Hi Brit! Thank you for every peace of information! We just came out of our interview and we were approved!
Now every person tells us that it is very difficult to enter the US, even with green cards, that embassies do not are the same that the entrance in the US. So we are a bit scared. Is some of this true? How can we assure our entrance if we already hace our dv green card? Would it be possible for them to send us back to Uruguay? Do you have any suggestion to make for our movimg? We are moving first days of June. Thank you very much for everything!
April 9, 2025 at 08:16
You will be fine. Relax.
April 8, 2025 at 11:07
Hi Simon,
I am planning to do my initial entry from Canada next week. I am planning to fully move by the end of summer however, I’ll likely be entering and leaving the US a handful of times before then as I move my life from one country to the other. Do you foresee any issues or additional scrutiny at the border cause of this – especially in the current environment? Or is it acceptable to be back and forth for a while? What are your thoughts on this?
April 9, 2025 at 08:15
Not a problem.
April 7, 2025 at 15:36
I saw someone saying on WhatsApp just tell KCC that you already in the targeted country before you go there so they change your embassy without losing your money, I’m sure lying to them will only bring you problems but it made me wonder what the consequences to that are.
April 8, 2025 at 08:37
Lying is not a good idea. Sometimes it will bite people in the butt.

Goodday Simon,
I lived in Cyprus 5 years ago and it’s looking a bit difficult to get the police report. Is there a way around this at the embassy?
April 7, 2025 at 01:58
Hello Simon, my brother had recently an interview in India, he is Somali citizen and at the end of the interview he was told to send “Proof of ID of non Somali entity” please what could that mean? Which type of ID is he required to send?
Thank you
April 7, 2025 at 08:55
I don’t know. That must be clarified with the embassy.
April 6, 2025 at 21:21
Simon,
Does using the same email address on the DV entry every year blocks the entrant from being selected again on the following year because his email is already recorded on the system?
I was selected for DV-2021 but ever since then I wasn’t selected again. I know it’s silly to assume or even expect to be selected again, but it’s just a question I have in my mind. I would appreciate it if you could share some experience about individuals who got selected more than once using the same email address.
April 6, 2025 at 23:46
Of course not.
April 7, 2025 at 16:00
My sister won twice(2008, 2010). She is already citizen.
My aunt won twice(2011, 2018) but she couldn’t get it.
Our destiny are different. Take it easy keep trying, you may stay in your home town and live a better life than a US CITIZEN.
April 6, 2025 at 13:45
Hello Mr. Simon, while filling out the DS-260 form, I entered my registered addresses incompletely and incorrectly. Do you think I should have my file reopened and corrected? Or would it be sufficient to take the address registration form I received from the municipality to the consulate?
April 6, 2025 at 19:57
The address can be updated at the interview.
April 6, 2025 at 02:36
Hi Simon I was late in changing the address on my D260 my chargability was Kenya but I have a duo citizenship of Kenya and Rwanda. My number is 16k which has been current since December is there a way to change to Kigali as I hold both citizenship. If yes how do I go about it?
April 6, 2025 at 10:04
It may be too late now.

