***UPDATE – please watch this video to make sure you do not make a mistake***
One of the blog readers received his documents required email and noticed there was a difference in the format and content of the email. Thanks Ran!
I think it’s an interesting and important change – so I wanted to get this out.
I will include the new email text below, but I will first call out some important differences.
First – the email timing may have changed. Previously the email talked about the DS260 processing being finished. The new format talks about the DS260 having been submitted. That suggests that they are going to ask for documents earlier – soon, or immediately after DS260 submission. There was a case a few days ago that was asked within a few days of submission – so this email format and my assumption is somewhat corroborated by that report.
Second the marriage and divorce documentation are now being requested (where that is needed). So married people are being asked to provide those documents before getting interviews scheduled. That is important.
Third this is now a naming convention being suggested for the documents themselves – and more clarity about how the email should be referenced. I’m sure this is an attempt to improve the workflow for the backend team who are processing these documents, so stick closely to these formats if you want a smooth document procedure.
Let me expand on their naming convention – these are ideal filenames to make it as simple as possible for them.
Each document should be scanned and saved with a filename that clearly identifies the case number, applicant name (principal or derivative name), and finally the document.
Case Number, they are showing they want the full case number with leading zeros – KCC often “prefer” the leading zeros to ensure precise reference of the case. Use that for the document and the subject.
Name should be firstname_lastname format.
Document should be one of the following list Passport, Birth_Certificate, Marriage_certificate, Divorce_document, Death_certificate, Annulment_paper, Military_record, Police_certificate_country_XXX , Court_record_country_XXX.
If translations are needed, then add “_translation” on the filename.
So you will end up with documents like this:
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_police_certificate_country_france.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_police_certificate_country_france_translation.pdf 2020AF00938653_John_Doe_marriage_certificate.pdf
2020AF00938653_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf
and so on…
I hope that’s clear. You can combine one persons documents into one multiple page scan – so in that case just change the filename to say “all_documents” after the applicant name. Really – just use some common sense about this. The email below has all the instructions already.
Their example (and mine) uses pdf as the file extension but you can also scan files to jpg or jpeg file format.
Lastly – I get a lot of people asking several questions. Let me try and list those here to cut down on the times I am asked these same things.
Q: Should send documents without being asked?
A: There really isn’t any need to do that unless we are getting late in the processing year (say March/April). Until then, wait for your request, especially if your case number is high anyway.
***Update*** in DV2021 and DV2022 it is clear that sending documents without being asked is probably the best choice, on balance. It has worked for some people and you cannot just sit and wait while KCC get around to asking you.
Q: Does getting this email guarantee an appointment/that they are happy with my DS260/That there are enough visas etc.
A: No – none of those things can be assumed simply because you got this email.
Q: What is the order that these emails are sent/is it case number order/why has so and so number had theirs when I have not had mine.
A: We do not know the order in which these emails are sent. Don’t worry about it – nothing should be assumed about that order or the lack of an order. RELAX!
Q: If I send my documents early, can I be interviewed before my case number is current on the Visa Bulletin.
A: NO!!!!! No one is scheduled until their case number is current.
Q: I already sent the documents before this change, do I need to send again?
A: If you received the email that starts “Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center.” then NO you would not need to send again. If you have not received that email, you may need to send documents again – please wait a few days then check with KCC.
OK – so here is the email with full instructions. Please read it – and don’t ask me questions that are directly answered in the email or this article. PLEASE. I am CRAZY busy at the moment in my own work AND the busy lottery season. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be respectful of my time.
——————————————- Email Pasted Below ——————————————
Dear <<Name>>:
Congratulations on your selection for the 2020 Diversity Visa program!
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) hereby confirms receipt of the DS-260 Diversity Visa application form for you and each accompanying family member(s). Please read this email and carefully follow the instructions listed in order to have your application processed as quickly as possible.
Now that your application form has been submitted, you should review the list of required documents for processing below and send those to KCC to review as part of your application package. You will only be scheduled for interview at an overseas consular post after you have submitted all documents required for your case and your visa rank number has become current.
All documents should be submitted as attachments to your email to ensure they are properly received. We ask that you use the following method to name and attach your files:
– Your DV case number;
– The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; and
– The document name or form number.
For example:
2020AF00938653_John_Doe_Passport.pdf
2020AF00938653_Jane_Doe_Birth_Certificate.pdf
Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address.
Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
* IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not mail any documents to KCC. Any documents sent to KCC will not be processed and will be destroyed.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States should collect the civil documents that are required to support your visa application.
Passport Biographic Page: You and each family member immigrating with you must submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of a currently valid passport. The biographic data page is the page with your photograph, name, date, and place of birth.
Birth Certificate: You and each family member immigrating with you must submit a scan of an original birth certificate or certified copy.
Marriage Certificate: If you are married, you must submit a scan of your original marriage certificate or certified copy.
Marriage Termination Documentation: If you were previously married, you must submit scanned evidence of the termination of EVERY prior marriage you have had. Your scanned evidence must be of an original or certified copy of one of the following documents: FINAL legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers.
Military Records: If you served in the military of any country, you must submit a scanned copy of your military record.
Police Certificates: If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a scanned copy of a police certificate from all countries you have lived in using below criteria:
If you … | AND you… | THEN submit a police certificate from… |
Are 16 years old or older | Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life | Your country of nationality |
Are 16 years old or older | Have lived in your country of current residence (if different from nationality) for more than 6 months | Your country of current residence |
Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more | Were 16 years or older at the time you lived there | The country where you used to live. |
Were arrested for any reason, regardless of how long you lived in that city or country, and no matter what age you were | The city and/or country where you were arrested. |
Court Record: If you have been convicted of a crime, provide a certified copy of each court record and any prison record.
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. If you cannot obtain a particular document, send an explanation of why you cannot obtain the document, as an attachment in .jpeg or .pdf format, to [email protected], with your case number in the subject line. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
If you have questions about document submission, you may contact KCC at [email protected]. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST).

