Hi, Brit
1.Few days ago I just saw that I have been selected for dv2022, My case is 2022EU000149** and Do I have any hope to get my visa cuz I think it’s too late to fill ds-260.
2. How can I add my father and step-mother to ds-260?
Thank You.
November 13, 2021 at 17:00
1. It is not too late.
2. You can’t.
November 15, 2021 at 12:38
I am winner of dv lottery 22
My number 24000
I received a request for documents
And I sent documents of me and my family. Didn’t get a dq yet .
After 3 weeks of that , I had a new a baby
Do I need to reopen DS for me and my wife, adding the child, then send a new email with all the documents
Or is it’s sufficient to add the child from (add applicant)
And send the documents to the whole family with a new email
November 18, 2021 at 17:40
You have to unlock because your own DS260’s will also need modification for the new child. You would then resend all documents including those for the child.
November 18, 2021 at 17:39
Hi sir , i just want to know how does the DQ email look like ? thankyou

Dear Brit,
Thank you so very much for the wealth of knowledge you are providing. We will certainly be sending through a donation for your cause.
I am a winner from New Zealand (2022OC000008**). Our DS-260 forms have been accepted and we are now at the document processing stage. My wife and I have been very thorough with following all the information about document submission provided by the KCC and yourself. Unfortunately, we have been advised that our documents are incomplete. Upon asking KCC exactly what information is missing/incorrect, they replied (within a week) with a generic response and no details specific to our case. Our immigration attorney has not been able to help much with this either.
We really want to make sure our next submission is correct to avoid any further delays and were hoping you could give us your advice. The item(s) we think could possibly be the cause (as you have also mentioned in your videos) are:
1 – Police certificate from Iran for my wife.
She was born in NZ but meets requirements for needing an Irani police certificate when looking at the table. However, when looking at the specific country requirements, police certificates from Iran are listed as “available but unreliable” and it states that “police records are not required for immigrant visa applicants because posts cannot verify them”. Therefore, we did not submit this. We are in the process of obtaining this just in case it may be desired by KCC.
2 – Police certificate from Pakistan for me.
I was born in Pakistan and moved to NZ as a toddler. I need to submit a police certificate from Pakistan according to the table but, when looking at the country specific requirements, police certificates are listed as “unavailable” from there. Unfortunately, I cannot obtain this because it requires me traveling to the consulate in another city (Wellington) and our city (Auckland) is in lockdown and closed off from the rest of the country due to the pandemic. I can obtain this once restrictions are removed but am wondering whether it not this is really something KCC are wanting.
3 – Birth Certificate from Pakistan for me.
The only requirement from my Pakistani birth certificate that has not been met is my Mother’s name being on it clearly. It states my Mother’s name under the field “guardian” and states her first and middle names only. It does not state her last name. There is no field on the certificate for the Mother’s name; just a “guardian” field. It is issued by the correct authority as per the Reciprocity by Country information for birth certificates from Pakistan.
4 – Translation of Pakistani birth certificate.
I believe the translation meets all requirements but I wonder if we may be overlooking something in relation to this.
We were hoping you could spare some of your valuable time for us by looking through our documents and giving your advice. If you are able to do this, please let me know the best way to have our documents sent through to you.
Warm regards,
Mo

1. You need to include a written explanation (on a pdf, not email body) of why you did not provide this PC with your documents.
2. See 1
3. They usually want a “long form” birth cert (which has space for both parents names.

Dear Simon
I m Linda , the main applicant and I entered my husband as secondary applicant , I filled the DV form wiith my family name and given name , I did the same in the name as passport box with my given name and family name , But I came to realize that in my passport my name includes my marital name , like my family name + EP (husband family name ) , missing the inclusion of my martial name as it is in my passport in dv form -passport name , would that be problematic in case later on or it is negligible error human mistake ?
Thank you
November 13, 2021 at 17:04
You should complete the DS260 with your current legal name (married name) and the maiden name goes in another section.

Hi BritSimon
I won the lottery in 2019 at the time of winning I was on a work contract so went over to activate my visa for a day and then came back to Australia. I have not been back since then because of my work contract extending and covid meaning timelines have been extended further and travel not permitted. Will I be able to use my greencard still? Or has too much time passed since the day I was there to activate it? I have the greencard with me in Australia and would like to use it but am unable to get over until next year. Is there anything I can do? I don’t have any kind of ‘life’ set up there yet as I was planning on going once my contract ended in 2020 and then covid hit.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
November 13, 2021 at 17:14
YOu will need to apply for an SB1 visa from your local embassy.

