Hi Simon
I won the DV lottery 2022. My husband will be following me to the USA but won’t be making entry with me as he can’t get leave at work. We have informed the consulate.
When applying for the follow-to-join do I have to have made entry in the states already?
July 25, 2022 at 14:36
As long as he has his visa, and you already entered, no problem.
July 24, 2022 at 13:24
Hi Brit, a DV2022 selectee here. I am wondering if the medical exam has to occur in the country where your interview is scheduled?
July 25, 2022 at 14:37
Yes.
July 24, 2022 at 17:26
Hello BritSimon. THANK YOU for providing the video for completing the new I-134 form, it is just what I needed to clear up questions I had about it. I am sponsoring my daughters fiance for a K-1 visa. One question remains – I am one of those unusual cases you mentioned at the end of the video. I am retired and my income is currently derived from private retirement accounts (not SS benefits). Do I still list my income (withdrawals, dividends etc) in Part 3 Q15 ? I intend to list these accounts as assets, and will provide statements showing the balances. Should I explain where the income comes from in the “additional information” page?
July 25, 2022 at 14:38
Yes, detail the income using the additional info space if needed.

Hi Brits thank you for good service and support and update again I need help in this category F2b visa if is possible for me
July 28, 2022 at 09:11
I only answer DV lottery questions.
July 24, 2022 at 20:16
Hi Brit,
Thank you for your support. Please help me with the following question.
1. I am a Graduate and I have only entered my Degree qualification in Education Section. Do I have to enter my School or Secondary level details in the education section?
July 25, 2022 at 14:39
You should ideally include all education since age 12.

Hi Brit I’m in USA with work permit visa right now I’m extending my visa,, since 10 month I’m waiting for my travel document, not received yet, so my Wife won dv2023 back to my country, my question is can my wife and kids go in the interview themselves back to my country? And can I apply from USA while I’m in the USA? What is your advice? Thank you
July 25, 2022 at 14:40
You can either travel to the country where she interviews, or go through a much longer process once she enters the USA.
July 25, 2022 at 12:13
1. As a pilot, I sometimes stay for up to 2 days in different countries around the world. The DS-260 form asks if I have traveled to other countries within the last 5 years! Now I have dutifully indicated these countries, could this become a problem?
2. My case number is 2023EU111XX, are there good chances for me to get an appointment in Frankfurt? and is there an approximate time frame when an appointment can be expected? At times I still have to work my way through your videos to understand everything. Submission date DS-260, 6/16/22
July 25, 2022 at 14:43
1. No
2. It’s a good number, but I can’t say exactly how things will progress. Patience.
July 25, 2022 at 13:32
Hi Brit
If sponsonsor is filling tax jointly with his spouse , can combined income in form 1040 be considered for sponsorship.
Is so what additional documents are required?
Thanks
July 25, 2022 at 14:44
Yes
Proof of both incomes – usually a joint 1040
July 25, 2022 at 16:13
Hi Brit greatly appreciate the wonderful work that you are doing by providing the required information. My husband is a DV2023 winner and the case no is 2023AS19xx.We have already submitted the DS260 and now he’s planning on changing the job. Do we have to unlock the DS260 and change the employment details? As per the historical pattern of interview scheduling it is possible that our interview will be scheduled in November
July 26, 2022 at 12:47
No need to change. You might get a November interview – wait and see.
July 25, 2022 at 17:42

