Dear Sir.
I’m confused. when I finish the D,S 260 for the main applicant , how do I go back to the info page where the IV application box to complete the form for the other applicants listed in the IV field? because you cant log in with case number and referent last name and year of birth?
May 10, 2022 at 23:28
I don’t know what you are struggling with. Just relax and look at the form. It’s designed to be simple.

Hi Simon,
My mom recently just got selected for the DV lottery 2023. I live and study abroad and I am not part of their application due to the age limit but I am trying to help her submitting the paperwork. Would you recommend hiring an attorney just to make sure there is no mistakes or I’m able to submit the applications online on behalf of her? Another question, on the application she put a passport number which is now expired. She has applied for a new one but I don’t know which number should be included on the Ds-260 form? Thank you in advance for your time!
May 10, 2022 at 23:37
No need to use a lawyer. It’s a simple process. She should use the current passport.
May 10, 2022 at 20:19
Hey Brit,I am a winner this year and my case number is around 50,000 and when I try to fill the DS-260 online form, it gives me this message “your request cannot be processed at this time “. Is that normal?

Hi Mr.Brit Simon
I just want to know once we submit the ds 260 we should directly send our documents to kcc or we have to wait an email from them.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards
May 12, 2022 at 16:46
I will be advising people to send documents before being asked, particularly if they have low case numbers. I was going to wait until I saw the document request being sent for at least some cases this year. But please be VERY careful to pay attention to how you send the documents.
May 12, 2022 at 18:58
Hello Mr Simon
What link can we send our documents to and what documents do they actually ask for
May 13, 2022 at 06:04
Wait for a video in a few days time.
May 10, 2022 at 21:18
Hi dear Britsimon
Can You please explain about risks of case numbers ,if mine is 31×××
As You mentioned in the video only 55000 can go ,so if every person takes for example 2 people with them it means maximum 20000 can be passed.Am I right ?
thanks for your work

Hi Simon
I am A DV2023 Winner & My case number is AS17xxx
I am from Burma(Myanmar) & the embassy is closed since Feb 2022.
I want to know that after submitting DS260, the interview location is RNG(Myanmar), can i change my interview location to BKK(Thailand). Is it possible? Most of the DV22 winner didn’t get an interview till yet, & i am worrying about my turn!
May 10, 2022 at 23:40
You are likely to not be current for a year from now, so you cannot get worried about what is happening at this time.
May 10, 2022 at 22:18
If someone is selected and has overstayed her visa by 3 months. instead staying for 6 stayed for 9 months is an issued
May 10, 2022 at 23:41
No
May 11, 2022 at 00:08
Hi Brit,
I got my visa last month after my friend sponsored me.I want to activate my card soon.
My question is: On the Ds-260 I did not request a SSN so i have to go to the office. Can I do this immediately after arriving? I will only stay a few days then end of summer want to move. And does it matter which office I go or must this be in the same state i want to live?
Thank you for your help, and have a nice day.
May 11, 2022 at 04:21
Go whenever or wherever you like.

Hi Simon,
My mom just got selected for the next step for the dv lottery 2023. She filed as married to a non U.S. citizen. During the time she applied she had a valid passport which is about to expire. She has applied for the new one but I’m not sure which passport number to put for the ds-260 form. Also I am trying to help her with the application online but unfortunately I live abroad. How would I be able to fill out for both my parents the ds-260? Thank you! I tried to do that online but it showed an error. Her case number is 2023EU0003xxxx
May 11, 2022 at 04:23
She could wait for the new passport and use that number.
https://youtu.be/NYtq7T2tiYk
May 11, 2022 at 04:30
Thank you so much for your answer. As far as her case number is it too early to apply for the ds-260? Also I wasn’t able to check how to file for my dad since she included him on the application.
May 11, 2022 at 05:08
Well you hid too much of your number, but I assume it is over 30000. You could start now, or wait some weeks. Your call. Your father will already be listed in the DS260 site, each one will complete a DS260.
May 11, 2022 at 12:45
Thank you! Apologies I meant to type 30000. If I were to put their information but on my dad’s passport birthplace is a village and then the country. Should I put the exact information as is written or do I put the city? In his original application which didn’t et selected I put the village under his birthplace. Just want to make sure this doesn’t penalize the next step.
May 11, 2022 at 14:15
Match the birth cert.

