i am a lottary winner of 2024 with case number 45k AF also i have b1/b2 visa i just wanna your recommendation if it’s better for me to wait the interview here in egypt or should i travel to the US to change my situation from b1/b2 to green card and is that possible or not and thank you
June 5, 2024 at 10:15
It is possible, but it is a more complex process and you must be able to wait in the USA without working for some months.

Hi Brit,
Egypt 50K
I changed my interview location to Nepal a while back, but seeing that Nepal didn’t assign interview for Africa for the last 3 months worrying me (as my number could be current on Aug. or Sep.).
1- Do you think it is useful to email that embassy, and ask directly if they plan on assigning cases to Africa? Or it doesn’t work like that? (I know I am desperate here haha )
2- Is Malasysia better? Although it didn’t assign cases last month.
Thanks
June 5, 2024 at 10:14
1. Pointless. They don’t choose the cases, KCC does, and the cases are chosen on a strict order (AV queue). Just wait.
2. No
June 5, 2024 at 05:23
Hi Brit,
I wrote to KCC quoting the new guidelines. I am Kenyan, transferred, my case to Dar earlier and now was trying to transfer it back to Nairobi.
I was denied.2024 AF 50K.

Hello Mr. Simon
I am filling out the DS and would like to know if I should also request the SSN for my minor children (10 and 8 years old).
Thank you in advance
June 5, 2024 at 10:12
Yes
June 5, 2024 at 04:09
Hi Simon.Ive just received a refusal 221g. They asked me to send in the birth notification of my son even after I showed them his birth certificate I fail to understand why they asked for it evwn after seeing the original birh certificate.
June 5, 2024 at 10:11
I don’t know.
June 5, 2024 at 03:40
Hi Brit,
I have one major concern. Got selected as part of the DV2025 program and I already submitted the DS-260. However, in the very same moment I did the submission, I recalled my travel history is not accurate and that I am missing 3 more countries to add. Following your guide, I emailed KCC right away and informed them I need my form unlocked so I can update the travel history.
However, there are three main things I might need to change in the form.
1. Update my travel history
2. Include my history of education since I was 12 years old (I included high school only)
3. I need your advice here please since I am not sure what to do. In addition to my existing employment which I included in the form, under “other employment” I included the company I own, where I am not employed, I just own it. Have included explanation about this in the bar. However, I am in process of selling that company anytime soon, meaning the DS-260 might indicate that I own the company, but let’s assume I get called for interview next year – I won’t own the company any longer. So, what do you advise me to do:
a) Remove the “other occupation” from the form, since it’s not employment, rather ownership of company, and I am selling it before the interview for sure.
b) Leave the ownership in the form as it is, and if I sell the company in meantime, in the interview I just take with me some kind of document that the company is transferred to another person.
c) maybe you advise me something else to do.
Also, do you think all these three changes might impact the decision of DS-260 to proceed further?! I personally don’t think so, since as you mentioned in one of your videos, some people do multiple requests for getting their profile unlocked.
Thanks in advance and I would be more than happy to hear your feedback.
June 5, 2024 at 10:11
No need to overthink this. You report the circumstances at the time of the submission (or resubmission). They don’t need to blow by blow history of your life decisions about a business you own.
June 5, 2024 at 01:54
Hi Sir
If your interview is completed and after that you noticed some errors on form like employment date which should be Feb but written Jan and one dates for your addresses from age 16 years.
And you missed to list down 1 employment which you only did for 1 month.
How to correct after interview.
June 5, 2024 at 10:05
No need to correct that.
June 5, 2024 at 00:45
Hey BritSimon,
I have university degree and I am working fulltime in my current job. in the DS260 form they ask if this job needs at least 2 years of work experience. Should I put no or yes there? I am bit confused, since I got my job due to my bachelor degree and not work experience. What is this question about, can you help ? thank you
June 5, 2024 at 10:04
It is not an important question. Answer with your judgement.
June 4, 2024 at 21:42
Hello Simon,
I can’t locate my high school certificate and it’s a hassle to replace it. Can I use my work experience in place of it? I am a physician and I’ve completed my US medical licensing exams. I have a total of 8 years of work experience as a physician, clinical instructor, and graduate teaching assistant. I’m also an F1 visa holder doing my PhD at a US university.
June 4, 2024 at 23:48
Yes. Show what education documents you have also.
June 4, 2024 at 20:34
Hi Brit, My cn is AS202416XXX from Sri Lanka. Is there any chance for us to go current in the coming vb?
June 4, 2024 at 23:48
Maybe
June 4, 2024 at 18:48
Hi Simon,
I will be making the move to the US soon. I have received my permanent residence/DV in my passport, paid the USCIS fee and have my yellow envelope in tact etc
This may sound like a silly question, but do I need to apply for an ESTA as well?
Also, what is the order of things upon arrival (in my case LAX). Do you retrieve your luggage first before speaking/being checked by a consular/officer at the airport?
Any vital information in regard to this process will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

