Bonjour Simon,
I’m hella confused…
Last week the CO said to me that “all is good for me, your passport will be ready in 15days”
Then she gave that 221G letter (they already received the missing doc)
My status still shows Ready – however and the Dv chart and data, I can see some others are really on Refused 221g status I believe, and I’m not, I have missed something somewhere ?
Thank you for your advices,
Quentin

Just be patient.

At least I can my case being updated few times, there are working on it I believe 🙂
March 19, 2025 at 09:45
Hi there Simon,
I have my medical exam upcoming. I know they will do a full physical examination including a full skin check. I have some really really old self harm scars on my arm. These scars are from over 14 years ago (when I was young and stupid, probably around 13 years old) and no one even really knows about them (so I never went to see a doc or anything).
I am really really concerned that this could get me into trouble now since I know that any kind of mental disorder with such a behavior can be a reason for visa denial.
Unless I’m asked about it I surely won’t mention it. But if I am asked about it or if they see them (what they probably will) I will surely tell the truth and not tell some random made up story that gets me into trouble.
Do you have any advice on this topic or have you heard about similar cases and know the outcome? I am really concerned and thinking about this non stop.
Thank you!
March 19, 2025 at 09:58
I have been asked about this before, and as far as I know it has never caused a problem. The physicians are aware of this normally being a childhood problem, and the scars will be obviously “old”.
No need to worry about this, and as you say, answering questions honestly is best.

