CEAC data August 17
OK – this is a mid month data update to show the continued DV2015 progress. As we can see the EU region is marching steadily on. To me, AF is starting to look blatantly underfilled. That could be because cases are understated, and it is obvious that the some embassies, particularly in Africa, are not diligent in updating CEAC. You can see that from the in Transit cases still “unclaimed” in AF region compared to other regions – but there are also many reports of CEAC status showing outdated or incorrect status.
I cannot stress enough how important it is for all applicants with interviews scheduled in August and September to prepare properly to ensure no avoidable AP cases. If you are scheduled for an interview in August or September there is a visa number reserved for you. However, that visa slot can be lost and given to someone else if you do not get approved in the interview.
Here is the data.
Please remember you can filter the data yourself to look at the results of a specific embassy.
I will publish a new file at the end of the month. By the way – DV2016 cases are not yet loaded into CEAC – so it will probably be several months before I can show similar data extracts for DV2016.

hi what about my case number 2015Af55303

Your number is too high, you will not get an interview. I’m sorry.
August 18, 2015 at 18:38
And what happend when the visas is to much , they can send emails for big numbers than cut off
August 18, 2015 at 18:52
No, by the time KCC see the issue, there is no time for them to do that.
August 18, 2015 at 18:51
Hello Brit
I have question. Do you know someone who won lottery twice or even more, and for any reason he or she could not get green card first time?
My case number didn’t become current for 2015, and I am in very bad situation.
Do you know anyone?
Has it occurred before?
I just want to know that it has occurred or not. Sorry about my silly question. You are very experienced…
Please answer me.
Thank you in advance!
August 18, 2015 at 18:54
Yes I have known people to win more than one time – and yes sometimes it is because they did not get current the first time.
August 18, 2015 at 18:51
hi brit
i want ask u about something
is kcc sent the 2NL before loaded dv2016 cases into CEAC.gov or after loaded cases to CEAC.gov ???
August 18, 2015 at 18:54
KCC will send the 2NLs regardless of whether they load CEAC with that data.
August 18, 2015 at 19:09
Thank you so much Brit. You r always awesome!
August 18, 2015 at 18:56
Hi, how can I filter the data to look at the results for Romania? If you have a chance can you advice please? Thanks a bunch

I think it has not changed anything from last year (dv2015)
August 18, 2015 at 19:24
Yep – that is my suspicion, based on the high VB numbers…
August 18, 2015 at 19:16
Still slow in processing
August 18, 2015 at 21:03

