Hello Simon,
Firstly, thanks for all the support you are providing. I’ve got my visa. Now I am planning to come to US for 10 days and then come back to my country and move to America in the summer.
My question is should I stay in US and wait for my Green Card or may I return to my country freely? Meaning will my leaving affect my application in any way?
November 20, 2022 at 10:14
It won’t be a problem. Just return before 1 year of absence.
November 29, 2022 at 18:01
Hi Mr Simon, Thanks a lot once again for all the guidance. I arrived at LAX, but the process was not as I expected. I was expecting (as I heard) that when I give up my package I will be required to go through a separate interview and stamped on the PP. But the officer asked from another officer and they both checked the data (I guess) and stamped the usual entry stamp on my Visa page from the embassy. I repeatedly ask whether that’s all and she said “yes, you will get the GC to the address mentioned”. The only difference I observe to the NIV stamp was that the number of the DV visa written on the stamp. I hope this is okay?
That was my experience, and when on the waiting line, I was thinking about you, how you guided this long way almost an year. A big thank you. Hope to stay for a month and be back to wind up business at the home country and return.
December 3, 2022 at 12:43
Congratulations on your LPR status. You have never heard me describe anyone having an interview at the POE – that would not have been normal. The process you experiences is normal, so no need to be concerned.
November 30, 2022 at 00:49
Hello Brit! A quick question regarding the I134. I am the DV23 winner and my brother who is an LPR is filling my I134. We both have notoriously long names and basically, the length of the names are the same. We both can fit in our full names in sections 2 and 3, but in the table where it requires the full name again, it just won’t fit in. We both have a first name, two middle names, and a surname. If we omit one middle name, it fits just fine. Will this method cause a problem since that table also, specifically asks for the full name? If it is a problem, what would you suggest? Please help.
January 1, 2023 at 05:23
Hi Brit. My case is AS15k but still hasn’t received my 2NL though my case is there for February visa bulletins. Is it normal or something wrong with my case.
January 2, 2023 at 10:29
It’s pretty normal. Be patient.
November 27, 2022 at 12:38
hi Brit, i have the appointment scheduled for 10th of January, i have a question similat to this,
is it possible that i enter the US with my visa, stay only for about 2 weeks and come back to my home country? how could it be possible if i read that the green card will be delivered after entry within 3 months?
can you give an explanation on this.
November 27, 2022 at 12:43
Yes it is possible. It will be delivered to the address on your DS260 whether you are there or not.

Hello Brit,
I am a DV 2020 winner. I have a concern regarding the sponsorship. My sponsor earns more than 130000 USD per year and he has 5 members of his family. He is a citizen. My family is of 3 members. There is no concern about the income level.
But another family of 3 members have requested for his sponsorship. They are DV 2023 winners. They predict their interviews on April, 2023.
Can we both have the same sponsor? Sponsor is willing to help both.
TIA.
December 3, 2022 at 10:18
There is a small risk in that – so its your choice.
November 15, 2022 at 18:22
Hi Mr. simon,
My first name in my birth certificate and all my documents
– Mohamed Abderrahmane
But in my passport
– Mohamed A *full name can’t fit in passport*
And
i’ve include my full name which is Mohamed Abderrahmane in entry form and ds 260 also
Could it cause me problems? If yes what should i do?
November 20, 2022 at 10:16
No problem.
November 27, 2022 at 20:04
I have 2 questions kindly.
1.My husband was a DV 2020 winner. We are unfortunately getting divorced soon. If the case goes our way, will that mean I won’t get the visa? We never got an interview date but had submitted all the paperwork.
2. My husband became legally blind last year and can barely see anything. He was the primary applicant. Will that disqualify him for the visa?
November 27, 2022 at 20:43
1. Your ex-husband will still be able to get a visa, but not you.
2. It depends on the medical exam and whether the physician believes he can support himself with that disability.
November 16, 2022 at 09:25
Hi Brit, I had a corneal abrasion on my left eye for the dv 2024 passport photo, would this be reason for disqualification?
November 20, 2022 at 10:18
No
November 16, 2022 at 10:55
Hi Brit, can a person have their dv lottery photo taken with pink eye or is it considered a red eye?
November 20, 2022 at 10:19
Avoid pink or red eye.
November 16, 2022 at 17:56