Dear Simon,
2025 DV selectee, high case number EU27XXX. WRW embassy posted following sentence on their website – “Due to overwhelming demand, the doctors in Poland are overbooked and facing backlogs”. Is it possible to schedule the medical before receiving 2NL? I would presume that if there is any interview scheduled for me it would be towards the end of the August/September and I’d love to do everything not to miss out on this opportunity.
March 19, 2025 at 09:46
Generally the doctors will ask for proof that you got the 2NL. The trick is to contact the doctors the moment you get the 2NL.
March 18, 2025 at 21:00
on one of your article you wrote
”However, they will (hopefully) schedule the case at the correct embassy. It can go wrong, but you will not know until you receive the 2NL.”
by that do you mean when you’re in country ”B” waiting for an interview, suddenly in your email it says your interview is in country ”A” ????
also can you save the moment and go back to your country to get that interview. thanks
March 18, 2025 at 23:22
My changing embassies article covers transfers.
March 19, 2025 at 05:20
The text i copied to you is literally from your article and thats the only point I didn’t understand. I just need a yes or no as an answer. Thank you
March 19, 2025 at 09:44
Yes that is what it means.
March 18, 2025 at 20:50
hey mr simon, i want to change to brazil, is it a good embassy, so far only 1 interview. too good to be true if u ask me, but i want your opinion.
March 18, 2025 at 23:21
This decision is yours.
March 18, 2025 at 19:14
Sir,
A friend got the visa and get married à week ago before traveling. He asked me , but I did not understant how the FJF work.
Is he suppose to fill the form once he actived his visa or what?
March 18, 2025 at 23:19
I think you might mean FTJ, but he left it stupidly late.
March 19, 2025 at 09:12
So even he apllied, it is too late before the end of FY?
March 19, 2025 at 09:43
The FTJ process isn’t really designed for the way he is using it, and frankly it is going to look very suspicious why he knew he was a DV winner almost a year ago, when through the whole process, and waited until last week to marry. But if he is sure he can show this is a genuine marriage, he could contact the embassy, and see what they say.
March 18, 2025 at 10:01
Hi dear Simon, Last night the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the US ms. Bruce has said that there is not any list for any kind of travel ban, and they are just reviewing that who is entering the US. Specifically she mention about Afg that they are not going to leave their allies. Is it kinda hope for Afghan dv lottery winner as well?
March 18, 2025 at 13:45
The red orange yellow list has been widely reported.
March 17, 2025 at 16:47
Hi Brit
Please I was interviewed on the 10th of march 2025 and was placed under 221g refusal and was updated to Ready since the 11th till now my visa status check is still at Ready please will I be issued the visa or not
March 18, 2025 at 12:30
Please Brit Simon
Do you have any answer for me
March 18, 2025 at 13:36
I know nothing about your case.
March 17, 2025 at 07:04
Hi Simon!
I traveled to the USA for the first time and stayed for 10 days to activate my Green Card since my DV visa is expiring soon. Does this mean that until my Green Card is issued and sent to me, I won’t be able to re-enter the country?
Thank you
March 17, 2025 at 10:16
When you entered the USA, you activated your LPR status, and your DV visa became proof of your status for the first 12 months, allowing the government time to send the GC. You can therefore travel without the greencard.
March 18, 2025 at 02:17
Do I need to fill out any other forms, or can I travel with just my passport?
March 18, 2025 at 13:42
No other forms. Just the passport.
March 17, 2025 at 06:02
Hello Simon!
If the travel ban is applied, is there occurring any hope for higher case numbers for EU?
Something like holy Marry or how it is called there))?
March 17, 2025 at 10:13
Travel bans could cause increases in cutoff numbers, yes.
March 17, 2025 at 15:39
for higher case numbers that could become current both consular and AOS processes will be working options or they mainly will succeed in AOS process?
March 17, 2025 at 16:26
The experience varies. AOS works pretty well with July submissions, but can be stressful. Consular processing depends on the embassy capacity, so, if the final VB jumps to high numbers (as happened last year), some embassies will be able to schedule cases with high numbers, and some won’t. It is therefore important to learn how to monitor your embassy capacity – and I published a video for that some weeks ago.
March 18, 2025 at 04:19
I monitored the capacity of my embassy(Yerevan), and it seems that they are overcoming the sufficient backlog they had previously. Also considering that in case ban is applied the Iranian cases which are scheduled in Yerevan embassy will not be scheduled, and it also will free space for EU cases, a ray of hope occurs for case numbers such as 34K, right))?
March 18, 2025 at 13:43
Yes and no. Capacity will still be taken by Iranian cases – because travel bans affect ENTRY, but do not stop interviews and issuance of visas.
March 18, 2025 at 14:35
Got you, thanks.
March 17, 2025 at 01:08
Hi Brit Simon,
On the official DV Lottery website, it was announced that the deadline for DV 2026 registration was extended to November 7 after the technical issue. However, the website now shows that the deadline was November 5. This is the second time the deadline has changed.
What will happen to the people who registered on November 6 and 7?
Thank you.
March 17, 2025 at 10:09
Their chance is the same. The entry period was enforced by the system, so ALL entries made within that period are valid.
March 17, 2025 at 20:23
I noticed the same as well. At first the deadline date on edv site did not correspond with state dep.’s. It was later altered on edv to match the dates on the latter.
Now, it’s changed again to 5th on edv website. Looks like there’s a deliberate Incongruence which might or might not affect the outcome (speculation). Remember the UK apparent omission in dv2025….
March 17, 2025 at 00:29
Looking at the CEAC Data, it appears that the percentage of “At NVC” cases increases as the number of cases increases.
And even though the percentage of “Hole” is the same, the total number of “issed” and “ready” seem to be decreasing.
Why is it that fewer people are submitting DS260?
March 17, 2025 at 00:42
Thank you, Mr. Brit, for your always informative support.
March 17, 2025 at 10:08
