since I missed the 2021 application date I was wondering when can I apply in 2022 and if the country I am a citizen currently in isn’t eligible but the country I was born in is that means I’m eligible for the lottery no?
December 26, 2021 at 16:43
You are eligible because it is based on your place of birth.

Hi Britsimon.
Just like you predicted I got my 2NL this Wednesday. My interview will be on the 12 of January, next month, in the US Embassy in Suva.
So I had just got a 10 yr tourist visa to the US last year and Im just wondering if that visa will be cancelled by the CO when I go in for my interview. I did mention it in my DS 260. Do you have any knowledge about this query?
December 26, 2021 at 16:44
Yes, it will be cancelled.
December 26, 2021 at 08:52
Is 12k a high case number for Nepal-Asia?
December 26, 2021 at 16:45
Yes
December 26, 2021 at 14:42
Hi SIMON?
Why the FEBRUARY 2021 VB is removed after it was posted from the official visa bulletin pages? Are they gonna to minimize it? Is it normal?
Thanks
December 26, 2021 at 16:41
It has not been removed. The February numbers are in the “January” VB.
December 26, 2021 at 17:44
Hi Simon,
When CEAC Data comes out on Jan. 1st, will we be able to almost project exactly what number they will process up to for each region considering documents don’t need to be processed anymore, meaning hypothetically, everyone will get interviewed?
December 26, 2021 at 18:21
No. Even if we could calculate mathematically (which CEAC does help with), we cannot predict other factors such as Covid impacts, embassy closures and capacity restrictions and so on. So – I will not be doing predictions.
December 26, 2021 at 18:34
Hello Brit
Thank you so much for everything.
We have the interview at February 1 2022
I plan to prove in the interview that we wont be public charge with the job offer of an employer. how should be its procedure. What document must the employer give me to show the embassy?
Thank you for everything
December 26, 2021 at 20:05
American companies already know how to write a job offer.
December 26, 2021 at 19:37
Hi BritSimon, I just had a question concerning the I-134. I’m a 2022 Dv lottery winner and I wanted to find out if its mandatory to present an I-134 form to the CO during your scheduled interview? Because going through the required documents that were requested I did not come across any form of that sort. but reading some of the interview experiences on your website, others have made mention of submitting that form. so I’m confused if that is a requirement that I might have missed. Thanks, hope to get some feedback.
December 26, 2021 at 20:04
In most interviews there is a need to show how you will avoid becoming a public charge. That might mean showing financial statements or perhaps an I-134.
December 26, 2021 at 21:16
Hi ,
I am now filling in file ds260 There is a question about the highest level of education and I am still studying at the university.
What do I do? Do I write my high school diploma?
Or some university courses? or university no degree?
December 27, 2021 at 03:54
Some university
December 27, 2021 at 05:41
It’s asking what you currently have not what you are going to have.
December 27, 2021 at 06:39
Hello,Do we have to show Bank statement during interview to prove not to be public charge,if so what is the Amount we required as bank balance.

Hi Brits
I use the same picture of mine and my family that I used for the DV lottery 2021 for DV lotter 2022 now I am a weaner of DV 2022. Which means when I enter DV 2022 the photo that I use is just one years old. So do you think that KCC or CO will identify it and disqualify my case.
December 27, 2021 at 15:50
Probably not.
December 27, 2021 at 07:25
Hi Simon, I wanna thank you for your great work.
1- My case number is 2022as10xxx, as the process goes on by case number order, do you think that I will be sent 2NL for February?
2- is it neccessary to take the children under 10 to the interview with us ?
Thanks a lot
December 27, 2021 at 15:50
1. I don’t know
2. Usually, yes.
December 27, 2021 at 08:03
Hello Mr. Simon,
I hope you are doing well
I am DV 2022 winner from Afghanistan and my case number is 2700. I applied to DV with my old passport which had 20 days discrepancy date of birth with my education documents. After the selection I got a new passport a rectified the discrepancy date and canceled my old passport, but I kept my old one too.
I filled the DS260 based on my new passport.
Will this changes cause negative impact on my case?
December 27, 2021 at 15:51
I don’t know. Only the CO can decide.
December 27, 2021 at 09:53

