So I was one of the lucky ones from the UK to receive the email for dv-2025.
I’ve submitted my ds-260 form last night (26th Aug) setting it to have London as the place for any interview etc.
I printed my confirmation and ds260 forms but haven’t had any emails from the embassy or KCC just yet. I wonder how long that will take and if there even any slots or visas left??
My number is Eu high 400s so not sure whether I’ll make it but I wanted to thank you for your effort and the information you put out on the site.
August 27, 2025 at 12:51
Welcome to the UK party!!! Congratulations on being selected.
Up to now both KCC and London embassy have been responding in a spectacularly accommodating manner. Other people have had their DS260s processed within a couple of working days and then been scheduled in London, typically for September 16th (although a couple of cases have moved those appointments even earlier). I cannot begion to explain how different this experience is compared to “normal” cases. This just would not be happening without the lawsuit – in fact, none of this would be happening because it was the lawsuit that caused the government to make their announcement and contact the 43 winning cases.
Your number at EU494 is actually the lowest UK case out of the 43 UK cases – but all the 43 cases revealed are under the 23000 so they are all considered equal. There is no concern about visas running out. So – I expect they will process you very fast and schedule you. I would expect that to happen by the end of this week. So – you might want to start the process to get your police certificates and get your documentation together.
Let me know if you have any questions. You don’t have a lot of time, but I’d like to hear from you to let me know how they are doing. We have another court deadline for the end of September by when the government will have to explain what they did to look after the 43 cases. So – I’m hoping to see good news in your case way before then!
August 28, 2025 at 15:00
I see you have been scheduled in London embassy as I expected!
September 3, 2025 at 09:48
Yep they are moving so fast its unreal, we’ve sorted of gone out of sequence in that we went for medicals but didnt have any information that we needed to go to embassy afterwards for a doc check (they only sent a email with the process after the medical).
We didnt have all the required docs but they managed to get enough to start the process so we will be ready for interview on 16th.
I’ll be reviewing your guide prior to the interview but the embassy chap gave us the London on everything we need to bring
September 3, 2025 at 13:35
Well this is very good progress. It might be a bit more chaotic than usual, but since they are trying to get these cases through – I’ll forgive them!!
September 18, 2025 at 07:24
So we were told at the embassy on the 16th that its their intention to issue us a diversity visa. (UK winner)
Everything was super quick just a few questions from the super nice consular officer and it was approved in minutes
From start to finish the whole process took under 22 days including medicals.
Thank you so much Simon….
September 18, 2025 at 09:00
That’s awesome. 22 days is not the normal experience!!! Haha!

Hi Simon, So I received an email on Aug 8th saying to check my status and I had been selected. It wasn’t until yesterday I realized I only had this opportunity because of you and your law suit. Thank you so much. I know it’s very tight with Sept 30th deadline. I live in US on an E2 so I have completed and sent the AOS and all the payments and docs associated with it. I managed to have it all completed and delivered to the Chicago lockbox Aug 19th lunchtime. I attached a blank page to each family members application pack with bold letters saying please expedite, DOS error, UK do lottery. I’m hoping this will help. I also read that when I received notice of receipt I can contact USCIS to ask for expedited case due to error. Which I plan to do when receive receipt acknowledgement. Is there also someone I can contact at the Kentucky consulate to expedite to application? Anything to highlight and help it move quicker? Many thanks. )#6343

Good morning Mark,
Glad to know another of the UK winners – and yep the lawsuit is what forced the government to issue the August 8th emails and announcement. My lawsuit is continuing to get the same fix for DV2026.
So you are doing AOS – hopefully you have discovered “Sm1smom” in the immigration forum (link below in case you don’t have it) – she is the absolute “Oracle” when it comes to adjusting status for DV cases. I defer AOS questions to her. There is not much KCC can do – they are generally not involved in AOS cases other than issuing the receipt for the payment. DV AOS cases are “expedited” generally anyway, so you stand a good chance of getting through in time, a lot depends on your FO. But see what Sm1smom says.
Please let me know how it goes. Most of the 43 UK winners are doing consular processing and several have already been scheduled in London embassy – so the government are doing what they can as fast as possible, but individual FOs will be unaware of the lawsuit in general.

