***UPDATE – please watch this video to make sure you do not make a mistake***
One of the blog readers received his documents required email and noticed there was a difference in the format and content of the email. Thanks Ran!
I think it’s an interesting and important change – so I wanted to get this out.
I will include the new email text below, but I will first call out some important differences.
First – the email timing may have changed. Previously the email talked about the DS260 processing being finished. The new format talks about the DS260 having been submitted. That suggests that they are going to ask for documents earlier – soon, or immediately after DS260 submission. There was a case a few days ago that was asked within a few days of submission – so this email format and my assumption is somewhat corroborated by that report.
Second the marriage and divorce documentation are now being requested (where that is needed). So married people are being asked to provide those documents before getting interviews scheduled. That is important.
Third this is now a naming convention being suggested for the documents themselves – and more clarity about how the email should be referenced. I’m sure this is an attempt to improve the workflow for the backend team who are processing these documents, so stick closely to these formats if you want a smooth document procedure.
Let me expand on their naming convention – these are ideal filenames to make it as simple as possible for them.
Each document should be scanned and saved with a filename that clearly identifies the case number, applicant name (principal or derivative name), and finally the document.
Case Number, they are showing they want the full case number with leading zeros – KCC often “prefer” the leading zeros to ensure precise reference of the case. Use that for the document and the subject.
Name should be firstname_lastname format.
Document should be one of the following list Passport, Birth_Certificate, Marriage_certificate, Divorce_document, Death_certificate, Annulment_paper, Military_record, Police_certificate_country_XXX , Court_record_country_XXX.
If translations are needed, then add “_translation” on the filename.
So you will end up with documents like this:
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_police_certificate_country_france.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_police_certificate_country_france_translation.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_marriage_certificate.pdf
2020AF00938653_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf
and so on…
I hope that’s clear. You can combine one persons documents into one multiple page scan – so in that case just change the filename to say “all_documents” after the applicant name. Really – just use some common sense about this. The email below has all the instructions already.
Their example (and mine) uses pdf as the file extension but you can also scan files to jpg or jpeg file format.
Lastly – I get a lot of people asking several questions. Let me try and list those here to cut down on the times I am asked these same things.
Q: Should send documents without being asked?
A: There really isn’t any need to do that unless we are getting late in the processing year (say March/April). Until then, wait for your request, especially if your case number is high anyway.
***Update*** in DV2021 and DV2022 it is clear that sending documents without being asked is probably the best choice, on balance. It has worked for some people and you cannot just sit and wait while KCC get around to asking you.
Q: Does getting this email guarantee an appointment/that they are happy with my DS260/That there are enough visas etc.
A: No – none of those things can be assumed simply because you got this email.
Q: What is the order that these emails are sent/is it case number order/why has so and so number had theirs when I have not had mine.
A: We do not know the order in which these emails are sent. Don’t worry about it – nothing should be assumed about that order or the lack of an order. RELAX!
Q: If I send my documents early, can I be interviewed before my case number is current on the Visa Bulletin.
A: NO!!!!! No one is scheduled until their case number is current.
Q: I already sent the documents before this change, do I need to send again?
A: If you received the email that starts “Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.” then NO you would not need to send again. If you have not received that email, you may need to send documents again – please wait a few days then check with KCC.
OK – so here is the email with full instructions. Please read it – and don’t ask me questions that are directly answered in the email or this article. PLEASE. I am CRAZY busy at the moment in my own work AND the busy lottery season. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be respectful of my time.

Dear <<Name>>:
Congratulations on your selection for the 2020 Diversity Visa program!
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) hereby confirms receipt of the DS-260 Diversity Visa application form for you and each accompanying family member(s). Please read this email and carefully follow the instructions listed in order to have your application processed as quickly as possible.
Now that your application form has been submitted, you should review the list of required documents for processing below and send those to KCC to review as part of your application package. You will only be scheduled for interview at an overseas consular post after you have submitted all documents required for your case and your visa rank number has become current.
All documents should be submitted as attachments to your email to ensure they are properly received. We ask that you use the following method to name and attach your files:
– Your DV case number;
– The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; and

For example:
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Passport.pdf

Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
* IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not mail any documents to KCC. Any documents sent to KCC will not be processed and will be destroyed.

