I have created a video to explain my guesses about how case numbers could progress.
Please understand this is ONLY a guess – and it is very early to be making such predictions, but I understand that people need to get some idea of when they will be interviewed.
For now I am not going to publish the predictions outside of the video, because in the video I am explaining my logic and various factors that affect the timing.
It’s a long video. Get comfortable and set some time aside to watch it to fully understand when you could be interviewed.

Hi, I am from Oceania and my interview is next week. My husband and I got legally married in June after the lottery announcement, and then had our DS260 unlocked and marital status changed, as the initial DS260 was filled in May. We have been together for 8 years. Would like to know if there is anyone on this thread that is in Oceania and may have had a similar situation, and what type of interview questions that had gotten?
Also, was medical insurance required and did the consular officer ask for it? Thanks in advance for your help.
December 15, 2019 at 00:26
The questions are trivial, but to be safe, take some proof of the relationship.
You do not need to prove health insurance.
December 15, 2019 at 00:47
Thanks Simon.
We have photos and Facebook chats printed from 8 years back, together with birthday and valentines day cards. Should suffice right?
Also, for the sponsorship we have the filled I-134 forms by our sponsor in USA together with their bank statements, letter from employer and mortgage statement. Anything else do you feel we may have missed out?
December 15, 2019 at 00:56
Sydney don’t ask for financials. The process is easy. Relax.

After DS-260 i receive a letter requesting me to send the required DV documents as attachment to the email address [email protected]“[email protected] and I have sent it on October 18, 2019.
And I have received Automatic Reply from KCC DV Documents and the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has received my email and is currently processing my documents and states that I should expect an email from KCC in the next 3-6 weeks. If I do not hear from KCC (not Scheduled for an interview) for over 6 weeks since October 19,2019, I have send email to [email protected]“if we are ready to be scheduled for an interview and the replied “allow some time”. How do i gues

What is the question?
November 20, 2019 at 05:40
Hello sir,can we take our laminated documents in interview or it shouldn’t be laminated? I have heard a case that embassy made to take out the lamination from certificate..is that true?
November 20, 2019 at 05:41
So if in doubt – don’t laminate. Simple.

Hi siimon, Thank you so much to give us lots of information through your blog, my brother is the winner off DV 2020 & his interview is in next week.
I have 2 question for you….
1) few days ago he got the call from mobile and tell him that someone calling from embassy & your interview time is changed means the same day but from morning to afternoon, but they not send any email regarding this matter so is this information is reliable or not how can we assure ? ? If you have any idea then please share us….
2) what are the essential documents needed of sponsor, and there is any restriction that the sponsor should have the income more than $5000 in year ???
October 25, 2019 at 03:59
1. Check with the embassy.

October 24, 2019 at 02:07
Hello Brit, just a week in your blog and you’ve made DV process clear for me. Thanks!
I’m SA 35xx. I submitted DS-260 in May 2019(didn’t know better). Now I know my interview will probably be after June and DS-260 is valid just for a year.
1- If I unlock DS-260 in January 2020 ( cause I actually need to change my sponsor’s address) ,does it extends it’s validity for another year?
2- If your answer to question 1 is NO, do I have to wait until DS-260 is expired to submit it again?
October 24, 2019 at 15:51
1. No – but the validity is NOT limited to 1 year. I’m not sure where you saw that information – it is certainly nothing I ever wrote.
2. There is no such thing as an expired DS260 in the DV process. Someone that completes the DS260 in May 2019 can interview in September 2020 with NO CONCERN.
October 24, 2019 at 18:14
I didn’t see it in your blog but at a Family Reunification group. I thought it also applied to DV.
Good to know it doesn’t. It’s a relieve.
Thanks a lot. You are the best!
October 17, 2019 at 01:51
Hi Sir,
I received a mail from KCC to submit my documents. I have a query regarding Police certificate
1. My wife lived in here birth country for 1 year but after the age of 16 she has never been there. Do we need to obtain Police certificate from that country
2. Police certificate i obtain from my country ie India says for the purpose of Immigration other then citizenship of USA. is this the required police certificate type.
Thanks in advance
October 17, 2019 at 04:35
1. What does it say in the instructions?
2. Same answer as 1.
October 16, 2019 at 12:34
Hello sir,
I have a doubt regarding the police clearance certificate. As I was born in UAE and lived and studied there for 17 years and then I have lived the rest of my life in India. So is it required to get the pcc from uae?
October 17, 2019 at 03:16
Yes. Please read the instructions.
August 15, 2019 at 12:42
The visa bulletin is out and the cutoffs are disappointingly low ?
Cutoff numbers for October 2020:
Africa: 2500
Asia: 1300
Europe: 2100