Hi mr tarek,
I Have interview in Riyad, but i chang it to cairo can i ask you about some point
August 19, 2015 at 00:05
Helloo Britsimon!! I appreciate your humanitarian effort but appreciation is not enough for me besides what I have in my hand and faith is: GOD BLESS,: You,your children, your wealth, your age, your life and every belongings of you. Let me ask you one question that matters me: I am from Ethiopia I want to come by the end of this month but my sponsor fears & shock me to bring false marriage card of his sister by signing at local municipal then to foreign ministers finally bring the certificate in hand unless you do so I can.t be host for you he said.He is my close relative the marriage is not true simply a means of bringing his sister but at interview and in all my documents I am single in reality I am single. Now I made certificate accordingly his order. If I bring the certificate now and finally say”no” I don.t know because it can block my futurity of getting real wife from Ethiopia.and if I say I don.t do that.If I don.t bring his sister .1) is it possible that he can accuse me by court and enforce me to bring his sister? Can the law invite this kind of event to consider me guilty ?? 2) some people say me you will be” deport ” if you don.t carryout your if he accused .Is it true?? 3 ) some says if she accuses you withholding and showing the certificate to embassy, the embassy will directly transfer the issue to USA homeland security and will be deported .Is it true?? 3 ) some groups say me if your case is shown to embassy your homeland USA embassy and to any government body of USA you will be punished for cheating and for not bringing what you have promised. Is it true??4) some say you don.t bring even your true marriage at a time that you want unless you bring her and you do so divorce certificate. Is it true? Dear Britsimon read the message and questions well and give me your reality in perspective of the law. Thank you Brit!! Excuse for long text. Brit please my dear tell me the logic clearly.
August 19, 2015 at 16:04
I am not clear on whether you have processed as single or married and whether you have married this girl after the interview.
You can only be punished for what you HAVE DONE. In other words, if you have not broken the law, the people threatening you cannot do anything. Their blackmail is actually illegal – so it is they that would face punishment, not you.
So – explain clearly – have you gone through a wedding with this girl? If so, was that before the interview or after? Did you interview as single?
August 19, 2015 at 19:01
Okay thank you Brit let me clarify & tell you the fact. My interview was on July 5,2015 i am single in real life . My documents before and after the interview is single . One day after my interview i was calling to my sponsor to share my happiness he is my close relative then he said me “” are you applying in single he said me ? then i said him yes. Oh congratulation !!!! he said me and said me ”sponsorship is very difficulty in USA so you should make false marriage certificate of my sister by signing at local municipal and then authenticate at foreign minister finally bring it to USA in your hand to apply after 2 years of stay” . If you do so this, i will buy you air ticket and find job for you soon after you arrive”” Fearing his shock i prepare the marriage certificate card with no marriage ,no wedding & no true marriage simply his mission is to bring his sister in USA. I am really aggravated for this event .If i denied him not to carryout this false marriage after i arrived in what will be is my question : when i advise to some people the said me even it is not marriage & wedding so as not to block your chance of going to USA say ” him okay at this instantof time and deny him not carry out the marriage card ” IF I don.t carryout this what will happen on me ? 1) some people fear me if he/she accuse you for not carrying out your promise ,you will be deport and punish. is it true? 2) some people fear me even if it is not true marriage & not legally known you should take her and prepare divorce paper because the law mandates you if she /he accused you for not carrying out/ taking her. is it right? Brit what is real situation of the law regarding this situation ? tell me the logical idea you have and the the law . Thanks brit for your helpl
August 19, 2015 at 20:17
I don’t understand where you got the “marriage certificate card” you say you obtained. I assume that is a fraudulent document. In that case, you are not married and you must not present that document as a genuine document. To do so would be fraud – and that would be a serious crime.
To answer your other questions.
1. The “promise” between you and this sponsor person is between you and him. Not honoring that “promise” cannot get you deported.
2. You cannot get a divorce paper if you were not legally married. You either were or weren’t married!! You know the truth about that – I don’t. However, I would advise you to not mess around with any more fraudulent documents.
August 19, 2015 at 20:48
THANKS SO MUCH BRIT FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!
August 19, 2015 at 04:42
How about case number af50000 up to af55000 are they going to be called up for an interview to fill the quarter I see there is no improvement in AF at all
August 19, 2015 at 04:47
No, those numbers will not be called. DV2015 is over at AF50000
August 19, 2015 at 04:51