It is not certain. You can only wait and see.
June 5, 2024 at 05:08
Si tu veux essayer avec la nouvelle mesure. Tu peux aller à Freetown informer l’ambassade de ta présence là-bas et voir ce que ça va donné
June 4, 2024 at 17:22
Hi Sir
I attended my interview last year and application was placed for administrative processing.
Now I am completing the interview this month.
I made some mistakes with dates regarding places I lived from age 16. I have been rented out many places in same city with no enough documents to verify dates.
For one location I wrote May 2016 I started living there but it should be December 2015.
Since my interview is completed last time – Can I correct this on my 2nd interview this month. I didn’t correct it in my 1st interview was I was not aware since I didn’t had any records when I actually moved it.
Will this be an issue if I correct it now.
June 4, 2024 at 18:05
Don’t raise it unless they bring it up.
June 4, 2024 at 15:09
Hello, Simon! if you can answer my questions about ds-260, I will be grateful.
Question about derivatives education:
1. Is it needed in ds-260 for the main apolicant’s son (graduated from highschool) to list every school he was studying in? Or list every school since secondary school (also not clear, since 6th or since 9th grade?)
2. Another derivative is getting homeschooled as a teenager but doesn’t have any certificates, what to do in this case?
Another question:
3.I guess, my question can be almost solved by explaining to me a definition of a word “resident” used in the ds-260 form.
4.What if you were a resident in some country, and you sent your ds-260, but you leave that country almost immediatly after sending the form, losing your working visa and work permit after some time, then coming back in that country to get interviewed?
So, is there a problem you dont have that “level” of being a resident, at the moment of the interview, being just returened to that country and only getting tourist visa there, prior to the interview?
5. If it’s a problem, will the problem be solved by just getting not a tourist visa, but a dependant visa derived from spouse, who still holds working visa?
Thank you in advance, your content helped me very much so far!
June 4, 2024 at 17:20
1. No just the principal.
2. Not important.
3. I don’t understand the context.
4. What about it?
5. Under the new policy, a tourist visa should be OK.
June 4, 2024 at 14:48
Hi Mr Simon,
After i completed ds-260 form for all family member, all i need to do is just waiting?
And my case number is 2025EU297XX, i have a chance to the interview?
June 4, 2024 at 17:18
Just wait for now. Nothing else to do until the 2NL is sent (about a year from now).
You probably have a chance, but we will know better in July/August.
June 5, 2024 at 00:39
and in October when the dv lottery opens, should I register again? Thanks you Mr.Simon
June 5, 2024 at 10:03
There is no harm in doing that.
June 4, 2024 at 14:02
Hi. mr. Simon
DV2024 CN: EU29.5K
I would like to change the place of the interview from Warsaw (they say there is a backlog) to Dushanbe according to the birth certificate. But I do not know how the procedure will take place. First, do I need to ask kcc to unlock ds260 so that I can change the place of the interview in the questionnaire, or will they automatically change the place without unlocking? please tell me what to do?
I am looking forward to your reply.
Thanks!
June 4, 2024 at 13:39
Hi Simon! A question about personal financial conditions. I am currently a student finishing my master’s degree and I don’t have a job. My parents want to donate me 20-25K euros to help me move to the States, and they will transfer the funds to my bank account. Is this enough and can it be a problem if it is donated money and not personally earned money? I’ve got also some cash savings and some personal inherited valuable goods as watches and jewelry (about 30-35K euros). Should I sell it and transfer it that to my bank account or is my parents donation ok? I’m single, no derivatives. Thank you!
June 4, 2024 at 12:59
Hello Simon,
My case number is 2024EU23***, and we are expecting an invitation to the embassy in Warsaw. Our case number is already in the July bulletin (but the status of the application is still NVC).
We found a typo in the DS-260 form, in the section of previous residences (one of many), where we wrote “ZwierGyniecka” instead of “ZwierZyniecka” in the street name. We have a rental agreement that confirms the correct spelling. I am not the primary winner but the spouse of the winner.
Should we request the KCC to unlock the form to correct this mistake, or could this negatively affect the prompt scheduling of the interview?
Thank you for your response.
June 4, 2024 at 17:14
Don’t unlock for that, – you will hopefully get a 2NL in June for August interview.
June 4, 2024 at 12:06
