Hi Simon,
EU2022-17K interview in Dublin.
As my medical results were not ready, the officer requested to send passport and medical report via post, which I’ve done accordingly.
You suggested to check CEAC. This has not been updated since.
I’m trying to contact the Embassy, but it seems impossible.
What should I do?
I can’t stay too long with no passport.
Thank you.
May 19, 2022 at 04:39
You have to wait. If you have to have your passport back you can ask the embassy, but of course that will mean a delay later.

Thanks

Hi,
I am a lottery winner and I live in Afghanistan, I wanted to ask you that in my ds260 do I have to choose Afghanistan for interview because u.s.embassy is closed here. Or i should choose pakistan?
The second question is that I have school certificate, and I am now in third year of medicine faculty at university. In my ds260 form, can i select “University with no degree” or i should select school with degree?
Thank you sir.
May 19, 2022 at 04:41
1. Yes
2. Pick one. It’s not important.
May 19, 2022 at 15:35
Sorry to bother you by repeating my question.
You mean that I should select Afghanistan, yes?
May 19, 2022 at 21:00
I mean just make a choice.

Hello sir. i just found this website. i already asked you this question as youtube comments and twitter replies. i am sorry for disturbing you again. i dont know about this website earlier. My full name is Manoharan Kiridaran. I am from Sri Lanka. I have been randomly selected for DV lottery programme 2023. Unfortunately i made a mistake in filling in DV lottery application form. I found that mistake just now. In the dv lottery application form First Name, middle name and last name were asked to fill. I typed my first name as Manoharan (father’s name ). Last name as kiridaran (My name ). I don’t have any middle name. So i left that alone. Recently i started filling ds 260 application form. In that form principal applicant surname is asked to fill . In my passport my surname has been mentioned as Manoharan. If i type Manoharan in the surname blank, it says it is incorrect according their reports. But if i type Kiridaran as my surname i am able to continue the process. I usually write my full name as Manoharan kiridaran. I thought first name and surname are same. My mother language is tamil language. In the passport the meaning of surname has been mentioned as first name in tamil language. So that i thought like that. Can i send an email to dep of state regarding this ? Please help me sir to find a solution. Thank you.

You may have a character in there that is stopping the submission. The name itself won’t be the problem.
May 18, 2022 at 12:56

May 19, 2022 at 04:43
It’s not important.

Dear Simon,
I have won the dv lottery this 2023. I hold a first degree and I am currently employed as an administrative assistant, unfortunately in my research, this occupation falls under zone 3 in the o net online database which means that the occupation does not qualify for the lottery visa. I am currently filling the ds260 application, is it advisable that I provide both information on my occupation alongside my education though my occupation does not qualify me but my education background qualify me?
May 19, 2022 at 04:46
You only need to meet one of the methods. So – list everything in the DS260, but as long as education meets the requirement that is all they will need.
May 18, 2022 at 16:57
Hi Brit,
I won DV23, my case number AS25XXX, and will marry by September.
My first question is should I wait to get married and then summit my DS 260 form, or submit it now as single and update it later?
Second question, do you think it’s a good move to bring my wife at that time to the interview or to go alone to the interview and process my wife’s paper later?
The last one, if I choose to process my wife’s paper later, how long does it usually take to issue here a visa?
Thanks
May 19, 2022 at 04:48
1. Your choice, either way is fine.
2. Together.
3. Years.
May 18, 2022 at 17:40
Hello Britsimon
Please I want to know if I pay for my Green card now in my home country before traveling months later, will the Green card be mailed to my US address before I arrive in the US or it will be mailed upon my entering into the US.
I’m asking this question because I’m traveling two months later to the US but I want to pay the USCIS fees before traveling to the US
kind regards
Safia.
May 19, 2022 at 04:50
Only mailed after the fees are paid AND you enter the USA.

Good day BritSimon
2023AF4XXX
In my application form, I stated that I am single (Which is correct), but I am in a 3-year relationship and was planning to take my partner with me. If I get engaged and married soon, will it complicate my application?
May 19, 2022 at 04:51
No that’s fine.
May 18, 2022 at 18:11
Good day BritSimon
2023AF4XXX
Hope you’re well.
It seems like my questions is not posting on your website.
I am in a relationship for 2 years and 11 months tomorrow and was planning to get engaged. My application form obviously states that I am single.
Will it be a problem if I get engaged and married in the next month in order to ensure that she can come with me?
Will it complicate the process? I understand that I need to unlock my application with the KCC and add her as a spouse after the marriage took place.
Will this risk the application?
May 19, 2022 at 04:51
Repeated question – I answered already. Questions are held for my approval. Just post once, I’ll see it.
May 18, 2022 at 18:12
Hi Simon,
A quick question about the police check required for the interview.
I lived in China for 1.5 years a few years back, however it’s impossible to obtain a police check if you’re not physically there or if you don’t have a relative/friend/acquaintance whom you can authorise to do it for you. What would be an option in this case?
Thank you in advance,
Ivan
May 19, 2022 at 04:52
You read and follow the instructions on the reciprocity page. If those instructions say you can’t get it, then you are not expected to provide it.