2- The question of “skilled or unskilled labor”:
I answered: NO
3- The Q of “a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States”
I answered Yes
Explain: I WILL NOT PERFORM ANY MEDICAL SERVICES UNLESS AFTER I PASS ALL THE REQUIRED EXAMINATIONS BY THE NATIONAL BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS AND RECEIVE THE REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS TO PERFORM SUCH
SERVICES.
4- The Q of “a health care worker seeking to perform such work in the United States ….etc”

They are fine.
May 11, 2022 at 02:38
Hello Simon,
I applied the lottery for my mother in law including her husband and 1 child under 18 and i didn’t include the other family member even though he was under 21 at the time of submitions because i didn’t pay attention for ages. THEY WON and have been selected. Is there a legal way to approve or add the other family member or just move on with case without adding him.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
May 11, 2022 at 04:19
They should not move on with the application at all.
May 11, 2022 at 03:49

Hi Brit.
I have stayed in different homes for each academic term during my 4 years. And each academic would be like 3/4 months. Would it be a problem if i answer NO to the question if i have ever lived elsewhere other than my present address since the age of sixteen, since i would only stay for about 4 months at each address.
May 11, 2022 at 05:08
Use your judgement.
May 11, 2022 at 04:47
Hello Mr Brit,
My passport is now expired which i have entered to the DV lottery initial application. So now when i fill the DS260, should i renew passport and enter the new information or do i need to enter old passport information since i have given that information to earlier submission?
Thank you.
May 11, 2022 at 05:09
Use the new valid passport.
May 11, 2022 at 05:03
Hello Brit,
So, I checked the Entrant Status website and was selected. My case number is 2023AS00020XXX and the country is Nepal.
But, at the time of filing and even currently, I am in the United States on F1-OPT. I learned to the best of my knowledge that I can file form I-485 for Adjustment of Status.
But, I am not sure if I can file the form now, or do I have to wait until my case number is current or less than the cut off number.
If so, then looking at the visa bulletin for DV 2022, Nepal has only reached around 5000 even now.
Would I even have a chance?
Can I file for Adjustment of Status even if my case number is high (20XXX)?
Also, your videos are really informative. Thank you for taking your time and effort into the videos and the blog.
May 11, 2022 at 05:11
You cannot file for adjustment until the case number is shown in the Visa Bulletin. Nepal numbers are normally much lower than the case numbers I have heard such as yours, so I am not sure why that is, but it suggests an over selected year (which means risk).
May 11, 2022 at 05:18
Thank you for the information. Much appreciated.
May 11, 2022 at 08:07
Dear britsimon,my father selected for dv2023 but we have a huge problem.we don’t have any host to be filled in ds260 form and to sponser us when we come to America.if you can please find us a sponser.it will be a huge help you can do for me and my family.thank you so much for this good work.
May 11, 2022 at 14:07
I don’t do that.
May 11, 2022 at 08:54
Hi Simon, thank you for your help. How can I write to KCC for an inquiry to ask them what on my case is going on.
Thank you
I’m DV 2022 winner
Case number 2022AS10XXX.
May 11, 2022 at 14:09
You don’t need my permission or help to write to them. Just make sure you identify yourself correctly (FULL case number, name, and DOB)
May 11, 2022 at 14:55
Thank you sir your guidance. I asked KCC for an inquiry and replied by:
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
What does it exactly mean? When, you think, I will be sent my 2NL? While, when I check my status at CEAC, it shows at NVC. Do I expect my DS260 is being processed or not yet. Thanks a lot.
May 11, 2022 at 15:02
This email comes when your case is “actively” being scheduled. It’s a special point in time. If your embassy is working, and has capacity for your case, you can expect a 2NL within the next couple of weeks. However, if your embassy is NOT working you can be in a kind of limbo. At this point you cannot make any changes, because KCC has allocated the case to your embassy, but not sent it to the embassy yet. If the embassy does not have full capacity, and there are more cases in front of you than they can interview in the month, then your interview will be pushed to a later month.
May 11, 2022 at 15:16
Thank you for your answer. What do you think about the US consulate capacity in Islamabad Pakistan. Do they work on DV cases?
Thinks
May 11, 2022 at 17:35
Yes. I can’t predict their future capacity though.
May 11, 2022 at 09:15
Hi Brit what is the invoice ID number and how do i get it?
May 11, 2022 at 14:09
You don’t have one. Why do you need one?
May 12, 2022 at 14:48
When i want to fill ds260 it needs invoice ID number and I don’t have it.
If a person who welcomes me to US changes his address during a process does it causes problem.
May 13, 2022 at 05:52
1. You need your case number for the DS260. Not an invoice number.
2. No, but you should update the address at the interview.
May 11, 2022 at 13:54
Hello Brit 🙂
My fiancé won a green card and we are soon getting married. Will it complicate the case (so make it less likely to be approved) if I don’t change my surname after marriage? Will they become suspicious of that?
Thank you!
Violet