South America: 225
Cutoff numbers for October 2019:

August 7, 2019 at 13:20
Hi Simon
I’ve got a regarding the below question from the DS260 form:
Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?
I read somewhere online that we should not answer yes to this, however I did answer yes and well my answer was somewhat like this:
YES
Explain: I WISH TO BE EMPLOYED IN THE SKILLED LABOR FORCE AFTER IMMIGRATING TO THE U.S, FOR WHICH I WILL SEEK TO GET CERTIFIED AND FURTHER MY STUDIES AS WELL, TO BE ACCEPTED OR CERTIFIED AS A SKILLED WORKER.
Could you please advise if this is ok or is there something wrong with my response? As per my understanding, skilled labor would mean like getting a normal job in your field right? Please advise.
My form is currently unlocked as I needed to make some changes so I can change my response to this question based on your advice.
My case number is 2020OC4xx.
August 7, 2019 at 14:23
No problem.
August 2, 2019 at 12:02
Dear BritSimon,
I am so sorry to bother you!
Thank you so much for all the information provided on your website. I am super excited that I am selected for the DV2020, filled out my DS260 and as I am in the EU area with a 20XXX number it will be quite a while until its my turn for an interview.
Before I knew I was selected I applied for a NZ work and holiday visa which I got granted. Now my big question is if it is ‘clever’ to go there for the time being (as I have to enter NZ before June 2020).
I read that it is alright to send KCC an email with the new interview location *which then would be in NZ* however to gather the documents and everything they might request I probably have to go back to The Netherlands.
Putting my life on hold for a few months to even a year is quite long so I am hoping that you could provide me of an answers or refer me as I am super doubtful and uncertain of what to do.
I very much appreciate your time and answer!
Thank you in advance!
August 2, 2019 at 14:49
You can go the NZ and process there if you want, but numbers will move faster than previous years, so your interview might be sooner than you think.

