May 22, 2023 at 19:00
Hi Brit How are you? I really need your opinion
my Husband is In USA now with work permit visa but he’s case was denied 2 months ago and he appeals against to decision, however on ds260 I put my Husband later date to join me so he didn’t come to the interview,
I’m 2023 Winner and I had an interview last month, my and my kids document was fine, interview day Consul asks about my Husband and I told him he is in USA, Consul ask me few other questions and put me AP and told me we will call you later,
My questions is because of my Husbands visa case situation in USA, could Consul give me and my kids Refusal?
Thank you!

This is impossible to answer. I can’t guess what the CO will do.
May 21, 2023 at 02:25
hello simon Ankara is not delivering and currently with the last distribution in the EU Region, including May Exit 12813 Ready 9800 In this case, is the EU quota not over, can we evaluate the July interview in May negatively, distribution?
May 21, 2023 at 09:09
I don’t understand this word salad “can we evaluate the July interview in May negatively, distribution”.
However, I don’t know why Ankara slowed down in April but they already took two batches of 2NLs in May with far more interviews than May – so I take that as a good, if not perfect, sign.
May 19, 2023 at 23:20
Hi Brits how are you doing today remember me I Barasa
May 19, 2023 at 23:54
Hi simon ,i am from fiji my last 4 digits of case number are 1569.
Ds260 already submitted.. are my chances high or low of getting called for interview ?
May 20, 2023 at 15:30
I don’t know. You have not told me the year, the region and the last four digits tell me nothing.
May 20, 2023 at 04:36
One more question Sir.
Dv 2023 there are 5506 winners from Iran and 2724 from afganisthan. But the embassies are not processing anything right?so where do they do the interviews?
May 20, 2023 at 15:32
They are able to interview in neighboring/convenient embassies.
May 22, 2023 at 21:27
Thank you very much sir.
Can you kindly support on the below questions as well?
1.what if my F1 visa gets accepted?then what happens to my dv process?(2023 winner)lets say I get current and do I receive 2NL as normal people or my process is different?
2.can I wait till my number becomes current to collect documents from sponsor?is that time is gonna be enough or do I have to get started with it now even though I might never become current.
May 22, 2023 at 21:38
1. You have to decide how to process the DV case – AOS or consular processing. AOS is a different process.
2. That is OK.
May 23, 2023 at 01:39
Thank you!!
1.Can I decide that?if I stay in my current country I have to go through consular and other wise AOS?is that it?
2.what’s the fastest process since my embassy is CLM
May 23, 2023 at 07:43
1. AOS is an option if you reside in the USA – and a person who resides in the USA can choose AOS or CP. Otherwise, if you do not reside in the USA, you process at a consulate.
2. Not a simple answer – there are pros and cons of each.
May 23, 2023 at 08:30
I’m sorry have been asking many questions.but can you let me know where I can find about these processes so that I can get an idea about the pros and cons?that way I’ll be able to try my best to get the GC!thanks a lot for all your information!!
May 23, 2023 at 13:17
Read this.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2024-aos-adjustment-of-status-process-only.346971
May 24, 2023 at 05:39
Thank you very much!! According to this, if my number becomes current and my embassy get rid of the backlog I will be considered as a normal winner if I go through CP ? No delay will be added due to my F1 visa right?
Thanks a lot sir!!
May 25, 2023 at 09:08
I don’t have a crystal ball – but I don’t see any reason that a delay would be caused.
May 22, 2023 at 21:35
Thank you very much sir.
Can you support on the below mentioned questions as well?
1.if my F1 visa gets approved what happens to my dv process?do I get 2NL like normal winners (not current yet)or my process is gonna be different?
2. My number is not current yet (and I know it might never be AS22*** )can I gather my sponsor documents after becoming current or do I have to get it done by now?
May 20, 2023 at 06:00
Hi Simon
I have a wrong date of birth on my secondary school certificate. Unfortunately, I have no earlier document to dispute that. My birth certificate, bachelors’ certificate, passport and other supporting documents bearing my prove of birth comes later than that of the secondary school certificate. However, my job experience qualifies me for the process.
I am from Ghana and hoping for an interview.
1. can this be used to deny me a visa?