No
May 11, 2022 at 14:06
Hi Mr Simon
I’m DV2022 winner AF41XXX
I see the visa bulletin has passed my case number and I did not receive an email notification for interview. Does that mean I was not chosen for visa or there is still a chance?
Thanks
May 11, 2022 at 14:23
DV2022 is a mess because they made almost everyone current and there are not enough visas for all, nor time to process them. So – now it’s a bit like another lottery. Some cases will be scheduled, some won’t. A lot depends on your embassy. Email KCC and ask about your status.
May 11, 2022 at 14:20
Dear Simon,
I’m DV2023 winner as EU10xxx. I know I’m in a good early position, but I want to buy some time, so I can go for interview later. What is the good time to fill the DS-260 to make my interview at the latter half but still not too late to miss my chance? Thank you for doing this!
May 11, 2022 at 14:33
I understand your strategy, and yes you can do that, BUT it is too early for us to know how well KCC will be operating. If they don’t do well then the backlogs that build up (which is somewhat natural) can mean weeks and months of delays. I hope things will be returning to “normal” but I can’t be sure. So – I can’t give you a precise answer as I would have in previous years.
May 11, 2022 at 14:33
Hello Brit. I am a DV 2022 winner 2022AF397**. I haven’t received my 2nl and when I check my DV Selection Letter from dvprogram.state.gov the date from May 8, 2021 changed to June 6, 2021. What maybe the cause for the sudden change in the date?
May 11, 2022 at 14:55
The date changing is not impactful in any way. It was just a system update.
May 11, 2022 at 14:37
Hi, Brit, firstly thank you for answering our questions. My question is that, I was unmarried when I filled the entry form, but I was engaged. So after announcement we are planning to get married. But the official marriage process takes about a month in Azerbaijan by law. My case number is around 9k. Will not it be late to fill DS260 form after a month, about in the end of June with this case number? and can it be problem if my spouse doesn’t change her surname? Because at that time she should also change her ID and Passport and it will also take time. Thank you
May 11, 2022 at 14:56
No problem about the name or the timeline. If you want, file as single then add her once married.
May 11, 2022 at 14:53
Hi Brit,
I’m DV Lottery winner 2022 How much cash should I take to America, Can I have your advice?
Also, how should I declare this cash?
Best regards.
Ibrahim.
May 11, 2022 at 14:58
You shouldn’t travel with a lot of cash, and there is a $10k limit.