Hi Brit. I’m about to send my documents but still have one point that is not clear. The passport I used in the original entry expired, I renewed it and used the new one in the DS260. Now I’m going to send a copy of both obviously but
1)how can I explain this if -as I understood- they don’t look at the body of the E-mail?
2)Should I attach an additional PDF or JPG and name it let’s say “Explantation” or ” Please read me”?
Thanks a lot.
March 21, 2021 at 16:09
No explanation needed – they will see two passports.
March 24, 2021 at 12:32
Thanks a lot. So what kind of difference do they mean in the below paragraph?
“If the passport used by the principal applicant to enter the DV program differs from the one currently being submitted, you should also include a photocopy of the principal applicant’s passport listed on the DV entry with a written explanation for the change to KCC. “
March 25, 2021 at 20:34
A replacement.

Hi Simon. I need your advise on this please.
I lived for 18 yrs in West Bank and I’m now a resident in Saudi Arabia , I already got my police certificate from palestinian authority but While I was reading the instructions , I noticed this “”All Palestinian ID holders living in the West Bank and Gaza must obtain a Criminal Information Certificate from the Israeli DCO (Civil Liaison Office) nearest your place of residence, or online at https://forms.gov.il/globaldata/getsequence/[email protected] (instructions in Hebrew only), or at the nearest Israeli Embassy if you now reside abroad””
1) Does that mean I have to get a police cert from Isreali gov as well or this is only for who is living there right now?
2) I already tried to obtain it online but its not possible and there is no embassy here in saudi arabia to get it ,should I just explain this in the documents email and send the docuemnts without the certificate?
P.S : I’m not the main winner, i’m only a dervative.
Thanks

Hello Brit Simon
I do have question in the naming format of Applicants name.
1. Name should be firstname_lastname format.
2.The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned.
These are the formats I found from your above comment.
In the first format it says first name and last name and in that of the second one it says Full name of applicant’s name [ First name,Middle name, last name]..!?
I got a litle confused with the format which one is correctone please?
March 25, 2021 at 23:39
Just as long as they are identifiable, that’s fine.
March 25, 2021 at 04:39

March 26, 2021 at 15:15
Hey Simon! There was a debt for the utility services that was passed to me after my mom died and I inherited this debt together with some real estate. The utility company sued me for this debt and successfully won the case without my presence (I was living in the U.S. back then). The debt was successfully paid, though. This was just a debt collection event through court.
The question – Should I obtain this court record, although it wasn’t a criminal charge and I wasn’t convicted of any crime? Thank you!
March 27, 2021 at 19:56
That debt is not a criminal case.
April 2, 2021 at 18:40

April 4, 2021 at 14:50

April 6, 2021 at 02:49
Hello, I requested my police certificate but it won’t be available for pickup until the beginning of May. Is it OK if I send them other documents now along with an explanation of why the certificate is not included and that I will send it to them once I receive it?
Thank you
April 6, 2021 at 03:03
You can try.
July 1, 2021 at 04:57
Did you sent your documents without the police records? Was is ok? Did the KCC said it was ok?
April 9, 2021 at 12:30
To whoever it may concern – I followed Brit’s advice and submitted my documents without having been asked for them (after 1 month wait), and in 4 days I got the “you are ready for scheduling”.
Very low EU number.
Thank you!

