Dear Simon
I am from asia and I have been in a relationship with a woman for more than two years. Now, I have been selected for the DV lottery 2023. However, we are not married yet. If we get married now and fill in the DS260 with her details as my wife within the next 4-5 days will there be a possibility of the officers rejecting my case doubting the honesty of my marriage?
Regards,
May 22, 2022 at 22:13
Yes. But if the relationship is genuine, you should be able to show proof of that.
May 22, 2022 at 19:00
Hello, dear BritSimon team, thank you for all the information you showed a long time ago for the DV winners…
I filled the DS-260 form and sent it to the KCC, but I forgot to put the addresses (lived after sixteen YO) where I lived when I was studying at the university (two different faculties), and the address of the place where I am working now (different from where my family lives). I would like to bring to your attention that when I was studying at the university I lived in the city of the university, and now I am renting a house without a contract, and I also want to inform you that I have to go to the city where my family lives if I need administrative documents (e.g. birth certificate, police certificate…).
Please tell me if it is necessary to contact KCC to unblock my DS form in order to add the above mentioned addresses?
Best regards BritSimon

No
May 23, 2022 at 10:20
Thanks Sir for your quick response. I would like to have an other inquiry from you, it’s about the address of residence I used in DS form, when I registered in the DV lottery, I used the following address : XOXXX XXXXX, It’s the one which in my passport, and when I filled the DS-260 I used the address as it’s in my national ID card (XOUXXX XXXXX), difference of a vowel alphabet in a proper noun…
Please let me know if this will be an obstacle to getting an interview? and if I need to correct the address in my pass to be the same as it’s in ID card?
Best regards
May 24, 2022 at 12:16
That won’t stop you getting an interview. As for the address – use your own judgement.
May 24, 2022 at 09:39
Please note that, I have been selected in the DV lottery 2023…
May 22, 2022 at 20:01
Hello Brit! Hope you doing well and thank you for all the good work you do for dv lottery wineries. I’m am dv2023 winner from europe, albania . I have accomplished full study for 5 year to a construction high school .After that also stared studies and finish full 2 years and get Associate Degree in Construction Manager (2 years full time of studies)”Aleksander Moisiu” University Faculty of professional studies . Is this acceptable for my education at the day of interview ?!
May 22, 2022 at 22:16
Requirements vary by country, so I cannot be certain.
May 22, 2022 at 20:08
Dear Sir.
thank you so much for your help God bless you.
I would like to rephrase my question.
in my wife is the principle applicant she has a high school diploma.
in the transcript the name of the school is like this (om salma)) but on the DS260 I wrote (Om Salma high school) I added ( high school). is that a problem? the transcript was issued by ministry of education not the school.
does it make any deference or correction should be made? the translation will be like this name of the school : (om salma) without (high school)
thanks a lot Sir
May 22, 2022 at 22:17
No problem.

Hi Simon, I’m 2023OC21XX. Consulate is Auckland NZ, but I might be living abroad in Canada or Ireland by the time my case becomes current. Wondering if I’d be better to change my consulate to Montreal or Dublin depending where I am, or just fly back to Auckland for the medical and interview. Looking at it from the perspective of what might increase my chances of getting an interview once case number is current. Seeing as both Canada and Ireland get very few DV selectees thought maybe once my case is current I might get an interview quickly in those countries whereas in NZ i’ll probably still be in front of a fair few cases at Auckland consulate. The other part of me thinks I shouldn’t complicate things switching consulates and worry my case will get lost in the system and I should just stick with Auckland. Any advice on this would be much appreciated.
May 23, 2022 at 04:50
It’s far too early to be making those decisions, your case number won’t be current for a year. But once you have moved, you can update your DS260 and you will interview where you live.
May 23, 2022 at 04:45
Good day sir ,thanks for your helpful vedios my case no is 2023AF45942
May 23, 2022 at 05:31
Hi Simon,
On my ds260 form I did some mistakes on dates where I used to live. I already requested the unlock to make some revisions.
My mom gave me the wrong information.
I did ask the registration office when I moved to my second Appartement I got other dates. I also got documents where it is written on.
Also I fill out about my highest degree on education which is the Bachelor of Arts.
I also have a highschool degree and a college degree. But didnt mention both.
In some forums I read that you have to mention every degree you have. I mean I dont hide anything. Just been wrong on filling out the ds260
Do you think this would cause Problems?
I would be thankful if you could help me.
Thanks
May 24, 2022 at 12:14
Probably no impact.
May 23, 2022 at 10:29
Hello Mr. Simon
I’m Iranian and I live in Thailand.
I’m a dv2023 winner & my case number is AS16000
Do you think that according to my case number I should choose the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, for an interview or one of the three US embassies in Turkey, Armenia or Abu Dhabi, where the Iranians go?
Which embassy will give me an interview sooner?
May 24, 2022 at 12:17
I have no way to know what the situation will be almost a year from now.
May 23, 2022 at 11:08
This is Zahid Ahmad Shahab from Afghanistan, I am DV lottery winner of 2020. we don’t have US Embassy in Afghanistan. Will KCC arrange interview for me in any other country, will I be able to carry ON my case in other country?
May 24, 2022 at 12:17