December 27, 2021 at 16:00
1. Yes
2. 2NL
3. You have to wait until you are current.
4. I do not have a prediction for when that would be. It is not certain to become current.
December 27, 2021 at 11:21
Hello Brit. While filling the DS-260 I realised my passport is expired by 6 days. What do you advise?
December 27, 2021 at 16:02
Get a new one.
December 27, 2021 at 16:03

Hello dear Brit Simon
Why KCC ignored the Iraqi winners?
We have a case number less than 1k even we have 2022AS176 but unfortunately they don’t focus on the Iraqi winners here is no interview for us and i tried to change my interview location by email but KCC didn’t accept my request
December 27, 2021 at 18:17
I don’t know.
December 27, 2021 at 19:01
Hello Brit
Thank you for your help.
My interview is at first of february 2022.
I received an email from the consulate. It says you are subject to INA212(a)4. Why I am subject to INA212a4? Is this email same for everybody or a special case for me?
“”Evidence of financial support: bank account, etc or Affidavit of Support Form I-134 from a person residing in the U. S. in lawful status. It does not have to be an original document, it can be scanned, printed and presented at the interview. The evidence of financial support is not mandatory for the DV applicants, but you are subject to INA 212(a)(4). You may wish to review the information on INA Section 212(A)(4) – Public Charge””
December 27, 2021 at 21:21
This is interesting. It’s actually the most accurate way to explain it – but it ends up being a little confusing.
INA212(a)4 is about the need to satisfy the CO that you will not become a public charge. This is a general requirement that is in place for all immigration cases, DV cases included. It is not particular to your case.
The text goes on to say you need to provide evidence of savings or an I-134 and so on. It says this is not mandatory – but since the officer could refuse a case that does not provide this evidence, you should prepare as if it is mandatory.
December 28, 2021 at 22:17
Thank you Brit for the answer.
5 years ago, my husband touristic visa application was refused. Could it be related to this?
December 29, 2021 at 00:28
No
December 28, 2021 at 22:43
Doest it sound like my case is risky?
I would show bank statement and I134 form. Bank statement is a bit less than the amount you mentioned in youtube.
Do I have to search a job offer too? The interview is at first of february.
December 29, 2021 at 00:28
An I-134 is all you need.
December 27, 2021 at 20:16
Dear Simon:
First of all, I wish you and your family the best for 2022, all the health and prosperity.
CN: 2022SA000026**
I emailed KCC 1 week ago about changing my interview allocation to San Jose, Costa Rica, which is my current residency. I already updated it in my DS 260. This is the mail I sent:
Case Number: 2022SA000026**
Principal Applicant Name: *********************(My full name)
Preference Category: DV DIVERSITY
Foreign State Chargeability: CUBA
Date of Birth: **************(My date of birth)
Dear Sir/Madam:
I and my derivative ************** (wife) have changed our residencies in October 2021.
Our current residency is:
(OUR CURRENT ADDRESS DETAILED)
That is why we would like to change our interview location to the US embassy in San José, Costa Rica.
We have already updated our addresses in the DS-260 form. There is no need to unlock the DS-260 form. We were able to update the interview location for my wife as San José, Costa Rica but I could not do it in my form. Meaning we both would like to attend the interview in San José, Costa Rica. Could you please change this for us?
Thank you very much,
Regards,
They answered me this morning with this email:
Thank you for your inquiry.
Once the DS-260 for the Principal Applicant has been submitted, the Interview Location can only be updated by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). Please send your request to [email protected]. You will need to include information that explains why you need the interview location changed. Unless they are in the U.S. and adjusting status, all applicants on the case will be scheduled for interview with the Principal Applicant. You should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly to arrange separate interviews, if needed. If you need to change your interview location because your residency has changed, you will need to include the new address in your email along with your case number, Principal Applicant’s name, and complete date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY). You will also need to request that KCC unlock your DS-260, so that you can update your application with your new address. (Please note that Post Office Boxes and mailing addresses in care of another person do not justify a change of interview location.) If your interview has already been scheduled, you must contact the embassy at which you have been scheduled to determine if your case can be transferred to a different location.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center. For additional information, please refer to the following websites:
Diversity Visa Website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry.html
Diversity Visa Instructions: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-instructions.html

