Hi Brit. Thank you so much for your very informative videos on Youtube and on your blog. I have been selected for the 2023 DV lottery but I have only done high school until year 10. I went on to vocational training and have supporting documents for the completion of those courses. I also have years of experience in the aviation industry but my field of work is under Job Zone 2 in the o’net job check. I have not filled in the DS-260 form and my case number is in the lower case range according to the selection letter received. Should I still take the risk and follow through with the application? Have there been similar cases you might be aware off that were still successful regardless of the requirements?
June 12, 2022 at 14:45
The requirements are actual requirements. If you do not meet the education or work experience standard, then you will not get the visa.
June 12, 2022 at 08:01
Dear Simon,
I am DV winner of this year ( 2023AS206** ) from Afghanistan, first of all thanks for your contributions.
I have 2 question,
The official data are yet to be disclosed but let’s assume 30k entries being selectees from AS, 40k from AF, 20 from EU and 10K from rest making a total of ( 100k entries being selectee ), now let’s assume 35k entries being hole or disqualified due to any reason we will be left with 65k entries valid, and let’s suppose 1.5 entries to derivative ratio so now we have roughly around 98k people eligible with only 55k visa available does this mean
1: that we still have around 60 percent chance of actually getting into interview and receiving visa even being a selectee?
And percentage of changes gets higher or lower than 60 depending on our case number.
2: does submitting early ds260 makes our chance of getting interview earlier? Suppose guy(A) with case number 20k submits ds260 in June and guy(B) with case number 10k submits ds260 in September, who will be interviewed first?
June 12, 2022 at 14:49
Your math is not accurate. In DV2022 there were 119k people “selected”. That includes derivatives, so that was around 60k cases. The holes are already taken out which is why the ranges in each year add up to more than 60k.
1. Yes selection doesn’t guarantee you will get a visa. Lower case numbers have a better chance.
2. Case number is key, so the lower case numbers go first, although that advantage reduces during later months as more case numbers are current.
June 12, 2022 at 10:52
Hello Mr Simon,
Is it right that kcc does not consider the case number order if the ds 260 submitted before 4 june,
In other words if someone has a high case number, but he submitted his ds 260 form before 4 june, does this make his chance better
June 12, 2022 at 14:50
No.
June 12, 2022 at 16:31
Dear Simon, sorry for my math, if the holes are already taken out and we have 119K people ( 60k cases ), does it mean that only 55k people out of 119k will get visa or 55k cases will get visa which will be around 110k people?
If 55k people gets visa than it means around 45% people out of 119k has the chance to get the visa, if that’s not the case and 55k cases gets the visa then we have around 95% chance of getting visa which is great!
June 12, 2022 at 17:03
55k out of 119k.
Of course many of those will not even want to proceed, or proceed, but not be approved, and that is why they overselect.

Hello Brit, I’m a winner of DV 2023 with case # 47***, I want to know what to enter for the occupation/education stage of my Ds260 since I’m currently a level 100 student of one of the Universities in my country Ghana. Please kindly assist me
June 12, 2022 at 18:58
Current occupation is student.
June 12, 2022 at 19:22
Dear Simon
I have submitted my ds260 since December of last year and have just submitted my documents in late April without being asked but still no reply, did I miss anything?
I have checked the save dv website and the embassy in Abu Dhabi have had some higher case numbers interviewed.
June 18, 2022 at 15:17
No you didn’t miss anything, although documents are not required for DV2022.
June 12, 2022 at 19:33
Hi Mr. Simon,
My wife was selected in the DV-2023 lottery(case number is 2023EU0003XXXX) We are almost done filling out the DS-260 form. Myself and our daughter are both included in the application.
I have a question about adding a newborn child to our application. My wife is nine months pregnant and we are expecting a baby boy this month.
Should we postpone the submission of the DS-260 form until after the child is born or we can add him to our application later?
What is the latest we can submit the DS-260 form?
Thank you and best regards
June 18, 2022 at 15:19
Since the child is expected any moment, yes I would delay submission until the baby is born. You do not need to wait until you have the passport and birth cert for the baby.
June 18, 2022 at 19:00
Thank you for your help, Mr.Simon. Have a wonderful day.
June 12, 2022 at 21:01
Dear Simon
I have submitted the ds260 form in Dec last year and my documents in late April without being asked to, do you reckon that I’ll still have a chance or did I miss somthing? The embassy at Abu Dhabi has issued visas for a number of higher case numbers than mine.
June 13, 2022 at 01:16
Hello, I had a mistake in the date of marriage
(26 July 2016 instead of 10 July 2016), l
asked to open Ds260 and I fixed the mistake
in my application, but I didn’t fix it on my
wife’s form. Should I request for unlock? cn

