October 9, 2022 at 03:24
Hi Brit. 2023af34k. Received a mail from Kcc which says ” Thank you for your inquiry. Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at https://travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check dvprogram.state.gov”. What does it mean?
October 9, 2022 at 21:38
Your DS260 is processed. You now wait until your number is current, which will be months from now.
October 10, 2022 at 01:10
Thanks much for the response. Am grateful.
October 9, 2022 at 07:04
Hey Simon,
I’d like some clarity on this please. If you’re an undocumented immigrant in the US, can you still apply for the DV lottery and succeed?
Thank you in advance.
October 9, 2022 at 21:38
Well yes, but you would need to leave the USA to process and if you have been banned, that will mess you up.
October 9, 2022 at 08:22
Hi Simon,
My Case number in 2023 DV from Asia is 5XXX and still to get current,to the Oct visa bulletin.
For an official purpose I need to get my US business visa(B1/B2) renewed and is it ok to apply for US business visa, whilst I am waiting for Interview notification, will it make an impact on DV lottery, Kindly advise
October 9, 2022 at 21:39
No problem.
October 11, 2022 at 19:40
Hi Simon, please help. I submitted my DS260 for DV2023 months ago. Last week, I received an email telling me to log into the entry status website for further processing (I assume this will have info about an interview). The problem is no matter what I do, I can’t log into the site. I enter all my details correctly, but when I click submit, the page stays the same. I’ve emailed KCC and they have been no help. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Could it be a glitch with the website? Thanks.
October 22, 2022 at 16:03
It is fixed now.
October 16, 2022 at 08:08
Hello simon sir
I want to apply for DV 2024
I have a thechnical and vocational diploma from institute of thechnical and vocational education in the field of automobile and car repairing which is same as 12th grade graduate here in Afghanistan and its studied when you reach 9th class in school then you leave school and continue 3 remaining years in vocational institute.
Please tell me, does this diploma qualify my education requirement in DV?
October 23, 2022 at 15:05

October 18, 2022 at 12:30
My name is Jacob and am I dv 2023 winner.when I applied I was not working by done.am now working now.so wat should I do now..
October 23, 2022 at 15:40