HI britt!
My University certificate says I finished attending on June 29th, 2018. But the certificate was released on July 5th, 2018.
Which date should I put as the date I finished in the DS260?
Thank you!

Either date is fine.
November 12, 2021 at 04:55
Hi Mr Simon I am AF 53k, I received email to submit documents on 7sept and I submitted on 14sept. While submitted I named my documents with 2 of my names only that is first and last following the example as stated in the email john_doe but my full names are 3 names actually. So it’s been more than 6weeks now and I still haven’t received a DQ email till this date so I don’t know if something is wrong or it’s just the regular delay at KCC do you think it is necessary to rename my documents with my full names and resend them or I send an inquiry to KCC and wait to hear from them. Thanks
November 13, 2021 at 17:18
Your case number is high so it will be a long time before they process your documents.
November 14, 2021 at 03:52
Thanks for the reply Mr Simon I do appreciate but I want to bring to your attention also that I know a winner from Af region who submitted ds on may14 case number 36k and his documents were processed within the time frame and he revived his dq already so I really wonder what is happening at KCC
November 14, 2021 at 16:41
This is totally normal and within my explanations on how cases are processed.

Hi Dear Simon,
My wife is a DV 2022 selectee and she has the case no AS85xx. We are planning to submit DS 260 before the end of this month. At the time of the original DV lottery entry, my wife had the old passport (old passport no) and then she renewed it (new passport no). Could you please tell us which passport number she should include in DS 260 form.
In addition, I submitted my passport for a renewal. So it may take another 3 months from now. Would that be ok if we include my current passport number in the DS 260 form. Thank you very much for your kind consideration.
Best,
HA
November 13, 2021 at 17:19
Use the current passport, but when you send documents send both.
Yes you can use your current passport.

Q2: if there is chance to get my case process, when did you think i might get DQ ..??
too much worry, thanks for your response
November 13, 2021 at 17:22

Hi Simon,
About Re-entry permit, can we apply for re-entry permit with IV visa or must I submit actual greencard?
I know I can use my IV visa as temporary I-551 until I receive GC but I am not sure this is a case for applying re-entry permit.
Thanks!
November 13, 2021 at 17:22
You can apply for the I-551 before getting the plastic GC
November 13, 2021 at 11:59

Hi, my Case no.: 2022AS4xxx
I hold dual citizenship as I am of Syrian origin, and I obtained Egyptian citizenship through my Egyptian husband, and currently, I reside with him in Egypt. I applied for the Diversity Visa Program as an Egyptian citizen using my Egyptian passport.
In regard to the required documents;
1- Do I have to present the Egyptian nationality certificate?
2- Which birth certificate should I include in my file? The Egyptian birth certificate or the Syrian one? Or both?
3- Do I have to notarize the documents that were issued previously in Syria in both the Syrian embassy in Egypt and the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs? Knowing that I have got my documents notarized from the Syrian ministry of foreign affairs.
I also have another important inquiry that needs to be clarified, which concerns a mismatch in my mother’s name in different documents. While filling out the DS 260 form, I wrote her name as (Iman Dib Saied Hasan), whilst in the Syrian documents it is (Iman Alsaied Hasan), and in the Egyptian documents it is (Iman Dib Alsaied).
Could this be an issue that causes a discrepancy or delay in the process of obtaining the visa?
Thanks for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
November 13, 2021 at 17:28
1. Yes
2. The one from the country of birth.
3. Follow instructions on the reciprocity page.
The mothers name issue is unimportant.
November 13, 2021 at 16:06
Hi BritSimon,
The case number is 2022EU2XX, DS-260 was submitted a little bit late in the beginning of August due to the changing of principal applicant’s marital status and adding the spouse in to the DS-260 form. There’s still no email request from KCC who asks to send them a scanned copies of documents. If we send the scanned copies of documents to KCC without their request, does it help to process the case and get scheduled for interview faster or vice versa it will harm and slow the process of the case?
Thank you ???? in advance for your response!
Abdu
November 13, 2021 at 16:52
Hi Brit hope you are doing good please am 2022AF38k I sent my DS 260 in May 28 2021 and my documents in August 2021 without being asked after reviewing my form I notice some mistakes I made:
1. Completed masters degree in December 2020 but wrote July 2021
2. At the time of submitting DS 260 I wrote unemployed but I recently got a job in this month November 2021
My question is do I have to ask KCC to unlock to correct the mistakes. Thanks so much
November 13, 2021 at 17:29
Don’t unlock. Just correct at the interview.
November 13, 2021 at 17:54
Hi Brit,
I have won DV22 and I have submitted my ds260 form but my documents have not been requested yet but I am trying to apply for an F1 students visa and there is a question that states that, “Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services? Yes or No”
Please is submitting a DS260 an immigrant petition? or it is a No at this point.
Thank you
November 13, 2021 at 19:24
A DS260 is an immigrant petition
November 13, 2021 at 19:32
Please is the DS260 filed with USCIS or it is filed with KCC? Or KCC and USCIS are the same?
November 14, 2021 at 16:39
DS260 is filed with DoS.
November 13, 2021 at 21:23
Hello simon
I am dv2022 winner from Nepal with case number 10900. And I am about to move Australia in February. As the Melbourne embassy has started to take interviews of immigrant visas, Should I choose Sydney embassy or Nepal embassy?
Where would I have better chances? Please suggest.
November 14, 2021 at 16:40
Your number is high for Nepal, meaning you won’t be current until late in the fiscal year. So it is impossible to predict which embassy will be “better” that far ahead.
November 14, 2021 at 09:11
Hi simon I have won dv 2022 .my case number is AF62xxx Is it possible to get inter view

