Hi BritSimon,
I’m a pediatric doctor and I had a high school academic degree, University degree & Master degree, all already accomplished & I applied for a doctoral degree (January 2018 – December 2020)
On October 2020, While I applied for DV-Lottery, I answered the question of the highest degree achieved as : Doctoral degree.
I got selected FY 2022 and within few days I’m going to submit DS-260 for my family & I
I have already finished doctoral degree but a bit late, I mean June 2021 rather than December 2020 cause of Covid.
Shall I exclude doctoral degree from DS-260 or I have to leave it as I already got it however in 2021 not 2020.
Thanks,
October 2, 2021 at 17:41
Just the truth.
October 2, 2021 at 17:55
Yes, definitely, it is obvious I filled all and for doctoral degree specifically, I filled the graduation date exactly as it is , I’m asking about your thoughts, perspective, could you please elaborate more.
October 2, 2021 at 18:20
I have nothing to add.
October 2, 2021 at 18:54
Thank you so much, BritSimon.
October 2, 2021 at 18:57
Hello Britsimon
My name is Sulaiman Shaikhani and I’m from Afghanistan. I have been selected in DV-2021 and have sent my documents to the KCC department. My case number us 2021AS24xxx. As you may know the situation in Afghanistan is very bad and US embassy has suspended their operations. So as a third possible country to travel I have decided to go to Pakistan.
– I want to know that Is DV-2021 still going on after September?
– How can I transfer my case to the US embassy located in Islamabad, Pakistan.
I have emailed them many times, but they are not responding and not transferring my case to that embassy.
I wonder if you got answers and solution for these problems I have.
Thanks in advance,