Hi Brit,
Thank you for your kind support. I have a question.
1. I’m working in oman. In here there is no any home post mailing system in here. But I have selected interview location as Oman. Is it okay if I enter my Sri Lankan home address as my mailing address in DS-260 form?
Thank you.
July 26, 2022 at 12:53
They will schedule you in SL, based on your home address.
July 25, 2022 at 19:53
Hi Brit, I hope you are doing well. Thanks for all you’ve done.
I am DV2022, I received my 2NL and my interview is scheduled for September. Now, I have to confirm the appointment on the ais.usvisa-info.com website. My question is the following:
Should I create an account on the site and confirm for myself only or should I do this for myself and each member of my family?
Thanks
July 26, 2022 at 12:54
You only.
July 25, 2022 at 20:27
Hi Simon,
A kiwi DV lottery selectee here, 2023OC2xxx. I have submitted my DS-260 and am currently in the process of obtaining my supporting documents.
In trying to obtain a Police Certificate from my home country (New Zealand), I am confused as to what reference to put down on my application form for my Police Certificate.
The Department of State website states the following about the Police Certificate application form:
“When you complete the form, please indicate that the criminal record is being requested for the United States of America and reference the three-letter ten-digit case number (e.g. ACK followed by 10 numbers for Auckland) or A#. The postal address is U.S. Consulate General, Immigrant Visa Section, Private Bag 92022, Auckland, New Zealand.”
The form asks for a three-letter ten-digit case number to be put down for the reference. Am I correct in assuming that this number is my DV case number? Or is it a separate number altogether as my DV Case number does not fit the criteria outlined on the Department of State Website.
Thank you for your help,
Jack
July 26, 2022 at 15:45
Yes, most cases would be ACKXXXXXXXX, but you can list your DV case number.
July 25, 2022 at 20:49
Hello Sir,
I hope you are fine.
I had my interview and my case has been sent to AP and I went to Iran many years ago.
Some people are telling me going to Iran is problematic that can cause rejection.
Do you think it is true?
July 26, 2022 at 15:46
It certainly can increase the background checking, yes.
July 27, 2022 at 15:21
Thanks for the reply!
So does this mean I should not be hopeful to receive a visa?
July 29, 2022 at 11:56
I did not say that!
July 25, 2022 at 21:37
Hi Simon,
I entered the US 20 days ago and activated my DV visa, social security cards also arrived in the mail a week ago.
I tried to open a checking account at the bank, they couldn’t find my SSN in their system , so I had to present my SSN, Visa and passport as proof of ID, I also made a deposit and left.
Today I got a mail that they can’t verify my identity with Equifax.
What should I do, who is equifax and why my SSN didn’t work in the first place.
How can I be a legal resident with no identity here?
Thank you
July 28, 2022 at 08:42
This is normal. You are a “ghost” – meaning you have no financial profile. It will take some months before you have a credit profile – so you have to find ways to build a credit history with things like secured credit cards (ONLY if they report to the credit agencies). Now – stop having people doing credit checks. You need to be patient and other than deliberately *building* a credit history you have to be patient and understand you can’t borrow immediately. That is why you have to have your own cash when you come here. It’s a long and deep subject – search my videos for a bit more info.
July 26, 2022 at 08:23
NanaMK, i am a selectee of DV 2023 winner 2023af41**** with my husband and three children, during the entry in 2021 I was pregnant and now my family status have changed to four children. can I add my child to my case?,
secondly, my current financial status can’t support us, what is your advice?
Thanks
NanaMK
July 28, 2022 at 08:45
Yes you can add the baby – you add the child to your own DS260 and use the add applicant button to create a ds260 for the child.
For financial – get an I-134
July 26, 2022 at 11:50
I’d like to know if we file a mandamus lawsuit for DV and don’t get a visa, is there any chance an immigration officer can refuse or not renew my B1 or B2 visa because I was previously a plaintiff for DV?
July 28, 2022 at 08:50
Not because you were a plaintiff – but yes because you had made an application for immigration.
July 26, 2022 at 13:30
Hi Brett Simon Does the embassy approve the original registration of the lottery or the Ds260 form? If there is an error in the date of birth and in the month in particular and it was fixed in Ds260, does this cause a problem or not? Thank you dear
July 28, 2022 at 08:54
Any such mistakes must be fixed in the ds260. Normally this would not cause denial.
July 26, 2022 at 14:53
Hi Brett Simon
Lawyer Morrison says that if the applicant has an error in the date of birth in the original submission of the lottery, he is considered ineligible for the visa, is this correct or is it uncertain, knowing that I will fix the error in Ds260, which is an error in the month of birth only
Thank you dear
July 28, 2022 at 08:56
No he is not correct. Curtis is inexperienced in these matters. I have seen very few refusals for such mistakes, mainly where other factors are involved.
July 29, 2022 at 07:02
Hi Brits I think Curtis is right because in my country Kigali embassy main selectees are getting refusal for such mistakes like typing error in orginal entry. I have a proof.
July 29, 2022 at 12:15
I base my comments on 10 years of experience. Curtis does not have that experience, and neither do you. I already said – some refusals have happened, but that is not normally the case.
July 26, 2022 at 15:41
1.If there is any issue with my spouse’s medical will it effect to my (applicant) profile also??
2. And my case no 2023AS118XX.
is that possible to call the interview. Thanks
July 28, 2022 at 09:10
1. Not normally unless the spouse is the winner.
2. Probably. It’s too early to know for sure.
July 28, 2022 at 09:21
Thanks mr. Brit. Actually im the winner of the dv lottery. Not spouse.
July 26, 2022 at 17:48
Hello Brett Simon,
thanks for your continuous guidance.
I have been in Administrative Processing since May 9, 2022, since the interview. I am Somali born in Dubai, UAE, and have been living in the UAE since born. I am male, married with 3 kids, Muslim, and Travelled to the UK on several occasions to complete a Master of Engineering from the University of Manchester. My documents 100% clear and genuine. But I don’t know why over two months have been on Administrative Processing. my question is, would I miss the 2022 FY without a visa or Do you think I might be given a visa before the end of FY?
July 28, 2022 at 09:11
I have no way to predict the outcome of your case.
July 26, 2022 at 18:50
Again.. Need to ask a question from you mr. brit
As your history experience, according to my case number (2023AS118XX) when will the interview be?? Im sri lankan
July 28, 2022 at 09:12
I don’t have clear predictions.
July 26, 2022 at 19:25

