What is the appeal of 16 September 22 in DV2020, is it from KCC ?
Why KCC always rejecting to start the DV2020 interview, even if they agree to give 9000 visas DV2020
This fiscal year can they completed the issuing DV 2020 visas ?
We are really disappointing this situation.
thx
October 2, 2022 at 15:03
The government appealed the earlier decision. So we have to wait more months to find out the appeal outcome.

You could unlock if you want, although the mistake is minor.
I doubt you would be interviewed by January, but wait and see.

Dear Simon,
could you help us how much money we need on our bank account if we win the greencard lottery?
Thank you so much!
October 5, 2022 at 14:19
During the interview the CO may ask about finances and they generally expect to see around $10,000 per person within the family.
However, you can also show an I-134.

Hello dear Simon,
thank you for your golden advise.
I’m a dv winner case No: 2023AF00020*** Riyadh for Interview
when I was filing the ds260 I choosed that my family will follow me later due to my finacial status and then I submited, so I left they ds260 uncompleted.
Is that a problem?
what is your advise and prediction about interview date?
October 5, 2022 at 14:20
It will take a LONG time to reunite with the family later – a matter of years.
I don’t really do predictions, but clearly your number will be current early in 2023.
October 5, 2022 at 19:34
Hello dear Simon,
I am from Morocco. My Case number is 2023AF00050k I completed ds-260 on 18th of August 2023. Is that gonna affect my chances of securing the interview.
Best regards
October 6, 2022 at 18:19
No. Your number means you will be waiting for a long time anyway, and during that time your DS will certainly be processed.
October 2, 2022 at 23:16
Hi Brit, I just got to know about your blog and it has being nothing but amazing. God bless you. I want to find out. I am dv23 winner, I’m yet to submit because;
1. I’m just realising there’s something called unlocking even after submission. All this while I haven’t submitted because I was waiting to conceive first.
Again, I will be submitting since I can unlock later on but my worry is, though after conceiving I will indicate I have a child, yet I wouldn’t be travelling with the child, so my question is, do I still have to create a ds260 form for my child? Or indicating that I have a child is enough since we wouldn’t go together. I would be grateful to hear from you soon. Thank you
October 5, 2022 at 14:21
No need to wait to conceive, you should complete the DS260 now, and then once you have a baby you will be able to add that child to the case.
October 3, 2022 at 00:35
Hi Brit how are you?
Our case number is EU 29** and we submit ds260 in June, steel waiting for an interview, recently we have a new baby, so my wife is main applicant, we are planning to unlock our Ds260 to add new baby,
My question is we both has to unlock and add new baby or only my wife needs to add a new born baby?
Also some friends are telling us to wait for interview and then add a Baby in the embassy?
Please give us an advice
Thanks Brit
October 5, 2022 at 14:23
Both should unlock, and you should also use the add applicant button to create a DS260 for the baby.
Find smarter friends.

Hello Simon,
I want to apply for the DV lottery 2024 but I am not sure what level of education to select, I am in my last year of university (undergrad), so should I select -University Degree (as I graduate in June) or High School Degree?? or Some university courses?
Thank you!
October 5, 2022 at 14:23
Some university.
October 3, 2022 at 09:02
Hello Simon, how long it takes to receive the actual green card after payment fee is make?
October 5, 2022 at 14:24
The GC will arrive 2 to 4 months after you have paid the fee AND entered the USA.
October 3, 2022 at 14:59
Thanks Mr britsimon for your support,
Does success in the American lottery automatically mean that the photo was accepted, or could it be a reason for rejection on the day of the interview?
October 5, 2022 at 14:28
The photo could be of the wrong person, so yes – photos can, rarely, cause rejection.
October 3, 2022 at 15:37
Hi,
Please i wish to know if my DV entering can be rejected because my ears were not visible on my photo.
Thank you and Best Regards