November 16, 2022 at 21:59
Hello Brit, hope you are doing well and thank you in advance,
My question is that i am a dv winner 2023AS16xxx, and i had submitted my DS260 In 18 May, and since then i didnt receive any email from KCC that my DS has been processed.
My questions are:
1- Do KCC send an email for each applicant when their DS is processed ?
2- is it normal that i had sent my DS since six months and no reply from KCC about processing till now ?
3- should I send KCC an email asking about the statue of My DS260 form ?
Thank you again,
Best regards,
November 20, 2022 at 10:23
1. No. They will respond to questions, but with your case number there is no need to bother them. You just wait.
2. Yes
3. See 1
November 21, 2022 at 00:34
Thank you very much,
The last VB for Jan in the Asia region was 9000, and my CN is AS16k, I am assuming that i might be current between March and April by maximum, Do you agree with me ???
November 21, 2022 at 09:32
No predictions needed from me…
November 17, 2022 at 19:15
Hi Sir Brit Simon,
My case number is 2023AS16XXX and I have submitted DS 260 form on 28-Aug-2022, I think it’s a little bit late submitting my question is ( Does late submitting of DS-260 will affect my case or does it will delay my interview date ) ?
November 20, 2022 at 10:25
You have a long time to wait because of your case number. By then, your DS260 will be processed. Just wait….
November 17, 2022 at 20:49
Hello Simon I won dv 2023 and my case number is current (but it is at stage 1, not processed ) my husband is a derivative he is in another country he will come to our country to attend the interview as a family but the location in my husband’s ds260 is still in another country
1. how can we change the location ?
2. does it have any risk if he come to our country?
3 To which location does his 2NL be sent if we did no change ?
November 20, 2022 at 10:28
1. KCC will make one interview appointment based on the home address of the main applicant. Derivatives will attend that interview.
2. I have no idea
3. See 1
November 17, 2022 at 22:37
Hi, my case numbers is SA21xx, is there a chance of being interviewed? And if so, in what month could it be?
November 20, 2022 at 10:29
Yes, probably, but I won’t try and predict the month…
November 19, 2022 at 00:29
Hi Brit,I am a dv 2023 af 42k.
My sponsor is a dv 2021 winner. He got a decent job a month after landing. He filled his tax report for the year 2021 which was just a few months. My fam and I are relying on 2022 tax report to take to the embassy assuming we will be interviewed past may. We are both worried as per below.
1 Do you think the 2022 tax report will be available by then?
2 Will the period of work for my sponsor be an issue at the embassy?
November 20, 2022 at 10:45
1. I don’t know.
2. No.
November 19, 2022 at 00:54
Dear simon
As you told me earlier, if my spouse didn’t attend at the interview is that mean I am the only one who gets the visa? And if that it is the case then can she join me letter?
November 20, 2022 at 10:46
Yes and yes – but understand that sponsoring a spouse later can take years.
November 19, 2022 at 03:23
Hi Brit, Thanks for your info. I am a DV2023 winner with case number AS4xxx. I only recently lodged my DS260. (Lost my confirmation number and only then was able to retrieve it). When I submitted the DS260 for myself, husband, son and daughter, I downloaded the confirmation pdf of all 4 submissions. But I received only 3 submission confirmation emails, my daughters one did not come through. The mail is titled ‘U.S. DoS – CEAC Confirmation (2023AS4xxx) and confirms the submission and has the confirmation attached as PDF. I received these 3 emails over the course of a few days after submission. But its close to 2 weeks and I still have not received this same email for my daughter.Does this mean that there is an issue with her DS-260? Or is it a normal admin processing delay?
Thanks for your time
November 20, 2022 at 10:53
Doesn’t matter at all.
November 19, 2022 at 04:53
Hi Brit
I won DV2023 with CN AS4xxx. My son who was not 21 is in my derivatives along with my husband and daughter. Son is now 21 years (in July 2022) and is currently overseas for studies. When applying for his DS260, I added the location as his current resident country as the form allowed me to do it.
But is it only the main applicant who will be scheduled for an interview and the derivatives have to accompany her? (Main applicant interview location is SriLanka)
I am not able to find this information anywhere. Please help
November 20, 2022 at 11:01
Only the main applicant will be scheduled, derivatives should attend that interview.
Your son should be covered by the CSPA – because you have gone current just in time. It is *critical* that you understand how the CSPA works for DV, and go to the interview prepared, because the CO might not understand the impact on DV cases.