Unless you are a plaintiff in the lawsuits, DV2021 has ended. There is some chance of legislation being passed to recover lost visas from DV2020 and DV2021, but it is by no means certain yet.
October 2, 2021 at 20:12
Hi mr BritSimon. DV2022EU00011 ***. Submitted DS 260 July first and send documents without asking september 23. Do you think that i am to late, or my case number is to high and has no chance for an interview Can you tell me when is the time to understand that I have no hope of getting a visa and should be involved in the lawsuit. Thank you
October 3, 2021 at 21:50
Hello Simon !
I’m DV-2022 winner (AF10***) . KCC asked me to submit my documents and i did already so I wanted to ask you if it’s possible to travel to Dubai to attend my cousin’s wedding party on January the first or i can’t ?
SN : Visa bulletin for November 3000
October 6, 2021 at 04:55
Use your own judgement.
October 6, 2021 at 04:40
You are not late. Be patient. Way too soon to join any lawsuits.
October 2, 2021 at 20:31
Hi dear Simon. I have submitted the DS-260, i am main applicant. After submission i can’t see the question about “countries you visited last 5 years” in my wife’s DS-260 form. I remembered that i filled that field. Because she visited to Georgia. Should I unblock the DS form for this issue? My case number is 2k. What do you recommend me?
October 2, 2021 at 22:58
It won’t matter for a derivative.
October 3, 2021 at 07:39
As the spouse of a DV do you get conditional permanent residence or do you just get full permanent residence?
October 3, 2021 at 09:09
Hello . I have been in the USA since 2016. I am currently in the process of obtaining documents in the USA such as the Green Card. I have my child and my husband in Guinea. Can I play DV2023? If I play with my family is that we win. Can I follow the AOS procedure alone in the USA, after having obtained the change of my status, I help my family to join me?
October 6, 2021 at 04:42
Yes you can enter, yes if you win you can adjust status and then bring your family. But it’s a lottery – win first, then ask questions.
October 3, 2021 at 09:17
Hello Simon,
Thank you for replying.
I have other question.
My F1 visa application has been rejected twice, and ESTA has also been rejected before.
In this case, Do you think that it is possible to pass interview if I won the lottery again?
If yes, Could you provide me any tips for it?
October 6, 2021 at 04:42
Yes.
Tips – win the lottery.
October 3, 2021 at 10:30
Hi Brit!
What’s going on with the immigration bill by the way? ?
October 6, 2021 at 04:43
No news yet
October 3, 2021 at 10:46
Is that ok if. I scan original marriage certificate and send.
October 6, 2021 at 04:43
Yes
October 3, 2021 at 11:35
Hi Brit,
I’m going to apply for the lottery this year.
My question is, what should i do if i have an American son? and incase i won how do i fill the DS form?
Could it be deleted or rejected if my son is American?
Thank you
October 6, 2021 at 04:46
The instructions are clear. You do not have to include the American child, but won’t be penalized if you do.
October 3, 2021 at 15:35
Hi brit
thank you very much for your kind and generous support
my question about short training courses certificates should i mention short courses in DS260?
i mention my academic certificates only and submit ds260
my case number 2022AF10K
October 6, 2021 at 04:48
No – just academics.
October 3, 2021 at 16:19
Hi Simon,
I am DV-21 winner, about 2 months back KCC sent me an email saying the following: “The Kentucky Consular Center has received your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed”.
And today the sent me the following: Thank you for your message. Your inquiry is about a diversity visa case number from a prior program year. Information regarding the processing of diversity visas from FY2020 in accordance with the court order in Gomez v. Biden and information regarding the processing of diversity visas from FY2021 in accordance with the court orders in Rai v. Biden, Goodluck v. Biden, and Goh v. Blinken will be published on travel.state.gov as it becomes available.
I have not participated in any lawsuits, does that qualify me for court orders since they confirmed receiving before deadline?
October 6, 2021 at 04:49
No. The deadline has passed and you will not be processed.
Unless you are a plaintiff in the lawsuits, DV2021 has ended. There is some chance of legislation being passed to recover lost visas from DV2020 and DV2021, but it is by no means certain yet.
October 3, 2021 at 17:48
Dear Sir, My case No. is 2022AS3***. I submitted my and my wife’s DS 260s on 18.08.2021. We are going to send our documents in this week without being asked by the KCC. I’m the Principal Applicant and my wife is the derivative. Should we send my and my wife’s documents via MY email address? or Should I send my documents via my email address and her documents from her email address?
Highly appreciate your invaluable service, Sir!!!
October 6, 2021 at 04:50
All from one email address.
October 7, 2021 at 15:10
Thank you Sir.
October 3, 2021 at 18:04
Good evening. My CN 2022af17 ***. My sponsor is still in Texas but he’s moved, he’s gone to another neighborhood in Texas. Do I have to unlock my Ds260 to put my sponsor’s new address or wait at the embassy?
October 6, 2021 at 04:51
You can update the address at the interview.
October 3, 2021 at 19:53
hello dear brit!, i have two questions
1- im a 25 year old male with no physical disabilities do i need an i-134 (affidavit of support)?
2-i mistakenly chose vocational school in the original entry but i have an academic diploma do you think it will impose a risk of my case getting rejected?
thank you, 2022AS25xxx
October 6, 2021 at 04:53
1. Possibly.
2. I doubt it.
October 4, 2021 at 01:33
Hi Brit! I really appreciate all your work and support. I had a question: if a dv2021 winner has sent their documents more than 6 months ago, but is not DQ yet, should they send new documents at this time( since they should be within the last 6 months)? Thank you
October 6, 2021 at 04:55
Not at this time, no
October 23, 2021 at 08:07
Hi I’m a 2021 winner and since I filled in the form KCC send me respond saying that they will get to me for further processing in this case what should I do
October 23, 2021 at 19:07
DV2021 ended. If you are a plaintiff on a lawsuit you may have a chance to continue.
October 4, 2021 at 01:33
Hi Simon
My wife and I were both selected in the DV2022 as primary applicants for Oceania. Her number is OC000004XX and mine is OC00024XX. I wrote to KCC and they said it did not matter which one we submitted the DS260 under. I assume as my wife’s is the lower number it is better to go with hers. The difficulty we have is managing the interview date as our son does not finish year 12 until November 22 (and we understand the visa only lasts for 6 months after the medical). Would it be better to wait to submit the DS260 until next year to try and delay the interview until after June 22. Thank you! Glenn
October 6, 2021 at 04:57
Process the lower case number but don’t be too “clever” with delaying the interview. Why not just take an activation trip in the summer?
October 4, 2021 at 02:33
1. Is that ok If I send a scan of the passport bio page .website says a photocopy?
2. Is that ok if I send a scan of the original marriage certificate instead of a certified copy?
October 6, 2021 at 04:57
