Hi Brit,
I trust you still going strong.
Please me advise on this, what happens when one gets a baby after being DQ’ed and is scheduled for interview and the baby is not included in the DS-260.
Thanks.
September 17, 2021 at 05:07
It’s a matter of discussing with the embassy.
September 17, 2021 at 19:28

Hi Brit
I am DV 2022 winner with AS2XXX number and I have 2 question
Q1: I used my passport to apply for DV lotter and this passport was expired a few days after I got my wining result, I got new passport (renewed one) with new passport number but all other personal information are the same and I use the new one in my DS-260 application, and I sent both passports (new and old) with letter of explaining when I submit my Civil document to KCC, is this will affect my case processing .?
Q2: my spouse forget to list his facebook account in social media, did you think this might affect .? and does this required me to open my DS-260 for correction .?
September 17, 2021 at 05:08
1. No problem.
2. Since the case is so low, and it is the derivative only, no need to unlock.
September 15, 2021 at 14:56
Hello Simon,
What’s the maximum case number of Asia region for dv2021 does exist?
My understanding is that all case number after 30000 is very high, and interview does not scheduled every year.
Is there still some hope or no more interview won’t be scheduled till the end of this month?
I don’t take health checkup yet.
September 17, 2021 at 05:09
The remaining hope for DV2021 is the lawsuits.
September 15, 2021 at 15:27
Hi mister brit
I made a mistake in my ds 260
The mistake is one letter wroung with my m9ther name should i unlock my ds 260
September 17, 2021 at 05:09
Typically that would be best.
September 15, 2021 at 16:10
Hi, Simon
I’m DV22 winner, the US Embassy here in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is not running. Still they don’t process DV2021 cases beyond Maximum CN 2200. Do u think we have hope for DV 2022 winners. What do u say about the visa prioritization for DV 2022 calendar?
Thanks
September 17, 2021 at 05:10
We have to wait and see.
September 15, 2021 at 16:21
Hi Brit,
I’ve recently downloaded DV-2022-Instructions file and there is this line:
“A “high school education or equivalent” is defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of elementary and secondary education in the United States OR the successful completion in another country of a formal course of elementary and secondary education comparable to a high school education in the United States.”
I didn’t quite understand the “equivalent” part.
My education took 11 years to complete, but the documents I got from school says “Completion of high school” on it.
Can I apply for DV program with it or It MUST be a 12-year course in every country?
September 17, 2021 at 05:11
It is not the number of years that is important. It is the level that allows entry to a University.
September 17, 2021 at 15:41
I went to a university for 2 years and then I left. I don’t know if my education level is accepted in US universities.
September 15, 2021 at 16:53
I am the winner of dv2021. I submitted three ds260 forms separately for me, my wife and child. In my ds260 form I noted my wife will not migrate with me and also my child will not migrate with me. When I send supporting documents ( I send documents with out request form KCC) i sent my supporting documents only. Sill I not received ds, dq mail. I think I will got ds mail very soon. My wife and child will not migrate in this fiscal year. My question is completed three ds 260 for me, my wife and child that will be a problem for my further visa processing? Should I have to request unlock my wife and child ds260 from KCC.?
September 17, 2021 at 05:14
If they are not going to process with you, you did not need to submit their DS260s

Success story – 2021EU11xxx London embassy
I just wanna share some details of my DV journey as I believe some people might find it helpful.
March 12 – documents submitted
August 17 – 2NL received with an interview scheduled for the next day giving me less than 24 hours notice – I didn’t go to the interview
August 24 – London embassy sends me an email w/ instruction on how to register on their website and book an interview slot – there was only one last time slot available all the way up until the end of September
September 2 (Thursday) – medical exam
September 6 (Monday) – Visa Medicals confirm they sent my results to the embassy via courier on that day (3 working days after the exam)
September 8 (Wednesday) – interview at the embassy – visa approved, however, the medical results hadn’t arrived at the embassy at the time of my interview, or possibly hadn’t been dealt with yet
September 10 (Friday)- my CEAC status changed from Ready to Administrative Processing
September 13 (Monday) – my CEAC status changed to Issued – later that day I got an email from the embassy w/ a tracking number for my passport/envelope
September 15 (Wednesday) – I collected my passport/envelope at DX Chancery Lane in London
The interview itself was a surprisingly pleasant experience. My interview was scheduled for 9AM. I arrived at the embassy at 8:10AM and was leaving the building at 9AM. Most people seemed to be there for the non-immigrant visas. I was asked just a couple of basic questions, such as ‘When are you planning to travel to the US?’ or what was my job. I was a sole applicant, no marriages and whatnot, nothing really extra.
Thank you, Simon, for all your advice. And a big shoutout to Vibh who supported me along the way. It’s your turn now 😉
September 15, 2021 at 21:52
Congratulations for your visa. I have been reading your post on this blog it always great to get at the end of the journey. I am a 2022 selectee getting interviewed in London as well and I was hoping you could share more about the medical, the appointment booking and interview in general. Feel free to email at [email protected] thanks

