There is a realistic chance that fees to enter and process the DV lottery cases could be increased massively under the latest exercise in stupidity bought to us by Trump and the Republicans. They plan huge fees for all sorts of immigration, with the obvious intention to reduce immigration. DV Lottery is part of the targets for new fees from a $250 fee to enter the lottery and an additional $400 to process the lottery if selected.
This cruel bill passed the house, and now will go to the senate for their vote. If passed there it will become law. Watch my video below for my take.
Follow this link for the text of the bill and to see progress.

DV lottery dreamers worst nightmare, OBBB passed by narrow margin 51 – 50. I think DV lottery is temporary over untill next administration. This bill is insane. I’m from Sri Lanka. I can’t even comprehend thinking pay for 250$ to enter DV lottery. 250$ is a massive chunks of money in rupees.
But sad thing to say some of people in Sri Lanka, especially already immigrated to US, they justifying this bill and hardcore into trump cult and they also told it’s good for prevent abuse lottery. They already know the truth which is 250$ and go on price unaffordable to many Sri Lankan people. But theirs hypocrisy DV lottery applicants like me get very disappointed. Also they think this incident gives more chance to win DV lottery even though is hefty price, but nature DV lottery is random and who knows. Overall, this bill is insane not only DV dreamers, but also US average citizens. Also, I sincerely request from you to make a commentary video about that disastrous bill to inform more others.

The fees for DV (250 and 400) were removed from the bill. That won’t happen now.
July 4, 2025 at 09:17
Wow. That’s great thing to hear. Thank you Mr. Simon for updates.
July 3, 2025 at 03:29
Hello Britsimon, the senate approved the bill now so are we going to pay the registration fee of $250 as well as $400 for ds260
Thanks
July 3, 2025 at 09:07
No, because those measures were removed from the bill.
June 3, 2025 at 12:42
Thank you so so much @ Britsimon for your responses and insights about the Nairobi US embassy. The embassy just decided to misbehave and mess up people’s chances then keep lying to them about a fake ‘’on hold awaiting email communique from KCC’’… This is even as they are saying that the IR backlog is over and that they have good capacity currently…very very shameful of an embassy of such repute in the region. Once again most appreciated and blessings galore…
May 28, 2025 at 00:30
Hellow @ Britsimon…WOULD KCC INSTRUCT AN EMBASSY ON WHETHER TO SCHEDULE INTERVIEWS OR NOT?
May 28, 2025 at 09:06
The embassy decides its capacity. KcC just arranges interviews to fill that capacity.
May 28, 2025 at 22:54
The phone call responses from the embassy have now changed from ‘’ keep checking your emails, we will communicate soon with 2nls’’ to this time ‘’ Dv 25 interviews are on hold awaiting email communication from KCC’’
Real bullshit..

Nairobi embassy
May 29, 2025 at 17:49
Oh man. That’s BS.
May 30, 2025 at 00:24
Goodmorning @Britsimon from Nairobi. Now, the latest unverified info about the DV program here is that Nairobi set capacity last month but instead of KCC scheduling DV cases , they scheduled IR cases and put DV on hold untill further notice. Does this mean KCC can actually dictate how an embassy performs?
May 30, 2025 at 13:19
No. That is completely fictitious. KCC don’t schedule IR cases.
June 2, 2025 at 06:23
I mean KCC seems to have been held back from sending 2NLs by some authority when embassy sends capacity. Is that a possibility for Nairobi?
June 2, 2025 at 12:02
That is not what is happening – no.
June 3, 2025 at 05:35
Goodday from Nairobi @ Britsimon.. The Nairobi embassy is insisting even as we speak that they are still waiting for instructions from Kentucky to resume the DV interviews. What does this mean with all honesty coz we are at a loss as to what’s happening. Has this ever been experienced in the past ? Where an embassy is singled out by unknown forces beyond itself ?
June 3, 2025 at 06:44
Could there have been a lawsuit against DHS due to IR delays and inturn DHS through KCC instructed Nairobi embassy to with hold DV processing? I am just thinking wide.

