OK – I have uploaded “part two” of my movie length video. If nothing else this should help you get to sleep – this latest video is VERY long. So – if you are someone that really likes to know the details behind the comments, please go and watch that.
For others that just want the main point, and perhaps can’t understand my videos – let me cut to the chase about my thoughts and predictions.
The number of selectees is low in DV2020. So low in fact that we “may” see a second draw (check in October). There are a number of factors that could affect the lottery this year – which are fully explained in the video. But forgetting those for the moment, let’s go though the regions.
I expect some regions to go current (at least for the selectees we know of right now). Comparing selectee numbers and case numbers to DV2019 and DV2018 we are generally in good shape.
AF region looks good – apart from some risk for Egypt. Egypt has high response rates and high success rates, so it’s selectee number means there could be a chance that the 7% per country limit could be reached. In that case AF region could go current – but Egypt could remain on a lower number at the end of the year. I do NOT know where that cutoff would come – I am only speculating it might happen. You will have to “wait and see” if you have a high case number from Egypt.
AS region. If the travel ban continues, AS region is likely to go current. Nepal could also go current – although Nepal could also get close to the 7% limit, so like Egypt, there is a chance (although smaller) that there would be a final limit imposed for the highest case numbers in Nepal. Again – I cannot be certain about this – “wait and see” is the answer for high case numbers in Nepal.
EU region could also go current. Russia has a high selectee number, but responses and approval rates in Russia are not as high as Egypt so I am less concerned about the 7% limit. But only time will tell. Again – “wait and see”
OC region. I think OC will be current. There are no large selectee numbers for any given country and the holes rate is huge, so we can expect to see much higher final case numbers on the VB than we have previously seen.
SA region. The selectee count for SA seems high, but if you look more carefully it is mostly Cuba. So – if response or approval rates are low in Cuba, then the region might have a chance of being current. However, there may be some risk for the highest case numbers in the region.
OK – I hope that is helpful!

Brit, your efforts is much appreciated. I also appreciate people who know when to say “I don’t know for sure” when it comes to the future. Your analysis, along with your uncertainty is so logical that it closes the door to any speculator out there who claims “he knows for sure” what will happen. Sometimes “wait and see” is really an enough answer for people to go and have some sleep and stop trying to connect the dots since you connected them already. Thank you very much!!
July 12, 2019 at 19:02
Thanks for that!
July 12, 2019 at 19:39
Waaaooh Brit,
Just to express the joy in the clarity of your post.Am not a winner of dv2020 but any good job merit an applaus .so that is just what am trying to do.The post is just so satisfactory….. Your wisdom is helping the world.
July 12, 2019 at 19:49
Hi Brit, I am from Nepal and currently in USA. Case # AS14XXX. I haven’t filled the DS260 yet as per your suggestion. Now, that the selectees are less, do you think I can go ahead and fill the DS260 now?
Can I do the further processing like medical and other (whatever is possible) so that it could save time if in case my number goes current?
Thank you!
July 12, 2019 at 20:05
You can do that as long as you understand there is some risk. Do not have the medical until you have the 2NL though as your visa validity is based on the date of the medical.
July 14, 2019 at 01:11
Hello sir My case no is 14k from nepal but i see oddballstuff in 13k what does this mean??
July 12, 2019 at 19:56
If KCC will take in count of visitor ideas I will tell them to tell you to stop working else where and focus only on this. Toi deserve 100 000 $ per month; now I understand what is always written in chart of visa bulletin EXCEPT…
Am not a winner but honestly it is very clear.
Respect
July 12, 2019 at 21:20
Thanks so much Brit for this, I truly appreciate. Your efforts will not go in vain.
July 13, 2019 at 08:22
Thank u so much for your time and effort. I understand everything now, the only issue that i have is the travel ban in my country so luckly my case number is high AS30xxx so i guess my interview will be at the end of 2020 maybe until then a miracle will happen and the travel ban will be cancelled so im staying hopeful ?