That is not the correct assumption. The system favors people with lower case numbers in various ways. What you are seeing is a result of that. You can assume that DS260 submission rates are pretty much level throughout the number ranges.
March 16, 2025 at 10:36
Hi Simon!
I got an interview appointment for Frankfurt. On the consulat site it says that one would need to register on the ustraveldocs website to setup the delivery option / adress. I did not schedule an appointment, only added my courier adress. It also said I would need to print a confirmation page with a barcode and bring this to the interview. However in the middle of the process when providing the delivery info, I couldnt submit further and it said something with “no slot available”. I really dont know what this means and I dont know if my info is saved now and the embassy will have access to it. Do you know what I could do now?
Thanks a lot and all the best!
March 16, 2025 at 11:02
I don’t know that system well, but it sounds like you chose an option that requests an interview slot. So go back and see if you can selected a more appropriate option.
March 16, 2025 at 14:54
Thank you Simon! Yes, I double checked a few times. I selected “Select Visa Delivery Option” and “Document Delivery Registration” as Visa Class and Post Visa Category so I thought it was the correct one.
When I chose DV instead they said I should only proceed if KCC asked me to schedule my appointment myself, so this cant be the correct one either.
The system is really a pain.
You think it will be a problem if I can only clear this up at the interview?
March 16, 2025 at 19:17
Reaction varies by embassy.
March 16, 2025 at 03:04
Hi Simon,
I am a winner of DV2025. I had an interview, and my application was approved and the counselor took my passport for visa processing. But when I checked my Visa status on CEAC, it displayed “Administrative Process” and then changed to “Ready”. What does it mean?
Thank you very much for your support
March 16, 2025 at 09:39
Be patient. The Administrative Processing stage is part of the visa printing process.
March 15, 2025 at 23:55
Hi Mr Simon
I am dv 2025 winner, CN 39k single applicant. But country(Liberia) is on the yellow draft list travel ban which is really heartbreaking 😢
1. Do you think it’s advisable to still continue this process since we don’t know what might be the outcome after the 60 days period?
2. Or should I avoid spending my little finance in savings for this program and focus on doing something else?
Thanks Sir, your advice will highly be meaningful and appreciated.
March 16, 2025 at 09:37
You aren’t current yet, so you can wait to see the executive order and perhaps see what Liberia has to do to come off the list.
March 16, 2025 at 19:30
I am also a dv2025 winner,CN39k from Kosovo should i have hopes on getting it
March 16, 2025 at 23:14
Your number should be too high, but travel bans could change that.
March 15, 2025 at 19:52
Hello sir!
I am a DV winner 2025. My name is Manoj. My case number is 7k. I am from Asia (Nepal). My name is wrong in my first letter. My name should be Manoj but it is Banoj. I have filled in the name correctly while filling DS260. Will this cause any problem in getting 2NL? Will the name be corrected when getting 2NL or not, sir?
March 15, 2025 at 20:27
They may allow the correction if there is no suspicion of fraud.
March 15, 2025 at 19:40
So sad for this BAN. Thousand of people won’t travel even if they have visa already?
What is the next now all those winners are no longer able to pursue their dream?
March 15, 2025 at 20:25
Well there is no ban yet…
March 15, 2025 at 16:03
Hello Brit Simon, I saw that the New York Times listed countries that Trump wants to ban from entering the USA. The list includes 43 countries, many of which are African countries like Mali, Mauritania, Cameroon, Angola, Zimbabwe, Congo, etc. With the ban on these countries, do you think the number of green cards for DV 2026 will increase for other African countries that are not on the list , like Egypt Moroccco Algeria …? Thank you!”
March 15, 2025 at 19:31
The ban won’t change the selectees.
March 15, 2025 at 14:36
Hello sir. Does the travel ban for these countries allow countries not on the list to call high numbers of cases for the 2025 visa lottery? I’m from South America, and my country isn’t on the travel ban list (case 2025S31XX). Thank you sir
March 15, 2025 at 19:29
Yes the travel ban could help people with high case numbers from non banned countries.
March 15, 2025 at 14:30
I just watched your live and you said that there is no potential remedy for people from the UK (if they were indeed skipped during the selection process, which we don’t know for sure).
Aren’t they just ‘holes’? If so, it means that they already have case numbers. So if the goverment made a mistake, they could just change their status from ‘hole’ to ‘selected’ and the problem is solved?
Of couse it should be done as soon as possible to let them process before the end of September.
March 15, 2025 at 19:27
It depends on whether the country is excluded before the numbers are assigned or not. We don’t know for sure.
So the only way to find out fast enough is a lawsuit – which is thousands of dollars, and who is going to spend that money with a 1 in 100 chance that they are even in the draw…
By the way, my assumption has always been that countries are excluded from the draw prior to the random assignment of numbers. That is just a guess, but the evidence is what happened when Bangladesh (and Nigeria was the same) was excluded in the draw (after DV2012 and after DV2014). You can see a large reduction in the case number ranges for their regions, where we would instead have seen a large increase in the holes, and a similar case number range being selected.
March 16, 2025 at 01:04
If it was a clerical error, I hope they fixed it for DV 2026.
March 16, 2025 at 07:54
Hi Simon, following closely for any mention of the UK and DV2025..! Sorry for the long post.
1. If we were accidentally excluded, is it possible / probable even, that the UK will also be excluded in 2026? Or do you think that they will have rectified the error? I hate the thought of being hopeful for nothing.
2. Secondly, as you say here, a lawsuit would be expensive, and per your live, it’s hard to find a remedy (thank you for your explanation – I’m the person you referenced asking about being included in a future DV). Am I right in assuming that we would not know what the proposed remedy would be BEFORE handing over a large amount of money for a lawsuit? Obviously a few thousand dollars for a high chance of receiving a green card is much more justifiable than thousands of dollars for just a 1 in 100 chance.