Dear Sir..
this from the INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 2023 DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT VISA PROGRAM
(DV-2023
MISCELLANEOUS
39. If I receive a visa through the DV program, will the U.S. government pay for my airfare
to the United States, help me find housing and employment, and/or provide healthcare or
any subsidies until I am fully settled?
No. The U.S. government will not provide any of these services to you if you receive a visa through
the DV program. If you are selected to apply for a DV, before being issued a
visa you must demonstrate that you will not become a public charge in the United States. If you are
selected and submit a diversity visa application, you should familiarize yourself with the Department of
State’s public guidance on how the likelihood of becoming a public charge is assessed and what
evidence can be provided to demonstrate that you are not likely to become a public charge.
they didn’t mention the I-134 does that a new change?
May 24, 2022 at 12:22
Nothing changed, they are just changing some wording. An I-134 still may be required because it is in the guidance they refer to.
May 23, 2022 at 15:12
Dear Sir,
First of all i am really grateful for giving us these informations and showing us the right directions.
I won DV2023 lottery from Turkey quato which is eligible country as EU but i was born in Libya which is also eligible as AF. The purpose of selecting country of eligiblity as Turkey was the fact that Libya was not a stable country and applications from there were suspended in case of the slightest political crisis sometimes. I was always worried about that.
Because of that when i read DV instructions FAQ, i saw about being chargeable from your parents country so i chose Turkey as a chargeable country which my parents were born and citizens of Turkey. They were in Libya purpose of work of a Turkish company which was developing projects in Libya so they were temporarily in Libya and i have proofs of documentation about them. When i was 2 years old they turned back to Turkey and they also registered me when i was baby to Turkish embassy in Trablus / Libya as a Turkish citizen.
I have no affiliation or documentation about Libya, it just shows up only in my ID as a country of birth.
And i have searched this situation some says this is disqualification, some says they can be tolerant.
I want to know your opinion who has many experiences about this situation, is the consulate very strict about it and disqualify me? Or are they tolerant to look for the documentations and other qualifications which is required like education and financial stuff then decide?
May 24, 2022 at 12:24
Claiming an exception through the parents country of birth is normally used when your birth country is ineligible. However, you could try to proceed if you wish. Disqualification is the most likely outcome.
May 23, 2022 at 15:27
My wife won the dv 2023. CN: 2023AF13XXX. I am the husband and during the original dv entry, i was included as spouse. My concern is; we married legally in 2019. Recently we went to make a correction on the marriage certificate at the appropriate institution concerning my wife’s father’s name. She inadvertently stated her uncle’s name as the father’s name. Affidavit was sworned and they made the correction. Signed and stamped. Is this a cause for concern?
May 24, 2022 at 12:24
No
May 23, 2022 at 15:31
Hi Brit
Can someone be offered a diversity visa given that he played the original entry without a passport? But at the day of interview he/she has a valid passport?Case of DV 2022
Your answer will be highly appreciated
May 24, 2022 at 12:25
Yes that is fine. The passport rule was blocked.
May 23, 2022 at 17:00
Hi Brit,
Thanks for the good work you are doing for DV Lottery selectees.
My case number is 2023AF15***, my passport and that of my husband are ready for the filling of the DS-260 Form. However, the passport of the kids are still been processed and not ready.
1. Please can we can fill and submit the form for them using my passport details or National ID?
2. If yes, do we have to unlock the DS-260 form when the passport is ready to make amendment to it?
3. Do I as the principal applicant have to take my CV, appointment letter to the interview as work experience proof or my High School certificate and University degree is enough to qualify?
Thank you
May 24, 2022 at 12:40
1. Yes
2. That is ideal, or you can just update at the interview.
3. You can be over prepared.
May 24, 2022 at 13:18
Hi Mr. Simon, Hope you are keeping well. This is also on certificates. Please enlighten me on the following. My friend has completed 12 years of high school but was not successful in the exit exam. He later completed highschool examination as a private candidate. For the sake of DV requirement he has got the highschool (12 year completion) from his school, but when he requested it from the Ministry of Education they said 30 year old records are not available. But he has the High school exam certificate from Ministry which he was successful later on. Now he is in confusion on 2 issues.
1. Is it enough providing only the certificate (which was unsuccessful) at High school Examination, but which shows 12 year education?
2. Can he submit the High school exit exam certificate which he was successful later on? (Problem is it does not show 12 year education because that exam can be taken at any stage)
