Hi Simon, do you we typically get to know the proportion of selectees that end up submitting a DS260.
Also, does unlocking a submitted DS260 prevent KCC from processing it assuming processing hadn’t started. E.g. unlocking within 24 hours of submitting. I’m a UK 2026EU65***. I submitted before finding your videos and understanding my non-existent odds of getting an interview. Now, I’m trying to avoid future “immigrant intent” issues.

We don’t get precise data on non submissions.
Once submitted, there is no way to stop processing or withdraw the ds260. It will always need to be disclosed.

Follow up question Simon – Does this submission of DS-260 create an issue in future for applying non-immigrant visas especially E-3 or F1 – Either for the change of status from other visas or consular processing, and Visa stamping, incase case is not selected for DV interview?

Yes – the DS260 is a declaration of immigrant intent. That is a factor that can make future visa applications somewhat harder.

It is prudent to believe that South America will become current considering that there are around 2,000 cases and that more than 50% of the cases belong to Ecuador and Peru, and they will not have the capacity to handle all their cases. At least Peru has an average of 15 appointments per month. Thank you for all your work

The month to month movement of the VB is always somewhat unpredictable. You can drive yourself nuts trying to predict it with accuracy – so the best advice is “don’t try”.

It is on everyone’s visa. It simply means the visa will show your status until the greencard itself arrives.

I’ve received my visa and will be traveling soon. I’ll be moving to a different city than the one I mentioned in my DS-260. My ticket is booked, and I’ve already found an apartment in the new location. However, I don’t have a sponsor in this city.
Do I need to find a new sponsor and provide their address to match the new city for Green Card and SSN delivery? If so, I’ll need to arrange that before traveling.
If not, can I simply inform the immigration officer at the port of entry to have my Green Card and SSN delivered to my new apartment address?
Lastly, will there be any issue if I arrive at a port of entry different from the city I listed in my DS-260?

I’m unable to check my DV2026 case status on the CEAC website after the interview — it keeps showing “Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number.” I’ve tried multiple times and even checked other case numbers, but the error persists.

The statement came in response to questions from Hespress AR, clarifying widespread speculation on social media about a possible cancellation of the lottery after the usual registration announcement was delayed this October amid the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.
“The Diversity Visa (DV) program is established by statute, and the Department of State will continue to implement the program as required by law, ” the consulate said in written remarks to Hespress AR.
The mission also noted that this year “ there will be changes to the DV entry process,” adding that details and registration dates will be announced once available.
In September, the State Department introduced, for the first time in the program’s history, a $1 processing fee for electronic registration.
The consulate further confirmed that it “will continue providing visa services during the ongoing government shutdown, in line with guidance from the U.S. government.”

Hi Brit,
We are a family of U.S. lawful permanent residents (green card holders). Our status was activated in November 2023, and we both received our physical green cards.
Our baby was born outside the U.S., and we brought him to the United States on December 4, 2024, entering through Miami. At that time, CBP issued him an I-551 stamp (temporary evidence of permanent residence). However, soon after our arrival, I became seriously ill, and we had to leave Miami after only a week. Because of that, our child missed the scheduled biometrics appointment.
At present:
Our baby only has the I-551 paper from CBP (no physical green card).
My wife and I hold valid green cards.
Due to my ongoing illness, we have spent most of this year outside the United States (in Switzerland).
It will soon be one year since our departure from the U.S.
We would like to return to the U.S., but we still need to make several short trips back to Europe to close our personal and financial matters. Given our situation, we would like your advice on the best course of action.
Our main questions:
What are our options regarding our baby’s missed biometrics and physical green card? how even can he travel?
Given that we have been outside the U.S. for nearly one year, how can we best preserve our permanent resident status (for all three of us)?
Should we apply for a re-entry permit or a SB-1 returning resident visa, or is there another recommended route considering my medical circumstances?
What supporting documents or medical evidence should we prepare to explain our prolonged stay outside the U.S.?
Thank you very much for your time and guidance. We truly want to maintain our U.S. residency but are trying to handle these unforeseen medical and travel challenges responsibly.

