November 21, 2021 at 19:07
Why do you have an AS number?
November 25, 2021 at 19:27
Hi Simon sir
I am 2022AS28000 from Kabul Afghanistan
1 some people say once KCC have processed your documents then you cant change your embassy , is that trough ?
2 is there any time limit for changing our embassy ?
3 I am selectee from Afghanistan as you know here is no US embassy anymore and I am still waiting while some of us have changed their interview location to Pakistan . please advise me , should I also change to Pakistan or I should wait ? / note KCC is only changing cases to Pakistan with the reason that selectee has moved to Pakistan and is living there and they wont change with any reason other than this / for this reason some of selectees are telling lie to KCC that they are in Pakistan while they are not
November 26, 2021 at 20:22
1. No
2. Before you are DQ AND current. Because of your high number that means a LONG time from now.
3. Wait for now – the situation could change over the coming months.

Hi Brit, DV 2022AF15xxx i have 5derivatives but one will not accompany us. all the ds 260s are complete but his show incomplete as we had started filling it but you advised that we shouldnt. When kcc come to our case will they consider it complete? i mentioned in my ds 260 that he will not accompany. we are waiting for DR and i just want to make sure my case shows complete on KCC side. DS submitted in May, reopened and resubmitted in Aug. thank you…
November 21, 2021 at 19:07
You can email KCC to clarify.
November 24, 2021 at 06:15
Hi Nyako
Would you mind letting us know what the response was from KCC please? We have a similar situation and one of the dependent applicants (daughter) will not be going with us. We started with her application due to the fact that she was under 21 and living with us and we were informed that she’s not intending to join us in the U.S. I’ve asked KCC to remove her application but they informed me they cannot do that (very generic reply) So I’ve got the same question, if we do not submit her application but all the other applications (including principal) were submitted, will KCC still proceed with the processing of the case?
Thank you
Jacob
November 26, 2021 at 19:43
Yes they will process the case with an unsubmitted derivative.
November 21, 2021 at 20:39
Hi Brit, I’ve got my temporary immigrant visa glued into my passport for the next 6 months, I know I need to enter the country within this time in order to validate my status and get the card sent to the US address I had provided. I am going for holiday soon, we usually need an ESTA when going to the states from the UK but am I correct in thinking I don’t need this as I have my temporary visa thing in the passport?
November 21, 2021 at 21:07
Correct. When you next travel to USA you will activate your status.
November 21, 2021 at 21:20
Hi Simon
A month ago, I sent an email to the Kentucky Consular Center, an email to change the location of my interview. Currently, I have had force majeure circumstances that prevent me from traveling. How can I meet in my first embassy?
November 21, 2021 at 21:44
You will need to contact KCC again.
November 21, 2021 at 22:08
Hi Sir,
In the ds260, i put the marriage date May, 8 but found on the translated document written May, 9 so the difference is only one day. This happened because officially we dont use Gregorian dates and i had to converted via the internet. Do i need to unlock or change the translated doc to match it?
November 21, 2021 at 23:50
No. It doesn’t matter.
November 22, 2021 at 06:16
Hi Simon,
I am DV 2022 winner with AS85xx. Is it too late or early to submit DS 260 now?
Please let me know.
Many thanks
November 22, 2021 at 20:31
Submit.
November 22, 2021 at 22:11
Thank you very much!
November 22, 2021 at 06:57
Hello Simon,
How much time in advance DV winners usually get informed about the interview time and date by the 2NL? Is it possible that there can be exceptions? We’re asking because our friends (DV2021 winners) got notified about the interview time only a couple days in advance. We are DV2022 winners case number EU3***, submitted DS260 at the end of July and sent the documents without being asked at the end of August, without any answer yet. Because everything is delayed we are considering to temporarely move to Australia, but our interview should be schedulled in Lithuania, so we don’t want to miss the interview and loose the chance to get a green card by not being apparent in Lithuania at the moment and not being able to return on time for it.
November 22, 2021 at 20:32
It is normally 6 to 8 weeks, but there were exceptions in the final days of DV2020 and DV2021 because of lawsuits.
November 22, 2021 at 07:13
Hello Sir, I am DV2022 Winner and I got the email of my document confirmation so I selected Kabul Consulate of USA now there isn’t any consulate will KCC change my interview consulate or I should email it.
November 22, 2021 at 20:32
Contact KCC and ask them to change.
November 22, 2021 at 07:25
Hi !! Is it okay to travel overseas while processing ds260? Do we need to unlock the form and update or can we do that at the interview? We haven’t received DR yet.
November 22, 2021 at 20:33
You can travel, and there is no need to update in normal circumstances.
November 22, 2021 at 08:20
Sir, My CN is 2022AS3***. I submitted my DS 260 on 16.08.2021 and sent my documents to KCC without getting DR on 08.10.2021. I didn’t get a DR or DQ email yet.
a) Shall I inquire about my case from KCC?
b) What can I write in my email?
November 22, 2021 at 20:33
a. No – be patient.
November 22, 2021 at 09:52