September 18, 2021 at 04:40
Thank you Linda for sharing your success story with us.
I’ve been following your comments since the beginning
Because I have a similar story, the results are not complete yet
I have an important question.
Did the Consul ask you for a I-134, or how was your financial cover?
September 15, 2021 at 19:23
Hello Brit !
Do you believe that judge Mehta will preserve DV-21 visas ? ??
September 16, 2021 at 06:14
Hello Kiran,
Chances are he will.
I wouldn’t like to lose mine either.
September 16, 2021 at 14:30
@BEATRICE, Where are you from mate?
September 17, 2021 at 05:16
I think that is very likely.
September 15, 2021 at 20:05
Hello Simon! I want to ask you this question: I have changed my job after a few months I have submitted the Ds-260, is it ok if I tell this to the CO at the interview? My case number is 2022EU00001XXX.
Thank you sir!
September 17, 2021 at 05:16
Yes
September 15, 2021 at 21:32
Hi Brit! I have a question about my DS 260.
There is question on the first part that asked “Have you ever used other names (i.e., maiden, religious, professional, alias, etc.)?” We said no!
My wife had previous marriage and she used to have her husband’s surname. After she divorced she got back her maiden name a few years ago. And when we applied for the dv lottery she replaced all the documents with her maiden name. Even after we married we choose to use our surnames. My question is that should we unlock the DS 260 form again and mentioned her ex spouse surname or there is no need to added? What is your suggestion?
September 17, 2021 at 05:17
She used another name…
September 16, 2021 at 00:23
Hi Simon,
I hope you’re well and keeping safe.
I attended my DV interview in April this year in Sydney. I hadn’t completed my medical at the time so was asked to do it and submit it, as well as post my passport to the consulate. Both of these items have now been received (as of last week, according to postal tracking). I just checked on the status of my visa and it says – Refused (last updated 28-Jul-2021). My heart has sunken. I understand it would be refused until they receive the documents, however it’s been recently updated (late July). Do you think there is any possibility this will change?
Many thanks,
John
September 17, 2021 at 05:18
Yes. But you can email them and ask.
September 16, 2021 at 04:46