November 23, 2022 at 05:09
Thanks so much for the heads up
November 23, 2022 at 06:30
HI Simon, So I did the calculation and it seems that my son ages out on 19th Feb 2023. And as per the Dec 2022 VB, my case is current in Jan 2023. I have not received my 2NL yet.
However as I said, I submitted DS 260 very late, in November 2022.
1. Does my late submission of DS260 impact this situation?
2. If not, since as per the VB, the AS4xxx is current in Jan 2023, even if I don’t get an interview date in Jan, does that mean my son is still eligible?
3. Is there an impact if the interview date is after 19th Feb 2023 and my case was current from Jan 2023?
Apologies for the string of questions. Really appreciate your valuable insight.
November 27, 2022 at 10:54
1. It will delay you, but should not impact the CSPA
2. Yes
3. No
November 19, 2022 at 05:06
Dear Simon, thank you for everything you do for us
Please kindly comment:
1) is it generally allowed to reschedule interview date after 2NL has been received? (I cannot attend it due to visa issues)
2) If yes – I should contact the embassy, correct?
Thank you!
November 19, 2022 at 07:10
Hi Simon,
Fellow Brit here! I have been watching your helpful videos. My question is quite specific to our circumstance. We believe we have good grounds to ask for vaccination excemption, we have briefly looked into support for this and for a lawyers help it would be quite costly. I wondered if you know anything about the procedure for applying for an excemption from finding out you are a winner to getting a green card, if investing in a lawyer would be a good idea and if there are any pitfalls we should avoid to make sure we don’t miss our chance?
Thank you in advance.
November 20, 2022 at 11:11
Having lost my mother (because of an anti mask idiot that infected and killed several people in an otherwise well quarantined care home), and several work colleagues, all to Covid, I am completely unsupportive of people that won’t do a simple bloody thing to protect themselves and, more importantly, the community.
I see people who won’t vaccinate the same as someone in the blitz standing around with a flashlight pointed at the sky or not using their blackout curtains. They would allow the bombers to target the area in the same way that some who won’t vaccinate would affect their community.
November 19, 2022 at 11:09
Hi Brit- Good Day to you
My question is on Affidavit of support(I-134), I have a four member family, and planning to settle down in New York if I get through from Green Card Interview. Considering the 4 members in the family and New York being the place to reside, what’s the range of an annual salary that the sponsor should draw annually.
If Sponsor has already sponsored someone under I-864 category, can the same sponsor can commit for green card sponsorship(I-134)
Kindly advise.
November 20, 2022 at 11:14
Formula described here:
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
Personally I would not risk an I-134 from someone already legally bound on an I-864.

Hi Simon,
I hope you are doing great!
Here comes a question for you and I need your help with this.
I only have my Ordinary Level Examination Results Certificate. I haven’t done my Advanced Level Examination. I am an government employee and I have fifteen years of experience.
American Embassy needs the Advanced Level Result Certificates.
Therefore, I have only completed Ordinary Level and, I don’t have the Advanced Level result certificate. Do I need to present the Ordinary Level result certificate instead of Advanced Level Result Certificate? Is it okay?