Hi Simon, DV22 from Ethiopia currently I don’t think that i can a get chance being interviewed in Addis Ababa, US embassy. So in which neighborhood US embassy do u suggest to me to change.
Thanks
November 22, 2021 at 20:34
You should decide which embassy you could travel to – and ask KCC to change to that embassy.
November 22, 2021 at 12:49
Hey Simon!
EU19xxx here, DQ on 23rd of September. I have a question regarding the interview:
– What happens when my number becomes current? Will KCC automatically send my case to the embassy (Madrid in my case)? Who programs the interviews, KCC or the embassy? Is there a guarantee of an interview if I’m already DQ and the embassy is up and running? (especially considering the removal of the prioritization scheme)
Thank you!
November 22, 2021 at 20:39
KCC schedule cases. There are no guarantees – but I don’t think Madrid will have many cases waiting.
November 22, 2021 at 14:21
Hey Simon,
I’m 2021 winner, with the case number around 6900, I’ve sent my ds-260 very late (in august) and never got the second approval email which is the one that says its complete and wait for interview, so due to recent news about cases who suffered from COVID 19 may still have a chance, can I hope that they may still process my ds-260 and give me interview?
Thank you
November 22, 2021 at 20:40
Yes.
November 22, 2021 at 16:46
Hi Brit Simon
Please I have a worry I submitted ds260 on May 14 and got DR on 7 September. I sent documents on 15 septmeber. I made a mistake and sent an inquiry to kcc using the email for docs and got an automated response your email was received but no documents attached could be found then I sent another email same day but this time around to the right email and got and automated response saying the Kentucky consular center has received your email this is on the 12 of November. Then on the 15 of November I got a reply for KCC saying my documents where received and I should allow time for processing. Sir today 22 November I received DQ email and about 1hour later I rveievd DR email again just same like the first dr email on September 7 word for word so I am really confused as of what to do. Do you think I should email KCC to inquire why they sent another Dr and receiving DQ? Or it is okay not to panic.
November 22, 2021 at 20:41
No need to panic.
November 22, 2021 at 17:11
Hi Brit, how are you doing? I have a concern. I submitted my supporting documents (passport biometric page, police clearance certificate and others) some time ago but just now I have received an email from KCC about the instructions for submitting the required documents. Could it be that they haven’t checked the documents I sent or do they need me to resubmit (is it advisable)? Better-still, can you advice on what I should do?
Regards
November 22, 2021 at 20:42
You probably just need to be patient.
November 22, 2021 at 19:11
Dear Simon,
What if KCC will never reach those cases that are submitted on August, September,…? Is that possible?
I mean, it’s been 6 month and they didn’t even finished May submissions…
November 22, 2021 at 20:46
Because they stopped working for nearly 4 months. Calm down.
November 22, 2021 at 19:30
hi, is it okay to travel overseas while processing ds 260? Do we need to unlock form or can we update this at the interview?
November 22, 2021 at 20:46
Update at the interview.
November 22, 2021 at 20:27
Hi Simon, I’m a 2022 winner and my case number is around 10000, we currently live in Iran, and since we don’t have a US embassy in Iran, we had 3 options to choose when submitting our DS-260: Armenia, Emirates and Turkey. We chose Armenia since it was the safest option at the time. Now, we know that the embassy at Armenia doesn’t doing well with giving appointments to lottery winners, and lottery winners are their last priority at the moment. We can request to change our embassy to Emirates but that works only if we have Emirates residency. We are now considering applying for Emirates residency (considering all the investments needed for this process), so we can request KCC to change our embassy from Armenia to Emirates. But we don’t know if that will have a bad influence on our case. What do you think id the best option for us: 1- applying for Emirates residency with all the investments needed, and then request change embassy from Armenia to Emirates. or 2- Keep Armenia as our embassy and wait to see how it will go.
Thank you so much!
November 22, 2021 at 20:47
I can’t advise you on that – you need to make your own decision.
November 22, 2021 at 20:37
Thank you BritSimon for your guidence to complete our successful DV process.
God bless you..
November 22, 2021 at 21:10
Hi brit
If a husband divorces a wife, does it affect his case? Can the husband bring the children with him? (The husband is the principal applicant)
November 22, 2021 at 21:13
In your example the husband could continue, but would probably need to show he had full custody of the children or agreement that he could take the children to the USA.
November 22, 2021 at 21:55
Hi brit i hope you doing well.
I send a check status for my Case and kcc respond me with this Email it’s that mean i have soon DQ without asking for DR ?
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.
The Kentucky Consular Center has received your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed.
November 26, 2021 at 18:30
Yes – they said they have your documents, so in your case they didn’t send your DR or they sent it and you missed it somehow.
November 22, 2021 at 22:15
Dear Mr. Simon,
I am DV 2022 winner and I am currently I live in USA under student visa (more than 5 years in USA). So, I am planning on AOS directly without visa processing. Do, I still have to get a police report from my home country to process my DV lottery application.