April 7, 2025 at 01:43
I read how to change embassies’ articles and decided to write to both and see the outcome. I hope they will not trash my request. I will be contented with any reply from them
April 5, 2025 at 13:28
Good morning Simon! I am DV2025 winner, EU23k. I will do AOS. I’ve wathched all your videos for DV2025 and you think the EU would probably reach something around 26k. Do you believe that 23k AOS is safe enough to get the GC until the end of fiscal year without facing any visa exhaustion issue?
April 6, 2025 at 10:03
Yes – as safe as we can say.
April 5, 2025 at 10:55
Is anyone received 2NL at the end of March Sir?
April 5, 2025 at 11:24
Just Tunisia as far as I know.
April 5, 2025 at 06:06
Hello Simon, My DS 260 was reopened.I would like to make changes to the location where I will do my interview
which part of the DS 260should I make those changes?
2. Should I request them to reopen my children DS 260 too given that we are travelling to Kigali and we will do our interview from there.
3.Given that my present address is in Kenya should I put Rwanda as my present address ?
April 5, 2025 at 09:26
You change the address for the main applicant.
April 6, 2025 at 10:25
I haven’t understood.Am currently living in Kenya but will be travelling to Rwanda in the month of June.I am expecting my number to become current this month. Thus my interview might be in June that is why am travelling to Rwanda on the same.
April 11, 2025 at 21:40
Why did you travel from Kenya 🇰🇪 to come here Rwanda 🇷🇼 to do your interview?consular officer may ask?if it’s work related do you have offer letters?
April 4, 2025 at 22:47
Dear Simon,
1) I understood that after the interview and having received the visa, I must enter the US within six month from date of medical exam. Do I understand correctly, this entrance is for the purpose of registration/activation and I could theoretically leave again after one day in order to get things organized back home?
2) from entering first time until receiving green card, what is the approximate duration?
3)from entering first time until receiving social security card, what is the approximate duration? Or both SSC and green card come together?
Cheers
April 4, 2025 at 23:29
1. Yes
2. Varies greatly
3. 2 to 3 weeks.
April 4, 2025 at 14:11
Hi Simon
I have decided to move my case from Nairobi to Abu Dhabi following the delays with the Nairobi embassy. My case number is 2025AF38**. I am writing to inquire on the Abu Dhabi embassy and what numbers they are currently at in terms of scheduling. I am also waiting on my DS260 form to be unlocked so that I can change my address and then ask that they change my interview location next.
Thank you.
April 4, 2025 at 23:28
You can check xarthisius’ site for data. Act fast.
April 4, 2025 at 13:56
Hi, Simon. Q: Do I qualify to play in the DV lottery if my high school diploma was obtained as a private candidate, since I was homeschooled after completion of year 9? If yes, when completing the DS-260 form, how do I address the “name of institution”? (On my certificate it only states the name of the city i sat the exams).
April 4, 2025 at 23:26
Homeschooling can create a risk of refusal.
April 4, 2025 at 11:38
Hello Mr. Simon
I trust you are doing okay.
I want to ask please. I’m a solo winner of the dv 25 so I’m going alone. Do I need to get sponsors or do I need for file I-864?
April 4, 2025 at 23:25
Wise to have an i134, not 864.
April 4, 2025 at 11:31
Hi Brit Simon thanks for your wonderful work may the good Lord long your days
Please am Dv2025 winner went for my interview on 10th March 2025 but on my SHS certificate my date of birth instead of 1992 it was 1993 so I went for affidavits and gazette to support my documents but the consultant said everything is fine but corrected my passport and my original SHS certificate and said you’re refused for now which is 221g but they will contact me so about 3 hours or so they send me an email to provide my Basic Educational Certificate scores through the email they provided so I just do that scan my BECE scores to them before then my visa status was at refusal but after sending it changed to READY from on the 12th march to 1st April they updated my visa status to Administrative Processing on 3rd April too when I checked it was updated but still at AP please am I likely to get issued or what thanks
April 4, 2025 at 23:24
Yes you will see issued soon.
April 4, 2025 at 11:22
Hi britsimon
My host has change his address how do I go about this should I change it in my ds260?
April 4, 2025 at 23:24
Change the address at the interview
April 4, 2025 at 09:04
Hey Simon, I have a question regarding the SSN and green card adress. I will be moving to Illinois as soon as I get my passport back. I only know someone in California, who would provide me their address where the ssn and green card will be sent. However I’m not sure if I can pick it up personally. I know I need my SSN asap but I will stay in Hotel or Airbnb at the beginning and I dont know what would be the best way to handle this situation.
1) Would you recommend that the person I know in Cali would send me these documents via post mail to a hotel or Airbnb? or
2) Do I need the physical ssn document or would a photo scan or so be enough? (Until I have my own address)
3) I also thought about taking a lawyer in Illinois and ask them up front if they have a possibility to provide an address for me, would u reccommend this and do you know if this will be a valid address I can provide at the interview? Or does the address need to belong to a “general” person?
I would appreciate your advice!!
