1. I don’t know, because I don’t know what backlog exists, or what capacity CSB will open up for interviews.
2. The government want people to interview where they live, so in order to get scheduled elsewhere, you would probably be challenged to prove you reside there – not easy.

Hi Simon. Wanted to check in the reciprocity website to check how to correctly obtain documents for Dv Lottery. When I was looking at the visa classifications, there was no visa classification for DV Lottery, there was a visa classification “D” but from what I understood, it was not DV lottery. Which Visa Classification in the reciprocity website belongs to the DV Lottery?

I’m confused by your confusion.
First of all, you read the general instructions, and embassy specific instructions to create a list of what documents you need, and from which countries. Then for each country you need to obtain a document, you simply go to the reciprocity page for that country and scroll down to get the instructions for that document. It does not matter what visa you are going for – you already now what you are finding.

No of course they don’t need congressional approval for small changes such as this. The law empowers them to make management decisions within certain parameters.

As I mentioned to you before, the so-called $1 addition fee for the Diversity Visa Lottery is nothing more than a smokescreen orchestrated by the Trump administration. The real objective is to delay registrations for the American lottery. In reality, Trump cannot unilaterally cancel the DV Lottery because it requires congressional approval. That’s why they’ve devised this plan with the $1 fee—the goal isn’t merely to cover the program’s costs, but rather to postpone registrations until the Republicans secure a victory in the upcoming elections. At that point, they intend to abolish it legally through Congress, when they hold a comfortable majority, especially in the Senate with 61 votes to prevent Democrats from mounting a filibuster.This is all part of Steve Miller’s scheme. Just listen to what Miller himself has said recently about mass deportations and tightening immigration: “Unless there’s massive large-scale deportations by the millions, it will be irrevocable.” He’s the architect behind Trump’s aggressive plans, pushing for raids, expanded detention facilities, and revoking protections for refugees and asylum seekers. He even stated at a 2024 rally, “America is for Americans and Americans only.” I don’t believe the 2027 DV Lottery will proceed; we’ll remain in a state of waiting and excuses with this $1 addition. The United States, home to the world’s best engineers in informatics and technology, simply cannot be incapable of implementing a mere $1 fee after more than two months—that’s highly suspicious and utterly unbelievable.

First of all, I see you posted a couple of messages with different names but both of the same topic and both from the same computer. Please don’t do that – it seems like you are being dishonest. I’ll ignore it this time, but don’t do it again.
Next – you may have mentioned something about this before. I don’t know. But your understanding of these matters is weak, and you have no credibility at stake, so you can say whatever you want without danger to your reputation, because you don’t have a reputation.
In reality the government is not doing what you said, they won’t win more power in the next election (midterms) they will lose power. They have stated they are going to run the 2027 lottery, they have stated the reason for the delay – and I can tell you that I did previously explain that a delay would be inevitable given what they were suddenly changing. I, unlike I suspect you, know what it takes to make such changes to a global system, and I am not in the least surprised it has taken this long.

I have not yet submitted the form to kCC, I was in the middle of the process I filled in some information and saved, Some weeks after I got the remaining documents and decided to log back into the Ds-260 online application form it was when I started experiencing this error message, starting the case number entered is currently unavailable, and kcc team keep saying the information you provided will be forwarded the appropriate department till now i don’t have any solutions

It sounds like you tried to access your form with incorrect login information multiple times, and that caused the form to become security blocked. In that scenario, KCC arrange an appointment for you to visit the embassy with ID to prove you are the applicant, themn unlock. That process can cause a month or two of delay – and only KCC can sort it out.

I have a specific question about our situation and I really need your insight. My husband and I have been together since 2015. We first got married in 2018 with an official marriage certificate. In 2020, we went through a divorce after a pregnancy loss, which unfortunately led to depression. We decided to take a break and work on ourselves individually. After therapy, we rekindled our relationship and, a year later, decided to give our marriage another try. We remarried in 2021, and we’ve been together ever since and now have an almost 4-year-old child. We also visited the US together for one month in 2024, in case that information is relevant to our case.
For the interview, should we bring up the divorce? Should we also bring the divorce decree along with our current marriage certificate? I’ve tried to find information on this topic but haven’t had any luck. I would really appreciate your advice.

And I wrote (Not yet) in the (degree or diploma) section
I also wrote the attendance date from the start of the master’s till the day I submitted the ds-260 (which was “present” at that time) and I still am doing my masters..
I can’t bring a proof from the university till I pay a big sum of money that I don’t have right now.
I also wrote my highest drgree attained as (University degree) and I have it
Do I absolutely have to prove or provide that I am currently in a master’s degree or not?
If I have to, I will pay the money and get it, I just don’t wanna risk the approval although my budget is very tight right now..
I hope I am clear enough : to summarize:

– can’t bring the proof till I pay

Your eligibility for DV lottery is attained by a formal course of education PRIOR to entering university for a bachelors or masters degree. So – focus on proving the HS results, not the masters.

I dont know what happened on that entry but i added her on mine. Although all these previous entries, none was ever selected. Fast forward i got selected (with her as my derivative) for dv26. Can that entry of my wife at first time come back to automatically disqualify us on interview day?