Hi Brit, my number is 2023AF00XX I have a son who has a disability so cannot live independently. What process would I have to follow to get him to join me and my wife.
May 19, 2022 at 04:55
I answered this earlier today.
May 18, 2022 at 23:00
I only entered my son’s first name without the middle names
Of course with the last name in the family field
Thus, his form contains only his first and last name
Do I need to reopen the form and add middle names, or is what I [email protected] right?
May 19, 2022 at 05:03
Yes it should have his full legal name.

Hi Simon, I’m an Algerian national and I’ve been selected for further processing for the dv2023,i have the high school diploma and all the required certificates, I have previously worked in Libya from 2013-2014 for a period of 11 months, I’ve had a work visa and a work certificate from the Libyan employer, I left the country on my own and I’ve not been deported. will this play a role in the rejection of my visa on the interview, is the travel ban still live?
Thank you in advance

DV Lottery 2023 Question!
We’ve been granted a spot in the lottery with a high rank number (15XX) and have a bit of an issue popping up.
We’ve got valid J Visa’s until March 2023, but historically doing an adjustment (what they recommend if you’re living in the US) is only available at that rank number around June of the year.
Alternatively we can (maybe? not sure) still go the KCC route, but that means if we get it earlier we potentially have to fly back to Australia (or allot Canada perhaps) to do an interview at an overseas consulate? And I’m not even sure we can do that if we live here.
Too late for an adjustment, and too early for KCC potentially!
Any thoughts?
May 19, 2022 at 05:04
It’s too early to know. Wait a few weeks when we will know more.
May 19, 2022 at 00:49
Hi Simon,
I won the DV2023, my number is 2023AS14XXX.
My wife doesn’t want to get green card and she doesn’t want to go to the US.
Is it possible only me get the green card in my family.
I know even so, I need to submit all of my family’s information in DS260.
May 19, 2022 at 05:06
Yes that is possible.
May 19, 2022 at 02:33
Hi Simon, my brother’s case number is 2023EU27xxx. His passport was damaged and he now needs to get a new one, which in his country takes about 1.5 months. What would be the best approach: wait to get a new passport and then submit DS-260 or submit now with the old passport number and later unlock and update the form? Considering his high case number, he realizes he is not due for the interview any time soon, but he is wondering if he submits early, if it will give him a priority over other high case numbers when they all become current. Or if he laters unlock the form, will it push him back to the end of the queue? Thank you!
May 19, 2022 at 05:06
He can do it either way. He will wait for his case number anyway.
May 19, 2022 at 03:21
Hi Simon,
I have submitted my DS-260 yesterday.
I have a concern about my social media added info.
I have only added my LinkedIn account information. But I didn’t add Facebook account since its not actively used one and I don’t post or share any info there.
do I need to unlock my account to add those accounts info. what you suggest please ?
thank you
May 19, 2022 at 05:07
Unlock and correct. Don’t try and pick what you think you should answer.
May 19, 2022 at 05:42
Hello sir
I won the DV 2023, my case number AF xxx22
My passport will expire 2023 Dec 23.
Can I still used it?
May 19, 2022 at 18:02
Yes. You can update it late in the process.
May 19, 2022 at 06:03
Hi Simon,
I won the DV2023, my number is 2023AS14XXX.
I used to have a green card when I was 10 years old. My green card was asked voluntarily abandoned by an immigration officer on the border at the age of 17. How and where will you suggest presenting this situation in my DS-260 document?
May 19, 2022 at 18:24
As you go through the form it will ask you for previous visas, A number and so on.
May 20, 2022 at 03:21
Hi BritSimon,
Do you mean this question? “Have you ever been issued a U.S. Visa? ”
But I had a U.S. visitor visa when I was 23. This question asks me to provide the information about my last U.S. visa. So I have to give my latest U.S. visitor visa information instead of my former green card.
Another question is my previous passport with the U.S. visitor visa was lost. How can I get precise information about the issue date of this visa? It has to be filled in DS-260.