3. However, with the latter, he was qualified for the university entrance and completed Masters and PhD too. Within these 30 years, he has continuous career progression, equivalent to Level 4. Do you think he should produce proof on this? If so, the certification from his company would be enough? Value your opinion very much Thank you.
May 24, 2022 at 17:33
1. That depends on the education requirement in your country, and the discretion of the CO.
2. He can if he wishes.
3. With the combination of the education and work history, I doubt he would have a problem.
May 27, 2022 at 14:21
Thank you so much for your views. Appreciate as always
May 23, 2022 at 18:33
Hello brit. I hope you are doing good. In the ds 260 form they ask about any documentation to establish that i received vaccinations in accordance with us law. I do not have any documents about vaccines. Therefore my answer should be no. If i enter no they ask to explain . how can i explain this? please give me your advice. Thank you.
May 24, 2022 at 12:39
Say that you will get needed vaccinations at the medical.
May 23, 2022 at 19:16
Dear Brit good day,
I’ve just finished collecting my documents this week, as I’ve sent the KCC last week an email to reopen my souse DS260 form to make some revisions, and I got this response:
“Your case has been forwarded to the United States Embassy in Beirut. Because your case has been scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application. Any further inquiries regarding this case must be directed to them”
My question is: to whom I should send my documents? To the KCC or the Embassy in Beirut?
Thanks in advance
MID
Case Number: 2022AS00022xxx
May 24, 2022 at 12:42
You don’t send your documents anywhere. You take them to the interview.
May 23, 2022 at 22:38
Thank you Brit for the amazing content. I have won the 2023 DV Lottery this year & my number is AF43xxx. But I have problems with my name on my high school Certificate. My high school certificate has 2 names, but my passport & my DV application have 3 names. There is also a difference in the Date Of Birth on my certificate & that on my Passport.
I have gone to the ministry of Education in my country for help, but they’re not doing anything for me & I’m getting really worried. They are telling me that they can’t change the information on the certificate after they have printed it.
I’m really worried I might get issues with my case if I go with conflicting information to my interview.
I would like to know what to do to solve this problem.
This is once in a lifetime opportunity and I don’t want to mess it up. What advice would you give me dear Brit Simon.
May 24, 2022 at 12:44
Your name is not established by your education certificates, so you are worrying for nothing.
May 25, 2022 at 11:17
OK knowing that is a huge relief. How about the Date of Birth on my certificate?
I believe if I provide a Birth certificate having the correct Date of Birth, there will not be a problem, right even if I have the wrong Date of Birth on my high school certificate.
May 25, 2022 at 11:41
I also have an issue when filling my DS-260 under current Work or Education. I said I’m a student, and now they want to know details of the school/institution I’m studying in. But the problem is my studies are done Online, I’m taking the Online Google Data Analysis Professional Certification on Coursera. There is no physical address for that and I don’t know what address to fill in the DS-260. I want to be very honest just like you recommend when filling the DS-260 & say the truth. So my question is should I fill in using the physical address of Google(the actual company) or do I use the address of Coursera because they are the people who are delivering the course on their platform.
I’m confused on what to do when filling the DS-260.
I hope you can understand my situation here dear Brit Simon.
May 28, 2022 at 20:38
No need to include online courses that you have not completed yet.
June 2, 2022 at 09:36
But I have already included that Online course when filling my ds260 as one of the things I’m presently doing & I have already submitted the ds260. Do I now need to request KCC to unlock the ds260 so that I can change that? I would like your advice please.
May 23, 2022 at 23:19
Hello Brit, wish you all the best and I want to thank you for all the helpful information you and your associates are providing. I have this one question, I am a dv22 winner and I am already in the UAO lawsuit but I am thinking of getting a solo lawsuit with Morrison and Urena. Is it advisable to do so? Which one is better?
May 24, 2022 at 12:44
Discuss that with the lawyer.
May 24, 2022 at 02:13
Hi, I cannot type my name in the ‘given names’ box in ds-260 form because my name is too long and cannot fit in. What can I do? Is it okay to just type as much characters as possible?
Thanks.
May 24, 2022 at 12:45
Yes
May 24, 2022 at 03:47
Hi simon
Hope you are doing well
I am from nepal , currently studying in Sydney Australia.
My case number is 11613 and I was DQ on october 26 2021.
But my interview location is in Nepal. After all the case becomes current , they send 2nls according to DQ date, right?
If my case becomes current in coming month, How’s my chance to get 2nl as I was DQ earlier?
May 24, 2022 at 12:46
If you are charged to Nepal your case number is not current yet.

