy cancel my interview and prioritize 2020 instead?
July 30, 2021 at 19:43
I don’t know.
July 30, 2021 at 11:21
Good day Brit.
South Africa is currently on Lockdown Level 3 and one of the restrictions is that we can only renew passports when we are moved to Level 2. We have no idea when this will be and that means my sister-in-law might not have a valid passport when the Lottery opens in October. Would the lockdown levels be a valid reason to apply with an expired passport and correct on the DS260 and not be rejected at interview? (Assuming she is lucky enough to be selected for DV2023, of course)
July 30, 2021 at 19:46
No. That is not a valid excuse.
July 30, 2021 at 15:17
Hi Simon,
I’m 2021OC13XX.
I recently had my interview cancelled in Sydney due to the current lockdown orders.
I have an offer of admission from a university starting Fall 2021 (Aug. 30) and wanted to know if this could be used as a valid reason (urgent need to travel immediately) to request an emergency appointment for my DV interview.
I wanted to know if you knew of any cases that were able to “expedite” their (cancelled) DV interview due to an urgent matter.
Would like to know your thoughts.
Thanks!
July 30, 2021 at 19:51
No.
July 30, 2021 at 18:35
Hi Simon,
I’m 2022AS10k
In my unlock request sent around 2 months ago, I wrote my birth date as the main applicant (along with my case number) but for my derivatives, I didn’t include their birth date… only their names
Will that cause serious problem?
Should I send another email?
Thank you for your time
July 30, 2021 at 19:52
No problem.
July 30, 2021 at 19:26
Hello, Brit,
I wanted to ask how do i have to put in order the addresses i have lived in. If i lived in a city in Bulgaria and then went to the US with a j1 visa, do i have to write it down separately?
Thank you!
I appreciate it!
July 30, 2021 at 21:10

August 2, 2021 at 04:07
1. I don’t know.
2. I don’t know.
July 30, 2021 at 21:25
Hi Brit
I was drawn in Dv2022, cn 18xxx.
I did not know about this before that this is a problem when applying for a green card. But in 2012, I was sentenced to 3 months suspended for 2 years for beating. In Poland, this judgment has already been canceled. In the meantime, I finished my studies and work as a teacher, I have a wife and children.
Is there any chance that I will get a green card during an interview at the embassy?
Thank you for your response.

Hi good day to you
I have received “interview processing” email from KCC 4 times in the last 3 months and the embassy also clearly stated to me that they will request for my case to be sent to them. I think that the coming Monday and tuesday (maybe Wednesday) will be the last 2/3 days that KCC will schedule.
Is there anything else I can do since I’m basically at the very end of the stage? As I understand interview processing comes after RFS, sorry if I’m wrong
I have emailed the embassy 3 times in the last two months but no reply
Thank you

Nothing you can do.
July 30, 2021 at 22:42
Hi Brit,
I hope you remember me. We were in touch a couple of times earlier on your blog. We Are The Come Back Kings and a huge fan/supporter of yours! Our case number was 2020EU33XXX, and we were in group 3. It seemed like we had no chance of receiving our Green cards, but thanks to your fantastic guidance, at the very last moment, we had our interview on September 22nd. Then, we waited for PP 10199 to be over and immediately afterwards we flew to CA in Feb 2021. Here we are now! Living happily after in beautiful LA.
Things are going well, thanks God and to you! We came with enough of financial support that at this moment we are not that stressed about being unemployed. However, the health insurance is becoming an issue for us. Since both I and my wife are in low income status, I have applied for the Covered California, Medicaid health insurance. It seems like we are qualified for the approval. It’s probably because I kept my social security number and the credit history for the past twenty years although I have not paid any tax for the last 10 years. I’ve submitted my tax returns, so no worries on that side. As for our Medicaid insurance, I have not finalized our applications because I am concerned about doing something wrong. I am worried that we will be charged as public burden or we will misuse our LPR status.
So my question to you is this:
1-Can I apply for Medicaid?
2-If the answer is no, have I created an unlawful situation by applying for it?
3-If the answer is yes, even I still haven’t submitted our final documents, are we in deep trouble to call an immigration lawyer?
I am stressed. I appreciate your answer.
We love you. You are such a decent human being.
P.S. We loved to invite you&your family for a Barbecue on Sunday to our house.
August 2, 2021 at 04:13
1. I don’t know – it’s not my area of expertise.
2. No
3. No need to worry.
I love BBQ!

Can we apply for Medicaid? Our kids are 4 and 6. And we are both unemployed for now. We have enough savings to support ourselves.

