March 18, 2023 at 17:02
You have to wait for the outcome of the lawsuit appeal.

Hello Simon,
I have a question please, my case number is AS00018XXX, country Lebanon and the US embassy is in Beirut, I have sumbitted my DS260 form in August, and I did some modifications in it by September. what do you think about my chances? thanks in advance
March 20, 2023 at 20:33
I don’t know when you were processed and added to the AV queue. So – I don’t know.
March 21, 2023 at 07:15
Hello sir may I know Japanese people have chance to win dv lottery and got the visa about japan do you know please reply my comment

March 17, 2023 at 08:51
Hello Simon, I am Ivan and case number 2023AF44***
I live in Uganda currently and have the embassy set for an interview as Nairobi. Given the recent information about how slow they are going with the scheduling, I was wondering whether it would be smart enough to take up this job offer I have in Rwanda and have my DS260 open for a change of address early April.
Do you think it is any better if I did that to broaden my chances
March 18, 2023 at 17:03
Yes – do that if possible.
March 17, 2023 at 09:56
hello simon,
Would you be able to confirm if a health insurance policy is necessary to show at the interview or this rule was removed with Presidential Proclamation on Health Care?
On May 14, 2021, President Biden revoked Presidential Proclamation 9945, Suspension of Entry to Immigrants Who Will Financially Burden the United States Healthcare System.
March 18, 2023 at 17:03
No longer needed.
March 17, 2023 at 14:48
Hello Brit, thank you for all the help you give.
I’m due for an interview 29 March after being rescheduled by embassy from 8 March.
I already was sent supporting documents for the i-134 by my sponsor just I got rescheduled.
Now my Q is
1)do I proceed to the interview with the documents provided, or the new date affects (specially pay stubs) which were provided?
Or it’s not an issue to worry about?
March 18, 2023 at 17:03
No need to worry.
March 20, 2023 at 17:53
Hi Simon,
I’m a DV 2023 winner and I’m expecting an interview to be scheduled in the near future.
Concerning the proof of funds, I already withdrawed my “fresh USD” from the bank because we have a bank sector crises in Lebanon; do I need to re-enter my fresh money in my bank account? Or if I come to the interview having my banknotes in USD will be enough? Do I need an official paper from a notary public prooving my wealth?
Your reply be will very much appreciated.
Regards,
March 20, 2023 at 20:33
Bank accounts, not cash.
March 21, 2023 at 01:30
Our bank sector is completely down and people do not trust them anymore. Everyone is not leaving a single penny in their account. Is there any other way to show a proof of liquidity?
March 21, 2023 at 12:45
I don’t know what options you have – use your own judgement.
March 17, 2023 at 17:33
Dear Simon,
I have a question related to the passport expiration date. The thing is that we expect to receive the 2NL soon and assume that the interview will be scheduled in May or June the latest. However, if it happens in June, my two children (5 and 7 years old), by that time, will possess passports which expire in less than 6 months. Meanwhile, getting a new passport will take between 2 and 3 months, in the best-case scenario. What do you think, is it risky to enter the embassy with such passports (valid for less than 6 months) and might it affect the CO’s decision on issuing visas for the entire family? If yes, what would your recommendation?
Thank you in advance for the response.
March 18, 2023 at 17:04
Renew them now.
March 17, 2023 at 18:48
Hi Brit,
Good Day!
We have our interview scheduled for this month. I have my i-134 filled in and have a few clarifications in that. The sponsor had filled in the xerox copy of the form with a black pen, signed and then sent me the scan copy of the filled-in form.
1. My sponsor filled in the form selecting the “Another ind who is the bene”
2. Prt 2 with Primary application and derivative details( referring you video on I 134)
3. Part 3 with Sponsor details, name address and employment details. He gave his annual salary detail and also his bank deposit amount details.
4. Part 4 is ignored with neither details filled in nor the beneficiary signature
5. Part 5 my sponsor is declared and signed.
Proof he had attached by writing the beneficiary’s name on the copy of the proof and then he scanned the final copy that he sent me
1. His driving license
2. Paycheck for Feb 2023
3. His bank deposit account balance summary
Could you please is this suffice for me to submit the I 134 with the above details.
Thank you in advance
Regards
Sharmi
March 18, 2023 at 17:04
I would add the most recent annual tax report (1040) or W2.
March 19, 2023 at 15:52
Sure thanks Brit, will add the form.
And is tat do the primary applicant(the beneficiary) also need to sign the form I 134 in part 4 additional to the sponsor signed in part 5.? Please confirm
March 20, 2023 at 09:19
I don’t have the form to hand, so use your judgement.
March 23, 2023 at 02:00