Hi Simon,
Thank you very much for this video. It has been helpful.
1. Am 2020AF000015xx. Can i attach my documents and send together with DS-260?
2. Does it matter how many case numbers are from ones particular country for interview scheduling? or once its current they have to invite you in for the interview?
Thank you once again.
August 1, 2019 at 14:05
1. No. Submit the DS260 and wait to be asked for documents.
2. The only concern about numbers from one country is how busy the local embassy might be for a country with many DV winners. But that is why they spread the processing out.
August 6, 2019 at 12:51
Hi Simon,
thank you for your replies.
i have a question;
Since am changing my status to married, how do i attach a marriage certificate or should i wait until when sending documents?
Thank you.
August 6, 2019 at 17:50
The DS260 might prompt you to upload a certificate, if not you will show that later.
August 7, 2019 at 08:57
thank you Simon. Blessings. i have submitted my DS260, now its waiting.
If i have missed Oct interviews, whats the probability of getting a Nov interview?
Am pregnant and am due late January so am hoping to get the visa and travel immediately to give birth at USA.
August 7, 2019 at 14:09
The DS260 must be processed (which can take some weeks), then KCC will ask for documents, and once you supply those you would be scheduled in the next monthly batch (assuming you are current). All that is unlikely to happen in the next three weeks, which is what would have to happen to get a November interview. So – December or January interview is more likely.
August 9, 2019 at 12:49
Greetings Brit,
It feels like a miracle that just the day before yesterday, i submitted my DS 260 and now its already processed. KCC is asking for our documents which i will send next week as i have not renewed my police clearance certificate yet.
My question is, should i include my marriage certificate scan even if its not part of the required documents?
Thank you Brit.
August 9, 2019 at 14:55
Just give what they ask for.
August 10, 2019 at 07:12
Thanks. Bless you.
August 1, 2019 at 04:02
Hello BritSimon,
Am dv2020 principle winner
I do really appreciate the effort that your are putting which help millions of people
I came to know your website from a WhatsApp group
I’ve two question and i need your answer please
1- Am form Sudan born in UAE i studied in India for 4 year 2004 to 2008 – do i need to get a PCC from India? ((because some people say yes some no, and the website official website says https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/India.html its not required for non Indian )) what do you think
2- My wife stayed in KSA for 4 year should i get her PCC also?
thanks
August 1, 2019 at 04:08
1. You are not Indian. You can read the official rule.
2. Have you read the instructions?
August 1, 2019 at 08:20
1. Yes am not! but why am asking because official website says as per my understanding its not required but previous winner similier to my case the Consul asked them for Indian PCC
2. Yes but its not clear for me as it says PCC not required for third nationality
its bet confusing for me thats why am applying for them to be in a safer side
August 1, 2019 at 13:35
1. Stop listening to other people.
2. “Exceptions: Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the Kingdom.” – Could that be ANY CLEARER????
July 31, 2019 at 06:19
Hello Simon,
First of all, I would like to thank you very much on your efforts to help other people out there who really does not understand the DV visa process.
My wife selected for DV2020 and we are in the process of preparing all the documents and the visa forms. We live in UAE and the consulate that will interview us will be Abu Dhabi.
However, our case number is not very high in AS region and we will be current probably around April 2020 (from what I understood from your explanations and videos); the problem comes that my company in UAE (American Company) offered me to be transferred to the US branch under L-1 visa by the end of the year (December 2019).
So, I have a couple of concerns regarding my situation:
– Would applying for the L-1 (or getting it) affect my DV application?
– I will apply my forms as I am living in UAE; but if I move to the US before I get my interview scheduled, do you think changing the location will be easy and will not delay my process? I understood from different posts that once I get my interview scheduled, the best option is not to change as it might delay the process.
– Let’s assume the most probable scenario, that I moved to the US on L-1 visa, and then I got interviewed in Abu Dhabi (UAE), then I passed; do I have to cancel my L-1 visa before I get my DV stamped? OR the officer will do whatever is required to cancel the L-1? I am concerned because I will be sponsored by my company, so I need to be prepared if anything will be required from my company because of the L-1 visa.
Regards
July 31, 2019 at 20:51
1. No
2. Such a change could cause delays.
3. You would adjust status. Cancellation of the L1 is automatically done.
July 30, 2019 at 19:50
Hi Simon
I submitted DS260 around May 16th, till now I have not received any email from kcc to submit documents. My NC 2020AF38××, do I begin to worry? I also did not give all the functions I perform at my job site as a nurse, is it wise I unlock and add them? Thanks
July 31, 2019 at 01:12
Patience is important. No need to worry, you have plenty of time.
July 31, 2019 at 05:01
Thanks Sir
I also did not put social media details at the time as it wasn’t requested, now I learn they asking for it. Is it wise I unlock and add?