Kcc are unproffessional guys. They should see this for AF and make the number higher
August 19, 2015 at 05:43
Guv’nor Britsimon, thanks once again for this awful and selfless work. My question is: Can the quota for AF region be capped, and is it possible for the DV2016 cut off to be raised to “widen the net, catch more fish and prevent shortfall”? Curiosity killed the cat but am smiling like a Cheshire cat..ha ha ha. Cheers sir!!
August 19, 2015 at 15:39
The quota for AF will be about 22000 visas (including family). 45000 Africans have been selected and many of those will get married and have babies before interview. About 35/40% of those cases will not respond, and many will be refused. So – there is a long journey before we can be sure what the final cutoff will be.
August 19, 2015 at 06:29
Hi Brit, I was a DV 2015 winners with high case number from Asia. I am not current this year. For 2016 I was not selected. Does KCC give priority to those who won one time for next application? I would like to apply for 2017 again. It would be great if they keep record of winners once. It is very hard to be winners. KCC should give chance to those who win once. The winners of one time should be given chance to come for interview or next chance for the comming year. that is fair i think.
Next, for the year 2016 they have selected 91000. you told us last time they there is chances that they will draw few thousadn more is ? when can they do this? I hope they will select those who are not current in 2015 and have file application in 2016. For example like me. I was selected for 2015 but not current and again not selected in 2016!!! Very sad.
August 19, 2015 at 15:31
The draw is random each year, so no, as a previous winner you have the same chance as everyone else in your region.
There will be no second draw in DV2016.
August 19, 2015 at 07:40
Enter your comment here…thanks alot iur visa was issued n picked in kenya. QUESTION Can I change the state I gave during interview n how? Will this affect my case?
August 19, 2015 at 15:30
Yes that is no problem – just update your address at the POE (the airport you arrive at)
August 19, 2015 at 16:50
Congratulations, how was it how long did it take you? Any challenges you experienced you may want to share?
August 20, 2015 at 05:04
Hi mary…deno from kenya…my interview is next month..will u give me ur email please..wanted to know wht i should expect..thank you
August 19, 2015 at 09:04
When can i have my interviews my cn is af79**
August 19, 2015 at 11:49
Hi, Brit
as a very high CN checked his status and status is seen NVC it means what?
August 19, 2015 at 15:24
That is the default (standard) status. All cases showed that to start with.
August 19, 2015 at 11:55
Thanks Simon, i did enjoy the google sheet and learnt a lot, well done. However, the Country abbreviation was overwhelming, i wasn’t able to see for my Country Tanzania. Could be knowing the abbreviation used? Suspect FTN but not sure.
Secondly, what does at NVC means and administrator. Thanks to answer my questions.
August 19, 2015 at 15:23
Tanzania is DRS.
NVC is a case that did not proceed (did not submit their DS260).
Administrative Processing means the person attended the interview but had to produce additional documents or have additional background checks.
August 19, 2015 at 12:21
Dear Simon, I am iranian winner of lottery 2015 who had interview in KL 7 July. Last week (10 August) I received an email from KLL embassy that my adminstrative processing is completed but my husband AP is still pending. They asked me I want to continue my process alone or want to wait for my husband process. I sent email to embassy and confirmed that want to complete my process. I asked them about my son process and they ansewred me :
” As per our earlier email to you, your application is now at the final stage of the processing. Your husband’s application is still pending for the administrative processing. And for your son, we are unable to process his application now since the DV numbers are not available worldwide. We have requested additional 2 more numbers for your husband and son and the request is in waitlist. There are no promises these numbers will be available before September 31, 2015.”
Since they asked me to submitt my passport as soon as possible, I submitted my passport and hopefully I will pick up my passport on Friday.
Now, I wonder why they mentioned that “since the DV numbers are not available worldwide”. My son is 14 years old and they should do his process with me paralelly. However, I can see 3 embassy in Ankara, Abu Dhbi and Yerevan, every day clear some cases and ask them to submit their passport before 28 August. This means still visa number is avilable for Iran. I don’t know what should I do for my son’s process as he is under 18 . Please advise me what should I do after receving my visa. And do you think this email means they don’t have any DV visa number and my son and husband can’t get visa?
August 19, 2015 at 15:02
Prior to the interview, every scheduled selectee is allocated a visa. You would have had 3 visas allocated to your case prior to July 7. However, your case went on AP – so those allocated visas were released and returned to the pool of visas controlled by KCC. It seems you have now cleared AP, and luckily they had one visa from another case in KLL which they allocated to you, but they did not have a second one for your son. Your husband is still on AP.