To enter the Diversity Visa lottery or to check for a selection notice: https://dvprogram.state.gov/
I don’t know if I missed some info in my email, or this is what they are supposed to say. I guess not.
I already contacted the US embassy in Costa Rica regarding this topic and they said KCC is the only one who can change this.
What should I do?
Thank you so much in advance,
Ana
December 27, 2021 at 21:24
You need to first of all unlock your case and change the address (presumably to Costa Rica).
Then – after you resubmit, you email asking KCC to update your interview location. Only they can do that.
December 27, 2021 at 23:48
I already unlocked my DS260 to add my wife and to update our current address, and I mention that in my email to KCC. I don’t know why they keep telling me the same thing. I believe I put all the info they are asking me:
*Case Number
*Full Name
*Date of birth
*Updated current address.
Should I call them?
Thank you in advance for your answer
December 27, 2021 at 23:59
You can’t phone them, they are not answering the phone. Email them saying you have updated your address and now you would like them to update your embassy.
December 27, 2021 at 21:56
Dear Simon,
Merry Christmas! I am confused about my DV2021 case. I was a low mid range number and there were much higher OC numbers than mine that received their card. I was originally scheduled for the interview in Sydney. Will any of the law suits help me? Unfortunately I missed the cut off and did not join any. What happens here for me? Thank you very much as always we are all so grateful for your advice.
December 27, 2021 at 22:32
There are reserved visas for people who joined the lawsuits, although that is going through an appeal process.
Other than that the ONLY chance is a piece of legislation the democrats are trying to push through, currently in the BBB bill. However, that is delayed, and does not have any certain outcome.
December 28, 2021 at 04:15
Hi brit,
When the DV 2020 interview will start?
What is the Judge decision regarding the government appeal ?
December 28, 2021 at 05:02
It will be several months before the systems will be ready to allow interviews. During that time we might know more about the appeal.
December 28, 2021 at 05:15
Do you mean no any interview is being scheduled even for 2022 or you are addressing the system for 2020?
December 28, 2021 at 05:27
The question was about 2020