Hi Sharmi, Hope all went well with the interview. Please keep us posted. I am also in the same situation as you – I need to provide I134 and have a son who turned 21 and is covered by the CSPA. Thanks
March 18, 2023 at 23:45
Hi Dear Simon,
Thanks for your continuous support and guidance.
We had or interview back in Jan 2023 and I’m the main applicant everything was smooth and perfect but, in the end, the consular said that there is a mark on the system for my wife and its maybe due to name duplication issue and he put my wife under section 221g, gave me a letter and sent an E-mail requesting further details only for her travel’s history on the DS-5535 form, which I filled out and sent as they indicated in the email.
Now it’s more than two months and the CEAC System showing Refused for both me and my wife and Ready for my Kids and displaying the same message that ” (Refused) A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer …. etc..”
So, I need your recommendation and advice should I:
1- Send a follow up E-mail to the Embassy
2- Call the CEAC to check status
3- Wait
March 20, 2023 at 09:15
There is no harm asking the embassy.
March 19, 2023 at 03:24
Hi dear Simon,
there are 31203 ready and issue visas in dv 2023, which means that there are 23797 visas left? or that 31203 visas not include family members?
March 19, 2023 at 03:57
Am Dv winner but yet still no date for my interview I submitted my ds260 on 10 nov. last year and am from Côte d’Ivoire or it’s that the embassy has slow down..
March 20, 2023 at 09:16
Your very late submission probably slowed you down. All you can do now is wait.
March 19, 2023 at 11:30
Dear Simon
Could you please give me some advise
My case is above 28k and i won from Armenia , but i live in Russia now
I have changed location for interview from Poland to Yerevan, but Yerevan Embassy works slower than Poland. So, what do you think , would it be better to try transfer my case back ?
the reason of my changing was that there may be difficulties to have visa .
Thank you
Best regards
March 20, 2023 at 09:17
This is a decision you must make for yourself, but is is crucial that you can travel to the place you choose.
March 19, 2023 at 15:04
Hello Brit.
The visa bulletin issued in February specifies the month of April as the month in which the interview can be scheduled. My number is DV 28XXX EU, I have been waiting for 2NL to schedule the interview but so far it has not arrived.
Please, what are the chances that I will get a date for the interview?
Thank you
Kukli
March 20, 2023 at 09:18
Your chance of interview depends on when you went into AV status, and how your embassy is doing. So – I cannot predict your chances.
March 19, 2023 at 17:25
Hi dear simon, Thanks for your information about DV on all platforms,
My question is , I am a derivative and living in Europe as an asylum seeker ( under asylum procedure, I.e neither granted refugee status nor refused, just waiting the decision)
So clearly I can not move to my home country, where my spouse will do an interview. So kindly I want to hear from you what is better for this situation. Hopefully their must be a special scenarionl for someone is in Asylum procedure whether a first applicant or a derivative(ias it is in my case.
Thank you
March 20, 2023 at 09:19
You interview where you live.
March 20, 2023 at 12:19
Thank you for your reply, but from your reply here ,it seems I ( a derivative) can have interview in Europe while my spuse( first applicant ) will have interview in Africa. Is that what you want to mean? And also I was expecting more information for someone ( a derivative ) living in another country as Asylum seeker( waiting decision to be granted refugee status or denial of it ) how to proceed with DV process particularly his/her interview location as it is apparent he/she can not move to their home countries ( where the first applicant make interview) .
Thank you for your advise and time.
Regards,
Zekaria
March 20, 2023 at 20:28
I should have been more clear – the interview is set based on where the main applicant lives.
March 19, 2023 at 17:26
Hi Brit, ….DV2023 winner (AF31***). I am currently studying in Canada so I sent an email to KCC to change my location from Ghana to Canada.
They replied saying my case is ready to be scheduled for interview and therefore can’t unlock my ds260. What can I do now?
As you keep saying, this is an opportunity of a lifetime so I don’t want to let it pass.
Please advise on what I can or should do.
March 20, 2023 at 09:22
Basically you are in a very tough spot now. The best route would be to contact the Canadian US embassy, and ask them to ask KCC to assign your case to them (proving that you live there). It might work, but is not guaranteed. Accra are very likely going to destroy a lot of dreams again this year.
March 21, 2023 at 07:17
Thanks…. Will contact the us embassy here n keep u posted
March 19, 2023 at 18:02
Dear Simon,
Thanks for your helpful information on all platforms regarding DV.