Thanks Sir
Well explained
July 30, 2019 at 14:57
Dear Brit,
I have submited the DS260 two weeks ago for DV2020, please do you have any information when they will request the supported documents?
Looking forward for your reply
Regards
July 30, 2019 at 15:58
Well this is the first full year with the documents procedure, so we don’t know exavctly how it will be organized, but common sense says that they would not send requests to high case numbers early – because one of the documents needed is a police report which would expire. So – use some patience, and consider your case number.
July 30, 2019 at 07:00
Hi Brit, I sent the ds260 form (in June) and for my son (born in May 2019) I inserted “other documents”. in november/december he will make the passport. should I update the ds260 form or can I bring the new passport to the interview? thank you! 2020EU29XXX
July 30, 2019 at 13:55
Unlocking and correcting the DS260 is usually better if there is time before you are current.
July 31, 2019 at 09:22
Thanks Brit! but could I request my child’s passport (he has 3 months) when I receive the email from the KCC, to send the documents? to avoid re-opening the form, what do you suggest me? thanks 🙂
July 31, 2019 at 20:57
I already told you.
July 30, 2019 at 03:53
Hi Brit. We have sent our documents to KCC without a requst from them, because we really wanted to get on october with case 4xx DV2020EU KZ. We sent them on thursday, and on monday we got an email with approval. So now we will wait for 2NL. Thanks for guidance. I will update you once we get on the inverview and hopefully will pass it!

July 27, 2019 at 06:15
Dear Brit,
I would like to confirm that on the DS 260 form fo dv visa 2020 regarding “Travelling History” the only questions are about “ if you have ever been to USA and if yes, when the last five time…”.
There is no question regarding which place you been around the world.
It may be was different on the past.
Can you please confirm the above ?
Thank you for your help☺️
July 27, 2019 at 13:56
You simply answer the questions you are presented with.
July 24, 2019 at 17:35
Hello Brit
After submitting my DS 260 forms my confirmation massage was that a visa number will be allocated before I will be scheduled for interview and my case number is around Af43### how long can it take for me to be shaduled
July 24, 2019 at 18:12
Year….
July 24, 2019 at 12:29
Dear Brit,
Thank you for this amazing resource! I have a quick question, if I may. In the DS-260, there’s a question that goes like this: “Do you have a mental or a physical disorder that poses or is likely to pose a threat to the safety or welfare of yours self or others?” I have a five year old non-verbal autistic son. While he doesn’t pose a threat to others, he doesn’t understand spoken language, and thus can’t yet comprehend what might pose a danger to him. For instance, he doesn’t know that it’s not safe to cross a busy street with cars zooming by. My question is, in the DS-260 for him, should I answer yes to the question above? Would you have any suggestions on what I should and should not say while explaining why I answered yes? Many thanks in advance!
July 24, 2019 at 15:10
I think you must answer that how you feel is accurate and write the explanation of autism. Personally I would have selected NO for that question as it is hard to say that is a disorder that poses a threat to him – but it’s your call.
July 25, 2019 at 04:37
OK, thank you for responding. I think I can answer no, as he is not aggressive or anything.
July 27, 2019 at 01:26
Agreed. Remember, most 5 year olds can’t be left to cross a busy road by themselves. Especially boys (speaking as a father of 4, grandfather of 5).
July 24, 2019 at 11:25
Hello Brit,
I work on cruise ship and like 10 years ago or more i ve been to Yemen and Egypt.
I send already the ds form but i don’ t remember any question about if i been on this country.
CN 2020EU49XXX
Thank you for your help.
July 24, 2019 at 15:01
Review your DS260 and make sure you answered all questions.
July 24, 2019 at 20:17
Thank you Brit.
I just review the DS form and the only questions are about the last 5 previous USA travel history.
I saw they add Social network question but as I read on the blog there is no need to unlock the form for this.
Anyway nothing about previos travel on the Mid-East region.
If someone see different please advice.
Thank you again also for the great video on Youtube ?❤️
July 24, 2019 at 09:42