Thank you!
November 26, 2021 at 18:33
No
November 22, 2021 at 22:27
Hi Sir,
I submitted my ds260 application 2 days ago, signed it and got the confirmation number and will send the documents by next week:
1. I re-logged in the form after submission and found some fields are locked and others left adjustable is that ok?
2. I haven’t received any email confirming my submission … Be patient?
3. Does this late submission will affect my chances rather than if i submitted it earlier?
CN AS17900
November 26, 2021 at 18:34
1. If the form says completed, it is locked.
2. Don’t even worry about that.
3. Probably not.
November 22, 2021 at 23:11
Hi Brit,
I read your post on the first year of having the DV Visa and travelling after activation. Was that in regards to just the first initial absence being allowed upto 12 months? Or if I make multiple month long absences in my first year is that ok? As in I was in the US in for a few weeks after activation then Europe for a couple months, then back to the US for 2 months now going to Australia for a few months could I risk losing my residency being out of the US more than I’ve been in the first year?
November 26, 2021 at 18:36
Each absence would be ended when you return. It’s not a cumulative thing. However, at some point of continued absences they could decide you are using the GC as a visitors visa and they could refer you to an immigration judge.
November 22, 2021 at 23:25
Hi Simon,
I watch your last video in youtube and you talk about self funding for DV lottery,
Why the state of gov make our payment visa fees with DS-260 submitting online.
this will help DV winner and processing all case.
i hope you can deliver the idea or talk about that in your next video, because your voice will be heard by the GOV.
Thanks.
November 26, 2021 at 18:36
That would be a really bad idea – so no, I won’t be suggesting it.
November 23, 2021 at 02:21
Dear Simon,
Thanks for all your help during DV process.
It is the first I enter the US with my green card. I would like to ask if my passport should have more than 6 months validity?
Thank you
Zara
November 26, 2021 at 18:37
It should, yes.
November 23, 2021 at 06:03
Hi BritSimon,
Firstly, I greatly appreciate all your efforts and guidance that you provide to the DV winners over the years, specially providing the insights on the law suites, etc. Thank you.
I’m a DV22AS21xxx selectee from Sri Lanka and have submitted my DS260 on May 22nd. I have been in the UAE & Oman previously for employment and now back in my home country. I have a habit of paying attention to details (maybe a bit too much ????) and seek the below mentioned clarifications.
1. I was able to obtain the UAE police clearance report from Dubai Police from their e-services directly to my email within couple of hours from application, which is valid only for 3 months.
a. Do I need to attest this document from the UAE Embassy in Sri Lanka before I submit it to KCC or to the US Embassy in Sri Lanka during the interview?
b. The UAE’s Police clearance report is valid only for 3 months, but I understand that KCC & US Embassies accept this document post 2 years since expiry, as I have not retuned to the UAE. Please confirm?
2. I was able to obtain the Oman police clearance report seeking the help of a friend in that country and I have it certified by the Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Muscat as well, so it is valid to use outside the country.
a. Is there any additional attestation that need to be done to this document before I send to KCC or provide it to the US Embassy in Sri Lanka during the interview? Maybe the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman or the Oman Embassy in Sri Lanka. It was hard to obtain these documents and I don’t want to miss-out on any other details.
3. My Sri Lankan police clearance is due anytime soon.
a. Do I need to attest this document by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs before submitting the report to KCC or the US Embassy in Sri Lanka during the interview?
4. The birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc. issued in Sri Lanka are in Sinhala, and I already have an English translation which I used for UAE & Oman with relevant attestation.
a. Can I use the same document to submit to KCC or the US Embassy in Sri Lanka during the interview or get new translations done and have them attested by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs before submission?
5. Do I need to attest my UK & Ausi certificates/degree from respective Embassies/governing bodies before submitting to the US Embassy in Sri Lanka during the interview?
6. During the interview at US Embassy in Sri Lanka, I understand we need to submit a copy of documents i.e., work experience, education qualifications, marriage certificate, etc.
a. Do I need to attest the copies from a notary public?
b. Do I need to attest the copies by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
November 26, 2021 at 18:41
Wow – this is far too much detail! Don’t do this.
1a. Read the instructions.
1b. Waste of my time.
2. Read the instructions.
Ok – I am bored with this.
You are asking over and over again about attestations. Read the instructions. Follow the instructions.
Please respect my time. This could have been asked way more simply!
November 27, 2021 at 20:27
Being in this part of the world, all & any document need to be notarized or attested when submitting to any foreign authorities, thus the confusion. I greatly appreciate your work and time dedicated for the DV winners. Could you please share the instruction link that your referring too. Thank you.