July 13, 2019 at 17:01
Good luck.
July 13, 2019 at 08:38
hello i have already filled DS260 but in Nepal before 1 and half year address has been changed like before it was lalitpur 2 but now after few changes it has become lalitpur 3 . only the ward number is changed but place is same. In all the documents it is writtern 2. I have filled DS260 according to previous ward number but in recently translated birth certificate it is written ward number 3 ( former word number 2).
Do i need to unlock DS260 or it is not necessary to unlock . Does it affect if i unlock and make some changes.
please suggest me. Hopping for positive response .
THANK YOU SO MUCH
July 13, 2019 at 17:02
Always quote your case number (with year and region) so I can answer properly. You can unlock and correct.
July 31, 2019 at 15:56
Thank you so much for your reply
i am from asia with case number 85XX. winner for year 2020
some people are saying correct after you get second letter. i am in problem weather to send email to KCC and do correction. does it affect if unlock and do correction. kcc have already started to send email to send documents for further processing.
note: i have made mistake only in ward number of parents like it was lalitpur 2 before but now it has become lalitpur 3
July 31, 2019 at 21:16
Your DS260 cannot be corrected after the 2NL. I already told you to unlock and correct. Do that.
July 13, 2019 at 09:23
If dv 2020 is low selection as we seen if second draw happen is it possible lower than previous case number or it is must to higher thanks
July 13, 2019 at 17:03
They start from highest 1st draw numbers.
July 13, 2019 at 10:40
Hi Brit,
Thank you for the two videos and the explication.
You mentioned in the second video that the Nepalese case numbers are considered in the lower case numbers!
How they manage to do that?
Regards
July 13, 2019 at 17:08
It is a part of the draw process. Have a look at this:
https://britsimonsays.com/dv-lottery-draw-process-explained/
July 13, 2019 at 17:53
Damn it auto correction!
I meant that you mentioned the Nepalese case numbers are concentrated in the lower case numbers!
Is it due that they apply early for the DV?
Thanks
July 13, 2019 at 19:38
No. I do wish you would read some of my articles.
July 13, 2019 at 20:05
Dear Brit, I read your articles, and watch your videos and all your replies to the questions you receive.
In the article it says the case numbers are assigned randomly to the applicants in each region. In this case is there any preference that the Nepalese get the lower case numbers?
Regards
July 13, 2019 at 10:50
thank you for your effort
Regarding Egypt, can you tell us the rate of safety for cases like what you did in Africa (60000)
July 13, 2019 at 17:09
No – Egyptian cases have to wait and see…
August 15, 2019 at 20:49
Thx for our help
Af – Egypt – Case no 56000 is safety
August 16, 2019 at 03:06
I don’t know.
July 13, 2019 at 12:35
Brit! I wanted to ask about the elligibility when it comes to english language ,how good should a dv applicant speak anglish to be granted a visa at embassy. If an applicant doesnt speak english good what happens? thanks brit
July 13, 2019 at 17:13
Doesn’t matter.
Ermal – please read the FAQ. You are asking a lot of questions, take some time to read…
July 13, 2019 at 14:17
another question brit ! should the university diploma be notarised or not ,for the embassy ?
July 13, 2019 at 17:18
Depends on the embassy instructions. Again – read more.
July 13, 2019 at 20:52
Hi Simon,
Great videos man !!
I hope I can get your best estimate on my question. Considering your knowledge, theories and all the great data you have complied through out the past years, When do you think a case number of AS20Xxx ( Jordan ) would get current ?
Thanks.
July 13, 2019 at 22:21
Isn’t that already answered above and in the videos???
July 13, 2019 at 23:11
Hi Simon,
Thanks for your blog! Great job!
I have a quickly question: if there will be a second draw, the new selection will be from the last higher cn that was already selected or from all the pull again?
I hope that my question make sense!