2. What do you suggest I do to prevent the denial?
Thank you.
May 20, 2023 at 15:33
1. Typically it would not be a concern. Your DOB is proven by your birth certificate.
2. Think how you can prove the education certificate is “yours”.
May 20, 2023 at 07:21
Hi Brit as a follow up to the advise you gave me on using other neighbouring country (West Africa) for my interview than Ghana because of what’s currently happening, I’ve gotten in touch with a close friend and he’s willing to support me in terms of giving me his address so that I use same in filing the DS form (present address section). Some concerns he however laid onboard was that;
What would be the best/ideal response to give to the visa officer in that country if he/she asks;
1. Why I chose that location (country) for my interview rather than Ghana?
2. How long have I stayed in that address (that of my close friend’s) because I’ve had my education and currently, I am even working in Ghana?
3. I’ve never being to country before so why even use my friend’s address as my current address knowing very well that I live in Ghana?
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you..
May 20, 2023 at 15:35
1. Honesty.
2. I can’t give you a definitive answer – it varies by CO and their “judgement”.
3. You don’t tell me much about the circumstances or case number – but I assume you would be in that country for some period of time.
May 20, 2023 at 18:59
Hi Brit, so my case is around AF14k threshold. My circumstance is based on the fact that the Ghana embassy is not prioritizing DV interviews hence it’s moving slower than that country. I intend moving to the country i.e if the interview appointment is almost due, let’s say a week or two. What do you advise?
May 20, 2023 at 22:21
I think I have explained what I can, and it is still hard to answer you as you don’t give me full info (such as year).
May 20, 2023 at 22:33
Sorry. My year is 2024
May 20, 2023 at 09:16
Halo Brit, i made a mistake on the place of employement. Should i unlock to correct it orr its minor?
May 20, 2023 at 10:43
name of the place where i work currently
May 20, 2023 at 15:35
No need to unlock – it is minor.
May 20, 2023 at 09:32
Hey Brit, do you know how well Islamabad is doing? for a 202413130 winner, do that stats look better there than for Ankara? Thank you!
May 20, 2023 at 15:36
Islamabad is not doing great.
May 20, 2023 at 10:35
Hi Brit
I just completed my interviews and medicals for DV2023. All went well at the JHB consulate and medical center. I received an email requesting the father of my youngest to sign and submit a consent letter and ID. During interview they did not tell me how to submit
My Q is: Do I submit the consent docs as pdf’s via email or courier the originals to the embassy? (the email received didnt state)
May 20, 2023 at 15:37
Send by email and ask them in that email if they need originals to be sent.
May 21, 2023 at 10:17
Thank you
May 20, 2023 at 11:12
Hello Simon,
I have selected YES in the DS-260 to allow Social Security Administration to issue a number and a card.
1. Can I trust this will automatically happen when I will enter US for the first time or it is better to complete the request form online and personally visit an SSA office? I need a SSN asap to move my work contract from Montreal to US but I don’t want to create a mess/confusion by making another request online.
I updated my US address during the medical exam however, I failed to do that during the interview( the CO did not ask and I assumed that if I provided it during the medical exam, they already have it updated). I know my last chance to update it is at the POE and I will make sure this is the first thing I do when I start speaking to the immigration officer.
2. Since I requested in the DS-260 to be issued a SSN, will USCIS inform the Social Security Administration about my new address that I will provide at POE?
May 20, 2023 at 15:39
1. In most cases the SSN is produced and sent when that option is selected. But if you don’t receive the SSN by three weeks, then you go to the SSA office and apply direct.
2. The address you update to at the POE should be sent to the SSA.
May 21, 2023 at 12:06
Please sir, during the time I was filling the ds260, I made a mistake concerning the year of birth(1993 instead of 1992). I contacted Kcc to request for change unfortunately, my case is current and waiting for interview scheduling and the passport l used to fill my ds260 is missing. Please Sir, what am I supposed to do now??
Thank you
May 21, 2023 at 16:42
Well you have no choice but to fix that at the interview.
May 20, 2023 at 11:23
