Dear Simon, thank you so much for the great job educating people about DV. Since I am from an Asian country on the travel ban list, I am thinking about getting a passport from another country. In case I can get the passport in time, can I just walk into the embassy with that passport or do I need to unlock and update it in DS-260? Does the new passport also have to be issued by another Asian country?
June 11, 2025 at 11:06
If you get another passport, you should unlock your DS260 and add that nationality there. It doesn’t matter which country.
June 11, 2025 at 00:28
Dear Simon,
I am filling out the DS-260 and currently live in the UAE. However, I am considering listing my country (Spain) as my current address due to delays at the Abu Dhabi embassy and my high case number (2025EU34K).
Would this be advisable, even though I have stated in the employment section that I work in the UAE? I have watched your videos and you mentioned that. Or would it be your recommendation to list the address accurately but pick the embassy I want instead.
Not sure how easy would be to do this with an email to KCC.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
Thanks for your advice.
June 11, 2025 at 11:05
You are filing incredibly late. You need to file immediately.
Yes you could list Spain, using an address in Spain as your current address. If asked at the interview you can say that you split time between UAE and Spain.
If you list the UAE address, they will assign you to UAE embassy, and there will be no chance to move.
Now -mueve el culo!!!

Hi BritSimon,
I have been selected for the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery this year. My country of chargeability is Somalia. However, I understand that, as of June 4, 2025, there is a full suspension of entry into the United States for Somali nationals—both immigrants and nonimmigrants—based on the recent executive proclamation concerning countries of identified concern.
In addition to my Somali citizenship, I also hold Ethiopian nationality, which is not affected by this suspension.
Will I remain eligible to proceed with the DV process and obtain a visa under my Ethiopian nationality, even though my original chargeability is Somalia?
June 11, 2025 at 11:00
Yes, as long as you have an Ethiopian passport and travel on that passport.
June 10, 2025 at 23:02
Hello Simon. Thank you for the great job you’re doing.
We submitted our ds260 as a couple with a child. However, the child will not be traveling with us at this time. Is there any necessity of taking the child with us to the interview appointment.
What will you advise? We actually got married after the dv results, but have been living together since July 2022.
June 10, 2025 at 23:06
You don’t have to include the child, but you should know it could take several years the get a visa for the child later.
June 10, 2025 at 23:53
Alright, thank you.
Please sir, can another lawful citizen of the US file for your affidavit of support form other than your host?
June 11, 2025 at 10:59
Yes
June 10, 2025 at 22:51
Dear Simon,
How should we respond to the following question on the DS-260 form? Is it significant, or would any answer be acceptable?
“Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?”
I understand that the required vaccinations will be addressed during the medical examination, but at this moment, we do not have the necessary documentation.
Also, when it comes to the dates of education and employment, do they need to be absolutely accurate, or are approximate dates acceptable? In other words, could using approximate dates lead to a denial?
Thanks for everything you do.
June 10, 2025 at 22:58
1. No
2. Best guess is fine
June 10, 2025 at 18:38
Dear Simon,
Hope you are fine. Do you think i might have a chance for September VB, 2025AS 148xx.
Thanks,
June 10, 2025 at 20:47
Maybe
June 10, 2025 at 16:50
Hi Simon,
Thanks as always for your help. I’m still hopeful that the 2025 OC 1751-1800 range will become current in September. However, I also want to manage my expectations and be realistic about what it means to have a September interview and I wanted to ask you the following questions (hopefully, they’re not too redundant and can be helpful for other readers as well):
1. My husband and I will make sure to be extra-prepared with regards to the documents that we need to bring to the interview, so as to avoid being asked for additional documents after the interview, which you have explained can be very risky for Sep interviews. Any other important logistics/considerations to keep in mind for Sep interviews?
2. Our interview will be in Montreal and thanks to your explanation on how to check consulate performance, I saw that Montreal seems to be doing okay, last time I checked. If the last visa bulletin will have big jumps across all regions like last year though, does that put us at a much greater risk of not being scheduled because Montreal is a consulate that schedules interviews for people across all regions? Or will that not be a big disadvantage? (Sorry, I’m a bit confused about how that works).