3. Lastly – wouldn’t it look terrible on our part to have brought a lawsuit against the US government? Would this be on our record somewhere? I love your country and would love to continue to visit with my family without feeling like an enemy..!
Thanks
March 16, 2025 at 09:50
1. Possible but improbable.
2. The thing is we would not know the outcome, and they could only return the chance we had. So – I could file a lawsuit and find I wasn’t selected (so that’s 1 in 100). They could not commit to giving a winning golden ticket to someone that brings a suit because that would be giving that person a huge benefit – which would not be lawful. So yes the only way to do it would be if a group was formed, perhaps 100 people (all who had entered) all paying a few hundred dollars knowing that the odds are that only one is selected, and perhaps NONE of them were. Plus the normal risks of losing the case etc.
3. No. I was a named witness on the DV2020 and DV2021 lawsuits. I helped gather the plaintiffs for the original lawsuit. Then I was speaking about the lawsuits constantly. Part of that happened when I was a greencard holder, and part after citizenship. I fact I have been critical of the government on channels and my blog since even before my greencard (when I was on an H1 visa). So no, it didn’t cause any problem for me. It isn’t illegal to fight for rights. Well it hasn’t been, before Trump.
March 15, 2025 at 13:53
Hi Simon!
With regards to the visa bulletin, do you still anticipate your prediction for EU to work out? I’m at 27K with Frankfurt as my embassy. I’m really worried it’s not gonna happen. And would you anticipate issues with Frankfurt being the embassy with my case number?
March 15, 2025 at 19:25
The ban could make VB numbers go higher.
March 17, 2025 at 18:59
Disregarding the ban (because it all feels pretty wonky and I don’t yet see how EU would be impacted much given the red tier – trying to be as conservative as possible in scenarios), would you still think your prediction is on track? And do you think Frankfurt would be fine? I can’t really read into whether it’s solid, safe place to be at.
March 18, 2025 at 13:40
My calculations are just math. How many visas are there, how many cases need to be interviewed to yield that number of issuances and so on. The math doesn’t change. What changes is other factors. THe government may decide not to fill the quota, or an embassy decides to stop working and so on. So – I won’t update my predictions, but it remains to be seen whether the quota gets filled or not.
Travel bans may not impact EU very much, but if AF and AS are impacted by bans, there would be a potential advantage to EU by being allowed to use more than the quota for EU.
March 20, 2025 at 16:23
Thank you. Oh boy, I remember the first live of yours I saw last year when the DV results came out. My number was a pretty safe one in the vast majority of years and this year it seems like such a tight and stressful race.
March 20, 2025 at 17:00
Hang in there. Hopefully it will work out.
March 21, 2025 at 15:05
Thank you! I hope so too. I don’t remember where you are in the San Francisco area but a family friend lives in Alameda so I’ll wave over:)
March 15, 2025 at 13:42
Hello Simon,
Will the travel ban affect the DV2026 result?
March 15, 2025 at 19:25
No
March 15, 2025 at 12:40
Hi Mr.Simon ,
Greetings!!
I am the DV lottery winner , CN AS20K 2025 .(Srilanka -Colombo ) is there any chance to get 2NL ,since administration to expect to implement the Travel banned some of countries in the region , Please advise.
March 15, 2025 at 19:25
Maybe
March 15, 2025 at 10:48
Greetings Mr Simon,
Hope all is well.
I am 2025 DV winner kindly seeking for your advice please. I am high school diploma holder who graduated since 2017.
I have a problem in my Ds 260 concerning about my primary occupation and that of my previous employment. Since during my 10th grades year up to 2024 I have been continuously helping my father to business. I do not have a document to prove what I am about to say here, but sincerely it’s a honest truth. My father have clinic and medicine store with qualify staffs, but I am not. But I have been managing some key aspects through training from my Dad who currently residing in the US.
Managing financial aspects fully! Purchasing of goods, preparing monthly pay rolls and pay staffs, Collect every daily reports, banking, managing of store room fully well to make sure everything is upto date and in stock. Make sure the clinic is well maintained by the maintenance team. Over 7yrs I have been doing this now.
Note! I have never been evolve in treatment of any patients. Because that is not my area.
Now my questions are:
1. Since I don’t have documentation for all I explained above, is it not advisable to mention about this as my primary occupation in my Ds 260?
2. I qualified through secondary education as I mentioned during the entry. But I am so concerned to say I have no primary occupation and no previous employment whereas I graduated over 7yrs ago. That might sounds like have been sitting doing nothing, and not even applying effort to make difference in life. Please, what do you think about this?
3. Please, kindly give me your advice on what should be done.
Many thanks Sir.
March 15, 2025 at 19:23
1. You list it as experience anyway.
2. That would only be a problem to explain if you had lied about working with your father, so don’t lie!
3. Honesty.
March 15, 2025 at 10:31
Hi Mr britsimon
Addis ababa received 1382 2nls upto CN 26.6k.my cn is 36k. Will Addis stop receiving 2nls before reaching my cn?Because of 7% maximum visas rule
March 15, 2025 at 19:21
It is unlikely to reach the 7%
March 15, 2025 at 09:50
Mr Britsimon
If my country is draft red list travel ban means remaining dv selectees cannot further process?
March 15, 2025 at 19:21
They will be processed, and visas can be issued, BUT people would not be allowed to enter.
https://youtu.be/l0a43TRwk8U
March 15, 2025 at 07:40
Dear Simon,
I hope you are doing well.
I recently came across some sources indicating that former President Trump may implement a full travel ban on Afghanistan and certain other Asian countries. The New York Times has also published an article regarding this matter.
If this list is accurate, does it mean that no visas will be issued for individuals from these countries once the travel ban is in effect?
March 15, 2025 at 19:18
If the ban is implemented, yes.