Hi Simon,
I have also just recently received notification of this error via email from the department of state. I’ve checked my status and was successful for 2025. I’m actually already in the US on a non-immigrant visa, so am trying to work out the process to adjust status for myself and my wife (via I-485). My requirements differ from what I have typically been seeing as I am already in the US – any advice? I think my best bet is to get all my documents together and mail all at once via priority mail. I have my medical booked in 2 days. I think I need to provide payment with the I-485 for the DV fee ($330 pp) + adjustment of status fee ($1440 pp). Anything I am missing?
August 19, 2025 at 23:46
You are another beneficiary of my lawsuit that has forced the government to fix their error. The announcement and the email to you came out on the 8th of August – 11 days ago. I’m in contact with 5 other cases in addition to yours. There were 43 new UK winners in total. Of the 5 I know, one is adjusting status and is about 1 week ahead of you. I recommended that person adjust status for some specific reasons. Time is very tight for that case, and even tighter for yours. Scary tight.
Of the other cases, they are all doing Consular Processing and all are getting exceptionally fast processing. three have been scheduled already at London embassy on September 16th. KCC processed their cases within 1 or 2 business days or receiving the cases. This fast processing is because of the oversight of my lawsuit which included serving papers on the Director of KCC as well as Noem, Rubio and Trump.
So – I am almost 100% sure that if you chose to process by consular processing and submitted a DS260 tomorrow, you would be processed and scheduled immediately – probably joining the September 16th party.
On the other hand if you file an I-485 you are taking a riskier path that has no oversight. You might be OK, but it’s a gamble versus a sure thing. So – you need to make that decision immediately.
If you want to process via AOS, then use the link below to get FULL instructions on the AOS process, what the package should include and so on.
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2025-aos-adjustment-of-status-process-only.348160
If on the other hand you want to process via CP, and can take a trip back to the UK for a couple of weeks, complete the DS260 as fast as possible.
You can also email me at britsimon3 at gmail if you have questions.
Let me know which way you are going and your case number. I have all 43 case numbers, I just want to track who is who…
August 19, 2025 at 23:48
By the way, if you decide AOS – “Sm1smom” is the person that put together all that information linked from the first post on the thread I have you. She is an AWESOME resource and will give you any help you need in adjusting status. She is aware of the lawsuit cases and is very able and happy to help.
August 18, 2025 at 09:46
Hi Simon, I have watched your video, and I am not sure how can i include my name to this lawsuit I have applied though UK in Nov, 2024, thanks
August 18, 2025 at 09:54
You don’t need to be included in the lawsuit. We have some volunteers, and that is enough to achieve the results we need.
August 21, 2025 at 08:34
Can I be one of those volunteers? or how can I help?
I have applied on Nov 2024 for DV 26 with my country of birth as UK. thanks
August 21, 2025 at 09:33
I have sent a list of volunteers for the lawsuit to the lawyer, and I believe he has enough named plaintiffs for now from that group. However, I FULLY expect to win on DV2026 in the same or similar way to DV2025, but of course with a lot more time for the newly selected cases to process. When that win comes, you, and everyone else that entered from the UK will have a chance of being selected – but remember it is only a lottery, so a win for a specific case is not guaranteed.
August 9, 2025 at 20:52
Hi Simon! Great news on the case- myself and my family reside in the US already on a TN visa but I am also a UK citzen (by birth) and applied for both the 2025 and 2026 DV lottery. As we already reside here and can turn things around quickly, the people who have been selected and cannot proceed in time for some reason, will they then offer the place to another number? Also any idea when they will reach out to 2026 applicants?
August 10, 2025 at 02:59
They will not offer the places to other people, no. I’m not sure when DV2026 will be fixed.
August 9, 2025 at 07:00
Good day BritSimon