Can a derivative have a different interview location than the first applicant ? Provided that the derivative.is living in another country as Asylum seeker ( under Asylum procedure, waiting a decision granting a refugee status or not ).
Thank you
March 20, 2023 at 09:24
Generally no. It is typically too complicated to arrange (because there is no formal procedure for it), and the cases run out of time.
March 20, 2023 at 01:32
Hi Simon,
My Case is AS22xxx embassy is Colombo, Sri Lanka. Would you have any advice for persons applying through work experience? many have been rejected in Colombo in this category, most have 10+ years experience and do have the SVP range and job zone criteria as well, however the CO wasn’t convinced and in most cases did not pay too much attention to the applicant when they tried to explain apparently. This information is from the applicants visa experience which was shared on whatsapp group. Now I’m worried and nervous as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. What should we do to ensure a chance in getting selected/approved.
Really appreciate any guidance you can give us.
Thank you
Ingrid
March 20, 2023 at 09:26
All I can suggest is preparing the case methodically proving the requirement exists (showing the law/FAM guide), then documenting the experience gained and the alignment of the job to the Onetonline. I have no details of the refusals happening there so other than that I cannot imagine why cases are being denied.
March 21, 2023 at 03:26
Hi Ingrid,
I’m from SL with case number 22***. You have mentioned about a WhatsApp group and is it possible to get more info on that? Can I join?
Also you seem to be confident about getting our interviews scheduled before achieving the 55000 quota. Is there any kind of positive news?
Thanks
March 20, 2023 at 02:17
Can I Re Issue my Green Card after it has expired .
I won the DV Lottery and lived in USA for many years . Prior to expiry I moved back to Australia for family issues . Now that the GC expired I would like to have my GC and move back to US .
March 20, 2023 at 09:29
This is not my area of expertise and you have given me no detail on which I could comment, but I will say this – the car expiry does not affect your LPR status. You are an LPR still UNLESS you have abandoned your status by being out of the USA too low or some other way.
March 20, 2023 at 11:54
Hello,
I am selected for DV2023 further processing, i submitted the DS260 on January 2023, my case nr is EU21XXX which is current since this month, March.
I have contacted KCC, and they confirmed that my forms have been processed, but i have not received the 2NL yet, should i worry ?
Thanks in advance
March 20, 2023 at 20:24
Your very late submission meant that other cases would have been able to be placed into an AV queue ahead of you, even at higher case numbers.
Now – whether that is a worry or not depends on which embassy you are assigned to and their status.
March 21, 2023 at 05:53
I am assigned to Skopje, North Macedonia, there are 250 selections this year, 77 cases have been processed as of today.
March 22, 2023 at 15:12
I would appreciate your opinion on the Skopje Embassy, are they backlogged ?
March 22, 2023 at 17:11
Not particularly.
March 24, 2023 at 18:40
Received the 2NL today :)))
02 May interview date.
THANK YOU!
March 25, 2023 at 16:16
Great!
March 20, 2023 at 12:18
Hi Brit,
1. After requesting for my case status, I got this reply from KCC –> Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov.
My embassy is Colombo-Sri Lanka but I currently live in Malaysia (In the DS260 form, I have mentioned the current address as the Malaysia as well) Is there a possibility for me to change the embassy from Sri Lanka to Malaysia now ?
If No,
2. My case number is 2023AS17xxx. As per your analysis, do I have a chance of getting called for an interview through Sri Lankan embassy ?
March 20, 2023 at 20:27
1. You probably can’t switch now unless the Malaysian embassy asks KCC to assign your case to them. You can try that.
2. I don’t know, because I don’t know the size of the queue at that embassy or when you were added to it.
March 20, 2023 at 14:10
Hey Simon, I got selected DV2023 and submitted my DS-260 back in May 9 2022. My case number is Asia is quite high around 22500. I know that my number is not yet current according to the visa bulletin, but am I supposed to receive any email that KCC finished processing my case for example ? It still shows At NVC and no email received othe than the confirmation that i submitted DS-260. I am worried if I missed any step by mistake something, can you please advise ?
March 20, 2023 at 20:29
They will only tell you whether your case is processed or not if you ask them. Asking them is not a necessary part of the process.
March 20, 2023 at 16:16
Hi Brit, thanks for all the information you provide. I am DV2023 winner (OC16**), have not yet submitted DS-260 but planning on doing so in the next few weeks. Just wanted to check it’s not too late to be processed and interviewed within the DV2023 timeframe? Many thanks, Craig.
March 20, 2023 at 20:30