It varies.
July 23, 2019 at 20:19
A bit of interesting info about this year’s process – I have a case number of 2020OC9XX and I just got an email asking for my documents.
Based on this post I’m not expecting to get a 2NL until around Jan-Feb 2020 so it seems quite early – maybe they are asking for docs sooner this year.
July 23, 2019 at 21:33
Yes – I hope so.
July 24, 2019 at 05:00
Hello,
KCC normally asks for documents when the case number is going to go current soon?
July 24, 2019 at 05:46
There is no “normal” this is new and we have yet to see how it will work with a new year.
July 24, 2019 at 06:38
Oh, Ok.
Will visa bulletin of October reveal if this year is going to be different?
I mean can we predict based on first visa bulletin how the total fiscal year will be like?
July 24, 2019 at 06:44
If you watch the first 10 minutes of a movie to you know everything?
Of course not.
July 25, 2019 at 11:55
I’m 2020OC000017XX and just got asked to submit documents. Way earlier than I expected!
July 28, 2019 at 09:28
Hi when did you submit your ds260.. my case number is dv202OC4xx I dint get a email to send my documents till now
July 28, 2019 at 10:59
In May. They must be working through them all and asking for documents really early. Good luck! Your interview will be a long time before mine.
July 28, 2019 at 09:30
Hi when did you submit your ds260.. my case number is dv202OC4xx I dint get a email to send my documents till now
July 22, 2019 at 19:47
Thank you for this! Very insightful.
When I’m trying to log into my visa status check, it says “Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number“. Although, I’m definitely putting in the correct number.
I’ve been trying to log back in over the last month or two and it says this each time.
I’ve already filed my ds160 – and I don’t actually need to log in for any specific reason, but should I be concerned about this?
July 22, 2019 at 19:49
*ds260
July 22, 2019 at 19:55
Where you enter your case number, remove the leading zeros. So – where the case number is for example 2018AF000012345 , you would enter 2018AF12345.
July 23, 2019 at 19:57
I’ve tried that too, but the invalid message still comes up?
July 23, 2019 at 21:34
Well try contacting KCC
July 24, 2019 at 07:39
Check if you are inputting the correct ‘Confirmation number’.
I’ve been copying the number from old file (2014) and that’s why it was showing “Invalid Case Number”.
July 21, 2019 at 15:49
Hiii
1- Is it wrong if i opened my account at Ceac log in and i saw my completed DS-260 form? Just saw to confirm the data i put.
2- And i saw there social media section that when i Completed DS260 was not.
I can’t add it now without opening again DS260 right? Do i have to open it just for adding social media?
3- Can i have a sponsor that has only permanent green card but not a passport?
July 21, 2019 at 16:35
1. No problem.
2. That’s OK – it was added recently. No need to unlock for that.
3. Yes – you already asked this – https://britsimonsays.com/completing-the-ds260-for-dv-lottery-entrants/comment-page-31/#comment-191925

December 10, 2019 at 15:13
Hi,
You can open your DS-260 form at ceac.state.gov. You can Sing in with your Case Number.
July 21, 2019 at 09:09
I am asking this question for friend,
He has Secondary Certificate (High School) and University Bachelor Degree (Electrical Engineering) as well, currently he is working and he has more than 10 years of Experience in the Electrical Engineering Works, He did select “NO” to question “Does this job require at least 2 years of training or experience?” Knowing that his job meets the Criteria of 2 years of training or experience and that located in job zone 4 on the range of 7.0 or higher in the rating range of ”O* DATA BASE”,
His questions are as follows
1-Is that mistake still requiring him to unlock the submitted DS260 in order to be fixed?
2- By selecting “NO” to that question My understanding that he will be evaluated on the Education route only.
3- Is he still required to prepare the Experience paperwork or just FOCUS on the Educational Certificates in order to be presented during the interview.
THANK YOU
July 21, 2019 at 14:47
1,No
2. No it does not mean that. But if he meets the education standard (which he does) then education is all the CO will be interested in.
3. Education.
July 20, 2019 at 15:35
Hi Brit !!!
Thanks again for all the info and the great video you are making!!!
I’m case nmb DV 2020EU49xxx being an “ underselected” year there is possibility EU region going current in May like couple of years ago?
And if so how estimate could take send documents to Kfc receive an answer and being scheduled for interview?
I’ m asking cause i’ m worry that even if we get Current then there is no time to be scheduled.
Thank again
July 31, 2019 at 12:18
Dude, Current for 2020 Is possible but not certain. Just please don`t send your documents to KFC, they can only process a “rocker” for you 🙂
July 19, 2019 at 22:41

Thank you so much. they told me to leave , not to submit ds260 because i have no chance.
July 19, 2019 at 20:39
I know people whose number is higher than 70k can not be interviewed for these numbers
July 19, 2019 at 21:05
What are you talking about?
July 19, 2019 at 21:29
There are numbers in Egypt higher than 70 k in light of this figure keeps my hope weak
July 19, 2019 at 20:09
Will we be able to deduce if this year is different and case numbers move faster by looking at the visa bulletin for August showing visa availability for the first month of the fiscal year which is October?