3. Is it likely for one to be scheduled for a September interview and being approved at the interview, but then not being issued a visa because the quota for the OC region has been hit before the visas can be printed on the passports? Or showing up at the interview but being turned away because he quota for the OC region has been hit just before the interview date? I’m confused by this as well, because I think I saw you write that they are close to hitting the OC quota this year, but also that they are unlikely to run out of visas this year, so I wanted to ask clarification about this.
Thanks again very much!
June 10, 2025 at 18:35
1. No – you have the right idea.
2. It’s really a matter of capacity. It’s hard to answer the capacity for MTL as non of the embassies have been fully stretched this year.
3. No that’s not likely. Not worth worrying about at this point.
June 11, 2025 at 15:45
Okay, thank you for your response. Fingers crossed that MTL will have the capacity to handle most or all cases then. Have they been okay at handling Sep interviews in previous years that you know of? I don’t think we should consider transferring right? Our only viable alternative would probably be Sydney, Australia. Thanks again!
June 11, 2025 at 16:40
You should be OK in MTL if your number goes current.
June 10, 2025 at 16:34
Hi Simon
Thanks for all the updates. It helped me a lot. My son is in Washington now,am from Oceania region. Just Wanted to know that can he travel outside us or he has to wait till a year.
And also how long will it take for him to apply for us parents as he is the only child.
Thanks
June 10, 2025 at 18:10
He can travel anytime, he should just not be out of the country for more than 6 months.
Once he gains citizenship (which takes about 5 years) he will be able to sponsor parents.
June 10, 2025 at 14:55
Hello Simon.
What do you think will happen with South America in DV2026 with the ban to Cuba.
Thank you for your time
June 10, 2025 at 15:42
I don’t know.
The thing is, Cuba was ineligible to participate in DV2026, but we know that “some” Cubans have been included in the draw, but probably not as many as in previous years. BUT we don’t know the number – and that impacts whether it needs to be resolved or not.
June 10, 2025 at 12:41
Hi Simon, Can we assume that your FOIA request was unsuccessful, because the UK lawsuit is started? Have you received any response or are you still waiting?
June 10, 2025 at 14:12
They have not answered the FOIA. But the point of the lawsuit is
1. To find out if they screwed up (and I am not certain they did for both DV2025 and DV2026)
2. To be able to effect a remedy that does no harm to others but returns fairness to those that entered from the UK.
June 10, 2025 at 11:44
Hello Brit
I’m just trying to seek info on about main applicant getting married after receiving news of winning the DV Lottery and before lodging DS 260 application. Do you think it’s okay to do this or should main applicant wait for her to make it first to the US and then go back to her country to get married to partner of 3 years.
June 10, 2025 at 14:08
Get married ASAP and submit as married.
June 10, 2025 at 11:30
Hi Brit
CN 12200. 2025
Asia will move atleast around my CN range Or expect it will current in last VB ?
I’m bit doubtful about it because of this slow moving VB . Please provide your idea about this
Thank you for your time sir
June 10, 2025 at 14:05
Of course – silly to ask really.
June 10, 2025 at 11:12
Hi Brit,
Our case number (2025OC16XX) just became current for August, and we’re proceeding with Adjustment of Status (AOS).
1. Is there any concern about the OC regional quota being exhausted before our green cards are issued? Or once a case is current, is the only remaining concern the overall 52,000 global cap?
2. We’re planning to file shortly to take advantage of the early filing allowance. However, we’ve heard that USCIS lockboxes sometimes reject early AOS filings due to unfamiliarity with the DV-specific rules. Would including a cover letter referencing the applicable guidance be advisable to help prevent rejection?
Thanks so much for your time and help!
June 10, 2025 at 14:05
1. No problem.
2. Yes – I believe Sm1smom still recommends that cover letter. You are using her guide – right?
June 10, 2025 at 16:30
Yes
June 10, 2025 at 10:49
Hello Brit ,
Guess you feel good.
I am a DV 2025 lottery winner and I received my immigrant visa in May 2025. However, on May 31st, 2025, I received an email from your office stating that I needed to log in and register again due to some changes in the application process. I later realized that the message might not have been intended for me.
Still, I logged in and completed the registration (although the system already showed me as registered). I did not make any payments or take any further actions.
Now I am worried that I may have done something wrong, or that I should not have logged in or registered at all. Please tell me !
June 10, 2025 at 11:05
I have no idea what you are talking about.
June 10, 2025 at 12:17
Dear Applicant,
The U.S. Embassy in Tirana is pleased to announce the transition to a new visa appointment system on May 30, 2025.
Through the new service, visa applicants and customers will be able to apply for a U.S. visa, pay any required visa fee, schedule a visa interview appointment, and receive document delivery services. All visa appointments scheduled before May 19, 2025 remain valid.