Hi Britsimon
I am from Iran
My case number 2022as5***
I submitted the DS 260 and i think i made a mistake there.
1) how many years of employment should be recorded in ds260 ? People say 10 years is it true??
2) is writing the unofficial jobs that you have no proof for it necessary?
( I didn’t write this kind of job because I thought if they ask me for documents i have nothing to show and they think i am laying.
3) in case that i should write the unofficial jobs even with no prove . Should i request unlock the form or there is any other way to include them later when the ds5536 form,?
Thank you
July 10, 2021 at 17:36
1. What does the form ask for?
2. No proof is required, just answer the question.
3. See 2
July 11, 2021 at 06:50
Sorry my English is. Not good enough to understand what do you mean for my question 3
can I add the jobs that I didnt write later in ds5535 form or I should unlock the form??
Case number 2022as5***
July 12, 2021 at 20:13
I think I was clear – you need to give honest, complete answers. So – unlock if you think your DS260 is inaccurate.
July 11, 2021 at 15:29
Hello Brit, First of all thank you very much for your help. I am the winner of DV 2022 with case #2022AS134xx living in Europe, I have a question about police certificate submission and its that:
1. Should both the applicant and co applicant needs to provide the police certificate or only the main applicant should submit it ?
2. What will happen if one is not able to provide from one. Because the co applicant cannot go to his country to get the police certificate from there but can get one from the country where he is living right now.
The main applicant can get both from her country and the country where she is living right now.
Thanks and best regards.
Ali
July 12, 2021 at 20:50
1. Both
2. You check the instructions on the reciprocity page. If in that page it says the police cert is unavailable, then it is not required.
July 17, 2021 at 12:43
Dear Mr. Simon,
I went and check the reciprocity page for Afghansitan and it is written as below:
Police Records:
Partially available for very limited periods. Not required for the U.S. visa process due to their unreliability.
Comments: These documents are considered to be completely unreliable and, as such, applicants for U.S. visas are not required to submit police clearances from Afghanistan.
1. So now should i just copy and past this information and name it police clearance from Afghanistan?
2. My second question is that US embassy in Sweden is not processing the DV visas at the moment so can I contact the KCC to unlock my DS-260 and change embassy to any other US embassy which is processing the DV visas or they will not accept applicants from a country where you are not resident of ?
3. How long more should i wait for getting email for submitting the documents to KCC for the Case ##2022AS134xx or I should send to them without waiting ?
Thank you very much for you support and help.
July 18, 2021 at 04:34
1. Yes
2. Most other embassies are not accepting such cases – but things could change before you are eligible for interview.