(Because I have good grades for second and third attempts).
Pls any one who had the interview in SriLanka please reply. Greatly appreciate your reply.
Thank you in advance
September 16, 2021 at 07:48
Hi Brit, hope all is good!
I want the address where i should receive the green card.
What do you think would be safe. during the interview or US airport?
Afraid if I ask to change it during the interview it’ll get me AP.
Thanks
September 17, 2021 at 05:20
“Afraid if I ask to change it during the interview it’ll get me AP.”
That is silly.
September 16, 2021 at 09:18
Hi Brit, how will DVs benefit from the reconciliation bill?
And is he different from the Meng amendment?
September 17, 2021 at 05:19
We have to wait and see if the language stays in the bill as passed.
September 16, 2021 at 10:48
Hello simon,
While sending my civil documents to KCC, I have written as [(my case number) – Diversity Lottery Supporting Documents] in subject instead of case number only.
Would that be a mistake ?
September 17, 2021 at 05:20
If the first part was case number you will be OK
September 16, 2021 at 11:46
Hi brit
My sponsor has 6 family member and only two of them are working. Is it all right if he sponsor me ?
Will visa officer thinks that i will be public charge? Coz my sponsor family is big.
September 17, 2021 at 05:21
Read the FAQ for the formula they use.
September 16, 2021 at 11:58
Hello sir,
I am dv selectee 2021 and done interview and got the visa also but there is mistake is my visa name. They wrote surname in given name and given name in surname. When I cross check there was mistake in ds260 also.I already mailed to support regarding this. So sir will there be problem for this. Visa is approved.
September 17, 2021 at 05:21
You should ask the embassy to correct it.
September 17, 2021 at 17:54
Any chances of cancellation of visa in this case??
September 18, 2021 at 00:09
Why?
September 18, 2021 at 06:49
Because I made mistakes in ds260 . Please sir advise
September 18, 2021 at 14:04
I can’t read your mind. So either be specific or stop asking.
September 16, 2021 at 12:23
Hello brit! I’m from dv 2022… I have a few issues with my birth certificates regarding the birthdays of my parents and some misspelled names etc. And I’m hoping to provide affidavits regarding the matters at the visa interview… but should I attach them when I’m sending my documents to kcc as well? Or shall I mention at the bottom of the documents that I will be providing affidavits for these problems?
September 17, 2021 at 05:22
I would NOT suggest attaching those. Take them to the interview if you want.
September 16, 2021 at 13:08
Hi Brit,
Thanks for all your effort for helping us!
I am one of DV2021 winners in Hong Kong. On 2 Sep, I received the super short notice of having interview on the next day. So we had to submit the medical reports later. Today I submitted the reports to the US Consulate and our CEAC status has been changed to “Issued”.
When I went to the US Consulate today, I have also asked the staff about the arrangement of entry to the US as I and my family members will enter the US separately. I know that, as I am the principal applicant, I have to enter the US at first. But for my wife’s entry, the staff told me that she has to provide the evidence of my entry to the immigration officer at the airport. The staff said I would need to mail my passport to my wife beforehand so that she can show it as the evidence of my entry. I asked if photocopy is okay but he replied he’s unsure about that.
I would like to seek your advice about this.
Thank you in advance.
September 17, 2021 at 05:23
You can follow their instruction.
September 16, 2021 at 15:50
Hi Simon, I’m a DV winner from 2021 (AS14xxx) and I just got my interview scheduled which is in 4 DAYS very early in the morning. is that common? I had sort of given up hope on the interview and haven’t prepared for the medical exam (I know it’s my fault…) I’m not sure if I can schedule an exam with this short timeframe. Hope I can have some of your insights into this and thank you.
September 17, 2021 at 05:24
Of course its not common – but we have been pushing to get some additional cases added – so be happy!
September 24, 2021 at 03:02
Hi Simon, just wanna update you I managed to have my medical check on Sat and I had my interview on Monday. The Consulate barely asked me any questions other than collecting my Diploma, bank statements, passport copies etc. I had to visit the the Consulate again since KCC failed to send my profile over due to some technical issue. I’ve finally paid the visa fee on 24th (today) and I’m just waiting for my medical report. Fingercrossed! Thank you!
September 25, 2021 at 23:30
Fingers crossed for you!
September 16, 2021 at 16:21
Hello Simon,
Me and my family had an interview in August, but we were put in an AP for additional info.
Obviously we provided all the info, they needed. But as you know there is no time frame for AP, and we are still waiting to this date.
My question is, if there will be visa preservation afterwards, does that cover cases in AP too? Or preserved visas only for new interviews?
September 17, 2021 at 05:25
Probably AP too – we will have to wait to see.
September 16, 2021 at 18:17
Dear Simon,
I found your site with a little luck and your tips have answered many of my questions. I was selected in DV-2021 and I had submitted all my documents. Today I had my interview and I think that we will get an approval. Unfortunately, I got the one rejection because I gave a WRONG answer in question number 6 during registration:
Country of eligibility for the DV program – Your country of eligibility will normally be the same
as your country of birth. Your country of eligibility is not related to where you live or your
nationality, if it is different from your country of birth. If you were born in a country that is not
eligible, please review the Frequently Asked Questions to see if there is another way you may be
eligible.
Unfortunately, I did not save the answers from me. The officer told me I can research and if I am right I can contact him by email.
I am 39 years old, was born in Iran and have been in Germany for almost 30 years and have German citizenship. However, I am sure that I have given this information correctly. After all, I know where I was born! I have not lied and have given all the information on the form DS-260 correctly.
How can I prove this? Do you have a solution to my problem? What is the best thing for me to do?
I would be very happy to hear back from you.
Many greetings from Germany,
Ali
September 17, 2021 at 05:30
You should have an AS case number, but probably have EU number. In that case you were refused correctly and predictably.
September 16, 2021 at 21:21
Hi Simon. I’ve just read something that is complete news to me and want to clarify please. All this time I was under the assumption that only the main applicant needs to produce relevant work/educational background. Now I’ve read that if using your spouses country of eligibility, they too will have to show this?
I’m asking because I’m British so used my husband’s country of chargeability. Does this therefore mean that he too will have to produce relevant/eligible work/education documents?
Will only myself as the main applicant providing this not be enough? Will we therefore be disqualified if he does not produce this as well?
September 17, 2021 at 05:26
I have this described on my site. When cross charging both of you need to prove you meet the requirements and both must enter the USA together.
September 16, 2021 at 21:28
Brit – I have been following you for more than a year. I don’t remember how I found you the first time but it is been a journey that I will not forget for a while at least. I went through a roller coaster of up and downs with your posts, lives and Q&A. I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for spending time and sharing information about lawyers (Chuck specifically), embassies, Some1mom, AOS and everything else. I know DV2021 is not been great but you helped me and I am grateful for that. I wish all my DV2021 mates a great success. I have lots of hopes like reserving visas beyond Sep. 30th, No COVID/more collaboration by embassies and etc. Hopefully one day I win the $ lottery and relocate to CA and come to visit you. God bless you, Brit!
September 17, 2021 at 05:31
Thanks for the kind message. Best of luck!!!
September 16, 2021 at 23:19
Hi Brit, do you have any insights on the implications of the withdrawal of the motion for class certification in the Rosales case? How does this affect outcomes for Goh and Goodluck?
September 17, 2021 at 05:33
Curtis did that because he thinks it will be advantageous for his clients. It remains to be seen whether that strategy will have any benefit or not.
September 17, 2021 at 03:09
Hello Brit hope you doing well
i m now living in another country almost 2 years but i mention on ds260 present address my homecountry address for to have interview in my country. As far as i know interview place related applicant present address .
However i got police clearance letter from another country and also mention address too for previous address