October 9, 2022 at 12:07
Hello Brit, how are you?
I have a question, if someone did “Certificate in Information Technology” in a recognized University in their country, what should they fill in at the “highest educational level achieved?
Thank you in advance.
October 9, 2022 at 21:41
The certificate is not relevant. So – they list the actual education highest level completed.
October 21, 2022 at 09:39
Hello BritSimon, thanks for the feedback. Remember, they attended classes for this Certificate to be awarded, they even graduated and was awarded. Can’t this fall under “Some University Course?”
October 23, 2022 at 20:24
Yes. It really makes little difference.
October 9, 2022 at 12:54
Hello dear Simon
I’m a dv winner case No. 2023AF11K. My wife is in another country (Europe) following an asylum and she is in an appeal. When I filling the ds260 form I choose her interview location to be at Europe and due to that she will be joining me latter. But I see from your blog that joining latter may take years for reunion. My question is does it have any problem if I unlock the form and change my selection to immigrate with me ? And her appeal case have any effect the dv application process?
October 9, 2022 at 21:41
Her appeal in another country has nothing to do with the USA process.
October 10, 2022 at 02:32
What about if I unlock the form and change my selection from immigrate latter to immigrate with me ? Does it have any effect on my case?
October 22, 2022 at 15:33
No
October 10, 2022 at 08:28
Thank you for your quick reply Simon!
I have one concern my case No is 11k and When I filling the ds260 form I choose her interview location to be at Europe and due to that she will be joining me latter.
But I see from your blog that joining latter may take years for reunion.
My question is does it have any problem since my case no is approaching if I unlock the form and change my selection to she is Immigrate to The US with me.
October 22, 2022 at 15:38
Do that.
October 9, 2022 at 14:51
My case number is AF 18k. and i have a few question
1. My wife is caring a baby and may deliver in January, so what if my case number is current by then. what will be the best thing to do? Do you have to unlock or do that at the embassy?
2. My passport will expire in 7 months time and I have to ask what is the minimum validity date to expire do the embassy accept? In any case have have statered the process to acquire a new one.
3. Passport application in my country can take more than 3 month, so incase the new one is not available before i receive my 2NL, do I need to go with the old one which may have few month like 2 month to expire and explain that am getting a new one ready?
Thank you.
October 9, 2022 at 21:43
1. You add the baby as soon as possible. If scheduled already (quite likely), you then have to communicate with the embassy. It’s covered in the FAQ.
2. Use the new one then.
3. Present old and new at the interview.
October 9, 2022 at 16:21
Hi brit I’m 29 years old
1. I finished my high school and I have grade 12 certification only
Which one I should choose
High school (no degree) or high school with degree?
2. And is it enough to be qualified to win the lottery or I should have a work experience?
Thank you
October 9, 2022 at 21:44
1. High school (no degree)
2. Varies by country
October 11, 2022 at 13:04
Hello. Please tell me if the husband has a child from a former marriage, although he pays alimony, but there is no contact with the child, therefore, only the child’s data can be indicated in the application for a green card, but there is no way to add a photo, there is no contact at all, in your opinion, what is the best way to proceed in this situation? Is it possible to indicate in the column the number of children, first name, last name, and instead of a photo we want to attach an empty 600 × 600 with the inscription “I am not able to attach a photo.” How do you think it will be accepted? And if you suddenly get lucky enough to win, then explain everything during the interview. Thank you in advance for your response!
October 22, 2022 at 15:58
You cannot enter without listing all the children (including your step children) and you cannot enter without a photo of each child.
October 9, 2022 at 17:26
Hello Simon Sir,
I was born in India and I am currently living in the same country. I am an Indian Citizen and having Indian Passport. But my parents were born in Nepal. My Father had been in India for a long period of time. But he never took Indian Citizenship. My both parents have demised. I have applied for DV 2024 based on chargeability of parents country of birth (Nepal). I am also having Nepalsese Citizenship and birth certificate from Nepal. However, I have provided my actual country of birth (India) in DV application.
Please guide if there is anything wrong in my case. Moreover, request you to give some idea about the supporting documents to be produced in my case (especially the documents related to my parents).
Thank you!
October 9, 2022 at 21:45
First, it’s just a lottery with a small chance of winning – not a plan. So it doesn’t make sense to plan so seriously unless you get selected.
Second, unless you can prove your parents were only temporarily in India, then you would not be eligible.
October 9, 2022 at 21:36
Hi Simon
We had our dv interview cancelled by the embassy the day before. Do you know how long it usually takes for them to reschedule the interview or is it embassy dependant?
Thank you
October 9, 2022 at 21:46
Embassy dependent.
October 9, 2022 at 21:59
Hi Brit
I’m dv 2023 winner and I added my husband and submitted two ds260. But we got separated just last month. I’ve unlocked the forms though but please how do I take him out or delete his form?
October 22, 2022 at 15:33
You cannot delete his form. Just leave it unsubmitted.
October 10, 2022 at 02:26
Hello Brit,
I had my activation flight mid of may. I want to move in december. Can this cause problems because its more then a half year after activation?,or one have one year time?