Thank you!!
April 4, 2025 at 23:23
Option 1
April 5, 2025 at 00:44
Thank you! So you reckon it’d be safe to send it to an Airbnb?
Sorry I am just over worried.
April 5, 2025 at 09:25
No, don’t use an Airbnb. I have a service for receiving GC and SSN if you don’t have anyone else to trust.
April 5, 2025 at 11:59
I meant I do have someone for the initial sending but my question is what the best way is to then receive my documents from that friend of mine. Because they live somewhere else. Since I will be staying in a Hotel or Airbnb at first. How can the friend send the documents to me when I dont have a physical address at the beginning. Or maybe rent a PO?. What would be the best way?
Thanks a lot!
April 6, 2025 at 10:03
Your friend can send a FEDEX envelope with an instruction to hold the package at your local Fedex envelope. You then have 7 days to pick it up.
April 4, 2025 at 04:18
I I’m a 2025 DV lottery winner from Monrovia, my case number is AF 67k plus and my case is currently at KCC.
I check on the CEAC Data.
The are 29609 case before and 4470 after me in the AF region. That yield approximately 48602 people before and 7338 after me
Bass unpon this information do I have a chance of getting an interview.
April 4, 2025 at 23:21
A low chance.
April 4, 2025 at 04:15
Hi Simon,
I just wanted to say that I got my visa approved. I left a couple of questions during the last 11 months since I found out about being selected for the DV lottery, and all your comments, videos, and everything else were super helpful. I wanted to say thank you for the support! Also wishing everyone good luck in the coming months regarding their DV cases. My case number is EU13xxx, and my embassy is Belgrade
All the best,
Milos
April 4, 2025 at 23:20
Congratulations!
April 4, 2025 at 00:24
Dear, Mr. Simon.
Firstly, thank you so much for everything you are doing for us!
You do incredible and valuable work, we all appreciate this.
I would like to ask you an advice about DS-260, I am trying to understand if I made a mistake or not.
The form asked for Name and Surname in a separate field (must be the same as in the passport)
And then it has one field only for “Full Name in Native Language”, ss because the form doesn’t say exactly what should go first name or surname for some reason I put the name in native language first. (this is usually what we do in Ukraine – name first)
So what happens in DS-260 summary we have:
Name Provided: “Bill , Gates” (should be correct as in form is 2 separate fields)
Full Name in Native Lang: “Гейтс Білл” (worry about this, not the same order as line above)
Do you think I need to as tok unlock my DS-260 form and adjust this OR this is not a mistake and I should less worry about such a thing?
Thank you so much!
All the best to you and your family!
April 4, 2025 at 23:20
I’m not 100% clear on what you did, but the names are important so unlock if needed.
April 3, 2025 at 18:56
hey simon i learned the method of counting interviews per thousand from your stream, however i dont get why even tho there are holes, the number dont drop on interviews per thousand in csb for example ? i still ranges from 35 to 45 on average
April 3, 2025 at 22:39
There are holes throughout the number ranges that are already accounted for.
April 3, 2025 at 04:39
Good morning Simon
I really want to know please. I won the dv lottery solo. So I don’t have any dependency. Do I still need to file for the i-134?
April 3, 2025 at 16:20
Possibly.
April 2, 2025 at 23:34
Hi Brit,
I appreciate your efforts and your kind gesture toward DV winners.
My case number is 2025AS8XXX, and my interview will be at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
When do you expect the 2NL to be issued?
Thanks!
April 3, 2025 at 16:16
I don’t know, but wait and see.
April 2, 2025 at 18:14
Hello Simon
I am a business and I often import stuff from my neighboring country to sell in my country for more profit so I decided I have to start going there in person so I can buy way cheaper. I got in contact with some agents that said they could give me an ID of the neighboring country so I can go in and out of the country freely but instead they gave me a refugee card. I returned it to them but now I wonder if it’s going to appear in the refugee database and if it will affect me in my dv lottery interview.
April 2, 2025 at 21:30
I dont think that would cause any problem.
April 3, 2025 at 04:35
Hello Simon 👋
I hope you’re doing well today. Please I want to ask this as I really do not understand how it works. If the visa bulletin says my case number will be current in June, can I still get my 2nl before June?
April 3, 2025 at 16:19
Numbers that are made current for June interviews will receive the 2nl in April.
April 2, 2025 at 17:55
Hello Simon. I hope you are doing okay. I’ve been following you for a long time and I appreciate what you do for di winners.
I’m a dv winner 2025AF41k
When do you think I will get my 2nl?
April 2, 2025 at 21:29
You will be current either this month, or next. The timing of your 2nl depends on your embassy as well as being current.
April 2, 2025 at 14:10
Hello sir, I am DV24 winner, LPR since October 2024. Still haven’t received a GC by mail. (Fee paid in September) USCIS doesnt even responded to an e-request… Any advice on what to do, please? Many thanks.
April 2, 2025 at 15:11
The only thing you can do is contact uscis
April 2, 2025 at 08:55
Hi Simon, I received my passport with visa today. A big Thanks to You. “Class A or B(TB) Req. ATTN. of USPHS at POE.” This is written as Annotation in the visa and I’m a bit worried. I had a successful medical examination. Please could this lead to problems at the POE?