If you are a visa applicant and paid your nonimmigrant visa application fee before May 19, 2025 follow the steps below to create an account in the new visa system using your existing visa application record.
Go to https://www.ustraveldocs.com/, select your country in the desired language, select “Nonimmigrant Visa” or “Immigrant visa” (depending on your application type) then click on the green button “Visa Login”.
To claim your existing visa application record, you will need to validate the Date of Birth and Passport Number used in the visa application, register a unique email address (it can be the same one used on the previous system if this email address was used only on one account, if not, you will be required to provide a new unique one) and click the “Claim” button.
If the Date of Birth and Passport Number does not match any existing active record an error message will be displayed. If you consider this to be a system error, please contact our visa service desk at: https://ustraveldocs.com/al/en/contact-us.
Once you have successfully claimed your existing visa application, please click on “Sign up now” to complete your registration form using the unique email address provided on the previous step.
Once the account has been created, log in clicking on the “Sign In” and follow the application steps.
Thank you.
U.S. Visa Helpline
It is this email and I register .
June 10, 2025 at 14:11
So – do you have your passport back with the visa in it?
June 10, 2025 at 14:18
Yes I have
June 10, 2025 at 14:19
But I register because I was confused about this email.
June 10, 2025 at 08:13
Greetings Simon
Like you said all hopes are not lost till the end but this time around we are losing it i pray let hailmary be are helper with 2025AF58k. It’s very aching with what KCC are doing
June 10, 2025 at 04:59
Hey Simon. I’ve just seen your last video about the new banned countries and I’m now wondering whether could that create a chance for a second draw or not, what do you think?
June 10, 2025 at 05:44
he already explained that people in banned countries would still get their interviews therefore there spots are already secured and there won’t be a second draw for this reason
June 10, 2025 at 10:12
No. The reason for second draws is when the selectee numbers from the first draw are very low. Since overselection is the norm, a few thousand blocked selectees doesn’t make much difference. So it is simply a question of whether the year is OVER over selected, or just a bit overselected. We won’t know that until August.
June 10, 2025 at 04:42
Hi Simon, What is the exact number of visas allocated for Europe, and what percentage of this number is for AOS?
June 10, 2025 at 10:10
In DV2025 it is 17872 – but that number can be exceeded by reallocation from a region underfilling.
AOS doesn’t get a special allocation – it is all part of the quota.
June 10, 2025 at 04:31
I can see last year for OC they added a massive 700 for Septembers numbers. My assumption was 2025 would follow a similar trend to 2024 but now the last few months have been completely different. I am number OC1878 (so close yet so far, I was HOPING august would be me, but it is not) and I’m doing all this research to try understand the total allocation they have given OC for 2025 and I’ve read some things that say 1550 but then others that say it’s not published. I guess my question is, do we know the total allocation that is supposed to be given to OC for 2025 and as a long shot, could you see them adding a larger number in for the final month of Septembers bulletin or does it seem unlikely based on how little they have been budging it over the past few months?
I’ve seen there are an odd 900 cases before me, but from what I’m ready there has only been 600 odd visas granted al far and a few hundred in processing. Following you has been a saviour in understanding a lot more so thank you!
June 10, 2025 at 10:08
We know the quota for each region and for OC it is 849. 627 have already been issued, with June and July cases already scheduled. So – they can hit the quota with little or no VB increase.
The question is really whether there will be a “hail mary” final VB because quota is left unused from one of the big regions. That is what caused those wild last month VBs. Will that happen this year – I don’t know. Chaos is hard to predict.
June 10, 2025 at 04:21
Hello brit,
I am from a ban country for dv25 (Sierra Leone) ,but my parents are from guinea which is not a ban country. By law of that country I am citizens too .so I can easily go and get the passport but my fear is two things:
1.I didn’t included it on the ds 260
2. Am afraid if the embassy will still schedule us.
I need your guidance if I want transfer the case to other embassy how to do it.My case has in stage 4 since January. Please sir!
June 10, 2025 at 10:03
1. WHY NOT???? Why do people make life harder by not following simple instructions????? Get the passport Now.
2. You are in stage 4 so you have to see if the embassy schedule you.
June 10, 2025 at 03:55
Hello Brit!
Looking at the new Visa Bulletin , I think there is still hope for my wife case number EU23xxx. We have completed DS-260 since last year , do we have anything else to do , or should we reopen it? Our embassy is TIA , does it have delays or is it ok?
June 10, 2025 at 10:02
You will be fine at TIA. Relax.
June 10, 2025 at 03:54
