HI dear Brit, 3 questions for you:
1. if main applicant wants to make a change in the DS260 of a derivative and unlocks the DS260 of this derivative, does it mean the case of the main applicant will also be on hold, or only the derivative’s?
2. If main applicant submits DS260 for children, but later decide that children will not immigrate with him, can he unlock DS260s for the children and not resubmit? So the cases of the children will be uncomplete. And KCC will process only the main applicant’s DS260. Is this possible? Because there is no way to remove or delete the derivatives. And KCC responded to his request to remove derivates that there is no remove or delete, the only way of making changes is unlock the case.
3. If he submits the DS260 of children and mention they are not immigrating, will KCC still wait for scanned documents of the children? This person does not have access to his children’s documents.
September 17, 2021 at 00:28
1. I’m not sure there is a way to measure that, because any unlock should be short term.
2. You could leave them unlocked, but the main thing would be to explain to KCC to make sure they know what you want to do.
3. See 2
September 18, 2021 at 14:02
Sir
1. Do you think leaving a derivative ds260 would be wise in cases like this ?
2. I sent an explanation to kcc asked not to process my derivatives DS-260s . Got an automated replay . Would that be enough . Do I need to send my explanation again ?
3 . In this case should I send my documents or wait for kcc instructions if they would send any .
Please I would really appreciate ur advice..

Hello Brit,
Greetings, I am coming back to say thank you very much for the guidance you gave me and my family during our DV 2020 process. I don’t regret ever know you through this your website because you did a wonderful job of giving out information and helping people to clear their worries. YOU DO ALL THIS FOR FREE me and my family ie family of four (04) husband, wife and two kids traveled from Cameroon Africa on March 6th 2021 and entered the USA on March 7th 2021. We are now Lawful Permanent Residents of the USA. On behalf of my family, we don’t have anything to give you as appreciation but we acknowledge your good work and we say THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
September 17, 2021 at 00:29
Congratulations and welcome to the USA. Best of luck!!
September 13, 2021 at 03:28
Hi brits!
Will KCC notify me if I am not DQ?
Thank you
September 16, 2021 at 13:27
Hi
I received my diversity visa but my given name and surname was swapped. My question is this a problem or I can travel to USA with the same visa ? Please kindly advice and suggest.
Much thanks
September 17, 2021 at 05:23
As the embassy to fix it.
September 17, 2021 at 00:35
They send a “ready for scheduling” email to cases when they become DQ.
September 13, 2021 at 03:52
Hi Brit how are you?
my Q in short is
can you tell me how many visas issued and how many visas are left?
in dv 2021
September 16, 2021 at 16:20
I’m also from Ethiopia i can update you anything
September 17, 2021 at 00:36
Less than 12,000 have been issued thus far, almost 55,000 are available.
September 13, 2021 at 03:58
Hello sir i would like to ask i m living different country with my work visa but i want have interview in my homecountry Can i mention my current address to my homecountry address ? However i m not in my country
Can cause any problem?
Thank you very much
September 17, 2021 at 00:37
Normally interviews are based on current address. If you are abroad, but have reason to want to be interviewed in your home country you would normally email KCC to ask for that.
September 13, 2021 at 06:34
my interview finish and they took my passport saying your case on pending what does it mean can i get my visa they didnot give me anything to fill up.
September 17, 2021 at 00:38
You have to wait for their decision.
September 13, 2021 at 08:48
I have my interview today and they said your case is not rejected and take passport and says we will inform you. does it means my visa is approved or what. but in ceac it shows refused even before my interview time.
September 17, 2021 at 00:40
It means they are considering your case and you need to wait.
September 13, 2021 at 08:51
Dear Brits, I sought your advice once and sent an email in mid of Aug’21 to the Embassy for my case under AP for more than 3 months. As a result, the Embassy could not give a specific date to complete the review process. DV21 concludes by end of Sep’21. The Embassy maybe let my case expire, no update until now. Any advices, please?
Thanks Brits for your help.
September 17, 2021 at 00:40
Ask them again in the next few days.
September 17, 2021 at 06:58
Hi Brit,
I have just received reply:
They said they are sensitive to the DV program deadline, but they are still not able to give a specific date to complete the AP.
From Embassy :
While we cannot predict when the processing of your visa will be completed, please be assured that we are aware of your concerns and will do all we can to see that the application is adjudicated as soon as administrative processing of your case has been completed
Finally, they expressed a regret and the info shared is helpful for me. I think it will be difficult to complete the AP before Sep 30 based on the reply. Is there any lawsuit to cover the DV21 under AP?
Thank Brit for your help.
September 17, 2021 at 13:54
No.
September 13, 2021 at 09:00
Hi Mate.
Because of your beautiful work there are thousands of people who wake up everyday with hope. Even someone like me with high (EU34xxx) case number.
From last year experience (DV20), most probably judge Metah will reserve another 10000 cases for DV21 too. And we know cases which are already qualified will be the KCC’s target. Many won’t have the chance and it’s a shame.
You are in direct contact with lawyers, can you at least talk with them to convince judge to save more cases for DV21?
It will be possible IF ONLY KCC hire more staff, anyways they have to work on 3 different series of DV20-22-22 this year.
Any do you have any idea how many People are documentary qualified for DV21 so far?
And can I resend my documents to KCC?
September 17, 2021 at 00:41
The lawyers are already asking for the highest possible number of visas to be reserved.
There are well over 20k people DQ.
September 13, 2021 at 09:30
Hi Simon,
Thank you for all your efforts! Had a couple of questions that I wanted to ask regarding DV2021.
1. If the Judge decides to reserve visas for issuance past the Sept. 30 deadline, do you think those whose interviews were initially scheduled but later cancelled (due to lockdowns etc.) would be “prioritized”?
2. Do you think that the Judge could end up reserving more visas than what we saw for DV2020 (9095)? Reserving more 40,000 visas for DV2021 would of course be an amazing outcome.
3. Will you be updating the FAQ regarding the DV2021 lawsuits? I can only see information for the DV2020 lawsuits so any FAQ updates reflecting the recent lawsuits would be very beneficial.
Thank you!
September 17, 2021 at 00:42
It’s all speculation as to what the Judge will decide. Wait and see.
September 13, 2021 at 10:00
Hi Brit,
Can someone else other than my host be my sponsor?
September 13, 2021 at 19:09

