May 8, 2015 at 20:16
Yes I know some AS case numbers….
May 9, 2015 at 14:14
Yes, You’re right Ali,
There is NO winners from ( Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan )
May 10, 2015 at 19:51
Hello Milad
I am winner from Iraq.
May 8, 2015 at 18:51
Yes I am going to write a quick note about what 84000 means – but of course we will have better information once we see the country/regional numbers (in the next VB I hope).
Thank you for the Persian version of my name!!

May 8, 2015 at 19:32
Hi Brit, I know CN 74400 seems risky but pls can you also tell me the possibility of it becoming current before the end of DV 2015? I’m so scare cuz my husband and I had been to the states twice but unfortunately for us, we wanted to spend our vacation next mnth but were denied monday. All the consular could say to us was we should wait for the DV. I’m so scare, I don’t know if our number is ever going to be current.
May 8, 2015 at 20:11
That is a risky number. Theoretically possible, but a low chance….
May 8, 2015 at 20:11
@BritSimon Your predictions were accurate.
May 8, 2015 at 21:06
Yup! 🙂
May 8, 2015 at 20:28
Hi brit I want to know what is the difference between 53xxx from ghana and the 53xxx from ivory coast.
May 8, 2015 at 21:08
The country. 🙂
Difference is there would be no 53XXX from Ghana as they are limited during the draw…
May 8, 2015 at 20:28
@BritSimon,
I’m an international student on the F-1 visa, graduating in the Spring (or Summer 2016). I’m the only one in my family who doesn’t have the US citizenship or residency. I have been chosen for the further processing in the DV2016 lottery.
My Case Number (CN) is 2016EU00018XXX.
For the qualifications (1), U.S. Department of State (DoS) has listed, the “education” and “work” requirements.
Questions:
1) Are the applications with the CN above most likely to be chosen?
2) I want to make sure it’s either, work experience or education, not both. Do I meet the qualifications, based on the background above?
3) Do you have any piece of advice for any part of the further process?
Thank you.
Best,
Sam

May 8, 2015 at 21:04
1. That number is safe.
2. It is either. Your eligibility is to do with your education before University/College. Elementary and secondary education – and that is country specific. It is the point at which you can enter a US University without further exams – usually attained around age 18.
3. Read my blog and read the guide I have produced.

sorry I wanted to know I must now begin filling DS260 or I can wait a some few days… to know that my case number AF00003XXX or what you advice me ??
May 8, 2015 at 21:26
Hi and thanks for your awesome website.
you said that maybe there is a second draw.
but I heard that there is an announcement of KCC that there this was the only draw. I want to know that is this true ? does we have any chance in 2016 ?
thanks a lot
May 8, 2015 at 22:32
THey are saying what they have been told to say. I am speculating. Nothing is for certain….
May 8, 2015 at 23:12

simon I wanted to know I must now begin filling DS260 or I can wait a some few days… to know that my case number AF00003XXX or what you advice me ??
May 8, 2015 at 22:05
Hi Brit,
I’m really appreciate what you are doing to help people like me. I’m following your post since yesterday about this “session timed out” theory. You was right I got the NL1 yesterday night and my CN 2016AF00014xxx and I have few questions and I hope if you can help me. 1) what is your expectation for the date of interview?. 2) I’m from Egypt but I’m living in Germany right now, do think what is better to make the interview in Egypt, Germany or no difference? 3) If i will do my interview in Germany and Egypt is excepted from Africa like 2015, which number should I follow in the vise bulletin, Egypt or Africa? 4) Finally, I’m married and my wife is already registered in my DS260 application but we expected to have our first baby this August, do you think it is better to wait till the delivery of the baby and then I submit the DS260 after adding him or this will be late?
Thanks in advance!!