Mr. Simons, do you think we might have a chance for September, case number MOROCCO 42.5K
June 10, 2025 at 09:48
Maybe.
June 10, 2025 at 14:25
OH, what makes you say (Of course – silly to ask really.) for another 1k asia
and (maybe) for another 2k morocco
😪
June 10, 2025 at 15:24
Because Asia is a whole region with multiple embassies, and Morocco depends on the decision of just one embassy.
June 10, 2025 at 15:56
oh it makes sense tbh.
but i remember in one of your videos you said even when the embassies are backlogged the kcc raise the vb in the final months so others in other embassies can have a chance for an interview especially that Morocco hasn’t even reached half of his quota. does that help or im just trying to cope
June 10, 2025 at 18:08
Cope. It still remains a decision for CSB.
June 10, 2025 at 02:12
Please what are my supportive documents I have to bring at the embassy?
Do I need an affidavit and tax documents from my sponsor to bring at the embassy?
June 10, 2025 at 09:45
1. Read the instructions to know what documents you need.
2. For the I-134 you need the sponsors 1040/W2, recent payslips, and photo ID.
June 10, 2025 at 01:58
Hi Britt,
I’m trying to check my status at ceas website and I get ‘invalid visa number’ error, while I’m using the same number as I used before and it worked normally. What can be the possible reason for such error, it’s already a couple of days..
June 10, 2025 at 09:44
You are making a mistake of some sort.
June 10, 2025 at 01:08
Hello Brit Sinon, there is still a bulletin. In your experience, you appreciate my number of cases for the EU32200. And even if the numbers are called, that doesn’t mean that I will actually be invited to an interview until the end of September, depending on how quickly the bivetiness works or is I wrong here? Many greetings Daniel
June 10, 2025 at 09:43
I don’t know if you will current, and as you say, even if you do, an interview is not guaranteed.
June 9, 2025 at 23:40
Hi Britt Simon,
Thank You so much for your information! I’ve done so much reading and watching and I just have two questions if I may.
1. I won the 2026 DV Lottery with case number 2026OC50X, I’m in the 500’s and from Australia so I’m hoping I have a good chance at getting an interview. My Fiancé is a US citizen and we are not getting married until 2026 should I mention in my interview that I’m in a relationship with a US citizen or is that irrelevant, I entered the DV Lottery as Single as we are not married and I have listed her parents address in my DS260 as that’s where we will start off.
2. If a visa is granted, and say I enter the US within two months to activate my green card, can I return back to Australia to organise the sale of my house and the rest of my belongings to be shipped or do I have to stay in the US until I have a physical GC.
Again Thank You for your time 🙂
Alex
June 9, 2025 at 23:50
1. Irrelevant
2. You can do an activation trip then leave immediately. Currently I advise people to return within 6 months of absence.
June 10, 2025 at 04:35
Lucky you!! My partner is also in the states and I got 2025OC1878 but with one more left it’s so uncertain if that will come up. From my research, I don’t think you would need to mention it (I wasn’t planning to) also it seems you must stay in the states until you receive your physical green card and i have heard that can take time. Dont quote me but thats what ive heard 🙂
June 9, 2025 at 23:22
Dear Simon,
I hope you’re doing well.
Is the DS-260 form generally easy to complete? Also, is the required interview documentation straightforward to gather? I’ve considered getting help from a lawyer, but I’m not sure if that’s really needed.
If I am living in one country (as an expat) but I would like to get my home country embassy assigned, how could I capture this in the DS260 submission?
Thanks again for your time and support.
June 9, 2025 at 23:49
It’s very easy, you don’t need a lawyer. The link below will help.
List your address accurately but pick the embassy you want. Then follow up with an email to KCC explaining why you want your “home” embassy.
https://britsimonsays.com/completing-the-ds260-for-dv-lottery-entrants
June 9, 2025 at 23:20
Hi Simon,
Thank you very much for the support you provide to all of us.
I am a 2025 DV Lottery winner with case number EUR34XXX. I have been unsure about submitting the DS-260 due to the low chances of my number becoming current. However, considering the possibility that the visa numbers might increase in upcoming Visa Bulletins, I am now thinking of submitting it.
Could you please confirm whether it is still okay to submit the DS-260 if I do so within the next week, or would it already be considered too late?
Thanks again for your help.
June 9, 2025 at 23:46
Jeez – you are playing with fire. I don’t know if they can process your case that fast or not – every case is different. Mind you, every day you procrastinate, that chance gets smaller.
June 9, 2025 at 23:02
Dear Brit,
Hope you are fine . I hope my question find you. Do you think we might have a chance for September, case number DV2025AS 18XXX
Thanks,
June 9, 2025 at 23:45
I don’t know.
June 9, 2025 at 21:21
Hello Simon! Although it is impossible to predict the next September bulletin, do you think there is still hope for DV2025 EU25,500?
June 9, 2025 at 22:43