May 21, 2022 at 15:44
Just answer as best you can. If you don’t know a precise date, give an approximate guess.
May 19, 2022 at 06:48
Hi Simon,
your time and support highly appreciated.
Regarding changing email id in DS 260 form.
We have just created new email address for DV program communications. Is it okay to change the applicant email id to newly created one for future communications and DS 260 form as I have used my other email id when I applied for 2023 lottery program.
thank you
May 19, 2022 at 18:25
Yes. Seems a bit daft, but yes.
May 19, 2022 at 07:40
Hello Simon,
I have submitted the DS260 but I’m worried about the education part because I completed from high school (age 14 in Italy) and not from 12y as you stated in a video on youtube. Is this a problem? Should I correct it asap?
May 19, 2022 at 18:33
Not a big deal. No need to change it.
May 19, 2022 at 07:48
Hey BritSimons :),
I am blessed that I finally won in DV2023 after 12 years of participation. My case number is 7xxx. I already filled the DS260 and submitted it.
My fiancé and I planned actually to get married next year. Now we are unsure how we to handle this to get her considered in my application.
I think currently, after submitting the DS260, the next thing I have to do is just waiting for the Interview appointment right? Would it make sense to wait for the appointment and try to reschedule the wedding to an earlier point so that I can take her into the application? If so – when should be the latest point to do so? I have to unlock the application to change my status to ‘married’ and put in her data as well, right?.
May 19, 2022 at 18:34
If you want to add her, you should marry asap. You didn’t mention the region so I can’t tell how low that number is.
May 19, 2022 at 07:58
Hi Brit my questions are about ds260:
1If I choose the number of social media I use only on instagram, does it matter, what do i write username or name.
2 explain me address you lived since age of sixteen if i choose i moved this address 2016 and i turned to 16 2017 do I writes any other address.
3 filling my school form, when i started and when i finished do i write in all 12 years of school or four years of high school.
May 19, 2022 at 18:41
1. Username
2. Just that address then.
3. Detail history going back to about age 12 (secondary education)
May 19, 2022 at 19:42
Secondary education you mean the last four years of high school.
May 19, 2022 at 08:42
Hello BritSimons, I am 2022af36k over in Accra Ghana. With 3 months left to end the year the activity at the Accra embassy is rather slow.
I have looked at activity in 2 neighboring country embassies i.e Burkina Faso and Nigeria and I see interview activity is well beyond my case number.
Would it be prudent to move my case to any of these countries? And how soon should I take action?
May 19, 2022 at 18:44
If you can get reassigned, do so. KCC won’t always agree.
May 19, 2022 at 09:14
Hi Brit
When choosing an embassy for the interview , if you are in Somalia, he automatically will choose you in Nairobi and I want to make Djibouti i heard it must your present address be djibouti otherwise you have to go to nairobi
May 19, 2022 at 18:44
OK.
May 19, 2022 at 19:47
Now I’m in in Somalia can I choose a US embassy in Djibouti for interview.
May 19, 2022 at 21:10
You can try.
May 19, 2022 at 10:35
hello Simon, on the form 1040 that my sponsor has yet to pay the state $456 on these taxes. What do you recommend ? change of sponsor or what?
May 19, 2022 at 18:59
Not important – relax.
May 19, 2022 at 12:10
Hi,
I was selected in this year’s diversity visa lottery. When KCC send me an e-mail about supporting documents, do they ask for I-134, Declaration of Financial Support form from everyone? I don’t have anyone, who would sign that kind of a document, but I have saved money and I could provide bank statements. I have over 200 000 USD. If they ask for form I-134, is it possible not to return that document and provide bank statements instead?
May 19, 2022 at 20:53
Yes you can meet the requirement with bank statements and sufficient savings. So you’ll be fine.
May 19, 2022 at 12:17
Hello Sir, I had a interview today, got 221(g) refusal and asked to fill DS-5535, so is there still chance to get visa? How long it generally take to complete the process?
May 19, 2022 at 20:54
AP times and outcomes for DS5535 vary – I can’t predict it.