Hi Simon, is there a problem with registering appointments at Nairobi embassy? AF54xxx, July interview?
June 4, 2024 at 17:12
Not that I know of.
June 4, 2024 at 11:52
Hi am in Accra and after watching your video want to move to a new embassy preferably NRB can you assist me with the procedures? would be grateful
June 4, 2024 at 17:11
I don’t offer 1 to 1 help. Use the article I have published to move your own case.
June 4, 2024 at 11:07
I’ve read online that only people over 14 years of age have to present in person at the interview. is that true?
June 4, 2024 at 11:40
It varies by embassy.
June 4, 2024 at 12:00
thank youuuu! how do I find out for Frankfurt embassy? 🙂
Would be muuuuch easier 😀
June 4, 2024 at 17:12
Email them.
June 4, 2024 at 10:17
Hey Adam ,
I am answerimg depending on My experience ,
I literally sent KCC an Email for them to open my Ds 260 and they opened it in less than 1 day
And Yes ,you will receive an Email to Inform you on the Email you requested for them to Open ;so no need tl check everytime
Unless you can not easily access your Email.
Also ,I do not think it will delay anything as It will depend on the VISA Bulletin so as when your case number is current ;you can be called for the Interview
And Especially when it is this Early
That is all I know,
All The Best.
June 4, 2024 at 08:57
Hi Simon, I have sechduled my interview in Angola embassy for last of June 2024 dv winner. I am an Eritrean but lives in Angola, Lunda. my question is when they asked about police report do they need police report from Angola only or I have get police report from my home country Eritrea and other countries that I have been before as well. I lived in Angola for more than 2 years so far.
June 4, 2024 at 10:55
Read the instructions, you will probably need multiple police certs.
June 4, 2024 at 08:18
Hey Simon,
I asked KCC to unlock my form twice in the last week.
Now I saw that to the question ‘Number of educational institutions’ I answered 1 (my university degree) because I thought the questions means how many ‘highest levels’ I attended. Of course I attended more than one in my life (including schools etc.)
Is that a mistake to unlock again or can I clear up at interview?
I am DV2025.
Also is it problem to unlock so many times in such a short period? Will that get me into trouble?
I really dont know what to do
June 4, 2024 at 10:51
I would unlock and correct again. But this time you should go through the form correctly and make sure you list education back to age 12, address and work history, social media and so on.
June 4, 2024 at 12:27
Thank you very much for your advice Simon.
I have one more question regarding the educational history:
My highest degree is a University degree. But I have two more degrees/graduations from several high schools before. In my country we have multiple degrees/graduations you can get. When I google them and compare them to the US degrees, both of them would probably be ‘high school degree’ level.
Should I put high school degree/graduation for both of that schools then? Since I have to fill out this field for each school I attended. In the US it probably wont make sense but here we have highly different school system.
Thanks in advance
June 4, 2024 at 17:13
List all the schools attended since age 12
June 4, 2024 at 08:12
Hello BritSimon,
My case no is 32XXX and I’m from Sri Lanka. Do I have a chance in getting 2NL?
June 4, 2024 at 10:50
No year, no region, so the number is meaningless.
June 4, 2024 at 07:05
Hello Simon,
I submitted my DS260 (DV2025 EU)
To the question whether I got all needed vaccinations according to the US law I answered ‘yes’. I checked the list for required vaccs at the doctor’s website I will have my medical examination and I got all of them (2 were actually missing but got these 2 vaccs last week)
Nevertheless I heard you should always say ‘No’ to that question. Is that true? Do I have to change my answer again or will it be okay? I am confused now.
Thank you in advance!!
June 4, 2024 at 10:35
I prefer people answer no, because it makes most sense. BUT answering yes or no makes no difference to the outcome. No need to change your answer.
June 4, 2024 at 06:56
they unlocked mine the next day and emailed me.
all the best
June 4, 2024 at 05:16
Hello Brit,
I hope all is well with you. My name is Barnabas, and I’m from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I had the opportunity to win a DV lottery 2024; my case number is AF2024000453xx.
I would like to know if my case number is high or not, as well as how likely it is that I will receive emails from KCC.
Thank you
June 4, 2024 at 10:28
Addis is very backlogged and is not giving enough interview appointments to reach your case number. If you remain in Addis you will lose your chance. You must move to another country, or you will lose your opportunity.