March 14, 2025 at 19:10
Hi Britsimon,
Is Lome embassy okay to stay at the moment pls my case is 74k
March 14, 2025 at 19:53
I dont think there embassy choice will make much difference with your case number being so high.
March 15, 2025 at 08:23
Hi Brit.
AF31.7K MRV embassy. I received my 2NL yesterday for May interview. My country Sierra Leone is on a proposed Orange list of visas restrictions
Will the visas restrictions affect us DV winners from Sierra Leone?
March 15, 2025 at 19:19
Yes, depending on the terms of the ban it could affect you.

March 15, 2025 at 10:54
Hello BritSimon,
I have a question l just read the New York travel ban list, and my question pertains to the country Zimbabwe which might be placed on Yellow list if this draft is true , does it mean Diversity visa 2026 if on Yellow list you are no longer eligible?
March 15, 2025 at 19:24
First, there is no ban yet, but if the ban is implemented winners from banned countries can still be selected, and visas issued – BUT the ban is on ENTRY.

Thank you so much for the respond. I appreciate
March 14, 2025 at 16:42
hello simon,
today i have entered to america via new york jfk as a port of entry. i must say that nobody asked me nothing. the cbp officer took the yellow envelope, stamped my passport and took the papers from the envelope somewhere and released me on my way.
i do however want to ask you something. the officer didnt stamp my passport with i551 stamp which says upon endorsement… and which state the date that i am authorized to work. insted he stamped with a regular stamp stating the date and class type but instead of b2 he wrote dv and some numbers. i am concerned why
he didnt stamped the i551 stamp. he did asked me if i am staying and i said yes but i will be back to my home country in a week. didnt realize that he was asking about staying from now on and not as i thought eventually staying in us ( i will be back within two months).
i will appreciate if you could tell me why the stamp is not the i551 stamp and if i will be able to fly back home with this stamp that i have in my passport now.
thank you.
March 14, 2025 at 19:52
Totally normal. You have the correct stamp.
March 14, 2025 at 21:14
thank you so much simon.
so now i am considered as a green card holder or not yet? (until i receive the actual plastic card)
March 14, 2025 at 21:19
You are an LPR.
March 15, 2025 at 03:51
Hello Simon, I believe you are doing well.
Please, I have some concerns and I need your assistance. If someone applies for an F1 Visa and later wins the Diversity Lottery, can he switch the F1 Visa Application to the Diversity Immigrant Visa?
If yes, will there no be any complications during the Diversity Immigrants Visa interview?
March 15, 2025 at 19:15
If you win, there are options. No need to worry about that before winning…
March 14, 2025 at 15:01
Hi Simon,
I am from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As we know, the Visa Bulletin for April was revealed on Monday, and I am expecting my 2NL because my case number is 2025AF269××. However, as of today, the 2NL has not been released. The previous 2NLs were sent out immediately after the Visa Bulletin cutoff. Why is the March 2NL delayed?
March 14, 2025 at 16:29
I don’t know.
March 14, 2025 at 11:23
Hi Brit,
What do you think of Dv selectee who qualifies through secondary education but have no work experience, and have no primary occupation?
But the individuals graduated 8yrs ago.
Will that person be affected during the interview?
Thanks.
March 14, 2025 at 13:19
No problem
March 14, 2025 at 10:50
Hi Simon,
How long does it take to receive the green card after arriving in the USA. I have paid the fee a month ago before I arrived.

