Hi Simon should I submit a scanned copy of the affidavit of support or an original must be sent to me by the host
June 14, 2024 at 11:45
Via email is fine.
June 14, 2024 at 08:51
Hi Simon, thanks for the good job you have been doing.
We got married (customary) after the entrant in January but my partner had a child who has become mine too.
Have been selected, but my partner who also played with the the child in her entrant form wasn’t.
can I include the child in my ds 260 form?
What would you advise in such a case.
Thank you
June 14, 2024 at 11:44
Yes, if you are legally married you should complete a DS260 for each of you (including the spouse and the child) with the correct legal status.
June 14, 2024 at 02:20
Hi Simon,
My case number is AF628xx, LUS ,
it says my case at NVC ,no 2nl until now, is there’s might something wrong? should i wait or do something about it?
June 14, 2024 at 11:38
All you can do is wait.
June 18, 2024 at 03:52
hey simon,
i also did send to kcc to inquire about my case process and they replied with this:
*Your case number is now current for interview processing. If you are scheduled for an interview date, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov…*
should i still just wait or email the embassy?
June 18, 2024 at 19:01
There is no point emailing the embassy – they don’t know anything about your case until it is scheduled.
June 13, 2024 at 22:34
Hi Simon,
I got my police certificate from Hungary in 23rd October,2023 and it says validity is 90 days. Last time I was there in 3rd October, 2023, meaning that I did not enter to Hungary after I got my certificate. Is it okay if I bring it or should I again get the new one?
PS: Embassy is Almaty, Kazakhstan. As far as I heard, I can bring it, just wanted to make sure.
Thank you very much!
June 13, 2024 at 22:56
It’s fine. Police certs are accepted up to 2 years old.

