Hello i was a dv 2024 winner already came to the US 🇺🇸 and got my green card about 4 weeks after coming to the US.briefly i will write down how I passed my interview…I had an interview on September 6 at the US embassy Dushanbe. Everything passed quickly and easily. At first i paid 330 dollars then i was called for the second time to show and give my documents including birth certificate, high school certificate, police clearance certificate and others.then the man who took my documents told me to wait until the consular officer calls me.the Co called me and i went up to the 4th window.the CO was very friendly we greeted and asked me to swear to tell her the truth.i raised up my ✋ and then i did what she asked me to do. I was asked the following questions:1. How old are you? 2. Where will you go(what state, city)?3. Do you have any relatives in the US?4. Do you work or study? 5. What’s your major?. And at the end she congratulated me because my visa was approved and gave a paper which was written Congratulations your immigrant visa is approved! Then I thanked her and left the consular section of US embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.my case number was EU32***. during your interview always try to tell the truth and everything will be fine.believe that dv lottery interviews are the most easiest and shortest ones.

Congratulations!!

Hello Brit Simon, and thank you for all the information you provide! I am a British national and Canadian dual citizen residing in Canada. I did not graduate from high school but completed two technical college diplomas and have 20+ years of professional work experience in my field. Since retiring in 2020, I’ve worked one year on short-term contracts in my field. I am self-sufficient, with a pension and assets. Will I qualify for the DV2026 U.S. visa lottery under the education or work experience requirement?
December 15, 2024 at 11:20
This is just a lottery, so first you see if you are selected. But in the meantime you could read the link below.

Hi Brit,
I am a happy resident. Hope you are doing well!
Question: My mom wants to come visit for two weeks. Can I fill out the Esta (visa waiver) for her here from the US and pay the fee using my credit card? She is retired and not the best with computers etc. Or is this somehow not allowed, meaning she has to do that herself and pay using her card? Thanks!
December 15, 2024 at 11:18
You can do it for her.
December 14, 2024 at 12:20

December 15, 2024 at 11:18

Hello Simon,
I wanted to ask you about my situation. I have received a scholarship for the Mandela Washington Fellowship in the USA, and I am also a winner of the DV Lottery 2025. However, my case number is 68XXX, which is relatively high, so I expect that it will take some time for my DV Lottery processing.
If I attend the first stage of the Mandela fellowship (the interview) and win the fellowship, will I be able to change my embassy to the US embassy if I go to the USA before my DV Lottery interview?
Thank you for your help!
December 15, 2024 at 11:17
There is a different process for people that want to adjust status in the USA, but it is very difficult to predict the timing at this point. So – yes there is a way to process, but timing may create a risk if you switch late in the year.
December 13, 2024 at 19:45
Hi Simon!
In California there is apparently a fine for each month people do not maintain health insurance coverage. The thing is, I got my GC in August, did a very short activation trip in September and have been doing short trips back and forth since then to bring personal items from abroad and tie up loose ends. I will only settle permanently and start working on January 5th (which is when my employer’s insurance will start).
Do you know when it starts counting towards the fine ? Is it from the activation trip date ?
Thanks a lot!
December 15, 2024 at 11:13
It is up to you to report when you became resident. So don’t worry about fines…
December 13, 2024 at 17:39
Hi Brit,
I’m 2025AF19xxx and i want to transfer my case to another embassy. I sent an email to KCC to reveal me the status of my case. They said: ” KCC can no longer unlock you application”. Is there any chance for transfer and how? Thanks.
December 15, 2024 at 11:13
So you are in stage 4 – AV status (meaning you are in a queue for the embassy). You can ask them to assign you to another embassy but they might decline that request.
December 15, 2024 at 11:51
What if I go to the country that I want to transfer my case to and send them an email to transfer my case because of my physical location? Is there any chance to transfer?
December 15, 2024 at 16:41
If the new embassy asks KCC on your behalf, KCC will do that. BUT, that is not easy to achieve.
December 13, 2024 at 09:00
Greetings Mr. Simon. I hope this massages finds you well. My question is: can you say something about the meaning of Stage one, Stage two —— Stage four, concerning ds-260 processing status? and also what should be the content of the email from KCC look like to say the ds-260 application processing status of a single individual is Stage 1, 2, 3, 4 and so forth. Thank you in advance for your evaluable explanation.