May 9, 2015 at 00:51
1. Maybe January – we need to wait for a while to start guessing…
2. Egypt might be easier (search my site for league table)
3. You will follow Egypt numbers.
4. Submit and add the child when born.
May 9, 2015 at 01:29
Thank you so much for your quick reply. Sorry but I have another question. I and my wife have a secure life in Germany, both are working. I’m assistant prof. in the university and she is a medical doctor. I have a permanent residence here and I can apply for German nationality. I’m afraid to scarify with everything in Germany and then we could have bad luck when we move to US. My question, is it possible after we get the visa and travel to US, we can apply for the green card and come back to work in Germany or we should stay and work only in US after issuing the GC? what is your advice to us?
May 8, 2015 at 23:11
Hi there, why is my confirmation number different from everyone else’s? I’m from Europe and my cn starts with 20163z2…… Everyone from Europe has a EU after 2016, I have 3z2. Can anyone clarify this for me please?
May 9, 2015 at 00:45
YOu are quoting your confirmation number – they are talking about their case number.
YOu use your confirmation number to see if you are selected. If you are selected you see a letter and that has the case number.
May 8, 2015 at 23:12
Hello Mr.Brits, can you please tell me what are the odds of a 2nd Draw, and had it happen before ?
thank you
May 9, 2015 at 00:44
Yes it happened before but it will be tiny if it happens. Don’t focus on it!
May 8, 2015 at 23:16
ok Brit I want now to know if 2016AF53xxx is safe for this DV2016
May 9, 2015 at 00:18
hi britsimon
You said
There might be a second small draw I a few months – but much smaller than this one.
Does this mean that he will choose from group of (has not been selected).
Or they have winners but is not detected them
Is it possible for new winners their number be less than 84
May 9, 2015 at 00:22
THe case numbers are already assigned – it just means revealing 84001, 84002 and so on. So – the new selectees would all be at the back of the queue.
May 9, 2015 at 14:35
Hi mr brit iam dv-2015 winner and my Cn is af578×× do u think that i have 100% chance to go for interview ?
May 9, 2015 at 20:35

May 9, 2015 at 14:43
Hi mr brit iam dv2015 winner my cn is af578xx do i have a 100 % chance to go for interview ?
May 9, 2015 at 05:35
Hi sir
How is CN7xxx from AS ?
Risky ? Safe ? Good ? Great ?
May 9, 2015 at 21:09
Good to great.
May 9, 2015 at 05:52
Hi Brit I won the green card me my hubby and two kids. I applied passports for my two kids, but will take 21 days to get them. I read on D.v lottery that you should apply for visa interview as soon as possible. My question is , will I be late. And maybe lose my chance. I can only fill the online application form after my kids passports are processed and that’s like 3 weeks from now. Please let me know. Thanks and keep up the good work….( From kenya)
May 9, 2015 at 11:31
If a second draw does happen, when will it be ? And the small amount of people that get chosen from that draw, when would they get their interview appointement ?
Thank You Again, God bless you Mr Brit
May 9, 2015 at 21:05
If there is a 2nd draw it will be a small number if cases around october. Don’t hold your breath for that…
May 9, 2015 at 13:22
where are you BritSimon we need you?
May 9, 2015 at 20:34
Patience is a virtue…
May 9, 2015 at 16:33
Hi Brit
I would appreciate if you could clarify this question of mine:
I was born in the Netherlands, but I am not dutch, my parents aren’t dutch. My nationality is from Middle-East, and I don’t have a dutch passport. When filing the dv lottery form, can I claim eligibility based on my country of both which is Netherlands though I don’t have a dutch passport or nationality?
Many thanks
May 9, 2015 at 20:58
You did it right. Your birth certificate is what is important. ..
May 9, 2015 at 18:34
Hello Simon
Thanks for your endless efforts .
I have been applied to DV-lottery 2016 by someone else, and he misspelled my last name, while the confirmation number is exist beside the digital signature, How can I check my result in the DV-Lottery 2016, please help me .
May 9, 2015 at 20:56
You need the accurate name…
May 9, 2015 at 22:04
From where can I get it, because the last name is lost .
Can the case number and the digital signature solve that ?