October 5, 2022 at 02:50
hi simon,
1-I just filled my ds260 im the main applicant. what does it usually mean if I chose that my husband and children will follow me later to us, how long they can wait until they join me?
2- I want to apply for dv2024 for my siblings. They were all borne in Saudi Arabia, and they but their nationality and thier passport are Sudanese as Sudan is where my parents were born. So should I choose Saudi Arabia as a country of eligibility? Will cause a problem if choose Sudan?
thank you
October 5, 2022 at 14:33
1. It can take several years.
2. Country of birth. Always.
October 5, 2022 at 18:49
Thank you for your answer. I just want to understand what if I choose Yes they are coming with me to US., Can they follow me a little late like 6 months or they must enter with me at the same time?
I just need to come before them to arrange everything. that is why im confused about what should I choose as an answer for this question
October 6, 2022 at 18:19
If you process DV with them, you would all receive visas with a validity of about 6 months, so you could enter before them, and they could join you within that validity period. They can also enter the USA, then immediately leave, returning some months later. Processing through DV avoids a long complex and expensive process to bring them later.

Good day Dear Simon,
Firstly, thank you for your valuable advice, and I’m a dv winner case No#(2023AF00095**) an Egyptian living in Kuwait, and still waiting for interview, so please advise regarding the following: –
1- The original documents required (Birth Certificate, Police report, etc..) should be Authenticated from the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs and Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait, or only Originals issued by Egyptian authorities is enough.
2- Do they ask for Bank statement during the interview or do we have to show certain amount in the bank.
3- what is the expected date of interview since I filled the DS-260 in June?
appreciate your continuous support and guidance.
October 5, 2022 at 14:35
1. You have to read the country specific instructions.
2. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
3. Maybe December/January.
October 27, 2022 at 06:31

No you do not have to unlock for that.
October 5, 2022 at 07:42
Hi Brit I’m dv2023 winner and my case number is first thousand already I filled ds260 may of this year still I ain’t get a 2NL.
October 5, 2022 at 13:02
Hello Simon,
I am entering the DV lottery and need to know a couple of things please as I watch your videos and I was slightly unsure in my situation.
So I was born in UAE which makes me eligible.
1) I am divorced and have two children but one child is a US citizen under 21. Do I include only one child in the DV lottery where it asks how many children you have as I shouldn’t include my son? I don’t think I do?
2) Divorced but I now have been with my new partner who is from the U.K. for 5 years and we had a wedding in Cyprus but did not register it in U.K. and was only registered with a unrecognised registrar. We went to get registered in U.K. but covid happened and then just haven’t bothered with it since. We are planning to get registered next year. Do I include my common law partner as spouse?
Thank you so much,
Christina
October 5, 2022 at 14:38
1. You do not have to include the citizen, so you deduct one from the number.
2. No. Only legally married spouses.
October 5, 2022 at 15:12
Thank you so much. Last question so sorry. Do I put divorced because of my previous marriage and I am legally divorced?
October 5, 2022 at 15:19
So sorry. What I meant was do I put unmarried or divorced as I am legally divorced but planning to marry my partner in February 2023? Thank you so much. You have no idea how much you have helped me.
October 6, 2022 at 18:12
You always enter details as of today, not what you plan for the future.
October 6, 2022 at 18:11
Yes
October 5, 2022 at 14:38
Hello Simon
I am curious about this.
Are the 2NLs sent on a monthly basis as and when your CN becomes current or after your case has been processed?
Also, i send in my DS260 in May (AF22k CN), i know i won’t get an interview (hopefully) until next year but my form status on CEAC shows “at KCC”. What does this mean? it has not been processed yet?
October 5, 2022 at 14:45
2NLs are sent to cases that are processed and current. They send them in the second half of each month.
Doesn’t mean that. It just means your case hasn’t gone to the embassy yet – which won’t change until you get the 2NL.
October 5, 2022 at 16:41
good evening Brit please I have a question I am in Cameroon 1-on my secondary diploma it is written June 2019 in the ds I put May 2019 do I have to unlock my ds for that? 2- I have a cn2023AF19*** can I pass in January 2023? It’s possible ?
October 6, 2022 at 18:14