December 13, 2024 at 07:15
Hi Sir, hope you are doing great.
Please, someone who had traveled in the last five years and did not mention it during the filling of the Ds 260 form because they got a new passport with no previous stamp. Will that individual be affected during the interview? Or is it advisable to unlock the form for correction??
December 15, 2024 at 11:08
Sounds like that person was deliberately dishonest in the way they completed the form. That is unwise and should be corrected.
December 13, 2024 at 01:37
Hello brit. I received my 2NL This morning Freetown embassy scheduled for february 3rd what should i do next after receiving the 2NL.
December 13, 2024 at 14:47
Sammy please what’s your case number range?
December 15, 2024 at 06:30
Can you please tell me which rang are u, so I can prepare myself properly. Mine is AF12***
December 15, 2024 at 11:43
Hehehehe AF11*** don’t man just prepare yourself well for the interview bro you’ll go through….i’m not at your embassy & I haven’t received 2NL yet. All the best man.
December 15, 2024 at 11:06
Read the instructions, arrange your medical, gather all the documents….
December 12, 2024 at 16:07
Hello Sir,
Hope you’re doing great! I received my 2NL today. 2025AS4xxxx
I have two concerns to clarify. Could you please assist me on this?
1. I am the primary applicant. My husband is the beneficiary. During the initial DV entry, I have misspelled his second name as Ahmed instead of Ahamed. However, I corrected it in the ds260. But today, in the 2NL, under beneficiary, his name appeared as the initial entry. Would that cause any harm?
2. My brother is an Asylee who has just filled for his greencard in the US. He is living there for the past 7 years and has a very good income. Can he be my sponsor or should I look for a sponsor who is a citizen?
December 12, 2024 at 21:01
1. No
2. Since he doesn’t have the GC yet, use someone else.
December 12, 2024 at 06:26
Greetings Sir,
Please, is it advisable to notarize my school documents? Both transcripts and Diploma
December 12, 2024 at 12:46
Typically that is not needed, but read the embassy/country specific instructions to be certain for your country.
December 11, 2024 at 22:42
I’ve got the confirmation from KCC that my case has been transferred from Ankara to Vienna. But I haven’t updated my address on my DS260, there is still my Turkish address in the form. Would that be a problem?
December 12, 2024 at 10:14
It depends on what you told KCC in order to get transferred to Vienna…
December 11, 2024 at 11:35
Hi Brit.
I’m a DV2025 winner from Somalia. I’m current, and it seems that my embassy isn’t performing well. I desperately want to transfer my case to another embassy. Could you recommend that I go there and then send an email to that embassy, or could I send an email while I’m not in that country?
December 11, 2024 at 14:03
The best way is to be in another country and update the address on the DS260.
December 11, 2024 at 16:51
I don’t think that I accessible to unlock my Ds260 to update my address. So How?
December 11, 2024 at 17:05
You have to ask KCC to unlock your DS260
December 11, 2024 at 07:03
Good morning Simon, I’d like to ask a question.
If I can’t show up at the appointment set by the Consulate and I ask for a postponement, can I choose the new date or is it up to them to inform me?
With a very low case number will the rescheduling be done soon or in this case the case number does not count and I risk to lose my visa? Thank you very much for your time.
December 11, 2024 at 14:01
The embassy decides when and whether to reschedule you. Don’t miss your appointment unless you can’t avoid it.
December 11, 2024 at 05:50
Hello Simon, ive been looking at the data for zambians selected in the dv lottery over the alst 5 years. the numbers are very low compared to other african countries , e.g ghana or ethiopia. do you know why this is so?
December 11, 2024 at 14:00
Less Zambians enter the lottery than those countries. Zambia typically has 2000 to 3000 entries, whilst Ethiopia and Ghana have hundreds of thousands entries.
December 11, 2024 at 05:47
Hi Brit,
Please, I have a mistake in my Ds 260 form. The part that says have you lived anywhere other than this address since the age of sixteen? I said “yes instead I should have say no”, and then I repeated my present address. But I have been living to my present address since the age of nine. Will this affect me? Or should I unlock my form and make a correction??
December 11, 2024 at 13:57
No need to correct it.
December 11, 2024 at 03:39
Hello brit hope you having a wonderful time just a quick one i omitted one of my middle names in my educational documents like the high school diploma and bachelor degree and transcripts is that a cause for concern
December 11, 2024 at 13:57
No
December 10, 2024 at 19:30
Hi Simon,my husband and I have applied in October. We did separate applications,he is from Afrika and I am from Europe, to maybe give ourselves a higher chance. Just,we are already in USA (we entered legally but our esta/travel visas are expired). We live with his family that are USA citizens. We did wrote that we are now here in application. Will the situation that we are now, determined the final result, are we gonna be denied?
December 11, 2024 at 13:56
You cannot disrespect the US immigration laws and then expect everything to be forgiven by winning the DV lottery.
December 10, 2024 at 08:08
Hello Brit,
I have a question about dv-2026,
1 is receiving a confirmation number the only way to ensure that our entry have been recorded into the electronic system?
2 I assume there is no way to contact kcc about any single entry (since there are millions)?
I am just asking if, by getting a confirmation page, I was indeed included in the draw
December 11, 2024 at 13:53
1. Yes. Once the checking period opens in May you will be able to retrieve the confirmation number.
2. Correct.
December 10, 2024 at 06:21
Hello Brit,
I have completed a total of 11 years of education (8 years primary school and 3 years of high school). I have enrolled in college and didn’t finish (so haven’t had my degree).