Hello Sir,
I am dv lottery winner from Afghanistan currently in India. I had my interview on 29 of April at US Consulate Mumbai. Unfortunately, I was not able to provide police clearance certificate FRRO since it was under processed. And my case was refused under section 221(g) and I was told by the consular to provide FRRO POLICE CERTIFICATE and then submit it to one of the 11 documents drop-off locations in India. But now that I have received and went to one of the documents drop-off office, I was told to create user account at ustraveldocs.com.
Unfortunately, with my email Id the profile is created for a visa in Pakistan, while I am in India. And my profile was not found by the VFS office. I do not know why but maybe it has been done by mistake.
So it there any solution for this problem?
Can I make a new profile with different email and inside the profile i will write my own?
Can I create a new account? If not, what should I do to submit my document?
May 24, 2022 at 12:47
I don’t know – ask the embassy.
May 24, 2022 at 08:47
Hello Brit! I am the winner of 2022 case EU9***. Could you please explain. In the last transit mailing (05/17) to the Warsaw embassy, the numbers go in order very densely up to the number 2022EU7736, then jump to the number 2022EU10849 and then 34 cases up to 2022EU15082. Why do they do this same embassy and they have to go in numerical order? Thank you so much for your help!
Best regards
Vyacheslav

I don’t know.
May 24, 2022 at 09:48
Hello, My case number is 2023AS13xxx, I would like to move my interview from Qatar to Jordan, I read about the process which required to contact KCC, unlock ds 260 then add your home address, then request KCC to change the interview to Jordan, the problem is I will be residing in Qatar during this time so I can’t make Qatar as previous address(I’m working there) and i can’t change the present address to Jordan(need to end Qatar address to start Jordan address ) even though I have address in Jordan and I’m Jordanian, shall I change the mailing address to Jordan and then request KCC to change the embassy or what I can do exactly.
May 24, 2022 at 12:49
Use your own judgement.
May 24, 2022 at 11:00
Hi Mr. Simon
Please answer
Is it possible to issue more than 55,000 green cards in dv 2023, is it possible? Or the number of green cards cannot be changed․ I am a winner dv2023, my case number is EU31XXX, and I want to know how bad my case number is. I’m worried, I want to understand whether it makes sense to wait, collect money and else or not? I watched your all videos and follow your advice very carefully, but I still think that my case number is very bad, please give a friendly advice to wait or not. And I don’t understand why choose more than 100,000 people when even the queue may not reach 30,000․ I know there may be holes, but so many holes that you can take 100,000 people in the beginning?
May 24, 2022 at 12:07
Hello. I have written to KCC to request to unlock my ds260. However, what if I want to change my mind about unlocking after doing some research.I have not gotten a response from KCC. And I no longer want to unlock. What can I do?
May 24, 2022 at 12:29
How long on average it may takes after submitting D-260 to be requested to send the documents?
I lost my high school certificate but I have my bachelor certificate, is this OK?
My marriage certificate is stamped only from embassy in the country of residence, not from judiciary authority in my country of origin?
I received basic military training (mandatory after completing college) but I did not serve in the army, is this considered as military service?
Who can sponsor me in USA? In terms of relation, profession, income etc.
Thanks