1. Yes
2. Yes
October 4, 2021 at 09:14
Dear Simon, I am always thankful for your genuine support for the DV community. I am a winner of DV-2021 and one of the plaintiffs in GoodLuck lawsuits. My case number is 2021AF47XXX (Ethiopia). There are around 150 plaintifs from Ethiopia, then my questions are (if the final order is succful);
1) I have sent DS-260 on September 2020; supporting document on March 2021 and on CEAC my case is at NVC; but I still did not receive an e-mail from KCC explaining that I am DQ. Does this mean I am not DQ? Will this affect in getting priority in the the GoodLuck lawsuit?
2) With regard to my case number and country (Ethiopia), what Will be the probability of getting interviewed?
Many thanks!
October 6, 2021 at 04:58
1. Yes that could affect your priority.
2. I don’t know
October 4, 2021 at 09:32
Dear Simon,
Thank you very much for your work.
I am a winner of the DV2022EU21000. I am about to lose my job, and I was wondering if not having a job could harm my application. I have already completed the ds260. I have the possibility to keep my job but under very bad conditions … is it essential to have a job to get the visa? Thank you.
October 4, 2021 at 17:20
Do you have High School Certificate? If you can prove that you have 12 years of studies, it is not necessary to present a job.
October 6, 2021 at 04:59
Not essential, but your number means you will be waiting until mid 2022 so surely you will have a new job by then anyway.
October 4, 2021 at 12:03
Hi Brit? Please does having beard affect one from winning the lottery??
October 5, 2021 at 00:39
Yes, Americans can’t have beards
October 6, 2021 at 05:12
@Mario – I was tempted with that same answer.
October 6, 2021 at 05:06
Of course not.
October 4, 2021 at 12:13
Hi Brit! I made a query to KCC about changing or not the day I start my university studies. Later I decided not to do anything about it, and clarify it in the interview, so I sent an email to KKC that I do not need to correct anything, and they reply, on SATURDAY morning: “Thank you for your inquiry. The information you provided is will include in your case file for review. “… What is the meaning of review here? I am DQ. Do I have to explain anything else so as not to delay my case?
October 6, 2021 at 05:07
It means they read the first email, and haven’t reached the second email yet.
October 6, 2021 at 18:02
Hi Brit, thank you for your answer. The KCC answer is for my second email telling them that I do not need to correct anything… I hope “review” means Consular review and NOt KCC review. The do nothing to do with university studies information, I guess.
October 6, 2021 at 18:12
What about sending this kind of answer:
….My case is already in DQ status.
I will clarify the start date of my university studies in the interview, so by now there is no need to correct anything in my DS-260 form.
…
October 4, 2021 at 13:15
hi mr brit
1.Should I put all the documnent file in one folder or can upload (to one mail)seperately/I mean attach files one by one ?
2.Should I write .pdf(dot pdf) at the end of each file?
can i just type 2022AS00012XXX_FirstName_MiddleName_LastName_Passort ( with out .pdf)
because If I type dot pdf when I downoad again It shows dot pdf twice
like
2022AS00012XXX_FirstName_MiddleName_LastName_Passort.pdf.pdf
October 6, 2021 at 05:08
1. Use your own judgement
2. If they are pdfs they probably already have that, so no.
October 6, 2021 at 19:30
Hi Simon, Maven,
Funnily on the second point, I asked a question on the use of typing “.pdf” in the file name as someone else had raised it also and been successful submitting files a number of months back. I didn’t type this in to our 2021EU17XXX file submission, but did type it in to our 2022EU22XXX file names. The 2022 submission has already been DQ’d but the 2021 never was. Could be a correlation but possibly not. Said I’d let you know of the observation.
Thanks for everything.
October 4, 2021 at 16:56
Hi BritSimon, my husband was selected for DV2022 Af63xxx. I’m finalizing our ds260 forms and wanted to ask about previous US visas issued. In the early 90s my husband was due to travel to the USA and applied for a visa. His travel plans changed and he never went however he is unsure if the visa was issued or not! He no longer has the passport he used at the time. How do I answer the question around whether a US visa has been issued previously?
October 6, 2021 at 05:09
The question is have they been issued, not have they been used.
October 6, 2021 at 06:08
The problem is we are not sure if it was issued. He no longer has the passport for that period of time. Should I select no and then write a letter explaining and submit with supporting docs?
October 8, 2021 at 02:35
Assume it was issued.
October 4, 2021 at 17:57
Hi Brit
I submited my ds 260,but I think I made couple mistakes:
1. On social media question I wrote on my instagram name : taušan1987, but I should wrote : tausan 1987
Do I need to corect that?
2. When they asked : Number of Educational Institutions atanded – I put 1
I have university degree with diploma(ofcourse high school diploma) . So is 1 correct answer?
3. On job history I wrote that my last date on work in USA (J1 student) was 30.october 2013 but it was 1.October.
Is that big mistake?
Should I ask KCC to unlock my case?
2022EU16xxx
Thanks
October 6, 2021 at 05:11
1. Ideally, Yes
2. How would I know?
3. No
October 6, 2021 at 08:04
@BM
3. If your J1 (work and travel program) visa expired on Oct. 1st, you should definitely correct this mistake, since leaving it as is clearly indicates you engaged in unauthorized (illegal) work past your ds-2019/visa expiration date (usually Oct 1st, but check yours).
After a J1 visa expires, one is granted 30 days to travel, NOT WORK under what’s known as “grace period”, so if your J1 visa/ds-2019 form has indeed expired on Oct 1st, you kind of mistakenly said: “Yes I violated the law big time”.
Still being in the US max. 30 days past your J1 visa expiration date is legal, as long as you were not working.
October 7, 2021 at 12:08
Can you give me answer on my second question please? All best from Banja Luka
October 8, 2021 at 12:04
DM me on Instagram @milos.grujic83 so I can add you to our Balkan winners dv22 viber group and we’ll discuss it.
October 4, 2021 at 22:02
Hi Brit Simon. Thank you for your amazing work, you’re awesome!!
Case No 2022OC23##. I submitted my DS-260 form on July 14th. I am currently in Mexico as my Bolivian wife has Mexican residency since she was 1yrs old.
We then travelled to LA for 2 weeks in Aug/Sep. I’m about to send in my documents this week even though I haven’t received the email.
1. Do I need to re open my DS -260 to include this trip?(and my wife)? I currently have 4 trips noted in the last 5yrs. I’ve checked online and it says I entered the US Aug 27th but doesn’t say we left as we left via land border at Tijuana so I don’t want them to think we are still there.
2. It was a Pickleball course (September 10th). I’m applying as a tennis coach for the Green Card. Should I add this to my education along with my other tennis courses or it doesn’t matter?
3. I have a Linked In profile which I forgot about but it hasn’t been used in the last 5yrs do I need to add this please?
Many thanks.
Darren
October 6, 2021 at 05:14
1. I think I answered this today on the live session
2. Doesn’t matter
3. No
October 5, 2021 at 00:17

