Hi Simon,
Thank you for your efforts, your are a very valuable resource to all the DV ppl.
I made a stupid mistake when I was registering my appointment in the usvisa-info
I received my 2nl recently for AUG DV 22 CN AF4K I made the registration for the main applicant but not the derivative I want to know if all can go to the interview (winner and derivatives) or only the main winner.
In the website usvisa-info when trying to ADD APPLICANT it says that the first appointment should be cancelled. I’m confused and lost.
June 18, 2022 at 19:14
No need to add applicant in that system. One account is all you need.

Please could you give me legal advice and information.
Thank you
June 18, 2022 at 19:15
Interviewing with her would be the best idea, otherwise you would need a family based process which could take years.
June 17, 2022 at 16:29
Hello Simon,
I’m a dv2022 winner i sent my AOS package in april and did my biometrics in may and still nothing about the interview, I’m really worried about the remaining visa numbers, Is there a way to expedite my interview or to know how many visas are remaining?
June 18, 2022 at 19:16
No – but the Field offices are normally pretty fast toward the end of the year.
June 17, 2022 at 21:07
Hi Brit,
Thank you for your support. I need some assistance. please guide me .
1. I have lived 6 months in Dubai and now I have shifted from there. Do I have to take a police report from Dubai ?
2. I have changed my religion. But not in official way. Is change of a religion would be a problem to any of the application or to the interview?
3.whether I have to enter my deleted social media account to the ds 260 form ?
Thank you !
June 18, 2022 at 19:19
1. Check the instructions.
2. That has no bearing on this process.
3. Yes

Dear Simon,
I am DV winner of this year ( 2023AS24XXX ) from Sri Lanka, first of all thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
I have 3 question,
– is there a possibility to current my DV lottery number in next year?
– I am looking forward to apply for student visa in USA and will it be a problem to my green card process if my student visa get rejected?
– Can I apply for dv lottery 2024 ? and is it good to apply 2024 DV lottery since I win DV lottery 2023?
Thank you very much.
June 18, 2022 at 19:42
1. It is too soon to know anything for DV2023 numbers.
2. Submitting a DS260 can make non immigrant applications a little more risky.
3. Yes
June 18, 2022 at 20:02
I am already residing in USA, hoping to apply for AOS. By the way, I was going to change my current visa to a F1. In any way if my F1visa application get rejected, will it be a issue for I-485?
June 18, 2022 at 22:15
You have to be continuously in status to be able to adjust status.
June 18, 2022 at 14:08
Hi brit,I got an email from kcc saying the my case is current and once they have an interview date they will send me a letter….can you tell what that means.
June 18, 2022 at 19:43
This email comes when your case is “actively” being scheduled. It’s a special point in time. If your embassy is working, and has capacity for your case, you can expect a 2NL within the next couple of weeks. However, if your embassy is NOT working you can be in a kind of limbo. At this point you cannot make any changes, because KCC has allocated the case to your embassy, but not sent it to the embassy yet. If the embassy does not have full capacity, and there are more cases in front of you than they can interview in the month, then your interview will be pushed to a later month. This email does not guarantee you will receive an interview, because some embassies have many more people (in the same status as you) than they can accommodate.