So – they might get another visa for your son. And your husband might clear AP. If he does, then they might be able to get a third visa for him. However, there is a chance that you won’t all get visas because of visas being pre-allocated. So – you can see visas being issued, but your son is on a waiting list and your husband is not even on that list yet.
IF you don’t all get visas, there are options for you to sponsor your son and husband, but that will take a lot longer and your family will be spilt up for a while. Hopefully this will get resolved with the best possible outcome. Good luck.
August 20, 2015 at 11:09
Thans you for your complete and clear answer. So, maybe we have onther chance that can go togather. In case, my husband and son don’t get visa, I have to apply F2A visa form them and follow visa bulletin. What is the estimated time for my son to get F2A visa? a few months or few years? Thanks again for all your effort
August 20, 2015 at 15:04
1 to 2 years.
August 19, 2015 at 13:40
Dear Brit
when i check Confirmation number in Visa status check(CEAC) i get (Your search did not return any data.).
what that mean ???
ex: 2015AF49681
Kind Regard.
August 19, 2015 at 14:54
It means that number does not exist – you must have a mistake.
August 19, 2015 at 15:15
Hi Simon
Please im Tunisian, and im working as arotator between Tunisia and Kenya (6 weeks Tunisia and 6 weeks Kenya), Do i have to do a police report from Kenya??
August 20, 2015 at 19:00
We will be a winner in 2017. No loose hope
August 19, 2015 at 15:50
Hi Simon,
I selected for DV2016 with CN 2016AF43xxx. I don’t know if my family and I are lucky with this number? My question: Do you think there is not any problem if my wife and I enroll again separately (two application) for the coming DV2017 even before we know about the result of DV2016. Is there any penalty?
August 19, 2015 at 15:59
No penalty at all. No problem.
August 19, 2015 at 16:09
Is the CN 2016AF43xxx safe or not?
August 19, 2015 at 19:51
I honestly think it’s safe. I think they will stop in 50k, like the previous year.
August 19, 2015 at 20:25
Probably, but it is too early to be 100% certain.
August 19, 2015 at 18:17
2016AF000001## filled z second one on June first week from Ethiopia what do u think Simon?
August 19, 2015 at 20:22
What do I think about what? Interview? I would expect you to get an October interview (which means a 2NL in the next week or so).
August 19, 2015 at 18:31
Mr simon my situation was in transit but now i find this message … That : Issued … my interview will be in 9 sep 2015 can you explain me this mister brit.?
August 19, 2015 at 20:20
Are you sure the status is not “ready”? Are you sure you are looking at the correct year, region and case number?
August 19, 2015 at 20:01
Brit my visa was approve ,AF region but today the status was just updated an it shows administrative procedure is it normal
August 19, 2015 at 20:12
Yes it is normal – it should change to “issued” within a day or two.
August 19, 2015 at 20:40
sorry britsimon it was a mistake from me … but my situation still at transit CN AF456XX i dont why
August 19, 2015 at 21:13
Don’t worry about it – it simply means your embassy has been too lazy to update CEAC – it does not affect your case in any way.
August 19, 2015 at 21:47
BritSimon i think in my country (MOROCCO) everyone & everything are lazy lol exept me 😀
August 19, 2015 at 22:16
LOL!
August 20, 2015 at 00:09
Hi Brit
i do have a serious concern about my case laying at the U.S embassy dakar. i passed my interview on April 30,2015 with my wife and went on AP since then the situation did not change. I sent them three e-mails and they answered on August 12, telling me to wait as usual.
what can be your say about this?
with thanks
August 20, 2015 at 00:47
There must have been some background check issue. There is nothing you can do except wait….
August 20, 2015 at 11:58
Dear Simon
In case I need to check my dv application status in CEAC site I enter my Case Number 2016AS45xx but I received ( In valid immigration case number , what that mean ??
August 20, 2015 at 15:03
2016 cases are not loaded into CEAC yet.
August 20, 2015 at 14:49
hello dear simon .i have submitted the fy-2016 ds-260 form in 25 july 2015 ,my case number is in the first current range of asia that released some days ago ,so what is your opinion about processing time and interview date ? thanks !
August 20, 2015 at 14:58
I think it will not be processed yet – so I imagine you will not get an October interview. November possibly, or more likely December.
August 20, 2015 at 14:51
Hello Guv’nor Britsimon….. mine are just greetings and words of appreciation. Continue doing the great work and say hi yo your lovely daughter Sofia & the rest of your family members …. hope yo meet you next year on the US…. my POE will be Boston. Cheers!! ??
August 20, 2015 at 15:30
Hi..sir my case number for edv 2016 is AS00005308 i have got interveiw notification or not plz say sir
August 21, 2015 at 01:05
You most likely will have an interview – although it is too early to be certain.
August 20, 2015 at 18:36
Hi Brit,
I wish to know if my case is safe. 2016Af49xxx.
August 21, 2015 at 01:00
The cutoff for DV2015 was 50000. So – you could not consider your number “safe” there must be some risk. However, it is too early to be certain so you have to wait and see what happens.
August 20, 2015 at 18:57
Kcc let us down
August 20, 2015 at 19:20
Thanks once more Brit I receive my visa today I will never forget you I pray to meet you In us if i have the If oppotunity
August 21, 2015 at 00:56