No, not too late, but whether the delay will affect you or not depends on the status of your embassy.
March 21, 2023 at 16:39
It will be London embassy, they look to be on top of things so should hopefully be okay if I make sure to submit soon? Many thanks, Craig
March 22, 2023 at 13:24
Yes, as far as we can tell at this point.
March 20, 2023 at 16:55
Hello Simon,
I am Venus. My case number is current for Africa region. I am in USA under H1B status but I still went for getting interviewed at Nairobi consulate option (because my home country is Kenya). As Nairobi consulate is lagging in scheduling interviews, can I opt for adjustment of status ?
If yes, what are the chances of USCIS giving a decision on AOS before Oct 31, 2023 ?
March 20, 2023 at 20:32
OMG, yes you should immediately switch and submit your AOS. There is plenty of time to process an AOS case. Do yourself a favor and go and study the information linked from the first post on the thread below – it tells you everything you need to do to process AOS.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2023-aos-adjustment-of-status-only.345837/
March 22, 2023 at 08:36
Thank you for your response !!
I emailed KCC about my case and they mentioned to me that my case is sent to Nairobi consulate and my case is locked. In this case, do you recommend to opt for AOS ? If so, how to do it ?
March 22, 2023 at 13:30
I already gave you my answer and a source for everything you need.
March 24, 2023 at 14:05
Great Brits can I get my interview on April
March 25, 2023 at 16:15
I cannot predict your chance.
March 20, 2023 at 20:45
Hi Simon!
I am winner of the 2022 DV lottery. I have had my case interview, been issued IV case number, have been given my temporary visa in my passport and have passed through the US (Hawaii in Jan) within 6 months of my medical.
My question is, it has been 3 months since passing through USA to validate my visa and my green card has still not been delivered to my friends address in the USA. Is there a way I can track this/ who do I contact to follow up? I was not given a USCIS case receipt that I’m aware of. I just have my IV case number.
Thanks in advance!
March 20, 2023 at 22:13
You can track in Elis. Google it.
March 21, 2023 at 11:50
Hi Simon …
I am asking about the police report for the interview. I have a long travel history (5 countries) and I have prepared all the requirements for 4 countries
As for the fifth country, it is Iraq, and I applied through the Iraqi embassy, paid the fees, and made a power of attorney for a friend in Iraq .
The certificate was issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, and I have a copy of it. But until now, the original has not arrived at the Iraqi embassy
4 months have passed now and the interview date is April 20th.
Should I submit the copy when I have the interview with an explanation of the situation, or should I travel to Iraq, which is almost impossible?
Note that the period of my stay in Iraq was 30 years ago to study.
thanks
March 21, 2023 at 12:48
No need to travel. Show the proof of what steps you took, and what you have.
March 21, 2023 at 15:21
Hi Mr. Simon,
Is it possible that the embassies schedule an interviews for the current case numbers before releasing the visa bulletin for this month?
March 22, 2023 at 13:23
No. KCC schedule interviews, not the embassies.
March 21, 2023 at 15:29
Hi Mr, Simon,
I have a recent travel to a new county which wasn’t mentioned in the DS260
Should I open my application, or i have to inform the consular during my interview or no need to mention it
Thank you for your help
March 22, 2023 at 13:23
No need
March 21, 2023 at 17:07
Hi Brit , I have a DV lottery interview coming up. I had overstayed a visiting visa by 11 months just short of 1 year back in 2019. I’m worried that this can affect the outcome of the interview. From what I have been reading , I may be inadmissible for 3 years. Do you think this will affect the decision to give me a Greencard?
March 22, 2023 at 13:26
That three year bar would have expired by bow I assume, so in that case it should not cause a problem, but it depends when you left, and when you interview.
March 22, 2023 at 02:28
Hi Simon…
I’m a Dv 2023 applicant and I did my interview in December 14 in Casablanca Morocco. After being placed under section 221(g) because I had not made the medical examination in time. I provided the results of the medical examination and my passport on December 29 but so far no news. And my case is placed on Ready status on the CEAC website. Please can you explain me or tell me if everything is ok.
Thanks !
March 22, 2023 at 13:27
Ask the embassy.
March 23, 2023 at 04:11
They don’t answer
March 22, 2023 at 04:38
Hit there,
hope you are well! Me and my wife look forward to our trip to New England in fall – this is gonna be our activation entry, if everything goes as we expect it to be with DV-2023 issueing.
Like many others we would have to sort out a couple of things before moving to the US permanently and most likely leave before we will have received our Green Cards.