Hi brit simon hope you doing well i am from Algeria dv 2026
Case number af61k
I submitted my ds 260 4 th may and opened 2 times 6 th and 8 th may
But lately i came to realization i didn’t mention host name and put does not apply in address instead is that detail worth opening ds 260 for
Also my passport validity ends in july 2026 should i throw my passport and say i lost and reopen ds 260 and fill with new one
May 27, 2025 at 23:38
No need to unlock for that.
Renew your passport next year near to the expiry date.
May 28, 2025 at 10:24
And bring copy of old passport to interview to explain right?
May 28, 2025 at 16:35
Yes
May 26, 2025 at 17:15
Hi Simon.. please I have a question, My passport has section (ban ) for 5 yrs from south Africa though i went there to do some business..this year my ban is complete accord to years given though I have yet apply for uplifting to south Africa home affairs..will this affect my D260 or cause USA counselor to denie me visa?
Or do I need to make new passport with new number but having my details on it?
Or or I should just renew the same passport and go with it without any stamps ?
May 26, 2025 at 17:28
I don’t know how that ban would appear (if at all) on the police report. So I don’t have good answers to give.
May 26, 2025 at 17:05
It’s over for most Africans
May 26, 2025 at 11:40
I support the Bill because that will automatically eliminate scammers, and also filtered out people who take it as a joke and left with only passionate American Dreamers.
I’m from a poor African Nation (Sierra Leone). here majority of the jobs here only pays $50 per month my job is not an exception and which requires at least 10hrs of work per day. so it takes like 6 months to get $250, I mean half a year to get that sum. so 90% of annual entrants here won’t dare to enter if the Bill is passed and signed. It be like spending a six months salary on a lottery with no guarantee of winning is a higher risk here that will only be taken by passionate American Dreamers and this implies to the majority of other African Countries.
However, the bill will only favor wealthier people or countries in some continents. But as for Africa, 90% of annual applicants won’t take the risk to pay $250 to enter, meaning those who will enter will also have 90% chance of being selected, so the odds of winning will be great for risk takers then, and I want to be one of them. IN THE END, NO RISK, NO REWARD. GOD BLESS USA🇺🇲🇺🇲
May 26, 2025 at 13:10
I support what you say ma, 100 per cent
May 26, 2025 at 15:28
I understand your point of view, but the list of fees doesn’t stop there.
After this bill there would be an additional $400 per person to complete the DS260.
Then each person will have a medical – assume that to be at least $100 (it is $500+ in the UK).
Then $330 for the existing interview fee (per person).
And if approved $235 about the time you enter (per person).
So – that is $1065 per person, or say $5325 for a family of 5, then flights and so on….
July 3, 2025 at 21:47
This bill doesn’t make sense, it only restricts people who dream of entering America. This isn’t the way to stop unwanted scammers, this bill was created only for one reason shut down immigration.
The immigration ban is a complicated thing. That’s why they add huge fees instead of a direct ban because it’s a loophole.
Add a valid passport number is the only way to stop scammers in fair way. Not adding burden fees.
May 23, 2025 at 22:18
For obvious reason, high case numbers in future should definitely avoid filing DS260 given that the policy comes into effect. I can’t imagine how borderline case numbers that are sitting on the fence might feel about this.
May 23, 2025 at 07:53
If paying entry fées after submitting will result automaticly selection that won’t ve problem. But risking 250$ for draw make no sense.
Africa and more poor people in AS, SA it’s over.
May 23, 2025 at 09:41
Yup.
May 23, 2025 at 12:18
1-At least will they ask to provide during entry certificate marriage if any and diploma?
2- these changes also apply on F1, F2, F3 and F4 visas?
May 23, 2025 at 15:12
1. There is no discussion of that – this is simply about financial matters.
2. You could check the bill – link above.
May 23, 2025 at 03:44
You pau $250 and not sure if you will be sellected….In addition even if you get selected, still your Embasy will lag behind, you become current again your $400 goes without receiving 2NL….
May 23, 2025 at 15:05
Yep – not realistic for many people.
May 23, 2025 at 02:03
Hi Brit. Hope you doing great. Do you think a passport will be required to apply for Dv lottery as they did a few years ago?
May 23, 2025 at 15:08
Not for DV2027 – beyond that – I can’t see the future.
