The CEAC data has been extracted by Xarthisius. He was able to pull the data using a paid service to solve the captchas. Although there is a cost, it is faster than our “crowd” method that we used last year. So we should be very grateful to Xarthisius for getting this data for the first load. It allows us to start looking at data to understand many things about this year.
The video below is a useful introduction to the data and has some of my thoughts as I was looking at the data last night.
We now know the precise highest case numbers assigned in each region. This is not the final cutoff numbers, this is simply the highest winner number in each region.
AF – 73269
AS – 31565
EU – 55271
OC – 2247
SA – 4000
How to check your status and what the status codes mean
January 8, 2020 at 21:26
Reading your answers for high risk countries kind of confused me now.
I submitted DS260 prior to social medial sections being added to the forms and currently waiting to be current.
I am from a high risk country.
Are you saying it is better to unlock the forms and answer all the new questions within Ds-260 form before become current? or fill DS-5535 and hand it out to the CO if the questions are asked? or relay on the answer from one of the blog users as below and do nothing:
“If your DS-260 was submitted before the social media question was added, you will not be required to unlock your DS-260 to answer the question. If your DS-260 has not been submitted or is unlocked for any reason, you will need to answer all questions on the DS-260, including the social media question. You only need to select the social media that you have used in the last five years.”
And if it is required, should it be filled for principal applicant or the whole family?
January 9, 2020 at 01:35
It really depends on the case. High risk, or low risk. High number or low number. If you are high risk to be asked for the DS5535 AND you are a high number then you should open the DS260 to reduce the chance of delay AFTER the interview. It’s not rocket science. Basically – make a sensible decision.

Fisrt of all thanks for your help.I have a question about my sponsor. My CN is EU24*** and I just learned from my sponsor that he can’t support us (me and my wife) due to a problem with the law he just had last month. Please what do you suggest us about the new sponsor,to go to the interview with the documents of the new sponsor or to unlock our ds260 and make the changes. We haven’t unlocked it before.I would really appreciate your answer.

A financial supporter is NOT the same as the address where you want the GC sent. The latter is what is in your DS260 – you can change the financial sponsor without unlocking.

Hello Brit .
I have send the documents to KCC with email at 1 november 2019 ( Including Police certificate of my country and from a country that i have lived more then 6 months) My case number is 2020EU36*** .
I expext an interview at late summer . My question is : In the interview , should i go with those police certificates that i sended scanned to KCC before , or should i ask for new police certificates ?
January 11, 2020 at 00:39
Personally, I would get updated ones – but you “might” not need them.
January 12, 2020 at 16:43
Looking at last VB and the holes, when do u think 27XXX in Eu it will be current? I hope in May. What’s your opinion?
January 12, 2020 at 17:35
For a lot of people the question is “IF”, not when. For when – wait and see.
January 12, 2020 at 18:08
Hello dear Simon,
I really apologize for asking so many questions. I have very carefully looked through almost all your posts. And still one question is torturing me and I really need your opinion. I mentioned the countries I went for vacation in the DS-260 form. I know it was a mistake. I should have written countries related to work/training.
The question is, do you think I should unlock my case to edit that part? Or maybe it’s not a very important thing? I want to read your opinion, please.
Thank you for the patience.
January 12, 2020 at 19:03
You answered the questions on the form. Now relax, and stop overthinking.
January 12, 2020 at 23:07
I hate to ask this, but since the holes increase quite a lot in Asia after 15k, (1)do you think there’s a chance for high numbers/or for the region to go current? (2) I know I know I have to wait and see but might AS 23k get a chance? Your replies are really comforting to the soul! ??

I’m planning to move back to my home country early in June. Currently, I’m in the US, but my F1 Visa expires and I’m forced to leave the country. Once I’m back home, i need to update my ds260, by changing my current residency. Is it too risky, in your opinion to unblock my DS, if I’m expecting my interview in August/September (in the best case)? If yes, what would you advise?
My case # is EU50XXX.
Thank you in advance!
January 13, 2020 at 20:16
Yes you could be introducing some risk. Whilst you would not normally “predict” a change of address, KCC will take a note to schedule your case for interview in your home country. So – you can email them now explaining that you intend to process via consular processing in your home country, then update the DS260 as soon as you move.
January 14, 2020 at 16:16
Thank you Brit! Appreciate for your advice.
January 14, 2020 at 13:50

January 15, 2020 at 12:58
Hi Omar. You are from Europe?
January 14, 2020 at 14:09
Hi Simon, Does CEAC update visa status on daily basis or just once Visa Bulletin released at the second half of each month? My case number is current now so can I track my case progress via CEAC site now or after 15th of the month?
As example, Should I see at CEAC “In Transit” instead of “At NVC” before receiving my 2NL email or isn’t necessarily organized by this order?
January 14, 2020 at 23:21
When you get the 2NL email you will see the CEAC system is updated.
January 16, 2020 at 23:55
Hello Brit! How are you? Thanks for your help.

Thank in advance!

January 17, 2020 at 17:17
You simply explain things honestly. As long as they don’t suspect fraud, there is a good chance of approval.
January 24, 2020 at 19:45
Dear Brit . Can AN OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT serve as a backing for not becoming a public charge during interview? From my embassy after submitting the ds260 ,states that I don’t need to have a financial sponsor in the United States

Also what do you think about the recent bands and the Corona virus outbreak and their effect on the DV 2020 .
I am afraid many people will miss out.
February 3, 2020 at 17:26
We will have to see whether the virus has an effect or not.
February 3, 2020 at 21:05
