Hi Simon! Thank you for all that you are doing. Really. You’re not only an amazing source of knowledge, I personally also love your humor!
I finally have my interview scheduled (2021EU16k), and have a question regarding one of the documents to bring to the interview. Do I still need to bring my high school documents if I have a bachelors degree from a US university? I got my degree in California in December 2017 and have the original diploma.
My interview is in Mexico in beginning of September as I have temporary residence here, and I am afraid I won’t be able to get my original high school documents here before my interview.
I am a working professional and guess I can show additional min 2 years of qualifying work experience if you think that helps?
August 20, 2021 at 04:49
Get your education document if possible. Technically the degree should cover it, but some COs still ask for proof of a course of formal secondary education.
August 25, 2021 at 09:05
Hi Simon, can case numbers be identical in multiple continents ?
like if we say their is a case number in Asia for example (2022AS0000211) does that mean their is a possibility or a capability of the number being issued for other continents ( 2022Af0000211 / 2022EU0000211 / 2022OC0000211 etc..) ??

Hi Brit. Came across a question on one of the forums. Need your expertise please. Our childs passport was made when she was a baby almost 1 year. It expires in 2023. Will this be an issue for us considering she obviously is grown and looks different?

Hello, I am from Albania. I am the winner of dv2022 with case number 11 **. Please , what is happening to us because i have not received any notification? Thank you if you would answer me !
September 9, 2021 at 03:36
Have you sent documents? When?
September 9, 2021 at 06:54
I only filled out ds 260 on June 14, but I am hesitant to send the documents without the email. because the lawyer suggests me to wait for the email.
September 9, 2021 at 14:15
So if you listen to the lawyer who knows nothing about this process you will continue to wait.
Send your documents.
December 13, 2021 at 00:00
Please I’m in the same situation. I am the winner of dv2022 for Europe, with case number 1***. I also didn’t send the documents because my lawyer thought that we should wait for the email. The email hasn’t come yet, but I sent the documents this month (December), do you think that might be a problem?
Thank you,
December 17, 2021 at 06:08
Documents are no longer required. t
Your lawyer does not understand the DV process.

Hello Brit, I am DV2022 selectee from Afghanistan, already sent DS-260 and waiting for further process but due to recently changes in the situation of Afghanistan (the fall of the government to the hand of Taliban), the USA closed it’s embassy from Afghanistan, now I don’t know whether my case will be proceed or no, if yes how ? because here is not an office for scheduling interview or issuing visa in Afghanistan. I will be glad if you help me
Thanks
September 17, 2021 at 04:45
It will be some time before things are more clear. Be patient.
November 20, 2021 at 04:31
Hello Brit, Still I have not receive any update from you regarding my pervious request and concern.
September 15, 2021 at 13:56
Hi Simon,
I got My Acquaintance who are DV Lottery winners told me that they were asked to provide Affidavit of Support, and I have read few articles that DV lottery winners don’t require providing Affidavit of Support. So, I was wondering if I will be asked to provide one.
Thanks,