July 29, 2022 at 10:08
Not a problem. No need to fix it.

July 26, 2022 at 22:07
Hello BritSimon,
My family and I recently passed the interview and everything went well. My wife’s and mine visas are issued, but the children’s medicals are not completed, so their current status is displayed as refused (as we were told, they will wait for medicals and then proceed with the process for kids’ visas). To complete medicals we need to do a vaccination, but according to the vaccination schedule, we will be able to do it only at the beginning of September. Could you please help to understand are their visa numbers will need to be re-allocated after the completion of medicals? Considering that currently, the number of visas in Issued + Ready statuses is almost 55k, is it a possible scenario that there would be no visa numbers to allocate?
July 29, 2022 at 10:15
Yes you are risking everything. Get the kids to the medical and the doctor can decide what vaccinations are appropriate/available.

July 27, 2022 at 05:32
Hi Brit
We had our interview end of June at Auckland Consulate all went weel no issue apart from our medicals were late arriving and not there so we’re refused and put into AP. They arrived 2 days later and a week and a half a ago our status went back into ready.
The Consulate asked us by email 2 weeks ago when we planned to travel to US if we are approved. Told them 11th August then nothing from them.
The consulate has had our passports for 3 weeks now plus now and I asked them by email on Monday how things are going and If they need anything more and only got a reply of “if we need anything we will be in touch” nothing about how our application is going.
Just wondering if I can push them along some how without angering them or we just have to wait and hope we will receive soon as we have given notice for work and where we are living so 11th August is when we definitely need to go.
July 29, 2022 at 11:48
Unfortunately, your visas were assigned to your case for June, and then when the case went into another month, the visas were returned to the pool to be used by other cases. Once the CO/you agree the case needs to have visas reallocated, the embassy has to ask for more visas. That represents two problems. First, that process takes time, and second there is no guarantee that visas will be available toward the end of the year. All you can do is wait, but yes, do email them and make sure they are aware of the desire.
July 27, 2022 at 06:06
Hi Brit . I am selected in dv2023. My question is that the photo I sent for dv2022 and dv2023 registration is the same. Is this a risk for my case?
July 27, 2022 at 13:48
but i am not sure about it, as it has been summited 3 years ago i just guess i have use same photo. by the way i would greatly appreciate if you make it clear for me
July 29, 2022 at 11:50
Yes that was against the rules. However, it is unlikely to cause disqualification.
July 27, 2022 at 06:12
Hi Brit Greatly appreciate the wonderful work that you are doing by providing accurate information about the process. My husband is a DV 2023 winner and the CN is 2023AS19xx
My husband is planning to change his job and the question we have is whether we will have to unlock DS 260 and update in case if his employment changes
Since our CN is not not very high will it be risky to unlock the DS260
July 29, 2022 at 11:50
No need to update that.
July 27, 2022 at 09:33
Good day Brit.
AF43***, I received the 2nl on Friday 22nd of July with the interview date on September second week. My Embassy is Cameroon. I tried the online registration on Monday the 25th of July and yesterday 26th of April. The reply I get is that my number is not yet ready for interview appointment. I see my case on the ceac status check as ” Ready”
Please what would you suggest I do
July 29, 2022 at 11:51
You dont need an appointment – you already have one. You are simply creating an account.
July 27, 2022 at 13:13
Regards, Britt
According to previous experiences, what is the expected duration of the procedure for reopening the problem of block Ds260
I have emailed the kcc machine since June and they have sent me that they will send the information I provided to the appropriate department
So far there is nothing new, what should I do????
July 29, 2022 at 11:54
Several weeks.
July 29, 2022 at 18:30
It’s been a month and 5 days since I texted them. Is this cause for concern or should I just wait?
July 27, 2022 at 14:11
hello Brit.I am the winner of dv2022.cn:89xx but I could not get an interview appointment yet. The number has been active in the January newsletter. How should I proceed. Can you help me if possible
July 29, 2022 at 11:54
All you can do is wait and hope to get an appointment.
July 27, 2022 at 14:55
Hi Sir, thanks for all the help. I have two questions:
1. I played the DV 2022 with my two kids and I filled and submitted the DS-260. I am single, not married So, I decided that both of them follow to join me later. During the time of my medical examination will I do medical examination for them too?
2. Will the affidavit of support includes me and my both kids even though they will join me later or the affidavit of support will be for me alone since I’m the only one travelling now.