Hello Brit!
Thank you for taking your time answering our question.
I had a question regarding the ds 260 application. I have completed it and submitted it and everything I completed it correctly.
I have 1 question
Since I am a student, I have not worked yet, and so I put in my ds 260 no work experience or current since my occupation is student, my question is if I start working in the next month for example, do I need to unlock and update my ds260 because at the time of my submission i was not working. This is the same for if I travel to a new country for tourism purposes(1 day or 2 days max) as I will probably travel with my school, for these little things do I need to unlock my ds-260 or can they be quickly clarified if I have an interview at the embassy?
Thank you
May 19, 2022 at 20:58
No need to unlock.
May 19, 2022 at 15:58
Mr Simon
I am D V 2022 AS winner and my interview is scheduled to next week.
I already received the i,-134 Affidavit of support from my sponsor and It is the previous form ( only with 8 pages). Not the niew form.
Is there any issue during my interview if I am with the previous i- 134 form?
Thank you very much for the immense support given to me through out my DV journey.
May 19, 2022 at 21:04
The old form will still be valid next week.
May 19, 2022 at 15:59
Dear sir!
I have two questions regarding ds 260
1.do I have to add my advanced level results if I have a msc?
2y passport and bc have the same name but my other certificates (all of them) have my surename in the front as well.
I couldn’t add that name even for other names category as I don’t have it in my passport. Will I be able to provide a affidavit if requested in the visa interview or what’s the best option I have here?
Thank you very much waiting for your valuable advice
May 19, 2022 at 21:05
1. Yes.
2. Use your judgement based on what is normal in your country.
May 19, 2022 at 16:35
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your great help.
1. I have requested to unlock my DS260 form to do few changes. do they notifying us via email after they unlocked our forms ?
2. How long will it take for KCC to unlock my DS260 ?
3. Do we need to add O/L education information as well?
Thanks.
May 19, 2022 at 21:06
1. Normally, yes.
2. I don’t know. They are getting busy because of DV2023
3. You can decide.
May 19, 2022 at 16:51
Hello Sir.
thank you for your help.
I have another question.. I have misspelled my host last in the DS260 2023. Now should I correct it during the interview or should request reopen for my DS260?
another question : I’m the principal applicant , my wife has a university degree but the problem is her place of birth is referent due to an administrative change of the areas long time ago and her place of birth in her passport and birth certificate are correct and it’s hard to change it in her certificate.
so is it enough to explain that at the interview?
thank you so much for your help
May 19, 2022 at 21:08
1. No need to correct.
2. Mention at interview.
May 20, 2022 at 05:26
Dear sir.
thank you so much for your help you are the greatest.
but my concern is that I have misspelled to letters in my host last name so the question is are they going to check the host name?because the giving name and address are correct so do you think I should tell them the correction of his last name during the interview?I’m just concern that might cost me denial.
May 21, 2022 at 15:58
It won’t cause denial, but correct it at the interview.
May 19, 2022 at 17:49
Hello Sir.
thank you for your help.

May 19, 2022 at 19:41
Hi Simon,
I’ve read your Processing update as of May 2022 article, that was really helpful and explanatory for our current situation. Could you also share the interview capacity and backlog table of Ankara Embassy if it’s possible?
May 19, 2022 at 21:11
I don’t have the details on any other embassy.
May 19, 2022 at 21:35
Hello Sir

May 19, 2022 at 21:43
Hi, I got selected Greencard lotto 2023 but I am worried about my previous denial of US visa when I applied at US embassy. Will this effect my Greencard lotto case?
May 19, 2022 at 23:37
It depends why you were denied the previous visa.
May 20, 2022 at 02:28

May 21, 2022 at 15:54
1. I would personally wait a few weeks at least.
2. I don’t know. Your CN means you are a year away from a possible interview – a lot can happen in a year.
May 20, 2022 at 02:48
Hey Brit!
OC202213## .
I’ve finally got my interview in Suva. I wanted to ask.
Do I need to bring along my original copy of my degree? It’s currently framed at home. Or will a digital printed copy be suffice?
I will of course have my original High school certification.
Thanks
May 20, 2022 at 03:10

Hello Brit,
My wife was selected in the 2023 dv lottery program and we are in the process of filling the ds260 forms
I have a Travel document for Palestinian refugees issued by the Syrian Authorities and my main concern are as follows:
1. Are these Travel Documents for Palestinian Refugees issued by the Syrian authorities acceptable to travel to US and won’t be an issue during the interview or for issuing the green card
2.On the DS260 form, personal information page 2, the selection of country/origin for (Palestinians holding Syrian Travel Documents) shall it be Palestinian territory, Syria or Stateless.
3. On the same page of the DS260 form, the document type, shall it be considered a passport or other travel document. (knowing that when I select other travel document, the feilds to fill the details will disappear, therefore, the details of the travel document such as name, and expiry date cannot be typed in the form.
Thank you

1. I don’t have specific knowledge about that.
2. Depends on where you were born. ON the DV instructions it says:
*Persons born in the areas administered prior to June 1967 by Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt are chargeable,
respectively, to Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt. Persons born in the Gaza Strip are chargeable to Egypt; persons
born in the West Bank are chargeable to Jordan; persons born in the Golan Heights are chargeable to Syria.
3. Use your judgement.

There are slightly different statuses but in practice they are all “DS260 processed”. The one you want says “current for interview processing”