What happened to Sri Lanka DV 21 Interviews, is it going on or not
September 17, 2021 at 00:42
I believe they are restarting.
September 13, 2021 at 10:47
Hello Dear simon
I have tried to forward my question on this platform twice but couldn’t see it go through. I am from Ethiopia with CN 2022AF 18***. A couple of questions
1. I have been to south Africa from 31 march 2019 to 18 march 2020, which is few days short of a full year. Do i still need police clearance certificate from south Africa?
2. Me and my wife filled high school education section on the DS260 from grade 9 through 12. Grades 7 and 8 are considered junior high schools here. should i unlock DS 260 to correct this or can it be done at time of interview? NB: I have unlocked previously to just add social account and correct misspelled email.
Thank you for the help in advance
September 17, 2021 at 00:44
1. Yes
2. I recommend people detail all education from age 12 and up. Your choice as to whether you unlock or not. You have time to do that considering your case number.
September 13, 2021 at 10:53
Hi Britsimon,
I have two questions that I need clarification for.
I am 2022EU15xxx, Italian, living in the US
1) In the DS-260, I could choose the embassy.
I am from Italy and the default is the US Rome Embassy.
However, since I know that IV process takes place in the Naples consulate, I changed it to Naples.
Is that a problem?
I am confused since I hear in your channel QA that you guys refer to the Embassy, while the visas are processed at the consulate.
Hopefully I did not mess it up.
2) Vaccinations.
I am going ahead tomorrow, with a physician in the US, to have my blood tested, so to receive the missing vaccinations (if any) and to have a record to show at the medical visit (when I will be able to have an interview scheduled).
Do you see any problem in that?
Can this “proactivity” generate an issue during the medical visit that I will have prior the interview?
Thank you
Guma77
September 13, 2021 at 21:45
Hi Gumma77,
I am 2022EU00017*** – if you like, pls send me an email so we can keep in updated. Our case numbers are pretty close 🙂
[email protected]
September 17, 2021 at 00:45
1. No problem.
2. Just potential to waste money. The medical will need to be done in Italy if you plan to interview there.
September 13, 2021 at 11:35
Hi Brit,
I am DV2020 winner, case number EU27***.
Is there any new information from the last update about the reserved visas? I have received the ready to be scheduled for interview email in June 2020. Do you think that I will have a chance for an interview now?
Thank you!
September 17, 2021 at 00:46
No new info yet.
September 13, 2021 at 11:37