I don’t know.
May 24, 2022 at 13:37
Hello Brit,
My case isEU00021xx. I have been current for several weeks. I asked the KCC about my status and they said its “currently processing”. What happens if I don’t get an interview before sptember 2022? Is it complosory for them to process my case if I am current? Or will I miss my chance even if I send the DS260 in time? Thank you very much.
May 24, 2022 at 17:34
If you don’t get an interview by September 30 (and MANY cases won’t) then you lose your chance.

Hello Brit,
Thank you in advance for your response. I have a question:
I am a Goh plaintiff and also my embassy was one of those affected by shengen ban. I had submitted DS260. Now I got an offer for J1 visa sponsorship and in the forms I have to fill, it asks if I have ever applied for US permanent resident status. Does just submitting the DS260 make me answer YES to that question?
May 24, 2022 at 17:34
Yes
May 24, 2022 at 13:56
Hello Simon
please explain
on the historical visa bulletin numbers page, you show Selected region and Global selected during the year, for example, in Europe in 2021 45,002 were selected and globally 119,201 were selected. if only 55,000 green cards are available in the entire world, how were 119,201 selected globally?
Thanks for your work
May 24, 2022 at 17:36
The government overselect, with the assumption that not everyone will proceed with the process, some will be refused and so on.
May 24, 2022 at 14:01
Hello brit
If the case becomes current, will they have chance to get 2nl by DQ date this year? ( talking about the one who got DQ)
May 24, 2022 at 17:38
Which year?
May 24, 2022 at 14:06

Hello Mr. BritSimon, I’m a winner of DV2022 and my 2NL is scheduled on July. But when completed DS260 Form, I added my spouse there and we didn’t complete a different DS260 for him too, but I included him in my Form DS260. Do you think it will be a problem for us during interview?
Thank you in advance!
May 24, 2022 at 17:43
Yes it will cause delay. You must contact the embassy and ask them how you can resolve it.
May 24, 2022 at 16:12
Hi Simon! My dad’s a DV2022 winner from Germany and his case has been assigned to the consulate in Frankfurt. He’s thinking about changing to another embassy, since Frankfurt (I think) is very slow and his case is also complicated because of his job and places he traveled to in the past. At what point, if at all, would it be advisable to change to another consulate/embassy and what should one pay attention to when deciding on another consulate/embassy (meaning, are there any indicators that suggest the case could move faster at the consulate/embassy in question).
May 24, 2022 at 17:43
Time is running short even now.
May 24, 2022 at 17:55
HI Simon
My Spouse is primary applicant with DV 2023 for the EU category. (He is an Indian National and the claim of eligibility of his entry is My country of birth Germany as me holding Srilankan nationality). Case number is 2023EU19*** . I have submitted my DS 260
Question here is:
1. I am the Srilankan national born in Germany, now I have applied for the my Indian Citizenship and it may get processed in 6-12 months from now( Approx) , so if in case it get processed after I got my Visa stamped(Hopefully) in my Srilankan passport , then will the visa gets transferred to my Indian passport or how it goes? (To be concerned – Being India is not eligible for DV Lottery)
2. the Entry picked for my spouse in the EU category has any dependency on my Nationality(Srilanka) Or Germany(EU) (country of birth)?
3. I have my cousin brother in US, New york holding GC and given his address as reference in DS 260, his friend is ready to sponser us and fill I 134 as my brother is ineligible to sponsor dur to his income constraint. so as I read in instruction I see we need to submit proof of relationship. Where I don’t have any such proof as email / chats / photos with my brother’s friend. What will Be my action point on tis? Is it ok to proceed with his friend sponsorship?
Regards
Sharmi

1. In case if i get Indian passport in a yr after I got my Visa stamped(Hopefully) in my Srilankan passport , then will the visa gets transferred to my Indian passport or how it goes? (To be concerned – Being India is not eligible for DV Lottery)
)?
3. Whether the mother surname needs to match with the surname in mother passport?as his Birth certificate hold the same mother’s surnamr as in his passport.?
Regards
Sharmi

1. Stop overthinking. You present a valid passport. That’s it.
2. You may need to explain the relationship – use common sense.
3. No

Hello Brit,
My Case Number is 2023EU19XXX. How much do I have left to submit my DS-260?
May 24, 2022 at 20:08
You can submit anytime from now. We don’t know how badly organized this year will be so don’t wait months.