October 22, 2022 at 15:33
No problem.
October 10, 2022 at 02:40
Hi Brit,
My friend entered Europe illegally and currently lives over there. Now, the person wants to play the DV lottery 2024. How do we answer the question about where you live today?
October 22, 2022 at 15:34
The truth
October 10, 2022 at 04:53
Hi Simon
Kindly tell me after arriving, if the person is allowed to work if he has a job offer but the green card is yet to arrive. We are in that situation, and we are not sure if one can start work and the green card has not yet arrived, also can we take the kids to school even when their green cards have not arrived?
October 22, 2022 at 15:35
Yes to both.
October 10, 2022 at 04:59
Hi Simon
my wife is in the US seeking asylum, I won the 2022 but got an interview very late in fact was approved on the deadline days, now that it’s closed when I arrive in the US what do I need to do for her since her asylum case is still pending for an interview.
October 22, 2022 at 15:35
You could speak to a lawyer about that.
October 10, 2022 at 07:46
Hi Simon. won the green card in the lottery, they lost it in the mail so never got it, repeated the biometric process to get a new one which is in the working. If I would like to apply (just in case) to DV2024 do you think will that create trouble?
October 22, 2022 at 15:36
It’s pointless, but no problem.
October 10, 2022 at 08:15
Hi Brit
I sent my DS-260 in may. I got current a few days ago, my case number is 2023AF6xxx. However I have a question concerning the KCC, I still haven’t received anything from them, is it possible to send them an email to ask if my case was processed or is it badly viewed ?
October 22, 2022 at 15:36
No problem.
October 10, 2022 at 08:31
hi simon, i would like to know if my wife’s children fit into my application to dv 2024
October 22, 2022 at 15:38
Yes – they are your step children through marriage, so must be included.
October 10, 2022 at 08:34
Hi Brits am dv2023 winner and am going to apply dv2024 will this affect my Case
October 22, 2022 at 15:38
No problem.
October 10, 2022 at 09:03
Hello Brits,
I am a DV 2023 selectee from the EU and already scheduled for interview. My concern is that I am yet to get a Police Clearance from my home country due to delays in Postal service. I have successfully collected every other PCC from every other countries I have previously lived. What do you think my chance are in this situation for approval?
October 22, 2022 at 15:39
You need the police cert, so you will probably be on AP until you provide the police cert.
October 10, 2022 at 10:10
Hello reliable Simon
Please can I go in for the DV program 2024 . I don’t have a high school diploma. But i have been in the military of my country for some time now. Please tell me if i can . Thanks
October 22, 2022 at 15:39
Yes
October 10, 2022 at 10:46
Hi Simon!
I have passed my usmle step 1 and 2 liscence exam and won dv lottery as well. Have to apply for step 3. Exam. Any idea ? How do I get my 2nl fast
October 22, 2022 at 15:40
You only get your 2NL when your DS260 is processed AND your case is current.
October 10, 2022 at 14:55
Hi Brit, I am trying to enter DV2024. When I enter my info and want to go to the next page I get this error: “The requested URL was rejected. Please consult with your administrator.
Your support ID is: 8237186621875950065”
I have used different computer and different browser and it is the same deal. Can you please help?
Thanks!
October 22, 2022 at 15:41
It is probably a problem with the photo (size or filesize), or it is a corrupt cookie. Check the photo and Clear the cache.
October 10, 2022 at 18:18
Hello Brit,
I have a question about surnames and given names in the DS260. Since in my passport I have my name listed only under “Full Name”
Considering there are 4 names under my full name:
If I put the third name as my surname and the rest under given names with the third one included would I need to unlock the DS260 to fix any type of formatting mistake or would it be fine?
October 13, 2022 at 18:35
So I have received the following email:
“You have received this email notification to inform you that you have updates available at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC. Please log in using your confirmation number from your original application to complete further processing.”
I have tried logging in using the correct information only to get an error on the captcha code saying “Please enter the code as you see or hear it.”, even though I am entering the correct captcha code.
I have only received the email 3 hours ago, so does this mean I just have to wait a while before trying to log in?
October 23, 2022 at 14:45
It is fixed now.
October 22, 2022 at 15:42
You need to use your own judgement since I cannot know standards in your country.
October 10, 2022 at 19:34
Hi Brit. My brother want to register for the dv 2024. He is a builder without certification and has no educational qualification. He has been in this profession for the past 6years. Can he ride on with the registration? If yes, what do you advice him to choose as his highest level of education?
October 22, 2022 at 15:46
He can enter the lottery and pick any education level since that question is not important. However, if selected, he would probably not be able to meet the requirement so it would be a waste of time and money.
October 31, 2022 at 14:58
Thanks much for the insight. Appreciate
October 10, 2022 at 22:55
Hi Brit!
I’m a DV2023 winner with case number AF35***. Is it okay to apply for the DV2024 whilst I’m waiting for the interview incase I don’t get an interview since my case number is a bit high?
October 22, 2022 at 15:47
Yes
October 11, 2022 at 00:43
Hey Simon,
I’d like some clarity on this please. Can an undocumented immigrant in the U.S apply for DV lottery and still succeed?
Thank you in advance!
October 22, 2022 at 15:47
Yes, BUT they would have to leave the country to process and cannot be barred from entry – so they must not overstay for more than 6 months.
October 11, 2022 at 10:54
Hi Simon,
Thank you very much for what you do!
Quick question – My passport is currently valid but my wife and kids passports expired. Do I just leave it open when I get to their passport details?
Also, I assume we can’t do another application on my wife’s name as her passport is expired, right?
Thanks again!
October 22, 2022 at 15:56
Passports are not needed for entry.
October 11, 2022 at 17:20
Thank you for your quick reply Simon!
I have one concern my case No is 11k and When I filling the ds260 form I choose her interview location to be at Europe and due to that she will be joining me latter.
But I see from your blog that joining latter may take years for reunion.