April 2, 2025 at 13:45
Not a problem. You can google it.
April 2, 2025 at 06:29
Hi Brit, I hope all is well with you. I have one query. I entered an incorrect birth date for my mother in previous DS160s and DS260. The reason I took the date from a very old marriage certificate since my mother possessed neither a birth certificate nor a passport at that time. But now I have entered the correct birth date from her passport in my DS260. I have all the documents to prove it. Is it going to create a problem for me?
April 2, 2025 at 13:44
Probably not.
April 2, 2025 at 05:21
Greeting’s Simon from nepal,
Is marrying while being current a risk?
It’s a genuine relationship of years and we have pictures and chats to support it. Previously we were unable to marry because of cultural issues as one of my partners relatives had passed away . before submitting ds 260 and after that also. Now it’s all clear and we can marry and are in dilemma of what to do as we are current. Thinking of informing the embassy and going to the interview together. But we also want to be on the safe side. Please help. How to prepare for this?
April 2, 2025 at 13:44
Get married immediately! Stop making cultural issues and life changing impact to your case. If you have at least got married there is a chance to add your spouse even when scheduled.
April 3, 2025 at 02:23
Thank you for the reply sir.
We are going current in this upcoming visa bulletin. Do you know of similar genuine cases, people marrying while being current? What are the chances? How much delay can it cause? We might be scheduled for June/July so hope the delay doesn’t prolong as everything gets cancelled after September right? Can the delay be for a month or two by adding a spouse at the last moment ?
Also I found out that the embassy has not been able to unlock the form even when informed for some months now so the option is to go together to an interview just informing the embassy prior and they give you limited time to add the partner. How risky is all these things ?compared to just going to the interview solo as it is, as we don’t wanna ruin the chance by doing last moment changes too.
April 3, 2025 at 16:18
Every day you waste is making this more complicated. Stop procrastinating.
April 1, 2025 at 13:29
hi brit
am a dv2025 sinner from syria and I live there , I am thinking of emailing KCC offering them the help to verify my eligibility (security wise) to Inter the U.S , as they might have challenges in that prosses due to the current situation in syria.
I could offer providing them with a recommendation letters signed from INGO’s that I was participating with as a humanitarian worker and volunteer ,such as UNISEF ,TDH-Switzerland and a local NGO that I have been working with since tow years. also from the Dean .
do you think that would be helpful to my case
my CN 2025AS8900.
much appreciation.
April 1, 2025 at 14:24
As was explained in Telegram, this is pointless. KCC don’t adjudicate cases. So – take proof to the interview to present if asked.
April 1, 2025 at 11:43
A big thank you to the King Brit Simon for the guidance.
I am currently in the States.
Quick question: how do i change my address for the green card to be posted to me? I changed my host
2. What are some few tips you have for new immigrants?
Thanks
April 1, 2025 at 14:23
1. Generally they will send it to the address they knew of in the DS260 unless you updated it at the POE. You can update online, but the GC might go to the old address.
2. I just posted a tip about finances today, and in that video description I linked a video about credit cards.
April 1, 2025 at 07:08
Hi brits,
If one of the accompany member commits a crime, after filling DS260. And his court hearing is in August. Will it affect the interview.
April 1, 2025 at 14:21
Probably not.
April 1, 2025 at 05:21
Hi BritSimon
My student visa was approved. My case number is 25k from Nrb embassy. Do you think adjustment of status will be a good option or I should wait and see if Nrb will resume?
April 1, 2025 at 14:21
AOS would be a good safe option as long as you are entering the USA soon.
March 31, 2025 at 15:04
Good day, please those who won the lottery and chose Lagos Nigeria for interview, will KCC still issue 2NL?
April 1, 2025 at 14:20
No. Those people MUST choose a different embassy.
April 2, 2025 at 04:03
Thanks for your response.
Please how do I change embassy from Lagos Nigeria because my number is AF19*** and KCC said it’s not possible for them to unlock our DS 260 as our number is now current.
April 2, 2025 at 13:42
You may have ruined your chances. Your only option is to plan to move to another country, then get the embassy in that country to agree to take your case, and contact KCC on you behalf.
March 31, 2025 at 13:33
Hello Brit, I want to thank you so so much for your support and education on blog. I was interviewed, approved & issued last week from Accra.
My question now is if I enter US can I look for job and start working without my SSN & GC since it will take several weeks or months before to been issued?
April 1, 2025 at 14:20
You don’t need your GC to start working. You might need your SSN – so the SSN, not the GC, is the most critical thing. Typically that arrives within 3 weeks, but you can visit the SSA and get your number as soon as 2 weeks if needed.
March 31, 2025 at 05:52
Greetings Mr Simon!
My case number is 54k Nairobi, According to the current Visa Bulletin,
1. Do I stand a chance for interview?
2. Do you recommend changing embassy from NRB to Kigali?
Thanks