June 4, 2024 at 04:44
Sorry BritSimon ,
Good day
My Concern is I misspelled the email on the Ds 260.
If I ask them To Unlock
How long will it approximately take?
June 4, 2024 at 10:26
A couple of days.
June 4, 2024 at 04:31
I am hoping to see another big jump either 5k or 6k for Europe so the VB will be 32500-33500, because from 27500 to 32500 there are only 1520 real cases.do you think it’s going to happen? thank you Mr britsimon.
June 4, 2024 at 10:26
Probably.
June 4, 2024 at 04:30
Hi Brit,
I haven’t traveled in the past 5 years, however in the DS260 I wrote all my previous travels since 2003.
During the interview, when they ask for swearing that all information is true, is that considered a lie? Or just a mistake. I have proof of all travels and dates.
Thanks,
June 4, 2024 at 10:25
It’s not a problem. Relax.
June 4, 2024 at 03:35
Hi Simon,
I am getting ready to make my move over to the US with my permanent residence/DV approved in my passport, USCIS fee paid, yellow envelope in tact etc
This will sound silly, but I felt the need to ask anyway – do I need to still complete and submit an ESTA?
Also, what is the general order of things once you arrive in the US (in my case LAX)? Do you usually collect your luggage first, then get checked/interviewed by a consular/officer at the airport? And out of curiosity how long does this take? If there is anything else I need to know in preparation, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you 🙂
June 4, 2024 at 10:24
No ESTA – you have a visa. The ESTA is a “visa waiver”.
You normally go through immigration and then get luggage. Allow a good 2 hours after the plane lands.
Nothing else – it’s going to be a “non event”.
June 5, 2024 at 05:43
Thank you Simon! I really appreciate it 🙂
June 4, 2024 at 02:22
Hi Sir,
I won DV2024 lottery. We have interview this month.
My husband has his residence in progress for another Country but the outcome hasn’t been finalised.
We have intent to move to USA.
Can this be the reason our application could be declined in interview this month.
June 4, 2024 at 10:22
I don’t see why that would even come up in the interview. Don’t answer questions that you are not asked!
June 4, 2024 at 02:06
Hi Simon,
When I was 8 years old I was at the USA for 2 years and then went back to my country and never came back to USA again.I had a social security number and an alien registeration number at that period of time.
Now after 25 years, I got selected in DV2025, CN 51K. Shall I mention my previous social security number and an alien registeration number in the DS-260?
If I mention my previous social security number and an alien registeration number, will this cause Administrative Processing after the interview?
June 4, 2024 at 10:21
Yes you should mention it, and no that won’t cause 221g by itself.
June 4, 2024 at 00:01
Hi simon, I am not planning to fill Ds 260 right now as I am doing the aos. I wanted to know is it too early to pay the visa fee to receive 2NL? Case no 2025AS5XXX. Can I fill out the DS after the fee payment? On that note I am passport is expiring soon and would take 2 months to get renew. What you suggest?
June 4, 2024 at 10:20
No need to pay the fee yet – DV2025 hasn’t even started. Renew the passport now.
June 3, 2024 at 23:07
Hi Brit.,
After successfully been selected, I tried login in at the DS-260 website but I’ve been informed that my information doesn’t match what’s in the system. I’m missing my date of birth. Can u please tell me what to do?
Case Number: 2025AF00052xxx
June 4, 2024 at 10:17
Use the forgot confirmation number link to confirm all your details.