So you are saying even though it is impossible to predict, you would like a prediction….
June 9, 2025 at 19:43
Hi Brit,
Do you think will see Africa going current next month?
June 9, 2025 at 17:45
Hi , we are really disappointed we fill like if we ll have a heart attack for the new visa bulletin so do you expect DV2025 AS126xx may have a chance in the last Bulletin
June 9, 2025 at 22:42
I would feel pretty confident at that number…
June 9, 2025 at 17:32
Hello Simon
Once again, thank you for the assistance.
My case number 2025AF44xxx is current and KCC has responded
to my email providing interview date.
My question is: The instruction received by email requires that an account be opened to schedule the interview, I have done so but not sure if each derivative must be mentioned on the account or the Applicant only. An attempt to include derivatives suggested that a new account will be opened.
Your kind assistance will be appreciated.
Rgds
June 9, 2025 at 22:41
Just the applicant.
June 9, 2025 at 17:22
i did all paper work + translation in april in my country these papers have 3 months validity, in case if i get an interview in september those papers would still be valid? i heard the american embassies allow 6 months after receiving these papers, ( mine would expire in october if thats the case,
June 9, 2025 at 22:40
There may be embassy specific rules, so do some research on the reciprocity pages and the embassy specific site. If in doubt, get new documents.
June 9, 2025 at 16:34
hi simon im moroccan but i have another embassy, my cn is 42.4k but the vb is only 40.5k this month what annoys me is that the past 3 years morocco repeats the same vb for august and September,
i just wanna know whats the factor that makes them repeat the same vb for morocco , and is that factor present for this year so they repeat the same vb (40.5k) or they will raise that number, thank you!
June 9, 2025 at 22:39
I don’t have any way to know…
June 9, 2025 at 16:01
Mr. Simons, do you think we might have a chance for September, case number EU 23XXX
June 9, 2025 at 22:38
Yep
June 9, 2025 at 15:58
Hello Simon, hope you are fine. Finally…I am current for July.
Haven’t received yet my 2NL though, but KCC answered my mail back (almost 2 weeks ago) saying that an interview was scheduled for the beginning of July and in xarthisius website the 2NL date is 19/05. It’s less than one month left since the supposed day of the interview so I am concerned. Why it’s taking so long my 2NL? Is this the normal process and timing?
Thought it would take less time to get it once the number is current.
June 9, 2025 at 16:00
PS. I am 2025EU189**, so current for July since June’s VB
June 9, 2025 at 22:38
The system is still broken. But you have a MONTH. Relax.
June 9, 2025 at 15:54
Hey Brit,
I have a high case number for next years lottery EU2632000 what do you reckon are the chances of getting an interview? (Location in the UK if that helps)
Would really appreciate your thoughts and wisdom
Thank you
June 9, 2025 at 22:37
It is too early to make any guesses – we do not know how many are selected – so the case number range isn’t enough to make an estimation.
You aren’t chargeable to the UK – right?
June 9, 2025 at 15:49
DV2025EU july 22k. Does this figure give you a clue for the final bulletin? What time do you think it will close?
June 9, 2025 at 22:36
We will see in one month.
June 9, 2025 at 15:03
Hello Mr. Simon,
Firstly, thank you for your help in clarifying the unclear points in the application process. I have a question regarding the submission of the DS-260 form. I have completed the form and submitted it, and I received the message: “Thank you. Your Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application (DS-260) was sent to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) for review.” Additionally, the status changed from “Incomplete” to “Completed” in the main stage.
However, I have not received a confirmation email about the DS-260 submission. On the last page (where I can request email confirmation), I see the notification: “Application error, you have encountered an application error. Please try again later.” I have tried several times, but I keep receiving the same notification, and I have not received any confirmation email.
Should I be concerned about this? Is there anything else I need to do?
June 9, 2025 at 22:36
Don’t worry about it – you don’t need an email
June 9, 2025 at 15:02
Dear Simon;
I’m from Yemen a DV 2025 selectee with a case number of AS21K.
I have the following questions;
1) Since the travel ban is already in motion, if lets say my case does get scheduled and I get interviewed. At the interview itself while talking to the consular can I request for a waiver?
2) As per my understanding, a waiver is given if the applicant can demonstrate any of the below criteria;
a) Has strong ties to the US.
b) Is of national interest to the US.
c) Humanitarian grounds
If i can prove with evidence that I comply with one or two of the above, will the consular consider it?
3) If he/she does consider it, what will be the process and how it will take place?
I hope you can give me some info, so at least i can have some motivation to continue my case.
Thank you.
June 9, 2025 at 22:35
1. You won’t get one. It’s over I’m sorry to say.
2. Nope. They are not issuing NIEs