Hi Simon,Hope you have a great day!
I’m the one who asking about CSPA rule for so many times sir because I’m aging out and Im beneficiaries of my dv winner mom.Sir my mom got the final appointment interview mail but my name was not there ( only my mom and dad ) (Dear —— , ——-) like that.
Is that mean I can’t go interview with them? Or what else can I do sir? Please 🙏
March 14, 2025 at 10:35
You are NOT aging out. I already told you that. Your age is frozen.
It is normal that your name is dropped from the interview and from CEAC.
March 15, 2025 at 05:48
How can i entry the interview without my name?sir
They don’t let ppl in when they don’t have name list on the email in our country. Please sir,Sorry for I don’t know about that sir.
March 15, 2025 at 19:16
Your parents could email the embassy to explain you will be attending.
Let me just say. Your greencard is depending on YOUR initiative. You need to start taking some initiative and thinking/planning for yourself.
March 17, 2025 at 02:53
What is initiative sir?Could you tell me more specifically?
Thanks alot.
March 17, 2025 at 10:13
I’ll give you an example.
Like when someone tells you something you don’t understand, you proactively research that, google it perhaps, learn the meaning, and then you can avoid asking a busy person something for a fourth time.

I’m sorry sir!

There is no ban as of today, but if he does implement the ban it will block some countries on that list.