I want to ask a question does it matter when i apply for green card like in the beigning of october or later and what hour do you have bigger chance to win at the begining or at the end what time i apply
May 20, 2023 at 15:40
The entry is completely random. It does not matter when you apply.
May 20, 2023 at 12:43
I requested an unlock of my DS-260 form to make a correction (update).
I still do not have a response.
1. My question is, when I unlock the DS-260, does it slow down the whole review process, and when I update it, does it queue up again to be reviewed by the КСС or is it processed faster?
I mean, my case number is 50** and I should be at the interview already in October. In this regard, I am worried whether I will receive 2NL before October.
2. How long before the interview and medical examinations does the КСC usually send the 2NL?
May 20, 2023 at 15:45
1. The first date of submission determines the order of opening. Unlocking doesn’t affect that. However not all cases are processed in the same amount of time – some cases take long. If your case is fully processed and then you make a change, the change might cause some additional processing depending on what changes you make – for example, if you add a spouse, that spouse might need some additional background checks.
Your chance of receiving an October interview depends mostly on how fast you submitted and how long it needs for processing. Not all cases submitted on the first available date can be processed in time.
2. 6 to 8 weeks.
May 20, 2023 at 16:05
Thank you, Simon.
Fortunately, I won’t be making any major adjustments. I just need to add my middle name and last name in native alphabet. I don’t know why I entered only my first name in the column.
May 20, 2023 at 14:10
Hello Simon
I live in the US and i just submitted EB2 NWI and waiting for decision for the i-140. Simultaneously i won this DV lottery and my number is AF20xxx. Can i go continue on both of them and adjust my status bass on the DV lottery and if i got i-140 approved Does this impact the DV lottery
May 20, 2023 at 15:52
You can process both applications at the same time without problem.
May 20, 2023 at 14:22
Hello
My CN is 2023AF304xx.
I’m from Egypt but living in Kuwait from 6 years.
I have received interview date in Kuwait embassy by end of July.
Unfortunately my work finished and I have to leave Kuwait finally by end of May.
What should I do now ?
Should I send to Cairo embassy ask to transfer my case and no need to update DS260 now ?!
Also I want to know the procedure after that, I mean how they put my CN in the queue.
May 20, 2023 at 15:53
If I were you I would do the medical before leaving in May, then fly back to Kuwait for the interview (allowing a week or two after the interview for return of the passport).
May 20, 2023 at 15:15
Hey Simon hope your doing well, I was hoping whether I can apply for EBT regardless of my I-134
May 20, 2023 at 15:57
I don’t know whether that could be used against you in a citizenship process, so I would suggest you do not take that assistance.
May 20, 2023 at 16:18
Hi sorry if this appears as a repeat question, it disappeared after I submitted it the first time….
If my address changes after I arrive in the USA but before I receive the SSN and/or green card, is there a way to update to the new address?
May 20, 2023 at 22:10
No. Although there is an online form where you must inform USCIS of your change of address, that will not change where the SSN and GC are delivered.
May 20, 2023 at 17:03
Hello Simon. In 2014, I got a 1-year resident visa in Dubai, so, there is a sticker of a resident in my passport. However; I didn’t use that visa and never lived in Dubai more than few weeks. Do I need to bring police certificate from Dubai for my DV interview?
May 20, 2023 at 22:13
Not if you didn’t live there.
May 20, 2023 at 17:36
Do you know how is embassy in Bucharest Romania doing?
May 20, 2023 at 22:13
You can check here:
https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY23.html
May 20, 2023 at 17:56
In the ds-260 exemplar there is a petitioner information section which should be Displayed for all applicants but I don’t see it. Is it something to worry about? I tripple checked and it is a ds-260 form, if it’s relevant I am the only applicant on my case.
May 20, 2023 at 22:15
DV cases have no petitioner.
May 20, 2023 at 18:03
Hello Brit,
Thanks for the live sessions.
I won DV lottery last year but i was already in the USA. I have submitted my Adjustment of Status application and received my receipt notice.
Could be in the know how long it is taking people in similar situation and do they get to do interviews or they are waived?
May 20, 2023 at 22:16
You can check timelines for other cases here:

Hi Mr. Simon, I’m a DV 2023 selectee from South America. I’ve been living in the United Kingdom close to 5 years and so will have the interview in the UK. Where can I get a UK police certificate?
Also, will all the documents (police certificate, birth certificate) from my South American home country and their translation from Spanish to English need to be apostilled?
Thanks for your help
May 20, 2023 at 22:19
You need to read the instructions which should include the reciprocity pages. BOTH your questions would have been answered by reading those instructions – so my recommendation is to do that (teaching you to fish).
May 20, 2023 at 21:13
Hi Brit, Thank You so much for your help.
I hope you will be able to help me.
On 2018 I made the activation to the GC after I got the immigrant visa.
I stayed in America around 4 months and then I back to my country for 5 months. After 5 months I back to America and stayed 1 Year.
After 1 Year I back to my country for 4 months. After 4 months I back to America for 2 weeks and then I back to my country for 5.5 months and then I back to America. When I landed, The immigration officer told me that if I will not stay in America, they are will take my GC so I stayed for 1 year and 3 months and back to my country for 5.5 months and back to America, now I’m already here 4 months (now it’s 4 years and 9 months since I made the activation, I never been out of the states more than 6 months, but there was a year that I’m almost didn’t been in the states – only 2 weeks).
Do you think that I can apply now for Citizenship?
Thank You again!
May 20, 2023 at 22:23
I don’t know. There are some sites that help calculate your time here and apply the rule, but I don’t do that.
May 21, 2023 at 17:29
Thank you for reply. I’m actually already have been 2.5 years staying in USA since I made the activation, but I’m just a little bit scared because 1 year of the 5 I’m almost didn’t been in America. I have been only around 2 week in that year (but I never been out of the country more than 6 months).
May 21, 2023 at 00:25
Hello Brit,
My interview is on July. My sponsor has not file his tax for 2022 yest and he has filed a tax extension for that which he plans to file his 2022 return on this October.
Is that ok if he email his 2021 IRS to the embassy or does he need to send his IRS 2022?
TIA
May 21, 2023 at 08:38
OK, so you write that as 2024AF14XXX. That is a low number which means you could be interviewed fairly early, depending on when your DS260 is submitted. If I were you I would move to the third country immediately so you could submit the DS260 with that address.
May 21, 2023 at 22:25
Brit, I think you have mixed up my question with someone else. This is my original question.
I am a 2023 winner. My interview is on this July. My sponsor has not file his tax returns for 2022 yet and he has filed a tax extension for that which he plans to file his 2022 full returns on this October.
Is that ok if he email his 2021 IRS to the embassy(Colomobo- CMB) or does he need to send his IRS 2022 instead?
TIA
May 21, 2023 at 23:11
He might be able to use a W2 from 2022 tax year if he is an employee.
May 22, 2023 at 04:50
Thanks. I will check with him. Does he needs to submit 1040 as well along with W2?
May 22, 2023 at 18:15
A 1040 is what he doesn’t have.
May 21, 2023 at 00:39
If the name of the high school or vocational school I graduated from has changed, how should I fill in DS260?
May 21, 2023 at 08:38
New name (old name)
May 21, 2023 at 00:55
I’m a DV-2024 lottery winner from Russia. My case number is 2024EU00027XXX. Because Russian nationals curently considered “homeless” nation they are assigned to take interview in Warsaw, Poland by default. I did not apply my DS-260 form yet. Since I applied for lottery in November 2022 I moved to Thailand. Currently I live in Thailand as a language school student, and I’m planning to extend my course and my Thai Student-visa (NON-ED) to November 2024. So I will live in Thailand for the most of upcoming year. Could I choose US Embassy in Bangkok as a place where I want to take interview in my DS-260 form and will US Embassy in Bangkok be able to proceed my case?
May 21, 2023 at 08:40
Yes, you will give your current address and pick Bangkok. That will be totally normal (just like any other case where someone lives away from their home country).
May 21, 2023 at 08:43
To be clear – it is not “Russian nationals” who are considered homeless, it is anyone who would normally have been assigned to Moscow embassy. The assignment is based on where the person lives. So a Frenchman who lived in Russia would be assigned to Moscow (therefore reassigned to Poland), whilst a Russian living in France would be assigned to Paris.
May 21, 2023 at 03:38
Hi Simon, I know you are accurate with your data sources and I surprised that you trust the CEAC data in Xharthisius’ website. What is the source of it? How ca it be reliable? It contains private information such us number of derivatives per case and I doubt this info is public. Thank you
May 21, 2023 at 09:14
Your doubt is wrong. It is public data and it is totally trustworthy. The source is the official government status check:
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
You can only check one case at a time in that site, but Xarthisius and others developed programs to automatically check one case at a time, record the output and check the next case. Prior to Xarthisius I was involved in extracting that data since 2014, and in fact the data that Xarthisius shows for the older years is from my data files.