Dear Simon, Can you please advise me here, I had my interview (AF2025) in November last year, I was then requested for additional documents which took way too long to come as they coming from 2 different countries, However I have already submitted them since May 22 but as you can tell my Medicals have passed 6 Months, Should I wait for the CO to ask for renewal of Medicals upon reviews or I should anticipate and get them done to avoid delay should everything go well? Please advise sir.

Contact the embassy and ask them if they are going to approve your case soon, and point out that you will need to redo the medical.

I had my DV interview last week, but I forgot to inform the consular officer that I had renewed my passport because the old one had less than six months of validity remaining. As a result, the passport number I used when filling out the DS-260 form is different from the number on my new passport. Will this affect the issuance of my visa?

No

Hello Simon,
I am a DV 2025 winner and my visa interview is scheduled for July 21, 2025. My sponsor has a family of 3 members, and including my family, the total household size becomes 4.
My sponsor’s income in their 2024 IRS Form 1040 is $31,000, which is below the required income for a household of 4 — according to the USCIS poverty guidelines, the minimum required income is $40,187.
However, my sponsor’s income for 2025 is enough to meet the requirement, but the 2025 tax return won’t be available before my interview date.
So my question is:
1. Can I submit the 2024 tax return (Form 1040) even though it shows insufficient income, and support it with 2025 pay stubs and an employment letter as evidence of current income?
2. Will this negatively affect my interview?
3. Could the visa officer place my case under Administrative Processing (AP) due to low 2024 income?
4. And if that happens, is there a risk of visa denial later, or will the supporting documents (pay stubs) be enough to get approval?