July 29, 2022 at 11:55
1. No
2. List the children.
July 27, 2022 at 14:55
Hi Brit,
I am a DV2023 winner. I could not remember the exact start and end dates for my university and high school respectively so while filling my DS260, I estimated the local school calendar and entered 1st January (start) and 1st December (end) for both. Will it cause a problem at the interview? Do I need to unlock my DS260 to update dates?
July 29, 2022 at 11:56
Not normally a problem.
July 27, 2022 at 15:40
Hi Brit,
Thank you for your support.
I want to know, whether I am getting any home postal letters to my mailing address from KCC before the interview or after the interview.
Thank you.
July 29, 2022 at 11:57
No – only the passport package once approved.
July 27, 2022 at 17:31
Dear BritSimon,
One question regarding the B1/2 Visa and country’s visited:
The Visa became necessary due to forced stay in Iran during my duty’s for the airline. At that time I applied for the B1/2 Visa and drove to the embassy. At the embassy the visa officer requested a written confirmation from the airline that I was forced to travel to this country to fulfill my signed contract. I was forced to left the original with the visa officer.
Due to ESTA requirements I was forced to gone this way. Now with the DS-260 I also entered the B 1/2 visa details and I guess that KCC check this also.
I already got the B 1/2 visa and become a bit scared that my forced stay could now cause a fail to get the green card?
But I guess they know anyway a bit about me since I got the B 1/2 visa.
Thanks in advance for your help!
July 29, 2022 at 11:58
There is no clear question, but nothing you can do anyway. So – wait and see.
July 29, 2022 at 12:01
Sorry that I was not clear enough…even with a previous B1/2 visa issued because of traveling to Iran to execute my contract could kick me out of the green card project?
July 27, 2022 at 17:40
hi Simon
i am a DV 2023 winner Eritrean. in ma DV application i have selected a passport exemption option n_o 2 n now i have got some hope dat i can receive a passport from ma government. so, will therebe any problem if i state n fill ma passport info in ma DS260?
July 29, 2022 at 11:58
No
July 28, 2022 at 05:19
Hi Brit,
IN that ds-260 form where you have to provide the details of someone you know already resifding in USA so that laster even your documents will be mailed to their address. I dont have anyone I know in USA so i asked one of my office collegue who has his brother there and i just gave that address. IS it risky to do that. But i have no one there i know personally. What to do??
July 29, 2022 at 11:59
That’s OK
July 28, 2022 at 09:23
If the case remained in Administrative Processing after September 30, will the visa be issued if the AP completed after September 30th?
July 28, 2022 at 10:12
Hello Mr. Simon.
Please tell me, if the limit of DV2022 visa is already coming to an end, and I have not yet been invited for an interview, then joining Mandamus individual lawsuit does not make sense?
Individual lawsuit can be filed if you were sent for an administrative check, then there will probably be a result from the lawsuit, and for those who have not yet been scheduled for an interview, an individual lawsuit will not be of any use.
Thanks.
July 29, 2022 at 12:01
If there are no visas left a mandamus lawsuit cannot help. However, the calculations aren’t precise and we do not know how many visas will be left at the end.
July 29, 2022 at 16:20
Thank you for responding, but in general, is there any benefit from the Mandamus lawsuit if I haven’t been invited for an interview yet and will my visa be reserved if I join the Mandamus lawsuit because I didn’t have time to call before the end of the financial year?
July 30, 2022 at 08:44
I don’t think reservation is the goal of a mandamus lawsuit, but you can ask the lawyers that question. In reality I would be extremely surprised to see any reservation past Sept 30 because the government have done what they needed to do to issue as many visas as possible.
July 28, 2022 at 10:14
Hi Brit
Can we consider taxable pension in form 1040 when computing sponsors income
Thanks
July 29, 2022 at 12:02
Honestly I would steer clear of pension income in general.
July 28, 2022 at 11:03
hi,
This is the situation, I won the lottery 2023, me and my husband. We have one son who is 23 and he is in the US and in final stages of getting his green card through marriage. I will only fill out ds-260 for myself, and my husband does not want to leave his work atm, but will wait for my son to get his green card then he can apply for him. I will get on the expedited way of the 2023 lottery. my ask is:
– there Is a question in the DS260 is your husband traveling with you I said no, then will your husband migrate later on to join you ? shall I click yes or no? although he will migrate through my son not me.
Thank you in Advance
July 29, 2022 at 12:03
YOu can say no – but frankly it will take many years to bring your husband through the son’s case.
July 28, 2022 at 11:56
Hello brit