Greetings Brit,
DV2022EU12XXX here. I submitted my DS when I was single but got married in June. I sent unlock request in August, still no reply but I managed to add my husband as applicant. Received request for documents from KCC in September. The problem is my DS (principal applicant) is still locked and I haven’t managed to adjust my marital status, passport number (also changed) and my new surname. Should I send the documents now for both of us or wait for DS to get unlocked?
You already helped me once; thank you so much for your time.
Best regards
September 17, 2021 at 05:16
Wait for the Ds260 to be unlocked. Then send. You have time to wait anyway.
September 20, 2021 at 21:36
Hi Brit,
I am a DV Selectee 2022OC00000803. I am currently in the USA on an E-3 Visa and my I-94 expires Dec 15 2021. I am worried if I try to apply for AOS and my visa expires before my case is current then this will be an issue? Can i fill out the DS-260 while in the USA but request an Interview in Sydney and travel home once the interview is scheduled? Covid is also contributing to long processing times at the US consulate in Sydney so I fear it could be up to 6 months before an interview is scheduled!
September 21, 2021 at 00:10
You can’t file AOS until your number is shown in the VB. That is likely to be possible before Dec 15, but you would be “stuck” while waiting for processing. You can complete the DS260 for Consular processing, but right now Sydney is closed due to local lockdowns.
September 21, 2021 at 07:45
Dear Mr Simon,
Kindly Please advice,
I won the DV 2022. My first application was filled by indicating single in October 2020 as I was single at that time.
But just recently I got married to a man who has a divorce and has two children from his first marriage. the children of my husband live with their mother.
We live only with my husband without children
Do I have to include the children of my husband to my principal DS-260 application even though they are not living with us?
But on my husband’s DS-260 application we have to indicate we know this.
Kindly advice please
September 22, 2021 at 13:15
Yes you should both list the children on your own DS260s but not create a DS260 for the children themselves.
September 21, 2021 at 17:55
My actual date of completion of school differs from the date on my graduation certificate but I unfortunately used the actual date of completion in the DS 260 form instead of the one on the certificate. Can this affect my case in any or the interview scheduling?
September 22, 2021 at 13:23
Probably not.
September 22, 2021 at 13:53
Hi Mr Simon, Hope all is well. I summited my DS 260 form one month ago, but I didn’t receive any email from KCC, Should I be worried? What should I do? Thank you
September 22, 2021 at 13:56
Send your documents.
September 29, 2021 at 17:09
Hi Brit. My son was successful in DV2021 and 2022. currently we reside in USA. We unfortunately got bad advise for the 2021 as the KCC thought we were doing AOS and we thought we were waiting on KCC for consular processing and was notified by KCC too late to do anything. So are now starting again with acting on the 2022 selection. Can you please confirm ,as I can’t find a clear answer, if he is lodging 1-485 does he also need to submit a DS-260. Can you also confirm that with his case number DV2022OCxxxxx736 that we can’t send the AOS until visa bulletin shows above this number? Thanks for any direction you can provide.
September 30, 2021 at 18:55
The link below is all you need for DV related AOS. Filing the DS260 for AOS is optional, but I do believe it helps the process later.

Hi Sir,
We are the winner of DV22 with case No#AF12**K. and I have submitted the DS260 on 19 June. And didn’t send the documents. Now the condition has been changed in AFG on 15 Aug, embassy is closed, and they left Afghanistan. So need your suggestion. What should i do shall i send email to KCC for guide or wait for an email from KCC. Please need your suggestion and I really appreciate to help me in this regard?
October 8, 2021 at 02:54
Send your documents then remain patient while the government works out how to handle Afghan cases.
October 12, 2021 at 02:00
Hi Brit
I have a question about DS-260 Form. there is a section which asks about previous travel to us. On October 2019, me and my brother entered the US border from Canada.
The reason for my trip was to accompany my brother who at that time had his student visa and by Canadian law had to exit and return to that country to get his internship document. At the port of entry, I had my Canadian Passport with me and my brother had his Iranian passport including a Canadian student visa.
We were guided by a US immigration officer for the paperwork and security check in the immigration office which took us around 1h30 to be done before we returned to Canada.
Recently I have submitted the DS-260 form and there is a section that requires:
1. if I have ever traveled to the US
2. if I have ever been refused admission to the United States or Withdrawn my Application at the port of entry.
I answered YES to the first question and NO to the second one
Actually, I would like to know if my answers were correct or not.
I thank you in advance for taking your time to read and answer my question.
October 16, 2021 at 03:29
Correct
October 14, 2021 at 00:24
Hi Simon, I received my confirmation that I had been successful for the DV 2022 lottery in May and began taking the next steps, filling out the DS-260 and sending it off in June about a month later. I’m now worried that I have submitted the DS-260 too early, and was instead supposed to wait until the Visa Bulletin showed there was a visa available for my number before completing and submitting the DS-260. Was it okay to have sent it in June? Some of the information I’m reading online conflicts. Really appreciate your commitment to this blog, sending a cash tip now 🙂
October 16, 2021 at 03:45
You did not send it in too early. Relax!
October 15, 2021 at 23:24
Hi Brit, just like everyone else following you, I’m incredibly grateful for the time and efforts you put in.
Very generous of you to share and spread your knowledge.
Regrading this presentation, though – its not very obvious that you’re suppose to click not only arrows, but also click one more time for the text and scheme to appear. Plus, slide #5 for example disappears – you can’t read slides 5-8. Slide 9 was fine, but then starting slide 10 the text wouldn’t appear. I just gave up. Thought just let you know in case you decide to look into it.
October 16, 2021 at 04:22
Yep – I need to work on it. Thanks

Hi brit,
I just realized that i left out a 0 in my case number when sending my documents yesterday.
I wrote 2022AF0025287 INSTEAD OF 2022AF00025287.
SHOULD I RESENT THE DOCUMENTS?