hope you help
June 18, 2022 at 15:20
No need. You can correct that at the interview.
June 13, 2022 at 02:43
Dear Simon,
As usual your advice is so helpful. My case number is 2023AF00011XXX. I want to fill the DS260 as main applicant and for my wife as well as for three kids. Only my passport is expired, now I may not able to renew as I am already a refuge applicant in Canada. How should I fill the DS260? You have said that it is possible to fill the DS 260 now, even if it is expired and get your new passport at the interview time?
Should I chose other document, instead of passport?
Thank you for your valuable and professional advice.
June 18, 2022 at 15:25
“Should I chose other document, instead of passport?”
Yes
June 13, 2022 at 08:28
Hi Brit.
My wife is DV2023 selectee, case 2023EU6###
We ve already submitted her DS260 form, and now filling out mine, in the Previous adresses section, since the age 16 I have lived in 8 different addresses. Among them the shortest stay is 3 months, others are longer than that.
Question is: Should I list all the 8 addresses one by one or should i make the list shorter? Isn’t that gonna be a complication.
Thank you
June 18, 2022 at 15:27
All 8.
June 13, 2022 at 08:32
Hi Brit, I am currently working on my DS260 Form (All forms filled up, but not submitted) because I am shifting my rented home to somewhere else, the address of which I do not know. Do you suggest submitting the DS260 form now? Or later, after having moved to the new address? If I submit now with my current address and later my address changes after I shift to the new home, do I have to unlock the DS260 form? Many thanks for your time.
June 18, 2022 at 15:28
You can do that either way. Make a decision.
June 13, 2022 at 12:00
Dear Simon thanks for your patience,
1: when we see previous years visa bulletin data we notice that at first 4-5 months the numbers are low for each month but after that it gets higher real quick, what do you think is the reason?
Does the process starts slow, if not then how could they process three to four times more in the second half?
Or does the hole numbers are less in first 10k and and gets more after that?
2: I am 2023 winner in Asia bearing 20k case number from Afghanistan, on a wild guess do you think that I’ll get the chance for interview?
Thanks for your time!
June 18, 2022 at 16:22
1. The holes are higher in the later number ranges, so yes, that speeds things up – but also the last couple of years have not been well managed so the VB going current was in order to try and save the year – it did NOT mean they handled all the cases in the region.
2. No wild guesses from me.
June 13, 2022 at 13:31
Hi Simon, Just wanted to best understand things.
1.My embassy is the London (UK) embassy – do you have a rough understanding of how responsive they are as an embassy (do they get through cases a lot or do they even have any cases as they are not among the eligible countries)?
2. I understand they go by case number order … is this dependant on region or on embassy (will I be waiting for the all the case numbers ahead of me in the AF region, minus the holes or is my order dependent on how many people are ahead of me that are stationed at the London embassy?)
3. I am AF37k I know i’ve got a while to go… if any …but just wanted some help info if possible
June 18, 2022 at 16:33
1. They handle quite a number of DV cases from other countries.
2. That is not clearly understood since the pilot program is new.
June 13, 2022 at 14:02
Hi Brit, I have just submitted my DS260 form for DV. I hold a valid B1/B2 Visa, if I want to travel to the US next month for a short vacation, will there be any issue?
June 18, 2022 at 16:33
No
June 13, 2022 at 14:39
Hi Simon,
I want to ask for your advice. I have married my wife after being selected for DV22. We have followed all the procedures to add her and we have received our interview in the next month.
After we registered our marriage, my wife applied to change her surname to mine. You had previously stated that it would be fine to take both the old passport (with her maiden name) and the new passport (with her new surname) to the interview, as the consular officers would understand this. What I want to know is whether I should email the consular office ahead of the interview to prepare them that this would be the case? If so, is there something specific that I must state in the email?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
June 14, 2022 at 15:59
I have the same question 🙂 we will get married in three months and my (then) wife will take my name and order a new passport. Should we open the application later if now Interview is scheduled or just take the new passport with us. Probably the interview is before they will open the application again since my CN is pretty low 2023EU7xxx
June 18, 2022 at 16:33
Seems like my earlier comments already covered that point.
June 13, 2022 at 15:20