My family and I were selected in the DV-2026 lottery (my spouse, our 3-year-old son, and myself) under case number EU2026EU28xxx. We submitted our DS-260 forms to KCC on May 9, 2025. Do you think this timing for submission was appropriate? Analytically, I think we see the process similarly — I understand the data isn’t complete, but I’m hoping the EU cutoff might reach around 35,000 by the end of the process. What do you think?

Regarding the numbers, let’s wait and see, but with all the travel bans and implied case number density, 35000 might be possible, although far from guaranteed.

No KCC will not unlock. Once the baby is born you will have to contact the embassy and arrange with them how to add the child. You will need a passport and birth cert for the child.

I don’t understand why more than 20 million people apply to immigrate to the United States, even though it’s no longer the inspiring country it used to be. Obviously, the passport rule and $1 fee will bring down some of the fraudulent applications filed.
Additionally, the ban is impacting lot of Asian counties (I know they can still apply, but there is no light at the end of the tunnel) along with the perceived unwelcoming nature towards immigrants in US. Would all this deter applications to the lottery, thereby increasing the odds for Asia region ?

1. We are going to have Interview very soon. Our child (under 21, will be DV3) will have immediate travel right after interview later as she needs to go back to school @ out of country from where we interview as a family. Will it be workable to ask back the passport right after interview and send back to US Embassy where we interview, few days later ?
Is it will be under section 221g for passport pending, as US Embassy will need to stamp the visa upon receipt later ?
2. As a new immigrant, when we first reached US with DV Visa, will it ok for our child (DV3) to be out of US before receiving GC, as she needs to continue school @ other country ?
We may send GC upon receipt to where she is studying later on, or she may back to US for 2nd time within DV Visa validation

1. Yes you can discuss with the embassy.
2. Your child will need to enter the USA to activate their LPR status before the visa expires. The GC won’t be produced for the child until she has entered for the first time.

I’m DV 2026 winner with case number AF2870 and submitted my ds260 application on 25 May. I’ve still not received my 2NL. I’ve contacted KCC twice in a pace of 2 months and the below is the feedback I received anytime I did so.
“Your case number is now current for interview processing. If you are scheduled for an interview date, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.“
What does this even mean and if I may kindly ask whether you have any information about Accra embassy performance?

Hey Simon, thanks for the great info you provide. My entry was selected for DV2026 with Case # 2026AS11***. I see the case # is current from January onwards. I have a family of 3 (all included in entry with DS-260 completed). My problem is that my wife is unable to move for the next 1.5 years due to some personal circumstances, and would rather not attend the interview.
Q1. Is that permitted – for me and my son alone to attend the interview, without my wife, even though all 3 of us have submitted our applications and also indicated intend to immigrate?
Q2. Or does she still have to come along for the interview and tell the officer that she doesn’t intend to immigrate now?

I have a similar situation too, but for me my husband isn’t immigrating yet.
A. Is that going to be a problem – if only my child and I attend the interview?
B. Would the officer suspect whether we are living together, even though we are, and he isn’t moving due to his family circumstances.
C. What can I say in this case?
D. Is it very difficult to apply for a visa later on for him to come over too?

Hi Simon,
My case number is 2026EU22xxx. Since my entry, I got married in early 2025.
On the DS-260 Summary page, when adding my spouse as a derivative, there may have been an error in selecting their Country of Birth in the pop-up window. All else correct.
In my spouse’s DS-260 section Personal Information 1 itself, the Country of Birth is correct.
The possible mistake appears no where visible.
Could this cause any issues, and would you recommend reaching out to KCC to clarify? Their DS-260 has not yet been submitted.

Hi Simon – thank you for the guidance. I was referring to the “Add Derivative Applicant” pop up, after clicking “Add Applicant”, which asks for Country of Birth amongst name, DOB, and relationship to principal applicant.
Has that cleared things up?

My question is: For a DV-2026 selectee who is currently in the U.S. on an H-4 dependent visa, I received advice to file Adjustment of Status (AOS) without submitting the DS-260, instead of doing consular processing. The reasoning is that filing the DS-260 could create a record of immigrant intent that may cause complications later when applying for E-3 or F-1 visas.
Is this correct?

Yes, that is a valid approach. The DS260 is optional for AOS – although you do have to send the fee to KCC.
Please make sure you are following advice from “Sm1smom” for AOS there is no one that knows more about DV related AOS.

I presented a notarized affidavit during the interview also the consular just asked me to explain why the names vary.
My interview experience. These were the questions I was asked and I answered each of them.
1. Are you so and so
2.Raise up your hand and swear the information you are going to give is true
3. Which course did you study in university
4. Why did you choose that course
5. Which year did you complete your highschool education
6. I can see you are also so and so
7. Please explain why the names vary
8. Who is your host
9. What’s your relationship with your host
10. Which state does your host live in
11. What are you going to do in the USA
12. Have you been married before
13. Do you have any kids
14. Have you been to any other countries. If yes which one? Was it visit or living there?
15. Have you ever been in trouble with the police
16. Have you ever committed a crime
17. Have you ever been denied USA visa
Congratulations your visa has been approved. The embassy will work with the courier services to deliver your visa.