September 17, 2021 at 05:35
Your DS260 should be accurate…
September 17, 2021 at 04:17

You have to be patient, they are weeks behind with emails.
September 18, 2021 at 07:46
so such a delay will not affect or delay my case right?DV 2022 AS 2xxx.

New covid -19 rules to be start October 1st 2021.
Is it applicable to 2021 with issued Visa?
September 17, 2021 at 05:24
Covid 19 vaccination as per CDC requirement will start by October 1st 2021
Does it apply to dv2022 with issued visa?
September 17, 2021 at 05:39
I wish you would be more clear!
If you mean the POE requirements on vaccinations, yes of course.
September 17, 2021 at 05:59
Hi Brit! Is it compulsory for the sponsor to mail us the I-134 form and other docs or will scanning them and emailing it to us be enough?
September 17, 2021 at 13:53
Scanning is ok
September 17, 2021 at 06:01
Hi Brit,if the immigration bill passes, would i benefit from section 2, Iam DV2017 filed for AOS but couldnt get my GC as visa numbers were exhausted.
Thank you.
September 17, 2021 at 13:50
No.
September 17, 2021 at 06:52
Hi Brit, I was just looking at Save DV website and noticed that the refusal rate for OC is high this year – is this normal? Why do you think it is?
September 17, 2021 at 13:53
It’s normal.
September 17, 2021 at 08:23
Hi Simon,
Stopping by to say a big thank you to you for all the help you have provided for the DV2021 process.
I earlier had an issue with my DOB being incorrect in my passport to which you suggested me to apply new passport with corrected DOB which I did.
My case no. is 2021AS00020xxx and I am a Goodluck plaintiff as well.
Interview location Mumbai India and country of chargeability UAE.
Submitted DS-260 9th March 2021,
Unlocked DS-260 in April and resubmitted on April 27th 2021.
Submitted documents on April 28th 2021
Got DQ-ed on 30th July 2021
Received 2NL on 26th August 2021.
Interview on 1st September 2021
Visa issued on 8th September 2021.
Beyond grateful for all the help you have provided with the process.
Thank you.
September 17, 2021 at 13:55
That’s great news!
September 17, 2021 at 09:23
Good Brit!
I’ve a concern.
What will happen if the judge decide to prioritize named plaintiffs and the reconciliation bill in which immigration concerning saving dv visas become a law?
The judge decision will be always considered or not?
September 17, 2021 at 13:56
Way too much speculation….
September 17, 2021 at 09:25
Good evening . Can a person with professional experience and a tailor’s certificate register for the US DV 2023 Lottery?
September 17, 2021 at 13:58
Anyone can register for the lottery, but experience as a tailor would not meet the requirement.