May 11, 2022 at 15:10
Submitted pics from last year and won. Will that be an issue?
May 11, 2022 at 17:35
Probably not.
May 11, 2022 at 15:20
Hi Brit,
My question is related to the DS 260. I’ve read that it’s best to fill it out as soon as possible but when exactly is the deadline ?
My GF and I are considering getting married since I’ve been selected to enter the process. But we are discussing whether it’s best to fill it out now as a single and get married later on (before the interview), OR get married ASAP, then do the papaerwork. What do you reckon is best ?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers !
May 11, 2022 at 17:36
There is no specific deadline. The fastest way is probably completing as single then updating later, but you don’t mention your case number so I can’t say what would be best in your case.
May 11, 2022 at 15:23
Hi Brit,
First of all, thank you for the massive information you are sharing.
I have been selected for further processing with an AS14xx case number. I have made a stupid mistake and applied with an older photo. I applied with the same photo for DV2021, but was not selected for further processing. Would I be disqualified at the interview this time due to the old photo?
May 11, 2022 at 17:37
Probably not.
May 11, 2022 at 15:45
SOS
My afghan friend lives in iran and she can not obtain passport can she submit her ds260 without password and choose the option “other travel document” for time being and then go and try to see if she can somehow manage to get a passport because it seems to be impossible for now ????
May 11, 2022 at 17:37
Yes
May 11, 2022 at 15:49
Hi Brit
I’m a winner of the dv lottery 2022 and I had a question of whether I can fill the ds260 form with a passport that will expire by next year?
Thank you.
May 11, 2022 at 17:37
Yes. Submit now and update later or just take the new passport (and proof of the old) to interview.
May 11, 2022 at 16:05
Dear Mr. Simon
“2023AS8XX”
A- In the DS-260 there are “Address of person currently living in the US” where I want my Green Card is mailed.
B- I will need to demonstrate that I will not become a “public charge” through obtaining an “Affidavit of Support” (Form 1-134) by a “US legal resident”.
—————————
1- Should the person in A be the same as in B?
2- Does person A have to be in the same state or city as person B?
3- After I submit ds-260 can I change the person in A in the interview at the embassy?
Because my number is very low I need to submit DS-260 now to gain time and then think about the possibility of changing the person in A in the next weeks.
Thanks.
May 11, 2022 at 17:38
1. No
2. No
3. Yes
May 11, 2022 at 17:08
My wife and I are DV2021 winners. Since we received the 2NL letter on Sept. 13, 2021, we were unable to complete the medical examination and travel to Montreal in order to attend the appointment on Sept. 20, 2021. It was impossible for us to do so because of the short notice and because we were expecting a baby on Sept. 24. We are not involved in any DV lawsuits. Every time we check the visa status it says “Ready”. Do we still have a chance, or is it over for us?
May 11, 2022 at 17:39
It’s over. Visas were reserved for plaintiffs of a couple of lawsuits, and that is ongoing, but unless you were on those cases you have lost your chance.
May 11, 2022 at 18:34
Dear Britsimon,
I am your follower in YouTube for long time. It is very professional, and helpful. After three trial this year I am selected as DV winner 2023. My case number is 2023AF00011XXX. But my situation is: I am an asylum seeker in Canada now. My passport is expired. My family is in my home country.
Do you advise me to apply and fill DS 260? How about my passport? How about, my entry as visiting visa to USA, but now in Canada as asylum seeker?
Thank you for your valuable and professional advice.
May 11, 2022 at 19:41
You can proceed, but I would say a couple of things.
1. You will need a valid passport of travel document for the process.
2. You should normally interview with your family members.
May 11, 2022 at 18:51
Hi Simon, sorry one more question. I applied for DV-2022 with my passport of Country A (country of chargeability) and currently live in Country B and hold its passport too. In DS, I entered Country A passport as primary and Country B passport as secondary. Now, I want to use Country B passport for both medicals and visa. Is that OK? Both passports are valid, it’s just a matter of convenience for me.
May 11, 2022 at 19:42
No problem.
May 11, 2022 at 19:28
Hello Mr. Simon. I have big trouble.
My wife won green card. When she registered green card she was married with me. And now we are married too.She had a passport with old surname, expiration year 2026. And she registered with this old surname. But a 5 month ago she changed her surname and took my surname. And now she have to register DS-260 with new surname or what we have to do? Is this will be problem? Please help us
May 11, 2022 at 19:44
So since she changed her name5 months ago you must have some legal paperwork about that, and she can take that paperwork to the interview. She should use her current legal name, and in the DS260 she should also used other names she has previously used.
May 11, 2022 at 19:58
Sorry but it’s not name,it is last name. She changed her lastname and took mine. What we have to do ?
May 12, 2022 at 16:33
Same answer.
May 11, 2022 at 20:11
Hi
We won the dv lottery now and my fathers passport expires in November. If we choose to renew the passport before filling in the DS260, the new passport will only arrive in the mid/end of June. Will this affect our interview timing if we only submit the DS260 at the end of June? Our case number is just below 2000 in Africa.
Thank you
May 12, 2022 at 16:36
I would suggest filing now with the old passport, then taking the new and old passports to the interview. I am suggesting that because the case number is very low.
May 11, 2022 at 20:44
Hi Simon,
I was able to find a sponsor but there’s a small concern. He has sponsored someone else before. So, will it cause an issue?
May 12, 2022 at 16:36
Possibly. If you have another choice, use that, if not – take what you have.
May 11, 2022 at 20:55
hello brit how are you ? I have two emails and cant really remember the email i put first time while i was applying, what should i do to avoid putting diffrent email on the DS 260 form and for notification too.
May 12, 2022 at 16:38
Doesn’t matter. Use either email.
May 11, 2022 at 20:56
Hello Simon , after being approved at the interview and then entering the USA to activate the greencard im planing to exit the USA for about 8-10 months in order to organize for the relocation ,is this problematic?
May 12, 2022 at 16:38
No
May 11, 2022 at 21:01
Hello,
When I applied I had the old passport which expired and now I have another valid passport? Would the different passport number cause an issue?
My case number is 2023EU24XXX. I am currently a F1 visa holder living in USA. Am I eligible to adjust my visa? If yes do I still fill DS 260 or there is another procedure?
May 12, 2022 at 16:39
No problem about the passport.
Yes you can do AOS. Full info at the link below.