Hope you are doing well Mr Simon. About The documents to be submitted, only the principal Applicant submit or all the derivatives should also submit?

Read the article!
July 14, 2021 at 08:16
Hi Simon. DV2022 selectee here, AF3K. I realized I made a mistake in my ds260 and asked for unlocking well over a month ago. Obviously KCC isn’t replying to 2022 cases,
1. My question is, will sending supporting docs while the unlock request is pending conflict?
2. After my ds260 is unlocked and resubmitted, and I had sent the docs prior to the unlock, does that mean I have to resend docs?
July 15, 2021 at 04:08
Hello God. I’m sorry I never believed you exist and you are now right here on my blog!!! And you are a DV selectee!! Wow.
1. No
2. No

and also both my adopted parent is dead, my dad in 2008 and my mom in 2020. Do I need to provide their death certificate too to send it with the other document or wait until I present the day of the interview?
thank you for your time and consideration
July 15, 2021 at 04:27
List your adopted parents. No death certs will be needed.

Correct
July 15, 2021 at 04:44
Greetings Brit,
1. I am processing for DV 2022 program, I had filled out DS-260 form on May, and still have not received any information regarding submission of documents. I am confused whether I should be submitting the documents without being contacted or not?
2. And also my education background is, I have completed my undergrad, but my high school degree is A levels which is not complete so had done foundation course for my bachelors degree, now with the research I have done, I do not think I will meet educational background, or will I?
3. And for work experience, I am a fulltime Project Manager and Lead Software tester in a fintech company, This July it will be 2 years complete. And also I have a 3 months internship done as a Software developer back in 2018.
Should I be processing further for 2022 program? Do I qualify for any of the two requirements ?
By the way your blogs and videos are really helpful, Thank You in advance !
July 16, 2021 at 03:11
1. It’s your choice. Wait to be asked, or send them anyway.
2. That might be a problem – it depends on the CO. They could accept your higher degree OR they could be picky about a fomal course of secondary education.
3. This will probably qualify you (work experience). Go ahead.
July 15, 2021 at 09:33
Hi Simon,
Would you please review my civil documents for me if you have time to. I do not have your email sir if you please share with me through messenger I have messaged you already.
Thank you
Aman
July 16, 2021 at 03:18
I don’t have time to do that for people.
July 15, 2021 at 15:17
Hello Simon,
Thanks for all the info 🙂
My case number is 2021AF00018***
I have received the document reception confirmation email from KCC on June 10th : “Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current and appointments are available.” but my interview is not scheduled yet
I am living in Montreal so I initially requested my application to be processed here, but I heard that the embassy here is too overloaded due to pending work accumulated over the pandemic and so it’s not prioritizing DV lottery visas. So, I am considering requesting to move the processing of my application to Tunisia (where am originally from) which might be less overloaded.
1) Is that a good move?
2) Is it possible for someone with case number AF20000 to get an interview in a less trafficked embassy A while someone with case number AF10000 is still waiting because embassy B is overloaded ?
Much appreciated
July 16, 2021 at 03:36
1. It would have been a couple of months ago. Now – it might be too late.
2. Yes
July 16, 2021 at 03:46
Hi Simon,
Would you please review my documents, if you have time please share your email sir.
Thank you
July 16, 2021 at 14:25
Dear Simon,
I’m DV 2021 and I need your clear feedback.
I have sent scan of original documents to KCC without translation to English.. documents in official language (arabic/french)
Is it OK or should I resend translated ones??
July 18, 2021 at 03:53
If Arabic/French is the official language where your interviewing embassy is located, then no translation needed.
July 17, 2021 at 13:30
Hi Brit,
My partner and I are not legally married with a marriage certificate although we’ve been together for almost ten years. I have submitted my DS-260 as single because of this and my lottery application also was completed as unmarried.
We will be married in the next two weeks and I will have the formal certificate shortly after that. I am planning to amend my DS-260 to reflect that I got married. Is there anything else I should know before I do this? Also, should I wait until I have I have the marriage certificate and amend the DS-260 to send all my documents? Or should I send all my required documents minus the certificate now that my application is single and then follow up with the marriage certificate once I have it?
Any other advice that you have about acquiring my certificate after winning the lottery and before obtaining my visa would be greatly appreciated.