Hello Mr Brit
I am a dv2022 cn AF5xxx winner I submitted my ds260 on July 17th because of the children’s passports that took a long time to get out and I wrote to kcc during the waiting period to let them know that I was waiting for the passports. Since October, when I write to them, they tell me that my file is being processed, what can I do please, we have been running since November and ready for the interview.
Thank you very much for everything you do
December 28, 2021 at 16:04
You just need to be a bit more patient.
December 28, 2021 at 14:32
Hi Brit, thanks for everything, any idea on what case number range is KCC handling now as far as DS-260 processing is concerned? #DV2022.
December 28, 2021 at 16:03
No
December 28, 2021 at 15:56
Dear Simon Brit
I am winner of DV 2022, I have question, I have been in US 3 times with J-1 visa, and then was rejected for Tour Visa. Will it influence to my DV visa application and interview ?
December 28, 2021 at 16:03
No
December 28, 2021 at 16:31
Hello Simon,
Please I’m in the same situation. I’m the winner of DV2022 for Europe, with case number 1***. I also didn’t send the documents because my lawyer thought that we should wait for the email. The email hasn’t come yet, but I sent the documents this month (December), do you think that might be a problem?
I still haven’t received any email from KCC.
Thank you,
December 28, 2021 at 17:02
Documents are no longer required. But please, stop listening to your lawyer.
January 4, 2022 at 14:49
Hello Simon,
Thank you for your response, but please what should I do now? Is it normal that I am case number 1*** and I haven’t received any email from KCC?
The only email was an automatic reply after I sent DV documents.
Thank you,
January 4, 2022 at 19:03
Just wait. If your embassy is working and has capacity, they will get to you. The new procedure has only been in for 3 weeks. PATIENCE.
January 4, 2022 at 20:45
Thank you very much Simon!
December 28, 2021 at 19:43
Thank you for your inquiry.
Based on the information you have provided, your interview location has been changed from Abu Dhabi to Casablanca. The new interview location will not appear on your DS-260, but will be used by KCC for scheduling purposes. When we have scheduled your interview, you will be required to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) to view your appointment notification. At that time, please verify that your appointment is scheduled for the correct post. If for any reason it is not, you may contact KCC again at [email protected]. You will also need to request that KCC unlock your DS-260, so that you can update your application with your new address. (Please note that Post Office Boxes and mailing addresses in care of another person do not justify a change of interview location.)
December 28, 2021 at 20:46
Hello,
Hope you had a joyful Christmas.
Once the interview had been scheduled by KCC, is it possible to change date?
If so, how?
Thank you.
December 28, 2021 at 21:05
You might be able to do that by communicating with the embassy, but in general that is not a good idea. Better to take what you are offered rather than delaying to a later date.
December 29, 2021 at 00:38
Actually it was from addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Nairobi Kenya that is why I changed the embassy in Ethiopia is not working but the kenya is working. Do you think it’s good idea.
December 29, 2021 at 20:06
Hi Yonis musse. I am Hana from Ethiopia. I want to change my interview address. Can you tell me how you changed to US embassy Nairobi, Kenya from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Is the US embassy Nairobi, Kenya accepted your requisite?
December 28, 2021 at 22:57
Hello my dear Simon how are you ? Please I got question for you.
My case number is among the lowest one AF4K. I submitted my ds260 on June 29th and forgot to add my student visa number on it ( I’ve been in US for school purpose in 2018 ).
When I noticed that mistake, I made unlock request on October and resubmitted my ds260 on November 3rd.
Now, I’m seeing people who got higher case number than mine like AF16K and submitted their ds260 late getting their 2nd letter and appointment, but I still got nothing.
I wanna know What is going on ? Is this mayor change the main cause of delay ( like forgetting to add my student visa number on the ds260 ) is affecting my case ?
December 29, 2021 at 16:27
Just be patient for a little while longer.
December 28, 2021 at 23:44
Hi Brit,
I am dv 2022 winner and my case number is AS1***. I am going to get married end of January but I have already received DQ mail telling that my case is ready to be scheduled, a few days ago. ( he couldn’t come to SL because of border restrictions in Australia due to covid)
My questions are,
1) if i get married before the interview, should I update it by unlocking ds 260?
2) Can I unlock it by then? If not what should I do?
3) Is there any risk to refuse my visa because I an going to get married, when my case is current?
Please advice me!
Thank you Brit!
December 29, 2021 at 16:28
1. Yes
2. You’ll know when you try.
3. Well you are adding a complication, getting married earlier would have been better. But it would not mean denial.
December 28, 2021 at 23:57
Hi Brit!
How do i know if my DS260 have been processed? I submited the DS260 on june 14th. My CN is 2022SA27**.
Thanks!
December 29, 2021 at 16:57
You can email KCC and ask.
December 29, 2021 at 03:16
Hi Simon, hope all is well. Successfully landed today in Boston. The officer took the envelope, made a picture and stamped my passport. Asked if the address given was correct and said congratulations. It’s an unbelievable feeling. Wanted to thank you for all you do for DV lottery winners.
December 29, 2021 at 16:58
Congratulations!!
December 29, 2021 at 08:16
Hi Simon
How would you advice AF26*** is this a high case number? Thanks
December 29, 2021 at 17:01
Not really
December 29, 2021 at 13:57
Dear Brit)
Thank you for your work !!!
I am from Russia, I asked for an interview to go to Kazakhstan.
1) Tell me Please, the number of my case ……. 9023 I sent the questionnaire 260, September 3, immediately after sending the letter I received an automatic reply that your application was accepted and will be processed within 3-6, I understand that on in fact it is much longer in time than 3-6 weeks, but how do you think from your experience, when may an invitation for an interview come, maybe February, March?
2) Maybe somewhere you can see how the queue is moving?
3) When the date for the interview comes from Kentucky, how much time do we have to go through the commission and collect all the documents?
December 29, 2021 at 17:01
1. No predictions.
2. When we get the CEAC data in a few days we will know a bit more.
3. A few weeks.
December 30, 2021 at 10:49
Thank you so much for youe answer !