Hi Simon,
I am a DV2022 winner (OC6XX) and am so blessed to have found this blog, thank you!
Quick question and apologies if this has been covered, but have the KCC possibly reverted on the new procedure of requesting documents ahead of time for DV22?
Below is from the DS260 confirmation which states that it is not required.
“Thank You
Your Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application (DS-260) was sent to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) for review.
Next Steps
All Diversity Visa applicants must:
1. Obtain required supporting civil documents.
2. Obtain photographs that meet the Department of State’s visa requirements.
3. Review the information specific to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General where your visa interview will occur.
You do not need to submit any documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. The KCC will review your application and will notify you if any of the information you have provided is insufficient or incomplete. Your DS-260 application will be kept on file with KCC until a visa number is available for you and your case can be scheduled. When your case is scheduled, the KCC will send you an email message directing you to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) website for further instructions.”
Thank you in advance.
May 15, 2021 at 04:23
No, I don’t believe they have changed. Over the last year they have used some standard emails that are the “old” style. I asked KCC about that and they said it was a mistake. The official instructions still refer to sending documents.
April 9, 2021 at 19:41
Hi Brit,
I sent my documents several days ago and I received an email from KCC saying: KCC has determined that you have not yet provided sufficient documentation that you meet the passport requirement.
In the email I sent, I included my husband’s passport (expires in July 2022), my old passport (the one I used when I entered the lottery, that was to expire in 2026) and my new passport that expires in 2030.
I named my passport scans firstname_lastname(my new lastname) _passport_old/new.
I also explained in the email that I changed my lastname because I got married and as a result had to change my passport, too.
I’m not sure what could be the issue.
Did I maybe name the scans wrong?
I do have a document from when I requested to change my address. Should I send that, too?
And also, when I send another email to KCC, do I only send the passport scans or all documents?
Thank you and sorry for the long post.
April 10, 2021 at 16:59
I don’t know what you haven’t provided. Look very carefully at what you have sent. Phone KCC if possible.
April 21, 2021 at 12:44
Good Morning Brit,
I just wanted to bring to your attention that KCC asked me to submit my documents today, but the format of the email was different. They did not confirm the receipt of my DS-260, instead they asked me to make sure it is submitted as well (which is a bit confusing since I completed the application back in October.
I copied the email for your reference:

May 6, 2021 at 12:08
Hello sir, Did they already confirm your documents? I also have receives this kind of email as well.
April 25, 2021 at 00:57
Hello Mr Simon thank you for the massive efforts you put into this you literally are our number one news source on the dv lottery .
I hope you can provide me with answers to my questions :
1) I’m currently studying in France I came here last september , should i provide a police certificate from here as well ?
2) I will be interviewed in y country (Morocco) ,do I need to translate the documents (Originally in Arabic) ?
Thank you for your attention
April 25, 2021 at 18:18
1. Read the instructions!
2. Again, the instructions make this clear.
April 25, 2021 at 12:02
Hello Dear britsimon
In the Reciprocity page for Afghanistan, it says that birth certificates are not accepted for IV purposes instead the embassy will accept national id card as proof of birth or citizenship, also in the police records section it says: applicants for U.S. visas are not required to submit police clearances from Afghanistan.
So
1- Should I submit my national id card and name it as birth certificate?
2- Should I send the email without any file named as Police records or I state this issue on a document and submit it as Police records.
Thank you very much.
April 25, 2021 at 18:25
1. Possibly Yes – and attach the reciprocity page instructions.
2. Same as above.
Trust your own judgement on this.
April 25, 2021 at 22:25
Thank you very much, dear Mr Simon
May 5, 2021 at 19:42
I did not get an answer from kcc to send the documents (2021EU36xxx). Today I submitted my documents and the automatic reply did not receive from KCC. Should I worry that I just now sent the documents? Anyway, Hungarian Embassy still closed. Should the file receiving email answer come in minutes, hours, days or weeks? Thank you!
May 5, 2021 at 22:59
There is no predictability at the moment. None.
May 6, 2021 at 04:40
But when I send the documents the “automatic” email should come immadiately. Right? I have sent about 12 hours ago and still not got replay email that confirm the files were received.
May 7, 2021 at 14:13
You may have missed it going to a spam folder or something.
May 6, 2021 at 09:16
Hi Brit!
Yesterday and today I submitted again my documents and the automatic reply did not receive yet from KCC. Should the file receiving email answer come in minutes, hours, days or weeks? Is it come from from the mailserver or a human? Thank you!
May 7, 2021 at 16:05
Auto responses are automatically generated.
May 7, 2021 at 17:40
You were right, you are the best! I used my own domain email I assume their server droped the emails to spam. Than I used a gmail address and I got the auto reply. Thank you Brit!
May 7, 2021 at 21:59
OK good.
May 6, 2021 at 11:46
Hi Brit,
I sent my documents on April 2021 without being asked by KCC as my CN is 2021AF19XXX and today I have received mail from KCC asking for documents.
So my question is: Should I send my documents again? Please advise