Thanks

July 14, 2019 at 01:26
Hello sir what is the highest case number from Nepal
July 14, 2019 at 03:04
I dont have precise details.
July 15, 2019 at 06:33
Hi we are winner for DV2020 and our case number is AS28XXX. We have submitted the DS260 on June 2nd. Untill now we havent heard from KCC.
Do we need to wait or contact KCC
July 15, 2019 at 17:00
You should just wait. Because of your case number, there will be NOTHING happening for months – until well into 2020.
July 15, 2019 at 10:37
Hi Brit,
I sent my DS-260 on May 10th and still haven’t heard back from KCC. Do you think I should contact them or is it too early?
Also, some info that I filled in the form will change by the time I get my interview (like graduating med school) – do u think I have to unlock and change it or should I just inform that in the interview?
Thanks!
July 16, 2019 at 00:32
I can’t answer sensibly without case number (year/region/number range).
July 16, 2019 at 10:19
Sorry, my case number is 2020AS22xxx
July 16, 2019 at 13:02
Then don’t expect anything to happen in 2019. It will be spring next year before anything happens. Patience.
July 15, 2019 at 16:46
Fervent greetings big brother, I’m sorry to disturb you once more, when do you think the case number for 2020Af26×××, can go for an interview. Happy to receive your reply. Thanks
July 16, 2019 at 00:49
Did you read the article????
July 16, 2019 at 05:01
Which article big brother.
July 16, 2019 at 05:40
The one above. Do that, then wait and see. Probably early 2020.
July 15, 2019 at 17:48
hi Brit, you mentioned entries with re-used photos were disqualified automatically and made gaps. But i was selected with reused photo from last years entry. Does that mean they will disqualify me at [email protected]`? do they see previous entries? Im from eu and my cn is in 4xxxx’s. thanks
July 16, 2019 at 01:01
No I did NOT say that. I said that one possibility was that reused photos MIGHT have been the reason for more holes. But your case is evidence against that suggestion.
For your case you do face an additional risk for interview though since you did not follow the instructions.
July 16, 2019 at 09:12
Thanks Brit
I really appreciate what your doing here, Now I have enough info. I went through FAQ and cover all my questions and your DV2020 analysis is logical I know it’s a prediction but you’ve perfectly analyzed the data, next step only wait and see what’s gonna happen.
Thanks again mate.
July 16, 2019 at 12:59
🙂
July 16, 2019 at 18:57
I’m selected but I don’t think that picture I used for application is good enough… If I bring one with valid requirements on interview I won’t have any problems?
July 16, 2019 at 20:23
There remains a small risk if the photo was really bad in some way.
July 16, 2019 at 20:26
Well I done all pixel and format requirements with white background and everything like they wanted but some google green lottery photo validator say it’s more space between upper edge and my head… Hopefully that won’t make me problems as I’m EU34xxx and my number is safe…
July 16, 2019 at 20:35
It’s probably fine. People worry too much about the minute differences on percentages…
July 17, 2019 at 08:18
Hey britt, m from nepal also the selective of 2020, my case is around 500 and i send ds-260 form like on may 20, should i send my document to kcc or not?
July 17, 2019 at 17:00
Wait until they ask you.
July 18, 2019 at 09:24
also i havent added my social account, coz when i fill my ds-260 form it wasnt on the form, does it will make any changes?
July 18, 2019 at 09:53
No problem.
July 17, 2019 at 11:42
Hi BritSimon,
I have no questions, I just wanted to say many thanks for all your hard work and the usefull information you provide for us here. I can finally chill that my CN (EU 32XXX) will become current sometime in 2020. Just let me know where I should send you some ice cold beer when I’m finally in the US, you totally deserve it ;).
July 17, 2019 at 17:17
Hehehe. Glad it helped. How did you know I like beer???