October 6, 2021 at 05:14

October 5, 2021 at 18:28
Hello Sir,
I hope you are doing well.
I am one of the dv 2022 winners from Afghanistan I asked you a question a few days ago and you told me that unlock and update your new address in India. When I emailed kcc for unlocking my ds260 I received an email instantly.
This is the email.
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email; however our system could not detect any documents attached to the email. In order to continue processing your case, please submit electronic copies of the required documents to [email protected].
If you have any Diversity Visa related questions, please email [email protected] with your case number, complete name, and date of birth, as entered on your original entry.
***************************
Now that your application form has been submitted, you should review the list of required documents for processing below and send those to KCC to review as part of your application package. You will only be scheduled for interview at an overseas consular post after you have submitted all documents required for your case and your visa rank number has become current.
All documents should be submitted as attachments to your email to ensure they are properly received. We ask that you use the following method to name and attach your files:
· Your DV case number;
· The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; and
· The document name or form number.
For example:
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Passport.pdf
2020AF00938653_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf
Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address.
Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
* IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not mail any documents to KCC. Any documents sent to KCC will not be processed and will be destroyed.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States should collect the civil documents that are required to support your visa application.

Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. If you cannot obtain a particular document, send an explanation of why you cannot obtain the document, as an attachment in .jpeg or .pdf format, to [email protected], with your case number in the subject line. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.

Please help me by explaining and guiding on what does this mean. Is this email for further documents? Or what?
October 6, 2021 at 05:23
Yes – send documents.
October 6, 2021 at 11:34
Thanks for the reply sir.
But I also emailed for unlock.
So will it not be a problem. If I send documents besides emailing them for unlocking my Ds-260.
And also sir if you pay attention the examples are given in 2020. I think it should have been 2022. Because I am 2022 winner.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon
October 8, 2021 at 02:46
I answered.
October 5, 2021 at 19:15
Hi Brit, I want to apply for DV-2023 I am married was wondering if I can apply as a principal Applicant with my family as derivative than my wife apply as a principal Applicant with us as derivative, than my son apply as principal Applicant?
October 6, 2021 at 05:23
Yes – all three.
October 5, 2021 at 21:33
Hello Simon!
I am a DV2022 winner (case number 2022EU203..) . DS-260 already submitted including all of the required documents. Since I have submitted my DS-260 in May I have moved within Berlin twice AND changed my address twice. The address on the DS-260 is my old address, should I write KCC an E-Mail to unlock my DS-260 to change the address or leave it like that? I am kinda worried. Thank you in advance for your answer!

At the end of the document she sad:
For the certified translation from French into English,

Name, date, signature, stamp.