June 28, 2024 at 22:12
Thank you Brit for your reply.
June 13, 2024 at 17:30
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your continuous support through the DV journey. I am Egyptian/Canadian born in Emirates and am residing in Canada. I have my interview coming up this August in Montreal Canada. I have a few questions regarding document translations:
1- Do I need to translate documents issued in French in Canada?
2- I have documents in Arabic from Egypt and Emirates. I had many documents translated to English in Egypt before moving to Canada a few years ago. My question is: Do I need to have all documents translated in Canada, since my interview is in Montreal? Or can use certified translations from Egypt as well?
June 13, 2024 at 21:59
1. No
2. English translations are accepted no matter where they were created.
June 15, 2024 at 09:25
Thanks for your response
I have another question regarding police certificates. I was born in Emirates, but I don’t have its nationality, and I left it when I was 10 years old and never went back. Do I need to provide a police certificate from there?
June 15, 2024 at 10:12
Read the instructions.
June 25, 2024 at 09:27
I understand from the general instructions on the DV website that I don’t need it. However, the consulate checklist instructions says that I have to submit a police certificate for each country I lived in for 12+ months. I got confused. Can the consulate requirements be different from the general DV requirements?
June 25, 2024 at 11:46
No, but there are more circumstances than that.
June 13, 2024 at 16:48
Hi Brit, WHERE ARE THE VIDEOS? I AM IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR THE GOOD YOUTUBE SUTFF. Haven’t seen you in a while.
June 13, 2024 at 17:03
LOL
June 13, 2024 at 15:47
Hi. I’m a temporary resident in Canada & Sri Lankan Citizen. I won diversity visa lottery, and I have an interview this July. My interview location is Montreal, Canada. My sponsor is a self employed Physiotherapist. So what are the documents I will need to submit instead of the passport bio page and i134 form.?(specially relating to tax return)
June 13, 2024 at 16:36
The I-134 should be supported by a 1040/W2, recent payslips, and a drivers license.
June 13, 2024 at 14:48
Hi Simon
Out of your survey of DV2025 winners, did you have many U.K. selectees ?
Will be interesting to see the numbers for selectees with it being our first year in the lottery.
June 13, 2024 at 16:34
I had some, but we won’t really know the numbers until July/August.
June 13, 2024 at 14:31
Hi Simon,
Dv2024
I have interview scheduled in three weeks in Angola Luanda. My situation is I stayed in angola by renewing my 3 month visa for about a year now supporting family business. Hence, I filled my ds260 with Angola as my current address. However. I go back home Ethiopea every 3 month to renew and meet family from time to time during the year. My question is I have police record from back home Eritrea but I don’t have police record from Angola because I lived here as a tourist. Would this cause any issue in my interview. Will they demand from me to provide criminal record from Angola ?
June 13, 2024 at 16:23
They will probably ask for the police record. Try and obtain one.
June 13, 2024 at 14:27
Hi Brit Simon
My case number is 2024AF63***
Nairobi embassy but still haven’t received my 2NL,
Has Nairobi embassy received 2NL’s for August interview already
Am worried..
June 13, 2024 at 16:21
You need to learn to be patient.
June 13, 2024 at 12:56
Hi Brit,
AF50K Egypt, in Nepal embassy.
Someone sent me the following table:
2NLs since 2024-06-07 (Scan 2024-06-13 17:10 UTC)
+———+——+—–+—–+—-+—-+
| Con | AF | AS | EU | OC | SA |
+———+——+—–+—–+—-+—-+
| ALG | 119 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| AMM | 15 | 35 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| KDU | 0 | 250 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
1- Do you know what is the source of such data to follow up with new updates (he didn’t tell me the source)?
2- Does this mean that I won’t get an interview ever as I am locked in Nepal now?
3- You told me before it is useless to email Nepal’s embassy, as my case was still with KCC. Is it now with Nepal? Would it be useful to email them ask about my possible interview?
4- Or even email KCC to ask the same?
Thanks.
Have a good day
June 13, 2024 at 13:39
1. I know the source, yes. But Xarthisius will publish his updates tomorrow.
2. Did you confirm you are assigned to KDU? How? Is your address in Nepal?
3. The embassy only knows anything about your case once the 2NL is sent. Until then, they know nothing.
4. You can ask KCC
June 13, 2024 at 13:51
Thanks for the prompt reply.
1- I emailed them a couple of months ago to confirm my asked case location, they said: “Your interview location is Kathmandu and will be used by KCC for scheduling purposes”.
2- Am I considered current now?
3- What do you think I could ask KCC in the email? Do I ask them why Nepal didn’t assign my interview yet if I am current? Or when would they do that? Would that hurt my chances if I ask?
Thanks a lot for your great support. I hope to be able to donate something next year if all went well.
June 13, 2024 at 14:12
1. OK
2. You should understand that by now. Is your number under the VB number for your region/country?
3. It won’t hurt to ask – use your own words.
June 13, 2024 at 12:42
Hi BritSimon,
We attended an interview yesterday morning at the Nairobi embassy. My wife, the principal applicant, is Ethiopian, while I am Kenyan. We were accompanied by our son.
During the document submission prior to the interview, the clerk noted that my wife’s birth certificate format was unfamiliar and could not be found in their database. My wife explained that she obtained her certificate 17 years ago and she wasn’t sure when the Ethiopian government started issuing the format certificates similar to what our son has. Her certificate bears the seal of the Ethiopian foreign affairs ministry plus its consulate stamp in Kenya.
The interview itself proceeded smoothly, with straightforward questions being asked. At one point, the consular officer inquired if my wife had traveled outside of Kenya, to which she responded no. The CO expressed surprise, indicating that records showed she had traveled elsewhere. My wife then clarified that she has a twin sister residing in Germany who has a very similar name, which resolved the confusion.
The CO then turned to me and noted my travel history, to which I confirmed having been to Qatar, the UAE, and Ethiopia. All police clearances had been submitted for the above mentioned countries. No additional questions were posed thereafter.
Subsequently, we were issued a yellow 221(g) slip, with the CO stating that further checks were needed for both my wife and me. All our documents were returned except for our passports.
Given the issuance of the 221(g) slip and our understanding that this process can be prolonged, potentially taking months or even years, we are concerned about the risk of the fiscal year concluding or visas running out before our case review is completed.
Would you advise us to follow up regularly with the embassy, or should we wait as instructed? Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your attention and assistance.
Best regards,
L.M.
June 13, 2024 at 13:36
There is a deadline on DV cases. No case can be approved after September 30th of the fiscal year. So – they try and conclude 221g fast, but there are some cases that don’t make it in time, and then the chance is lost. Yes you can email the embassy – probably once every few weeks.
June 13, 2024 at 13:39
Thanks for the quick response.
June 13, 2024 at 12:06
Good morning sir,
My number is 523XX for Egypt, and I don’t think I will get an interview here, is Bahrain a good embassy to have interview in at instead?
June 13, 2024 at 13:33
Maybe, but you need to act fast to update your address.
June 13, 2024 at 11:17
Hi Simon. I’m from Africa uganda I won dv lottery 2025, but I don’t have passport because I’m refugee in uganda so can I put my refugee I’d number instead of the passport number when I fill ds260
June 13, 2024 at 13:33
Yes
June 13, 2024 at 11:14
Hello Simon, is there a chance for 2024AS15449 to get an interview schedule if my case is current, would it be even current at the next visa bulletin?
June 13, 2024 at 13:32
I expect it to become current, but you will have to wait and see.
June 13, 2024 at 10:08
Hi Brit,
I’m DV2024 number EU31826. In case next visa bulletin jumps to at least EU32000, do you think we will most likely get a chance to have an interview, or they might give the last visas before our number?
I saw in your historical visa bulletin that without counting years when they were already current at this stage, they have never jumped more than 3300 numbers (year 2015) in the last bulletin.
June 13, 2024 at 07:50
Hello Simon,
Based on the latest statistics, is it possible that the cases may exceed 16,000? And in case they do, is it possible for me to get an interview and visa, being from Yemen and with my case number being 15,500, even if the interview date is in late September?
June 13, 2024 at 09:25
That is all speculation – we can only wait and see.
June 13, 2024 at 05:54
Hello BritSimon,
I’m curious about the outcome of cases that have been in ‘ready’ status since the start of the year.
June 13, 2024 at 09:24
Some people don’t show up for their interviews – I call those “no shows”.
June 13, 2024 at 04:39
Hi Simon.
If my husband is the primary applicant but becomes medically unable to travel for the first trip on the emigrant visa is there special dispensation for myself and our children to go without him.
June 13, 2024 at 09:24
No. The primary applicant must travel with, or before the derivatives for the first entry to the USA.
June 13, 2024 at 04:09
Hi BritSimon,
I was wondering if you know what might all be required of me when I activate my visa? I was selected for green card lottery and have been issued the visa in my passport but when I did the medical I had to have an additional test because on the x-ray they couldn’t rule out TB. I did the test and got the report. On my visa is says “Class B req. ATTN of USPHS at POE” do you know what USPHS might require of me and will I need to allow additional days for this as was initially planning only a short trip to activate.
Additional I was checking up on what might be required for Class B req. ATTN and I may need to get an extra test done. Do you know what location I could get this done within a few days?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards
Charles
June 13, 2024 at 09:22
I am not aware of the procedures for that scenario.
June 13, 2024 at 02:29
Dear simon there is a telegram group that claims it’s you helping dv winer finding best embassy for their cases.
I want to know can we trust on information that he provided? Is that you?
I write down the link of the group below 👇🏻