So I was wondering if there were reliable and trustworthy service providers specialized on receiving and forwarding GCs by mail to Europe – or it least such who keep it safe for us, so that we can obtain it physically on our next trip a couple of weeks later. Part of the question also would be, if authorities accept such business as postal address for GC shipment?
March 22, 2023 at 13:28
The address for delivery must be a real residential address. Not a business. You can use a friend or family member.
March 22, 2023 at 10:20
Hi Brit! My interview is on 7th April. If the visa bulletin for April doesn’t get current by the 7th of April, is my interview appointment getting rescheduled?
March 22, 2023 at 13:30
Answered you on twitter
March 22, 2023 at 11:21
Hi Brit,
1.May my son who is 18 and my derivative enter the US on his own 2 months after me or should he enter at the same time than me ?
2.If he is allowed to enter by himself after me, who is supposed to carry the documents (sealed envelope and Xray) my son or me ?
Many thanks for your help and your wonderful work !
March 22, 2023 at 13:32
1. Yes he can do that.
2. He should carry his own.
March 22, 2023 at 11:24
1.Mr.Brit is it possible to withdraw my DS260 after submitting it? I got a scholarship and planning to apply for F1 visa and you & few more others mentioned there’s a high possibility for my F1 visa to be rejected.
Is there any way I can make it better for my F1 visa??
2.They published the May bulletin and AS region hasn’t changed. do you think there will be any hope for 22*** from SL?
Thanks a lot
March 22, 2023 at 13:33
1. No.
2. I dont know.
March 22, 2023 at 16:56
Hi Simon,
Thank you for all your help.
I am 2023AS00013xxx winner, and DS260 filled since last September. I only filled it up for myself, and did not fill a DS260 for my husband since he will not be traveling or living with me at this time. Until now have not received the 2NL. any idea what shall I do? Riyadh post.
March 22, 2023 at 17:14
Wait.
March 22, 2023 at 17:07
Hi Brit,
This may be a dumb question. A friend of mine received my family GC’s in the USA. I’m in my home country for a few months. Can they send (DHL, FEDEX, etc.) the GC’s or is not a reccoemended practice?
Thanks!
AC
March 22, 2023 at 17:14
Whatever you feel safe doing. But you have the endorsed visa, so it is probably not necessary to send them.
March 22, 2023 at 20:21
Hi Simon
After completely filling the I-134 form, what next?
Do the I need to print the copy and Casey along to the interview or
Do the individual filling on behalf of the beneficiary(the U.S Citizen) has to upload or submit it to a particular link or office?
March 22, 2023 at 21:43
You take it to the interview and present it if asked.
March 22, 2023 at 20:53
Hi Brit,
I have been searching this online for a while but found very little info. My question is what are some of the common questions that will likely be asked by a field office when pursuing a DV case through adjustment of status (aos)? Do you have any data point on this? Thank you! 🙂
March 22, 2023 at 21:46
Very few questions, all simple answers. No need to prepare. Relax.
March 23, 2023 at 20:41
Thank you so much!
March 23, 2023 at 02:07
Hi Brit. estimately how will the result be this year?
March 23, 2023 at 10:58
I don’t do predictions.
March 23, 2023 at 05:39
hi Simon my case number is 2023AF31### from Ethiopia I submitted my Ds 260 7 months ago which month do you think I get my 2nL
March 23, 2023 at 10:59
I don’t know.
March 23, 2023 at 05:44
Why do some cases get stuck in NVC even if their number is too low. There is a lot of cases based on CEAC Data DV where the number of the case is too low but their status says At NVC
March 23, 2023 at 11:00
Various reasons from people not submitting their DS260 to others who are fully processed and waiting for an interview but the embassy doesn’t make sufficient capacity available.
March 23, 2023 at 10:40
hello simon,
i would like to ask how to go about it if you and your partner leaves in different countries and can not travel to join the other for the interview, will it be possible to asked to be interviewed saperately at their respective location.because of financial situation i can not move the whole family to come for the interview at accra, my wife and kids live in ireland
March 25, 2023 at 16:19
Accra is not giving many interviews, you would be better being interviewed elsewhere. However, if you are lucky enough to get an interview you should get your wife and kids to attend the interview with you. Not doing so creates a risk for them, and will cost you a lot of time and money.
March 23, 2023 at 10:46
hi brit, how much must be the income of the sponsor to support a family of 4 ?
March 25, 2023 at 16:19
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
March 23, 2023 at 10:49
can the main applicant enter alone to US first and his derivatives enter after 2-9 month after that?
March 25, 2023 at 16:20
The visa is valid for 6 months after the medical – so they must enter before that date.