Hi Simon.
Just curious. Will photo on the greencard will be what I submit at consular office when I get interviewed or photo which will be taken at the border?
Thanks.
November 24, 2021 at 15:22
of all the worries associated with the DV program is this your utmost worry?
November 23, 2021 at 17:04
Hi Simon,
2022AS20***. Nationality is Egyptian though and interview in Cairo, Egypt.
1. Do I become current when Asia is gets to 20*** or when Africa gets to 20***?
2. Any idea of when i’ll be current? Submitted DS260 May 10, 2021 and got ready for scheduling (DQ) email September 28, 2021.
I have an AS number because i was born in Saudi Arabia. I tried to reply to your comment on my above post but it didn’t let me, that’s why i;m posting again.
Thanks!
November 24, 2021 at 14:31
You fall under ASIA not Africa.
November 26, 2021 at 18:49
OK – your interview is based on your AS region case number, not Africa.
Your number is relatively high, so expect a long wait.
November 23, 2021 at 19:25
Hi Brit;
After submitting my DS260, I received an email from KCC saying that my documents will be processed and it will take 4-6 week. After 6 week I sent KCC an email inquiring about my documents. and I received the email below.
I am confused, as in the first part of the email it says documents received and in the second part it says that they did not receive my documents.
Thank you so much for the help.
Bigin KCC Email
” Thank you for your inquiry.
Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check dvprogram.state.gov.
The Kentucky Consular Center has not received your documents. In order to continue processing your case, all documents should be submitted as attachments to your email to ensure they are properly received. We ask that you use the following method to name and attach your files: • Your DV case number; • The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; and • The document name or form number. For example: 2023AF00938653_John_Doe_Passport.pdf 2023AF00938653_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address. Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case. “
November 26, 2021 at 18:51
First, FORGET the 6 weeks – it’s not accurate.
The email does NOT say your documents are received. You misread it.
December 8, 2021 at 00:50
My bad, I did not attach the first email I received from KCC when I first submitted my documents. Here it is.
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received your email and is currently processing your documents. This email address, [email protected], is only used for applicants to provide the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) with documents required to continue processing Diversity Visa applications. [email protected] does not respond to inquiries. If you have any Diversity Visa related questions, please email [email protected] with your case number, complete name, and date of birth, as entered on your original entry.
Document processing generally takes 3-6 weeks. Please give us time to complete that process before sending questions about your application.
So, does the KCC have my documents received as they mentioned in that email.
Or did they not received them as they mentioned in the following emails responding to my inquiry?
Thank you so much
December 10, 2021 at 06:13
Everything changed today – documents are no longer needed.
November 23, 2021 at 20:18
Dear brit.
I am a dv2021 winer
As25xxx
I want to ask.
1-How would BBB affect dv2021 non plaintiffs.
2- i contracted the covid 19 virus. Whould this help me?
If yes, how
November 26, 2021 at 18:52
1. If passed in current form the BBB bill would make unused visas from DV2020 and DV2021 available, along with some Muslim ban impacts from earlier years.
2. Of course not.
November 24, 2021 at 05:40
Thanks Brit You are a gift from God we DV 2022 winners nobody cares about us I hope you find some way to protect us it is clear that we are damaged by now your last video was an alarm.
secondly I hope we all winners who benefited from your work should regularly support you financially when we enter USA and that a commitment I hope all do to help the next winners
November 24, 2021 at 07:50
Hello mr. Simon, Thank you for your support and help to have a smooth DV application. My name is Clan Chief, I am a DV 22 winner, i have asked you also in your Ytube channel about what im going to ask again and i thank you a lot about your reply. I have completed my DS on May 11, and on Aug 13 i have received DR from KCC. On Aug 16 i submitted my documents and since then i heard nothing from KCC. Till when i raise a Inquiry and asked them about my case, their response was they have not received my documents. Since then, i have send them 3 more times, and received the same response after Inquiry KCC. I have triple checked my Email Subject, PDF size (11 files 21mb in total) and email address. In the last email i have also reduced the size of the file to 6mb, but the response was the same.
Based on your response i have to check them because i have done something wrong, but i do not find any mistake. Could you please have a look? I am attaching the email and what i have sent to them to the forum (https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2022-all-selectees-consular-processing-cp.344333/post-2575254).
Thank you one more time best regards
November 26, 2021 at 20:03
I suggest you stop doing things. Just wait. Your case number is not current yet. Be patient.
November 25, 2021 at 01:01