You will need a passport to enter, yes.
November 14, 2021 at 13:26
Hi,
I am a DV2022 selectee. I’m in the late 2000s AS. I’m from Jordan.
1. I have not gotten a request of documents.
I have watched your video and I submitted my documents in august without being requested of documents.
If I submit my documents, I won’t get a request, do I?
I’m alone. I have no family with me in the case.
2. I have submitted my police certificate from another country that i have not entered since 2014. But this certificate is from 2020. I have emailed them, they told me this is a valid one you take upon your interview since you have not re-entered that country. Could this be a problem with KCC? even though I asked. I’m afraid I did a mistake here.
Thank you.
November 14, 2021 at 16:44
1. SEnd your documents.
2. It’s OK.
November 14, 2021 at 18:16
HI Simon
My wife was selected and has an interview scheduled however , I would like to ask for your expertise and your final advise please , it is an overwhelming situation ,since at the time of application she hadn t my info so she applied as a legally separated, she didn t understand the notion of it , and when she was selected she has included me in the DS260 , do you think if she goes to the interview she will be successful or rejected please and what is the impact of this on future visas applications ? thanks
November 14, 2021 at 22:00
Unless she has court documentation showing the legal separation, it is 100% certain she will be refused. The fact that she made an immigrant application could affect future non immigrant applications.
November 14, 2021 at 21:59
Hello to you sir. It is a real pleasure for me to be counted among your millions of subscribers.
I have a high CN AF54XXX. I submitted my DS260 in May and in September the KCC asked me to send the documents. Thing I did and at the end of October I received an email from KCC informing me that my file has been processed and is ready for an interview at the Embassy when my CN is current. The questions I ask myself are the following:
-1 Does it absolutely have to be that a CN is current to be interviewed? Since despite my high CN, my file has already been processed.
2- In view of the above, is my file already at the embassy of my country Cameroon or my file is still at the KCC?
November 18, 2021 at 17:36
1. Yes. That rule is unbreakable.
2. KCC
November 15, 2021 at 09:08
Dear Brit,
thanks a lot for your amazing work.
A friend of mine has wone in the DV22 and originally planned to do Adjustment of Status, which is why we submitted the DS-260 form entering USCIS as interview location.
She has now decided that she has to switch to consular processing, which is why we have contacted the KCC to reopen the DS-260 form in order to change the location of the interview.
Although the form has been reopened, the location cannot be changed.
What can we do to switch from adjustment of status to consular processing? Which steps have to be done?
Thank you so much for your help and support.
Kind regards,
Julia
November 18, 2021 at 17:37
You have to email KCC and ask them to make the change.
November 15, 2021 at 09:53
Hello Simon,
My case number is 2022AS109XX.
I wanted to ask you some questions about the next move I need to do and about my chances.
I have read your bulletin numbers from past years.
1. considering your knowledge and experience + the numbers of the previous year’s bulletin , do you think my case number has a legitimet chance to be called to an interview? is my case number high or low?
2. Do you recommend sending the DS-260 early? even tho it isn’t my turn yet?
Thank you so much
Naveh
November 18, 2021 at 17:39
1. It is too soon to be sure what will happen this year, but that number is not considered high or risky in a normal year.
2. Yes you should submit it now.
November 15, 2021 at 09:59
how are you Mr. Simon wants to send you an email. Enter your email address
November 18, 2021 at 17:39
You can ask questions here.
November 15, 2021 at 13:19
Hello Simon, how are you,
I wanted to ask you,
If I am pregnant during the green card interview, will I be released from the covid vaccine?
Thanks in advance!
November 18, 2021 at 17:41
No, of course not. If you are pregnant you should WANT the vaccine to protect you and the baby.
November 15, 2021 at 14:38
Hello Brit,
Thanks for all the support you are providing us.
