Some months ago, the government made it more difficult to access your case status on the CEAC status site – which is here – https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
DV cases are immigrant visa cases, so make sure the selection is correct as shown in the screenshot below.
First you need to enter your case number. You enter the full case number, but without the leading zeros. So, for example, if your case number is 2026AF00010045 the leading zeros are those I have shown in bold before the first number in your case. Remove those numbers from your FULL case number so you enter your number as 2026AF10045.
OK – next.
If you have not been scheduled, then you can enter “NA” in the Passport and Surname fields.
If you have been scheduled the embassy will have updated your case with your surname (lastname), and the passport number. The name requires the first FIVE letters of your name, and it doesn’t matter whether you use capital letters or not.
The passport number might be your own number, OR if you have derivatives on your case, it could be the passport number of one of those derivatives. Try them all.
You might also find your name is updated but “NA” works in the passport number field.
Try that and enter the CAPTCHA value and hopefully your status will be shown.
Hope that helps.

Hi Simon,
I tried all the ways but still it didn’t return me the status. Is this site working for others.

Yes. You probably haven’t tried all the ways….

It works when I used my husband’s passport number and his name even though the main applicant is me. I hope it is okay?
April 16, 2026 at 16:25
Yep – that was my suspicion. Yes it’s ok.

Hi Brit,
I’m from Paris, and we already did the interview in February. They told us that everything is complete, but that they don’t issue visa now due to the DV pause. When I check the status on CEAC, it is written “refused”. My understanding is that it is the same for everybody due to the pause, is it right ? Nothing to worry about ? Thanks for your help !!

Yes – 221g is a temporary refusal. Everyone is being placed in that status due to the pauses, if their case is otherwise approvable.

Thank you ! It was what I understood but I wanted to double-check to be reassured 🙂

Hi Simon,
Much appreciate your works.
Im from Thailand (AS22xxx), My interview is currently scheduled March 10 at US embassy in Bangkok. But after I went to Med Exam, It will take more time and result will be available on May 4. I’ve requested interview reschedule and still waiting for a response.
My DS-260 currently lists me as single, but I will marry my girlfriend in early April. She is a Belgian citizen and resides in Copenhagen. After we are married, I plan to update my DS-260 and add her as my spouse. is it doable? I know it risky, but my marriage is most important, I will not go alone.
And is it mean that she will have to come interviewed together with me at US embassy in Bangkok? is it possible to for her to be interviewed in Stockholm (since she resides in Denmark and it would be easier for her to complete the medical exam and gather documents locally)?
Thank you!

They will be suspicious of a long distance relationship – so it would be better to interview together, even though a separate interview may be technically possible.
February 23, 2026 at 21:54
Thank you
I contacted US embassy in Bangkok by email they says due to the pause, interview will generally be re schedule or cancelled, is it mean no? I’m not sure that in the portal website ustraveldoc will still allow me to reschedule by myself on the portal? Is there anyone who be able to reschedule while it has been paused?
February 23, 2026 at 23:08
I haven’t heard of any cases rescheduled due to the pause.
February 23, 2026 at 23:31
sorry, it was typo, thay say “Existing diversity visa appointments generally will not be rescheduled or cancelled.”
February 22, 2026 at 14:05
Thank you Simon! I have tried all possible ways to check my visa application but it keep saying your search did not return any data.
I am current but not yet schedule d.
Thanks

You could give me your case number if you want and I would check it. But if you are not scheduled, it will simply show you “at NVC”.
February 22, 2026 at 20:07
Thank you! It work when I put NA in passaport and NA in surname.
Thank you!!!

When I enter my case number without zeros, it gives me a red icon indicating an error, even though I am certain of my case number.
February 22, 2026 at 12:59
Hard for me to solve that without seeing your screen