November 25, 2021 at 08:24
Hi Ahmed
When did you submit your ds-260?
November 26, 2021 at 20:05
If your documents are genuine, and you are DQ, why are you continuing to worry? Stop overthinking.
November 25, 2021 at 13:57
Hello Simon,
I’m winner of dv22 , I send the ds260 on 22 May, my Ds260 has been reopened on 12 august after 2 months for my request. Since I resumit my ds 260 I didn’t receive any other instruction.
I thought they were processing the DS260 by the first date of submitting the ds260 but it’s not the case for me, then it appear that we are many seeking from the same issue , they didn’t proceed us such others who didn’t reopened the DS260.
it makes us so worried about the delay or either start believing that they passed us and they will not return to our case because others who just re-opened their Ds260 on September and November are processed and getting the Document request Mail,
is there anything we can do ?
November 26, 2021 at 20:19
Just be patient. The idea ” they passed us and they will not return to our case” is nonsense.
November 25, 2021 at 15:02
Hi Simon
Can my Brother who is a resident of USA (H1B Visa) fill the i-134 or does it have to be a GC/Citizen?
I am not able to find anything about that easily.
2022AS12xxx
DQ – 18.11.2021
Embassy: Manama
November 26, 2021 at 20:19
Citizen/resident is best.
November 25, 2021 at 15:33
Hello simon
I am about to move to Sydney on 12th December on as student visa.
1) Should I change interview location by emailing KCC or I must unlock DS260?
2) can I update my current location during interview?
Case- AS11600
Already DQ.
November 26, 2021 at 20:17
1. Unlock DS260
2. Well you need to change to that embassy – right? So no.
November 25, 2021 at 17:04
Thought I’d give an update for those interested and also ask a question.
DS-260 submission: 15 May 2021
Documents submission (without a request from KCC): 6 Sept 2021
DR: 16 Sept 2021
Documents submission (2nd time, after DR): 18 Sept 2021
DQ: 15 Oct 2021
Enquiry about the status of my case to KCC: 23 Nov 2021
2NL: 23 Nov 2021 (just half an hour after my enquiry)
My question is, do I need to register the appointment at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/, even if the 2NL says that an interview has been scheduled at a specified date? Because I tried, but I keep getting a message saying that my case number is not ready for an appointment. The website also says that I have to wait for 5 business days as the system may not have been updated with the appointment. Just want to make sure that I’m not missing anything.
Thank you once again for your help.