Hi Simon
My Husband is Indian and got selected with DV 2023 for EU having my birth place is Germany with srilankan nationality, and the case number details is as follows
2023EU00019***
I submitted my DS 260 by May 2022 and am waiting for my 2NL and my case number to be current. I got my interview location mentioned in my DS 260 as Mumbai where I am currently in India,
I work for a reputed IT company and I have got an opportunity to travel the UK for wrk by this December 2022 and its a 2 yr visa, So I need to change my interview location from India to London,
1. Do I need to drop mail to KCC TO CHANGe the location by themselves or I need to raise a req to them to unlock my ds 260 for me to change the location?
2. Will this change in location at this stage of Europe being 15000 in VB delay or confuse the SEQUENCE of my 2nl as I am moving out of the queue and is it like starting from first?
3. As I am going to travel to Uk( Swindon) in December with the main applicant and my kids, is there anything I need to change or amend the submitted DS 260?.
Please advice

Hello Brit,
Thank for your continued support.
My CN is 2023EU19XXX.
The passport I submitted my DS260 with will expire in September 2023.
1 – Is it wise to have it renewed now, knowing that I won’t be able to keep the old one?
2 – Do I need to take any other actions?
Thank you!
November 20, 2022 at 11:54
1. Yes – and take photocopies of the old one.
2. No

Hello Mr.Simon. I have a question for you. Please answer this. One of my friend is a DV lottery winner and her interview on January. She is separated with her spouse, but not legally. When DS 260 filing she has mentioned that spouse will not go with her. and also she hasn’t file a 260 form for spouse and no photos were added in her application. Is this matters in interview and leads to a refusal of her visa.?.
November 20, 2022 at 22:25
If she did not include the spouse in the original entry, then she will be disqualified at the interview.

hello Brit,
I am from Ghana and my wife in the USA has filled me. My case(ACC2020–0026) has been with the NVC since November 2020. Every 60 days they keep updating me.
May I know possible date for my interview appointment notice?
November 20, 2022 at 22:30
I only answer dv lottery questions.
November 20, 2022 at 13:37

The lawsuit win DV 2020. Y government always appeal this?
What is the appeal of this time?
can u explain the government appeal
When this ending ?
Is this the last appeal of the government/
November 21, 2022 at 09:34
They are fighting to protect 2 key points. 1. Presidential power, which the ruling undermined, and 2. The fiscal year being a boundary.
It’s not that they hate immigrants or the DV program, it’s just that.
We must wait for the outcome. That’s all.
November 21, 2022 at 05:30
Hello,
I have first citizenship of Belarus and a second one in Armenia. Do I need a police certificate of Armenia where my interview is scheduled (although I’ve never stayed there longer than a couple of days) or it makes no sense unless I used to live there for a long period of time?
Thank you for your assistance!
November 21, 2022 at 09:35
You must read the instructions. If you had, this question would be unnecessary. Read the instructions so you don’t miss anything.
November 21, 2022 at 12:14
Dear Simon,
While packing for my upcoming journey to the States as an immigration visa holder, I suddenly noticed that the interviewing officer must have taken quite a few original documents back in July at the US Embassy. These include some important docs such as the notarised translations of my uni graduation certificate (including its original transcript), birth certificate, marriage certificate, and military records, to name a few. Are these currently in the closed brown envelope, which I’m not supposed to open? Will I be handed these documents upon my arrival in the USA by the officer who opens the envelope? Or am I supposed to obtain new original copies while I’m still here in my home country – to be able to use them later in the States when applying for a job or opening a bank account, etc? How does this work?
November 23, 2022 at 09:30
You will not get any of those documents handed back. That is why you are instructed to take copies of those documents to the interview – you show the original, and leave them a copy.
November 23, 2022 at 10:32
I know that. But they kept and never returned the original copies of my university certificate, alongside the notarised and stamped translations of my birth certificate, marriage certificate, police certificate and military records.
November 27, 2022 at 10:15
Again, they are not planning to give any of that back.
November 21, 2022 at 12:44
Hi Brit, tnx for the hard work ur doing all these years. One simple question.
CN EU25xxx, is it high or low?
November 23, 2022 at 09:30
High end of medium.
November 21, 2022 at 19:34
Hi Simon.
I have entered US through immigrant visa. Gave my biometrics a couple of weeks ago. Do i need to fill any form such as i-485 to obtain the green card? There is no clear answers anywhere on what to do. It has been 50 days since i arrived in the country and paid the fee v first day. I am not sure if i can start working or looking for a job or anything. Can you please clarify mate? Thanks again.
November 27, 2022 at 10:52
There is no further process. Your visa has been endorsed, that is proof of your resident status and right to work. If you don’t already have the SSN you should apply at the SSA office.
November 27, 2022 at 12:49
Thanks for replying man. I want to go back before Christmas to my home country and come back later but I haven’t got the green card yet in my hand. Prolly a stupid question but can I leave before it arrives and later on come back on esta visa as my one stamp entry visa would expire by then? It’s a risky decision though I figure?
November 27, 2022 at 20:40
You return on the endorsed visa – no need for an ESTA
November 28, 2022 at 02:00
From what I’ve learnt (thanks to Brit) you can travel with your staped visa for 12 months since you first entered the country and got your IV stamped. After those 12 months you should be traveling with your Green Card, I’ll probably arrive 2-4months after landing if you paid the GC fee.
November 28, 2022 at 22:03
Thanks Brit and Alberto. Appreciate the help.