2. Maybe, but more likely to be later.
October 5, 2022 at 15:43
Hi Mr Brit, got the link from YouTube.
My brother’s National ID/passport indicates single and he got got married a month ago, what status will he use while filling for DV2024?
October 6, 2022 at 18:12
Married.
October 5, 2022 at 17:07
Hi Brit,
So i’ve got a question –
I know in your recent video about mistakes made with a DV2024 entry you spoke about not using your parents country as a chargeability country which is what I did and won…
I was born in the UK but used my parents chargeability as Ghana. However I am also a Ghanaian citizen and used my Ghana passport details for my DV2023 entry. I used Ghana because at the time of my birth, my parents were only Ghanaian citizens and were both born in Ghana despite me being born in London. At birth I was Ghanaian because of my parents and only became British years after birth. So my parents and I are all dual nationalities as we are both British and Ghanaian citizens.
I thought this was okay because the DV instructions stated below
“Are you a native of a country that does not have historically low rates of
immigration to the United States, but in which neither of your parents was born or
legally resident at the time of your birth? If yes, you may claim the country of birth
of one of your parents if it is a country whose natives are eligible for the DV-2023
program. For more details on what this means, see the ….”
Do you think this is an okay circumstance? and how do you think I should proceed?
October 6, 2022 at 18:16
You would have to establish that your parents were only in the UK because of some temporary situation. In the case where they had emigrated to the UK and planned to be there “forever” then you would not be eligible. The CO will make a decision based on the evidence you present to establish the temporary nature of the situation.
October 5, 2022 at 19:42
Dear BritSimon,
Regarding Dv24 inscription is a 602*602 photo is accepted
October 6, 2022 at 18:21
602 is not 600.
October 5, 2022 at 19:47
HI. I just applied for DV-2024, and I see it was successful in the end. Then I get the confirmation number and print all information. But I didn’t close the webpage yet. Then I click the backspace on the internet browser because I want to enter for my other friend’s information for DV-2024. But after I click backspace the website shows me that:
‘The information submitted has not been accepted because it matches a previous entry in our records. Individuals may only submit one entry per DV period. Duplicate entries will not be accepted.’
I didn’t submit any information again or add new information, I just keep click ‘back’ on the internet browser after I submit my DV-2024. But then I get this message from the website. Did I be disqualified for Dv-2024
October 6, 2022 at 18:21
No, the system warned about (and stopped) a duplicate entry.
October 5, 2022 at 20:09
Hello, Mr Simons
I’m DV2022. I just discovered that my girlfriend with whom I went out between 2017-2018 had a child of me after our separation, I did a DNA test before I left for the USA that proves that he is my son. And what advice or assistance can you give me to bring him to my nearest to the USA?
October 6, 2022 at 18:24
This strains credibility that you just found out about the child. It is more likely that you knew about the child but did not mention the child in the process and that, if correct, would have caused your disqualification. It also seems unlikely that the mother would be cool with you (pretty much a stranger for the past 5 years) just taking the baby to America.
October 5, 2022 at 20:14
Hi Simon I am dv winner 2023af9** I m Kinshasa I didn’t receive my 2nl letter I m ready send my d260 on on May, and send email to KCC the reply to me everything is ready in ambassy in kin .what can I do?

October 5, 2022 at 23:27
Hi Simon
I have a question about DV2024, my wife was selected for DV 2023, but until now we didn’t recieve 2NL for her application. Can I submit DV2024 application for me and her or this will disqualify us from DV2023?
Thanks
Kay
October 6, 2022 at 18:25
You can enter DV2024 with no problem.
October 6, 2022 at 00:56
Hi Simon, what if I am living with someone, we have children together but there is no legal marriage and we get legally married after the selection, what are the chances of getting the Green card?
Rebecca
October 6, 2022 at 18:25
Pretty good. The fact that you have children is evidence that there is a real relationship.
October 6, 2022 at 01:26
Hi Brit,
I am pakistani and I live here in usa since 2006.i want to know how can we apply for lottery.i really appreciate you if you help me out .
October 6, 2022 at 18:26

October 6, 2022 at 01:56
Hello simon. I’m a dv2023 winner. Is it ok if we apply to dv2024 too? Will it be causing any problems on our dv2023 process?. Thank you
October 6, 2022 at 18:27
No problem.
October 6, 2022 at 04:57