Hi Brit,
At the Interview and also at DS260 i wrote the address of my sponsor which is in Texas, But im planning to go in NYC, Will this be a problem ?
Can the officer at airport deny my entry ?
Thank you
June 18, 2022 at 16:34
No problem.
June 13, 2022 at 16:01
Greetings BritSimon,
Mihail from Bulgaria here. 2022EU11760 Sofia embassy.
I just wanted to say that everything with my case went smoothly and right on time. I was scheduled for May 16th, and my VISA was approved in a matter of minutes. The conversation with the interviewing consular felt more like a routine procedure than anything else. She was real nice though.
Also our embassy has been great so far. I believe that all 220 selectees will have their interviews. They have also been accommodating a few Ukrainian cases, and some OC cases too.
You have been a tremendous help, and i am really glad that you are around to share with us your thoughts and knowledge.
For anybody out there who is reading this, if you have just been selected, and you are about to get yourself into the mix, or you are just someone who is looking for a good trustworthy reliable source, know that you are in the right place here. Always double check the information you have been fed. It is full of imposters out there.
Good Luck! And once good huge thanks BritSimon!
June 18, 2022 at 16:35
Glad to hear it went well!
Best of luck with the new life!
June 13, 2022 at 16:50
Hi Simon, hope you doing good! I am filling out ds-260 and faced this question “Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law? ” I might have one, but I lost it. So what should I answer? should I say yes since I will have a medical exam or should I say NO?
June 18, 2022 at 16:35
“No” is the best answer.
June 13, 2022 at 17:46
Hi Brit
How a u. What about DV 2020 hopes?
When DV 2020 interview start?
How is the selection done for 9,095 visas?
June 18, 2022 at 16:36
There is an appeal that will be heard in 3 or 4 months time. No further info until then.
June 13, 2022 at 18:20
I have been selected for DV with Case Number 2023AS6###.
My questions are,
1. In DS 260, under my spouse’s “Family Information”, I filled the Cities of Birth of both my spouse’s parents according to their passports. However, in my husband’s Birth Certificate the Places of Birth of his parents appear as the districts which those cities belong to. Since the DS 260 and Spouse’s Birth Certificate details don’t match, should we unlock and update these?
2. Or should we submit/take for the interview (depending on our next step), the certified passport copies and birth certificates of the spouse’s parents?
3. Do we need to get our documents (from our country of birth) attested from the country we currently live in because that is where we are going to face the DV interview at?
June 18, 2022 at 16:39
1. No
2. No
3. Read the instructions for your country.
June 18, 2022 at 18:09
Hey Brit,
Thanks for all help.
This maybe bit annoying just want to clarify.
1. Did you mean by “read the instructions for your country” you mean the interview holding country or country of birth?
2. We filled our DS 260 very carefully and didn’t miss anything. However countries we have traveled only appears in my husband’s form. Am I supposed to see it on my (main applicant’s) DS 260 form as well because it doesn’t appear on my form?
June 18, 2022 at 19:48
1. Both is wise.
2. Yes
June 13, 2022 at 20:30
simon, i made a slight error while filling places i have lived since i turned 16. I wrote down the address and dates correctly but when filing out the last address instead of writing the answer to, from when i lived in that address to when, i was supposed to write….to date, lets say 21.05.2007, instead i wrote 21.05.1994 which is my DOB. I turned 16 when i was in highschool, but since i was born till 15years i was at home and used my home address. What this means is my last address to that question streches past the correct date, which was supposed to be 21.05.2007. Now my question is should i unlock and correct the dates to 21.05.2007 when i turned 16? My case no is AF85xx 2023. NB: i had previously applied for a us visa and used my home address as my address.
June 18, 2022 at 16:40
No need to unlock
June 14, 2022 at 03:00
Dear Simon,
As I’m approaching my interview date in a few weeks’ time, I’m worried that I still don’t have a US address to name as my residential one at the interview. I only have a distant friend’s US address who allowed me to use it as a postal one during this entire process. If I got the DV visa, my plan would be to start off with Airbnb, apply for jobs after my arrival in the USA and only then rent a permanent place based on the location of my work. Alternatively, if I got the visa, I might even find a US job via the Internet prior to moving to the States, so I’d know where I’d be living based on my job location.
So, what would be the clever thing to do at the interview, address-wise?