Hello Mr Simon,
Hope you are doing well.
Sorry to make one more question regarding our DV Lottery 2023.
We having a new born baby in this December ,before the delivery we are filling the DS26O form, and later we should unlock as you suggested before.
For new born baby here in Asia its take 6 months to get passport and it will be June 2023. If we get our interview scheduled before getting the passport of new born baby how we can postpone it? And if we doesn’t get passport on time , is our lottery selection dv2023 will be wasted?
Is there any solution that you can give us please, because our timing to unlock ds260 and getting passport for new baby is very critical.
Looking forward to hearing from you and many thanks for your valuable suggestions.
Kind Regards.
June 18, 2022 at 19:44
Look for faster options to get a passport.
June 18, 2022 at 16:35
Hi Brit,
Trust this finds you well.
I am a 2022AS1*** winner and my case is currently in Refused (221g) status. My medical has expired since its been over 6 months. Please advise if I should do a re-test and keep the documents ready (in order not to waste time) or wait for the embassy to come back to me.
God Bless!
June 18, 2022 at 19:45
Wait for the embassy.
June 18, 2022 at 16:55
Hi Brit. I got my 2NL yesterday. Do I need to do anything before the interview? I heard people saying I need to confirm it by registering somewhere.
June 18, 2022 at 19:46
Follow the embassy specific instructions.
June 18, 2022 at 17:56
Hello Simon,
Interview in Cairo, Egypt but I have an AS number. Do i need an 1-134 if i have no derivatives and my family has $500k+ in the bank?
Thank you
June 18, 2022 at 19:46
Since the money is not yours, an I-134 would be safer.
June 18, 2022 at 18:21
Dear Simon,
I‘m 2022 winner EU24xxx from Germany, Frankfurt embassy.
I asked KCC for an update and got the ready to be scheduled for an interview reply and that my case is at the embassy. The CEAC page isn’t showing that, it doesn’t seem to be updated.
I haven’t received a 2NL yet. How long does it normally take to get one when the case is ready?
Do you think there is a good chance to get one or do I need to worry that they run out of time or visas beforehand?
Thank you in advance and have a great weekend!
Liz

I can’t guess your situation, or predict the future.

It’s your risk to take.
June 18, 2022 at 19:52
Hello Brit. I would like to acknowledge your efforts to guide people about updated DV info. I also need your opinion keeping in view the currents efforts by KCC. I am a DV 2022 winner from AS region with CN 25*** and my place of chargeability is Abu Dhabi, UAE. Because I am basically from Pakistan and at the time of filing DS 260, I was there too so I decided to appear in Islamabad embassy while filling my DS 260. Now I am currently in Hungary on student status but all my family/dependants is in Pakistan. I check the ceac stats and according to that the Current numbers in AS and all regions in Islamabad embassy is till 20000 whereas in Budapest, Hungary the current numbers overall are till 40000 and in AS its 28000. Please guide me shall I wait a bit more to get my case 25*** become current in Islamabad in coming months, as only 3.5 months are left and KCC is going well to arrange max people as per consulate slot availability or would it be appropriate to write KCC to move my interview place to Budapest, considering that my all family is in Pakistan and only I am in Budapest. Please give me your expert opinion.
Regards,
June 18, 2022 at 22:14
If you are “current for interview processing” status, then you cannot make changes. If you are not at that status then your hope of getting scheduled is very small.
June 18, 2022 at 20:54
Hei Simon, Thank you for the video about i-134.
My question is regarding the person who accepted to fill for me the form is married, but he did not include his spouse. Is that a problem? Can he include her and write the sum as 0 USD?
June 18, 2022 at 22:17
Yes he should include her.
June 18, 2022 at 22:27
Thanx, and her annual salary even if his is enough for the requirement?
June 18, 2022 at 21:44
Hei Simon,
Again about i-134. The beneficiary sign only in case is the one who is sponsor himself?
Otherwise only the sponsor has to sign the form.