Case number?
July 18, 2021 at 15:38
2022SA00002619
Full disclosure, I (John) am a U.S. citizen and attorney. My wife and I are providing assistance to my friend and DV 2022 winner Kelvin from Venezuela (currently displaced in Lima, PE), his three children, and his partner.
Any direction about this particular circumstance would be greatly appreciated. Obviously, we don’t want any member of the family to be left behind.
Thank you so much.
July 18, 2021 at 17:29
John, its a simple process, generally handled without the need for attorneys. Kelvin would complete DS260’s for himself and derivatives, then submit some basic documents and finally wait for an interview which could be held in Lima. His case number is fairly high, so it will be quite well into 2022 before he can interview. Much is covered in my FAQ, but feel free to ask if anything is unclear.
July 19, 2021 at 04:53
Hi Brit, for DV2022SA, what is your guess about case number cut to be interviewed during 2021?
July 21, 2021 at 02:51
The numbers are irrelevant.
July 29, 2021 at 17:22
Exactly, theres actually a WhatsApp group for people that will get interview in Peru, in case youd like Kelvin to join, tell him to text me @ +51 980 655 307 🙂
July 18, 2021 at 00:42
I forgot to include my date of birth in my email when sending my documents to KCC. I’m a DV2021 applicant. Should I be worried? I made sure to include every other detail.
July 18, 2021 at 05:20
No

July 18, 2021 at 12:11
Hi Brit,
Q1. Regarding doc translation is it intended for KCC or the embassy, some of my doc are only in arabic ( the official language of the country where i intend to make my interview) so do i need to translate them.
Q2. How do i know if the embassy where i live dose not require doc translation, where i can find this information.
July 18, 2021 at 17:19
1. No
2. The instructions.
July 18, 2021 at 12:17
Hello Simon,
I have a question. Does being conscientious objector and choosing to go to the selective service system instead, count as military service? I’m asking this because, when feeling out DS-260, the part that asks you, if you served in military or not, only offers choices, like your rank in military, position, etc. There is no option for conscientious objector. So, when I came across that question, I just checked that I “didn’t serve in military”.
July 18, 2021 at 17:20
Use your own judgement based on what you did…
July 25, 2021 at 08:15
Coscenscious objector in Italy was at the time known as civil service and it was an alternative to the military service, when it was mandatory. I think checking “didn’t serve in military” is correct.
July 18, 2021 at 19:21
Hi Simon,
Do you think that sending the documents few times, lets say once every 2 months, is a smart thing to do so I’ll increase the chance that they will received and process them?
Thanks in advance!
July 21, 2021 at 00:14
Who knows. It might be good, it might confuse them. Do what you think is best/.
July 18, 2021 at 20:14
Hello Mr. Simon!
I have a question, I am a DV-LOTTERY 2021 winner from Asia region and from Afghanistan. My case number is 24.5K above and I haven’t received supporting documents email, yet.
In the other hand I have a more then 2 years of experience with Americans and I am a SIV eligible. Can I apply for an SIV as well?
July 21, 2021 at 00:20
Yes
July 19, 2021 at 23:35
Hello Simon,
Regarding police certificates… I’m a little confused as to wheter or not I need one for the USA. I currently reside in CA on a non immigrant visa, it states “Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.” Although I am resident of CA I am not technically a US resident so would this mean i need to obtain one and if so, do I need an FBI clearance or a state clearance from the CA DOJ?
t=Thanks.
July 21, 2021 at 04:57
You don’t need police certs for USA. Ever.
AOS cases don’t need police certs.
You will need police certs for other countries only if doing Consular processing.
July 20, 2021 at 02:52