I think that in some cases, sending the documents causes them to open a case file on the documents team – and that automatically sends out the email you received. That’s my guess. If you are sure the documents you sent are correct – then no need to send them again.
May 8, 2021 at 19:08
Thanks for your feedback, in case I send again no issue I think?
May 12, 2021 at 11:45
I am still waiting on one police certificate it will take approx 2 weeks to get it. Shall I still send the docs together with the acknowledgement that I applied to get the PC. In the video you mention we should send everything in one go then in the article that we can send that we applied. In that case I will need to re-send the entire package later again. In an ideal case this certificate is done in a month(requested in April when the DS-260 was submitted) but could be also longer. It will for sure get here by the interview(very worst case scenario/never happened). Last time I requested it was a month. Does it makes sense to send the docs now, given this certificate can take another two weeks and sending the package again when I got it. I might wait two weeks but what if it`s more. I haven`t asked for it earlier because my case was nowhere near current vs now everyone is current. Thanks,
May 13, 2021 at 03:22
Send the complete package.
July 1, 2021 at 05:01
Did you wait or submitted without the police certificate? If so, did they said it was ok?
May 12, 2021 at 21:18
Dear BritSimon Sir
Regarding the Documents naming convention, if someone has a two word first name like “Sayed Nasrat”, should he name the document:
1- 2021AS00012345_Sayed_Nasrat_Hashemi_Passport.pdf
or
2- 2021AS00012345_SayedNasrat_Hashemi_Passport.pdf
Thank you very much sir
May 13, 2021 at 05:18
Overthinking.
May 13, 2021 at 09:51
Hey Simon,
Thanks for all the info provided on this page! Got a question regarding Police Certificates,
What if a certificate is unobtainable at the moment (but possible later on), is it best to send an explanation letter on why it’s not obtainable to be sent electronically to KCC but will be available physically at the time of interview!
And do we send such explanation file with the same formât
2021AS0012345_John_Doe_Police_Certificate.pdf or 2021As0012345_John_Doe_Explanation_Letter.pdf
Or in a separate email?
May 14, 2021 at 00:23
You can try that, but if it is simply because you did not apply early enough they probably won’t accept that excuse.
May 13, 2021 at 10:17
Hi BritSimon I submitted my documents since March 19,2021 but up to now I have not yet received my interview appointment yet do you think I still have chance? AF82***
May 14, 2021 at 00:25
Probably very little chance. Read/watch the article/video I posted yesterday about the lawsuit.
May 15, 2021 at 19:38
Hello Brit I hava a question and dont know the answer. I am dv 2021 selectee, EU 37xxx case number, plaintiff in Goh lawsuit and want to send my documents.I have dual citizenship and 2 passports.
When sending my documents, do I need to send scan of both of my passports and birth certificates from both countries?
I already have both police certificates because I lived 19 years in one country and 10 in another.
Thanks
May 15, 2021 at 20:29
If in doubt, send everything.
May 18, 2021 at 11:26
Hi Mr. Simon,
Just want to thank you for the timely intervention about our case.
I must confess that I was not aware of this blog post until I came in contact with a friend who had already submitted her docs waiting for interview.
I have gathered and scanned the required docs as requested by the KCC. Am about to summit my docs as you urgently suggested. I will not wait for any notification from Kcc.
Our case number is 2021AF31xxxx. After submitting, I just wish our interview will be rapidly scheduled.
Hope Am not too late.
May 23, 2021 at 13:11
Hello Sir
I Just want to ask you the following questions. As a lucky person to be selected in this year and
My case number is 2022EU12xxx. I am preparing the docs before sending the DS260 for me and my wife.Note – I am the principiant and my wife is from latin america. The interview will be carried out in my country in europe.1) I just want to ask you if the birth certificate of my wife ( which is not citizen of my country- she is from Latin America) need to be with apostile when i am sending her docs and if we get to the interview in my country in europe.
2) Same for the marriage certificate. Do I need to send the one from my country where we just registrated the marriage year 2013(and it is written registrated) after being married in latin america.
Or both of them.
Thanks In advance Simon
May 23, 2021 at 19:10
1. Follow the reciprocity page instructions for documents from that country.
2. Both
May 26, 2021 at 05:01
Hello Brit Simon,
We do really appreciate your time, efforts and outstanding support helping thousands of people every year, keep it up 🙂
Case number 2022AS00030XXX