Hi Simon,
1) If we are issued the diversity visa, we have to go to the States within 6 months. Are we allowed to come back to our home country after entering the states?
2)If yes, do we have to wait until we get our green card before we can return to our country? How long do we need to stay until we can go back to our original country?
3) Thirdly, once we have received the green card, how long can I stay in my original country before leaving to stay in the states forever?

1. Yes
2. No
3. You can be absent from the USA for up to 12 months at a time.

So it means I can stay for a week or less in the states within 6 months of my visa issued, go back to my country and come back to the states within a year?

Hi Mr simons,
Is it possible to tell the number of processed Ds260 in AV queue at the Accra embassy and chances of case number af27*** receiving a second notification letter at the rate the embassy is performing? My last check with kcc was a month ago and I was told my case was ready to be scheduled for interview.

No we cannot know that data exactly.

Hi Simon,
How long does it take normally to go from stage 2 to stage 3?
Unlocked and resubmitted two weeks ago but still stage 2!
And basically what is the difference between these two stages considering we don’t have the document procedure anymore?
March 25, 2023 at 16:16
There is no real difference now. The how long is irrelevant.

Hi Brit
read a lot of comments and your recommendations,
Can you please make a kind of a deep dive (may be a brief video?) into AV queue status, since where are a lot of people in it now writing similar comments?
The questions are like:
(1) when you are put in the queue? (what are the exact triggers)
(2) why someone with higher case number is invited and you are not, even if you sent DS260 quite early?
(3) any analysis possible to roughly know you position in the queue? (and thus chances to be invited for an interview)
etc.

Yes I understand people are still struggling with the concept – I will create a video this weekend.

Hi Brit, Yes I also have similar questions and also want to know when a DS260 is processed with a low case number (which is current) how it would be placed in the AV queue.
1. Would that low case number move ahead of all current case numbers irrespective of the DS 260 submission date or DS 260 processed date?
2. Is the AV queue comprising of CN which are only current?
3. If the CN for a region doesn’t move for a few months (as it had happened) is it a good thing for a low case number with a late date of submission?
Sorry for the string of queries. Hope you will address some of it in the video. Looking forward. Thanks for the great work.

Hi Simon,
I hope everything’s well! I’m a DV selectee from Spain (EU29XXX). I’m planning on submitting my DS-260 next week (before the end of March). Am I too late or would it still be a sensible thing to do? Embassy would be Madrid.
Many thanks! Diego