Hello Simon , I’m still worried that the one-dollar registration fee for the U.S. Diversity Visa Lottery might be the idea of Steve Miller, Trump’s advisor, who is known for his hostility toward immigration and immigrants from South America, Africa, and Asia — basically anyone who isn’t white.
My feeling is that introducing this one-dollar payment requirement is part of Steve Miller’s plan to delay the lottery until after the upcoming elections, so that the Republicans can secure enough seats to cancel the Diversity Visa Lottery completely.
In other words, I believe that the current 2027 DV lottery might not actually happen — perhaps this whole thing is Steve Miller’s strategy.
If that’s not the case, then why all this delay in announcing the opening of the registration website?
Am I right, or are these just baseless fears?

Hi Simon, Today we went to get our pictures taken in prep for the interview. My husband has a beard, and the studio lady said that US visas are getting rejected nowadays if there is facial hair. They have even put up a notice in the wall stating that, and recommending that men come clean shaven. Have you heard of anything of this sort? Btw, I’m based in Singapore

I have a high CN EU47*** with Montreal embassy selected and understand that my chances are very low. Trying to understand how low they are, I was looking at CEAC raw charts from xarthisius. I understand that entries with status – “none” and embassy – “none” are holes, but what does it mean when the status is “NVC”, but embassy is – “none”?
If it was only high case number, understandable – didn’t reach cutoff or selected embassy underperforming, but it’s almost half of all the entries including very low CN like EU 1, EU2 etc….

Every real case shows as NVC as a starting status. Ending the year at NVC means the case was never scheduled. That could be because the person did not submit their DS260 at all, or they did submit but too late, or they were processed but were never scheduled for various reasons to do with embassy performance.

1. Is it still possible under the new laws to move my case to a new embassy after the interview was scheduled in my homeland country?
2. Is it possible to keep my case pending till September (maybe earlier depends) by having missing documents? will they keep my passport at the embassy? Just I am trying to see if i can add some delay so I graduate?
3. Do you think this year the DV2026 program will end earlier than September? For small country with less than 4 millions individual (few hundreds winners is it safe to delay it till September in ASIA?)
4. The issue in 4 is that I will be working temporarily in another country than my country of birth, so they might doubt my intents to immigrate i guess. I am not sure how I can handle this. The 6 month visa expiry isn’t enough and I cannot delay or transfer to another location as well 🙁 Making me obligated to leave before getting the GC which is a hustle

I sent an inquiry to kcc and got following repy:
Your case number is now current for interview processing. If you are scheduled for an interview date, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
Please monitor travel.state.gov for general updates to the DV Program and related regulations. You should also check the information posted by the Embassy or Consulate you chose for the location of your interview for operations details. The process for scheduling DV appointments has not changed from previous years. Selectees will be asked to check the Entrant Status Check (ESC) website by an email sent to the address they provided as soon as an interview is scheduled. KCC cannot predict when individual cases will be scheduled for interview, and you are not asked to take any additional steps if you have already provided all your documents and information. Please remember that selection for participation in the DV Program is not a guarantee of a visa or of a visa interview.

Their response means that your case is current AND the DS260 is processed. It is “AV” status or “stage 4”
Now the timing of when you get your interview depends on the embassy making interview slots available for you and other cases at stage 4. I don’t know your embassy, how many cases they are taking, or how many cases they have in stage 4 – so I cannot tell you when you will get the 2NL.

The embassy incharge of my case is Kathmandu Nepal (asia) embassy and my visa no is just below 3400 in Asia. And i filled the ds260 form on 19 may.
I tried searching about which case numbers are getting the 2nl from the embassy but i couldn’t find much information about it. But considering the cap limit for Nepal is 6000 the embassy must be busy. What’s your thoughts?

I believe that this year there will be no such thing as the American lottery. All this delay is just to add a $1 payment feature, but it’s not that complicated. I think it’s a plan from Trump’s administration, especially his advisor Stephen Miller. The plan is to stall and delay until the next elections, so that the Republicans can win 60 seats in Congress and cancel the American lottery without any objections from the Democrats. This is Trump’s plan against those waiting for the 2027 American lottery.