Hi, Mr. Simon!
I am 41, I was born in the Republic of Uzbekistan, now I have the citizenship of the Russian Federation. I have not been married and have no children yet.
My father was born in South Ossetia (Georgia) and my mother was born in Russia. At the time of my birth, my parents did NOT have a permanent registration permit in Uzbekistan, since both of them were students of uzbek universities. As usual, students of universities at study time had only temporary registration in Uzbekistan. They NEVER had the citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
1. Can I choose my country of eligibility/chargeability as the country of birth of either of my parents (Georgia or Russia)?
2. How do you think which country of eligibility/chargeability is more preferable for winning of the DV Lottery 2024 – Uzbekistan, Russia or Georgia?
Thank you for your response!
Kind regards,
Albert
October 22, 2022 at 16:05
Just enter by country of birth and avoid all the risk.
October 23, 2022 at 14:38
Thanks! God bless you!
October 12, 2022 at 03:04
Hi sir ,
I got selected in dv 2022 but after interview I got rejected due to my work experience as housekeeping supervisor as I don’t have high school and can I try again for dv 2024 through work experience as executive housekeeping manager
October 13, 2022 at 00:48
This is a tough one. you have to check the job requirements. what fall under a job with experience according to usa http://www.oneonline.org to see if it qualifies. maybe your job does not Qualify.. eg mechanical engineer with 2year experience can be eligible with proof in the field
October 22, 2022 at 16:07
You could enter DV2024, but the outcome will probably be the same.
October 12, 2022 at 04:17
Hi simon. These days since Fvlottery 2024 began selectees cant check their status of whether they have receives 2nl are you aware of that
October 22, 2022 at 16:07
It is fixed now.
October 12, 2022 at 08:16
i got problem checking 2023 dv result, when i send it ,the result thus not come
October 22, 2022 at 16:08
Try again now.
October 12, 2022 at 10:55
Hi Brit,
A friend of mine has a 19-year-old daughter who in turn has a child, so he wants to apply for the visa lottery and wants to know if his daughter and grandson apply as derivatives of him and must be declared in the entry.
Thank you in advance.
October 20, 2022 at 16:00
I have read that any unmarrried child under 21 years old must be included in the parents application, but what about if this 19 years old child has a son? I can’t find anything about this specific situation.
October 23, 2022 at 19:57
The child must be included, but the grandchild cannot be included or added to the case later.
October 22, 2022 at 16:09
The daughter must be listed if she is not married, but the grandchild cannot be included, so it would split the family.
October 12, 2022 at 18:55
Hi Brit
I have question When I entry DV 2023 For my family name I mistakenly I put my First name…Is that be problem..In DS260 I submit the name correctly….As passport
October 22, 2022 at 16:10
As long as the DS260 is correct you would normally be OK.
October 12, 2022 at 19:42
Hello Simon,
Regarding Dv 2024 I was born in a town. should I left “the city part” empty. or should I write the district since it is what written in my passport.
October 13, 2022 at 00:32
Brit has said this severally in his video use place in your passport
October 13, 2022 at 04:20
Sorry I made a mistake I mean I was born in village.
October 12, 2022 at 21:05
Hello Simon,
I received today the email from [email protected]: “You have received this email notification to inform you that you have updates available at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC. Please log in using your confirmation number from your original application to complete further processing.”
However, I haven’t been able to login to the website since the beginning of the DV2024 registrations, and therefore, cannot see my appointment. Do you know if it is normal that the captcha part seems to be repeatedly bugging?
Thanks.
October 22, 2022 at 16:41
It’s fixed now.
October 12, 2022 at 22:43
Dear Simon,
This question is merely out of curiosity.
I had just done submitted my DV 2024 and found this year application there is no need to fill in valid passport number requirement.
I am just wondering what made them decided to cancel this requirement introduced just little over two years ago with the intention to reduce fake applicants ?
Thank and regards
Jenny
October 13, 2022 at 05:53
Hi Brit,
I am 100 percent confused. After receiving my confirmation number, I didn’t close the browser but with the intention of filling one for my sister by clicking “Resume Entry” 2 times when “browser timed out and I was given this message…