Hello brit,
If someone hold or have other nationality that’s mean he have two passports and by default two passport number he has
Could he submit two application for EDV entry by the both passports on this period DV2023?
October 22, 2021 at 02:49
No – DV eligibility is based on country of birth, so unless you were born twice you can only have one country of birth. ONe entry!
October 26, 2021 at 03:46
Hi BritSimon. I just discovered your blog and watched your video. Greatly done.
I’m living in US with a E2 visa (Non-immigrant Treaty Investor through employer), been working here for 6.5 years. I got a kid here in US who is 3 years old.
I do have a few question :
– I used to be married long ago in Switzerland. Got divorced. This case is long gone behind me. I put on my E2 application a marital status as Divorced. I think I have to put divorced as well for the lottery entry. In this case of a divorce, do I need to add my ex-spouse information and picture ?
– my son is 3 years old and is a US citizen, born in USA. Do I need to add him to the application entry for the lottery ? If not, does it change anything adding him. I do not live anymore with his mother, we never got married nor we entered the common law marriage.
– my passport expiration date is August 1st 2022. It’s more than 6 month from now. Can I enter with this passport ? (I do have a new one waiting for me at the consulate of my country, but I need to ship my actual passport and receive that new one)
Thank you in advance. It is time for me to start playing this lottery.
October 28, 2021 at 16:05
1. No
2. You don’t have to add him, but won’t be punished if you do.
3. Yes
October 31, 2021 at 06:37
Hi Good Day Simon,
I didnt send the document yet, but i prepare them to be translated. My concern was my country did not oblige to do military and my police and prison record were clear. So it’s mean i did not have to send them right?
Thankyou

November 9, 2021 at 16:47
hi
I wish you can help me
In my DS260 , I wrote date of marriage as the date of registration in the civil office (29) but the marriage at the church (28).
difference one day.
In the marriage doc. both dates are mentioned as below :
under marriage data section ; date of doc as 28 (the church date)
date of civil registration as 29 (which i wrote in ds)
Should I unlock my ds260 and change date of marriage to be the church date ?
Thanks!

Hey Brit,
AF29K here, Submitted ds-260 on May 15th. I got document request Sep, 20th and sent the docs immediately. Do they send a notice for DQ? I haven’t heard from them yet. Also a friend of mine also submitted his ds-260 in May but still hasn’t received document request email, his case is AF8XX, what is going on?
November 21, 2021 at 18:19
They are delayed. They stopped DV2022 work for over 3 months. Your case number is not low – so why are you worried?
December 10, 2021 at 03:53
Our local embassy has been closed for over a month due to conflict already. And now with the new document procedures, does this mean there is no shot? Should we try to change the interview location to a neighboring country now? My CN is AF29XXX and I had document request sent to me, my friend’s case is AF8XX and he hasn’t received a document request still.
December 10, 2021 at 06:55
Forget DRs. Yes you have a problem if your embassy is closed, but you are not current yet – so maybe things can change. If not you will need to ask KCC to move your case elsewhere.
November 9, 2021 at 21:52
Do I have to translate all doc. in English ?
Note : all doc. are in Arabic and interview will be in Egypt where Arabic is the official language.
November 13, 2021 at 16:43
No
November 26, 2021 at 10:53
Hello I’m DV 2022 winner. I got my DR already and send them on 28 the of October. When should my documents DQ’d approximately. And will my previous travel history in Europe affect my case ? ( In travel history I mean, I have stayed more than 3 months in Europe as Asylum seeker, but after i returned in my homeland with no excess. I was not deported, i returned i accordance with government and they bought me ticket)
November 26, 2021 at 20:27
I cannot predict when you will be DQ.
Your history should not be a problem.
December 4, 2021 at 08:31
Hi Simon, if my CN 6k current in December 2021 and have not recieved any DR, DQ, 2nl…is it worrying state.
December 4, 2021 at 23:29
Not really, no.
December 6, 2021 at 08:34
Alright.
Just an inquiry from your experience. Suppose a a higher CN say 2022AF16k submitted DS-260 earlier say May 2021 and lower CN say 2022AF4500 submitted later say Oct 2021. Of the 2 who will receive the 2nl first and scheduled for interviews. Thanks
December 6, 2021 at 16:39
Most likely, the 16K case.
December 9, 2021 at 15:08
Hi Brit, what do you think of the new change of KCC allowing only Ds-260 forms and documents to be presented at consular centre. Also how are interviews going to be scheduled, as per CN or date of submission of DS-260. Thanks