August 21, 2015 at 06:01
Hi Simon,

August 21, 2015 at 13:59
I don’t know how far they will have progressed with DS260s so you might be in October (2NL in a week) or November, (2NL next month).
August 21, 2015 at 09:20
hi Brit,
we won DV2015 but have no luck to get interview because CN too high,
my question is : will we have any problems /ban when applying for nonimmigrant visa like B2 ? if yes..for how long
thanks
August 21, 2015 at 13:53
No it should not be an issue – you still have to show strong ties to your home country.
August 21, 2015 at 11:40
if someone his visa is refused cause of making first name place last name in first time and correct it in ds260… we want that he told as that here … thanks brit and all people can anwser me
August 21, 2015 at 13:52
Please make your question clear.
August 21, 2015 at 12:45
Can you pls advise on this
Hi Simon
Please im Tunisian, and im working as arotator between Tunisia and Kenya (6 weeks Tunisia and 6 weeks Kenya), Do i have to do a police report from Kenya??

No
August 21, 2015 at 14:19
simon my question.is about first name and last name i put my first name poacr last onr but i correcte it ids my interview is 9 septembre in morocco and im so afraid yo refuse me
August 21, 2015 at 15:39
Greetings Brit,
My cousin’s cn is 2016af39xxx. He is scared that there might be a cut off number for Cameroon this year.that she read that in one of your posts. Is that true
August 21, 2015 at 17:46
There is not likely to be a cutoff for Cameroon – but there IS likely to be a cutoff for Africa. However, I would expect that number to be safe…
August 21, 2015 at 17:11
Hello Simon,
Thanks for the awesome job you’re making to keep all of us informed on the process of acquiring a diversity visa. You’re the man!
I have been selected for further processing for the 2016 period, my number is 2016SA000001XX, and I know that’s great news!
However, I was in the U.S. on a different kind of visa and I left the U.S. yesterday, and I wanted to wait until I was in my home country to submit the DS260 because I wanted to be extremely specific when filling the history of my previous US trips, I mean, I wanted to submit exactly the amount of days I stayed in the U.S.
My question is: How long does the “processing” and “background check” for the DS260 takes? Do you have any estimates? FYI, I also have been submitted in the past “processing” and “background check” by the USCIS, NVC and FBI when I applied to my previous visa, so, do you think that will make this “processing faster”?
I’m asking this because since I have a low number, it would be current in October and I am eagerly waiting to go back to the United States because my life and my loved ones are there. I’m starting to miss them, *sniffs*. So yeah, I’d like to be interviewed in October.
I know this is a long shot, and I am aware that you don’t know the inner workings of the KCC; and also we can only predict the this process as much as we can predict the weather.
Thanks so much for reading this. 🙂
August 21, 2015 at 17:41
DS260 processing is unlikely to start the year at much faster than 3 months. So – if you submit your form today you would get an interview in January, (possibly December). You did not need to wait until you left the USA to submit. The interviews are scheduled based on cases that are current and processed around 6 to 8 weeks before the interview month. So – in order to be in the October interviews, your DS260 should have been submitted in May (May, plus 3 months of processing = available to be scheduled during August (for October interview).
The previous background check is unlikely to make the process faster.
August 21, 2015 at 18:04
sorry mr brit im waiting for you answer about : simon my question.is about first name and last name i put my first name place last onr but i correcte it ids my interview is 9 septembre in morocco and im so afraid yo refuse me
August 21, 2015 at 18:28
They could refuse uyou for this sort of mistake – but it is up to the CO. Assuming you have entered the information in the DS260 correctly there is nothing else to do.
August 21, 2015 at 19:46
Hi Simon
Based on released data don’t u think Asia will achieve less than 8k visas somehow around 7600? In this case what’s happen ?
Thanks for you time & efforts
August 21, 2015 at 22:11
Remember we are not seeing the adjustment of status cases in CEAC. But yes, if enough Iranian AP cases are not resolved there will be a shortfall. Whilst that is a shame (lost opportunity) that does not really present a problem as such. The unused quota will just be wasted.
August 22, 2015 at 18:40
Hi Brit
Thanks for your very useful information, i have a question about lottery winner,in your opinion participating in 2017 lottery causes any problem for 2016 winner or not, if he/she doesn’t get visa for any reason, he/she’ll has another chance for next one.
August 22, 2015 at 20:07
No problem in entering DV2017 for a DV2016 winner.
August 23, 2015 at 14:44
hi brit. i hope you are fine. let me tell you how was the interview of a friend on thursday; 20; August in ouagadougou; BURKINA FASO:
when he arrived the CONSUL asked him questions and at the end she told him to go and wait for a call. so he does not know what is happening. he got all his papers right that day.
what is strange is that his VISA STATUS in CEAC is still At NVC. How can we interpret it?
I’m worrying. my interview is on next thursday; 27; August and my VISA STATUS is READY.
Thank you!
August 23, 2015 at 15:22

I don’t know what is happening on his case of course. It is very unusual that his case says NVC.

Timing of interview – https://britsimonsays.com/when-will-i-have-an-interview/
For getting married – https://britsimonsays.com/marital-status-getting-married-dv-lottery-process/
For the child, that is probably a bad idea – it will be confusing as to why you would leave the child and later sponsorship will take a long time and cost a lot more money.

Hello dear simon and thanks for previous reply
I completed MS course in February 2015 and claimed it as highest education level in the ds-260 form ,but issuance and delivery of official university certificate takes several months .meanwhile a provisional (interim) certificate (not to be translated according to laws) will be issued and my original B.S degree certificate must be held in university archive and I can get only a statement of academic completion for MS course possibly accompanied by GPA .so are certified translated copies of B.S degree and SAC for M.S acceptable during interview ? Thanks

What you need to focus on is what qualifies you for the lottery – the 12th grade. The BSc and Masters are helpful – by the 12th grade is a must!