You only need to register with the system – you do NOT need to book another appointment – so choose the correct option.

Thanks Simon. The thing is that the letter from KCC does not direct me to the website for a registration, I only tried to do it because I read it in your previous correspondence with other people. Out of all the options, I chose “I have received a letter/email to register or schedule a DV lottery visa appointment”.
Is there an email to which I can send you a copy of my 2NL so you can have a look? Sorry for being a pain in the a**, I would have asked the embassy but they don’t answer any phone calls and it takes them ages to reply to emails.

There are country specific instructions available from the main instructions. Read and follow those. The 2NL is generic.

Will do that. Thanks a lot.

Hi Brit
I’m a 2022 Lottery winner. My niece is 15 and she has lived with me since she was 3 yrs old and lost her parents in a car crash. Even she is know as my child in family and public, but because of of Islamic low of adoption, I have not been abled to receive any legal adoption document. My dad is her Natural Guardian and even he was agreed to pass the adaption to me but court of Iran refused my request. I added her name to my entree form. Would you please let me know what is the best for me to complete the DS-260 form. She is already in my account as a clild and I can not remove her.
Thank you.

This represents a risk of denial to your case. You added a derivative as your child, when in fact that is not true. You do not submit the DS260 for that child and you would HOPE to not be denied at interview based on the lie. However, if you have actually been the parent for the past 12 years how could you leave for the USA knowing that you cannot take her with you? Perhaps it is better to forget the DV win.

Hi dear simon,
I’m a little bit confused to unlock my Ds260 once again for the 2nd time.Would really appreciate your thoughts on this.
I am Dv22AS around 8k, submitted my ds on
22 sep and then had to unlocked on 12th Nov to edit afew things and re-submitted on16th Nov.
The mistake i made is putting my current address month starting from Nov which is a non home country where I’m residing as a student and gonna have my interview there, thinking that i could make it back before the end of this Nov. Yet for the time being I’m in my home country for a vacation and couldn’t get flights before Dec 4th.
Shall I unlock my Ds once again to make my current address as accurate as my arrival or its not a big deal I can put it from Nov and i enter in Dec !!
Thanks alot,
Appreciate you

Hi Mr Simon
Im Dv 2022 winner, my case number is AS8xx and my ds-260 submission date is May 27th and did not yet receive Dr email from Kcc, whereas some one got 2NL with case number AS3XXX and interview scheduled for January 20, so he will go to the interview before me with lower case number, is that normal?

Yes

Hello dear Simon,I am winner of lottery 2022,my case number is around 880 from iran and I submitted in October, When asked at ds260 if you used another name, I answered no because I thought it is about first name but my surname has changed for 11 years but at now I don’t have document with previous surname all of my documents is new, what should I do?
November 26, 2021 at 22:51
Your name is an important thing, and as an Iranian there is already an expectation that they will do additional checks. So – I recommend you unlock and correct your DS260.