Do I qualify under the education requirement since it mentions you should have 12 years of education, and does the college years I have completed count towards that?
December 11, 2024 at 13:50
It is not the number of years that is important, it is the level attained (which is the entry point for a University course). So – based on that, you are probably OK since you were able to begin a degree course.
December 10, 2024 at 02:14
Hello Brit please how much is the cost of dv medicals ?
December 11, 2024 at 13:46
It varies by country – so check with the physician for your country.
December 13, 2024 at 14:45
Is it okay to do your physical in another country? For example if currently in Australia. But just received my appointment for the start of Feb in London?
December 15, 2024 at 11:11
No, the London embassy will expect a medical from their panel physician.
December 9, 2024 at 23:23
Hello dear BritSimon
I got married last month and added my spouse (with “add applicant” button) WITHOUT unlocked my ds260 so in my ds my marriage status is not changed (still single)
1. Please can you help me what to do my case is 13*** do I need to unlock and change my ds260 OR wait and change it on interview day?
1. And also if I unlock my ds260 does it cause delays?
Thanks in advance
December 11, 2024 at 13:46
1. I would unlock and correct that.
2. It might cause a delay (because you are adding an adult), but it is worth it to make sure your case is properly processed, an additional visa is allocated and so on.
December 9, 2024 at 15:58
I am seeing the Visa bulletin for February and i am worried that numbers are not moving…did this happened before? Is something like this common? Will they speed up later?:(
December 9, 2024 at 16:13
Just in DV2025, the VB number was repeated for 3 months then increased last month and was repeated again this month. So asking if this has happened before seems a bit daft.
As to what will happen later – I don’t know.
December 9, 2024 at 16:37
ohhh sorry,i tunned in last month, did not check the numbers from the months before,i thought it was rising gradually and this seemed odd.Thank you for your answer ✌️
December 9, 2024 at 03:11
Hello Brit! I am 2025 winner. My daughter is US citizen but by mistake I have added in the DV application form. I not filled her DS260 and left blank as per your suggestion but when when filling up mine and my husbands D260, I chose “YES” to the question “is your child immigrating with you ” 1. will that be a problem. 2. Do I need to unlock and change to “No”
December 9, 2024 at 14:37
1. No
2. No
December 9, 2024 at 01:55
Hello! I am about to enter the US after receiving my passport back from the embassy. How long will it take before I will receive my SSN? Will it come in the same package as my green card? Thanks
December 9, 2024 at 14:36
The SSN usually arrives in 2 to 3 weeks. The GC can be much longer than that – sometimes 3 or 4 months (but usually 1 to 2 months)
December 9, 2024 at 15:51
I have had an SSN in the past and on my DS260 I answered “No” to the question about whether or not I need another card. Am I fine to continue using my past SSN as soon as I enter the country?
December 9, 2024 at 16:12
Yes, the number stays the same. The only thing you might need to do is get a new card (with the same number) IF the old card had some wording that restricted working.
December 8, 2024 at 23:19
Hello Simon, just a quick question, EU34k, should i have my hopes up or is it doomed 😀, Belgrade embassy.
December 9, 2024 at 14:35
It is too early to make guesses. We will have more data on January 1, but also we don’t know what impacts the new administration could have. So – best idea is “wait and see”.
December 8, 2024 at 13:03
Hey brit hope you are okey i am a dv 25 winner i visited qatar for seven months will i need a police clearance
December 8, 2024 at 13:06
Please read the instructions.
December 8, 2024 at 13:01
Hello brit
I am a dv 25 selectee the photo i used my face appeared a bit bigger is that a problem
December 8, 2024 at 13:05
Probably not.
December 8, 2024 at 07:56
Hi again Brit Simon!
Could you please clarify the following regarding the Adjustment of Status (AOS) process for a Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery winner:
1. If the main applicant holds a valid B1/B2 visa, can she enter the U.S. alone and complete the entire AOS process without her family members (spouse and child) being present in the U.S.?
2. If the main applicant can complete the AOS process alone, how and when can her family members join her to obtain their green cards? Will it happen immediately after the main applicant will successfully get her green card?
December 8, 2024 at 12:57
1. Yes
2. Once adjusted, the main applicant can file an I824 which starts the follow to join process. It is up to the applicant to book the interview and it still has the same deadline (September 30th)
December 8, 2024 at 13:45
Is I824 risky upon high case numbers(EU202534K)? Case could become current in August and even in September.
December 8, 2024 at 17:46
Yes of course. For this reason some people decide on another method such as arranging a CP interview in the home country with the family.
December 8, 2024 at 07:09
Hi Simon
I hope you are doing better…
I would like to know if I have visit visa valid for 3 months , can I use it to schedule my interview in that country? Won’t bring problem during interview?
I will be current maybe august or September if I even get current
Thank you
December 8, 2024 at 12:56
Some people have managed to change their interview location based on being temporarily in some country, yes.
December 7, 2024 at 22:28
Hi Brit!
I got my Green Card through the DV lottery program in 2022 and have followed all rules and regulations since. Do you think under Trump’s presidency my Green Card could be taken away? Thank you, Brit!
December 8, 2024 at 12:55
No.
December 7, 2024 at 15:06
Hi Simon, I hope you have recovered from your injury and feeling good from your cold?
Alhamdulilah Alhamdulilah Alhamdulilah. I’m finally in the United States. Thank you very much for your guidance throughout the whole process. It is really appreciated. Without you, things would’ve been easy.