Hi simon, i’m DV22 winnder AF18XXX from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Here even if our country is back to normal which is safe, still the US embassy in Addis Ababa is posting alerting security messages and they only provides emergency service for US citizens. I know it’s a political conflict between US and Ethiopia. Do u suggest me to change my interview location? I’m waiting your advice. Thank you.
December 29, 2021 at 17:08
“Back to normal” – I don’t think so!
These situations don’t normally change quickly, so another embassy would be better if you can safely travel.
December 29, 2021 at 14:30
Hello Brit
Thank you for everything.
My interview is on first of February.
Since my interview is going to be other than my home country. I had to translate all my documents to english. I am a bit worried about the translations. I didn’t make the translations noterized, only the translator wrote “the translation is accurate and I am capable to translate” and signed and sealed Is that enough? Is it now a certified translation? I cannot understand where the certification is in the document. There is a seal of the translator. The seal is in the language of my home country not in the language this country currently that I Live
What is the certification of translator? Do I need to show the translator certificate of the translator.
This text is from the answer of the consulate.
“”Translations. Any document containing foreign language submitted to USCIS shall be accompanied by a full English language translation which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator’s certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.””
December 29, 2021 at 17:09
The statement you have would normally be enough, UNLESS the reciprocity page for your country says something more is needed.
December 29, 2021 at 14:34
Hello I am DV 2022 winner from AF region with case number around 4k and I am living in Ethiopia, which the embassy is not working. Do you advice me to change my interview location?
December 29, 2021 at 17:09
That is probably wise.
December 29, 2021 at 17:26
Hi Mr Simon
Good day to you!!
Today i was having a medical checkup today. They said they suspect I might have a TB and order a checkup and the result will be sent to embassy on March 4.
The doctor said my interview appointment will be scheduled once they sent the medical result to the embassy on March 4.
My question, how long will it take the embassy to reschedule once they get the medical.
Thanks as usual.
December 30, 2021 at 00:47
Different embassies do different things – so I can’t tell you what will happen or how long it will take.
December 29, 2021 at 17:31
Hi Simon, I’m having doubts about how to go about processing my case, if through CP or AOS. My case number is high SA25XX and I already submitted my DS260 and selected an embassy as I was going to do CP.
I wanted to know if waiting till March would be too late to make that decision and inform KCC in case a wanted to go through AOS, because I’ve seen some people who tried to unlock their DS260 while they where current and ready for an interview and KCC replied they weren’t able to unlock it, and they should contact their consular section.
Could that a problem?
December 30, 2021 at 00:49
There is no aspect of the DS260 that affects an AOS case. So – if you decide to switch to AOS, just inform KCC.
December 29, 2021 at 17:44
Hi simon
As you can see from August 2021 VB there is total figure of DV2022 winners of each countery. My question is:
Is the total number of winners includes derivatives or only the main applicants?
Thanks
December 30, 2021 at 00:49
Includes derivatives.
December 29, 2021 at 19:11
Hello Mr.Simon
Happy holidays, wish you to be healthy and safe.
I’m a DV2022 winner. Recently my mother-in-law died. So now I have dilemma whether to unlock my Husband’s DS-260 to update information about his mother or not? As far as I learnt from instruction to fill the application every unplanned changes should be updated. But as it known that unlocking will affect the processing case as the date of submitting will be later, so I don’t know what way will be less harmful? thank you
December 30, 2021 at 00:50
Unlocking in this case would not cause delay, but really this does not need to be updated prior to the interview.
December 29, 2021 at 19:36
Hi Simon,
hope you had nice Holidays!
My case number is OC00006** and my interview location is in Montreal, Canada.
I have not been scheduled yet, even thought my case number has been current since January and I have received an email my interview is in the scheduling process.
Do you have any experience with Canadian embassy, do they usually take longer to process visas?
Thank you
December 30, 2021 at 00:51
Yes they have been difficult in the past. Wait and see how it goes in the next few weeks.
December 30, 2021 at 13:32
I am also in Montreal waiting for my interview. Worried about the same issue as well. Can I connect with you so I know if you receive the 2nl or whenever I receive it I let you know as well