Hii Brit, I have won the DV 2023 & my case number is AF43xxx.I have watched your recent video on filling the i-134. My questions are;
1. Is it OK to have my sponsor(person who will fill the i-134) different from the host person I have put in my ds260.
2. Will the CO ask why my host & sponsor are different?
June 18, 2022 at 22:19
1. Yes
2. No
June 18, 2022 at 23:44
Hi Brit it is possible to register a case at the embassy of your country while the ceac status says still on “transit” and not “ready”? Thanks for all you do to help D.V winners sir. God bless you
June 19, 2022 at 14:26
Yes
June 19, 2022 at 03:31
Hi Brit, I did my police clearance certificate in Dubai on October 14 2021 and had submitted when document submission was still effective. I have my interview at the US Embassy Yaounde August 2022. Wil it be accepted at the interview?
June 19, 2022 at 14:26
Technically, yes, but if it is easy to replace, do so.
June 19, 2022 at 04:07
Hi Brit, regarding the pcc, I have a worry with one of the points on specific instructions at US Embassy Yaounde which says if you obtained a pcc and submitted it to NVC more than one year ago, then a more recent pcc must be brought at the embassy. I obtained a pcc in Dubai on October 14 2021 and submitted to KCC when doc submittion was still effective. My interview date at embassy is in August 2022( this is less than one year ago). This means according to them my pcc is still valid right? Thank you for your valuable time. Really appreciate ????
June 19, 2022 at 06:20
Hi Simon.
I am a DV Lottery 2022EU89XX winner. We were scheduled for an interview in August and if we are successful, can we get a deferment for our daughter who is attending university in the Czech Republic so that she can graduate and keep her green card.
Respectfully, Anvar.
June 19, 2022 at 14:29
No. But she can enter (within the 6 month validity) the USA to activate and then return home for up to 1 year.
June 19, 2022 at 06:35
Hi Simon,
I am a winner from Germany (CN 2023EU7xxx) with a relatively low casenumber. I will merry my fiancé end of September. Immediately after our marriage I will open my case to fill in her DS-260 before there start processing the applications in October.
Since she will change her last name and has to order a new passport, what to do you think. Should we fill the application with her old passport (old maiden name) and reopen it again to change everything when she received the new passport, or delay the application and wait for the new passport? This can take up to 8 weeks and I am scared that this James the process in a bad way.
Best from Berlin!
June 19, 2022 at 14:31
First, I would have suggested marrying earlier, or delaying submission of the DS260. Second, as soon as you marry, she will have changed her legal name, so use that name. Get the new passport for the interview.
June 21, 2022 at 07:22
Thanks so much for your input, Simon! We tried to get an earlier appointment for our wedding, buts currently is almost impossible.. September was the earliest. The new passport should be definitely ready for the interview. We will order them on express so that we will have it by end of September and (hopefully) send the DS-260 also end of September.
Should I write KCC to open the case right now?
Can you shortly explain if there is some kind of deadline? I learned that the KCC starts working on the application on 1st of October. Do they also start with the lower case numbers? So is happening, if we sent our DS-260 f.e. on 5. October. Is there any problem with that?
Thank you so much.
Viktor
June 21, 2022 at 14:50
There is no specific deadline. Yes they start with lower case numbers.
June 19, 2022 at 07:29
Hello Simon, thank you for all the updates. I have a worry. When i was filling my ds 260 form I made a mistake with the country where my passport is Issued . Actually it’s issued in China/ Beijing but I said cameroon . Should I unlock my ds 260 and correct it? Im winner 2023AF2xxx. ?
June 19, 2022 at 14:32
If it is a Cameroonian passport, then the issuing authority is Cameroon, even if that happened in China.
June 19, 2022 at 07:57
Hi dear Simon,
My case number is 2023AS12761. I submitted my DS-260 on June 4th, and at the time of submission, all the info I provided was accurate and up to date. However, I am going to be in the U.S. with a F1 visa from July 19th onwards.
I also need to changed my passport before September (it will expire), going to have a new address in the U.S., a new SSN as I need to work part time at the campus, and new travel date to the U.S. (but on my DS-260, I provided the info for my student visa, which was my latest).
1-All things considered, should I unlock my DS-260 form and update it before October, or just present the new information at the time of the interview?
2- If so, is it going to delay my case as my number is not very low?
I just want my case to be processed without any delays or further administrative processing due to the new and emerging information. Also, I am going to be in the USA studying while receiving the KCC email and going to be interview at the Ankara embassy. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Reza.