December 7, 2024 at 15:36
Thank God. Can you have a look at DONATE please.
He is doing it without expecting that, but we all know people usually ask if they take their time for us.
Best of luck
December 8, 2024 at 12:54
Thanks for the sentiment. Welcome to the USA – and good luck!
December 7, 2024 at 14:44
Hi mr. Simon,
My case is 2025EU39xxx in Israel what are the chances to get 2nl and if it happens what is the approx. date it can be?
in addition, as i understand form the instruction you don’t need to provide copy for your documents in advance but just bring it to the interview? Is that correct?
And one more, If I don’t have vaccination documents to prove that I got all the mandatory vaccines, what should I do in this case?
Thank you in advance
December 8, 2024 at 12:54
Your number is very high – possibly too high. So if it does become current it will be in the final month or two (August or September).
For vaccines the physician will decide what vaccines are required, and administer them if you wish.
December 16, 2024 at 06:41
Which physician? During which step?
Is it mandatory to take those vaccines?
December 16, 2024 at 10:09
The panel physician that performs your medical which happens just before the interview.
Yes the vaccines are required.
December 7, 2024 at 13:15
At what time will you come live
December 7, 2024 at 10:12
For example, a person has won a Green Card and has a husband, and after being granted a visa to leave for the United States, he starts dating a man who did not win the Green Card. What happens?
December 7, 2024 at 08:34
Hi Brits how you doing. First of all I would like to thank you for all you are doing, which is very important for all Dv winner across the world to make well informed decision in their Visa process and triumph their dream of living in US.
My question is: My place of birth on my passport says “North Shewa”, which is the general name that embrace vast areas including my specific birth place(i.e. Sheno city), on my birth certificate is says, ” North Shewa Zone, Sheno city” and when I Filled my Ds-260, I said ” Sheno City”, which is the specific area where I was born. Thus, does it have any problem? thank you in advance for your unlimited support and kind fullness.
December 7, 2024 at 10:16
No problem.
December 6, 2024 at 09:39
Hi Simon,
I’m case no 2025AF58***.
We happen to have a a whatsapp group for selectees in our country and have been getting contradicting information on my case,
please clarify for me,
I entered the lottery as unmarried but included our daughter in the application, reason for not including my spouse, we did not have a marriage certificate. In our country(Kenya) customary marriage is legal, now the argument has been, I did a mistake participating as unmarried instead of married and get married after or before selection. They claim this will lead to straight denial as we were customary married.
My question, after selection, we got married in May and included my spouse as a derivative, will this have a negative impact on my case. Was been advised that I shouldn’t have added her, that I should have proceeded only with our daughter when submitting DS260. Kindly guide.
December 6, 2024 at 10:32
If the “date of marriage” on the certificate is after selection, you’re good. There’s no certificate for customary marriage or ‘come-we-stay’ thing in kenya. The only way to prove your marriage to the CO is by marriage certificate- the one you got on your wedding after selection. However you must be careful with your answers during your interview since mentioning that you were married in anyway legal, customary included, before your application then that can lead to disqualification.
December 6, 2024 at 12:46
Thankyou Collins, well understood.
December 6, 2024 at 10:34
If there is no register or record of the customary marriage, then you don’t have to mention that. So – you entered as unmarried, then married the mother of your child once you won. That is fine.
December 6, 2024 at 12:48
Thankyou Brit, I appreciate.
December 7, 2024 at 18:09
Like Collins metionned, better not to mention even customarry or any other type of marriage.
I assume she was your girlfriend before, then married after selection. No problem with this, but if you made the error to mention even during interview you were married before entry you will be disqualified. You did good by listing your child.
Good luck
December 11, 2024 at 01:45
Hello bro, kindly share the link to the Whatsapp group. I’m also from Kenya. Thank you
December 6, 2024 at 08:05
Hi Sir
please 🙏.. I have a pending petition and I am also a Dv 2025 winner Af 39K. But I had reduction in my pending petition age. That was in January 2024, and I got selected in the lottery with my rightful age. Will that affect me during the interview? What do I need to do??
December 6, 2024 at 10:32
I don’t know if it will affect you.
December 7, 2024 at 18:13
Better match the date with petition, nowadays the US save all information provided, you may fail the DV but the petition unless lies, you will succed and there is appeal there, but DV no
December 6, 2024 at 03:36
Hi, Brit. I am a DV lottery from Somalia and now I’m current with case number 2025AF19xxx. I’m considering to transfer my case from Tanzania. I have got a relative from another country i want to transfer to it. is it good reason for the embassy to accecpt my transfer? or do i need another reason apart from that? thanks in advance.
December 6, 2024 at 10:30
There isn’t a list of good reasons available. You can try.
December 5, 2024 at 22:24
Dear brit,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to seek clarification regarding the appearance of thin, scattered lines that resemble scratches on my U.S. Diversity Visa (DV) immigrant visa. I would like to confirm if these are standard security features included as part of the visa design or if further verification is needed.
I would greatly appreciate your assistance in confirming this matter or directing me to the appropriate department for further verification.
Thank you for your time and support.
December 6, 2024 at 10:28
Google immigrant visa images and compare.