Good morning,
my dv lottery visa is issued and I am so happy.
Unfortunately reading back to my ds260 i noticed that in the address history i missed to put an address . Actually I used to live for one year in two different cities simultaneously. City A – where I work and have mostly been present . City B – an appartment with other friends and where my residence was for a year. But I came to this place rarely.
On my ds260 i couldn’t put both addresses since the system doesn’t allow to put two addresses for the same time interval. No overlap.
So I put only the address of my home in City A which is actually not my residence but i am mostly present.
I didn’t mention the other address. Will it be a problem in the future? Because i tried to be very perfect but this part of ds260 is rather complex.
Is there a way to make correction or i leave it as is?
Thanks

Hey Simon, with 23k people processed in AF and over 7k still in ‘Ready’, do you think KCC is planning a push to meet the quota possibly pushing the bulletin above 50k next?
June 9, 2025 at 22:26
It’s 50K as of today.

Dear Simon, I’ve a question. My parents were born in Pakistan but my siblings were born in Saudi Arabia. Since Saudi Arabia doesn’t offer permanent residency and instead offers an iqama (temporary residence permit) which my parents had, do my siblings qualify to apply for the DV lottery program selecting Saudi Arabia as country of births ?
June 9, 2025 at 22:25
If they can prove they were born there, yes.

Hi Simon, I am selected for DV25 with case 2025AS91**. I think I’ll be current next month.
My problem is that I was working in Malaysia when I submitted the DS and asked for that embassy. But I moved back this month to Nepal. Can I still continue to attend the interview at Malaysia if I have a visit visa to get there?

Yes

Hi Simon,
Hope you’re doing well.
My case number is 2026EU29XXX. I haven’t submitted the DS-260 yet because I’m planning to get married and include my wife as a derivative on the application.
My main question is: should I rush the wedding and submit the DS-260 as soon as possible, or is it okay to wait until early August for the wedding and then submit the application? I know my case number is on the higher end, so I’m wondering if waiting until August could cause any further problems or reduce my chances.
Thanks so much for your guidance!
June 9, 2025 at 22:21
Waiting until August won’t affect you at all.

Hello Brit
Beautiful thing what your doing.
I think I have the same issue as Petros
I was born in Saudi Arabia but my case starts with the region letters AF****.
I can’t remember weather I chose Saudi Arabia or Sudan as my country of eligibility.
But it’s clear from the case number the region is different from place of birth.
My interview will be set on December.
Please let me know if should keep going with it or stop before going to the interview in the first place.
Thank you.

You obviously selected Sudan. If you have no legitimate reason to be charged to Sudan (i.e. the ONLY way would be being married to someone from Sudan), then you are certain to be disqualified. There is no doubt.
My question is, can I solve my problem by marrying a girl born in Egypt now, because I chose Egypt as my country of eligibility, and I was born in Saudi Arabia to an Egyptian father and mother who have been permanent residents in Saudi Arabia since my birth?
June 9, 2025 at 22:19
Simply – no.
You could only use the spouse country if you were married before the DV lottery entry.
As for choosing your parents place of birth – for that you would have to show that they were only TEMPORARILY in SA at the time of your birth.

Hello Simon. Dv2025 winner here. I just realized I entered the incorrect user ID for my Facebook under the social media section of the Ds260. I put my display name, as seen on Facebook, but not the unique ID with a url and some numbers. That is because I didn’t know where to find it when filling the form back then. My Ds260 is processed and I am awaiting scheduling. Will this cause any issue at the interview? Should I unlock? Ps. My other social media handles (4 out of 5 ) were registered correctly, since these were easily accessible. One more thing, have you heard of any one who got denied because of this social media thing?
June 9, 2025 at 20:54
no need to unlock for that.