hello Brit,
first of all thank you so much for answering so many of my questions. i was a dv winner in 2019 and iv been in the US for the past 3 years now.
I just wanted to ask if u answer questions regarding filing a petiton for spouse
December 30, 2021 at 00:51
I don’t know anything about that process.
December 29, 2021 at 23:21

Hello there Mr. Simon, sorry if am interrupting you, I do have two questions concerning the DV lottery. I’m a DV22 winner 55K AF, I was wondering if it’s a high case number and if am ever going to get interviewed or not, knowing that I am DQ’d. Second question is if i ever get a 2NL I Don’t have a sponsor in the US is it something necessary that I do need?
Thank you so much in advance and have a wonderful day.

Yes it is quite a high number, but I will not give any predictions.
Yes you should consider how you will show the CO you won’t become a public charge. An I-134 would be wise.

Hi Mr. Simon
I am in final year in high school and applied for DV2023, selection of applicants will be in may as usual and my graduation will be on July 12th,
1. Do you think I should submit DS260 in May or wait till graduation?
2. If my employment and education status change after DS260 submission, should I ask KCC to reopen the form or just wait and tell the Consular Officer?

It’s a lottery where your chance of selection is about once in 100 years. If you get selected you can ask questions then.

Hey Brit, Merry Christmas to you and your family.
QQ – is it ok if I just show the CO my bank account balance (only) or do I need to provide transaction history as well?
Thank you!

They will expect to see some history.

Hi Mr Simon, I’m DV2022 winner AF431XX from Ethiopia. The US embassy here in Addis Ababa is currently only processed emergency visa service. I need your advice sir. Thank you

You are not current yet, so you can afford to wait some weeks to see what happens.

Hello Brit hope you are doing well! I have been selected for further processing in the DV2022 Programme and I have a problem. I applied for myself, my husband and my son. But unfortunately now my husband has a problem with migrating since he got lung cancer and he is under medical procedures and also a recent job promotion so he will be migrating to the US on a later date… so brit I would like to know;
1) how I should let KCC know that my husband will not be migrating with us, is it fine for me to tell them during the interview?
2) will I still have to pay my husbands visa fees and such even though he’s not migrating?
3) also brit can I pls know if its best to tell them my husbands medical condition? Will it cause a problem to our process? Or should I tell them he received a job promotion?

You need to be clear about when you expect your husband to join you. The DV process gives 6 months validity. So if that is enough time, then include your husband in the DV process because sponsoring him later will be more complex, much slower and more expensive.
1. You should inform the embassy once scheduled.
2. No
3. If you decide not to include him, you can say he has a health condition and a career that mean he won’t be emigrating for now.

Hi Brit
When I send an inquiry email to check the status of my DS-260 form and when can I be scheduled for interview I have got below message in less than 2 hours from KCC.
My case number AF15K
—————————
“Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.”
—————————-
My Question
1. Since I am leaving in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa US embassy is closed and serving emergency case only thus from the above email should I look forward to get 2NL here in Ethiopia.
2. should you recommend me to request interview location change in one of neighboring country like Kenya.
3. If I request interview location change dose it requires me to have permanent address there.
4. Where should I tack the medical examination if the location change is approved, Ethiopia or on my new interview location.
December 30, 2021 at 16:25
1. The message means you are now allocated to the embassy. If they are not interviewing you will either not get a 2NL or you’ll get it and the embassy will cancel.
2. KCC may now tell you its too late to change.
3. Usually they ask for an address, yes.
4. You take the medical in a physician approved by the interviewing embassy.