a) Can I mention that friend’s US postal address at my interview as my residential one (even though I’m not gonna stay there)? Will they be checking? Will they be contacting that friend to see if it’s true?
b) If (a) is impossible or wrong, what’s the alternative? I can’t risk booking an Airbnb place in advance, without having the Diversity Visa yet, can I?
c) Is it true that whatever address I provide the interviewing officer with, it should remain my official registration address (for tax-related matters, etc.) until I get the GC?
d) If I name a Californian address at the interview, but then, after getting the visa, land a job in NY, can my first arrival be in New York, if I initially specified, say, LA, at the interview?
Basically, how serious is this address thing at the interview? What residential address do they ideally expect a person with no US connections to mention, if he/she can’t make any accommodation arrangements without the diversity visa (i.e. before the interview)?
I mean, I want to be honest, but not naive. I have the money, skills and qualifications to easily get a good job in the States, once I have the DV visa / Green Card, and subsequently a place to live and a US address. At the same time, I don’t have anyone in the US, hence no residential address at the moment (only a postal one). Yet, I don’t want to naively ruin the interview because of this one detail. How do I go about this?
June 17, 2022 at 01:54
Hi Ryan. In my interview there was no question or mention of the address I supplied in my DS260, which is also a tenuous but reliable friend. I plan to get my GC sent there and to collect it and then return home to sort my affairs for a few months. The interview was very quick, mostly confirming a couple of basic details e.g. My age, name of university attended. I only got asked one question of substance. I was expecting ‘where do you plan to live?’ or ‘what job do you plan to pursue?’ but the question was so simple it through me a bit: ‘why do you want to come to the US?’ I wouldn’t worry if I was you.
June 17, 2022 at 17:14
hail_mary, thanks for the reply. Sounds easy and encouraging. But interviewing officers vary, don’t they? It’s not always the same questions, I assume.
June 18, 2022 at 16:41
Jeez. Dude. Stop overthinking. It’s just an address to mail the GC to. Use the friend.
June 14, 2022 at 04:25
Dear Simon
Thanks help during 2021-22,
Finally My daughter got Green Card in DV2022 OC region,
When she was applied only 17 years old, than she was win by self,
In interviews Visa officer didn’t asked her,
I134 form
Finance documents
DS5535
They checked only
Birth certificate
PCC
High school records
As per you guide us, if you have minors mistake in DS 260, do update at interview time, she did it at interview time,
Also she also asked them, I have another family category file, officer said it’s ok it’s not going effect on DV, you’re right sir.
Thanks again
Bye now
June 18, 2022 at 16:43
I wish your daughter the best of luck.
June 14, 2022 at 07:38
Dear Brit,
Thanks for your invaluable information.
We are DV 2022AS3XXX selectees, a couple and a child, and we did our interviews at U.S Embassy in Stockholm in March 2022. Our cases were refused due to the background check for me. Recently I contacted the Embassy and asked for the latest updates and they said that my case is still not ready but they can issue visas for my wife and daughter.
Would it be OK if we ask them to issue my wife and daughter’s visa and how it would affect my case?
Under which period their visas and later my visa will be valid for? Basically, I am concern about the actual validity dates which are going to be on our visas.
Once more thanks for your all generous contributions and wish you all the best.
F
June 18, 2022 at 16:45
If your spouse is the winner, yes you can do that. Their visas will have validity of 6 months from the date of medical.
June 14, 2022 at 08:08
Hi Simon,
I am a DV2023 winner .
I have already submitted my DS 260 form. I have a doubt, I have completed my Cambridge A Levels, so under ‘Highest Level of Education’ I selected “High School , No Degree” and for course of study “GCE AS and A Level”. But some people are saying it should go as “High School Diploma “and “Academic” respectively.
1.Is what I have entered correct?
2.If it’s wrong what should I enter?
3.Do I need to unlock my DS260 since its the critical factor.
Thanks a lot
June 18, 2022 at 16:45
You can decide for yourself.
June 14, 2022 at 08:17
Hello Simon,
I am a Marcos from Ghana and a winner for dv 2023 with case number in the region of AF 17xxx. My wife is currently pregnant and I want to know what happens if she give birth after filling the Ds260 form or she give birth after we pass through the interview..
Infact, what if we were schedule for interview and she give birth?
I would want to know about all the implications associated with this issue.