July 17, 2019 at 22:55
I have a 6th sense for fellow beer lovers :)) I’m serious abot this. Since I am planning to have a 3-4 weeks long road trip across US with my wife when we finally get there, I could eventually deliver it personally :). If however you’re not confortable with sharing your address via e-mail (which is totally understandable) I’ll swap my offer for a donation. Many thanks again !
July 18, 2019 at 09:41
Haha, it’s a BIG country…
Thanks for the thought though!
July 17, 2019 at 18:58
Hallo Simon, in which previous years did they do second Draw? We’re the circumstances similar like this year?
July 18, 2019 at 05:48
Good question! I wonder that too. Also how many “drawers” has it been previous times… 🙂
July 18, 2019 at 09:36
DV2018 was one such year.
July 24, 2019 at 14:32
Wasn’t it 2017? I thought 2018 was terribly overselected.
July 24, 2019 at 15:16
Possibly – just from memory. Either way – it happens.

July 18, 2019 at 12:02
Hello Brit,
Once we start filling up DS-260 and somehow we ended up in some section from where we couldn’t fill it up further and we just close the form simply saving it without submmiting for later edits. Does that makes any effect on the case number? and how we can access that partially filled ds-260 form?
July 18, 2019 at 14:51
I don;t know what you did, but you can go back into the system to access your form. Just try. It’s not hard.
July 18, 2019 at 16:12
Ok. Thank you Brit.
I haven’t started filling up the form yet. Local agents here are charging too much for form fill up and I thought its better to do it myself. Just curious, If I may not be able to fill up the form completely in one attempt and I may have to edit the form later for submission. That was my curiosity actually.
July 18, 2019 at 16:34
You can save as you go.
July 18, 2019 at 21:02
Hi I’m wondering if I got selected that means my picture is correct or they will check later or by the time of the interview? it seems my head it’s a little bit big for the allowed measurements, as they are very precise on their website.
July 19, 2019 at 00:17
It would not normally be a problem.
July 20, 2019 at 06:44
Hello Britsimon, Firstly, thank you so much for your dedication amd trials to help other people.
secondly, I have a question regarding the ds260 processing time, my husband is the main applicant, but I was issued a greencard ( now expired and has never been renewed) in 2001 and I asked them in the application to issue me a new card with a new social security number. Does this lengthen the processing time for them to make a background check? Given that our case number is in the AF14000’S. Thanks a lot.
July 20, 2019 at 06:46
it was issues in 1991 and expired in 2001. ( I was still a minor)
July 20, 2019 at 06:54
DV2020AF14XXX. I was never present illegally in the USA, never broke any law.
July 20, 2019 at 14:56
I can’t be that precise for an individual case. But DS260s don’t generally take more than a month or two to process.
July 20, 2019 at 15:26
Is the travel ban still valid? What does that mean for selectees from Iran? Are they not even called for an interview or they just stay on AP forever after the interview?
July 20, 2019 at 15:36
They can be interviewed, but most will remain on AP or be refused.
July 20, 2019 at 15:43
That sounds counterproductive… If they know for sure they would be refused then why waste time to process and schedule 4400 applicants? It’s like 40% of the entire AS region…
July 20, 2019 at 15:48
Because some (very few) might have reason to overcome the ban (such as dual citizenship) and no one can know that without giving them a chance to represent their case. Also, what if the ban is lifted…
July 20, 2019 at 16:06
I hear you, but as long as the ban is in place they could easily track down those with dual citizenship just by looking at their DS-260. It’s just sounds really ineffective to me, plus it’s quite a hassle for Iranians as they have to travel to another country for an interview and that just creates false hopes…
July 20, 2019 at 18:55
But you see that they must submit the DS260 – and then in that case a request for processing has been made and an interview will be given if the number becomes current. That is a “right” afforded to anyone that wants it. People don’t have to submit documents, people don’t have to attend interviews. People must take responsibility for themselves.
July 21, 2019 at 00:43
Hi Brit,
I would like to have an expert opinion.