I am in that channel as Simon Britain.
June 13, 2024 at 01:14
Our case number is current but the embassy in Accra’s performance is very bad can we still move case to another country?
June 13, 2024 at 01:09
Hi Brit Good day.
Please a friend of mine wants to move his case from Ghana to another country and what should be the excuse to KCC for them to move my case to a preferred country.
June 13, 2024 at 09:19
That you have moved to that country. BUT if this is a DV2024 case, and already current, it is probably too late to do that. KCC are not helping such cases.
June 12, 2024 at 21:17
Dear Sir,
I hope this will help .
My conversation with KCC:
The I sent: Hello,
My case is already current since last month and knowing the BACKLOG of Dakar can I change my interview location to another embassy?
Regards.
CN 2024AF64XXX
PA XXXXX
DOB XXXX.
KCC repy:Thank you for your inquiry.
Once the DS-260 for the Principal Applicant has been submitted, the interview location can only be updated by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). Please send your request to [email protected]. Unless they are in the U.S. and adjusting status, all applicants on the case will be scheduled for interview with the Principal Applicant. You should contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly to arrange separate interviews, if needed.
If your interview has already been scheduled, you must contact the U.S. embassy or consulate to request a transfer of your case. The U.S. embassy or consulate will determine if it will accept your case for transfer.
June 13, 2024 at 09:15
I edited your personal information here.
June 13, 2024 at 09:37
Thank you for that. Was si excited to share this on your blog that’s why.
June 13, 2024 at 09:46
Yes – I understand, but you have to be careful with your private data.
June 14, 2024 at 03:20
Thank you Brit. This response means a lot to me.
But my current job is teaching in Accra. Does choosing Liberia where I have family mean I should delete my current job from the DS 260?
June 14, 2024 at 11:39
No.
June 12, 2024 at 20:38
Hi Brit, my case number is 24k and currently in Accra. Can I choose another country like Liberia for my interview without using Liberia address as my current address
June 13, 2024 at 09:09
They may ignore your choice and use your address to determine which embassy to assign you to. So – you can try, but it is not certain to work.
June 12, 2024 at 18:41
Hi Brit if you made a mistake on the date of birth for your derivative but on filling the ds260 you correctly filled it will it pose any problems during interview
June 13, 2024 at 09:05
Not normally, no.
June 12, 2024 at 17:25
hi simon my case number is 2025AF202** I live in ethiopia do i have a chance to get in to an interview otherwise i have relative in Germany so should i change my interview location to Germany to get a good chance.
June 13, 2024 at 09:02
You probably have a chance in Addis
June 12, 2024 at 17:01
Dear Brit,
I am a DV2024AF23k winner and have got my interview scheduled at the Consular Section- Kigali, end of July 24. I would like to get your advice on the process of unlocking the DS-260 at the consular to add my spouse whom I married in Decembre 2023.
I had submitted my DS-260 in July 2023 as a single person , but then got married in November 24, and sent the unlock request to the KCC in Decembre 2023. The KCC replied mentioning that my case number had a current status for interview processing and recommended I should contact the consular section where I will be interviewed requesting unlocking of the application. I have now received a letter inviting me for Interview for end of July 24.
I have emailed the consular requesting to unlock the DS-260 and add my wife to the application; they replied saying that my request has been processed but didn’t provide any detail on the process, and are yet to reply to my follow-up e-mails.
What is the normal process of unlocking the DS-260 at the consular? If they don’t reply, should I just prepare to take my wife at the interview with the evidence of our marriage?
I would appreciate any advice on this.
Many thanks
June 13, 2024 at 09:02
The only way to sort this out is with the embassy. Yes take your wife with you and all the evidence of the marriage, and also the evidence that you asked to unlock back in December. It’s a pity you did not unlock as soon as you were married (or even before you were married).
June 12, 2024 at 15:28
I am trying now to move my CN 2024 EU 17.4k from ABD (where the case has been stuck in AV since February 24) to Frankfurt.
Frankfurt replied “contact KCC to reassign”, refusing to request the case on my behalf.
KCC, though, replying with templates “you are current for scheduling” on request to move.
Is there any solution to find a way out of this vicious circle?
June 13, 2024 at 08:56
Only if the embassy takes action for you. They would probably only do that if you are local. But why not try a different embassy, one that is less busy.
June 12, 2024 at 14:46
Hi Brit,
1- I heard that Nepal assigned interviews for next August for Asia, is that true?
2- Could it later assign interview for Africa too? (I am 50K Egypt).
3- Isn’t this the link to check interviews under the embassy data?
https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY24.html
As I don’t see any data for June yet.
Thanks
June 13, 2024 at 08:54
1. I don’t know yet.
2. Maybe
3. Yes
June 12, 2024 at 14:24
Hello Mr Simon i hope your doing well my case is 65187 Morocco do i have any chance for an interview appointment ?
June 12, 2024 at 17:11
Yes
June 12, 2024 at 12:54
Hello BritSimon, our case number is 2024EU36***, and if my children will apply for a student visa, can their visas be approved because we think our case number is not about to be current?
June 12, 2024 at 13:19
Filing the DS260 is a declaration of immigrant intent. So – the non immigrant visas might be harder to be approved. Not impossible, harder.
June 12, 2024 at 12:33
Hi BritSimon.
My case number is EU318XX from Tajikistan. I am currently in US with f1 student. I opted for adjustment of status when i filled my DS260. So now Do u think its better to change it for consular processing since adjustment of status takes longer time to process. Should I tell KCC to change my case to consular processing and I go home? I am also pregnant and my due date is on September 20. So if I go back and I receive my greencard before Sep 20 what will happen to my child? Or i just stay here so my child is born here and go for adjustment of status? Please respond
June 12, 2024 at 12:37
This is a decision you must make yourself. But changing to CP this late probably won’t end well, because they would have to process your DS260 (background checks etc) in the next two to three weeks.
If you do stick with AOS, make sure you use the early filing policy.
June 12, 2024 at 12:53
Thanks for quick Response. Do u think USCIS processes Dv cases faster? From reading someones mon blog and looking at other people it looks like if you become current in earlier month the process is still slower for adjustment of status.i dont know about people being current on last month and using early filling policy. DO u think USCIS will look at their cases faster?
June 12, 2024 at 13:21
Yes
June 12, 2024 at 11:53
I am a DV2024 winner 2024AF25k. On my DS-260 form I filled in May 2023 I selected Accra as my interview location but I have since moved to Ivory Coast for business purposes . I haven’t yet been scheduled for an interview but I have a residents permit in Ivory Coast. Should I email KCC or the Ivory Coast embassy to schedule me an interview at Abidjan since I haven’t received any email from the Accra embassy yet
June 12, 2024 at 12:18
You won’t get an interview at Accra. I have made that clear for months. Your only remaining chance is to persuade the IC embassy to take your case, and contact KCC on your behalf.
June 12, 2024 at 11:40