I ma DV2022 winner from Algeria, my case number is 44K, i have sent my documents and received a confirmation from KCC that i am ready to be scheduled for interview. Last week I get a newborn and my question is :
I don’t know if i have to open my DS260 in order to add my newborn or wait until getting interview and add ask to add in in the consulate ? many people suggested me to wait the interview and add there, because as you might now KCC are focusing in the DS260 submission date and if i open my DS260 i will delay my case 🙁
Many thanks for your support
November 18, 2021 at 17:43
First, your case number is quite high so you have MONTHS to wait before any interview can be held.
Second, the people telling you to wait until interview to add your child are idiots. Unlock and add the child – the sooner the better.
November 15, 2021 at 14:44
Hi simon
My name is Mky, Dv2022 winner from Ethiopia CN AF355XX with 4 of my families from. Currently the Ethiopian government and US government relationship is getting worse ; Because of that right now the US embassy in Addis Ababa is only providing emergency visa cases for US citizens. It’s very frustrating for Ethiopia’s who won the DV Lottery. Here is my question:
1. If I change my interview location, Can I travel and make the interview only for me? (B/c you know that it’s very expensive to travel with four of my families into another country?
2. Should I have to reserve a permanent residence address in the country that I plan to be interviewed? or just a temporary hotel address of that country?
Please sir, i need your brief suggestion and to tell me what i must have to do.
Thank you in advance.
November 18, 2021 at 17:45
1. If you are able to get an interview somewhere else you should take the family. They need to interview with you.
2. In order to change your embassy, KCC may ask you to update the address to a real address.
November 15, 2021 at 15:44
Dear Brit, just want to appreciate you once more Sir, for your help on this Plat form. I am Dv 2021 CN 25***AF. All our green cards and social security are out within the space of one month. My husband and two kids. Thanks for your help God bless u Sir.
November 18, 2021 at 17:46
That’s cool. Best of luck in the USA!
November 15, 2021 at 15:54
Hi Simon, DV2020 selectee here. I got married and got a child since submitting DS-260. How do you suggest I handle this situation? Thanks!
November 18, 2021 at 17:47
You will have to wait until KCC start processing DV2020 cases. Accept any interview you can get and then negotiate with the embassy to add your spouse and child.
November 15, 2021 at 15:55
Hello mr Simon. Case Number EU 11K. Do you think that KCC is working with DV 2022 documents. In february my number will be current. DS 260 in july first and send documents without asking i september13, I think that I am simple case. I read what you wrote in twiter about lawsuits. Do you think that I must be in lawsuits. When will be the moment?? Thank you
November 19, 2021 at 22:47
At this point there is no one who MUST be in a lawsuit. KCC are working on DV2022, but slowly. I suggest you be patient for a while.
November 15, 2021 at 18:16
Hello sir,
I hope you are doing good!
I am one of the 2022dv winners from Afghanistan with 1500 case number.
I had chosen US Embassy – Kabul, but after emailing KCC and updating my new address in Ds-260 I was finally able to change it from Kabul to US Embassy in Mumbai.
I have basically two questions.
My first question is that I have submitted and sent documents without being asked. So is there anything else I should do? Or should I only wait?
My second question is
According to you and based on my case number and everything and the information you have when will I be scheduled for interview?
And also I don’t know anything about lawsuit but do you think I should join?
Thank you in advance!
November 19, 2021 at 22:48
For now you just need to wait.
November 15, 2021 at 19:15
Hi Brit
I’m Mawuli from Ghana, a dvlottey winner with case No. 2022AF182XX as a single entry but I got married early this year January and I want to add my wife as a derivative in filling out the ds 260 but i unfortunately make a mistake by adding a different name which am very confuse now so am asking if I can update the name whiles filling the ds 260 application or is going to affect me even if I changed the name in filling out the ds 260 or is there anyway I can remove the derivative and add it again or leave that derivative blank and add a new one please. Please kindly advice me on that