May 9, 2015 at 22:06
sorry , I mean the confirmation number
May 10, 2015 at 06:08

May 9, 2015 at 21:05
simon I wanted to know I must now begin filling DS260 or I can wait a some few days… to know that my case number AF00003XXX or what you advice me ??
May 9, 2015 at 21:17
Hello Simon
Do you think that an error occurred in the draw
How percent
Because people are telling them that an error in the data
May 10, 2015 at 06:14
No – the draw was accurate – just the notification was broken.
May 10, 2015 at 02:02
Thanks Brit, but my birth certificate is from middle east and it mentions Netherlands only, so I can still claim eligibility based on country of Netherlands?
May 10, 2015 at 06:00
I would obtain some additional proof if I were you that shows your parents were there at the time of your birth.
May 10, 2015 at 05:31
Hi BritSimon,
My CN number is AF00053XXX From Algeria, do I have a chance to get the VISA.
Thanx
May 10, 2015 at 05:56
Yes
May 10, 2015 at 09:18
Hi Simon,
I am a 2015 winner, next month I have interview. The problem is: I had a previous surname. In my data for immigration to Canada, I gave some wrong in spelling of my previous surname. but for DS26, I have used correct spelling. I am worry for this mistake. My question is, is it necessary to report it in my interview next month? Is it causes longer AP for me (because I am from Iran)?
Thank you for considering my question.
May 10, 2015 at 10:09
Alireza, it’s fine. As long as it is correct on your DS260 you should be fine, and no need to mention it on the interview day. It’s not for sure that you might get AP check. If you had military service in Iran (sarbazi) or any kind of government jobs (kaare dolati), or have university degrees in some engineering fields, then it is likely that you end up with AP, otherwise the chances of avoiding AP is quite high.
May 11, 2015 at 01:55
Thank you Omid to your advise.
May 10, 2015 at 13:46
Given that you are already in Canada I expect your AP (IF you get it) could be shorter than other Iranians. It is only a guess. All you can do is wait and see….. good luck.
May 11, 2015 at 01:58
Thank you Simon for quick reply. I guess you agree with omid as he suggested it is not necessary to mention about my previous surname during the interview, Am I right?
May 11, 2015 at 05:09
Yes
May 10, 2015 at 09:23
Hi Brit, I have also won and I want to marry my fiancé so I go to the states with her. I am wondering how the consular will react to marriage after winning the DV lottery. We planned on getting married next year but winning this lottery has made us change plans to marrying now so I submit ds206 with her. Please advise.
May 10, 2015 at 13:47
That is fine, just make sure you can prove the relationship already existed (photos, evidence of trips together and so on).
May 10, 2015 at 11:29
Hi Britsimon pls im from Ghana. A relative of mine who works as a driver and has about 4 years of work experience in a water company won this year’s dv lottery wf case no 2016AF4*** which i really know is a good number with a higher chance for interview. My question ix he has no high school certificate and he applied as a vocational cux of his lack of high school cert. wil he b given a visa based on his work n pls does his profession qualify him to be given a visa during interview? Pls what are his chances?
May 10, 2015 at 13:56
Work as a driver is not the level of work required to meet the qualifications. It sounds like he is not eligible to benefit from the win. I’m sorry!
May 10, 2015 at 11:46
Hi pls my wife won this year’s dv lottery wf a case number 2016AF5*** We registered as couple so that makes me a derivative hence both of us wl go for interview after submitting our ds 260. I am a graduate buh she only completed high school this month. Meanwhile her high school results will be released in December this year. But with her low case number it’s likely we might be interviewed in October this year. Pls my question is when do you think it wl be appropriate to submit our ds 260 so as to prolong our interview date before her results are released in Dec this year OR shd we still fill the online ds 260 now and still go for the interview? Will the consular officer agree with us to return her result as soon as it is released before issuing the visa? I’m confused pls help me take the right decision.Thank you.
