DV-2020 details will be officially published tomorrow. As has happened before, some embassies have “jumped the gun” and announced it early, and the unpublished notice is available through the federal register. So the details below are accurate and will be made official tomorrow (in the USA – so could be Wednesday in other parts of the world).
The registration period will open on October 3, and close on November 6. There are NO CHANGES to eligible countries from last year. The result checking period will start on May 7 next year.
I will publish some tips for entering over the next week – but for goodness sake ONLY enter through the official page and DO NOT let anyone enter your details for you!

I have closed the DS260 and have asked for an opening again to add some information. The amendments I have made will be in the Kentucky Center compared to the previous information that was modified

It is too early to know for sure. In a few weeks and months we will know more, but this is a LONG process – so no need to know everything today. Please look at the lottery guide linked above, read the FAQ, and hold off submitting your DS260 for now until you understand more.

Scared?? Nothing to be scared about. It’s a lottery. You can’t win unless you try, but many who try don’t win. That’s the nature of a lottery.

Hi Brit,I am a Togolese by parents and I was born in Nigeria. I filled that last year lottery that I was born in Nigeria and claimed Togo as the country I want to use her passport, hope there would not be problem.
Secondly, I finished secondary school with complete results, I supposed to fill college with degree, but I made an error filled with college with no degree, hope if I won won’t I have difficulty at the point of interview.
Kindly advice me on what to do sir. Thanks for your usual help always giving out to public

Well first of all you are unlikely to be selected. It’s a lottery with a once in 200 year chance of winning. If you win, we can discuss your other questions.

Hello Britsimon am a 2019 dv lottery winner my wife is the principal Applicant ,unfortunately we had a computer error the computer submitted her names as Mary momanyi momanyi instead of Mary Moraa Momanyi so the father’s name was repeated twice , will this lead to visa refusal? Though in the DS 260 form we submitted the correct names that is Mary Moraa momanyi. What is your advice ?
November 24, 2018 at 14:57
This would normally not lead to error, but it would be wise to stop calling this a computer error, since that is not what happened. It was how the name was entered.