You cannot delete the derivative you added. So – either edit that one or add a new one and leave the “bad” record unsubmitted.

Hello BritSimon,
I have a question regarding the outcome of the Rai V Biden case. With regards to DV2021, do I stand a chance to benefit from the case ruling as a resident of an EU country and having also selected a US embassy in EU as my venue for the interview? Thank you
November 19, 2021 at 22:50
Yes – if you are DV2021, DQ, and allocated to one of the affected embassies, you could stand a chance when the Rai cases get processed. I will be publishing instructions about that soon.

Abdu

There is no harm in sending documents early – so go ahead and do that.

Helllo sir,
Do I need to apply for grenn card in USCIS office while I have diversity visa.
November 19, 2021 at 22:52
No – once you enter (and have paid the $220 fee) your GC is automatically produced.

Hi dear Simon,
I am a DV2021 selectee who was in Goodluck and did not get a Visa before September 30. I am currently applying for an F-1 student Visa, but my DV case when I check on CEAC is still on file I believe due to the lawsuits (?).
Do you think this can have any negative effect on my F-1 application due to the previous “immigration intent” even though the period is over?
Thanks as always.

Having submitted a DS260 is one factor that could be considered, and that might make the F1 process a little harder, but not impossible.

Hi I have friends and their case is 73××. They received an email for supporting documents and they sent everything to KCC, but in the meantime they sent an email to KCC for unlock their ds 260 because they have a newborn child and they wanted to add on their application. They received an email in the middle of October that their DS is unlocked (they wait 1 month for unlocking) and they made all changes and subbmited again ( in Octobar). So, my question is when they can receive their 2NL for the interview appointmant because now come the new bulletin for december interviews. Thank you

Everyone is being delayed – so they need to be patient.

Hello Mr Simon…
I hope you doin well.. & Wish you Good Health
Im Iraqi , DV2022 AS000199xx, If I GET DQ, may I change the embassy? you know Iraqi in a hole of suspending visas,, many time i sent email to KCC but same auto reply came, is there another way to change embassy?
Thank you Sir
November 19, 2021 at 22:56
The embassy is chosen by KCC based on your home address. So – if you want to change embassy you may need to provide a new address in some other country. However, it will be months before your case number is current so you should wait and see how things progress.

Hi, Brit
I entered the US on Oct 30th. I had a change of address at the port of entry (I had stated in DS 260 an address in California but changed that to Georgia at the POE). I am still in the dark about how to apply for my green card. Do I need to fill in the I-485 form?
November 19, 2021 at 22:57
If you had a valid DV visa and have paid the immigrant fee you simply wait for the GC.
November 16, 2021 at 16:41
Hi there. I think you may have answered this before however I cant locate. When doing AOS you definitely can’t submit paperwork to USCIS until your visa number? I thought I’d read somewhere sometimes they might process. We are OC 7xx. We missed out on last year’s due to processing time at USCIS. OC numbers are limping along as still only at 600.

You can take advantage of “early filing”. So as soon as the VB is published that shows your number will be current, you can file. So – let’s say your ,case number is in the next VB for February interviews, you could submit the I-485 immediately after that VB is published.

Hello simon
My case number is 9764 from Nepal.
I already got DQ mail.
Is there any advantage of early DQ after my case number becomes current?
November 16, 2021 at 19:45
1) After all the cases becomes current, the cases number doesn’t matter. – is it right?
2)after all the cases becomes current, 2nl comes according to DQ date or case number order?
November 19, 2021 at 23:01
1. Correct.
2. DQ date.
November 19, 2021 at 23:00
Not really.

I could not access my email for a very longtime and I just saw an email of my 2017 dv lottery win. Is it too late for me to access the win, please advise me.
November 21, 2021 at 17:59
Yes it is too late.
November 21, 2021 at 18:02
And by the way, they do not send emails to winners – so that might have been a scam.