Hay Britsimon
I Know my question might look weird but as I am a refugee in Europe I need to ask this .
im dv2022
As a refugee in order to get to Europe I crossed one contry so it wasn’t official travel . And I stayed in this country only one day . Should I mention this country in my Ds260 as a country that i traveled?
What is your opinion .
July 21, 2021 at 05:18
No
July 20, 2021 at 14:18
Hi,
Can I email my partners documents with mine or does it have to be specific to the email they would send it to (I’m sending ahead of time)
July 21, 2021 at 05:36
You send all the documents.
July 20, 2021 at 14:45
Hello Simon,
I hope you are doing well. I am a Dv2022ASxxxx selectee, as per your advice sending the documents without being asked is what I am trying to do but I am having a question regarding
1. My passport is getting expired in October, should i wait to extend its time or right away send its bio page?
2. About the police certificates I have completed my high school in Pakistan and i am currently living in Afghanistan and both of the countries police certificates are not trusted mean not required for the visa process so what should i do with that?
3. My birth certificate and National Identity card are translated and varified by ministry of foreign affairs still is it necessary to put the translator statement in the bottom line as the translators here are officially registered and stamps every page they translate?
Thanks in advance.
July 21, 2021 at 05:38
1. Your choice.
2. “Not required” is clear, right?
3. Follow their normal procedure.
July 22, 2021 at 02:44
Dear Simon, I’m inquiring on behalf of my sister who is a DV2021 winner. Her case number is 2021EU69XX. Sent her DS260 in Oct. 2020; then sent a few inquiries about the status of her case and never received a request to submit her supporting documents. Unfortunately, I discovered you, and Charles Kuck and others only few weeks ago… so, following the advice received she will submit her supporting documents by the end of this week…
By looking at the following website (https://savediversityvisa.org/daily-visa-statistics/), it seems also that people with her case numbers than hers are being interviewed… is it correct? I know I’m not understanding everything those numbers are saying – for example, I do not know what AP or CN stand for, and why there are two columns at the beginning of the page ?
July 24, 2021 at 02:32
Reading the FAQ would help.
But yes – people with high case numbers are being scheduled because their DS260s and documents were processed long ago.
July 24, 2021 at 00:46
Dear Britsimon,
Seeking for an advice;
My Case number is 2022AF46k but the country I live I believe the US embassy will not be very busy here and luckily it’s open. I submitted my DS-260 already is it a good idea to upload and send my documents now or do you suggest I wait and when do you think is the most suitable time bearing in mind that I have a high case number but living in a place where I can stand a chance of being called early. Secondly if I send my documents and don’t hear from them for very long can I resend them again or do Suggest I just email to ask if they are received? Any advice please Thank you for your support
July 24, 2021 at 06:11
You can’t be called before your case number is ready.
You would ask them.
July 24, 2021 at 08:06
Thank you. On normal circumstances a person with my case number normally gets called around when?
July 24, 2021 at 19:51
Hello Britsimon i hope u r in good health i am selected DV2022

July 25, 2021 at 12:14
Should I send educational certificates to confirm that I have a qualification higher than high school degree?
July 25, 2021 at 22:18
You take proof to the interview.
July 25, 2021 at 16:28
Hello Mr simon
I’m dv21 winner and couple days ago I received the supporting documents email
and it says that
You should review the list of required documents for processing below and send those to KCC to review as part of your application package, along with completing your DS-260. You will only be scheduled for interview at an overseas consular post after you have completed your DS-260 and submitted all documents required for your case and your visa rank number has become current.
But I completed my DS-260 and I even received the confirmatione email after I submitted the DS-260
So does this mean that there is something wrong with my DS-260? or is it just something they write in the email?
July 25, 2021 at 22:24
Just a standard email.
July 25, 2021 at 18:00
I studied in Algeria only 9 years and i have a diploma ( 2 years training, Professional competence) Zone 4, SVP Range (7.0 to < 8.0) + 3 years experience.
Is there any chance of obtaining a visa if I win the lottery or must complete 12 years of schooling?
Please i really need an answer.
July 25, 2021 at 22:28
If you really need an answer you should learn to check the FAQ.