Hola! Sudamerica caso número 2025SA3XXX es posible que me llamen a la entrevista? He mirando los videos pero no me queda claro este punto. Agradezco su respuesta
March 14, 2025 at 10:33
You have given a range that covers from 3000 to 3999. That is too large a range to comment. However, any number in that range is at risk.
March 14, 2025 at 16:25

Dear Simon, I’m exploring options for medical treatment abroad and would like to know which countries I can consider for medical visas and embassy appointments for the DV lottery. Could you also suggest countries based on treatments they specialize in and advise on transferring my DV interview from the Moroccan embassy? I’d prefer not to disclose my medical condition. Thank you! 🤗🤗
March 14, 2025 at 10:30
I have no idea about that.
March 13, 2025 at 19:38
hey simon im so frustrated i wanna change CSB, any advice? did you make a video i can watch if so please share it thanks.
March 14, 2025 at 10:29
I have an article here about changing embassies. You can use the search feature or google to find it.
March 13, 2025 at 19:34
Hi Simon,
I’m an Iranian/Canadian living in Canada, and I won the lottery in 2025 (AS73XX). Should I be concerned about March 20th? Is it safer for me to move to the U.S. this week, or am I going to be fine to travel after this time as a Canadian after interview in Montreal? I appreciate to share your thoughts on that.
Thank you very much.
March 14, 2025 at 10:29
I can’t possibly know the terms of the travel ban that is probably coming. Previously there was one provision for people that held a second citizenship, but I don’t know if that will be included or not. But if you don’t have a non immigrant visa already, then you are too late to get one, and without that you cannot adjust in the USA.
March 13, 2025 at 17:18
Hello Brit, I omitted my current occupations that can qualify me, when completing my DS-260. Now that my case has been scheduled for an interview, can I request it to be unlocked and make the necessary changes? Will it raise concern during the interview? Thank you.
March 13, 2025 at 17:41
You should have done that before being scheduled. Only the embassy can unlock it now. So you may as well do that at the interview. But if you meet the education requirement, it won’t be a problem.
March 13, 2025 at 14:52
Why hasn’t a single UK citizen been included as successfully receiving a DV lottery spot?
March 13, 2025 at 17:40
I don’t know. I have raised a FOIA to see if it is true. It is possible they screwed up the draw, and in that case, theoretically a lawsuit could be brought by UK people who entered the lottery. However the remedy is difficult.
March 14, 2025 at 09:07
What would be the theoretical outcome of the theoretical lawsuit if won? The UK being included in a future DV lottery that we otherwise wouldn’t have been eligible for?
March 14, 2025 at 10:36
That is the problem. There is no realistic remedy.

Hello Brit Simon,
The bill titled Security And Fairness Enhancement for America Act of 2025 (SAFE for America Act of 2025) , introduced on February 12, 2025, aims to eliminate the Diversity Visa (DV) Program, with the repeal set to take effect on October 1, 2025 .
Would this legislation affect DV-2026 selectees, whose applications were submitted between October and November 2024, particularly in terms of visa issuance from October 1, 2025, to September 2026?
Thank you .
*** BILLS-119hr1241
Be it enacted by the House and Senate assembled
If the SAFE for America Act of 2025 is enacted and takes effect on October 1, 2025, would DV-2026 applicants be unable to obtain diversity visas, as the program would be eliminated before the visa issuance period? What would be the significant impact on DV-2026 selectees and U.S. immigration policy in general?
March 13, 2025 at 17:37
This bill was introduced multiple times before. It never made it out of committee. I doubt this one will go far either, so there is no point in discussing something that hasn’t happened.

Hello Simon,
I have a question regarding the present home adress on my DS260.
I received my 2NL and will have an interview in May in Frankfurt.
Earlier in the process I thought that I would probably have an interview in Feb or March (non predictable process I know 🙂 ). Thats why I left my job in March and will move to my Family’s house end of April until I move to the US.
1) Will this be a problem at the interview, will it be questioned? I am working as a programmer and have a good amount of savings.
2) I am planning to pick up my visa package in person anyway but since at the time of the interview my present adress will have changed: Are there any other documents they send to you before or after the interview? What I mean is, is it important to change the adress to my families adress at the day of the interview?
I plan to move to the US as soon as I got my passport.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thank you in advance

1. Not a problem.
2. You will register with the courier with the correct address.
Relax.
March 13, 2025 at 09:48
Just sharing what everyone says on the rescheduling in CSB and it’s because of the FIFA Club World Cup that’s happening in the US in JUNE. and since Morocco is participating lots of fans are asking for visa. hopefully that will fix may’s problem.
March 13, 2025 at 11:05
Hard to imagine that causing the problem, but OK. CSB took a small number of 2NLs this week.