Hello, I’m a selectee for DV2020 and also a F1 student residing in the US. My case number is EU44***. Which is the best option adjustment of status or going back to my country? How long is the processing time for adjustment of status?
July 21, 2019 at 01:03
You need to decide the pros and cons of each method. Info on that is here:

Your case number is quite high, and Egypt has many selectees, so it is not possible to say if your number is safe, but if you do get interviewed it would be in about 1 year from now.
July 19, 2019 at 11:14
Wow. Thanks a lot Brit,
According your 03 concepts my interview will be in June 2020. Our police clearance certificate is valid only 06 months.
Can you guess the document submission date if my interview will be on June 2020. Because in Sri Lanka, police clearance certificate is valid only 06 months.
01. Please let me know both document submission date & interview date is within 06 months OR can’t be guessed exactly.
02. Is it necessary to same police clearance certificate at the interview and also the document submission?
Again Thanks a lot your prediction.
July 19, 2019 at 13:48
Sometimes people need to renew their police cert nearer the interview (taking BOTH to the interview).
July 20, 2019 at 03:56
Thanks Brit

Hi, I am also Sri Lanka, can you contact me on face book page
July 19, 2019 at 11:13
hey britt, i just got a mail from kcc to send my document
they asked for
· Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
· Birth certificate
· Military records for any applicant who has served in the military
· Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
· If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record.
the only thing i want to ask is my birth certificate is in my language, should i translate it to english and send or not without the translation
July 19, 2019 at 13:47
Have it translated if the language is not the official language in the embassy where you will interview.

July 19, 2019 at 19:07

So when a region becomes current, does it mean that EVERYONE will get an interview? can the quota be reached before everyone had a chance even if the region is current?
July 19, 2019 at 13:43
It means everyone should get an interview, BUT there are sometimes surprises and mistakes leading to problems.
July 19, 2019 at 08:14
We submitted the DS 260 form since December but up to this day we are yet to receive a reply.what would have been the delay
July 19, 2019 at 13:37
Answer these 4 questions. You don’t have much time.
1. Have you been asked to send documents?
2. Have you sent them?
3. When?
4. Have you checked that KCC are satisfied with your documents?

Amazing man thanks

Hey Simon, I’m assisting a relative on a 2020 SA (30XX) case and just wanted to chime in to add some info to your intel. As you know for SA the bulk of cases are from Cuba and Venezuela, and it happens that on both countries the US embassies have stoped processing immigrant visas there and nationals of both countries (that still reside in them) have to go to another country (Guyana for Cubans from Jun 2018 and Colombia for Venezuelans from Feb 2019) to be able to process them, which might cause a larger “No response” numbers than would normally happen as there would be extra costs and logistics associated with traveling for medicals and interviews. Maybe the numbers in the region could go faster than expected (just an additional variable for your global guesstimations 😉
And thanks for compiling all this wealth of knowledge on DV processes on your site, it has been very helpful in understanding this particular process and follow a clear path 🙂
July 19, 2019 at 11:35
Thanks for posting that info on this forum. I’m 2020SA00035**. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
July 19, 2019 at 13:51
Yes I agree. I did NOT want to factor that in to the predictions though in such an overt way – but I have taken as an assumption that all regions would go current (which essentially required low response rate in SA).
July 18, 2019 at 23:10
Thanks for the detailed explanation.
My number is 2020AS000062xx, as per what I understood from the video, it is expected that my interview might be during January 2020, is that correct?
July 19, 2019 at 00:14
I posted a detailed video so that I don’t have to answer a lot of individual questions….