Sir my case number is 2023 AS22***
I’m going to send the documents now
But I would like to ask you if birth certificate in my country expires in 3 months
And they proceeded my case after that period, would it be a problem?!

Hi Simon,
1.Do I need to inform the embassy that I want to change location by KCC? My case is still “at NVC” so I’m not sent to any embassy yet. I wanted to try to change location from Warsaw to Vienna but i don’t know if i need Vienna’s permission to do so.
2. Do you think that if I explained the impact of the war and the massive overload of our embassy – KCC would rather change the location or they would deny it because it’s not a valid reason? Have you heard of any case recently that has changed their location (because of such impacts)?
Thanks in advance

1. https://britsimonsays.com/how-to-change-embassies/
2. Yes they will probably deny.

Hello BritSimon, please I’m a dv 2023 selectee with case number AFXXXXXXXX. I requested for unlock for me and my spouse. KCC unlocked only mine. I realized I made a mistake on my husband’s form with the vaccination question about whether he has received vaccinations according to US law. I said YES instead of NO. Please is it necessary to request for an unlock or I should ignore? Please answer me. Thank you
May 24, 2022 at 20:15
Not necessary to correct that.

Hi Brit. I submitted my DS-260 back in 14 July and still didnt receive 2NL or anything from KCC. Case number 2022AF49xxx. I unlocked to add new address in Jan 10 but i submitted on same day. Do you think the unlock has slowed down things for me, or it makes no difference? This could perhaps help future DV winners not to unlock for small, irrelevant updates.
May 28, 2022 at 20:33
The unlock is unlikely to have delayed it. You are waiting, just like thousands of others.

Hi Brit, could you please be kind enough to provide me an answer for this query.
If we go abroad (for a smaller time period, say visiting for 1 week) after submitting the DS260 document, do we need unlock the document again and update the below section to YES ? (for the moment it’s NO)
“Have you travelled to any countries/regions within the last five years?”

Hello sir, my oassport doesn’t have a surname block so when I apply the DV i made a surname of Yonis which is my last name, but My birth certificate, Passport, and Police certicate all doesn’t have a surname as they are and the DS260 ı put a surname. Fortunatelly with the surname or without the surname my name looks like same is there a problem that sir.
May 28, 2022 at 20:34
As long as you have listed your full legal name you should be OK.

Hello. Me and my husband won green card and probably on August our interview will be scheduled. I am pregnant now and our child will be born on October (We are DV2022 winners). I would like to ask what will happen if we decide to have the baby in our country and then fly to USA? If we got our visas on August will the child need a visa or have a problem to fly with us after his birth?
May 28, 2022 at 20:35
There is a process to add the baby. Discuss that at the interview.

Number questions.
The earliest interviews could start in October but yours will probably be later which gives you time to learn the process.

Hi Simon,
New visitor to your blog and youtube channel and your advice has been amazing. Really appreciate it!
Had one question on education background that was mentioned in your recent youtube video “DV Lottery | DV2023 Do you need to send in documents?”
You mentioned that applicants should have given their full history of their education “back to age12”. Does this mean I should include my primary education too? As I did not start secondary education until I was 13.
I see the DS-260 asks “Have you attended any educational institutions at a secondary level or above? ” – so just want to check if I need to add primary.
May 28, 2022 at 20:37
Beginning of secondary education.

Hello sir,
My accompany (wife) have both degree and diploma qualifications in addition to high school and also have teaching working experience for almost 10years. When completing the dv 260, I forgot to bring the diploma qualification but I included the degree and high school qualifications.
1. Will this affect our interview since I meet her during the diploma program
2. If yes, should I send KFC message to unlock her case?
3. If I don’t have a sponsor for i-134-affidavit-support but I can give proof for money in my account will that be okay?
May 28, 2022 at 20:39
1. No
2. No
3. Maybe. You need at least $10K per person.