Hi BritSimon. Thank you again for all your time and information you put out its very helpful.
I am a DV2022 Winner from New Zealand. I am ready to submit my documents but I am unable to get a Police clearance certificate to put in my document submission to KCC. For some reason only in New Zealand you have to request the police certificate from NZ Police and it is only sent directly to the U.S. Consulate in New Zealand and as such you are not able to get this yourself and I intern I cannot attach it to my document email to KCC. I am able to send a clear criminal record document though.
Just wanted to understand this but seem only for NZ and I assume I will get Document qualified without this?, or will I have to hope the U.S. Consulate here in NZ forwards it onto KCC to get Document qualified.
Thanks
Hayden

Assuming you have followed the instructions on the reciprocity page, You can include proof that you have followed the procedure.
October 6, 2021 at 07:24
Hi Hayden, I sent the Ministry of justice criminal record to KCC for D 2021 and they accepted that ok. The London embassy didn’t accept the MOJ one so the Police certificate had to be sent across from the Auckland embassy. When you send the PC request through to the police records centre, they do send an email to you that states they have sent the police certificate to the US embassy Auckland and that this email can be used as proof for application purposes. Hope that helps.
October 6, 2021 at 09:15
Hayden, for my NZ police certificate document I attached an email from the vetting service showing it was completed along with the original form in DV21, it was accepted and I became DQ.
October 6, 2021 at 12:01
Hi Sam and Katy,
I never received any confirmation back from the NZ vetting service that the PC requests I sent in June had been processed.
Was this something you specifically requested or did they just send it to you?
October 8, 2021 at 12:06
Hi Stephen,
They sent it to me automatically.
October 10, 2021 at 18:12
Hi Kath,
Roughly can you remember how long it took for the vetting services to send that email confirmation please? I too am waiting for an email confirmation..
Many thanks

Hey Brit. 2022OC13## . Just thought i’d update you that NSW Australia has reached 70% vaccination, next monday the 11th of October the state will be opening back up, once we hit 80% (within the next couple of weeks) life should be returning to somewhat of a normalcy. Live events are going back, sports, theatre etc.
I hope that the American embassy opts to open too.
I’ve sent all my docs early August, i’ll just be patient for now and hope to hear some news within the next couple of months. Cheers Brit

Sydney Consulate most will operate once out of lock down, as communicated in messages with DV21 winners.
From what I have seen your number is in the middle of the range, I haven’t seen numbers higher than 2500 in OC
All the best
October 6, 2021 at 09:31
Thanks for this mate.

October 8, 2021 at 02:42

October 8, 2021 at 02:36
Fingers crossed.
October 6, 2021 at 07:09
we are 2022 winner, my wife is the principal applicant. back to 2016 she used ObamaCare for urgent birth delivery in US and the baby used the same insurance for emergency case after birth,
the question: in that case, will using the ObamaCare insurance be considered as a disqualification due to public charge ?
October 8, 2021 at 02:38
Sometimes the COs ask how you paid for medical bills. I don’t know if they will in your specific case.

Dear Simon,
May I ask you for your advice?
Concerning DS-260
During adding a new DS-260 for “accompany”, I lost the connection to the website. After reconnection, I Added the form one more time.
After refreshing the web I saw two of the same DS-260 forms (with the same name).
I filled one, but I cannot delete the second one.
I sent the email to KCC to ask if they can delete doubled DS-260.
They answered, “Once submitted, a DS-260 cannot be deleted or removed.”
What should I do in that situation?
Thanks
Seb
October 7, 2021 at 12:16
Hi Simon,
Hope you are doin well.
Situation sorted! Doubled DS-260 wasn’t a problem at all.
Today arrived new mail from KCC.
“Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current and appointments are available. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on region and which case numbers have already been processed.”
Appreciate you your help.
Many thanks
Seb

In the past when embassies were closed, the US has implemented backup plans (like alternative embassies). They will do the same for Kabul, but it will take a bit of time. So, be patient.
October 6, 2021 at 14:55
Dear Sir Simon,
I’m Dv2022 winner AF42XXX, I appreciate your fact point and reality based information. I have two questions sir.
1) I know tier 4 is still currently Applying in DV2022. Is there any possibility to know the current backblock of Immigrate issue from our embassy? Because our embassy only processed 33 cases in total in the DV2021 calendar year. I’m From Ethiopia.
2) Don’t you think preparing for a lawsuit at least against Tire 4 should start by now. Because based on the last 2 years experience there is no good will Middle and high case numbers winners.
Thank you for advice sir.
October 8, 2021 at 02:51
1. I can’t predict how the year will proceed.
2. I have spoken to the lawyers but it is not as easy as you think to challenge the Tier 4. Wait and see.
October 6, 2021 at 16:50