1- My question is that my passport will expire on Feb 2022 which is less than 9 months away from now, Do you recommend that I use this same passport to submit the DS-260 form or issue a new passport so I don’t face the risk of my passport getting expired or be less than 6 months valid throughout the process of collecting the needed documents, submitting the DS-260 form and moving forward to the interview process?
There is no clear instruction for “Soon to be expired” passport case what is always discussed is “Expired passport”
Keeping in mind that the new passport number will be different than the one that I used when I entered the DV 2022 program back in October 2020.
2- Also for Good conduct certificate should I issue a new one with the new passport number (in case I issued a new passport at later stage) or the one with the old passport number should be enough as long as it’s valid even though that the passport details will be old.
3- In case I used my soon to be expired and then issued new passport should I reopen my case to update the new passport details in DS-260 form or I should just take it to the interview without noticing KCC.
May 26, 2021 at 05:30
1. Your passport will have expired before you ever get an interview, so renew it.
2. Use your judgement
3. Update once it is renewed.
June 4, 2021 at 09:08
Hi britsimon,
I have a question regarding police certificate
I have police certificate from nepal and New Zealand they both are in soft copy and i am currently in australia. Can we print those documents and take it with us during our interview?
Thank you
June 5, 2021 at 14:44
Yes.
June 6, 2021 at 08:49
Dear Brit,
I am a dv selectee 2022AF00046**** and my question is can I have a sponsor outside US Like in UK but get a living address in US.
Thank you
June 6, 2021 at 19:17
No. The sponsor completing an I-134 must be a US resident/taxpayer.
June 7, 2021 at 05:05
Thank you some more enquirers,
1.When filling the DS-260 form, does one put two of his/her highest educational achievements
2. Does the host necessarily need to be the sponsor or it can be different?
3. The work experience part only full time employment counts?
4. The supporting documents part like when one puts his/her assets like plots of lands does the individual need to take the original documents at the interview if he/she lives in a different country than his nationality?
5. I did a lot of social voluntary work but they don’t give certificates what should I do about that I want to clear all.
Thank you so much for your time and services 2022AF00046k
June 7, 2021 at 05:10
One more question.
I got my certificate of character from our police headquarters since 2015 when I was traveling can I use that one to apply for visa or need one but I only went back once and didn’t stay longer thank a month
June 8, 2021 at 17:40
I would suggest getting a new police cert.
June 7, 2021 at 21:43
1. List all education from about age 12
2. Can be different.
3. Pretty much, yes.
4. They really are only interested in liquid assets such as bank accounts.
5. No need to list that.
June 9, 2021 at 18:35
Thank you so much Brit for all the responses. I have watched all your videos at the stage I am and more. I will stick to your golden advice and loads of thanks once again
June 8, 2021 at 02:48
Hay Brit.
I am 2022case number 55** i sent my ds 260 form 15 days a go . How long it usually takes for kcc to ask my for supporting documents . if i know it approximately it will help me to stop checing my mailbox many times per day:)
YOU ARE THE BEST
June 8, 2021 at 22:46
I can’t guess your year and region, so your case number is meaningless.
You will need to learn some patience.
June 10, 2021 at 22:14
Ah you right,2022AS55**
I wanted be patient but i see you suggest to some people to send their documents any way even if they didnt get back to them . That’s why i wted to ask if they didnt send us email for documents should we send the documents?
After how long should we do thay i am asking for 2022winners .
June 11, 2021 at 03:32
You can send the documents within a few weeks if you haven’t heard from them.
June 8, 2021 at 05:11
Brit,
First, you have already helped me a lot with your blog and in the forum (and I got my Green Card last year), thanks from the bottom of my heart.
I am helping a friend who also won DV (2021). She is doing CP.
She has followed your document processing guide to the spot. Her paperwork is very straightforward. Only question is:
Q1: When she sends all her documents as a single PDF, does she need insert cover page or index page in between each document? As in, A blank page just stating “Passport Bio Page” and then the scan copy of the passport in the next page. Then, another blank page with title “Birth certificate and certified translation” then the scan of the brith certificate and translation.
I used that during my AOS following tips from forum and friend and my paperwork was processed without any complication.
Would love your advice, and you can just tell me I am overthinking and send documents “as is” as a single scan file.
Again THANKS THANKS and Thanks
June 8, 2021 at 22:48
1. Probably overthinking. Just make the documents clear in any way you think makes sense.