Living in Melbourne, Australia, previously spent 14 years in USA on E3 visas. Had appointment in May at Sydney consulate. Was told at appointment as long as medical came back with no surprises everything looked good. Got medical back the next day and Express mailed it to the Sydney consulate. It’s now 2 weeks later and I received a email scheduling me for a 2nd appointment at Melbourne US Consulate. I asked Sydney Consulate why and what documents to bring. Got generic response that the appointment is correct and I must attend. No other info. Have you heard of people having 2nd appointments? What could it be for?
June 4, 2024 at 10:13
It has happened before, but it is rare. I have no idea why they need it in your case.
June 11, 2024 at 04:47
Thank you. It turned out their system malfunctioned and I needed to do the oath and finger prints again. They were very apologetic. That’s it.
June 11, 2024 at 09:57
Great.
June 3, 2024 at 22:47
Hi Brit I am 2024af55k have been scheduled for interview already. We are family of 7 and only 5 of us will be going for the interview hoping to file for the other two in the family category later if we are granted the visas. My question is this
Will leaving the two behind (for financial reasons) cause any problems ?
June 4, 2024 at 10:12
No
June 3, 2024 at 22:32
Hello Simon.
2025DV13561
First thank you for your assistance, after reading your reply for my last question, I just email the kcc to unlock my ds.
1. How long they can take to unlock it
2. will I receive an email telling me that it is unlocked or i have to check every time
3. This situation can make any delay or since we are in June there will be no problem.
Merci beaucoup
June 4, 2024 at 10:12
1. A few days
2. Yes they send an email
3. No problem because unlocking does not cause delay.
June 4, 2024 at 10:31
Thank you.
I already received the mail, they have unlocked after 10 hours only
June 3, 2024 at 17:56
Hi Brit
The new fam policy I think just applies to some embassies when you email them and they ask you to use the navigator so please what will I tell them when I get there with my forms all in my hand at the desk of the embassy I will go
June 3, 2024 at 22:15
Show the new policy and use you judgement about how to handle the conversation. Have a written explanation on hand so that you can leave that with them if they won’t discuss the details with you.
June 3, 2024 at 17:42
Hello sir I am a Dv 2024 winner from Ghana with case number of AF36274, In January i transferred my interview location from Ghana to Togo and i had my 2nl on 15th of February and my appointment was on April 25 but before my appointment I applied for permit of residence in Togo that’s February 23. On 25th April i went for the interview in Lomé,Togo embassy but i was not allowed to do the interview due to my permit of residence was not ready and they said when residence card is issue out i should let them know through their email so that can reschedule my appointment again. This is the problem when i went to the residence permit office they said Ghana is part of ECOWAS so i don’t need a apply for permit of residence all i need is a permit of entry and am having a stamped in my passport so looking at the FAM POLICY i want to write to the Lomé,Togo embassy to reschedule my appointment again since i can present myself on the day of my interview and also wait print my visa because time is running please is advisable thank you 🙏🏽.
June 3, 2024 at 22:11
Yes, contact them with proof of the new policy and show them you are physically present, or can be.
June 3, 2024 at 17:20
Hi, mr. Simon!
DV2024. CN EU 29.4k.
I applied for a green card from Tajikistan, but at the moment I am studying in Russia and, accordingly, the Warsaw consulate was automatically selected. Recently it has been said that Warsaw has a backlog and I am afraid that they will not send me 2nl, there are still problems with obtaining a Polish visa. What would you recommend to transfer my case to the Dushanbe consulate (although I am not aware there is a backlog there) in accordance with the birth?
June 3, 2024 at 22:13
You know the problems, you can decide what works best for your situation.
June 3, 2024 at 13:54
Dear Brit:
Good afternoon. Got a question, what documents are recommended to prove that we will no be public charge. Do we need a print screen of our bank account with the money? O a bank certificate. Also, for how long do u think I should have that money on my bank account. And if I have 15K per person, would you recommend to get an I-134 also?
Thanks
June 3, 2024 at 15:21
It varies case to case.
But ideally, bank statements with 15K per person, held for at least a couple of months would be great and that would normally avoid being asked for an I-134
June 4, 2024 at 06:44
Thanks Brit, and this money should be on the main applicant? Or can it be distributed between the applicant and derivatives?
June 4, 2024 at 10:31
Normally the main applicant or spouse.
June 3, 2024 at 12:45
Hi Simon,
2025AF135xx here, I filled my ds but I made mistake and mension only one of the two high school I have attended, I just mension the last where I got my high school degree which was from 2016 to 2018. My highest education is bachelor degree.
Do I have to unlock and update the Ds or there is no problem since I add the university correctly. Thank you for your help.
June 3, 2024 at 12:56
Personally, I would unlock and add all the education since age 12.
June 3, 2024 at 11:53
Ok…thanks but please can you guide me how to do the transfer