Hello sir
I have sent my documents since April but without the zeros at the head of my case number do you think that I must resend with your instructions please my case is 2021AF47XXX. Thanks
July 25, 2021 at 22:35
Yes, resend. It is not going to help by the deadline, but if the lawsuits achieve a preservation of visas then it might become useful.
July 25, 2021 at 22:48
in my DS260 I wrote my mother name fully (4 names).
but My country Egypt give me a bilingual birth certificate with mother name (3 names only without the last name)
Is there an issue ?
July 27, 2021 at 05:29
No. The COs should be used to that.
July 27, 2021 at 16:26
Thank you Sir.
But what do you mean y COs?
July 28, 2021 at 23:23
Consular officer. It’s in the FAQ.
July 26, 2021 at 09:08
Dear BritSimon,
I’m a DV2022 lottery winner & live in Sri Lanka. Already completed the DV-260 & my case number is AS20***. As per your above replies, this is a quite high case number. But I’m hoping to send document/s as you mentioned above.
After read your page I end up with a question like below,
Do I need to submit all the documents listed above or I have to submit only one document?
Passport
Birth_Certificate
Marriage_certificate
Divorce_document
Death_certificate
Annulment_paper
Military_record
Police_certificate_country_XXX
Court_record_country_XXX.
These documents can be provide. (I have applied this lottery for myself only & not married yet. Also, I haven’t served for Military)
Passport – Can provide a Scan Copy
Birth_Certificate – Have to translate. This is in my country language. Also, can provide.
Police_certificate_country_XXX – Is this document compulsory to submit? If yes, do I need to translate?
Court_record_country_XXX. – Is this document compulsory to submit? If yes, do I need to translate?

July 28, 2021 at 16:52
Hi simon,
To whom we have to address the military service report?…
July 29, 2021 at 16:10
To whom it may concern
July 28, 2021 at 19:55
Dear Brit,