Hello, I left this question at the end of your last live stream and you asked me to reiterate it here. Would it be possible to calculate the pool size of flawless applications and thus accurately adjust odds for people applying without errors? Might be a foolish question given that, as far as I’m aware, we don’t precisely know what proportion of applications are disqualified due to errors but I’ve heard estimates around 50% from a few legal sources and I suppose even an estimated calculation would be better than none.

I’m not sure what you would be trying to achieve, but if you are referring to why they over select, well they take a simpler approach. Maybe they could do more predictions, but since the process happens so far in advance, it is difficult to factor in all the geopolitical events that could affect behavior for a significant number of winners. So, they take a simple view, and over select. They don’t seem too worried about it – so I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for them to adopt a different approach to solve a problem they don’t see as a problem.

I received my appointment interview appointment letter from KCC i was instructed to register with the embassy in Nairobi, i tried the process but was told the case number is not ready to schedule. I went ahead and contacted the embassy and was given so direction but still it didn’t work out.
My question is is the KCC email final or i need to receive another from the embassy so as i can proceed?

My wife is the principle applicant for 2026 DV, using my changeability country, Iran. We both have Canadian citizenship. We recently moved to UAE. I’ve got my resident visa but her resident visa, husband sponsorship, is under process. Today we received the following email. My question is, we never requested to change our embassy to UAE, though we were planning after she gets her resident visa, then how this email was generated? Are they trying to verify our residency in Canada or maybe recently we logged into our account from UAE, they tracked the IP address?! Please guide me on this.

The email from them says you are moving from MTL to MTL. This is obviously a mistake. I don’t know what initiated the mistake – but I’m not sure why the “why” is important. It sounds like you still expect/want to be in MTL for now, until she has residence in UAE – at which time you would move I assume. Anyway – just go back to KCC and confirm things are as you expect for now.

I will complete my wife’s resident visa in the next two weeks, and then we are planning to send an email to KCC and ask for changing the embassy to Abu Dhabi, including her residency document and Emirates ID which considers as proof of UAE resident. Apparently, the email was a computer generated one and I don’t think it has duration constraints. I hope, as long as I reply and provide the information within the next two to three weeks everything should be fine. I hope!

Submitting a DS260 is a declaration of immigrant intent. That could be a factor considered in future non immigrant visa applications, but it cannot, by itself, be a complete blocker.

Yesterday, I tried to create new photos with your DVPhotoTool app using the original photos. My father (Principal applicant), my mother, and my older brothers’ photos went well, and they were good. However, my photo and my younger brother’s photo had a problem. It showed “zoomed in too much,” and I can not fix it. Will it affect the outcome of their interview?

If you are “current for interview processing” then KCC won’t let you unlock your DS260.

All answer should be your own answers, not mine. But in the question you mention, the emphasis is on “threat to the safety or welfare ” – so your answer would probably be no.

Hi simon, I am a winner of the DV lottery 2026 and my case number is current and I’m currently in the US with valid status on a B2 visa and has been here for more than 60 days and I am applying for adjustment of status and I paid for the DV Visa processing fee today and I am awaiting the receipt .
I was wondering when filing I-485 (AOS) I also want to apply for I-131 (advanced parole) and an EAD, do they fall under the same fee with the AOS or is it a different fee currently

Hi BritSimon, i have some concerns, africa 45K. I have unlocked my ds260 a few times approx 5 times and twice for my spouse. Mostly to add left out and write social social media in the correct formats, spouse’s master’s degree, a previous job title i corrected it, and lastly the last unlock was last week to put other names used, spelling variations of my name on my High School Certificate.
Based on this, is there any issues on processing or risk of being put on back of the Queue

I have a friend, a selectee DV 2026 already scheduled for an interview. He was married (no marriage certificate) and they had a child but they’re not together anymore. He entered the DV2026 as single. Does he stand a chance or he should just forget it now that he never mentioned his wife (then) and the kid?

Quick question after seing your live from yesterday. On the DS260 I didn’t put education from age 12. If KCC has already processed my DS 260 will that create any issue to ask to reopen it ? If not yet processed will that create any delay to modify / add some information ?

The messages are mostly “warnings” – you can choose to ignore the warning if you are sure the expression is neutral, or you can try a different photo.