June 3, 2024 at 11:49
Hello, Simon.
Should I list my friend’s Vermont address on the DS260 form, and if I get the visa, I will stay in New York City? Will there be an issue?
June 3, 2024 at 12:54
No problem. The GC can be sent to Vermont and you can stay wherever you want.
June 3, 2024 at 11:45
Hello Simon.
Sorry for asking again, I will compete 2-year home residency on July 13, 2025, because I visited the United States for 15 days in July 2023 on a J1 visa. My CN is AS20259XXX, when do you think my case number will be current? If it becomes current in July 2025 like DV24, there should be no issues, right?

As has been explained before. Your best approach is to make sure that your interview happens at least 2 years after you left the USA. Regardless of when the case becomes current, YOU can delay the interview date.
No need to keep asking this same question.

Too early to know.

This is why J-1 visa is the worst. 15 days in the US can set you back two years and cost you a green card.

Hello Simon!
My husband had traveled to visit Dubai 6years ago but when we fill the DS260 we included this as a travel experience without noticing traveled within last 5years. So can this cause a problem?
In addition
A work experience got before 10years is it relevant to include in the DS260 because now I am self-employed for the last 10years

Not a problem.

Hi Simon, dv2024 cn 7.5 K from ACC, will you advise me to move to another country using the new FAM policy?

Difficult choice. According to the math, you might just get in at Accra, but moving would probably be safer.

Hi Brit,
Becoming current, is that related to actual month, or the month it shows (as the month after next in the Visa Bulletin)? I mean if the next Bulletin shows that in August my no. would be current, does that mean I still have a chance next month (June and possibly July) to move embassy? Or as it showed my number for August, then I am stuck to the embassy I am currently in?

As soon as the VB is published, cases get moved to AV status, and in the past we have considered those locked. However, that might be changeable under the new policy – but we don’t know for sure.