2. On the day.
3. No
4. No impact.
December 5, 2024 at 17:19
Any reason to worry about a shadow in original pic submitted in the lottery entry.
All other image requirements were met.
Does the fact that I’ve been selected mean that the pic was reviewed and accepted?
December 5, 2024 at 17:36
It is probably nothing to worry about.
December 6, 2024 at 06:16
Hello Sir Brit Simon. I have been watching you videos on youtube. I am a dv lottery winner 2025 asia having case number between 19000-20000. I have filed my ds 260 form on April month last year. Now, i want to get married and want to include my fiancé as my wife and change my DS-260 form. Is this going to be a risky decision? Please guide me on this sir.
December 6, 2024 at 10:31
Not very risky as long as the CO is convinced it is a genuine relationship.
December 5, 2024 at 13:29
Any update on freetown embassy britt.
December 5, 2024 at 15:39
No
December 5, 2024 at 13:27
I am from Uzbekistan. I am a DV-2025 winner with a case number of 10,400. Will my interview appointment come from Tashkent, or should I request a transfer? If I transfer, which embassy would you recommend?
December 5, 2024 at 15:39
We don’t have data at this time. So I don’t know.
December 5, 2024 at 11:50

Hello I hope this message finds you well. I have a question I choose my birth place wrongly Jordan to instead of my right birth place Turkey. Will they help me for my Diversity Visa? I did not know anything about this situation. And when I learn this situation I sent email immediately and I share this situation with KCC. This is my dream. I don’t want to be eliminated.