Hello brit,
I’m dv2023 winner with a case number 2023eu22xxx.
I’ve seen your videos and know it is too early for u to give me an answer, bur to reassure myself, based on previous years, is my number a good number and do i stand any chance of further processing to get my visa
Thanks in advance
May 12, 2022 at 16:42
You already know my answer….
May 11, 2022 at 22:47
Hello, Brit! Can you help me please? “Have you attended a public elementary school or a public secondary school on student (F) status after November 30, 1996 without reimbursing the school?”
Does it mean just american schools? Or all over the world? How should I answer if I started school in 2002 and graduated in 2013.
May 12, 2022 at 16:43
They are talking about attending a US school or college on an F visa.
May 11, 2022 at 22:53
Hello. I would like to ask if you have any opinion regarding war in Ukraine and related with it working process of embassy in Warsaw? I found some information that Ukrainians cases regarding asylum are proceeded in Warsaw and also Russians and Belarusians have their cases from DV-2022 proceeded there. There are some roumors that some people with CN numbers less that 10xxx are not even invited for the interview yet, due to overwhelming level of work. We have CN 16xxx for DV-2023 and we are a little bit worried how things will develop.
May 12, 2022 at 16:45
You are DV2023. It is not relevant to talk about what is happening right now, since you won’t be current for an interview until 2023.
May 12, 2022 at 00:07
Dear Mr. simon,
– In a social media ID question:
Youtube channel ID is sensitive to uppercase and lowercase
( Example: youtube.com/channel/UC-rSg…. )
But the problem is when copying ID in the DS-260, it makes all letters uppercase
Therefore, the link will not be valid when you try it.
– Some ID such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin are not sensitive to letters, whether they are uppercase or lowercase.
– How should I write a YouTube ID?
thanks.
May 12, 2022 at 16:47
Don’t overthink it. Just enter it how you can and they can figure it out if they want to.
May 12, 2022 at 00:14
Hello! I had a couple questions about the CR1 visa. My husband has his interview in Cairo soon.
-I was wondering if I need to fill out an updated I-864 form, as the one I uploaded on the CEAC was a year ago.
-I was wondering if we have to confirm the appointment registration and how to do that. I have followed the step 1 link and added the address where he will pick up the passport but I do not know how to confirm the appointment registration?
– I was wondering if I should upload documents to the CEAC website before the interview such as pictures of us, updates IRS forms, and such?
-Also are there any other fees that are needed to be paid at the embassy
-Also do I just screenshot our conversations on whatsapp, do I have to save him by his full name, and do I have to translate it if they are in arabic?
May 12, 2022 at 16:47
I only answer DV related questions.
May 12, 2022 at 01:00
hello

Hi Simon, thank you for all the info you provide us.
My question is this: I have used 2 emails in the last 5 years. All my social media are associated with one of these email. Facebook is the only social that have a different email that my parents created for me In 2009 when I was 13 because I wanted to join Facebook but it was requirement to have an email. I’m 26 now and in these 13 years I never checked that email, but I only used it to login on Facebook. Should I include it in the email question? I’m trying to access it but although it seems to be valid and the password is correct I can’t open it.

Dear simon
1) can someone who have been invited to interview request to unlock the ds260? If yes should we request it to embassy or KCC?
2)Mother is the main applicant there is a mistake in father’s ds260(he had served in military , but by mistake we choose had didn’t served)
Is it a big issue ? Is unlocking necessary?

1. KCC cannot unlock after the 2NL is sent. Only the embassy can. But ONLY ask them to unlock if it is ESSENTIAL.
2. Email the embassy and explain.

Hi Simon,
2 quick questions:
I’m a DV2023 selectee.
1. When asked about my visa on the ds260… I am currently on an 01A visa which I had adjustment of status to remain in the USA – I have not yet traveled back to my home country to get the stamp in my passport for this visa, therefore I don’t have a visa number yet attached to this visa. Should I enter 01A and “DO NOT KNOW” next to visa number or should I enter my previous (F1) visa instead?
2. My case number is AF14xxx, should I be concerned about this number when doing an adjustment of status in the USA (I’m here currently)

1. Use the F1 number
2. No – you just can’t file until you see that number exceeded in the VB.