1. When regions are current, does KCC process the remaining DS-260 forms based on CN or based on date of submission?
2. I have a high CN, 2020EU52xxx. As Europe might be current, and in my country (Albania) the 7 % cap might be reached earlier (people resond and the refusal rate is low) does late submission prevent chanses of interviews, although I am aware its very little likely to be interviewed. (I might have a chance if the cap would be 3850 as you have explained in your video)
Thank you,
July 21, 2019 at 00:57
1. It’s an invalid question. They decide if a region can go current based on DS260s already submitted.
2. You are quite confused. Albania won’t get near the cap and I think your number will be fine. Just relax and be patient.
July 21, 2019 at 21:11
Thanks Mr. Brit for all that you do. May God reward you lots.
When there is a second draw for DV 2020, how do selectees know?Does KCC send e-mails? I imagine many people are not always aware which would additionally reduce the number of selectees. Thanks alot.
July 22, 2019 at 05:41
No emails. People check, or they don’t check.
July 21, 2019 at 21:36
Why would they need a second draw for DV 2020? To make the number of visas to be 50,000?Why wouldn’t they over select at once instead of selecting twice?Am not understanding the logic behind the second draw. Please explain if you can. Thanks
July 22, 2019 at 05:42
If they select too few selectees they MIGHT add some more. Not everyone proceeds or gets approved so 80000 selectees is not enough for 50000 visas.
July 22, 2019 at 09:44
Thank you so much for explaining this Mr. Brit.
July 24, 2019 at 13:29
Hi Brit ,
I am the winner in the 2020 lottery, I am from Egypt my wife is Russian we live in Egypt now for 5 years , she have Egyptian nationality as well , when I fill the ds260 they ask about the info like full name in native language do I have to use the Egyptian nationality as the main nationality or the Russian one as she is originally Russian ?
Secondly is it enough to take the police clearance from the Russian embassy in Egypt for the time she been living in Russia ? Or I have to make he do one in Russia ? As she is there now for family visit .
Thanks for you help .
July 24, 2019 at 15:12
1. Russian.
2. You will need one from Russia – and you need to read the instructions!!!
July 24, 2019 at 15:39
Sorry , but which instructions? Do you mean instructions in your website ?
July 24, 2019 at 16:17
The official instructions. You have the link in your 1NL.
July 24, 2019 at 18:25
Yes I understand that if I stayed in any country mire than 6 month I have To get a police clearance , what I am asking for is the source of this clearance as I have one now from the Russian government (Russian embassy in Cairo) or I have to get clearance from inside Russia ? Or it doesn’t matter as any of them will be ok ?
Thanks
July 27, 2019 at 00:32
You follow the exact instructions, including what is explained on the country reciprocity page.
July 24, 2019 at 18:57
Mohamed, the one from the embassy is fine (the embassy will not issue a certificate unless they get confirmation from the authorities in Russia). My friend obtained police certificate from Malaysian Embassy and it was accepted by KCC.
July 24, 2019 at 19:27
Thanks a lot Nabil 🙂
July 27, 2019 at 23:59
Hi Brit,6
Thanks for your advice.
I’m a DV 2019 winner I came to USA 3 days ago and waiting my green card now.
I wanna apply for a re-entry permit can u plz advice me where should I go ? Where can I find a USCIS office where I can ask them questions and submit the travel documents.
I’m currently staying in Virginia next to Washington DC
Thanks a lot
July 28, 2019 at 03:59
You can google the I-131 and learn about the process.
July 29, 2019 at 20:44
Thanks for your reply .
Plz can I leave the USA before receiving my hard green card ? How many months can I stay outside the USA ? I read 1 year as a first time is ok 🙂
Note : if I went back to my country my friend here in the USA will receive the green card and send it to me by Aramex or any other mailing.
July 29, 2019 at 23:51
Please read the FAQ.