Hi,
I am a DV Selectee 2022OCxxx803 (looking at the visa bulletin I believe my number should come up in Feb or March of 2022) having read your FAQ I have not submitted my DS-260 yet as my number is fairly high and it could affect future applications for a work visa. My concern is that they seem to be backed up with processing this year. When would you recommend the latest date to submit DS-260 would be for DV2022? Thanks
December 10, 2021 at 06:02
Your number (800 range) is not high. You should submit the DS260 now. Just today they have taken action to speed up scheduling.
December 8, 2021 at 07:14
Hi Brit,
A US citizen daughter in the US applied a reunion visa for her mother who is a Yemeni resident in UAE. The mother had her visa issued in the beginning of October 2021 and will last up to March 2022. The question is, once the mother gets her permanent residence card in the US, she would like to leave the US and return back to the United Arab Emirates because she has another daughter that is at high school (17 years old). Can later she enter the US again at a later time? what is the situation in this case if she has obtained the US permanent residence card? Will she need another visa to enter?
December 10, 2021 at 06:14
Read the FAQ about absences from the USA as an LPR.

Dear Mr. Brit,
I am a DV 2022 winner from AS region with CN AS20***. I submitted my DS 260 on 13th September 2021. The address which I put under the address to mail the Green Card, has now changed.
Can I unlock my DS 260 now and change the address? Further, can unlocking cause delay in processing visas ?
Kindly request your good advice on this regard.
December 22, 2021 at 05:14
You may as well update since it will be months before you are current. No delay for that.
December 21, 2021 at 22:09
Hi Brit
What if I mistakenly entered Master instead of Bachelor in my eDV form , could I resolve this mistake in my DS260 and to be accepted during the interview?

It won’t even be discussed.
December 27, 2021 at 20:35
Hello Simon. I was selected for the DV2022, and my case number is around 45k, africa. I’m currently in the US with F1 visa. I filled DS260 before coming to US. I don’t know what my next step should be. I asked KCC to open my DS260 so that I can update interview location and contact information.
Can you please tell me what I should do. Thanks very much.
December 27, 2021 at 21:26
First you need to decide which method you will use to process your case. Adjust status (AOS) from F1 to GC while in the USA OR go back to your home country to process via consular processing. They are two distinct choices.
AOS is nicely described here:
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2022-aos-adjustment-of-status-only.344334/
December 28, 2021 at 05:07
ok, I have decided to go with AOS. but I want to know if I can still make it. will I be able to complete the process in time?, and will the DS260 I sent affect the AOS process? Thanks.