Hi Simon and fellow Oceania DV 2022 winners,
FYI, after a nervous wait and contemplating changing consulates to Suva, Fiji, we finally received our 2NL from the Sydney US consulate scheduled for 3rd week of July last week.
A couple of questions please re preparing for the interview:
1. Three of my kids have new passports vs the ones we put in our DS260 form last year. Is this going to be a problem or can the consular officer update on the day of our interview?
2. My daughter turned 21 in May this year however was under 21 at the time of our application last year and at the time of filling out our DS260 form, is this going to be a problem and if so how do I address this issue?
Appreciate your valuable insights as always.
Regards,
Sharlene
June 18, 2022 at 11:37
Congrats! I’m DV 2022 and still waiting on my interview confirmation (Sydney, case number 2400). What case number are you? Good luck with your interview.
June 18, 2022 at 16:48
1. No problem. Update at the interview.
2. Your daughter will be covered by the CSPA. Read about it at the link below and take printed copies of the links I provide in case the officer doesn’t understand it well.

Thanks Simon,
Quick question please, reading through the Q&A’s I notice bloggers querying I134 form, I don’t recall seeing this in our DS260 form as a requirement. Is this form required for everyone or certain category of people as the documents on the US Australia consulate website only request, marriage certificate, high school certificate, etc.
Rob, our case no is in the 700’s and good luck.
Regards,
June 19, 2022 at 14:38
Every DV case has to be considered for whether the selectee will become a public charge. In most countries, that requires showing savings, or an I-134. Because of the general affluence in Australia (plus good education, almost accurate English language skills, and legendary couch surfing abilities), The embassy in Sydney rarely if ever asks for an I-134.
June 20, 2022 at 06:26
Thanks for your help as always, Simon.
June 14, 2022 at 13:06
My case number is 2022AF37xxx and it’s current now. What is current mean and when I expect to receive the 2NL. Thanks for all your efforts
June 18, 2022 at 16:50
It means you are eligible to be interview, but whether you get an interview or not depends on the capacity of your embassy.
June 18, 2022 at 18:04
Thanks for your prompt reply, I am hearing that the Embassy in my country are moving very slowly which mean that I can lose my interview, so is it will be better to do the interview in another country.
June 18, 2022 at 19:47
Possibly.
June 14, 2022 at 13:35
Hi Simon, am a DV 2022 winner and have a daughter doing a Law degree that and still has 3 years to graduate (Course takes 4 – 6 years). My question is if i would like her to finish the course how can i go about it? Is there special permission i should ask? The plan is to have her study and only go to US whenever they close for the semester. Will she loose her GC due to the in and out travel? Shes a derivative. Thanks
June 18, 2022 at 16:52
She must maintain residence in the USA, and whilst absences are allow they can get suspicious if she spends too much time abroad. She could use an I-131 to get permission to be abroad for up to 2 years.
However, I would also recommend she transfers to a US college to finish her degree (the last year or two) since that will be much more valued in the USA as she starts looking for work.
June 20, 2022 at 14:21
Thank you!
June 14, 2022 at 17:44
Hello Simon,
I was selected for DV2022 while in the US and went through the AOS and did my biometrics last month. I was just wondering if there’s a way to know how many diversity visas are remaining for this fiscal year.
June 18, 2022 at 16:56
Right now there are plenty. There are many interviews scheduled for July and August however.
June 14, 2022 at 17:45
hi Simon,
my name is Miriam, ‘m a DV2023 selectee from Eritrea wiz case number 2k. in ma dv application i had selected dat i was passport exempted and selected option number 2(nationalist of a communist controlled country) so if by any chance i get a passport right now does that make me eligible for z DV? or is it reason enough to select dat option as ‘m Eritrean (coz ‘m not sure if they consider ma country as a couminist).
thanks,
June 18, 2022 at 16:56
The passport rule was removed so you are fine.
June 14, 2022 at 18:05
Hi Brit,
I just want to know at which stage does the application gets rejected?
1.Is it before or after the interview?
2.Since education standards are different from each country( like High School, Diploma and certificate course )when will they verify the minimum educational qualification needed to be entitled for this DV program.
3. Is the DV 260 form has covered all the minimum eligible criteria under ” Educational qualification completed ” drop down options? Bcz I fear that, if I select anything wrong option here, it might lead to the rejection of my application.
Thank you.
June 18, 2022 at 16:58
1. After.
2. At the interview or via checking after the interview if the answer is not clear.
3. THat selection has no impact.
June 14, 2022 at 21:04
Hello Brit, we just submit the DS 260 form, but we just saw that the question about “Have you traveled to any countries/regions within the five year” we answered it, but it’s seems like it didn’t answered it on my wife’s form. It’s nowhere on the form.
What should we do? Who should we contact for unlocking or changing the question or it doesn’t that important? It’s weird because it’s not even made an error on the page, which usually give us error for another questions.
Thanks a lot!
June 18, 2022 at 16:59
Depending on your case number you could unlock.
June 20, 2022 at 14:39
Sorry… Case number is: 2023EU1XXX
We sent mail 5 days ago, but still nothing, still is unlocked. Is it still chance for unlocking or we should send another mail?
Thank You
June 20, 2022 at 18:50
Patience.
July 5, 2022 at 20:20
Hello Brit, it’s me again. It’s been 3 weeks from mailing for unlock.
We got one mail with “thank you for your inquiry” and still nothing, no unlocking.
Should we email for unlocking one more time or should we wait still?
Again, 2023EU1XXX is our case number and we want to update our country traveling. Should we be concerned about this question, can we be denied about that traveling question?
Thank You in advance
July 10, 2022 at 22:23
Wait a few more days then try again.
June 20, 2022 at 15:51
Oh sorry Brit. 2023EU1XXX is the case number.
Is it still chance for unlocking?
We sent the mail 7 days ago, and still nothing on the application. We really need to unlock for changing the answer.