June 12, 2021 at 23:00
Dear Britsimon
2022as55**
I have a question regarding ds260form
The city that i was born there had another name when i was born so in my bith certificate and also my education certificate the old name is written . But they changed the city name many years a go my ID and passport has the new name on it . So when they ask the city of birth in ds260form i wrot the new name of the city according to my passport. but if they check my birth or married certificate they are going to see the old name as a city of birth .
Is it going to be a problem . Are the bother themselves to check this in internet or should I mention this somehow when they aske my for documents
June 13, 2021 at 15:10
It’s not a problem.
June 13, 2021 at 09:04
Hay Britsimon
I have a question for other Dv winner but since she doesn’t speak English asked my to do that for her.
She is 2022as12*** she just submitted her ds260and then she realized that she forgot to write down Turkey as one of the country that she visit during last 5years. Should she unlock the form and add the country name or its not important . Is unlocking going to cause delay in her process?
Thank you in advance
June 13, 2021 at 15:31
There is plenty of time for her to wait, so she may as well unlock and correct the DS260.
June 13, 2021 at 15:56
Hi Brit
I have been working on a project in a country since 2014. but have never been there for more than 6 months unbroken.
1-I would prepare and send a police certificate anyway from than country. Is it confusing for KCC to send them a PCC without mentioning that country in address section as where I lived? I just want to list my addresses in my home country because I only was send there occasionally for that project in sort and long periods.
2- reciprocity instructions says PCC from my home country is not required. So should I make a pdf from reciprocity instructions page and send it instead or just send my package without PCC.
June 13, 2021 at 16:04
1. If in doubt, get the Police cert. It can’t harm.
2. Send the screenshot/explanation.
June 13, 2021 at 20:12
Dear Simon,
My CN is 2022AS1xxxx
I’ve already sent an Email for unlocking my DS-260 form.
Can I send my docs before my form got unlocked?
Is it a good time now for sending docs to KCC without being asked? or should I wait until a couple of months?
June 15, 2021 at 05:18
No need to rush.
June 14, 2021 at 11:31
Dear Brit,
Thank you for your time and support that your providing for DV winners. I am a DV 2022 winner with 2022AS134xx case number, I have some questions regarding submitting the documents which are as follow:
1. I have submitted my DS-260 form on 10th May and still didn’t get any request from KCC for sending documents should i send it anyways or wait a few more weeks?
2. My passport is going to expire in October 2021 but I have already requested for renewal and i will get it soon in a month time, so at the moment should I send the old passport or I should wait to get my new passport and send both off them together?
Thanks and best regards,
Ali
June 15, 2021 at 05:36
1. Your number is not low so they probably won’t ask you for a couple of months at least. That is fine – I would wait if I were you.
2. Renew then send both.
June 15, 2021 at 19:32
dear BritSimon greetings ,I want ask one Question regarding Dv.
~ Early submission of Ds260 does any significance ?
June 16, 2021 at 04:23
Not really.
June 18, 2021 at 00:03
Hi Brit,
I am a Dv2022 winner from African but lives in Saudi Arabia, when I originally filled the lottery form back in October 2020 my passport was expired (on August 2020) due to the Covid-19 our embassy was not working in full capacity and they were not issuing new passports, instead the used a stamp at one of the pages to extend the passport up to ( 1 June 2021 which is the date i used when filling the dv lottery) ( the stamp in local languages) and this stamp was accepted by the Saudi government, so now I applied for the new passport on June 2021 and waiting for it to arrive so i can fill the ds260 with the new passport info.
My Q. is this will make a problem form me when i send the required doc to the KCC and should i explain it in the email and how (by how i mean should i write this explanation in a pdf latter in the same file with passport scan).
June 19, 2021 at 05:02
I don’t know if they will accept that explanation – you can try if you want.
June 20, 2021 at 11:33
Hay Britsimon
I am DV lottery winner 2022as56**
1) I have associate degree and after that I went to other university to get bachelor but after 1 semester I quit . I didnt write this in my SD260 form . Because I thought we should write the one that we have certificate for . is it program and I should unlock or not.
2) I have created many social media and I didnt remember all of them since i removed them from my phon long time a go . Is it going to be problem?
Sall we write the only one that we use or all the old social medias ?
.
Thank you
June 22, 2021 at 13:16
1. No need to correct that.
2. Just do the best you can.