July 30, 2021 at 05:22
Hello Britsimon
Thank you so much for taking some of your Precious time to help us. Your informations are very helpful and we are really grateful. I’m DV2022AF5###. I submitted my DS260 in June and after a month I submitted my documents Without having receive an email of documents request from Kcc. My questions are.
1. Do you think I did the right thing by sending my documents because I got a low case number ?
2. Should I email them later to check if they receive my documents or email them now?
Thanks
July 30, 2021 at 19:40
1. Yes
2. Your choice.
July 30, 2021 at 13:16
Dear SImon,
as I am just preparing to submit documents to KCC and I have two questions:
1. Do we need to write anything within body of the email, suck as Case number, Name, Country…..
2. My police certificate from third country was translated by certified court interpreter (offical for the country I live in) and it includes a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate but it doesnt have statement that translator is competent to translate. I guess its logical that he is competent as he is certied for the job but I do not know if KCC insist this to be part of his statement.
Thanks
DS
July 30, 2021 at 19:50
1. No – that is clear from the article. Please read it.
2. No problem – it will be acceptable.
July 31, 2021 at 03:01
Hi brit,
In case if I submitted the supporting documents without asking for, and later when KCC started to send emails for requesting documents,
1. Will I also get email? or ignored as I have already submitted the documents ?
2. in case I receive email for submitting docs, and submitted 2nd time, will that cause problem as I have submitted repeatedly ?
August 2, 2021 at 04:16
1. I don’t know
2. No
July 31, 2021 at 04:34
Hello, Simon
2022AS0027xx
I’ve already submitted ds-260 more than a month but no response, so I decided to submitted the documents to KCC without being asked. But I have some question here
1. My passport is expired on FEB/2022. Is it eligible to send to KCC? It really hard to get a new passport at this time because COVID19 situation in my country. ( At first, I was thinking that I should send it and present the new passport on the interview day but I don’t know that will KCC be okay with it.)
2. Do I have to send a Fist name change Certificate to KCC? (I just think that my name on Birth Certificate and passport is not the same so….)
Thank you Sir
August 2, 2021 at 04:17
1. Send it, but get a new passport for the interview (showing old and new)
2. Use your judgement.
August 10, 2021 at 05:33
Thank you sir,
I already sent all the documents to KCC. However, I have another problem and I admitted that it was my mistakes.
I looked into my ds260 (for the nth times) and suddenly realize that I did not fill all my social media account and also one of my rarely use email account. I filled only 2 of my accounts, Facebook and linkedIn, but I forgot reddit, youtube etc.
Should I ask the KCC to unlock ds260 ? since I sent all the documents to the KCC.
Best regards,
Koy
August 14, 2021 at 00:05
No need to unlock for reddit and YT
July 31, 2021 at 07:52
Hayyyy dear Britsimon
We love you (we means me and all iranian from dv2022???)
We also have a question.
As you know there is no US embassy in Iran and iranian winners used to go to Turkey or Abu Dhabi or Armenia .
A few days ago US embassy in Turkey announced that they will no longer accept any people from other countries they are going to interview only resident of Turkey . This is a nightmare for the DV 2021winners who were waiting to go to thir interview in Ankara .
But in other hand there are many people from DV 2022 who select the Turkey for their interview . They ask if they should contact KCC and ask to change their embassy befor its iery late. Some of them think maybe the embassy is gonna change this for 2022.
Question is what do you think for DV2022 winner in this case. Should they ask to change the embassy now or be more patient to see what happens next.
August 2, 2021 at 04:19
Patience.
August 2, 2021 at 14:48
Thank you for your reply , would you advice to be patient even for people for very low case number?
For example there is a lady her case number is 2022as500
They selected Ankara for her interview but as I said the embassy in Ankara just announced that they will only interview the residents of Turkey and not anymore Iranian .
So as you see her case number is to low should she wait to see what happens or ask to change the location.
(This lady does not speak English thats why I ask on behalf of her)
Thank you again
August 4, 2021 at 04:25
Everyone needs patience. Things are not normal right now.
August 3, 2021 at 19:14
Dear Brit,
Thanks for giving us your time. My wife is the winner of DV2022 with case# AS0013xxx and I am the co-applicant we already submitted the DS-260 and waiting for a police clearance to submit the documents too but I have 1 question and its:
1. In the co-applicant form for the work experience part I put only from the 2015 onwards and did not write down the work experience before 2015 . So my question is should I request the KCC to open the form and write down that work experience too or the details of the co-applicant is not important?
Once again thank you very much for your preciouses time and advice.
Regards
Ahmad
August 4, 2021 at 05:04
Only the principal selectee matters.
August 4, 2021 at 10:26
So you advice me to not request the KCC to unlock the co-applicant form?.
One more thing that i forgot to mention is that the co-applicant which is me, is also eligible for Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) so there the work experience must be mentioned in the visa form which is before 2015.
1. So now if I don’t mention the co-applicants work experience in DS-260 will that raise a problem that why I have not mentioned the work experience in the DS-260 and did in SIV form. Will that be a problem or not?
Your kind advice is appreciated. Thanks once again for giving us your time.
Regards
Ahmad