March 31, 2025 at 11:33
1. I don’t know what NRB will do in the near future.
2. I leave that for people to decide for themselves.
March 31, 2025 at 00:53
Hello sir.
When you write to KCC about an update on your current address.
1. How long will they take to unlock your Ds 260?
2. When they unlock it,do they write you a message on the same?
Thanks so much.
March 31, 2025 at 11:32
1. 1 or 2 weekdays typically.
2. Yes
March 30, 2025 at 22:08
Dear Simon,
First of all, I want to express my sincere thanks for all your invaluable support to us—it is truly appreciated.
I am reaching out regarding my Diversity Visa case, with a case number of 2025EU33***. Given the high case number and the current low bulletin number, I am wondering if it would be worth submitting my DS-260 at this stage.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Once again, many thanks for all your help!
March 31, 2025 at 11:05
Well, it’s a tough choice.
The downside of submitting a DS260 is potential impact to any future non immigrant visa application. It doesn’t mean you can’t get an NIV, but it might make it a little more likely to be denied (because you will have shown immigrant intent).
On the other hand there is a chance of a last minute jump in the VB that makes you current, and if you are at certain embassies, that can pay off. You would have to be at a low volume embassy that has no backlog.
About the latest you could leave this decision is after you see the May VB, but that is too soon to know what will happen in the final VB in July, so you will have to make your choice without being certain…
April 6, 2025 at 15:45
Dear Simon,
I completely agree with your observations.
For context, I was residing in the US under an L1 visa until two years ago. I am uncertain whether I may need a Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) in the future. Do you know if submitting a DS-260 form would have any potential impact on a future ESTA application?
The embassy I would most likely engage with is in Abu Dhabi, which, as I understand, currently experiences low volumes and has no significant backlog. Right?
Given the current trajectory of developments this year, and considering that the process has been more “linear,” I anticipate that it is unlikely my case number (EUR33K) will become current unless they adopt an approach similar to last year, such as raising the Visa Bulletin (VB) to higher numbers or even making it current.
Thank you once again for your assistance, Simon.
April 6, 2025 at 19:59
The DS260 can have an impact on future NIVs, and *might* affect an ESTA application.
Please spend some time studying how to evaluate embassy performance – I created a video to explain it.
Yes your number is in a risky range.
March 30, 2025 at 18:36
when you change the embassy before curent, do you get asked for residency by kcc or the embassy.
March 30, 2025 at 19:38
Sometimes.
March 30, 2025 at 20:05
no i mean who asks? is it the embassy? or the kcc ?
March 30, 2025 at 20:51
Kcc. But if you unlock and change your address, that doesn’t normally require proof.
March 30, 2025 at 14:29
I’m a DV winner Yaoundé Embassy Cameroon, case number AF325** . I haven’t received my 2NL yet what might be the Problem Brit
March 30, 2025 at 17:18
Take a look at the data. I showed how to do that this morning on my live session.
March 30, 2025 at 11:35
Hi Simon!
Thank you for everything, all your advises during the DV process, without your blog I would be certainly denied. I’m going tomorrow to collect my passport and other papers!
Flying to SF Bay Area next may from Paris
(Hope there’s not gonna be issues at the border with these people detained stories)
thank you !
March 30, 2025 at 17:17
You’ll be fine. BEST OF LUCK!
March 31, 2025 at 09:31
I just came back from collecting my passport this morning, and there’s obviously an little issue…
My first name, Quentin is all correct but my second name Jean Baptiste is spelled with a “mistake” the last E is not fully printed as it’s too long on one line, so the E is more like an I. Do you think it’s a problem ?
March 31, 2025 at 11:34
Check with the embassy.
March 31, 2025 at 12:22
Looks like it’s too long but yes I’ll them to check
April 1, 2025 at 10:23
All right, so AVITS told me there’s no problem at all, just a too long second name and too close with “M” for masculine gender.
They don’t look like stressed about that
April 1, 2025 at 14:21
OK good.
March 29, 2025 at 16:13
Hello Sir, and thank you for this valuable website! I have a quick question about the I-693 form.
I completed the medical examination and received my sealed I-693 form in February. I am still waiting for my CN to become current (it may probably take 2 months), but yesterday I realized something on current I-693 form on USCIS website. There is an expiration date on right top corner, which is 03/31/2025.
I was told that the expiration date is not the applicant’s concern, but the edition date is. Do you know from the previous years if the USCIS may upload another form with the same edition date but different expiration date, which causes no trouble at all for me, or if they may upload another I-693 with different edition date, which may cause a huge trouble for me here because of an outdated edition issue.
I wanted to get the form earlier and be ready because of “Effective April 4, 2024, any Form I-693 that was properly completed and signed by a civil surgeon on or after Nov. 1, 2023, does not expire. You can use it indefinitely as evidence that you are not inadmissible on health-related grounds.” statement but now I feel a little bit scared…
Thanks!