May 21, 2023 at 05:50
Good day, please i was selected for the dv2023 , the email for the visa appiontment at the embacy was sent but i missed it.
Can anuthing be done ?
May 21, 2023 at 09:15
You can check the ESC page to get the appointment information. If the date has passed you can contact the embassy and see if they will reschedule.
May 21, 2023 at 06:47
Hello
I am a Sudanese citizen and a winner of dv lottery 2024, I did apply without a passport. Now because of the current War (conflict) situation in my country I am certain in the near future I can’t get access to obtain a new passport.
my spouse is a Chadian citizen but I did charge to his country because my birth country is eligible. Now I want to process my ds 260 so Mr Brit, what can I do? I learned I can submit with other Travelling documents as an option but what if the interview date arrives but I couldn’t hold a passport?
May 21, 2023 at 09:20
You will need to work on this as soon as possible. You might be able to get a passport through a Sudan embassy in another country.
May 21, 2023 at 07:19
Hello Sir!
Are you aware of when they are going to start processing DS260 form in the DV 2024 lottery, to later get scheduled for an interview.
Thank you very much!
May 21, 2023 at 09:21
They have started.
May 21, 2023 at 08:15
Dear Brit, i added my university degree to the ds 260 form but not my school. there was asked highest degree so it confused me. do you think i should write to kcc for unlock and add school diploma too or can i bring it to the interview later if i will be invited?
May 21, 2023 at 09:21
I would unlock if the case number is not very low.
May 21, 2023 at 10:22
Hi Simon!
My number is low but I requested an unlock.
I hope there is no problem with that and I don’t get disqualified.
I still have no answer from KCC.
May 21, 2023 at 10:19
Hello Simon,
Thanx for every information you provided.
If one submitted theDV form from Nepal and he now is in UK for further studies (MSC). So what are the complications for this situation? The current address and the address for the embassy for interview? Could you please make it clear.
May 21, 2023 at 10:28
So you have not been clear. Did the person update the address to the UK address? Does the person want to be interviewed in the UK or Nepal. Could YOU please make it clear!
May 22, 2023 at 07:05
He hasn’t submitted the DS260. As he is in UK and currently studying, he first want to be clear before submitting the DS260 form. He wants to be interviewed in UK as he is currently studying, is it possible to do so?
May 22, 2023 at 18:20
The DS260 can take months to process, so he should not wait. Yes he can interview in the UK.
May 21, 2023 at 10:36
Hi Simon!
My number is low but I requested an unlock.
I hope there is no problem with that and I don’t get disqualified.
I still have no answer from KCC
May 21, 2023 at 16:41
No problem
May 21, 2023 at 12:31
Hi Simon,
I have been selected for the dv2024 eu39xxx, I have not yet sent the ds260, because I have to get married at the end of June, I think I will send it between July and August. However, I would like to know if I can travel to the USA with a tourist visa during my honeymoon or risk being disqualified.
Thank you, you are always very kind
May 21, 2023 at 16:43
That travel would not disqualify you.
May 21, 2023 at 13:18
hi Brit, my case number is 2024EU29XXX
I am deciding whether to do cp or aos depending on situation in near future and I had 2 questions:
1) How critical is the timing of DS260? I see majority in my home country already filled the form from group chats. If I submit it in August for example, is it going to delay my interview by few weeks/months?
2) If I switch from CP to AOS in December for example, is it going to delay my case as well?
thank you!
May 21, 2023 at 16:45
1. For CP, it is best to file early – but if you are doing AOS you do NOT want to file the DS260 early (or even at all).
2. If you switch to AOS – then the delay in the DS260 is unimportant. But make up your mind about CP or AOS.
May 21, 2023 at 17:43
thank you! Some1mom encourages to submit DS260 in the AOS FAQ spreadsheet.. could you please explain why you do not recommend it? Or do you have a video/blog about it that I can go to?
May 21, 2023 at 23:14
She and I agree that the DS260 might speed up processing at a later stage but there is no need to file early. It is actually not required for AOS.
May 21, 2023 at 13:42
Hi Simon, huge fan, thanks for what you’ve been doing for years.
A couple questions:
1. in List the languages that you speak and/or read, how much detail are they looking for? Let’s say I speak English at a professional level, french not at all but had like 8 years of it in school and chinese at a “can read newspaper” level and my native language, do I put a whole paragraph on how well I speak them or just put english, my native language and chinese?
2. is other social media section optional? Let’s say I use tik tok but don’t post anything. Do I have to add it in the other media? What about wechat?
3. if I go for a two week vacation to a new country is it big enough to warrant unlocking ds-260 to add it?
4. in work history “describe the type of work you are doing” do I approach it as if it was a resume and write the projects that I finished or more like day to day?
thank you!
May 21, 2023 at 22:32
1. No need to overthink this.
2. If in doubt, list them.
3. No. If you unlock for another reason you can add it then.
4. Just job titles. They are not looking for lots of detail.