September 17, 2021 at 09:40
Hey brit
Is there a way to check which case number is processing at the moment?
September 17, 2021 at 13:58
No
September 17, 2021 at 11:47
Hi BritSimon, I hope you’re doing fine. Our case number is 2022AS32XX. We’re a family of three. My husband is the main applicant and my little son any myself are derivatives. My husband’s travel history includes USA, Canada, and Jordan.
– We submitted DS260 on May 10, 2022.
– We sent the documents without being asked on July 22,2022.
– KCC sent us a request to send the documents on August 11, 2022. We sent all the required documents again to them on the same day (August 11)
Our number is current for November bulletin 2022. However, we haven’t yet received the DQ (Documents Qualified) email from KCC. Few days ago, we sent an email to KCC enquiry about the status of our documents and case but we haven’t received a reply from them yet.
My question is:
1- Since we’re current for November 2022, when should we expect to receive the DQ email? What do you think?
Many Thanks
Sabrina
September 17, 2021 at 13:59
Everything is delayed because of the additional effort they are putting in to DV2021. Be patient.
September 17, 2021 at 14:55
Good evening. I am a DV 2018 winner with a CN: AF41 *** but I hadn’t had the chance to be programmed simply because the last VB was AF 39500. is what if the new legislation and reconciliation passes congress. Am I lucky enough to be scheduled for a Visa interview?
September 18, 2021 at 00:12
No
September 17, 2021 at 15:26
Hi, Simon
I’m DV2021 winner from Ethiopia. Here the US embassy is not processing DV cases and its abnormal. You know that currently the Ethiopian government relationship with the US is not good b/c political issue. Before 2 month ago the US government applied visa sanction on the higher Ministers of the Ethiopian government.
My question do you think that the problem is because of z two countries political situation?
September 18, 2021 at 00:12
No
September 17, 2021 at 15:49
How is it going Brit,
I got a question for you. Dv2022, AF16***. So I filled ds260 3 months ago and in social accounts question I forgot to mention my deleted reddit account – which I had created for one week duration (about 1 year ago) and ended up not even commenting with it, then deleted that account. Do I need to unlock my ds260 for this? Or should I mention it during my interview?
Thanks in advance
September 18, 2021 at 00:11
No need.
September 17, 2021 at 16:41
Hi BritSimon,
My niece was accepted in the 2022 DV lottery with a case number of 2022AS1XX. We submitted her DS260 in early June, but we have not yet received a request to send documents. I sent KCC an email about a month later and they replied in August that they had received our forms and are processing them, and that it should take several weeks. But still no request for documents. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
Thanks,
MJ

Send the documents!

Hello, I need to ask about affidavit of support. My cousin is going to send me the affidavit of support, but her partner lost the naturalization certificate, although he has the number in order to fill i134 form. Is it a problem if she does not have her husband’s naturalization passport, but instead she has only the green card?
September 18, 2021 at 00:09
No problem.

Up until today I was thinking the lawsuits would provide some benefit for everyone, plaintiff or not. However, it seems that might be changing and only plaintiffs will benefit. You cannot join the lawsuits now.

Hello again. I need to ask where in the I-134 form there is item 11? According to I-134 instructions it is written that” An original, signed Form I-134 Affidavit of Support (not a photocopy, or an emailed copy). NOTE: Item number 11 on this form must be filled in as follows: “I intend to make specific contributions…” . I cannot see anything that starts with this phrase. Also there is not item 11, there are multiple sessions where 11 is as 11.a, 11.b but there is no 11. I do not know where I have to write this can you please clarify?

The form changed, it’s question 38 now – but there are full instructions available where you downloaded the form.

Hi Simon,
I saw your comment on twitter regarding the status conference that Judge Mehta had with the lawyers.
If you could just shed some light on these cases, does it mean the judge hands are tied? He can only give relief to the named plaintiffs and leave out even the DQ’ed selectees?
Thanks

How much should the annual income of the sponsor be for Form I-134 .if he is already now breadwinner for two person + his self, basically, how much must his annual income be in order to be able to support a family of three person with DV2021 ??
Does the form need to be authentication from any party after it signed by the sponsor ?

Hello,
After my DV interview. . My case shows refused on CEAC but the case is still getting updated. I haven’t received 221g letter nor any denial email. However, I received an email that my passport has been send back and another email that they need additional documents. The title of the email was US Visa personal courier instructions. The mail mentioned how to mail out the documents but not specifically which documents. It says if you are first time applicant follow the instructions which were provided to you to provide the documents during your appointment. Or you received the 221g letter then follow the instructions. I haven’t received the letter. So it means I come in the category of the first time applicant but which documents they are asking for is vague. I am not sure what documents they are asking for because I presented all the documents already. The only documents that was missing was my University degree original copy because I couldn’t get out of Afghanistan with American university degree and I had it electronic on my iCloud. Because my case was transferred to Dubai because Afghanistan collapsed in the hands of Taliban and I made sure to evacuate to make it to Dubai for interview on time. Please enlighten me. What documents should I send ?