May 10, 2015 at 13:59
Personally I would delay the submission until later in the year so that you interview in January onwards. That would be no risk to your application, but removes the need for AP which is sometimes the cause of difficulty in some cases.
May 10, 2015 at 14:59
Thanks a lot Britsimon for this advice. So pls would you suggest i submit the ds 260 during November. Again doesn’t the submission of ds 260 form expire for a certain period of time?
May 10, 2015 at 15:07
Hi Brit,
Thank you so much for your reply for my previous questions. Sorry but I still have one important question. I and my wife have a secure life in Germany, both are working. I’m assistant prof. “Material scientist” in one of German university and she is a medical doctor.
I hope if you can help me with some advice.
May 10, 2015 at 19:37
The Green Card comes with rights and obligations. The obligations include tax reporting on worldwide income – which is onerous. If you simple want to visit the USA from time to time – ESTA is simple and easy. The only reason to get the GC is if you wish to live in the USA. It is hard to leave a secure life and that is something you will have to weigh carefully….
May 10, 2015 at 15:20
Hi Simon,
A friend is claiming that her close relative is among selectees and that the relative has chosen the “high school no diploma” option in his entry form. In theory seems ok but based on your experience, has a case like this actually ever happened before?
Thank you for your time,
Cyrus (Iran)
May 10, 2015 at 19:38
There is no problem with that. However the selectee must qualify either on education OR work experience. Best to read this – https://britsimonsays.com/education-or-work-experience-qualifying-for-the-dv-lottery/
May 10, 2015 at 16:25
Hello BritSimon! By now I pretty much feel I know you. You know why? Because I have been stalking you this month. Relax it is not on purpose. I was just searching information about DV Lottery and I get to know. I have been able to see your work and effort to help DV Lottery winners. For that I don’t know how to thank you. You are amazing person I don’t know how you are capable to do that. When I come to my case, I applied to DV 2015 but I didn’t get selected. After that period you have no idea how much depressed I was. I couldn’t even lead my life normally. I have also thought about suicide. Somehow I managed to pass that time but this day come again. And now I don’t know how I am going to do that again. I am terribly afraid to check my status. i am afraid that i may not get selected and go back to that situation. It is Just i don’t have life here anymore. Please give me some Advice??????????????? I owe you brother.
May 10, 2015 at 22:52
Hi BritSimon!
I recently posted that my forgotten confirmation number does not return, and got a response probably input data is wrong.
Is there possibility of a system glitch similar to session Time out, which has not been fixed in relation to forgotten number script?
Background: hard drive crash led to loss of confirmation number. My wife’s confirmation retrieved a first day with not selected notice. Mine is not retrieved. I have used all possible and impossible combinations, without any luck. My submission was successful in October.
I will appreciate any ideas to check the status. Would be a shame to miss a chance.
Thank you for your help and advice
May 10, 2015 at 23:43
Without a number or the forgot conf number function I can’t think what else you can do…
May 11, 2015 at 01:53
What is the best time to submit DS 260 file and if there is expiration period.
Thank you.
May 11, 2015 at 02:27
You don’t need to rush it. If you have a low number and you want an early interview, submit it soon. If not, any time over the next year to suit your timeline
May 11, 2015 at 07:49
Man, you are doing hell of job! Just wanted to thank you for all the time you spend and all the efforts fpr bringing others all this information.
thank you
May 11, 2015 at 14:11
Thanks for saying thanks!!
May 11, 2015 at 09:21
Hello
I am selected for DV 2016. I completed forms DS 260 for me, wife and our two children where I received confirmations. I wanted to know If I need to upload photos online in the system right now or at this stage there is no need ?
Regards,
Alban
May 11, 2015 at 14:11
No – the DS260 does not require a photo.
May 11, 2015 at 11:16
No need, there is no provision for uploading photos
May 11, 2015 at 13:47
Thank you for your reply
May 11, 2015 at 13:20
Whay last year 125000 but this year 85000.????????
