Hi Brit, I have won for a second time – the first one was in DV2020 and we didn’t manage to go because of Covid and all the mess it created. Now, my number is EU40XX – I will submit my DS260 hopefully within days (depending if the system will continue to crash). Do you think we have a chance to be interviewed in Nov, for example? I am from Bulgaria. Thank you for all the effort and advices!
Wow, I am happy that you got a second chance and a great low case number. Yes your number will become current very early – possibly in October. However, your DS260 might not get processed in time, as many others will have already submitted theirs.
hello Brit
First time I selected for DV. My case number 2026AF34460 and I am from Morocco, so any chance still get interview? I know it is hard to predict but you may be able to make comment based on your previous experience.
Thanks
Hasna
Hi Simon, every time I attempt to fill in my previous work history to the DS260 form, the website crashes and I cannot re-access the form for quite a few hours. Is this happening to others in the oceanic region?
I have compared your 2026 poll results with 2025 one. It is still early but as of the moment do you also think these last 2 years selectee data is similar like the highest CNs available or the selectee count by estimation based on your polls?
Thank you! Can I fill out a DS260 if I am in the US on an F1 and return to my country of birth exclusively for the interview, or is it mandatory to do an AOS? Do you know which one is typically quicker? Also, if I fill out my form and I have just started my CPT (internship for only 3 months), in occupation, should I put the field of the internship or student? Thank you very much for your time.
Hello! Thank u for ur response. Since we don’t know much yet about when numbers will be current, and if the will follow the trend of 2024.. I was wonder if it is possible to fill the DS260 for CP And in case that my number become current early in the year change to and AOS later on. Would you recommend that or it has risks? Also I hold an f1 that expires in mid-may. But then I have my OPT, and if I don’t find a job I have 90 days to stay, till mid August ( the time you can be unemployed with OPT). Filling my DS260 now, will prevent me for been granted de OPT? Also that time of OPT will maintain my status to fill AOS?
I need your advice regarding the DS-260 form for the Diversity Visa Lottery. In my winning letter, my name was written incorrectly: the first name was listed as “Abdelelaziz” (with “EL” repeated) instead of the correct “Abdelaziz,” and the surname was listed as “Abdelrahman” (missing an “A”) instead of the correct “Abdelarahman.” My full name on my passport and birth certificate is Ahmed Mohammed Abdelaziz Abdelarahman.
On the DS-260 form, there’s a question: “Have you ever used other names (i.e., maiden, religious, professional, alias, etc.)?” I’ve received conflicting advice about whether I should include the incorrect names from the winning letter (Abdelelaziz Abdelrahman) in this section or leave it blank. Some say this section is only for legal names (like maiden names or legal aliases), while others suggest including any names that appear on official documents, even if they’re mistakes.
My questions:
Should I list the incorrect names (Abdelelaziz Abdelrahman) in the “other names” section to avoid any confusion during the interview?
Or should I leave the section blank and explain the error during the interview if asked?
Has anyone faced a similar issue with errors in the names on their winning letter? How did you handle it?
Your DS260 should have the correct legal name (corrected from the mistake you made in the DV entry), and then use the other names used section if needed for other versions of the name.
Hi!
How long do you think it will be before we will have a better idea of the number and gap spread for the 2026 year. We’re in Australia and have a number towards the end of the range. (very sad face) It’s depressing because it’s June for 2025 and they are not going up beyond 1550 and we are in the early 3000’s. So I’m guessing our chances are minute.
Hi BritSimon,my family have been selected with a case no 2026eu00007xxxand i have filled the ds260 within 10 days of the results, whats my chance and when will my no become current,i have a family member that turns 21 around January 2026.thanks for your vids
We don’t know the selectee numbers yet, so it is really too soon. The video above explains when we will know more – but yes, as a gut reaction your number is probably risky.
Hello Simon!
I am DV2026 winner from EU (Case Number 27XXX) and I have a question about DS-260 form.
I want to move to the USA with my girlfriend, but first we need to get married. Based on the experiences so far, how much time do we have to fill out the DS-260 form without reducing our chances of getting to the interview? I know it’s worth getting it in as soon as possible, but in this case it doesn’t go that fast.
Thank’s for your answer and help!