Hello Mr. Simon
I wrote my middle name with my last name in first entry but I corrected it in DS-260, does this could be a problem?? or I should use it as it’s (but it’s long name since middle and last together as surnames)??

Hello Mr. Simon,
I was a selected winner in the DV2022 lottery. I am European and my inteview has been scheduled for January 2022.
Assumming everything goes well and I get my visa, I plan to avtivate it by travelling asap. However, I plan to permanently move in the US in 2023, because my girlfriend will apply to join an MBA program in 2023 and I would like for us to move at the same time.
I am planning to be honest with the consular officer during the interview and tell them that (a) I will acticate my visa asap, (b) I will travel once again in the US after activating the visa before one year has passed since the activation and (c) I will move permanently in 2023.
Is it frowned upon if I tell them I am planning to move next year or is it better to be totally honest?
Thank you in advance for the help!
November 27, 2021 at 17:00
In the interview you only answer the questions you are asked. There is no need to discuss all those plans.
November 29, 2021 at 23:24
Hello, can you tell us approximately the CN, and country and when you summit doc, tx
November 27, 2021 at 16:50
No problem. The DS260 should be accurate.
November 27, 2021 at 11:07
As a DV LOTTERY winner, if you include your newborn in your DS-260 and select that he is coming later to join you, will you get any document that will make it easier for him to join you later? If no, then why do they ask whether the child will immigrate later to join you? AF35k
November 27, 2021 at 16:54
No. If you don’t include the child in the DV process you will have to go through a family sponsored process which is slow, complex, and more expensive.

Hello Mr.Simons
Im Iraqi DV2022AS19XXX … I have DQ from 12 of Nov, But my Embassy Of Interview Baghdad many time i contacted KCC but they dont change .
my Questions are
1- how can I change?
2- Is this OK for me Soon im DQ?
3- Is Its time for me to fill with my sponsor Form I-134?
thank you
November 27, 2021 at 16:57
You have a long time to wait because of your number so you don’t have any reason to need to do this “now”.
1. KCC usually change locations because of a change of address to another country. However, in time they may make better arrangements for closed embassies.
2. You still have to ait until ciurrent which will be months from now.
3. No. Do that when you get the 2NL
November 27, 2021 at 12:34
Hello Simons
US Embassy in Iraq Write on Their Website :
Immigrant Visas
If your initial immigrant visa interview was scheduled to take place at U.S. Embassy Baghdad after January 1, 2020, or if your interview was not yet scheduled, your visa application will be reassigned to another post. Please note that U.S. Consulate General Erbil is not an immigrant visa processing post. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to severely affect the ability of embassies and consulates around the world to be able to resume routine visa services.
Is This Above paragraph Need to Iraqi Selectee To warried?
thank you sir
November 27, 2021 at 16:58
Well there is obviously concern because of the closed embassy, yes.
November 27, 2021 at 13:19
Hello sir,
I am one of the dv winners from Afghanistan with 1400 case number. I also changed my interview location from Kabul to Mumbai.
When do you think I will get interview after prioritization is removed?
Thank you in advance!
November 27, 2021 at 17:00
I don’t know.
November 27, 2021 at 20:16
Hi BritSimon,
Firstly, I greatly appreciate all your efforts and guidance that you provide to the DV winners over the years, specially providing the insights on the law suites, etc.
1. I was able to obtain the UAE police clearance report from Dubai Police from their e-services directly to my email within a couple of hours from application, which is valid only for 3 months.
a. Do I need to attest this document from the UAE Embassy in Sri Lanka before I submit it to KCC or to the US Embassy in Sri Lanka during the interview?
b. The UAE’s Police clearance report is valid only for 3 months, but I understand that KCC & US Embassies accept this document post 2 years since expiry, as I have not returned to the UAE. Please confirm?
2. I was able to obtain the Oman police clearance report seeking the help of a friend in that country and I have it certified by the Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Muscat as well, so it is valid to use outside the country.
a. Is there any additional attestation that needs to be done to this document before I send it to KCC or provide it to the US Embassy in Sri Lanka during the interview?
Thank you in advance for your response.