Hi,
We had the same issue and when we researched, found this info on page 59-62 on https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/DS-260-Exemplar.pdf. However, go through it and confirm with Brit Simon
June 20, 2022 at 15:47
Hey Hasali, did you sent an email for unlocking for that particular question? I didn’t understand in this sampler. Should we keep the question unanswered?
June 15, 2022 at 07:51
Hello Brit, thanks for great effort.
I got my interview appointment at the US Embassy in Cairo in August.
I have a question about the documents:
I ask about the high school certificate from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I cannot authenticate or translated it in Egypt, because it is a Saudi document. I have not traveled to the Kingdom for years and I do not have channels of communication with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. What should I do?
Note:
I have a bachelor’s degree from an Egyptian university, and I can translate and authenticated it, is this sufficient or not?
Thank you

All I can say is follow the instructions.

Good Morning Mr.Simon,
This is the 4th time I’m trying to post my comment here, I hope it’s successful.
My wife was selected for further processing in the DV-2023 lottery(case number is 2023EU0003XXXX). We are almost done filling out the DS-260 form.
Myself, my wife and our daughter are all included in the application.
My wife is nine months pregnant and we are expecting a baby boy this month.
My questions are:
1.Should we postpone the submission of the DS-260 form until after our child is born or we can add him to our application later?
2.What is the latest we can submit the DS-260 form?
Thank you and best regards
June 18, 2022 at 17:03
Comments are held until I approve them. Patience.