Case 2023AF101XX (Morocco). Case is current for January Interviews.
Mailed to KCC for the status and got following as response:
“Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing.”
As it is currently processing, do you see my case to be pushed to February or later?
November 27, 2022 at 10:52
Yes
November 22, 2022 at 17:02
Dear simon
There is one spelling difference in my spouses documents. The grandfathers name of my spouse is written as NEMARIAM in all the documents. But in her passport the “I” letter changed into “Y” and becomes NEMARYAM. Does this problem cause problem in our interview
November 27, 2022 at 10:53
No
November 23, 2022 at 07:57
Hi simon
does “Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member to the Kentucky Consular Center.” means my DS was processed?
November 27, 2022 at 10:54
Yes
November 23, 2022 at 11:24

November 27, 2022 at 10:16
There is an appeal for DV2020. If that appeal is won, then some DV2020 visas will be given out – and some of those could be Muslim ban cases.
November 27, 2022 at 14:01
Thanks a lot for your response
November 23, 2022 at 16:12
Hello dear Simon. Thank you for providing the amazing support.
I have a question about the Social media section in my DS260. I am a DV 2023 winner with cn AF43K.
When filling out the social media section in my DS260, I input Instagram & TikTok because they are the ones I use most. I haven’t put Facebook.
I personally don’t think this is gonna be a problem because they haven’t told us to input above a minimum number of social media platforms.
I also don’t want to unlock coz I again don’t think this will be a problem.
But I would like to get your perspective on this on what you think I have to do moving forward. I have been worried on what to do here. Can this be a big problem or am I just overthinking it?
November 27, 2022 at 10:17
You list the accounts you have, not the ones you use the most.
November 30, 2022 at 22:23
Thank your dear BritSimon for clarifying everything & clearly showing me unlocking won’t be a problem.
I have now unlocked my DS260 and have made the necessary revisions. I have included all my social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc.
I then re-submitted the form within 1 hour after its unlocking. I hope it gets processed asap before the end of the year.
Thank you for the amazing support.

Hi Brit
I have been interviewed at U.S. Embassy Amman/Jordan two weeks ago and my visa approved but haven’t received my passport yet! Are there any PASSPORT TRACKING tools to know the date of returning passports?
Thanks.

Some embassies ask you to register with a courier prior to the interview. That is the method of tracking and delivery.

Hi
I heard that selectees are actually selected way before the may announcement date when results are published.
My question – do you know when about (at least the month) the computer randomly allocates numbers to the millions of applicants in the system?
I know this is a random question but I’m just really curious
Thanks for your time

No

Hello, Simon,
if I cannot attend the interview (I’m seriously ill at the moment), can I reschedule it somehow or my chances are gone? Thank you
November 27, 2022 at 10:18
You should be able to reschedule.

Dear Simon,
We got the DV visa last September. Thank you very much for your advice and your time.
We were planning to travel for a week in January (the provisional visa expires in February) and then come back to Spain until august. But during the interview we were told not to do that, we asked the consular why, and he just said ” please don’t do that, you should stay 2 to 3 weeks until you get the green card before leaving the country”. We are a bit confused.Thank you very much
November 27, 2022 at 10:18
That is nonsense. You can leave the same day if you want.