Hi Brit,
It has been 60 days since I sent an “Unlock Request” to KCC-(I received an auto response), I’m yet to receive a reply. Can this be a possible oversight or can I send another email since they’re not picking calls?
Will appreciate your advice in this regard.
August 2, 2021 at 04:14
Try again.
August 4, 2021 at 19:35
Finally, I got my “Unlock” request granted after 63 days.

Hi Mr Simon.
from May I am trying to transfer my case from Moscow ( the embassy is closed ) to Algeria ( I have citizenship), but without success. the US embassy in Algiers are not accepting ( because of Covid, limited services, and so on) and sending me back to KCC( the are not replying now to me)
Algiers should accept my case as per FAM 504.4-8(B)b
could you give advice?
thank you for your time
August 2, 2021 at 04:18
There is nothing you can do if Algiers will not accept your case.

Hi brit,
DV2021 Af387**
Goodluck plaintiff.
Could we see a progress on our cases which are not DQ till now, if judge Mehta give an decision to adjudicate our cases as plaintiff?

Hi Brit,
Observed that you have recently mentioned in your videos that police certificates validity become 2 years. We know that police certificates are normally valid for one year. Is there any reference for the 2 year validity or there is a misunderstanding at my end? Kindly clarify.
Thanks

I had been to 6 schools.
School A – passed Grade 1
School B – passed Grade 2
School C – passed Grade 3
School D – passed Grade 4 & 5
School E – passed Grade 6
School F – * passed Grade 7 – 13
* passed GCE A/L
* passed GCE O/L
I passed General Certificate of Education – Advanced Level and Ordinary Level examination (GCE A/L & GCE O/L) when I was at School “F”.
My question is,
What should I write to
Degree,Diploma or Certificate Received for School “F” and School “E”???
I’m highly grateful for your assistance, dear sir.

Hi I got picked in the DV lottery for 2022 and my number is OC000010** . Based on previous cutoffs I’m pretty confident my number will become sometime next year. Now some background about me, I’m an Australian citizen working in US with H1b visa. So I will be applying for AOS while staying in US. My spouse is in US as well with expired B2 visa and has applied for cos to H4. I have checked with my attorney that it’s legal to stay in US while her application status is pending. But I have heard that currently cos is taking pretty long time due to COVID(she might get her’s sometime around March April ‘22). So I’m curious to know if I apply for AOS while my spouse is in this limbo, will it have any negative implication on our application?

One must be in status when applying for AOS.

My country (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Latvia.html) provides a police certificate in a sealed envelope. The reciprocity page says “Applicants must bring the original Police Certificate in the sealed envelope to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate at the time of their interview.” The instruction page on travel.gov says “If you cannot obtain a police certificate for another reason, please submit a written explanation when you submit your other documents.”.
When I am asked to send my b.. eautiful documents, should I explain that it is in a sealed package due to which I won’t be able to scan it (to provide a digital copy)? I would also mention that I would bring the sealed document in the interview instead.
Thanks, Simon.

As always thank you for your work !
I am currently in need to change my sponsor.
My case is in US Embassy and have been scheduled for an interview.
My previous sponsor is not responding and wouldn’t send me the required documents. I have a new sponsor.
Do I need to inform the Embassy stating my change in sponsor or do I take new sponsor’s documents directly to the Embassy? If I state my change will the interview date change or postpone? Will I be disqualified for this ? What should I do?

Just take the new details to the interview. It’s no problem.

Hi brit
I got married(legally, wedding had to be postponed due to covid restrictions and still living in parents’ addresses)few days after dv 2022 results was announced as
I wanted to include my spouse’s details to ds260,and gave our parents’addresses as(being legally married couple gave two disctint addresses)current addresses.
we are hoping to hold our wedding function in this September and after wedding hope to come to one address.
So,Should I unlock my ds 260 and change our current addresses after our wedding?
If I unlock it,Will I affect toward my chances of getting an interview as there is a huge backlog?
If I don’t unlock will It be an issue when we are interviwed as being legally married living in two address?
case number 2022AS13XXX.
Thank you

NUMBER QUESTIONS.
1. Yes
2. No
3. Stop overthinking.
August 2, 2021 at 07:08
1.As I have heard it would take like moths for the KCC to unlock Ds 260 under prevailing condition.is it true?
(Some people who recently made this request says Thier ds260 hasn’t been unlocked yet)
2.If two addresses not gonna be a big issue,am I good to go with the current dsb260?
3.if I may proceed without unlocking, can I explain why I didn’t unlock and why I had to give two address in the interview.
reason why I’m asking this repeatedly is that I’m worried it would cost my visa.
Sorry If I bothered you.
Thanks

It’s just silly to add that risk. Your choice.