Hi Mr Simon Hope you are well. Im DV 2022 Winner AF41XXXX. I received details of my interview in a few months. I have a few questions.
1) Should my visa be approved, do I submit my passport?
2) Should it be denied, do I still leave my passport at the embassy?
3) Is it possible to change the mailing address to use when they mail my passport back to me?
Thanks
June 18, 2022 at 17:53
1. Yes. At the interview.
2. Varies based on what type of refusal it is.
3. Yes – at the interview.

Hello Brit,
Thank You so much for all your help.
I will be happy if you will be able to assist me.
I made activation to my GC in the of October 2018, I’m in USA around 2.5 years (I flew to my country few times, but never more than 6 months). Now I’m considering to move back to my country for permanent, but I’m afraid to lose my Green card without getting the citizenship.
Do you have any idea for me?
Thank You!
June 18, 2022 at 17:56
You will lose your GC if you live somewhere else. It is for living in the USA, not visiting occasionally.

Hi
June 16, 2022 at 06:32
Sir thank you very much for the support and your time! We all appreciate it very much !I need to clarify few things.
1.My case number is AS22*** so do I have to send the documents now or should I wait?
2.If my BC is not in English ,I have to get it translated before sending the documents right? and do I have to send both?
3.These last two is to get the accurate idea about the process..
I saw some people being worried about where they set up there interview location. If all the cases are processed according to the case number do they have to worry?
4.Is it not possible for someone in another country in my region get the interview with more higher case number?(AS23***)What if they got like 80 dv winners while in my I got 250 ?won’t their cases will be processed faster?
Thanks a lot and sorry for asking tooo many questions.
June 18, 2022 at 18:10
1. As of now no one that I know of has been asked for documents for DV2023. So – I’m still waiting before assuming that the pilot program has extended to DV2023.
2. Read and follow instructions.
3. Some people in DV2022 will lose their chance because their embassy decides they will not accommodate the full amount of cases needed. However, it is too soon to assume that will happen in DV2023.
4. The question is unclear.
June 19, 2022 at 04:03
Thank you for your response.
4.Is there a possibility for a higher case number(18000) from another country in my region to get selected over a lower case number(15000) in my country.?
Because let’s say my country got 250 winners and AS15000 is the 250th person while another one got 50 winners and AS18000 th is the 50th winner
Or it never over laps the sequence?
Thank you
June 19, 2022 at 14:27
It has nothing to do with country. But yes, some higher cases are being scheduled before lower ones.

Dear Simon,
We got I-34 from a sponsor in San Francisco who is work related known person to us since 2 and half years. We do not have agreement with sponsor to host us and also we our self too are intending to live in Jersey city or best option nearby in terms of affordability in future and job prospectus. We will be staying at hotel or airbnb initially as we do not have any other host. We are going for interview at the end of this month.
In such case, CO may pose question to us in our interview why we are going to hotel instead of sponsor? or may be there any issue if CO know that we will stay in hotel?
Thank you.
June 18, 2022 at 18:10
No problem.
June 16, 2022 at 11:01
Thanks again Simon for all your hard work and wisdom.
I’m a DV 2022 selectee for OC18**.
I’ve submitted my IV application promptly and know just waiting/hoping for the 2NL to be emailed to me. When I applied for the DV I was living in Australia and so my region is Oceania. In the meantime I’ve moved to Spain, Europe. I’ve informed the KCC and they unlocked my form so that I might change address to attend the interview here in Spain. So now the form states:
YOUR CASE IS CURRENTLY AT: MADRID / FOREIGN STATE OF CHARGEABILITY: AUSTRALIA.
I’m just wondering if the European case numbers being currently processed are in the late-thousands, would that mean my case will not be processed, considering it is 18**
Or what in your experience would you say happens when someone changes their case office pre-processing?
Thanks again (and hopefully my question makes sense too)
June 18, 2022 at 18:11
I can’t predict what will happen in your case.
June 16, 2022 at 12:47
Hi dear Simon,
My case number ends with 12761 (2023 winner from Iran). I submitted my DS-260 on June 4, but I will be moving to USA on a F1 student visa on July 19th.
At the same time, my passport needs to be changed before September 2023, same is going to be true for my address. In addition, I am going to have a SSN as I need to work part time at the campus.
However, at the time of my DS0-260 submission, all the info I provided was up to date and completely accurate. So all things considered, should I unlock my DS-260 and update it before this October with new information (new passport, new address in the USA, SSN, new travel date to USA, but provided the info for my student visa, which was my latest U.S. visa.) ? If so, when I should do it ? Is it going to delay my case if I do it before October 1, 2023 ?
Please let me know for someone with my situation, who is going to be in the USA before getting KCC email and is going to be interviewed at the Ankara embassy, is it more prudent to make changes to DS-260 (update it !) or present the new information to the officer at the time of the interview ? I just want no delays in my process as my number is not very low. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Reza.