Hello Dear,
I am from Ethiopia with higher case number AF350xx winner of dv-2025 and i want to change interview in other countries embassy of America. is it a possible to change if so what would you recommend me and help me out to get my interview soon and get visa.
June 12, 2024 at 12:20
Yes you should change. They base your interview on your current address, so before you become current you should move to another country and update your address.
June 12, 2024 at 10:42
I Appriciate your efforts in answering all these questions and the hard word you do , God bless you , Asia15600?
June 12, 2024 at 12:08
Wait and see.
June 12, 2024 at 07:21
I really hope to see Europe reach 34k or 35k next month.let’s hope so.my case number is 321xx and I’m from Tajikistan,my embassy is DHB.dhb is performing well because people from Tajikistan with case numbers till 30k already received their 2nls last night.
June 12, 2024 at 12:05
Fingers crossed!
June 12, 2024 at 13:09
Do you know, by chance, if other embassies sent 2nl, apart from DHB?
June 12, 2024 at 13:15
Yes of course.
June 12, 2024 at 06:48
Hellow Brit Simon, my case number become current in July VB i.e. 118**. With only 3 months left for processing for 2024 , am I safe to receive the visa before it closes? Or are there chances where due to processing delay someone may not get there chance. Thank you in advance.
June 12, 2024 at 12:04
The only time you are safe is once the visa is in your hand.
June 12, 2024 at 18:15
I understand that Simon and respect your response. However, I wanted to know if there can be some procedural delays even though there is 3 months left and how much changes are there for me to receive my visa. I am from Nepal and embassy is KDU.
June 13, 2024 at 09:03
Yes there can be delays, that is exactly why I answered as I did. You cannot consider yourself safe until you have the visa.
June 12, 2024 at 05:35
How do you know that the embassy released interview dates yesterday when Xarthisius makes updates only on Friday evenings once a week? Is there any other source of information?
June 12, 2024 at 09:07
as far as i know After releasing the VB KCC starts sending 2nls to consulates turn by turn up to the last days of every month
June 12, 2024 at 11:34
It’s a secret.
June 12, 2024 at 05:03
In what month was your interview back then?
June 12, 2024 at 11:34
Mine – September.