Greetings sir, I checked my result this gone May 03, 2025 and I was randomly selected but my case number is 72881 for Africa. I want to know my chances of becoming current, can you help me?
Hi Simon
My case Number is 2026AS12XXX from Nepal. what are my chances to get 2NL?
And i heard that there is travel ban on some of the countries like Iran,Afghan etc , Does it will impact DV case number for Asia ?
Hello Brit Simon, how are you. I am one of DV Lottery 2026 winners. I have a question. My case number is 2026EU7XXX, and because of the recent 2 years performance in Ankara, I transferred my docs to Hong Kong. Ankara gave only up to 5-6k case numbers. By the way KCC approved my document transfer to Hong Kong.
The question is, I am an architect and traveled to Kurdistan region of Iraq to construction site visits, and make some business meetings for almost ,1,5 month. As I was continue working in Istanbul legally, our company take a tourist visa to Iraq for me. After 1 month I entered and back to Duhok again to extend my visa for additional 1 month. The total time I stayed there is 48 days.
I did not travel any other countries and I am totally clean. Is my travel background to Kurd region of Iraq (Duhok and Erbil cities) a really bad thing to receive Greencard visa approval? My school has NAAB accredited, our architecture curriculum is valid in America, so my diploma is valid I can work in America as an architect. Can you help me please. I don’t know what to do.
I’m from Spain and have been selected for the DV2026 lottery with case number 2026EU1XXX. I plan to submit the DS-260 forms for myself, my wife, and our two daughters between late June and mid-July 2025.
Our interview will take place at the Madrid embassy.
Given my low case number and the estimated DS-260 submission timeline, do you think it’s reasonable to expect our interview to be scheduled by December 2025?
If you want an early interview, you should submit the DS260 now, or certainly very soon. If you wait, there is a chance your DS260 will take a while to process because of backlogs at KCC. That will then cause delay in scheduling your case.
Thank you for making all of these stats! I have won the lottery this year but I had no idea what were the next steps and your posts are very helpful!
Are you already already able to comment your bets on EU25k cases?
I’ve lived in 8 different countries across the world and I’m thinking whether I should request my criminal records or not. If I have a good chance for an interview then I’m also wondering when it’s a good time to request them so I am certian they would arrive before the interview . For example, one country said it takes up to two!! months for them to check the records🫨. Any guidance on this would be very helpful 🙏
Your number isn’t bad, but you won’t interview for a year from now – so there is plenty of time to apply for police certs nearer the time and by that time you will understand the process better. For now, relax.
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your videos! They really help put things into perspective.
Would you kindly forward a message to xarthisius? In the 2026 poll, can he make the bins (range of the bar along the x axis) have steps of 1000 in the case number? Otherwise it is hard to gauge the largest reported number (for Europe, it lies between 45xxx and 49xxx). This is high compared to DV2025 and DV2023.
Thank you and xarthisius for everything you are doing! Appreciate it!
I will pass it along, but we should not expect exact precision from the survey (since we are trusting responses), so the 5k bins are probably good enough to get an approximation.
Thanks! That would make it easier to narrow down the highest recorded case number. Of course, by taking an educated guess about potential outliers.
I forgot to mention that I am a winner, 2026EU00032XXX. Based on current estimates for the highest case number (45k to 48k), my normalized case number is between 0.68 to 0.73 – in the lower end of the ‘danger’ zone. According to my estimates, since 2019 the cutoff for Europe has been between 0.73 and 0.93 excluding 2020 and 2021. Of course, this is based on a very rudimentary calculation.
Are you German by any chance? I’ll wager $5 on that.
I did get a response from Xarth – the page is already dynamic meaning the bucket sizes will change with more entries.
The problem (which you probably recognize) with the calculation you are making is that it does not account for the ACTUAL position of your number. There are holes throughout the number ranges, and there are “density” decreases caused by limited countries. So a case number that is exactly halfway through the case numbers would NOT be halfway through the cases. There are more holes in later ranges. Your logic also does not account for how many overselected there are in the year. They might be 10% overselected, or 50% overselected. We won’t know until we see the selectee numbers.
But if my hunch is right, you can’t stop yourself thinking about the numbers anyway. 🙂
You owe me $5 😀
I am not German, but anybody would be forgiven for thinking that on the account that I have been living in Germany for the past 12 years.
Although it’s a very basic calculation with all of the factors you’ve mentioned not taken into account, it gives me some comfort that I am not out of the race yet.
Hey Brit Simon… as a new DV2026 winner we are AF22XXX… Did I hear you say that in the current visibility under 30000 in Africa is a very low number and therefore quick completion of the DS260 is recommended?
We have a visit to the USA soon (planned and booked prior to DV selection) – Will our B1B2 visa’s still be in good standing and therefore travel is allowed?
Not generally. It was accurate when submitted. If you have other reason to unlock and correct something, then you would check and update other parts of the form too.
This DV is like a lottery within a lottery.Imagine you are a selectee, your number is current yet your assigned embassy is lagging. You have to enter another lottery to get 2nd….

You can do either method – there are pros and cons to both, but there is time to make that decision. You can study the link below.

Not generally. It was accurate when submitted. If you have other reason to unlock and correct something, then you would check and update other parts of the form too.