You are being very vague, which is unwise.
If you have an AS region case number, and you have no justification for that, then you will be disqualified at interview.
So – are you married to a Jordanian?
December 6, 2024 at 00:36
Thank you for your response. No, I am not married to a Jordanian. My selection of Jordan as my country of birth was an honest mistake during the initial application process. I realized this error later and immediately reported it to KCC.
In my DS-260 form, I have accurately provided my correct place of birth as Turkey, and I have all the necessary documents (birth certificate, passport) to support this. I sincerely hope this mistake can be understood as a genuine error.
Do you think I still have a chance at the interview if I present my documents and explain my mistake clearly?
Thank you for your guidance.

There is no chance. You will be disqualified if you choose to attend the interview.

Even though I reported this situation, they gave me an interview. don’t you think I have a chance ?
December 7, 2024 at 10:16
No chance at all. They have no discretion since you were in the draw for the wrong region. This is a fundamental rule.

Dear Brit,
Good morning, I hope this message finds you well. I have a question, when submitting the DS260 at May 2024, we made a mistake and didn’t state that my wife traveled to Cuba (we listed all other countries). She traveled on October 2019 so at the time of sumitting, it was within the 5 year window. It was a short stay, less than two weeks. My question: do you think we should open the ds 260 or just tell in the interview about this mistake.
If we open the DS right know, the 5 year window will have passed so we don’t know what to do
Thanks for your help

No need to unlock. No need to bring it up in the interview.

We don’t have any data at the moment – so wait and see.

Hello Simon, what sorts of things can make a person “inadmissible” to the United States?
December 11, 2024 at 13:49
Certain crimes, some medical reasons, and so on. But I don’t feel it is worth listing all the possible issues here.