So you have all the information you need about the April 4 policy, so really I don’t understand why you are worried. It seems like you are not paying attention to what is being said in the policy.

So the edition date will be the same even after the March 31st if the USCIS uploads another form with a different expiration date, is that correct? I guess I did not explain my concern very well, but I was wondering “what will happen to my I-693 form that I am still keeping to send in my AOS package in the following months if the USCIS decides to change the edition date on I-693 form?”

You know what will happen. You quoted the policy…

Please how are new born babies able to have their ds 260 Because Embassy always says go back and add the child whilst the “add applicants” button is no longer available on the portal after the interview appointment. I’ve heard people say during the interview the Consular asked them to go and create ds260 for their child. Pls how do we go about that cuz the embassy only unlock ur case however you don’t have access to the “add applicants anymore

The embassy can unlock for the principal and that should give access to add applicant. In any case, communication about that should be with the embassy (assuming you are scheduled).

Hi Brit,
We entered USA in September 2024 with DV stamp. I received my green card after few weeks but my wife still hasn’t received hers. Her visa stamp expired in February. We are planning to travel internationally. Do you know if she can enter back safely or should we cancel our plans? We were planning to visit Saudi Arabia and Turkey. We are citizens of Kazakhstan.
Thank you.

When you entered your immigrant visa was endorsed, meaning it could act as your “temporary greencard” for up to 12 months. So you should be fine.
Of course you should be chasing up the greencard as well.

Thank you! Given recent news on detentions and refusals of entry at the border, do you think we can be affected? I am worried and thinking if we should cancel our plans especially that we are planning to visit Saudi Arabia and Turkie…

In general, LPRs (greencard/endorsed immigrant visas) are not as affected by the current stuff going on. It’s not impossible, just not likely.

Hello Simon, I would like to move my case from Nairobi to Kigali before my number becomes current 2025AF 36***.I would like to increase my chances of being interviewed because currently the Nairobi Embassy has not sent the 2NLs from January. How should I write the email to them given that I am only moving the embassies because of that?
Will they allow me to make the changes
2.I am a single mother of 3 minor children. We broke up with my partner(we never got married). He moved to the USA 6 years ago through a visitor’s visa and never came back. What do I do that I only know he lives in Seattle I don’t have his address and he doesn’t pick up my calls.I believe I should have his consent allowing me to travel with the children. What do I do.I do not receive any support from him.

1. I have an article about moving embassies – read that.
2. You might need a letter from a lawyer or court explaining that you have sole custody.