Hello Simon, I really appreciate your effort and patience to answer thus massive number of queries.
My question is about the reciprocity table about Syria, Passport section.
I have a Syrian Travel Document for Palestinians and it is mentioned there with other types of passport and under that it is mentioned the document type: Passport
Alternate documents: None
Does this mean that I have to select the document type as passport in the DS260?
I am a bit sceptical about selecting other travel document because once selected from the drop menu, the feilds to fill the document details will disappear, therefore, the details of the travel document such as name, issue date and expiry date cannot be typed in the form.
I would really appreciate if you can take a look at the reciprocity table of Syria and share your valuable thoughts.
June 19, 2022 at 14:39
It doesn’t mean that at all. Stop overthinking.
June 19, 2022 at 13:37

Hello dear Simon:
I am DV winner from Afghanistan my case number is 2022AS…. I sent complete ds-269 form on 11 June 2021 and received an email from KCC that they have received it. It has been more than 1 year passed that haven’t heard anything from their side. I am very worried about my case. Could you please guide me what to do?
June 20, 2022 at 18:43
There is not much time left. Many consulates are not scheduling enough cases – and of course your own consulate is closed so you should have asked to be moved by now.
June 19, 2022 at 19:23
Hi mr. Simon
Sir can you help me please???
I need health insurance coverage (dv lottery).
The immigration officer will request it .How can I get it
June 20, 2022 at 18:45
The CO will most likely NOT ask about healthcare insurance. However, if you want it, here is an article for you.

Dear Simon,
As usual your advice is so helpful. My case number is 2023AF11XXX. When I am filling the DS 260, there is a question as follows:
have you ever been unlawfully present, overstayed the amount of time granted by immigration officials or otherwise violated the terms of a U.S. visa? Y or NO , if yes I need to explain
I become asylum seeker in Canada by crossing the border of US and Canada, even though I enter to US by B1/B2 visa. So does that mean that I violated the terms of a U.S visa?
Thank you so much.
June 20, 2022 at 18:46
I suggest discussing with a lawyer.
June 20, 2022 at 07:19
Hi Mr Simon,
Hope you are well.
I’m DV 2022AF41XXX. If you are awarded a visa after the interview, can you pay the green card processing fee while in your country or you have to enter the US first?
Thanks.
June 20, 2022 at 18:47
Either way is fine.
June 20, 2022 at 08:46
Hello Mr.
I just wanted to ask about DV 2021. When can we expect a possible outcome of lawsuits,? Im Goodluck Plaintiff. with cn eu 71xx. I havent attended recent news about.
Thank you
June 20, 2022 at 18:48
There is an appeal going through – so it will be September/October before we know more.
June 20, 2022 at 09:24
My wife is the winner, can I do AOS in the states ?
June 20, 2022 at 18:48
DV cases can adjust status, yes.
June 20, 2022 at 12:44
Hi Simon
If I file I131 online, after we have to stay USA during waiting biomateric, interview or until approval ,
I131 interview location must be in USA or Canada ok
Pls explain to me, how to work I131 process