Hello Sir, First of all thank you very much. Am dv 2021 winner and now am in usa, texas.
I have one question, I got my SSN Friday and now my sponsor is changing his address and what should I do change my address so I can get my green card on my new address. please let me know.
September 17, 2021 at 04:02
You can’t change the address for delivery of the GC once you have entered the USA.
September 13, 2021 at 20:41
Dear Mr. Simon,
Thanks for such a great resource. I have a question (asking for a friend, really:)
I have a child under 21 from a previous marriage. I know we need to list all children during the lottery application.
But, if I win, what implications does this have?
– Do I have to prove parenthood if I win? (I may have a hard time proving parenthood: the child is in another country, and I do not intend to take her with me to US)
– Isn’t it easier to not mention the child, if I don’t have any proof of parenthood anyway?
Thank you so much!
Chris

September 13, 2021 at 20:48
Dearest BritSimon,
I just wanted to let you know that we had our interview on September 9th and our visas were approved. It went really well, the Consul was very nice, didn’t ask much. We highly appreciate you, your blog and youtube channel. Our experience was successful only thanks to you. We are Goh plaintiffs, luckily, we didn’t have to wait for the judge’s order.
We will be in touch,
All the best!
September 14, 2021 at 05:08
Were you asked for affidavit of support?
September 17, 2021 at 04:04
That’s great news!
September 13, 2021 at 20:57
Hi Brit
Regional limits have gone out of the window
Because SA has processed over their estimated quota
Can this happen with the country limit (7%) for some embassies like Algeria !!!!!
September 17, 2021 at 04:05
SA have not gone over the quota and the 7% cannot be exceeded.
September 13, 2021 at 22:18
God Day!
I am one of the recent lottery qualifiers (applicant) of DV2022 which my status is current. As you may know, there is no available US embassy in Iran and the Iranian qualifier shall use one of the following locations as listed below :
Ankara (Turkey), Yerevan (Armenia) and Abu Dhabi (UAE).
Due to my recent search, I have realized that US embassy in Ankara announced that they will no longer accept any application from outside country and only Turkish resident packages will be processed. In the same token, Yerevan embassy is closed. This was a shock already to the winners of DV 2021 and for group of Iranians who have selected Ankara as for their potential interview location as part of DV 2022.
I would like to ask your support, advice, and recommendation in this matter. Is it a wise decision to ask KCC and request of change in the Interview location, while I have submitted my documents online and have not yet received acceptance email; or do you recommend to stay put and hope that Ankara will change the policies and will accept Iranian application while we have a very narrow margine?
Your kind reply is highly appreciated.
Farah