Dear Simon,
I am a DV2022 winner from Asia Region. My Case No 2022AS0000XXXX. Submitted DS 260 on 18th July 2021. Nothing heard from KCC on document submission. Can I upload my documents without request from KCC? Please advice me.
January 3, 2022 at 03:09
You do NOT have to send documents anymore, they changed the procedure. Read my recent articles.
January 12, 2022 at 19:49
Hi Brit
I humbly greet you, iam Dv2022 winner case No. 2022AF436**, and I submitted my Ds260 on 14th May and was requested Docs on 17th Sept, I got my DQ on 23rd Nov. My Qns is
1. I have hope that my case can become current for May. But do you think that I’ll have a chance to be prioritized among other cases due to DQ date to be scheduled for interview first
2. With the DV 2020 issues. Do you think Dv2022 cases will still be scheduled after April
3. I know you don’t predict Mr. Simon, but please according to your knowledge. Do you think I can receive interview For May in case my case becomes current in this March VB.
Thank you for your help
January 13, 2022 at 17:06
1. 2 and 3. I don’t know.
January 17, 2022 at 09:28
Hi Brit,
Something unusual happened to me (maybe it isn’t, but I’m little confused).
My case number is current in february. I received an e-mail to register an appointment for an interview (in Skopje) next month, but I still didn’t received a 2nl. Is this usual, firstly to register for an appointment and later to receive a 2nl? (When I check my status it says “ready”).
Thank you in advance.
Greetings.
January 18, 2022 at 15:56
It means you missed the 2NL email somehow. Perhaps spam filter. Your ESC page may show the date/time, if not contact the embassy.
January 19, 2022 at 10:17
I just called the embassy and they told me to come for the interview. I just needed to register my appointment (I did it already) and that’s it. I will not receive anything (2nl precisely).
Meanwhile I read on forums and I realized that I am not the only one. Maybe kcc’s policy is changed, who knows.
Greetings and thank you for everything, your videos and articles helped me a lot.
January 20, 2022 at 19:41
Cool. The policy hasn’t changed. It’s just a screwup.
February 16, 2022 at 16:31
Simons I was for the Fiscal Year 2022 with a case number AF22XXX and filled and submitted my D-260 on 16th September, 2021.
Is it prudent to send all my documents to KCC or due to the Pandemic there is a general delay in the process?
February 17, 2022 at 13:21
They do not require the documents to be sent to KCC now.
June 10, 2022 at 09:43
Hi Simon, I am a 2022 dv winner. Can a retired person in USA sponsor for me. Kindly reply
June 10, 2022 at 22:13
If their income is sufficient, then possibly, yes.
February 17, 2022 at 12:17
Hi Brit,
I was selected for green card lottery for 2022 EU 24*** while in the US. I had to make changes on my DS260 last year and I was not able to save the changes, but I also got married to an US citizen. Now, my number is current and I’m not sure if I should apply for an adjustment of status based on marriage or diversity. What do you think?
February 17, 2022 at 14:00
I can’t decide for you.
November 10, 2022 at 22:02
hello, I want to know how are the selections made and what are the selection rules please
November 12, 2022 at 15:51
It is a random selection by computer.
March 4, 2022 at 19:50
Hi Simon I had one confusion please tell me actually iam Afghan dv lottery winner 2022 but I had one illegal immigration from iran to Turkey in my passport there’s no exit stamp of Iran because I went illegally to Turkey then after 3 months I got deported from Turkey but I disclosed it in my ds-260 form so what you think this action or this illegal immigration crime would reject my dv case or it will ignored by officer is this important for officers?
March 6, 2022 at 17:34
If it appears on the police report they might be concerned.
March 20, 2022 at 12:41
Hi Simon!
My CN 2022AF16*** ( Egypt)
Currently I’m living in Dubai, but I have selected Cairo for an interview in DS260, now my question is if my case number not issue in visa bulletin for Egypt I mean they stop before to reach my number, can I transfer to Abu Dhabi to continue processing my case.
Thank you
March 20, 2022 at 21:05
Even if you transfer you are not current. But yes, if you can transfer, do that since Cairo is not working well.

Hi Simon, I have submitted my DS260 awaiting visa appointment in Sydney. Case number in the 2000’s so hasn’t been reached yet. While I wait, do you recommend I transfer to Auckland for my interview as it sounds like Sydney is not working well either?

If you have a way to transfer there, yes that would be wise. Auckland may refuse the transfer (you can ask them) BUT Suva is helping some Aussies – try them perhaps.

Simons I was for the Fiscal Year 2022 with a case number AF18156 and filled and submitted my D-260 on October 2021. I have not yet been scheduled I don’t know why .

Many people are not being scheduled. It depends a lot on which embassy you are at. If you are at a good embassy you have a chance. If not, well you may have no chance.

Hi Sir,
I mistakenly did the police clearance for 2years instead of 6years of staying. Im planning to redo another police clearance but as im waiting for the email interview from kcc. In case the police clearance delays and my interview is happening, wil the 2years police clearance will be acceptable?

Hello brit! i am dv 2022 AF56xxx. i attend interview on 24th feb. 2022 i was congatulated by the consul who interview and told me they will contact me when my case is ready. In march i recieved an email that my case is delay. My visa status on the CEAC website is showing ready since then. Is they any issue that might cause this?
April 24, 2022 at 23:37

Simon kcc scheduled me interview 3 jun, I want to reassign my case to another embassy bc I can’t attend for family reason at that country so how many days probably it will take to reschedule my interview at the new embassy, will they schedule later or 3 Jun is there to attend thanks for your humble attitude.
April 24, 2022 at 23:38
Changing to another embassy could add delay and risk.

Hi sir,
Been in India, 2010 to 2014 then went back for a year of 2015, then came back in india for for 2years 2016 to 2017
On my police clearance its only mentioned 2016 to 2017
Will this be an issue during the interview?
April 28, 2022 at 04:42
It depends on standards in that country – so I don’t know.

Hi Simon,
Greetings!
My case is AF42XXX and case when current since April and summitted DS-260 in JUNE. But have not been scheduled for interview. is it advisable to change my embassy now due to the fact that my home country is already scheduling interviews for cases with AF63XXX numbers?

I cannot advise you based on such vague details, and even with more detail you would need to make any decisions for yourself.