“The information submitted has not been accepted because it matches a previous entry in our records. Individuals may only submit one entry per DV period.
Duplicate entries will not be accepted.”
Will I be disqualified for duplicate entry?
Thank you
October 22, 2022 at 16:44
No, because it stopped you.
October 22, 2022 at 16:43
The new rule to require passports was implemented in a way not consistent with the law and procedures. So – someone sued the government and the court blocked the passport requirement. If the government want to reintroduce the rule, they have to go through a set of steps, which they did not do prior to DV2024 registration.
October 13, 2022 at 05:54
Hi Simon
Only found you yesterday on YouTube – what a nice surprise 🙂 I’ve got a ‘difficult’ question.
I am a dual Canadian and South African citizen (with two passports) and my partner is a dual Australian and South African citizen (with two passports).
While we were travelling in the USA on a visitor’s visa on our Canadian and Australian passports, (because it is easier and you need an Esta and nothing else) we got married with those two passports in Florida. (complete with proper marriage certificate at the court etc).
I was born in South Africa and live in South Africa – so that takes care of the application and changeability part (my husband was born in Australia and lives here).
BUT will they accept the marriage if we are applying from South Africa and it was done with our foreign passports? Obviously we are not hiding our dual citizenship status – so I’m hoping it will be fine.
We considered getting married again in South Africa with our SA passports but then the dates will differ and don’t want to mess up the application process.
The legality is that SA will recognise the overseas marriage – but not sure how the US side will treat this?
October 22, 2022 at 16:47
You’re married – your citizenships are irrelevant.
You should both apply by your place of birth, BUT you could actually get a massive increase in your chances by charging to Australia through something called “elective cross chargeability”. It’s legal. The only downside is that if YOU are selected, both you and your husband will need to meet the requirements such as education.
October 22, 2022 at 17:20
Thank you!!!!
I thought about doing him there but did not consider my application – that will make a difference yes.
We both have university education so that is not a problem.
I was trying to see now – does Australia truly have a bigger chance to get selected (over African region)?
October 23, 2022 at 20:34
Yes OC region has a MUCH higher chance of selection (1 in 15/20 years versus 1 in 100 or 200 years).
October 13, 2022 at 07:15
Hi Brit,
Thank you for your valuable information. I’m a Sri Lankan, living now in UK temporarily (Chargeable to SL). Right now, I have the interview location as Colombo, SL. Now I’m thinking of changing my interview location to UK, since I’m living here.
Would this negatively affect my chances as UK is not on DV eligible countries now? Where would you recommend me to have my interview in? Colombo or UK?
October 22, 2022 at 22:54
UK is fine.
October 13, 2022 at 08:19
Good evening Brit,
My case number is 2023AS03XXX, I submitted my DS 260 on the end of sept . When can I expect my case to be called/processed? Will i be emailed directly and what else may i do to prepare?
October 22, 2022 at 23:00
You have a long wait – until probably early 2023. Just read the instructions and make sure you are getting documents together.
October 13, 2022 at 13:35
kindly note that my DV2022 Visas are issued and the embassy told me there a problem in stamping Visas on Passports because I renewed my passport before interview, but kindly note I did that because I were asked(in 12th May2022 at 3.20 PM o’clock) by Embassy’s Officer to renew as it having less than 6 Months Validity, and now they can’t stamp visas on passports because of that(it’s not my fault), so please what to do? and what do you expect happened?
note: my Medical exam Expires after 1 week.
Thank you.
October 22, 2022 at 23:03
If you did not get the visa stamped then it is over, they cannot do that now.
October 13, 2022 at 17:15
Hi Simon,
Hope you are well.
I have been trying to chech the status at the ESC page but it never gets through the catchphrase. It always returns “Please enter the code as you see or hear it”, although I enter it correctly.
I wonder if this is happening to everybody or maybe a certain kind of browser needs to be used. Im using chrome????
Thank you.
October 23, 2022 at 14:44
It is fixed now.
October 13, 2022 at 21:24