October 6, 2022 at 10:55
Hi Simon,
I am a 2023 DV lottery winner. Case number AS24XXX.
my problem is regarding to the sponser.
The person who wishes to sponsor me is working in the United States under the “L1B” visa category. Therefore, he does not have permanent residence or citizenship in America.
However he is legally employed and paying taxes.
Can such a person sponsor me?..
please advice
thank you
October 6, 2022 at 18:28
Better to have a citizen or permanent resident.
October 6, 2022 at 11:26
Hi, I have a question about the lottery 2024 as I am getting an error when trying to apply.
“your request URL was rejected. Please consult with your administrator. Your Support ID is : ********** ”
Whom should I contact to solve this issue?
October 6, 2022 at 18:28
Wait a couple of days and try again. The system is too busy.
October 6, 2022 at 17:11
Hi Brit. I am a currently F1 student in the US. My country of birth is is different than my country of nationality because I was born in the X country when my parents were studying. I returned to the country Y with my parents when they finished their studies. I want to apply for DV this year. But have questions. I can enter country X as my birth country. But there are 2 other different questions.
1. Item 6- country of eligibility- and at the same time it says ” Your country of eligibility is NOT related to where you live”. So do I list here country Y? (Both X and Y are in the same region)
2. Item 8 – asks mailing address. I am only an F1 here. So do I have to list my country Y’s permanent address where my parents and relatives live? (I do not have any contacts in country X since return).
I heard you helped a lot of people and a friend directed me to ask Brit. Please help. Great day.
October 6, 2022 at 18:32
1. Most people should not choose anything for question 6 – the place of birth is country of eligibility. So q5 is country of birth. That’s all.
2. Wherever you live.
October 8, 2022 at 16:06
Great Brit. Thank you. In that case how the interview location determined? If it is my country of birth, I have never been to that country for ages after returned with my parents. In case of an interview or so, I will even need a visa!
October 9, 2022 at 21:36
You can process in the USA, or in the country of last residence.
October 6, 2022 at 22:31
Greetings Sir. I arrived in the US this gone Monday. I paid for my green card online before entry in the United States. Can I apply for the Social Security without the physical greencard? Which documents will I need before applying for the Social security?
October 7, 2022 at 03:17
You may have already selected the option to have the SSN sent to you automatically (in your DS260). If not, check out the ssa.gov website.
October 7, 2022 at 05:07
hello Brit,
my education level is high school diploma, in my country high school is 3 years and we take the diploma after the third year exam. I studied the 1st and 2nd year in one school and the 3rd year in another school were I got the diploma from.
do I need to put the name and address of both schools in my ds260 or just the one I got the certificate from?
thank you
October 9, 2022 at 20:16
Both
October 7, 2022 at 05:08
Hi Brit I’m dv2023 winner and my case number is first thousand already I filled ds260 may of this year and still I ain’t get a 2NL.
October 9, 2022 at 20:17
OK. That isn’t unusual. Just be patient.
October 7, 2022 at 05:39
Hi Brit,
I was a DV lottery winner 2020, do i have a chance still ?
October 9, 2022 at 20:17
We still have to wait for the outcome of the appeal.
October 7, 2022 at 08:57
Hi Simon
I was single during the entry but I got married afterwards. I don’t have marriage certificate because it was customary. We are having marital issues and we have been separated recently. I don’t intend going for the interview with him. But because I don’t have certificates (marriage/separated/divorce) for any of this,
1. what will my marital status be?
2. He has threatened to destroy my case because he has access to my case number and confirmation number. Can I write to kCC to change this numbers for me?
October 9, 2022 at 20:22
I have to assume you are a DV2023 case because you are not clear.
1. I cannot guess what the laws are regarding marriage in your country, or even what country you are in.
2. You can inform them of the problem – but they cannot change the numbers such as case number of confirmation number. One thing they can do is lock down your DS260, but you must have the data correct first.
October 9, 2022 at 20:33
Yes please. DV 2023 selectee from Ghana
October 24, 2022 at 21:35
Please if I lock it down after submitting mine and leave his not submitted, can he still open the portal and resubmit his form? Since he has my logins
October 26, 2022 at 02:38
If you don’t ask KCC to lock it down, yes.
November 3, 2022 at 12:59
Hi Simon,
I asked kCC to lock down it and I haven’t received any response from them yet. So I decided to open the portal and see what is going on. When I login my case number, this is what popped up. “Your case has been temporarily locked due to too many
unsuccessful login attempts. Please try again later.” Meanwhile, it was my first time attempting for the day.
Please Simon, does this mean they have acted on the message I sent them? Or maybe a third party tried to open it and resulted to this?
November 11, 2022 at 20:12
I don’t know.
October 7, 2022 at 10:28
Please can someone with down syndrome denied a Visa
October 9, 2022 at 20:28
Is that person a winner? Then they would at least need to meet the education or work experience requirement. AS a derivative that is not a concern.
October 7, 2022 at 11:12
Hi Brit
Just wanted to ask- if you entered via your parents birth place because your place of birth was ineligible. What kind of documents do you suggest using at the interview stage to prove your parents were not legal residents at the time of your birth??
Do you think indefinite leave to remain documents dated after your birth are a good idea ?
I was born in the U.K. and my parents are Ghanaian but came to the UK. My dad was on a student visa when he first arrived
October 9, 2022 at 20:53
You will have to use your best judgement as to what evidence you can provide. I can’t guess what you may have.
October 7, 2022 at 14:13
Hello Burt, I’m wondering to know why the interview for DV2023 going so slow is there any issues!? As I know u till December it reaches 3300 in Asia !
October 9, 2022 at 21:24
Don’t judge a year by the first 3 months.