It is too soon to be worrying about this. Your CN won’t be ready until well in to next year. At that point, you may well be better off going through AOS.
June 20, 2022 at 04:47
Thanks for the reply and sorry for the duplicate messages. The page was not submitting my comments!
June 21, 2022 at 13:11
Just to follow up:
Based on the historical date on the bulletin, a CN of 12000 is expected to be current somewhere between May-July 2023. And as you know, after I-485 submission, USCIS needs 6 months or more to process my case. In that situations, it is technically impossible to go through AOS as I am going pass September! what was the rational for suggesting that I apply for AOS?
All the best,
Reza.
June 21, 2022 at 14:53
DV related AOS cases are processed faster than published timelines for other AOS cases.

Dear Simon,
I watched your recent video about how to fill the I-134. If my sponsor has annual income of 35K and her spouse 40K. And if 100% of poverty guideline is 44.6K( what is needed for 8 family). Does she still be my sponsor since their total income is 75K?
Thank you for your HELP!!!
Best Regards
June 18, 2022 at 19:06
Yes that is fine. The sponsor needs an income that exceeds the FPG – and 75K does exceed.

Hello Simon,
Hope all is well. 2022AS20***. Interview in Cairo in Mid August (received my 2NL). When i go on the CGI website to schedule my interview appointment and passport pickup location etc., near the end on step 8 it says ‘please confirm your IV case ID to proceed’ and when i do it says ‘the case ID you have entered cannot be found. the case number i am inputting is ‘2022AS00020***’ but it wont work. I am ready on the status check and got my 2NL a few days ago. I tried inputting my case number without the leading zeros but it still didn’t work. Any advice?
Thanks!
June 18, 2022 at 19:08
What is the CGI website?
June 18, 2022 at 21:02
It’s the standard website to schedule interviews at the US embassy in Egypt. I used the same website to schedule for my b1/b2 and a friend used it to schedule for his h1 visa.
https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/
June 18, 2022 at 22:17
I don’t have any idea about that website.

Hi Simon,
This is regarding Registration of DV appointment and Delivery address on https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ma/ (For CSB, Morocco)
As per instructions at https://travel.state.gov/ for Casablanca consulate, I was trying to register documents delivery address and appointment. I was successful in registering an address for document delivery but I did not find an option for visa appointment registration.
While clicking “schedule appointment” the following three options are given but there is no option of appointment registration,
1) IV 221(g) Appointment Follow-up
2) NVC Rescheduling
3) IV Document Renewal & Drop off
To check further, I tried to go through number 1 option although it is irrelevant to my purpose then i get message there on web page that this case number con not be find.
Question: May be it is possible that CSB consulate just require registration of delivery address?.
June 18, 2022 at 19:09
Yes.
June 17, 2022 at 01:43

Dear Simon,
I posted my question over here but it does not submit it. Why is that ?
June 18, 2022 at 19:12
Questions are sometimes held for my review. Patience.
June 18, 2022 at 19:11
I don’t have any suggestions.
June 17, 2022 at 09:39
Hi Brit, 2022AF30K. 1) when registering for the interview appointment, do I create an account for myself only(main applicant) or I do that for myself and derivatives too? 2) after creating the account, how long does it normally take for one to receive the email to confirm the interview appointment date? 3) at the end of the registration process, does one receive details of the user account created and an IVR account identification number? I just want to be certain that I did the right thing. Thank you for your time and patience.
June 18, 2022 at 19:13
1. One account.
2& 3. Consulate systems vary, so I don’t know.