I don’t have specific advice – do what you think is best.
September 14, 2021 at 02:13
Hi Brit thank you very much for you afford. My question about timing of divorce process. I am the principle winner and my CN 2022EU5XXXX. Right now I am married. I and my wife want to divorce but at the same time we want to go into USA. We try to find best time. Is it best time to get divorce after getting visa after embassy or after getting green card in USA. Moreover If it happens in any way, would it invalidate my wife’s change of getting citizenship, or make a problem with immigration office.
September 17, 2021 at 04:18
Stay married, get the Greencards, and if you still want to divorce, you can do with no problem.
September 14, 2021 at 02:43
Hello BritSimon
I mention on Ds260 my current address my home country address for have interview there but i m still in different country with my tourist visa what would you recommend to me ? Can cause any problem ? My CS number current for October
Thank you Sir.
September 17, 2021 at 04:19
No problem. You will get enough notice of the interview to go home.
September 14, 2021 at 02:58
Dear BritSimon,
I am a winner of DV2022 ( AS92xx )
My wedding is scheduled for July 2022, but I found out that applying for spouse GreenCard after my process will take more than 2 years.
I received an email in August from KCC and submitted my documents already
Do you think that I should wait until July to update my ds260 Visa application? Or what is the best solution that I can take now?
Appreciate your help very much,
September 17, 2021 at 04:19
Get married earlier so that you can both be on the case.
September 14, 2021 at 03:21
Hi Simon!
I just got my 2NL for Montreal, with my interview next Monday (20th). I managed to get a medical appointment tomorrow morning, but won’t have time to get new photos before then. I can use the photo I applied to DV with for the medical since I have a hardcopy, and then get new ones for the interview.
My question is – does the green card photo I use at the medical have to be the same one as the hardcopies I submit at the interview? I have to take 2 hardcopies of a US immigration pic to the medical – is that simply for identification purposes or do they need to match the green card ones?
Thanks so much!!
September 14, 2021 at 19:19
This is not a clear answer to your question. But I just want to bring to your attention that someone here on this blog said his visa was denied at the interview cause the photo was old (did not mention how old tho).
Then again you may use your own judgement and Simon’s as well
September 17, 2021 at 04:20
You can get new photos, no problem.
September 14, 2021 at 06:56
Hi Britsimon,
I am the winner of the American lottery 2022. My case number is 2022EU25xxx. I have completed the completion of the DS-260 at the end of May with the current passport with which I applied for the lottery form in 2020. I have not received yet the request for documents and date of interview. My passport expires in March 2022. I have two questions that I need clarification for:
1. First of one , if I am required to renew my new passport, and request the opening of the DS -260 for information updates, when can I proceed now or in the coming months with this?
2. Also the person who came out as a guarantor in America will change the home address in October 2021. His information for the current address I put in the form DS -260. am I required to request the opening of the DS-260 form and the writing there the information for the new address?
Thank you in advance for your support !
September 17, 2021 at 04:21
1. Whenever you want.
2. Update that at the interview.
September 14, 2021 at 07:43
Hi Simon!
Firstly just wanted to thank you for everything. I was issued my visa 🙂
Some numbered questions if I may borrow a minute of your time;
1. I am planning to do an activation trip at the end of September 2021 and depart in mid October 2021. I am planning the permanent move to be between 3.5 – 5 months later. I read about trying to stay under the 6 months mark, so just wanted to confirm if this is still the safe range and that this plan is OK?
2. When I return home, I would like to work some more for my current employer at home so I can save some more money before the move later. I realize I have to pay tax for this as it is considered worldwide income – do you know of any good tax professional agency/person in California with some knowledge of forgein income?
I am of course researching it on my own but just wanted to check if you had a good contact.
3. During the shorter activation trip I’ll stay at an Airbnb, do I need to report this is as an adress change to USCIS or IRS?
I read about reporting adress changes to USCIS, but was unsure if this is applicable in this scenario.
Thank you Simon!
September 17, 2021 at 04:26
1. It’s fine.
2. I don’t have a good contact. You probably will be able to exclude the foreign income, or offset tax paid.
3. No. AirBnb is like staying at a hotel.
September 14, 2021 at 11:51
Hello Simon
To prove that you have sufficient experience in your profession, Did you take a work resume to your interview?
Thanks for all your help

Me? I did not have to as I was the derivative.
September 14, 2021 at 14:01
Hey Simon,
Got a follow up question I forgot to include:
– If my mom starts applying to the DV lottery, does it somehow make it more difficult for her to obtain a B1/B2 visa in the future or can it be a factor in a tourist visa interview?
Since they are asking for passport numbers now for applicants.
September 17, 2021 at 04:29
Entering the lottery is not a problem.
September 14, 2021 at 14:10
Hi Brit. I remember you mentioned this earlier, but couldn’t find – the police certificate was valid one year or two years since the issuance?