Dear Mr. BritSimon,My wife won the DV2023 and when you were filling the DS260 Form she filled her Social Medial details under our 2kids since they don’t have any social media platform. Is there a problem or we need to unlock and Keep it blank?
Kindly advice Please
October 9, 2022 at 21:26
I would correct that, personally.
October 7, 2022 at 17:40
Hello Simon,
My number 2023EU57XX, I became current today, and after KCC on August 9th about the status of my case, they replied to me that it has been processed.
Therefore, I’m assuming that I should get my 2NL this month.
I had a simple question:
1- On that FAQ part of your site, I sometimes read people that are current for several months, and whose case have been processed but who haven’t received their 2NLs yet. I was a bit curious about the whole thing, and was wondering what could cause the 2NL not beiing sent despite the fact that the case is processed, and that its CN is current?
2- In that case, what happens after your case is current for more than a month but haven’t receive the 2NL in the month it was supposed to?
Thanks in advance.
October 9, 2022 at 21:28
1. That would typically only happen if the embassy is not working.
2. Relax – no need to worry about something that hasn’t happened.
October 10, 2022 at 05:35
Thank you for your quick reply Simon!
Do you have information regarding the Paris embassy please? Is its capacity good?
Thanks

Hey Brit, thank you for all the knowledge you share. I have a question about my marital status.
In my country i am listed as divorced, however, me and my current spouse got married (in Las Vegas) while we were visiting in US, when we got back to out country we didn’t registered in the local govern, since then we have a child together which is now 4yo. Any ideas what should I list in the marital status on the registry form? Thanks in advanced.

Hello, may I please ask you if I have applied for the DV lottery and have uploaded a photo of myself and my spouse, and my spouse applies as well afterwards, can we use the same photos from the first application (for the same year) or should they be different? Thank you very much in advance and stay healthy! 🙂

Hi BritSimon,
I am facing a problem login to check status page: https://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/CheckStatus.aspx
I for sure logged in many many times successfully before using confirmation code/family name/birth year. However I constantly get error in the captcha code. it always says: ” Please enter the code as you see or hear it. ” although I entered the authentication code correctly.
I thought that this is due to system problem due to opening lottery 2024. but I started to worry now, especially after two days and trying different browsers and even on mobile.
Please advise if there is a problem in the system or I am the only case. I am a selectee of 2023.
Regards,

Btw, I can login to my ds260 easily using confirmation code and case number. So I wonder why same numbers are giving me captcha error on checking the status ????

Hello Brits, I’m wondering to know why this year the interview process is so slow !? Is there any chance to get 12k Case number in Asia? Because until end of December they just invited Case number 3300 !? May I apply again for lottery 2024 !? But I’ve been selected as a first step for 2023 but my case number is far .
Appreciated your kind feedback

It is too early to know what the ending case numbers will be. The slow start isn’t surprising.

Hello, Brit!
So my case number is 2023AF6k and I just became current for December!
1. I would like to ask does this mean I will be getting my 2NL at the end of this month (October), or at the end of December?
2. What are the next steps and things I should be expecting after receiving the 2NL?
Thanks for your time.

1. If your DS260 has been processed and your embassy is open you might get a 2NL in October for a December interview.
2. You book your medical, get documents ready. Please read the instructions.