May 11, 2015 at 14:01
They seem to have realized that 125k is far too many selectees – so they have corrected. I personally think they have OVER corrected.
May 11, 2015 at 15:06
You might think that they have more in October selected
May 11, 2015 at 15:40
Maybe….
May 11, 2015 at 13:28
Why the delay in the deployment of Visa bulettin?
Does that mean that the figure will be a few?
May 11, 2015 at 14:02
It doesn’t mean anything, the VB is not just about VB cases. It is scheduled to be released by the 15th – so it isn’t late.
May 11, 2015 at 13:54
If you can help me on this!
If my case number is like this 2016EU00022XXX.
It means I am elected by the 22XXX from europe or 22XXX from around the world?
May 11, 2015 at 14:14
22XXX in Europe, but there are not 22000 people in front of you – there are gaps between the numbers.
May 11, 2015 at 14:53
Thank you again for your help.
Do you think that is a very high number to be called for interview?
May 11, 2015 at 15:40
No it is fine.
May 11, 2015 at 14:36
Hey simon!
Does the DS260 require any bank account informations?
May 11, 2015 at 15:38
No. You might need that information for the interview.
May 11, 2015 at 23:51
Thank you!
Will the low 2016 DV selectees number have any impact on the VB for the next year?
May 12, 2015 at 00:25
Well yes – we now know how many selectees there are – so that is what the VBs will be dealing with next year.
May 11, 2015 at 16:17
Hi Brit pls what is the AP in dv lottery
May 11, 2015 at 17:26

May 11, 2015 at 21:07
could you predicte the monthe of my interview pleazzz
May 11, 2015 at 21:08
Hey Brit – I am currently already living in the USA on an E3 visa and was selected for the green card lottery. I am an Aussie citizen and received case number 2016OC000001XX which I understand is quite low and great to have. Do you have any info or knowledge on the Adjustment of Status process for those already living in the USA instead of the Consulate route?
May 11, 2015 at 23:56
YOu can certainly adjust – I did. Best source of AOS info is here:-http://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2016-aos-only.326148/
May 11, 2015 at 21:26
When do a visa number is available for the 2016 winners.
Thanks
May 12, 2015 at 02:48
Dear Brit, im having a 2016AF41***, is it really safe? thank you!
May 12, 2015 at 05:59
Yes.
May 12, 2015 at 06:12
Dear Brit, is 2016AF00018xxx safe, good or bad?
May 12, 2015 at 13:13
Safe.
May 12, 2015 at 13:19
Dear brit .did you see 2016 bulletin.what do you think about 91k.You might think that they have more in October selected?????????
May 12, 2015 at 14:06
The letter said 84k and I said that was too low – I expected a second draw of maybe 5 to 10k. Since the number is actually 91.5k – I think the 2nd draw is less likely as they are now in the range I would have expected….
May 12, 2015 at 14:15
It’s too bad.god bye 2016.I hope for 2017
May 12, 2015 at 14:43
Dear Britsimon,I read in Us department of state:consular affairs fb that they don’t exepct a second draw,84000 is only an estimate so there will not be a second draw as they said. They said has not been selected is the final result
May 12, 2015 at 14:58
At 84000 that sounded too low to me which is why I was speaking of a second draw (which would have been 5000 to 10000 people). Now they have released the numbers – 91500. At that level there may no longer be a need for a second draw as they are now in the range I thought they should be….
May 12, 2015 at 15:44
where is possible to see numbers?in particular I would like to see italian winners
May 12, 2015 at 19:15
http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin/2015/visa-bulletin-for-june-2015.html
Italy – 410 selectees
May 13, 2015 at 08:24
thanks a lot Mr Britsimon
May 12, 2015 at 14:18
Approximately 91,563 applicants have been registered and notified and may now make an application for an immigrant visa. Since it is likely that some of the first *50,000 persons registered will not pursue their cases to visa issuance, this larger figure should insure that all DV-2016 numbers will be used during fiscal year 2016 (October 1, 2015 until September 30, 2016).