Hi Brit, I hope you are doing well. Sir I have question which I would like your clarification from. I am DV2021 winner currently waiting to get 2nl from KCC, sir I applied the lottery with bachelor’s degree and I have stated in DS260 that I did work for two year in two different organizations but I am unable to get letters from both of the organization which I did work. Sir what’s ur suggestion? Should I contact KCC and open my DS260 so that I can remove the working experience and I can describe my situation to the consular officer during my interview appointment.n
September 14, 2021 at 14:52
Hi Simon,
Good day,
I (DV 2021) would like to ask if we should enter US before end of September 2021?

September 14, 2021 at 15:14

September 14, 2021 at 21:12
It gives you 6 month since medical exam date to enter US.
September 17, 2021 at 04:30
No need. Enter before the expiry date on the visa.
September 14, 2021 at 15:05

For DV2021, how i can become a member in a class action lawsuits such as Rosales? should i wait until september 30 and then participate or it will be automatic?
Thanks a lot
September 17, 2021 at 04:33
That lawsuit is not going to be a class action now. You cannot join it.

September 14, 2021 at 21:49
Hi Brit!
For DV2022 from Iraq, in DS-260 form, is it better to choose US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq or choose a neighboring country?
And if I choose Iraq, can I request to unlock the form and change Baghdad to a neighboring country?
September 17, 2021 at 04:38
I would personally choose a different country.
September 14, 2021 at 22:08

Dear Mr Simon
I am DV2022 selectee, case number 2022AS00029xxx
I completed DS-260 application for me & my whole family on May 20th, 2021
on June 3rd, 2021 I sent an email to KCC asking for update on my DS-260
I received a reply on July 13th, 2021, saying :
“Thank you for your inquiry.

I’m confused with the reply, since it said an interview had been schedule while i haven’t submitted my documents yet.
I haven’t taken any further action until now.
Please advise your thoughts and suggestions for my next action.
Thank you

Hi Simon. Based on your recommendation, I’d like to submit my documentation to KCC following the DV2022 DS-260 submission in July. One of the required documents is “Military Records: If you served in the military of any country, you must submit a scanned copy of your military record.” I was called to army but the recruitment commission’s conclusion was “ineligible to serve in army during peace time, and eligible with limitations during war time.” I was issued a Military Card that reflects these notes. In a different scenario, I would submit this card to KCC just in case but, considering longer processing times, I don’t want to submit the record to avoid confusion: it’s a long document that states ineligibility somewhere in the middle and because the requirement says “If you served in the military…” and I did not serve. Can you please help me decide whether I should submit this record or not?

It sounds like your country requires military service. If so, the document you have should be shown.

Hi Brit,
I remember you mentioned this earlier in one of your lives, but I couldn’t find – the police certificate was valid one year or two years since the issuance ?
Thanks in advance

Hi Simon, So I regularly check your blog as well as a couple of forums to make sure I’m keeping up to date on as much as possible and I thought I’d ask something about social media as it seems to be an issue for some and answers kind of differ. When completing my DS-260, I put in the social media platforms I use in my personal name.
1) I created a YouTube channel but have never uploaded anything to it and therefore never used it – should this have been included?
2) I did not include social media tied to my small business. Am I correct in thinking this was not asked for?
3) I only just realised I also have a Quora account but did not include this. Do I really need to unlock to add this now?
4) I included all my email addresses except one as I actually rarely check it and forgot about it.
Overall, I guess what I’m asking is – is it really necessary to request to unlock this to add the likes of Quora as well as the other email address? If not, should I mention at interview or only if asked? From what I’ve been reading people are saying to unlock and correct it. But I’m not sure this is a necessity at this point. My CN is 2022AF3K already DQ’d.
Thanks so much.

Simon have said in the last to questions likewise that it is not necessary to unlock your form for this sort of issue. And besides you have a relatively low CN.
However I would like to ask you when did you send your documents and how long it took you to get DQ’d. Thanks

1. No
2. Yes