Concerning the Military certificate , my wife is the Selectee and in Egypt women does not serve in military should I attach my certificate noted that I am Exempted from compulsory military service
June 24, 2021 at 04:17
Yes you should show your exemption.
June 24, 2021 at 09:08
Hello Simon! Thank you for your effort!
I am a DV2021 selectee and I have a question regarding the police certificate. When I was traveling back in 2016 I had a flight transfer, in one of the airports (Singapore) border officers and police seized one of the items I had in a handbag (not me but my accompany who is now a derivative). That was seized because this item is prohibited under local law. We have a copy of the Police Advisory document showing what item has been seized and that no actions were taken against us.
My own judgment tells me that I do not need to request the Police certificate from Singapore as there was no crime (we were not arrested or convicted). I think the maximum I would need to do is to probably bring that copy of the Police Advisory document to the interview and show it to the CO in case asked.
Please, let me know, based on your experience, if you think otherwise. Thank you!
June 24, 2021 at 15:04
You were not arrested, so no.
June 24, 2021 at 16:28
Dear Brit,
Thank you for your time and support that your providing for DV winners.
I have a question, if I have dual citizenship, Romanian and Moldovan birth certificate, Romanian and Moldovan passport, do you suggest I load both or just one?
Thank you!
June 26, 2021 at 16:48
Both should be in the DS260 and both provided as documents.
June 25, 2021 at 20:39
Hello Brit,
I’m from Ghana and my case number is 2021AF000101xx. Do you have any hopes for us since Accra Embassy hasn’t started processing. Or they have started processing DV lottery.
Thanks
June 26, 2021 at 17:27
Entirely depends on whether your case is ready for scheduling or not.
June 27, 2021 at 00:44
Dear Brit,
I have two enquires I want to make;
1. In your own point of view what’s the estimated amount an individual applicant need to to have as savings that can make him or her not required to provide affidavit of support in the USA.
2. Second question I listen to one YouTube who said as a dv selectee one doesn’t need to provide an affidavit of support because it’s sponsored by the government which I think is a total miss information. But I want to ask whether and affidavit of support is needed for a dv selectee because you’ve been very clear with all the videos I watched.
Thank you for your time and clarity