Hi, i would like to have some guidance regarding the éducation level for the DV Lottery. I have completed 12 years as requested but I failed. Do I still qualify to apply or not? This is nowhere stipulated that we have to pass all subject
May 21, 2023 at 22:33
If you did not pass the subjects, then you probably don’t meet the education requirement. The level needed is the level at which you can enter a US college (university).

HI Brit Simon
I am from Srilanka and AS4K, submitted late in Nov 2022 and processed by jan 2023. Assigned to CLM embassy. I see that CLM has sent 64 2NLs this time in May but I was not lucky enough. Checking DV2022 process it seems CLM sent the last major batch of 2NL in June 2022 around 100. And its now sent 2NLs till just above 15500. What are your observations on CLM? Do you think they would send another batch in May or send a higher batch in June? Still only 329 2NLs sent from 2019 winners from Sri Lanka.
As always thanks for your time and insight.

I cannot predict what they will do in the remaining months.

Hi Brit Simon.
I’m DV lottery winner of 2024 (Azerbaijan, interview in Tblisi) my case number is 2024EU0015xxx. I added my high school name not same with the diploma.(Diploma: Ganja city, no 30 secondary school
On DS form: Vugar. Veysalov school no 30.(in the location box I added Ganja)
Also course of study should be: academic and I added: high school. Should I unlock my DS form now if yes is it will make my case number higher?
Please advise.
May 22, 2023 at 18:18
You can unlock if you wish, but I don’t think you need to. Unlocking does not make your number higher or delay your case.
May 22, 2023 at 07:48
Hi Brit, do you think you can advice about this? We got our 2NL for interview in July, the DV selectee is my spouse. I myself have a pending refugee application (P1 for Afghans), basically awaiting for the final clearance. Do you see any issues proceeding with the DV? Any conflict? I am not sure how one has an impact on the other.
May 22, 2023 at 18:20
No conflict.

Hi Simon,
i’m Ishan from Sri lanka. i won the 2024 Dv Diversity program and started DS 260 application on 10.05.2023 (completed halfway) and came Dubai yesterday(21.05.2023). from yesterday on i tried to sign in to ds260 but its say Case Number entered is currently unavailable. what would be the issue here?
May 22, 2023 at 18:21
You are probably not entering the correct information to access the DS260. Don’t try over and over again – you will block the form.
May 22, 2023 at 23:52
i entered the same information. what should i do if they block me?
May 23, 2023 at 07:40
You would then have to go through a process of contacting KCC, who would setup an appointment at your embassy to prove your identity and provide a code to unblock the form. That would take months. So please believe me when I tell you that I have heard this same thing hundreds of times where people ARE NOT entering the information correctly – even when they are certain they are.