July 30, 2019 at 11:02
Hi Simon,
Selectees form Uzbekistan is noticable decreased. Last year it was about 3500 and this year 1743. What do you think about this?
And why there is a lot of refuses for Uzbkeistan in visa issuance? almot 50 % or more refused.
Thanks
July 30, 2019 at 14:08
There is some additional security screen in place this year. Uzbekistan selectees seem to be hit by this more than some other countries, which might also be the reason why their candidates were being refused in higher numbers. So maybe the refusal rate for 2020 will be lower in Uzbekistan since there were more pre-announcement disqualifications.
August 1, 2019 at 23:20
Thank you Mr. Brit. Helpful as always.
If there is a possibility of a second draw for DV2020 will it still take place in September/October 2020 even if DV2020,is starting in October 2019?
I thought the Second draw would be a surplus.
Thank you
August 2, 2019 at 05:39
That is what I already said.
August 8, 2019 at 04:07
Thank you BritSimon for what you are doing. I have a question. I ‘m selected for DV2020.
I wanted to start the DS-260 Form. I entered surname, Case Number, DOB, Confirmation Number and the characters on the screen and Submit. But there was this message showing “Your request cannot be processed at this time.” I tried many time so far with no success. What does it mean?
August 8, 2019 at 04:59
I don’t know – try a different browser in a few days.
August 9, 2019 at 08:57
Hi Christie & Mr.Brit,
Same here. I was going to ask Mr.Brit the same thing before I saw your post.
We’re DV2020 AS Region and already submit our DS260.
We never had any problem before when we want to view our DS 260, but it has been 2 days since I entered all of my datas and there was notification pop out and the message same like yours. “Your request can not be processed at this time.” We’ve tried it with another browser and the result is the same.
Let us just try it again in a few days.
August 9, 2019 at 09:24
i was updating my DS-260 , and when i login again it keep gives me error page:
(Your request cannot be processed at this time)
all browsers and networks is giving the same page !
do you know how to solve this error?
August 9, 2019 at 14:48
Others are having the same problem – so wait a few days.
September 9, 2019 at 10:53
hi Simon, is it necessary to know English language for the applicant? how important is it for an interview, will it be possible to give interview in native language? my wife is a principle applicant and i am her dependent. My case number is AS20208XXX.
September 9, 2019 at 18:42
Not essential, but obviously you should try.
September 10, 2019 at 04:01
thankx simon
September 19, 2019 at 16:26
Dear Sir, I followed your amazing details and thanks for the valuable information.
My Case # is 2020AS17xxx and I think my Interview will be sheduled In April 2021. Let me know your idea about the safe level of my case number?
Thank you.
September 19, 2019 at 20:32
The article above covers that.
September 24, 2019 at 00:51
Dear Britt,
Thank you for your untired job, trying to answer all our questions!
I have a question regarding documents.
I have been selected for dv 2020,and my number is Eu13×××,but havnt got an email yet.
Is there a way to know at least when would i get an email regarding the documents to be sent?
Im getting a bit confused knowing that i filled ds260 in may.
1)Do you have any predictions approximately when i will be asked to send documents?
2)Do i have to worry?
3)Does it affect on status(i filled it single than i changed to married as i married my gf with whom im dating since 2 years ago)
Thank you in advance for you reply!
September 24, 2019 at 04:35
1. No

Hi Simone
Why didn’t it’s goona be a second draw for dv 2020 yet ???
October 14, 2019 at 17:47
If there had been a second draw, winners would have been notified. So – I think there is not going to be a 2nd draw in DV2020.

Hi Brit, I have case number AF17XXX, me abd my wife have submitted the DS-260 in May and we received the KCC mail requesting documents last month, now my wife is Pregnant and expecting a baby in June, if we have the interview scheduled in March or April 2020, would we be able to add the new born child to the DS-260 after the interview and will he/she be able to receive the visa?