Hay Simon.
I have a question regarding a part of the DS260 form ,where it ask for your social medias.
I personally wrot whatever I had .but after submitting i remembered ,ah i creat other accounts like Instagram and then I stop using them and i forgot about them .are they going to consider this as dishonesty? Should I unlock and add .
Whenever there is a new social media like TikTok i like to try so i install them then when i see its itupid i remove them .i honestly dont remember some of them.
And I remember them after submitting the form

June 28, 2021 at 21:59
Just be honest, and don’t overthink small details.
June 29, 2021 at 06:44
Dear Brit,
How should I write an appropriate Title and format in the email that I am trying to follow up my status.
Because I have sent my documents for one month. However, I am still waiting for KCC’s confirmation for the next step.
Please kindly let me know how to do.
Thank you.
June 29, 2021 at 12:52
Read the FAQ for contacting KCC.
July 27, 2021 at 00:45
Hello Sir Simon greetings to you. My question is regarding where they asked for social media handles. I included my social media handles. Instagram Facebook and youtube.
My instagram and youtube carries my real names but my Facebook doesn’t.
I didn’t include the Facebook name as an alias.
My question is if this is a major issue that needs me to unlock 260 and adjust?
Thank you so much for all you do and stay blessed
July 27, 2021 at 06:00
No
June 30, 2021 at 15:31
Hay Britsimon
One of the winner have a question but he can not speak English thats why he asked me to ask you about his problem.
His case number is 2022AS47**
He is Iranian living in Germany .(he is a student in Greece)
When he understood that he have been selected for DV Visa،in order to get the best results he went to an immigration lawyer to help him for the next steps .
They told him as he is Iranian and there is no US embassy in Iran he can go to Turkey or Abu Dhabi .. for interview .
He thought as he does not have permanent resident in Germany he can not be interviewed in Germany
So he selected to be interviewed in Abu Dhabi.while he live in Germany as a student.
Of course the immigration lawyer also told him he should do that.
Now his questions are :
1) Can he be interviewed in Germany?
2)if yes should he unlock and change the embassy now ??
3)Is it going to couse him delay in process?
4) over all what do you think which embassy is more reasonable to choose . Germany or Abu Dhabi???
All the best
July 2, 2021 at 04:18
The “lawyer” he spoke to was an idiot.
1. Yes
2. Yes (making sure you lists his address in Germany)
3. No
4. Really?
July 3, 2021 at 09:27
For changing the embassy should he unlock and change the embassy or send an email to KCC and request to change the embassy ?
Because I heard there is an email that you should write in order to change the embassy . İf its like that is there any specific stracture for this email .
Thank you in advance
July 3, 2021 at 16:27
If he listed a German address, they will schedule him in Germany. He could email KCC to clarify that if he wants.
July 1, 2021 at 00:51
Hi Simon. DV2021 here, trying to submit my documents, but the police criminal records check take too long (need them from 3 countries). It says in the email to submit ALL documemts otherwise it won’t be processed. But it also says “If you cannot obtain a particular document, send an explanation of why … ”
If I send my documents without the police records, mentioning it takes too long, do I have any chance of them processing my case without?
July 2, 2021 at 04:24
Probably not. You really have left it far too late.
July 3, 2021 at 10:53
Hi brit
Im from Syria 2021AS9xxx
I got this email from kcc
Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current and appointments are available. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on region and which case numbers have already been processed.
I have checked and my case is still in NVC ..
1. Am I done with KCC?
2. Am I going to get the 2nl soon?
3. Do I need a sponsor for me, my husband and 3 kids?
July 3, 2021 at 16:29
1. No – you now have to wait to see if they schedule an interview for you.
2. I don’t know – there is not much time left and you probably have very little chance.
3. You should get an I-134 if you get an interview, yes.
July 4, 2021 at 16:05
Could you Pl tell us when you submitted your documents and when you received this message, thank you very much
July 4, 2021 at 16:13
AM A DV22 WINNER AND MY WIFE IS PREGNANT, I HAVE ADDED HER CASE (ACCOMPANY) ON MY DS260 WHICH I HAVEN’T YET SUBMITTED. BUT JUST TODAY SHE SAID BCOS OF THE PREGNANCY SHE DOESN’T WANT TO TRAVEL ANY TIME SOONER.
AND IT SEEMS I CAN’T REMOVE HER CASE FROM THE DS260 ONCE ADDED.PLEASE WHAT HOW SHOULD I GO ABOUT IT?
July 4, 2021 at 16:36
You can’t remove her, so you might consider not submitting her DS260 – but please understand that the answer is a guess because you have not told me your case number.

Use your own judgement.