June 20, 2022 at 18:49
The applicant must apply in the USA and stay at least until the biometric is done.
June 20, 2022 at 14:47
Hello dear Simon, I am DV 2023 winner from Afghanistan. I have some questions related to DS-260 form.
First, there is a question about vaccination in accordance with US law. Should I answer it yes or no? Since we will have our medical check up prior to the interview, is it OK to answer it yes?
Second, my father is working in Iran by visa. He is sometimes in Iran and sometimes in Afghanistan. Right now, it has been about 8 months that he is in Iran. Should mention his address in Iran or Kabul?
I hope you answer to my questions.
Thanks
Shadab Hussain Haidari
June 20, 2022 at 18:50
1. Answer no.
2. Whatever is correct.
June 20, 2022 at 15:19
Hi Simon
I’ve changed my interview location on my ds-260 form. I’m completing my form for the first time, not unlocking.
Do I need to change my current address to ensure I get scheduled in that country I selected?
AF2023
Home embassy: ACC
June 20, 2022 at 18:51
They will schedule based on where you live.
June 20, 2022 at 15:27
Hi Brit I submitted my ds260 form a month ago how do I know if my form has been accepted
June 20, 2022 at 18:51
You wait.
June 20, 2022 at 19:02
Dear Brett Simon, I am not able to fill in the Ds260 when I write my information correctly, they write to me that the case number is not available at the moment. What is the solution to this problem? Thank you for your help
June 20, 2022 at 19:34
You probably have to remove the leading zeros.
June 20, 2022 at 19:54
Thank you, I have a question if I did not extract a birth certificate from the country where I was born and when I grew up I went to get a birth certificate, but the hospital was closed, that is that I did not get a birth certificate but I extracted a certificate proving the birth status by witnesses ? Is it enough and do I write a handwritten statement from the mother certified by the mayor?
June 21, 2022 at 00:01
You will need to follow procedures in your country.
June 20, 2022 at 22:06
Hii Brit, I have won the DV 2023 & my case number is AF43xxx.When I was filling my ds260 under current occupation, I put in a job(as a secretary) that I barely do at the moment. I have already submitted my ds260.
1. Should I request to unlock my ds260 & put in the job that I do frequently/mostly do which is a “self-employed Marketer”?
2. Does self-employment count as a job?
3. Do I need to show documents to prove my work experience at the interview? If yes, what documents are asked to prove work experience?
I hope to get your reply on this matter, Brit.
June 21, 2022 at 00:03
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Possibly if you are not able to meet the education requirement.
June 30, 2022 at 15:10
I meet the education requirement as I completed high school last year. I’m using the Education path for my DV process as that’s the easiest way. So with that said;
1. Do I still need to unlock my ds260 to change my current job as I have just recently switched jobs.
I would like more clarification on whether I really need to unlock my ds260 to list the job I have recently switched to.
July 9, 2022 at 22:39
No
June 21, 2022 at 09:50
Hi Simon,
Recently, I received my 2NL from the Auckland Embassy, in the Oceania Region. The interview date is set for late August. I recall in a recent video you mentioning that visas might run out in the region by then. Based on your experience, is this the earliest date ever possible to be interviewed, or are there avenues to obtain an earlier interview date if a gap opens up?
Regards,
Maurice
June 21, 2022 at 14:51
If you have an appointment a visa is reserved for you, so relax.
June 21, 2022 at 22:14
Ahh okay, so an appointment reserves a visa, good to know! Thanks for that.
June 21, 2022 at 10:04
Hi Mr Simon
I am a winner of dv 2023
In ds260 my business address I entered the actual address where the company operates, but the documented business address is different. Did I do the right thing by indicating the real business address? The legal and business addresses of my company in the documents are the same, the address of my office is indicated, but in fact the business address is different and I indicated the actual business address.
and I mentioned my business Instagram page where my real business address is visible
thanks for your work.
June 21, 2022 at 14:52
Overthinking.
June 22, 2022 at 09:05
Thanks for answer. Can I understand from your answer that I did the right thing and there is no need to think so much?
June 21, 2022 at 11:18
Hi Simon, I attempted to expedite my case at the embassy(One of the slow ones in Africa) as my son may age out. This is the reply i got. My question is, does the last line mean I should request expedite by writing to KCC? Do you think this can help my case? Thanks.
Thank you for your email.
***********************
We do not have your case at the consulate.
Please note that we are faced with a significant backlog and all our applicants are faced with severe delays. Visa processing was shut down completely from March-July 2020, and our current capacity for visa processing is severely reduced due to COVID-19 safety precautions. Visa interviews are taking longer to schedule. Applicants should expect severe delays in all stages of visa processing.
Please note that expedite process starts from NVC.
Thank you

Hello simon
1- I am a winner of dv22 asia , married and have a child. I’m sorry for repeating the question but Finally after a long wait I received my 2NL My interview will be in August .. When I filled out the ds260, I wrote on the DS 260 that my husband will come with me in the interview and immigrate, but ( He moved last year to work in another country ) , he will not be able to attend the interview with me and my son. Only me and my son will go . Will my husband’s failure to attend the interview ended up with me getting refused ?
2- Do I need to amend my husband’s DS information on the day of the interview, for example ( his new job, his travel to another country not listed on is DS260) even if he is not present with me at the day of interview and will not immigrate with us currently?