August 3, 2021 at 20:45
Dear Britsimon .
A friend of mine who is dv2022 winner
When he applied he had other name but he changed his mame later then he understood he has been selected for dv2022, of course he has the both passport and in his new birth certificate which is with new name the explained that he had change his name. So everything is clear, he wrot the both name in ds260 as name and “if you had other name?”
Question is does he need to explain this also when he send his documents to KCC? Or trough other email ?
August 4, 2021 at 05:05
An explanation in the pdf might be useful.
August 4, 2021 at 17:21
Dear Sir;
Due to an issue with my keyboard, I wrote the name of my university in DS-260 “ALEANDRIA” instead of “ALEXANDRIA”. Is this my cause an issue and I need to open my DS to correct it?
August 5, 2021 at 13:44
No need to correct.
August 5, 2021 at 23:22
Hi Brit good day. I am a D.V 2022 winner 2022AF3K. On my DS260 in the section that talks about social media, I unintentionally forgot to mention my Instagram, Twitter, Youtube and Telegram.
1. Will they consider to be dishonesty??
2. I have a low case number and preparing to submit my documents, do I need to contact KCC to unlock my ds260 so that I can add those accounts??
Thanks
August 6, 2021 at 05:21
1. Possibly.
2. Yes
August 6, 2021 at 17:15
Hello Brit, greetings sir, am a D.V 2022 winner AF29k….I have a similar question about socail media. I forgot to add my Linkined account name on my ds260 cos I havent been using the account for quiet sometime.
Please will that be a problem and do I need to unlock my ds260 in order to add the account??
Thank you.
August 8, 2021 at 14:48
You have a long time to wait anyway, so you might as well correct that.
August 11, 2021 at 09:16
Dear Brit I am DV winner 2022 with Case# AS13xxx my co applicant did some mistake the following mistake in the DS-260 form and we need your advice:
1. In work experience part he mistakenly write 2010 but it should be 2011.
2. He did not mentioned any his work experience before 2011.
3. But he has also applied for the SIV (Special Immigrant VISA) and there he has written the correct date 2011 and also full details of his work which is from 2008.
So now, as the principle applicant should I unlock the DS-260 form and fix these two mistakes or not. Because I want to be in the safe side. Your kind advice is highly appreciated.
Your well wisher
Sara

No need to unlock.

Hello Simon,
2022EU00000xxx
The DS260 of my daughter was Completed On: (May 11th)
After that, she got married. (Aug 6th)
She sends an email to open DS260. (Jul 28th) No response till now.
Today, she added her husband in DS260, as a spouse, but she has an issue with confirming and signing the doc. So the DS260 for her husband can not be signed.
Sign button doesn’t work or is locked.
Can you help with answering the below questions:
Q1: whose passport number is to be signed by her husband, DS260? Her or his?
Q2: She got two emails from KCC to send the docs, but she cannot make any updates in DS260.
Can she send all docs to KCC anyway?
August 14, 2021 at 15:23
1. The person filling the form.
2. Yes
August 14, 2021 at 18:43
I appreciate your help.
Answer 1. I got it
Answer 2. Need more advice. I understand that she can send all the docs (her and her husband), but it’s better to wait for the opening of DS260? Or just send it anyway? I am asking as I got your answer in another post.
“Marital status and getting married during the DV lottery process.”
“…What should she do now?
…….
2. Wait for the opening of DS260, make corrections and then send them documents?
Thanks
Seb (daughter’s father :-))

JUse some judgement. The most important thing is getting the DS260s submitted. Work on that. Once submitted, send documents for both.
August 15, 2021 at 20:35
DS260 for son-in-law signed/completed. To sign it, needed to use a short Case number. Excluding zero’s.
The daughter’s DS260 is still unblocked.
Documents ready for sending.
August 15, 2021 at 20:37
The daughter’s DS260 is still not unlocked.
August 13, 2021 at 15:05
Hello Sir,
I had sent an email to the KCC to know if they received my case and where the treatment was and they answered me with:” Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.”could I have a chance to get an interview before the end of September? Case number: 2021 AF47XXX
August 14, 2021 at 16:06
No chance. The only remaining chance is if the lawsuits achieve more time.
August 14, 2021 at 04:31
Hi Brit,
I’ve understood, only “Full Case Number” should be entered in “Email Subject”
however, is there anything to be mentioned in email BODY, ( such as full name, DOB, full Case No etc)?
August 14, 2021 at 17:19
No.