July 28, 2022 at 16:29
Hi Simon,
Hope you are doing well
I’m dv 2022 lottery winner , my case no is 2022AS178XX . Till now I haven’t receive any mail from KCC . There is very little time left and my embassy is in riyadh. Two months before 16,800 received 2nl and after that nothing.
Should i be worried? Do i need to email KCC? Or change embassy?
July 29, 2022 at 12:07
Many people will miss out. I don’t know if your case will be lucky or not.
July 28, 2022 at 17:04
Helllo Brit, I went for my DV interview 13/07/2022 in Johannesburg. After the interview I went as given a consent form for my ex husband to sign for our kids and gave me 221g letter pink sheet. The next day I receive email from the consulate that I must send them details of cv. I did sent the detail cv and letters from all the places I have worked because when I showed the consulate my high school certificate but I failed my high school so the consulate said to me because I failed my high school they will base on my employment history meanwhile I have manage to acquire professional certificates in Credit management and Diploma in office Administration. Yesterday I received email that my documents is ready for pick up. I went to DHL and picked the documents only to found out that the consulate didn’t bring my passports but a letter to say I am not eligible because of my education or employment. I have over 15yrs work experience in credit management and office admin. Their still having my passport so what must I do now. Must I still send my employment contract and my credit management and offfice admin certification original back to the consulate. Please advice.
July 29, 2022 at 12:09
Its a pity you had not prepared properly. Read the link below and see if you can make a case that you do meet the requirements or not. If you do, you might be able to get them to approve your case, if you act fast.

Thank you for everything Brit.
AS20220029XXX
Egyptian nationality, interview in Cairo, and place of birth in Saudi Arabia. Egyptian official records, such as the birth certificate and passport, indicate the place of birth, which is Saudi Arabia.
I could not obtain a birth certificate from Saudi Arabia, I do not know anyone there now, and the Kingdom’s embassy in Cairo did not help me.
Can I pass the interview at the American embassy successfully, knowing that I submit all the necessary documents, including the high school certificate, which is also from Saudi Arabia, or do I expect rejection or an administrative procedure?
July 29, 2022 at 12:10
I don’t know what the outcome will be.
July 28, 2022 at 19:25
Hello Brit
We have 2022EU10xxx case number. We did the interview at february 2022. Since then our case is in administrative processing. Our medical report is expired.
A few days ago, we received an email from the embassy.
“Our case is reviewed. The CO may give the visa. But your medical report is expired. Come to embassy after renewing the medical report”
This will takes a few more weeks.
In this situation, are we now like the high case numbers in a risky situation becasue the total issued dv visas are reaching the limit. Or since we already did the interview, shouldnt we worry about that risk?

Hey Simon
When you fail to attend your interview before September 30 because of the pandemic, can you apply again in October and win a second time?
Cheers

OK, so no need to create a DS260 for them, just make sure to list them on your form.

Leave incomplete.

Hello dear Simon,
I submitted my DS-260 in 23 Jun 2022, but I have not received any email from KCC that whether they received my DS-260 or not. Is it usual? Or I have to wait? I also have not received an email from KCC to submit my documents?
Thank you
Shadab