Desi!Ciao Britt. Spero che tu stia bene. Può accadere un miracolo con case53kEU per diventare attuale per settembre e ottenere una data per l’intervista, possiamo vedere un po’ di luce alla fine del tunnel?
June 12, 2024 at 11:33
Probably no miracle, no.

Hi Brit,
I have a friend with case number 2025AF529XX and it’s taking so long to get passports here in my country. Can she fill the DS260 with another Identification Number and later unlock it to amend the passport number?
Thank you for your continued support.
Ken

Yes. The form specifically allows for that.

1. Except for 2022 and 2023, why were fewer than 50,000 visas issued in the years from 2014 to 2019 (excluding the COVID period and Trump’s tenure)?
2. What is your prediction for the final Visa Bulletin for the Asia region? Could it increase by 7,000?
June 12, 2024 at 07:34
Many reasons. But mostly because DV applicants take a lot of consular resources while paying less fees than all the other immigrant visa categories and, most importantly, the US doesn’t really need them; there are two types of immigrants that the country is interested in : 1. illegal immigrants because they are ready to work for very low salaries and do jobs that Americans don’t want to do anymore (though too many illegals drive all salaries down, which is why Republicans AND Democrats deport a lot, especially before elections) 2. very skilled/extraordinary talented immigrants (like O visas and a lot of H1B visas) because they improve the country’s productivity and therefore are economically very interesting for the country.
Most DV applicants do not fit any of those two ”needs” because they have a legal status and have no ”extraordinary” skills (on average).

1. They usually underfill the quota. The quota in those years was 50,000.
2. I don’t have a prediction.

Hi sir.
As you gessed asia incresed by 2k in last VB. As you do so do you have any predictions regarding upcomming VB.
June 12, 2024 at 08:59
No – for the last VB I will just wait and see. Unless some idiot Youtuber creates a nonsense post that scares people….

I’m Nelum from Sri Lanka.. my CN is AS202422***. With last VB we were heartbroken and wonder why Asia is moving very slow.. I ( including all family members) have already submitted DS260..is there any chance to win again if we apply in future.. because we already won and submitted DS260 , but didn’t get visa as we are in high CN range..Is there any limitation to win again if we apply ??
June 12, 2024 at 08:59
The draw is random. Your present win and DS submission doesn’t affect your future chance one way or the other.

Hi Sir,
I missed out to write zip code for my current residence address and for the address of my employment – for oversea one.
Can this disqualify me.

No

Hi Brit, there is only one bulletin left and my case number is in the region of AF86k for DV 2024…do you see any realistic opportunity?
June 12, 2024 at 08:57
I guess we will know for sure in a month.