And the new passport has no previous stamps as an evidence. Please Mr Simon, what might be done in this situation?
On the form, the question is:
Have you traveled to any countries/regions within the last five years?
1. Yes or no in my case?
2. Why if I am to be ask this question during the interview??
2. If yes, do I need an evidence proven? Or if No, will this don’t affect my interview??
Thanks Sir.

Hello BritSimon,
I am a DV2025 winner, (EU7xxx) and I had my interview in January 2025 in Madrid (German citizen, German resident, temporarily working in Spain since a couple months, KCC was nice enough send my case to Madrid, which at this point might have been a mistake to ask for). I was put on 221g / Administrative Processing for a missing Spanish police certificate. According to the instructions on the State Department homepage and Madrid embassy police certificates are only required from the country of current residence and the country of previous residences. I am not residing in Spain and I never have. Nonetheless I went and got a Spanish police certificate the very next day and sent it to the embassy as they asked me to in the interview. Since then I am still waiting for my visa to be issued. I made a couple inquiries but their response is that they don’t know how long it will take for them to clear my 221g. It has been already two months and I am worried they will drag out this administrative processing for very long. My medical will expire in June 2025 and the DV2025 programm will end 30 Sept 2025 and I don’t want to loose my chance to get a green card. Do you have any advice for me and can you recommend a good immigration attorney that is familiar with 221g consular processing?
Thank you for everything you do for the DV community.
March 13, 2025 at 11:03
You don’t need an attorney. Just some patience. You can write to them and ask them when they will make their decision.
March 13, 2025 at 05:53
Heyy Simon,
Just did my interview yesterday in Paris – it all went well.
The CO said “all good for me, you passport will be ready within 15days”.
There was a little issue about my birth certif’, my mother’s second name have been written incorrectly and she told me send a new one with correct second name. That’s all done now, and just sent it to the embassy today. Looks im on 221g but my status is still “ready”
I was not expecting that… 😉
Other than that thank you very much for your help, patience et detailed vlog, without you I would be denied haha
Now back to Napa Valley in may !

Hi Simon,
Thank you for all your support to the DV selectees. I have a few questions:
1. My father recently passed away. Do I need to unlock my DS-260?
2. I made a typo in my Class 12 school name, but my highest qualification is a degree. Do I need to unlock my DS-260 for this?
March 13, 2025 at 11:00
1. No
2. No

Hello Simon.
I have an UZB case 14k, still at the first stage of verification(check), ds closed on May 30, at the same time UZB case 15k at the third stage of verification. What could be the problem? What steps should I take? Maybe I should reopen my ds?
March 12, 2025 at 15:27
You could just be patient considering it will be months before you are current.
March 12, 2025 at 06:52
Hi Simon, I am from Germany and I have the CN EU28XXX and I can imagine that the number will become current, e.g. due to a big irrational jump like in 2024. My concern is rather that I will not be current due to my embassy. For example, the highest CN 2024 that was processed in Frankfurt was 31K, up to this case number there were 13500 cases at NVC. However, it still didn’t look like a backlog in 2024, as the current numbers from the previous months were processed well. For this reason, I don’t want to limit my chances, so my question, as far as I understand it correctly, is that an AOS procedure only depends on whether the number is current and that in 2024 everyone up to 50000 in the EU region got the chance to carry out an AOS procedure. If it is true, is there still a chance to get a non-immigrant visa after you have filled out your DS260? for example as a student visa? If it doesn’t work out then I could imagine relocating to another EU country where the chance of becoming de facto current in the embassy is higher? What would be your advice?
Thank you very much!
March 12, 2025 at 15:26
Yes some people manage to get non immigrant visas after they have submitted the DS260. Immigrant intent suspicion is increased, but may be overcome.
Yes you might be better off at another embassy, but that choice is a choice that only you can make.