1. Probably not.
2. No need to amend it, no.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your continuous support and guidance, it’s really highly appreciated. I have received my 2nl and the interview is twords the end of August.
I have prepared my documents and all in order based in ur guidance.
My question is :
Many cases at the embassy were sent to AP , if our case sent to AP and the year is coming to an end by 30sep , what that mean ? I will appreciate your response.
Thanks

On Sep 30 the year ends, so those case in AP at that point will not be approved.

Hi Brit How long does ds260 take to revision and how do they inform me whether it is an email or a website.

The email when the unlock is done – which could take 2 or 3 weeks.

Please help me answer my concerns.
Will my visa be granted? I am a DV lottery selectee, when i applied in October i was single but dating and expecting twins. In March, my twins were born. I work and live in Dubai and my girlfriend lives in Kenya. My fiancée and I had been dating on and off before Covid(2020) and we had broken up.
At one point in 2018 she had told me she was pregnant, however we had trust issues and I told her the pregnancy wasn’t mine. When we reconciled in 2021 she had left the boy at her parents’ place and we moved in together, and I visited her occasionally. When the twins were born, she requested me to bring the older boy to stay with us and we did a DNA test and found that the boy was mine too. We both got excited and decided to get married, our wedding is due in July.
Now I feel it will be strange for me to show up at the visa interview instead of one person, we shall be five. When i applied i was single though dating, but now that the twins are here and the discovery of me having fathered the older boy too without my knowledge, i feel like it is alot for the visa officer. How can we go about this at the embassy? I would not want to move without my family, infact i am moving for the kids’ sake but the situation seems to have gotten complicated. Please help me out because I feel trapped.
Thanks

So you had a child that you did not declare in the entry. Sadly, that means you will be denied at interview. I would advise not to waste the money for the interviews, but the choice is yours.

Can my spouse go to the DV lottery interview without me ?
my wife is dv 22 main winner interview scheduled on august , can she go with my son alone to the interview ? noting that I’m listed to travel\immigrate with them in the DS-260 form.

Hii Brit, I have won the DV 2023 & my cn is AF43xxx. I have completed my high school last year which means I qualify to further proceed for the DV 2023. I have already filled my ds260. My questions are
1. Do the average(bad) grades I have scored in my high school affect the chances of not being given a visa?
2. Will the CO limit my case for scoring bad at my high school?
3. Is the DV process just based on completing high school no matter the grades you have scored? Do they just want me to have completed high school & that they don’t care about my grades?
I’m worried of such questions coming up at the interview and that’s why I would like to get some clarity on this matter. Kindly clarify this matter, please.

The education standard required varies by embassy. So – I cannot tell you whether your embassy will take the bad grades into account.

What can I do moving forward, Brit? I’m going to have my interview in Nairobi, but have completed my high school in Uganda. The reason I’m having my interview in Nairobi is because the Ugandan Embassy don’t have the capacity to hold immigration interviews. So Nairobi became my natural embassy location when filling the ds260 & I just went on with that embassy.
I have checked the specific Nairobi embassy requirements to have for the interview, but couldn’t find anything talking about deep Education requirements(meaning required grades).
I have also visited the Nairobi embassy official website(Immigrant Visas section), but I still couldn’t find their required Education grades for Ugandan students.
So I would like to kindly know what to do moving forward so that I can erase this worry/doubt in my head about whether my high school certificate can really enable me move forward in this process.