Hello Simon, I came to US on B1/B2 visa many years ago, than changed the status to F1 while in USA. After graduating, my status changed to H1B (got approved I-797A). I never left the country to get the F1 or H1B VISA. So i dont have a visa number for F1 or H1B. In DS-260, there is a question on “Have you ever issued a Visa?”, should i write the B1/B2 visa i received or the H1b status change (with no visa number, since i never left the country to get the visa)

H1B

Hello Simon,
My case is going to be handled by USCIS- Texas. I have lived in US (currently), India, Canada and Fiji. Do i need Police Clearance from all the countries i have lived? I read somewhere on the net, that if I live in US and my case is going to be handled by USCIS, I don’t need Police Clearance Certificates
May 22, 2023 at 18:22
What you read was correct, no police certs for AOS – but read the instructions!

Hi Simon.
I have question about consulates. I am Australian but will be in Vancouver BC and hoping to file Consular processing in Canada. At the beginning of filling out DS260 it has you select which consulate you want to interview at. It lists Vancouver Canada as an option to select. But when I look on the dvcharts CEAC Data for Embassies. It only lists Montreal, Canada as having data. Does this mean Vancouver does not perform DV lottery interviews? How can I find out which consulates perform interviews?
Also are there any risks filing to interview in a country where I will just be on visitor status? My wife is Canadian but I don’t have my permanent residency yet.
Thanks!
May 22, 2023 at 18:24
You will be assigned to Montreal. No problems.

Hi Simon, thanks for the good work.
I’m a 2024AF selectee from Ghana qualifying with work experience.
1. What other documents would you advise besides an appointment letter and bank statements showing salaries received for portions of the period?
2. My case number is in the 16xxx region, my passport is not yet ready to fill ds-260. How does a July submission of ds-260 affect my chances of getting an interview date in Accra?
3. Which neighboring country would you suggest for a Ghanaian to choose to improve their chances of getting an interview date if any?
May 22, 2023 at 21:36
1. Resume and perhaps any professional training records.
2. If they work on DV2024 the same way they have worked on DV2023, that delay could be serious.
3. That depends more on which country you could move to, or have existing ties to.
May 22, 2023 at 20:23
I petitioned for my father to migrate to the US. He was later granted a visitor’s visa and he is now in the US. Petition status on the USCIS web page says the decision will be made in approximately 5 months.
Does he absolutely has to travel back home for the visa interview or can he be interviewed here in the US?
May 22, 2023 at 21:36
O only answer DV lottery questions.
May 23, 2023 at 00:27
Hi Simon!
Do have any Intel if they will bring back the passport requirement for DV2025 entry
May 23, 2023 at 07:40
No

Hi Simon,
I am the DV 2023 winner from Iran. I noticed that I have selected a wrong place for interview in my DS-260 form. It should be Ankara but since there was also an option to choose Istanbul, I had chosen Istanbul instead. How can I fix it and change it to Ankara?
I will appreciate your prompt reply.
May 23, 2023 at 07:40
They will pick the embassy for you based on your address.
May 23, 2023 at 03:25
Hi dear Simon, I am a winner DV2023
if I haven’t received an invitation yet, is there any point in sending an email to the embassy? In mean why haven’t invited yet
May 23, 2023 at 03:25
I mean KCC, sorry
May 23, 2023 at 07:44
If you have not received a 2NL, the embassy has no information about you. So it is pointless emailing them.
You might be delayed because your embassy is restricting appointments.

Hi Brit,
I have just resubmitted my DS-260 form.
When I check my answers, It shows that even I answered NO to question – Have you ever applied for a Social Security number, it asks for Social Security Number. Can It be a technical bug? Because I have the SSN and I indicated it before.
May 23, 2023 at 07:47
You indicated you had an SSN previously – so the form expects you to list the SSN.
May 24, 2023 at 00:59
Do you think that it is a serious mistake?
May 25, 2023 at 09:04
No