They may do DNA in some circumstances, But simply don’t lie. Your husband is that child’s step father through marriage which is fine.

Dear Simon, many thanks for your effort with helping people. Short long question: I had my interview. Been successful. Got my visa. I intend to enter the US asap, for a few days stay, so that I handover the sealed envelope to the immigration officer at the airport and initiate the process for having the PRC delivered to a friend’s address in the US. I fly out of the US, with the intent to return for good three months later. Therefore, I depart US without waiting to have the PRC into my hands. Do you see any wrongdoing in this plan of mine? A simple yes or no will do. Thank you once again!

Hi Brit, I have a case number 2023AF3XXXX. Which appears likely to only be eligible sometime in July-Sept 2023. I’m currently in the US on an H1B visa so would be filing for change of status directly and not submitting a DS-260. Is it possible to submit my I-485 before my case number becomes eligible, so that the application to change status is already recorded somewhere in the system and can be considered as soon as my case number does become eligible?

Yes and no. There is an early filing policy for DV cases, BUT the early means when the case number is listed in the VB. So – if the number became current for a July interview (which is about the latest I can imagine by the way), that would be announced in the VB published in early May. Therefore you can submit in May.

Hey
I am DV 23 winner and I forgot to add one of my emails (1) to the three emails I mentioned in my DS 260. However, I already emailed the KCC to send me emails on this email (1). DO I request to unlock my file to add it?
Noting that my interview would probably be in around February-March in Canada.
Thank YOU Simon !

There would be no harm in unlocking…

Good morning Mr. Brit Simon,
2023EU1XXX I have just received the following email:
“You have received this email notification to inform you that you have updates available at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC. Please log in using your confirmation number from your original application to complete further processing.”
I have tried logging in using the correct information only to get an error on the captcha code saying “Please enter the code as you see or hear it.”, even though I am entering the correct captcha code.
As I see from other posts this is a problem that many have. Where do I address this problem to be solved ?

It’s fixed now.