Hello sir, I’m a DV 2023 winner, EU6xxx, so my case number is current regarding the last VB (January). I’ve sent my DS260 on July 2nd, but unlocked it and resent it on August 6th. I have no new from KCC and I’m still waiting for my 2NL, is it normal ? Thanks a lot for your help !
November 27, 2022 at 10:21
Yes. Mostly they are still processing May and June submissions (which is the bulk of the submissions)
November 25, 2022 at 17:27
Thank you, one last question, my number is 2023AS16k, based on your experience and knowledge:
1 – is it a high number for the Asia region ?
2 – people with same area and number in previous years did they get interviewed ?
November 27, 2022 at 10:21
1. Medium
2. It’s not a worthwhile comparison since the numbers are different each year.
November 26, 2022 at 00:44
Dear simon,
I submitted my ds 260 on august and my case number is 2023af10***. As per the VB I am current but still I didn’t recieve 2NL. Does this mean I have a problem with my case?
November 27, 2022 at 10:22
No – it just means you submitted late and therefore will have to wait a couple of months more.

Hi Brit,
Thank you all the time and the genuine help you provide to us all. My family and I got our visa back in August, and we must enter in January the country to get the LPR status. I’ve seen in the FAQ (really useful compilation) that once you get your visa stamped, you can travel for 12 months withouth the phisical Green Card (contrary to what the consular officer told us!).
Will we receive the stamp in the airport the very same day we arrive, or shall we get it stamped somewhere else?
If it’s in the airport, this would mean that theoretically one could get in the country and leave it on the very same day, right? (to tie up loose ends in your home country). We’re planning to be there for 10 days, but want to better understand the process of getting the stamp.
Thank you again, it makes a huge difference to us staying for 10 days vs several weeks we initially thought we needed to stay to get the green card.
November 27, 2022 at 10:23
Yes you could leave the same day if you wanted. The stamping is what happens the at the first entry – it is the normal process.
November 27, 2022 at 12:31
Thank you a lot for your fast and precise answer!! We had been said by consular officer that we shouldn’t leave the country before getting the actual Green Card. It’s good to know that that’s not how it works.
Thanks a lot for your help!!!

Hi Brit,
I have received this reply as I asked to reschedule appointment due to my some reason.
1. What they mean available visa number in February?
2. Embassy Capacity in February?
3. Is there any chances that we would be reschedule?
Dear Visa Applicant (4),
(2023AS00003***/STK, Sweden),
We have cancelled your appointment on January 11, 2022. At this time, we do not know our capacity for February or if visa numbers would still be available per current visa bulletin. You may therefore reach out to us in the beginning of January to see if we can schedule you and your family for an appointment in February.
· For now, please email a copy of the biodata page in each family members passport prior the interview by responding to this email.
Please remember to bring all below original and copies of each civil documents (and translations) for your interview.
Please note that the DV2023 Program will end on September 30, 2023. Under no circumstances can diversity visas be issued or adjustment approved after September 30, 2023. Therefore it is very important that you read the instructions and make sure to have all documents in order.
November 27, 2022 at 20:42
You asked to reschedule – so now they are not guaranteeing you that any visas will be left (they will) or that they will have capacity. So – you have to follow their instructions.

Hello Brit!
Please how can I access the Affidavit of Support form? I’m not sure if my embassy requires it but I just want to be on the safe side.

Google I-134

Good day Brit
2023AF4XXX.
I submitted my DS260 on 25 May and my DS260 is still not processed. I emailed the KCC twice now, but I get the same reply – “Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing”
I am starting to get a bit worried as they should have processed my DS260 and I am well within the ‘Current’ numbers
November 28, 2022 at 09:48
No need to worry. Just be a little more patient.

hi Brit , this is my case number at NVC, when is this coming up at the embassy.?
December 3, 2022 at 10:16
I only answer DV lottery questions.
November 28, 2022 at 19:51
Hello Brit! I was a DV-2021 selectee. I sent my Ds-260 in October 2020 but it was not processed. I did not send any other documents to KCC.
1. Do you think they still have my filled out Ds-260 in their systems ?
2. Assuming I get selected for DV-2024, will they do a comparison between my new Ds-260 and the old one?
Thanks!
December 3, 2022 at 10:16
1. Yes
2. That is possible.