I am a DV lottery 2026 from Zimbabwe. I would like to find out if our applications will still be processed following Zimbabwes suspension by USA. Please advise. Is this a lost win?
August 9, 2025 at 09:06
Zimbabwe is not banned, but even if that happens the cases will still be processed, and even scheduled for interview. However, they would not be able to enter the USA while such a ban is in force.
August 9, 2025 at 16:40
I’m also a DV2026 selectee from Harare Zimbabwe, ours isn’t a ban but Harare embassy paused processing of iv and niv visas. They mentioned that it is temporary and on Thursday 7 August, they sent emails to August & September scheduled DV2025 selectees, other iv and niv applicants that their scheduled interviews were canceled and that they will be rescheduled when the pause ends. Their main reason for pausing was issue of overstaying. I’m just hoping it is indeed a temporary pause so that the remaining DV2025 scheduled cases get a chance, as some had already done their medicals
August 9, 2025 at 16:53
You should transfer your case to another embassy.
August 19, 2025 at 23:53
Harare have transferred some cases to South Africa – was yours included?
August 9, 2025 at 00:37
And your daughter? Goodluck. How about filing IR for her now that you are a citizen?
August 9, 2025 at 09:04
She wasn’t selected, but yes we will probably file, more for my grandson than her…
August 9, 2025 at 00:29
This is great for the Britons. Were there winners already or they have been selected after the suit?
August 9, 2025 at 08:51
Their cases were previously disqualified – so they were “holes” in the number ranges and we now have those new cases that appeared in CEAC.
August 8, 2025 at 16:05
Good news. Good job, Simon.
August 8, 2025 at 11:42
Hi Simon, first of all thank you so much. Today’s email was a surprise and I’m delighted to say I was selected after this correction.
I understand now it’s quite the scramble so would welcome your advice. In particular if there’s anything I can do with the London embassy to prioritise the case? I have a very low number – just 6XX.
I also require police reports for the DS-260 from the US (which according to the FBI website may take some time) – any tips for this?
Thank you so much.
August 8, 2025 at 11:45
George – congratulations!!!!
First, no need for police certs from the USA – just UK and any other countries you may have lived in for 12 months or more.
I’m going to paste some tips here I just posted to another winner. I don’t normally do 1 on 1 calls – but I am keen to see some cases get through within the deadline, so I am offering help if you need it.
1. Think about this carefully to make sure you want a greencard. If you want a video call to discuss, I can do that with you…
2. Confirm you meet the requirements (that you have A level education or above, you told the truth in the entry and so on).
3. If 1 and 2 are a yes – then go and complete the DS260 as fast as possible. The link below will help you.
4. The government will process your DS260 in an expedited way and will arrange an interview in London. You will need police certificates, so you should start those now for any countries where you have lived in the past. Reading the instructions will help, but I can guide you here if needed.
5. You will also need to arrange a medical once you get your interview appointment.

August 8, 2025 at 19:28
Police certs are for 6 months or more, not 12
August 8, 2025 at 22:32
You should re-read the instructions. 6 months is for current country or country of nationality. Previously lived countries are 12 months.

Simon sorry to barge in on this thread and congrats to you George!
Simon, do you have any info already on your website or can you advise on whether a UK A-level equivalency exam pass (in my case, a Science Access to Higher Ed course, level 3 qualification and equiv. to 3 A levels) would suffice? Thanks.
August 11, 2025 at 12:05
The rules specify that equivalency exams like GED. The manual for COs says “Equivalency certificates (such as the G.E.D.) are not acceptable. ”
However, if you have then gone on to pass a higher level qualification, that might work, OR work experience.
August 8, 2025 at 10:35
Knowing the VB is finish how will they process cases after September 30 to print visas beyong the FY?
August 8, 2025 at 11:25
They cannot interview cases after September 30th, so the deadline is still the 30th, but as long as they approve the case by the deadline, the visa can be printed a few days later.
